Speaker 1 (00:16):
Reading some doctor Eric is seborn and welcome to victorious
through Christ. As Christians, we are called to a high
standard to reflect the love, mercy, and grace of our
Lord and save of Jesus Christ. Yet it can be
tempting in our human nature our flesh to match the
(00:39):
energy of those around us, responding and kind to how
we are treated. But is this truly the christ like
response we are meant to embody. In this episode, we're
going to explore what the Bible says about how we
(01:01):
should respond even to those who may mistreat or disrespect us,
because as ambassadors of Jesus Christ, our character and conduct
should not be dictated by the actions of others, but
by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit working in
(01:26):
our lives. Let's focus on the biblical perspective. The apostle
Paul writes in Romans chapter twelve, Verses seventeen through twenty one.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to
(01:48):
do what is right in the eyes of everyone, if
it is possible, as far as it depends on you,
live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my
dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it
(02:09):
is written and is mine to avenge I rule repay,
says the Lord. On the contrary, if your enemy is hungry,
feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
This is a powerful challenge, isn't it, to not retaliate,
(02:31):
but to respond with kindness and love even to those
who wrong us. We see this most clearly demonstrated in
the life of Jesus Christ, who even as he was
wronged and he was being crucified, he prayed Father forgive them,
(02:53):
for they do not know what they are doing. And
that's in Luke chapter twenty three, verse thirty four. God's
love and mercy towards us is unconditional, and it's not
based on our behavior or how we deserve to be treated,
(03:14):
as Ephesians chapter two, verses four through five tells us,
but because of his great love for us, God, who
is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even
when we were dead in trust questions, it is by
(03:35):
grace you have been saved. This is the standard we
are called to uphold, and even in the face of mistreatment.
Let's discuss the danger of tep for tat. It's so
(03:55):
easy to fall into the trap of matching negative energy
or giving back what we get from others. But it's
Proverbs chapter fifteen, verse one warns us a gentle answer
turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
(04:17):
When we responding kind to those who around us, it
only perpetuates a cycle of retaliation and animosity. Ultimately, we
are the ones who suffer when we allow others to
control our responses and shape our character. As followers of Christ,
(04:37):
we are called to a higher standard, one of grace, love,
and forgiveness. We cannot let the actions of others dictate
how we behave as ambassadors of the King of kings
and the Lord of lords. But there there's good news,
(04:59):
And here's the good news. When we are rooted in
Jesus Christ, we are not at the mercy of other
people's actions or attitudes. As Jesus said in John sixteen
thirty three, in this world you will have trouble. But
(05:20):
take heart, I have overcome the world through the power
of the Holy Spirit. We can walk in the freedom,
peace and joy that comes from being victorious in Jesus Christ.
In Galatians five, verses sixteen through seventeen, we're instructed, so
(05:43):
I say walk by the Spirit, and you will not
gratify the desires of the flesh when we are led
by the Holy Spirit rather than our own flesh and
our own human impulses, in power to respond with grace
even in the face of mistreatment. Here are some practical tips.
(06:09):
So how can we cultivate this christ Like spirit of
grace and unconditional love. First, we can spend time in prayer, scripture, meditation,
and worship to keep our hearts and our minds focused
on God's character, not the actions of others. Remember, he
(06:34):
will keep you in perfect peace when your mind is
stayed on him. Secondly, change your perspective. Try to see
people through the lens of God's compassion, remembering that we
are all imperfect and in need of His grace. Third,
we rely on God's strength, not your own. As Philippians
(06:59):
chapter four thirteen reminds us, I can do all things
through Him who gives me strength. Friends, as ambassadors of
Jesus Christ, we are called to a higher standard. We
cannot allow the actions of others to dictate our responses
(07:23):
or control our character and our reactions. Instead, let us
be overcomers who walk in the victory of Jesus Christ.
Responding with grace, love, and forgiveness no matter what comes
our way. I know it's not easy, but when we
(07:45):
rely on the Lord, he makes it easy. As Romans
Chapter twelve, verse twenty one encourages us, do not be
overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good it. This
is the christ like example we are called to follow
(08:06):
and the freedom we have access to through the power
of the Holy Spirit. Maybe be a people who reflect
the love and mercy of our Lord and Savior of
Jesus Christ, and all that we say and do today
and always choose to live a victorious life, honoring Him
(08:29):
in Jesus' name. God bless you, and I look forward
to joining you next time of victorious through Christ. And
please share this episode with others in the morn and
night rise, and see with them in my heart con
(08:54):
finally free too high, know them me too low. With
every simple one and shrunker, I know through Him of
Thy strength my spirit enve
