Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, and welcome to Victorious through Christ I pod guests,
where we explore how to navigate life's challenges through the
lens of faith, scripture, and the overcoming power of Jesus Christ.
I'm doctor Eric is Seaborn, and today we're diving into
(00:23):
a topic that is as old as time but incredibly.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Relevant today, the leadership.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Specifically, what does it mean to lead and to follow
from a place of godly strength versus worldly and security.
Have you ever been under the authority of someone who
seemed to hoard power, a leader who tightened control, michael managed,
(00:57):
or perhaps even took away privilege and rights to make
themselves feel more secure, And if you have, you know
the feeling.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
It breeds tension, fear, and a lot of trust.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
On the surface, this looks like strength, but biblically and
often reveals something far different deep insecurity. It's the mindset
of a leader who believes that power is limited, that
it must be taken from others to be preserved for themselves.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
But what does God's words say about this?
Speaker 1 (01:45):
And how do we, as followers of Jesus Christ respond victoriously?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Let's look at the contrast the world's.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Model of leadership is often about climbing to the top,
often by stepping on others, and it's about accumulating influence, status,
and control. But Jesus presenting a radical, upside down kingdom model.
(02:17):
In Mark chapter ten, verses forty two through forty five,
Jesus causes disciples together and says, you know that those
who are regarded as rulers of the gentiles lorded over them,
and their high officials exercise authority over them.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Not so with few.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be
your servant, and whoever wants to be first, must be
slave of all. For even the son of Man did
not come to be served, but to serve and to
give his life as a ransom for many.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Did you catch that? Not so with few.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Christ's model of leadership is service. It's empowerment, it's giving,
not taking. A leader who takes away the rights and
dignity of their followers operates in the spirit of the
gentile rulers.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Jesus described.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Lording power over people, and this is the way a
pharaoh in Exodus, who hearten his heart and increased the
oppression of the Israelites the more God demanded their freedom
His insecurity and lust for control literally brought plagues.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Upon his nation and at rest.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Look at Moses cleu by God. He was initially insecure
in his own ability, saying who am I that I
should go to Phaedo? But his strength didn't come from himself,
It came from God. His leadership was not about building
his own empire, but about empowering nation to step into
(04:28):
God's primness.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
And he was a humble servant.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
A scripture even says he was the most humble man
on the friend. The and secure leader is afraid of
the power and potential of their people. The secure leader
in Christ nurtures it. They see their role as a stoward,
(04:52):
a shepherd.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Not in honor.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
So what do we do when we find o usselves
under insecure leader? How do we remain victorious in Christ
in that situation? First we remember who my true identity
and power comes from. Two Timothy one seven reminds us
(05:20):
for God, who has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power and the glove and the sound mind.
No earthly leader can take that from you. Your value,
your gifts, and your calling are given and informed by God,
(05:40):
not by any human authority.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
And that secure leader may try to them the right.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Because it threatens their own, but you are called to
let it shine. According to Matthew chapter five, verse sixteen,
second leave respond with christ like character. This is the
hardest part. I shouldn't say hardest part, most challenging problem.
(06:10):
Our human instinct might be too it bell to become
bitter or to engage in the same power struggles. But
victory through Jesus Christ looks different. It looks like Women's
chapter twelve, verses seventeen th eighteen. Do not repay anyone
(06:30):
evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right
in the eyes of everyone if it is possible. As
far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
It means doing your work heartily as forth for Lord
(06:54):
and not for men. And that's according to Colossians chapter three,
verse twenty three.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
You serve a higher of the wilm. And finally, we pray.
We pray for our leaders. We pray for a discernment.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
We pray for God to either change their heart or
if necessary, make a way of escape for his people,
just as he did in Egypt. Trust that true godly leadership.
It doesn't shrink others to make some bigger. It is
(07:33):
secure because its foundation is in Jesus Christ. The solib
it builds up in powers, answers. It points people not
to itself, into the ultimate source of strength, Jesus. So
whether you are a leader or a follower, today, remember.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Victory is not.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Found in clinging to power, but in surrendering to the
one who holds all power.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Our victory is.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Found in serving and loving, and in trusting that our
true inheritance is.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Not of this world.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
