Speaker 1 (00:03):
Wake Up Woodward. We are starting off your day with
a brand new crew.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Meat Broder.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
I can't control my arm sometimes I've lived there, just
kind of flying Detroit kool Aid.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Y'all got kool Aid. But with the Wake Up Woodward crew,
he's actually a part of the family. Ask me about
my reader, okay?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Along with JB and KG, Wake Up Woodward gets you
all of your Detroit sports talk every morning eight to
ten am live on Woodward Sports, a show for Detroit
by Detroit with people from Detroit. Tell Siri they're set
in alarm because it's time to wake Up Woodward.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
What of though, people is wake up Boo? Where's your boy? Brenda?
Dad k Detroit kool Aid, your credential pissons reporter writer
for the network. We got Flannel sad to Vetter, the
squad to better than network, all sports lover and one
third of Woodward Wings and I'm seeing it over there
the white Claw victory shades because those Detroit Tigers won again. Man,
and I'm fired up because we got a nice cast.
(01:12):
We got a good crew in here today. Chat family
has always You all are the most important part of WACOB.
What we're so going ahead and smash that like button.
But the Tigers man. Big win for the Tigers over
the Oils five three. But there was so much going on.
I know, we had boots on the ground all over
the city last night. So it was a lot going
on at home, a lot going on all over for Detroit. Uh.
(01:33):
And we will we will, we will tell the people
about it. But you want to tell them what's on
the doctor.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Absolutely, we're gonna talk some Tigers. It's funny these uh
never gets old wearing victory shades, but I feel like
I wear them damn near every day. But that's the
that's such as reality when your baseball team is that
twenty games, Hey, such as reality when your team is
twenty games over five hundred. But yeah, we're gonna talk
about last night's game. But also one mister Zadarius Smith
(01:58):
was at the bat he awards, had some interesting comments.
We are going to break those down, the ongoing saga
of Zadarias Smith will he won't he another turn? Another
turn in that? So I can't wait to break that down.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Hey, another turn. Shout out to also Detroit native in
Star Cash Doll as well, So shout to her. She's
always putting on for the city on a big stage,
and that's what I love to see. The representation is
getting more and more for Detroit out there, and more
and more people are falling in love with the city.
Who will come in here? I got to talk to
some people at the Big three event yesterday and we're
(02:35):
gonna get more into that during a Woolper Pisson segment.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
But yeah, we got Rod Beard, yo.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
But guys, Joe Johnson, who you're gonna hear from him? Man,
he thinks that he should have been a Detroit Piston.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Oh wow, yes, okay.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
He was like, man, it was one spot of one.
You know what, we'll save it. We'll save it man.
But they're excited to be here. Bro, Joe Johnson, Jeremy
Pargo and you know what, just the smoothest man bro
t false. I'm sorry it used to be you. You've
(03:09):
been moved down a number two, which is not bad.
And you got the hat. But George Garvin, the iceman
in the building, he's the coach. Shout out to him
as well, and he had a lot of nice things
to say about what they're gonna be doing here, obviously
about the city which is his hometown. So shout out
to them. Man, I can't wait till we get into that,
but we do got to talk about these Detroit Tigers.
They take out the Oils five three, They moved twenty
(03:30):
games over five hundred. We keep saying this. At first,
it was like, Yo, they look like the best team
in baseball. Yo, look at the record record wise it
says that, But there was still some reserves about putting
them or saying it with your chest. And you know what,
I like how it's worthed here flannel and the thing.
I'm just I'm gonna act as if this isn't all caps.
The Tigers are the best team in baseball right now.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, and Dante one to five to one puts in
as super chat, which I was just about to mention,
but I think it is definitely worth repeating. And the
Tigers are eight games ahead of the Twins. Yes, they
are eight games ahead of the Twins, who are in
second place, nine games ahead of the Guardians, who we
know that the Guardians still appear to have the Tigers
(04:15):
number a bit, So you want to be as far
clear of them as absolutely possible. Hopefully you don't even
have to face them come playoff. Time and nine and
a half ahead of the Royals. And as I've said
about this team, whenever usually besides for this past White
Sox series, when the Tigers have had the opportunity to
take out the trash.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
They do it.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
And don't get me wrong, the Orioles. They've got some
talented players. We all know about what Gunner Henderson is
and has been. Ryan o'hearns having a heck of a year.
