Peter Johansen er matematiker og professor i datalogi. I 1969 blev han ansat på Københavns Universitet og det dengang nyetablerede Datalogisk Institut. I en samtale med professor Mads Nielsen fortæller han, hvad der bragte ham på sporet af datalogi og om sit arbejde med blandt andet digital billedbehandling og mønstergenkendelse og nogle af de ubesvarede faglige spørgsmål, han stadig arbejder med.
