But we're gonna talk about what they can do to
get right against the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates. But nice game
from Tigre's Hall Burton last night.

the problem is is that I had to hear all
of the time people talk about how he's a superstar,
how he's having a legendary playoff run, how some people

Haliburton led offenses keep getting keep beating great teams in
the playoffs. It's becoming undeniable. This is the type of
garbage and malarkey that I've had to hear about that
Tyrese Haliburton is arguably a top five player in the NBA.
Just absolute nonsense, absolute junk. And I had to hear

being voted by his peers as the most overrated player

He was overrated in the regular season, mister I didn't
make an All Star team. He was overrated at the

the start. There was just too much noise. And I
remember going back to that draft and a lot of
people talk about, man, we passed on, we passed on,

a lot of the narrative where he was angling to
not be in Detroit. He was angling to go to

a place into a situation which he thought he could
then ultimately control his destination. Because when you're getting picked
amongst the top. You know, in the lottery, you're not
necessarily going to a desirable situation, whereas Neil will say
a desirous situation. But that from that point forward, and
I get it, they are different eras the Pistons didn't
give people of these of these last few generations, last

few decades much to really latch onto so that you
actually hate the other team. So if you were a
basketball fan, you had to be able to cheer for
some of the other teams as well. And I get that,
But for me, it just ran so deep from four
and before that. When I do see Haller Burton, especially
now mixed with the Indiana Pacers logo across the chest,
it's just that much more hate and fire for me.

And then when you look at the Eastern Conference. We've
talked about this going back to last season, going back
to this season that just ended. We said this about
twenty games, and I said, I always look for the
dysfunctional teams and I knocked them. I don't care what
the preseason expectation said. Philly was one of those teams
that we talked about. Nope, get them out of here, Orlando,
It'll be about injuries and what do we see all

these teams start to get knocked off. For me personally,
sometimes I think that there are some blows that can
really send you really and I believe all of this
energy getting here to this point, not that the Pacers
are going to be bad, but that I do believe
that this could be a blow to them if they
don't win this finals. I want the Pistons to have
everything possible working in their favor in this Eastern Conference,

because this is the most wide open it's been for
any for them in a very long time. I don't
know the last time that it's matched up to where
they're trending upward as a top four playoff team and
the rest of the East is pretty much trending down
except for you got those Pacers that are sitting right there,
and I want to see them get popped in a face.

involving that. There's air Mee Smith going five for five
from three. There's the Pacers going six of ten from
three in the fourth quarter in Game one of the Finals,
with Tyrese Haliburton making zero of them and assisting on one.
There's the Gary Trent disaster class in Game five where
he turned the ball over twice. There's the Donovan Mitchell

offensive foul. There's a lot that happened that had nothing
to do with Tyrese Haliburton that put him in those
positions to have the chance to make those game winning
shots and he made him.

Finals has been for Tyrese Haliburton. It's not been a
superstar run. It's not been an all time great playoff
individual run. It's been a run in which he's had

gonna take that away from him. But what he has

guys too, is where it's just like, what in the

year at the same place that Tyree did as it

When I got out to All Star Weekend amongst other media,
amongst other people covering this, and Kate in that body
was championing and celebrating him there, that was the crazy part.
To me, I'm like, why can't this just happen back home?
They they it's not as if they talk about him

as if he's perfect. But it was just people who understood,
who cover other teams, who are covering other players, and
who are looking at this thing, probably from a more
fair approach than we are. They're looking at K and
I'm saying this guy is one of your future faces
of the league period period. And that to me, it
was different too, because you can tell, yes, there's a
bunch of all stars here, but Kay was a little

bit different than some of the others. You could tell.

of these all stars are you trading K for? I know,
nobody in Detroit's trading Carrie for Tyler Hill.

