Speaker 1 (00:39):
Hi, and thanks for tuning in today. Today is October
the tenth of twenty twenty four, on this Thursday, we
want to just thank you for tuning in today again.
My name is doctor kl Rich. I am your host.
I'm also Navy veteran, and we are here to give
inspiration and news that you can use as it relates

(01:05):
to the military or veteran benefits or whatever it is
that you may find of importance to you. And regardless
of what branch you serve in, rather it's the Navy,
Air Force, Army, Marines, Coast Guard, whatever you after duty reservists.
You may be a family member of someone who is

(01:25):
serving in the military right now, or the friend of
a veteran who has already served. We are here for
you again. This is Veterans in Christ and you can
find us on Veterans in Christ dot net Veterans Veterans
in Christ dot net. The good thing is, if you
serve long enough, one day you will be a veteran.

(01:48):
One day you may decide that your time is up
or you know you've had you've spent a career in
the military, and then you will be transitioned to that
veteran status and so we are here, and if you're
active duty, I want to just encourage you to share

(02:09):
this podcast with other active duty members, those that are
on the reserves, those that are veterans, even family members,
because we're going to be covering a lot of different
topics throughout this podcast as we have acoming podcast, and
we're going to also help those that are maybe family

(02:31):
members to those who are active duty, because when they
are serving, you are serving as well, and you're serving
that time being separated from that loved one. So we
want to talk about a lot of different things. But
today today we are Before we go into our podcast,
I want to just open up with a word of prayer.

(02:54):
There's so many things that you may be facing as
a veteran, as an active duty personnel, as a family
member or a friend of someone that has or is serving,
and so this morning we want to just open up
with a word of prayer. Dear, comely Father God, we

(03:15):
just thank you God for allowing us to into your
presence this morning. Lord, we thank you Lord for all
the things and all the blessings that you have given
to us, Lord throughout the years, throughout the month, Lord,
we ask that you would forgive us for all our sins. Lord,
we asked that you would cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Lord,

(03:36):
we ask that you would be with every single military
person right now in the name of Jesus. Lord, whether
they are veteran status, whether they're active duty, whether they're reservist,
whether they're even a first responder. Lord, we ask that
you would be with them right now. Lord. We ask
that you will cover them. Lord, we ask that you
will shield them, give them your amor protection. Lord. Lord,

(03:59):
we ask Lord that no one feels alone, no one
is left behind. Lord, but we are we are able
to be certainly and be there for all who are
in need right now in the name of Jesus, who
pray for those that put themselves in harm's way, rather
they're a fireman, whether they're a policeman, whether they're medic Lord,

(04:21):
we ask Lord that you would be with them and
give them protection. Lord. We just thank you, Lord for
those that have the courage to serve Lord, and those
that have served. Right now in the name of Jesus. Lord,
we just thank you, and we asked it you hear
our prayer today in Jesus' name you she a hammer ship.
Thank God. Amen. Amen, I pray that you all are

(04:46):
having a blessed and wonderful day, and that it will
continue to be a blessed day for you as well
as week and month. If you heard my dog in
the background on some of you, you are serving with
K nine units. And that is my my non month
old puppy, Thunder. And he is true to his name.

(05:11):
He is loud, he loves to talk. And the other
day he took a pill of mine and I was
gone for an exam and he was gone hen cane back.
He had cotton all over the floor. He had taken
a pillow apart and had it everywhere in the living room.

(05:33):
So that's my K nine right there. Okay, So today
we are talking about Jesus healing a paralyzed man, a man,
and we're coming today from the Book of Luke, chapter five,
and we're gonna start at verse seventeen. And I find

(05:53):
this story interesting because you have these four, these these
friends who who did not leave their comrade behind or
their their friend behind, but they were so they loved
this person so much that they took him to go
see Jesus. He cannot take himself. So I'm gonna read

(06:15):
this story to you, and then we're going to talk
about it a little bit because we have in the military.
As you know, there is a motto of leaving no
one behind, and so in Luke chapter five, verses seventeen,
it says one day Jesus was teaching, and pharisees and

(06:38):
teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come
from every village of Galilee, and from Judea and Jerusalem,
and the power of the Lord was with Jesus to
heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man
on a mat and tried to take him into the
house to lay him before Gesa Jesus. When they couldnot

(07:02):
find a way to do this because of the crowd,
they went up on the roof and lowered him on
his map, through the towels and to the middle of
the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw
their faith, he said, friend, your sins are forgiven. The

(07:26):
Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves,
who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy, who can forgive sins?
But God along Jesus knew what they were thinking, and asked,
why are you thinking these things in your hearts? Which
is easier to say your sins are forgiven, or to
say get up and walk, But I want you to

(07:47):
know that the Son of Man has authority on earth
to forgive sins. So he said to the paralyzed man,
I tell you get up and take your map and
go home. Immediately, he said, stood up in front of them,
took what he had been lying on and went home,
praising God. Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.

