Speaker 1 (00:01):
Through cridable singing friends. Lot of is Lord. No hide
can bide us, don't fear can remain with us on
(00:21):
the pride. The desert is now welcome back to Victorious
through Christ, where we explore the depths of faith and
(00:42):
the journey of living a purposeful life. I'm doctor Eric
is Seborn, and today I want to talk about something
that has been weighing heavily on my heart. Our perception
of life's fleeting moments and life's fleeting nature, and what
it means to truly live an honorable life. Life is
(01:08):
often described as a mist, a vapor that appears for
a little while and then vanishes, and this powerful imagery
is found in Psalm thirty nine, verse five, where it says,
indeed you have made my days as handbreaths, and my
(01:29):
age is as nothing before you. Certainly every man at
his best state is but a vapor. When I think
about this verse, I reflect on the lies we lead
and the choices we make. Why is it that so
(01:51):
many of us chase after fleeting entertainment forgetting the deeper
meaning of existence. It's almost as if we're trapped in
a cycle of seeking enjoyment rather than fulfillment. As many
(02:18):
of you may know from previous episodes. Recently, my father
passed away about four months ago, back in February. Well,
it will be four months on the twenty fourth of
this month, and that experience has dramatically reshaped my perspective. Well,
(02:43):
I could say it kind of deepened my perspective because
I have the same perspective on life, but it just
deepened it and confirmed a lot of things that God
had been showing me over the years about life. My
(03:03):
father lived a quiet, humble life, filled with love and generosity,
and he didn't seek recognition for the great things he did. Instead,
he he found joy and giving even when he didn't
have much to spare. And he truly understood the essence
(03:25):
of living in the moment and being a blessing and
valuing what matters most. And I choose to live on
in that legacy. He was a great example of what
a godly man should do. And Psalm thirty nine, verse four,
(03:47):
it says, Lord, make me to know my end, that
I may know how frail I am. That verse is
a reminder of our mortality, and it encourages us to
consider how we spend our days. Are we focused on entertainment,
(04:12):
or are we seeking to impact the lives of those
around us? I invite you to reflect, what are you
doing with your time? Are you scrolling through social media
watching the latest trends, trying to figure out the latest dances,
(04:33):
or are you investing in relationships and pursuits that build
your faith and enrich your spirit? As I observe the
world around me, it it seems as if so many
people prioritize entertainment, dancing, partying, and seeking the next thrill
(04:58):
by neglecting the d deeper connections we have and the
call to serve. And while these activities they can bring
temporary joy, Don't get me wrong, they can be fun,
but they often distract us from fulfilling our true purpose
and our calling. So I'm thirty nine verse seven. It
(05:21):
provides a beautiful contrast. It says, and now, Lord, what
do I wait for? My hope is in you, and
the bird seems to agree. I don't know if you
can hear the bird chirping in the background, just chirping away.
(05:43):
Thank you Jesus. Well, that verse invites us to shift
our focus from earthly pleasures to eternal hope. It's a
call to another. It's a call to really anchor ourselves
in Jesus Christ, who offers fulfillment. You know, it says
(06:09):
he is the Way, the truth and the life. And
no one comes to the Father but by him. If
he's the way, the truth in the life, that's the
only way he can be truly fulfilled. It's by seeking him.
And so I challenge you today, Let's prioritize what truly matters.
Let's invest our time and meaningful relationships, acts of kindness,
(06:33):
and deepening our relationships of God. Life is too short
to be consumed by distractions. And the next time you
find you say yourself saying, oh, life is too short,
you need to enjoy it, think about what you're saying.
Think about is it really just about enjoying it? Or
(06:57):
is it really about being purposeful? And as I close
this episode, I encourage you to think about the legacy
you want to leave. What kind of impact do you
want to to have on those around you and even
(07:19):
on those who don't know you but will be told
about you by those who know you. Remember, every moment
in your life counts, so let's make them meaningful. Thank
you for joining me today of victorious through Christ and
(07:43):
I pray that this episode has resonated with you, and
you're welcome to share it with anyone who might need
this message. Until the next time, embrace the fleeting moments
and live with purposeful blessings to others and yourself, honoring
(08:06):
and seeking the calling God has on your life to
live victoriously in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you.