I believe it is now time for the Detroit Pistons
to do something similar for their young star who's now

end of the season, you have to have a decision

that the Pacers are in the finals. But the Pacers,
to me, what they've shown over this playoff run is
that they are a great team. They're a well coached team.

gonna get all the credit for that, by the way,
but he brought the Pacers back. But that's what the

Mathern in Game three, whether it was TJ McConnell. Last night,

in my entire life. He's become a media creation. He's

not a star, not a star. He is a really
really good player, really good player, not.

a nod to give to him, but when you look

at the overall volume and usage and such, it is
absolutely crazy. Man. I want to see him be able
to make an All Star game or two, you know,
in a roll before I'm able to call him a star.
But he's putting up just good numbers, like one of
those guys who I believe is always going to be
considered good, but not necessarily making All Star games. That's
just how I view him. It just happened this past

season and they were at a higher seed than the Pistons.
You would have thought that Halliburton and Siaka would have
gotten in if the notion or a narrative was that
he was a star. But when the rest of the
league got a chance, because how the k get in?
We already know that he got more fan votes, you know,
but just found himself just on the outside. I don't
know howllom the song of That's gonna be a thing.
Seven hundred over sevens and fifty thousand fan votes is crazy.

So then how did he get in? The coaches they
voted him in over Tyre's Halliburton. That should tell you something.
But there's a lot of people who they just don't
care about that, And it's crazy when you look at
K Cunningham's stats just overall. When I'm looking at Halleburn's,
I'm like, all right, cool, decent. But when you look
at Kay the overall volume of twenty six nine and
six on forty seven percent field goals shooting even better

effective and true shooting. That's why I'm just like, what
are people talking about? Six seven? We see K when
Cade and OK see when they match up, do you
see who guards him lou Dort? And then they hate
Then they head shit yeah, shit, yeah, That's what I'm saying.
Then they headge a couple players, and then when it
gets in the crunch time, you know what you see?
You see K being able to actually defend lou Dort

and it's like, I wish that sometimes these conversations, even
on the national media, when they talk about this stuff,
or when these people like the Ringer, when they rank
these things, I wish it was more in the situation
or more in the light of these types of contexts.
But this is where I continue to accept this notion
even if I don't want to. The only way this

narrative is gonna change is if the Pistons continue to win,
and they have to find a way to win big.
Right now, the Pacers are sitting in the finals, and
so it's like, no matter what I want to say
about one, mister Halliburton, he's sitting in a position that
we all know we want our guy in. But it

the playoffs sets. That's Cage's first postseason run of twenty
five eight and eighty. Know, he got to shoot way

the twenty five eight and eight with all the attention
on him, I'm telling you this right now, watch out
rest of the league, because he's figuring stuff out. This

I know this next season beyond is about to be
absolutely insane. I think he gonna be. I think he's
going to cement himself as one of the faces of
this league. And I'm seeing other people out there now
in national media calling Kay Cunningham a superstar, while US

if Tyre's Tyler Burton is a star. And that's what

and the Michigan headphones off. National media now is telling
me that kid is a top twenty, top fifteen player
and a superstar, a transcending towards or stepping towards superstar.

not going to talk about Zadaria Smith. We're gonna kind
of skirt the question. We're only gonna talk about the
guys who are in house for the Lions right now.
And I get that. But the way he was propping
up Marcus Davenport, the way that he was propping up
Aqm Hassenin, I think that Brad Holmes feels like what
they have in house right now is enough. Notice he

barely even He completely basically glossed over the fact that
Marcus Davenport was hurt. All he saw was somebody who
was playing good football for the Lions in all two games.

But that's all that he really sees.

from the practice squad. All he sees is that when
AQM was up there and playing that he did some
good things. He doesn't see Ahmad Hasanin as like another

played didn't play football until later than life, he was

born in Egypt, et cetera. But this is a guy
that had insane production in college. And obviously when talking
about Aiden, we all know what the type of superstar
that he is. So I think I think Brad Holmes
is comfortable with or without Zadarius Smith. I still think
Ze is more essential than some people do, but Brad

Holmes feels comfortable. And I think that this completely confirms
everything that I said that Brad Holmes he's he's fine
with or without Zadarias Smith.

