Doctor eric Is Seaborn.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Welcome back to Victorias through Christ. I'm doctor eric is Seaborn,
and today we're embracing the spirit of Mother's Day. While
this holiday brings joy, it can also evoke mixed emotions
for many. Today we will delve into the history of
(02:27):
Mother's Day. It's profound spiritual significance and how we can
honor all maternal figures in our lives. Just begin with
a brief history of Mother's Day. Its origins can be
traced back to ancient civilization like the Greeks and Romans,
(02:51):
who celebrated mother goddesses, and the modern holiday, however, emerged
in the early twentieth century thanks largely to Anna Jarvis.
After her mother's passing, Anna envisioned the day to honor
mothers and their invaluable contributions. The first official Mother's Day
(03:14):
was celebrated in nineteen oh eight, and in nineteen fourteen
President Rigel Wilson declared a national holiday. While I began
as a heartfelt tribute, Mother's Day has transformed into a
commercial holiday, often overshadowed by gifts and sales rather than
(03:40):
genuine appreciation, and this shift can be challenging to those
who have lost their mothers or navigate complicated relationships. Yet
let's not overlook the spiritual perspective. The Bible offers num
us examples of formidable mothers, and one of the most
(04:04):
notables married the Mother of Jesus in Luke chapter one,
verses twenty six through thirty eight. Her unwavering faith and
acceptance of God's plan shine through despite her challenges, and
(04:25):
another inspiring that example is found in Proverbs chapter thirty one,
verses twenty five through twenty eight, the Virtuous Woman passage,
which depicts a virtuous woman. She is clothed for strength
and dignity. She can laugh at the days to come.
(04:46):
She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her time.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does
not eat the bread of idle. Her children arise and
call her blessed, and her husband also and he praises her.
(05:14):
The scripture passage illuminates not just the traditional role of
a mother, but her strength, wisdom, and profound influence on
her family and community. So it's essential to recognize that
Mother's Day is not solely for biological mothers. We should
(05:37):
earn a spiritual mothers, spiritual mentors, aunt, grandmothers, and anyone
who has helped us in nurturing family and young ones
and have been nurturing figures in our lives. And these
remarkable women guide us, support us, and shape who we become.
(06:00):
I encourage you to reach out to influential figures. Yes,
reach out to those influential figures, share a message of
love and gratitude, and perhaps send a handwritten note that
hasn't gone out a style. In my opinion, I think
(06:22):
it's more personal than a text message or a post
on social media. Give them a phone call or reminisce
about the memories that celebrate their impact on your life.
I want to take a moment to share a personal
(06:45):
story about my own mother and my godmin My mother
has been very influential in my life, and she is
a remarkable woman of strength. When I was growing up,
(07:10):
she gave me very wise advice how to deal with
bullies and people who excluded me because of my albinism
and my visual impairment. She told me it's okay to
be alone, and she told me many things personal advice
(07:32):
and guidance. And she's been supportive of me and my
endeavors when no one else was supportive, and I'm very
thankful for her. Ever since the passing of my dad
in February, it's been very challenging for both of us.
(07:55):
This is the first Mother's Day without him here physically here.
We miss him, and her strength even shines through dealing
with this as well. I love her so much, and
(08:18):
my godmother, Marian Anderson. Her birth date was on the
day of my dad's passing, and she's been going for
a few years and I miss her. We used to
talk a lot, and she was a strong spiritual mother. Also,
we talked about the Bible. We talked about how we
(08:38):
apply the Bible to our lives. We talked about life.
We laugh, we cry together. And I miss her dearly,
and I wish she was here today so I could
tell her thank you. I miss my grandmother's, my aunts
who have passed away. It's numerous people who have impacted
(09:01):
me greatly. Then I wish I could hug right now,
and I'm thankful I had the opportunity to express to
them while they were living here how much they meant
to me. And I pray that you do the same.
Why you have the opportunity, and if you have a
(09:21):
maternal figure or mentor who has passed away and your
greed still grieve in them right now, try to reflect
on the positive aspects of their legacy that they left
behind for you and others, and trust me, that helps
a lot. That helps a lot. I want to thank
(09:49):
you for tuning in, and I would love to hear
from you, my listeners and I thank you for your support.
I like to hear what stories you hold about the
amazing women who have shaped your life, and you can
feel free to share them with us and on social
media or by email. And as we conclude, I encourage
(10:17):
you to remember that Mother's Day can be a time
of reflection, love and deep appreciation. And let's it strive
to create new traditions that honor the true essence of
motherhood beyond commercialism. You don't always have to spend money
to show someone that you love them, and don't feel
(10:42):
pressured by the advertisements, the social media postings to purchase
anything from the store. Sometimes I'm not going to say
sometimes I believe the best gifts come from the heart,
and most of the times they're handmade. Sometimes they're gestures,
and sometimes they're works. Use your imagination, be creative, express
(11:04):
yourself to those who are very important to your lives.
So let's close with a prayer. Father in Heaven, I
thank you for the prices give the mothers and maternal
figures in our lives. Thank you for helping us to
(11:24):
honor and cherish them, not just today, but every day,
and thank you for helping that focus draw us closer
to you and the purpose you have in our lives.
Thank you for camping your angels around about everyone who
is listening right now and those in their lives, and
(11:44):
for prospering them as their soul prosperous. Thank you for
blessing all the maternal figures in our lives and strengthen
them and continue to guide them by your Holy Spirit.
I ask these things and I trust you in Jesus' name. Amen.
(12:05):
Thank you so much for tuning in to victorious through Christ.
And until the next time, stay blessed and may focused
on your blessings on purpose, and I will talk to
you again. You're victorious warrior in Jesus' name. God bless
(12:27):
you the morn and night arises. See with them in
the high. Confinally free you momsy too.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