Jackson Holliday, we know how hyped he was. He's finally
starting to put it together a bit. Adlee Rutchman was
once great, has fallen off a cliff. But you understand
what I mean. They have talented players, but they're pitching
has been awful. And after last night, the Orioles are
(04:56):
now thirteen games under five hundred. So yes, they qualify
as the trash for now. But last night I want
to start with this because I have been somebody who has,
at times, and probably unfairly last year, was a little
critical of a AJ Hinch and even sometimes this year
thinks he gets glazed a little bit too much from
(05:17):
time to time. But I'll glaze him.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Come on, best team in baseball just for this season.
But you got to go back to last year too,
from trade deadline on.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I understand, but there's a lot of people that every
time anything happens, Spencer Trocolsen hits a home run that
was Hinch, Riley Greenhills hits a home run that was Hitch,
a terror school pitches start out that was Hitch. But
you know what, don't listen to this man.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
I'm looking for the aj Hinch Krispy Kreme this morning.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Oh absolutely, I'm gonna give it to him because I
really like the way that he handled the pitching staff
and handled Sawyer Gibson Long in particular, because Sawyer Gibson
Long is somebody who for the Tigers has a lot
of talent, showed some things in twenty twenty three, was
always somebody who was thought of highly in terms of
Tiger's prospect. But this season he's been thrust into duty,
(06:03):
probably earlier than aj Hinch and the Tigers organization would
have liked, due to the injuries to Jackson Job and
rhees Olsen, and in his first start he looked a
little bit shaky. However, this time, with Sawyer Gibson Long
toying the bump, aj Hinch decided to use an opener instead.
Brent Herder, who pitched two and two thirds gave up
(06:24):
a run, has had a really good year himself. And
then it was actually Chase Lee who finished off the
third after Gunner Henderson had tied the game with an
RBI single, and then after that they turned it over
to Sawyer Gibson Long, and as the Tigers bats started
to heat up throughout the game, it gave Sawyer Gibson
Long a cushion. He ended up going four and two
(06:46):
thirds of one earned run ball and really thrived in
that role. And we all know that aj Hinch has
had to at points during his Tiger's tenure, particularly last
year and even a bit this year, had to resort
to some form of pay chaos and using openers, and
we all know that that's more prevalent in the MLB nowadays.
And this situation was one in which Sawyer Gibson Long
(07:09):
thrived in whereas he struggled when he was a starter.
I just wonder if that's how Sawyer Gibson Long is
going to be used in his next upcoming starts, and
whether or not aj Hinch has found something. We all
know that he is one who is willing to tinker
with things and make adjustments on the fly. And I
thought aj Hinch was brilliant last night. Sawyer Gibson Loong,
don't get me wrong, still had to go out there
(07:30):
and throw. But I thought aj Hinch the way he
adjusted Sawyer Gibson Loong's usage was a very very, very
very well done, mister Hinch.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Aj Hinch is all it's perfect Sam weezyd three and three.
And you are starting to agree way too much for
my comfort, or at least having certain sentiments that align
way too closely, he says.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Not.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Aj Hinch had to earn it for me. I thought
he was an astros merchant. But he does believe now.
Aj Hinch is like that.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
He is. But I think some people have a little
bit of a misunderstanding on a manager's role on a team.
Sometimes it's sometimes you just throw the lineup out there
and they play, and sometimes you got to be a
little bit more hands on an a tactician. And we've
seen aj Hinch do both that.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
You know, when did it click for you with a
j Hinston, Because this has been a while, This has
been a wild ride for a J Hinton that support.
This went from should he even be the manager to
you're saying last years when they click field, you know
not a j Hinch is like that, because I'm one
of the ones that, like Riley Green, how you ride
with ups and the downs. I'm not expecting perfection out
of a J Hinch, but I have gotten to the
(08:37):
point where it is completely trust in aj Hinch. I'm
looking up what the team is continued to do over
the last I don't know how many games can we
stream together now eighty one hundred, one hundred and twenty.
It's we're going to be soon coming up on a
full games amount of season, a full season amount of games.
And aj Hinch has been the has had his team
with the best record in baseball over that same span.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, and it was it was at the end of
last year, of course, when the Tigers made that run,
and even though they had Trek Scuobel who was still
pitching at cy young level. And you saw people come
back from injuries like Parker Meadows and well, Parker Meadows
was like Miners and injury that like Carry Carpenter injury,
Spencer Troglsen came back and was better when he came back.