And that was one of the things that we talked about,
you know, maybe about a month month and a half ago,
and we said, you know what, this is his plan.
This is what he's effectively defensive line wise, He's running
back what he started last year with, proving that he
believes in his vision and that injuries aren't necessarily One

go with some more healthy players. And we've seen him
go and and not necessarily target, but at least draft
some of those guys. But I now realize and recognize
even more so, I don't think I had anything really
to do with the injury history. If the Dodgers believe
that they're gonna be good no matter what their past is,
I believe that Brad Holmes is good to go. And
so you look at the signings he's done, and you
look at the people he paid. It's our guys, but

it's guys who are coming back from injuries and such.
That's the only component of it that makes me just
a little bit concerned. But again, in the vacuum, this
team one, this team has been winning. They've only been
treading up under these Brad Holmes and so far the
things that we believe would trip them up just have
it do. I believe that Areas needs to be on
the team. Absolutely. Part of me wonders, though, how much

of it is Brad, Like, all right, already, me and
Z already talked, We already know what the deal is.
I address this with people already, so they know what
it is because I do believe that there is a
number that works for the Lions that might not work
for Big Z. But if Big Z is like, you
know what, we could do something special this year. We
already know that Brad said that they did talk, and
so I do wonder how much of that goes into

what he would talk about, because you're right, he went
out of his way. It almost seemed like and I
I feel bad thing going out of his way because
it's his guys, it's his team, and you're a month
and a half away from the first preseason game. Think
about that, So I think that he is going to
effectively do what he's always done. They've been truthful, they've
shown the light where they believe it needs to be shined,
and largely those notions have come to truth. So if

he's saying that these guys guys that are gonna go
out there and be dogs of a different nature even
in what we expected and even more than what we
saw in the past, wire to the point where it's
all right, we gotta trust in Brad. But you're right
for there to be no mention of Zadarius Smith, it's
just like man, especially with you know what, we hear
out of zadarias Smith. We see him making all the overtures,
we see him representing Detroit on national stages and out

when he's with cast Off, and when he was asked
point blank period about it, he said, it's gonna happen soon.
So that's what makes me believe maybe they have some
type of Hey, this is what we could make happen
if this were to happen. And if that's the case,
good on Brad Holmes so having his vision, having his plan,
because I do believe this, when you're talking about building
some long term success, you really want a system that

other players are gonna know and respect from the beginning,
even if it doesn't job with them. And I do
believe that this sets of precedence with other players that
they may have to bring in. May sign may come
from the outside, and you're gonna have to play some
type of ball with Brad Holmes because of Look, you
would see other people when the Patriots and how they
viewed their team, even though they were winning Super Bowls,

they still put a premium on their team. And so
if you were gonna come there, sometimes you knew I
gotta cut the deal to come there, I know what
I'm stepping into. I do hope that if Brad Holmes
is doing that I took the capitol.

Say, is that he could fall off a cliff in
his age thirty three season versus age thirty two. I
highly doubt that, by the way, and one of the

of possible thirty four games, is that even when he's
been healthy, even when he's.

His snapcount is more aligned with being a rotational piece,
a very very good rotational piece in certain years. But
he's never been a high snapcount guy. He's only played

for comparison, Zadarius Smith played six hundred and thirteen last
year and has played many more than that in many seasons.

So Marcus Davenport to me as a third edge rusher
would be so ideal as the starting.

But at the end of the day, I did say
earlier that a big season from Marcus Davenport wouldn't necessarily
shock me either. But I also think it would be

they're trying to see this thing in a different light
regardless of what we want with big Z. They do
have some players here, and uh, you know, earlier it

but I figured we'd at least bring his up first.

I mean, Pascal, I mean, here's the thing, friend of
the show on the network. He's also had a lot
of nagging injuries throughout his career. He hasn't been super productive.

where Levio becomes one of the more intriguing players on
our defensive line. Who can he get to that level

this is where Brad Holmes is gonna come away looking

on that defensive line. I wonder, if you take all

injury aside, how confident are people that the defensive line
will step into their potential.