(08:10):
They were filled with awe and said, we have seen
remarkable things today. And so I want to key in
on these men who carried this paralyzed man on the
mat and tried to get him healed. They tried to
get him in front of Jesus. And the Bible doesn't

(08:33):
say a lot about these men, but it seemed like
this man that they were trying to get before Jesus,
that he was special to them in some kind of way.
Maybe he was a friend, maybe he was a relative.
For we don't know what the dynamics of the relationship was,
but this man must have meant something to these men

(08:57):
that they wanted to get him of Jesus. And just
think that it's not easy carrying someone, all right, So
you have these men that were carrying this man. They
was trying to get him through the crowd at this house,
but they couldn't do it. So they were not going
to leave him behind. They were not going to just say,

(09:17):
you know what, but we tried, and we're just gonna
give up and we had better luck next time. No,
they got on the roof. They were determined to have
this man get before Jesus to receive his healing. How
many of you got some friends like that? How many
of you have some comrades like that? How many of

(09:39):
you have some people in your life that would not
leave you behind. Come on, now, they're not just worried
about themselves. They say, you know what, we're gonna help you.
We're gonna do what we need to do to get
you the healing that you need. And so they wanted
this man, whoever he was, to them, they wanted him

(09:59):
to to receive that healing so much that they went
on the roof, start removing the towels from the roof
and to lower him directly before Jesus. And that man
received his healing. Why because the faith of his friends
come on, now, the faith of his friends, they were

(10:22):
unwilling to leave him behind. And you may have some
someone that you're and you're serving with in the military,
and they may be going through some issues sometimes when
you're just excusing, when you're just getting in the military,
it could be a little scary for some that you know,
they're not used to being away from friends and family

(10:44):
and the West familiar, and they need someone that they
can be friends. I remember when I had first got
in and I wound up being stationed in Washington. Uh,
it was a family that was was family away from
family for me for a long time, even after I
had gotten out, and I still appreciate them to this day.

(11:08):
And so someone we all need, somebody whom we can
rely on. And so when you're if you're in the military,
you just get in the military, it's so important to
make those connections, to have those relationships because you're gonna oftentimes,
you know, if you stay in long enough, you're gonna
go to multiple bases, You're gonna maybe go to different

(11:30):
states or even outside the country or at sea, wherever
the case may be. But one thing that we never
want to do is leave someone behind that struggling. Someone
may be dealing with PTSD. Someone may be dealing with
suicidal tendency. Someone may be dealing with anxiety, panic, worry.
Someone may be dealing with just not understanding who they

(11:54):
are first in Christ and then who what they mean
to other people. But we don't want to leave anyone behind.
Jesus took care of the man. He said, you know,
he forgave his sins. Whatever the man had done, Jesus
let him know that his sins were forgiven. And then
the next day he told him to pick up his
man and walk and God and Jesus healed him. And

(12:18):
where others were worried about, oh, he forgave sins. Jesus
was doing the work and the man spiritually and physically.
He took care of his spiritual need first, and then
he took care of his physical need. And we too,
we don't want to leave anyone behind. We're going to
take a quick break and we'll be back in just

(12:44):
a moment.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Come on over, put you up, and next, mind, put
you up up, and next my and I will shoot
them all down the line, and I will shoot the
mother on the line I shot, and sergeant one I
shot serge one, did that one just for fun?

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Did that?

Speaker 2 (13:12):
We'll just put you up and next to mine. Put
you up and next my hair. We'll shoot them all
down the line. We'll shoot them down the line. Come on,
oh man, come on, was not all? It was not all.
Put you up and next to me. Put you up

(13:32):
and next to mine, and we'll shoot them all down
the line. And I want to shoot them all down
the line. I shot of Serge tude. I shot and
Serge did that one touch for you?

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Did that?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
One touch for you? Put you up and next to me?
Put you up in that smile. Man, I will shoot
them all down on the line, and we'll shoot the
mother on the line. I shot and Serge three?

Speaker 1 (13:55):
I shot?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Did that one just for me? Did put your weapon
next tonight? Put you next tonight?