(09:20):
A lot of the reason why they were able to
make that run when Schooble wasn't starting was because of
the pitching chaos and the way that aj Hinch was
able to handle the bullpen. And for the record, even
though I'm the hinge hater, which I'm not, I actually
think that people at times this season have even been
a little bit too nitpicky, like when people were criticizing
(09:41):
him for taking out Schooble against the Royals and putting
in Brisky. That was just one game. I know people
thought he was using Andy a Banyas too much, which
he probably was. But at the end of the day,
they're now twenty games over five hundred, so there's really
nothing you could do. There's nothing you can criticize Hints
for this year.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Nothing, There's nothing at all. But but that's where it
leads me to the legend t false because I I
don't know. I I guess the next question is what's
next for the Tigers And you got this pivotal trade
deadline ahead, you have still a whole lot of games
ahead and a lot of expectations. What's next for them?
If if they're putting themselves in the category in the
position where there's not much left you can criticize. You've
(10:21):
seen this team, You've covered these teams t false, you've
seen good Tigers baseball. You've seen them also fall off
and that meet that expectation. What's next for them to
make sure that this team can meet those expectations. I
think the next step is for canch.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Ownership to get together and really.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Look at this team and say, what does this team
need to be successful in the playoffs? And I mean,
you get win a bunch of games, but if you
see some flaws that you can.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Get correctors, then you should do that.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Let's say, if they're willing take the next step, Let's say,
if they're willing.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
To take the bet of making this team ready.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
That's the thing I don't And another thing I was
thinking about.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Detroit is the birth.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Place of new ideas because of Hinch Dan dam Yeah
what up though? That dude, Justine? Are you ready to
go with the stick Mike? Is stick Micah working? I don't.
I don't know. We gotta figure out if tease Mike
is working or not. If not, we're gonna rock with
the stick miccause he was over there spitting facts. I
(11:35):
wanted the people to be able to definitely hear.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
Of them, but justin Yeah, I just think that you're
at a point where you're a right handed bad a way.
You're another good relief picture away, and with your starting
pitching injuries, you may be a starting picture away for
really putting yourself in that class of being the true
favor in the AL. With the way that they're all
the teams are depleted around the AL, I think that
(11:59):
you are in the driver's seat right now to make
free trade deadline conditions to really bolster this roster. And
I think that as they continue to win, you continue
to have to think, all right, they got to make
a move here and shure up this roster.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Hey, And that's that's one hundred percent fair. I'm really
curious because I think we're still at a point where
we don't know who all is going to be available.
I know bobashet is somebody that has been talked about,
has been I don't even know about rumor just somebody
that you think might be available. But I've always but
I've continued to say Toronto Blue Jays are still trying
(12:35):
to make the playoffs. They've got a talented team, they're
right in the midst of the wild card race, so
maybe they would rather make a run, get into the
playoffs and see what happens. We'll see how it all
shakes out, because there's gonna be some guys who are
on expiring contracts who have no real use to the
team that they're on now, because that good players playing
(12:58):
on bad teams and still put up numbers as a
tail as old as us time, because baseball is the
ultimate team sport. But we shall see. But at the
end of the day, this team right now, even though
they might not be complete and you'd like them to
definitely explore the trade deadline at the absolute, at the
absolutely like less like the lower end, there's still a
(13:20):
really good team. And with the guys who have came
back recently, like Wen siel Perez for example, that's a
pseudo trade deadline ad with the way that he's been playing,
even though it's not he wasn't available for the first
fifty games or so. Parker Meadows as well, even though
he's scuffling about.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
I see Jay and Chad great another show about Zadarius
bro We're talking about the Tigers with Victory shades on
and a guy that's literally in a roddy green jersey.
Over here, Jay, I want you as we say what
up down to some friends? Put something in the chat
about the tigers. About what you think we should talk about? Yes,
we got to talk about Zadarias Smith, especially when a
(13:56):
man himself confirms something that realistically blew up everywhere yesterday.
So I don't know if people are living underneath the rock,
but we're gonna definitely get there. Jabe smooth, who do
you want us to say? What up? Thought to? H
see over here? I gotta tell.
Speaker 7 (14:11):

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Dot com jungle Cats. This one the Detroit Tigers. Another victory,
you know, and well on the way too. In my
opinon another series win. This is just all they do.
It's been insane to be able to track what this
team has done because you can dag near account on
them to go and win at least two games in
(17:47):
every single series. They've done that in all except for
a handful this year, and they've played through a pluck
thrower gas already coming up on seventy games played this year,
which they will reach in this Oiel series. And right
after that, they got a couple of series that are
definitely gonna be tough. I think the Reds win is
to handle your business series. Then you got the Pirates
and the Rays and the Athletics. So for them to
(18:08):
be able to have gotten through that gauntlet, remember we
were predicting different records that they need to come through
that stretch of games with. They acquit it themselves quite well.
