Greetings and welcome to another episode of the Victorious through
Christ Podcast. I'm doctor Eric is Seaborne, and I am
so thankful and happy you join me today. One of
the most discouraging and hurtful experiences a believer can face
is when they feel devalued, dismissed, or overlooked by the
(02:29):
very people who are supposed to be building them up,
the leadership and the church. Sadly, this is a dynamic
that I've witnessed far too often, and it's also something
I've experienced firsthand myself. Let me share a personal story
(02:50):
with you. Over twenty years ago, there is an opening
for the chairperson of a singles ministry at my former church.
True and a friend of mine who was already leading
that ministry, told me she thought I would be a
great fit because of my deep commitment and involvement and
(03:13):
my faithful service. And when the pastor announced from the
pullpit that they were looking for volunteers, I eagerly went
to the church office and put my name in with
the secretary, and the secretary told me I was the
only person to have volunteers and signed up. But the
(03:37):
following week, when the pastor made the announcement again encouraging
people to sign up, I was confused and I had
already signed up, and about a month later I received
a call from one of the associate ministers and she
(03:58):
told me that the pastor had begged her to volunteer
for the singles ministry role, claiming that no one had
signed up or no one had volunteered. I was absolutely stunned.
I knew for a fact that I had been the
only person to express interest and responded with signing up.
(04:22):
And when I share that with the associate minister, she
was deeply apologetic, saying she had no idea, but the
damage was already done, and that experience was incredibly hurtful
and discouraging, and it made me question my worth and
wonder what was wrong with me that I was so
(04:46):
easily overlooked. Well. Far too often we see in the
church a troubling pattern of certain believers being overlooked, dismissed,
(05:06):
or excluded from serving simply because based on the biased
perspectives and prejudices of those and positions of authority. This
kind of elitism, favoritism, and spiritual pride has no place
(05:28):
in the life of the church. Yet the scriptures teach
us a very different way of viewing one another. In
the body of christ First Conscience, Chapter one, verses twenty
six through twenty nine reminds us that God chose the
foolish things of this world to shame, the wise. God
(05:51):
chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
God delights in using the very people that the world
me deem as insignificant or unimpressive, and he looks at
the heart, not outward appearances or social status. And He
(06:13):
has gifted each of us uniquely for the building up
of the whole Body of Christ. So when church leaders
fail to recognize and empower all believers to use their
God given gifts, they are not only missing out, but
(06:34):
they are actively seeking and working against the very principles
that are told to us and laid out in Scripture.
This kind of dismissive treatment towards eager volunteers and believers
(06:55):
and disciples and servants in the church is deeply troubling,
and instead, we are called to be a community that
celebrates diversity, affirm one another and our worth in Jesus Christ,
and provide us opportunities to flourish and contribute as members
(07:17):
of the Body of Christ. Anything less than that falls
short of the biblical standard. Now, my friends, if you
have ever been on the receiving end of this kind
of dismissive treatment from church leadership, know that the problem
(07:38):
lies with them, not with you. Your value and your
giftings are not determined by the opinions of others, but
by the God who created you. I encourage you to
hold fast to that truth. Don't allow that prejudice or
(08:02):
their biases to define you or steal your joy and
your sense of purpose. Instead, keep pressing toward the mark
of your high calling in your walk with Jesus Christ.
Continue seeking ways to serve and trust that God will
use you mightily for His glory. Regardless of how you
(08:24):
may be perceived by others. You are a vital part
of the body of Christ, and when the church functions
as it should, your unique contribution will be celebrated and empowered.
Stay strong, stay faithful, and know that you're savior. Jesus
Christ sees you and delights in you. He will use
(08:48):
what the world sees as weak and foolish to shame
the wise that includes you and me. I've often been
pulling this because people understandate me because of my Albanism
and my visual impairment, and also my voice, but I
(09:10):
didn't let it stop me because I knew that God
wanted to use me, and I serve him, not man.
I serve God as a service to man, to honor
and glorify Him and draw others to Him through the
Holy Spirit. Towards Jesus Christ, the One try You and
(09:31):
God Fathering the name of Jesus, I thank you for
encouraging and uplifting those who are listening. And if they
have ever faced any discrimination within the church or spiritual abuse, Lord,
I thank you for healing them and restoring them and
guiding them towards You through your Holy Spirit. Thank you
for teaching them, leading them and comforting them. In your name.

a blessed week on purpose as you walk in your
victory through Jesus Christ, honoring and glorifying Him for the