Speaker 1 (14:26):
And that is and that is Jonathan Michael Fleming. Come
on over and you can catch his cadences on YouTube
and Spotify and he has a lot of different cadences
on there. All right, So I want to read this

(14:48):
article that was written some years ago. And I believe
that even even though it was written some years ago,
it can still be and it's still relevant now, and
it's called the warriors ethos while we leave no one behind.
And this was written by Nate Rawlings in twenty twelve,

(15:12):
and it says in the US Armed Forces, we don't
leave anyone behind. It's one of the basic pillars of
what the army caused, the warrior ethos. I will never
leave a fallen comrade. During the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,
several troops were captured and held prisoner. Some like Jessica Lynch,
were rescued quickly. Bo bardal If, I'm pronouncing that rights

(15:38):
has been held for three years. He was held for
three years. On April ninth, two thousand and four, army
fuel convoy came under fire near Baghdad Airport and began
emerging from the chaos. The unit was missing nine people,
two soldiers and seven civilian drivers. One of the soldiers

(15:59):
was dead, while specialist Matt Mappin had been captured. A
week later, Mappin appeared on a videotape that was broadcast
by Al Jazeira. Two months after Matt Mappin was captured
in Baghdad, I completed officer training and was commissioned was

(16:21):
a commission on me lieutenant. Later that summer news report
said that Mappin had been killed, But when I arrived
in Baghdad in December of two thousand and five, Mappin
was still listed as missing, and though the trail had
gone cold, the units in the area where he was
captured was still searching for him, investigating any leads, large

(16:45):
or small. In June of two thousand and six, my
unit moved from southern to western Baghdad to the area
where Mappin had been captured. Later that summer, one of
the companies received a tip from a pre who knew
where Mappin's body was buried. The next morning, at daylight,

(17:06):
we cleared a field where Moppin was said to be heavy.
Engineers used ground penetrating radar to look for remains. Bordozers
dug up the earth, hoping to discover the soldier's resting place.
In the end, we came away with nothing dry hold,
we said, and returned to our base. When I called

(17:28):
an emailed home that week, I told my friends and
family about searching for Makin, who. They replied their confusion
wasn't either callousness or lack of compassion, because I was
fighting in Baghdad. My friends and family paid close attention
to the war. Mathain had simply disappeared from the country's

(17:51):
collective memory, replaced by the demands of daily life and
other news from war from the war zone. Several more
there were times information on Mopping came our way. Several
more times we suited up and rolled into the inferno
of an Iraqi summer and spent the day combing, digging,

(18:12):
hoping we would find him. Like the first mission, when
hope was high, we found nothing. Soon the trail went cold,
and Mopping disappeared from my thoughts and replaced by ongoing
missions in an increasingly chaotic war. We returned home six
months after searching for Mopping, and a year later I

(18:34):
was on my way back to bad Dad. When I
arrived in March two thousand and eight, I wondered if
we would ever find Mopping. On March twentieth, a unit
finally found Moppin's remains, north of where we had previously searched.
They had relied on a tip from a local resident

(18:54):
and named the recovery mission Operation Trojan Honor after the
math Scott from Mapping's high school. We were far removed
from our own efforts to find him, but the news
was still a great comfort. Mappin's family back in Ohio
finally knew what happened to their son, and he was

(19:16):
laid to rest in their hometown cemetery not far outside
of Baghdad. To this day, more than seventy seventy three
thousand troops remained missing from World War Two alone. Unlike Mappin,
most of them would never be found. But the search,

(19:37):
though it may be in vain, will never end. The
oath to never leave a fallen comrade is a promise
made to each other that even if we die, our
brothers in arms would do everything they can to bring
us home. It's a mission that hasn't ended, and as

(19:58):
long as wars continue you it never will. And I
wanted you to just share that this powerful article with
you all that someone had written about their time in
the service of never leaving anyone behind, and we don't
want to leave anyone behind. Rather your active duty, rather

(20:20):
you're a reservist, Rather you are a veteran. If we
see someone that's in need in the body of Christ,
as veterans in Christ, or you might be active duty
in Christ, or even a family member of someone who
may be having a struggle of their love when not
being around because they're overseas or or they are not

(20:42):
where they can be within reach to be around that
person on a daily basis. We want to make sure
that we never leave anyone behind. Well, this is the
end of today's podcast, and I pray that it has
been a blue blessing to you and that you will

(21:02):
know that you are never alone and most importantly, God
never leaves us alone. We know that He says that
he will never leave us nor forsake us, and he
leaves no one alone, and we can always go to him,
We can always count on him and he is always

(21:23):
there for us. Well, this is the end of today's podcast,
and I pray that it has been a true blessing
to you and that as you are serving or have served,
or even friends or family of those that serve, you
will know that we are never to leave anyone alone.

(21:43):
God bless This is doctor and evangelist Kale Rich as
well as your Navy Veteran podcast make a more lesson
evening going out and coming in

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Mm hmm.