And not just that, but them extending their lead. The
last time we did the check in on where they
were in the standings about a week ago, they were
what six games up, six games up on the Twins,
(18:29):
six and a half up on the Guardians. So when
you read off that, this team is winded even more.
And at that time the Yankees were just a game back.
Now they're two and a half games back. In Ale. Overall,
the Tigers are mashing. Man, they're doing work. But not everybody.
Let me see here, Not everybody is. Some people are like,
not so fast. It might still be some concerns here.
(18:50):
Al in the chat he says we should be careful
going for the Orioles and the Tigers. Positions have been
intrinsically linked. Orioles were twenty one games over five hundred
this time. Laste, mind you. The Tigers are twenty over
right now while we were lacking. Positions are completely revarsed.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
One year later I just with the Orioles, they've got
no pitching and that's the biggest difference. Their only pitcher
was Corbin Burns, who they let walk, and he was
only there for one year, and unfortunately Corbyn Burns blew
out his elbow. With Arizona, they don't have got like
they're one of the worst pitching teams in all of
Major League Baseball. That's the biggest difference, and we all
(19:28):
know that that's not the case with the Tigers. I mean,
if you want numbers, the Orioles currently have the third
worst team ERA and all of MLB. And one of
their hyped prospects, cade Povich. You saw him on the
bump last night. He's a bum right now. He's an
absolute scrub as of right now. We know that he's talented,
(19:48):
I guess. But speaking of which, we kind of figured
that some of the bats, or the bats in totality
would have a bit of a git right last night
against one cade Povich, and I would say that they did.
Even though it wasn't like the explosion that we've seen
from them at times, it was still five runs, multiple
players having multi hit games, Spencer Trokelsen with a big
(20:09):
home run, Riley Green getting on base three times, Zach
McKinstry with a couple of hits, Wenzel Perez with a
couple of hits. They did their job. And that's another
thing that this Tigers team needs to do and continue
to do, is when you go up against teams like
the Orioles and starters like kde Povich, pound them and
pound him. And I think they did enough. They certainly
did enough. Five runs usually gonna get it done.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
If you're the Tigers, Yeah, definitely. But you know, it's
interesting because over the first forty games, we believed, you
know what, the offense is really really matching, and I'm
glad that we braced ourselves. We believed, you know what,
things will come back to some type of normalcy because
what they were doing at hitting anywhere between eight getting
eight to ten hits per game, and they were getting
(20:51):
between four and a half and five and a half
runs per game over the first forty to fifty games
of the season. That was absolutely insane. But we saw
the bats start to cool off a little bit, we
still saw this team win and in fact increase their lead.
I believe this the I think that the Detroit Tigers
are quickly proving themselves to be one of the most
complete teams in all of baseball. That's what I believe
(21:12):
is spurring them. You know, we still look and we
see with our own microscope. You know, hey, maybe they
need an extra bat, maybe they need an extra arm.
But every single time, even in the Guardian series, to us,
we were losing our crap bro people's hairline was re
going back just a little bit further. People were aging
at a little bit faster rate. Lost that first one,
(21:33):
lost and second, and lost that third one, and then
we got a little bit of medicine with schoobul on
the mound. But then we went literally the next series
and realized, wait a second, the Guardians are back even
further than us. Every now and then, you're gonna hit
your little speed bumps. But this team has continued to show,
you know what, they're a little bit different because over
the last twenty games, it looks a lot different than
over the first forty to fifty three point sixty five
(21:53):
runs per game in their last twenty that to me,
and then one hundred and fifty five total hits over
their last twenty that to me is why you see
this team they figured something out here and they are
gonna be robust to really a lot of the ups
and the downs. I know you said you want to
talk about the hitters, and that's where it's nice to
see the bats park up and get there, get right.
Sometimes you need these serieses, and I do believe that
(22:14):
over the next maybe three four five, we will see
more of what we saw over the first thirty or
forty games of the season out of the bats. I
think we're gonna start to see that return.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
And in the fact that the Tigers have been able
to win these games and extend their lead in the
Al Central despite the runs per game being downs. That
says something about the Tigers team of the pitching, but
it also says during the ebbs and flows of a
baseball season, sometimes the teams that you need to slump
a little bit do the Tigers some favors. So shout
(22:45):
out to the opponents of the Guardians, Twins and Royals
lately for doing your job as well. And speaking of
the bats, we see three one three, just straw manning
for the purpose of straw manning. Sam, Are these torque
bombs meaningless?
