Speaker 2 (00:19):
Welcome to Victorious through Christ. Forgiveness isn't just a gift
for others. It's part of the path to righteousness, to
our own liberation. Isaiah Chapter twenty six, verses seven through
thirteen from the HCSB version says, the path of the
righteous level you clear a straight path for the righteous. Yes, yahweh,

(00:40):
we wait for you in the path of your judgments.
Our desire is for your name and renown. I long
for you in the night. Yes, my spirit within me
diligently seeks you. For when your judgments are in the land,
the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. But if
the wicked man is shown favor, he does not learn

(01:01):
righteousness in a righteous land. He acts unjustly and does
not see the majesty of the Lord.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Lord.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Your hand is lifted up to take action, but they
do not see it. They will see your zeal for
your people, and they will be put to shame. The
fire for your adversaries will consume them. Lord, you will
establish peace for us, for you have also done all
our work for us. Yahweh are God Lord's other than
you have ruled over us. But we remember your name alone,

(01:31):
and Matthew six fourteen reminds us, for if you forgive
people they're wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well.

This welcome to Victorious through Christ, where we explore the
transformative power of faith and the strength refined in Jesus Christ.
I'm doctor Eric is Seborn, and today we're diving deep
into a topic that resonates with each of us, forgiveness.

(03:52):
Forgiveness is a concept deeply woven into the fabric of Christianity,
and yet many stres with what it truly means to forgive. Today,
we're going to unpack the biblical perspective on forgiveness, exploring
why we must forgive others not for their sake, but

(04:14):
because we have been forgiven. Let's start with a fundamental truth.
As believers, we are called to forgive because God has
forgiven us. And Ephesians chapter four, of verse thirty two,

(04:34):
we read, be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
as God in Christ forgave you. Now that verse encapsulates
the essence of our calling, our ability to forgive flaws
from the grace we have received. Think about that for

(04:58):
a moment. Each of us a flawed We all fall
short of the glory of God.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yet in this.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
World we experience his infinite mercy. He forgives us, and
then we grasp the magnitude of our own imperfections. We
begin to see that extending forgiveness to others is not
only a reflection of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ,

(05:29):
but also an act of humility. Forgiveness is like a mirror.
It reflects our character and convicts us of our need
for grace when we recognize that our hearts are deceitful
above all things, as it says in Jeremiah chapter seventeen,

(05:51):
verse nine, we can't approach others with understanding and grace.
Hurt other people at some point, and unintentionally or intentionally,
and if that realization comes a profound sense of empathy.

(06:13):
You know the truth is? You know you're in trouble
when somebody says you know the truth is. The truth
is when we hold on to grudges or refuse to forgive,
we're often the ones who suffer. We carry burdens that

(06:34):
weigh us down, impacting our spiritual and emotional well being. However,
when we choose to forgive, we experience liberation. It's not
just about the other person, It's about our healing and
walking in the freedom that Jesus Christ promised us and

(06:55):
has given us when he sacrificed himself on the cross
for us. Now, letus consider the ultimate example of forgiveness,
Jesus Christ on the cross. He bore the weight of
our sins, offering us forgiveness even in our darkest moments.

(07:15):
And First John chapter four of verse nineteen, we read
we love because he first loved us, and this love
compels us to extend the same grace to others. As believers,
we are called to reflect Jesus Christ's love. If we

(07:36):
say we love him, we must also love others, including
those who have hurt us. Forgiveness is an act of love,
a deliberate choice to let go of resentment and embrace grace.
So how can we actively practice forgiveness in our own lives?

(08:00):
I'm glad you ask. Here are a few steps to consider. First,
acknowledge your need for forgiveness. Recognize your own flaws and
the grace you receive from God. Also, pray for the

(08:21):
strength to forgive. Ask God to help you release any
bitterness and to extend mercy, just as He extended mercy
to you. Reflect on God's love. Meditate on the ways
He has loved and forgiven you, allowing that to inspire

(08:44):
your actions towards others. Take action. Forgiveness may require a
conversation or a gesture of kindness. Step out in faith
and show grace even when it's difficult. It's gonna hurt
your flesh, but it's gonna strengthen your spirit. Remember, forgiveness

(09:07):
is not a one time act. It's a journey. It's
a daily thing. It's a lifestyle. Each step you take
towards forgiveness is a step toward healing and victory in
Jesus Christ. Thank you for joining me today on victorious

(09:28):
through Christ. May you find the strength to forgive and
experience the freedom that comes from extending grace. And until
the next time, remain blessed on purpose, Focus on Jesus
and keep walking in victory through Jesus Christ, with the

(09:50):
guidance of His Holy Spirit, extending grace and mercy to others.
God bless you.
