topic that many are familiar with, when others trying to
tell us that we have little self esteem and claiming

that God told them to tell us that. Now, as
believers who are grounded in the truth of Scripture, we
know that this kind of approach is deeply problematic. So
today we're going to unpack why we need to be
very cautious about accepting such proclamations and how we can

stand firm in the identity that God has given us
in Jesus Christ. You know, the Bible is very clear
and we are not to engage in corrupting talk that
tells others down. Instead, Ephesians chapter four, verse twenty nine
(01:29):
instructs us to use our words to build up as
fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those
who hear. Yet all too often we have people coming
to us, sometimes even claiming a word from the Lord,
(01:50):
telling us that we are we struggle with low self esteem,
and the reality is my friends, only God truly knows
the depth of our hearts and minds. As First Samuel
sixteen seven reminds us, the Lord sees not as man sees.
Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks
(02:13):
on the heart. So when someone presumes to make that
kind of assessment about us, we have to be very careful.
Are they truly speaking a word from the Lord or
are they simply projecting their own perceptions and judgments unto us?
And even if they believe they have discerned something, do
(02:36):
they have the right to proclaim it so boldly and
so presumptuously. You see, the Bible calls us to find
our identity and worth not in ourselves, but in our
relationship with our heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. One Peter
(02:59):
to nine declares that we are a chosen race, a
royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession.
Our value comes from being God's beloved children, not from
meeting any one else's standards or expectations. So when someone
(03:22):
tries to label us as having low self esteem, we
need to remember where our true worth comes from. Rather
than accepting their assessment, we can gently point them back
to the transformative power of the Gospel and the scriptural
truths about our identity in Jesus Christ. I know it
(03:48):
can be difficult when others make such bold claims about us,
especially when they try to use God's name to give
these claims more wait, but we have to stand firm
in the knowledge of who we are in Jesus Christ.
God's plan is not to tear us down, but to
(04:12):
build us up and empower us to live victoriously. So
let's choose to focus on that truth and let it
be the foundation of our self understanding. While others try
to impose their own perceptions, we can respond with compassion, wisdom,
(04:33):
and the unravering confidence and our identity as God's treasure,