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Too?
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Wheezy, You're you're acting kind of like a bitch ass
torque slappy right now, with all due respect, with all
due respect, because I have never once said one bad
thing about.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
Spencer Torkleson this year.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
I've continued to be complimentary even when some people lamented
some of his slumps. I was still there being like,
it's different, he's gotten more, a better approach at the plate,
he's walking more, he's still got good numbers, and he
always manages to snap out of it. I predicted him
to snap out of it in this last series against
the Cubs, and he did. I will never apologize for
(23:42):
criticizing him last year, though, but what I did do
at the beginning of the season is say I was wrong.
I didn't expect this from you, mister tork and now
you're playing great. And I think right now Spencer Toorkulsen,
barring another slump or a catastrophic slump, is probably going
to be in the All Star Game. So weezy miss
miss me with that, You're just your homo erotic man
(24:04):
love from Spencer Trumvilson is showing, come on, stop being
so sensitive.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Hey, you know what, who's hearted in the chat? I
see you man, He says a Tiger's slump, and he
puts that in quotes to six and four in their
last ten. Meanwhile, the Twins, Guardians, and Royals are all
four and six in their last ten, while the Yankees
are five and five, which shows why the Tigers continue
to increase that lead. Man. They continue to just go
off there and win two out of three, two out
(24:30):
of three, two out of three. Uh, Steve O, baby
kool aid? How can there be concerns when you're on
top of the mountain like the Detroit Tigers, I have
no concerns. Like that song, all they do is when
all they do is win, win, win, no matter what.
But that's the thing. I want to be able to
drink all the kool Aid, I really do, and that's
why I had to tap in with the legend a
little bit earlier. This is a situation where it's just
(24:52):
an absolute lock. This is where Detroit Tigers fans are do.
We just ride the wave as if you know what
everything is good. This team is going to cash in
on all the exp because part of me, as a
Detroit fan, no matter how much cool Aid I drink,
there's still we all know as a Detroit fan, there's
still a little bit of that skepticism that just kind
of lives in the back, like what could go wrong?
Everything is rolling right. They're even overcoming adversity. They're overcoming slumps.
(25:16):
They're overcoming if Riley Green doesn't hit one night, then
they're overcoming some nights when it's just Riley Green hitting.
You know, It's it's an insane thing to be out
with the Tigers because you look at the records and
it's like, Yo, this team is twenty games over five
hundred and they're leading everybody in the majors right now,
and they've been doing this for a long time, not
just this season. It reminds me of the start of
(25:37):
the Lions run, when that last half of the season
they were one of the best teams in all the football.
Then the second half it was like, hey, listen, we're
here BTA and now we're seeing the Detroit Tigers do
the same thing. And I'm like, is it finally safe?
Is it finally tafe for me to feel the ways
that I did from like six, like eleven, I mean
(25:57):
to eleven twelve, Like, is it finally back to that
point with those Tigers? Because those Tigers always had real,
real World Series expectations that got there a little bit differently.
But it's so crazy now to see this team going
off there and doing what they're doing and to know
what they've strung this together. We talk about this momentum
carryover from one season to the next. Over the offseason,
(26:18):
this Tigers team just didn't matter. They didn't care. It's
an amazing thing to see right now.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
I mean, I think it has to do with if
you have some concerns, it's because when you're a team
that's twenty games over five hundred, when you made the
playoffs last year, when you're on the up and up,
at some point, you're gonna have to get it done
come playoff time. And we know that the playoffs. If
you have a couple of bad days, if a hitter
(26:43):
goes through a slump, if a usual reliable pitcher gets rocked,
you might bow out sooner than you should. So I
understand people not wanting to get too excited, But to me,
just on the day to day coverage of the Tigers,
I don't care if they was a game. I don't
care if a player or two goes through a slump,
as long as they continue to take care of business,
(27:07):
get that division title. All these guys continue to put
up good numbers. I'm relatively fine, but.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
T fause so you're telling me it's safe for me
to just put away the concerned with the Tigers as
a fan. Think about it, and we've we've been punched
in the nuts before. Man, with these Tigers, it is
really safe. They're there because you were the one who
told me it was safe to believe in the Lions
when realistically those were fans of it, they would drink
the kool a. A lot of people say, no, they're
not ready, they're not there yet. He said, oh no,
this team is Super Bowl contender, and what they do.
(27:34):
They went out there and you said they're for real.
You said, I've been around this organization for a long time.
I've seen how it runs, I've seen how it works.
I know the people you know. And now you're looking
at the Tigers who've overgone this this this overhaul, man,
like you're telling me it's getting to that point. You're
ready to give them that stamp heave the Lions never safe.
You have to understand it's never safe. There's always things
(27:55):
that can happen. Baseball is such a long sport so long,
one hundred and sixty two games, and I believe this
a team manufactures itself five to six times during the season.
So what aj Hinch is doing and what the rest
of them are doing is trying to figure out how
can this team be the best of itself in August
(28:19):
and September and October and November December they play right. So,
but in baseball, I don't care who you are, twenty
seven Yankees, the old six Tigers. You're going to go
through a slump. You're going to go through periods where
you're like, what the hell is going on here? And
(28:40):
you can't figure that out. Tigers haven't really been through that.
If you want to talk about a three game losing streak,
that's not a slump. I'm talking about losing nine out
of ten, nine out of eleven or something like that.
And that's going to happen at some point. Now I'm
gonna tell you when it does happen, don't freak out.
You know, notice gonna be people who do, though, will
(29:02):
if there were one of them, I want I listen.
I promise to be on good behavior, man, I really do.
I you know, when I look at the Tigers. It's
almost like, Okay, I think we can start to use
that elite word. And you know what, national media was
setting it saying it before us. We covered it on
the show what about a month and a half ago,
when they were what twenty thirty games into the season,
they were like, Uh, these Tigers are actually for real.
(29:23):
They didn't even say might be. They said if they
were beating up on the dredges of the MLB, we
would say they might be. But look at who they're winning.
Look at their records against these teams, and that also
included an on three sweep at the hands of the Dodgers,
and there were still like four or five games up
on teams with the winning record teams that it made
the playoffs over the last years. Like that, to me
(29:44):
is incredible. They were ahead of it. When we talk
about like how hard it's been for some of these
other teams to get their respect that had the schedule,
it seems like there are, at least from a national perspective,
a lot of people who believe this Tigers team is
for real. And I've even heard some of the narratives
when you listen to some of the pop and some
of the broadcasts, they're almost as if, like like almost
with a voice of where Floyo takes tone against the Lions,
(30:07):
they almost take tone. I just accept it. They're here,
this is the Tigers, that's true. But here's what management
needs to figure out. I think I said this earlier,
but I was being censored. You know, their job is
to figure out what adjustments do we need to make?
And even though things are going great, and even though
fans can be saying, hey, stuff is perfect, you as
(30:30):
a front office person, can't look at it that way.
You have to look at Okay, what happens when this
team has to play somebody best four out of seven,
the best three out of five or whatever it is.
How are how's this team gonna get through this season? Pitching, batting?
What are the flaws? And you know you can't just
(30:52):
sit back and say, okay, the Tigers. Let's say there
are forty games above five hundred. You just can't sit
back and say there are forty games above five hundred,
no worry about You always have to worry.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Oh absolutely, there's I mean it's a tail as old
as time, teams running through the regular season and then
flaming out in the playoffs. I mean, heck, the Dodgers
are a great example. They've they've been the best regular
season team in baseball probably over the past fifteen years
in totality, and have only cashed it in twice. And
I'm not saying that the Tigers are the Dodgers. It's
just to Terry's point, we're graduating, I think as a
(31:28):
team with how good they've been this regular season. Obviously
we're gonna enjoy this and we're gonna love every minute,
but playoffs and playoff success is ultimately going to be
the final gauge. I mean, you're right, they can't go.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
That's where we are in Detroit sports though. That's it now.
The gauge is now for all of our teams playoffs,
even the Red Wings. They don't make the playoffs this year,
there's gonna be a lot of unhappy people. All four
of our teams are now at that precipice. Three of
them have proven to be viable viole to just say,
mister Flannel, with all due respect to Dodgers, that's called choking.
(32:04):
Of course.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Trust me, I am the biggest Clayton Kershaw slappy there is,
and time after time after time he would tear my
heart in two with another playoff flameout. So trust me,
I'm very familiar with the Dodgers and their playoff struggles
because I actually root for them to do well when
they're not playing the Tigers, and hopefully, hopefully I mean
the Tigers. Obviously they could only I think, dream of
(32:31):
the regular season success having that over such a sustained
period that the Dodgers have. But you don't want to
be that organization that gets in and continues to flame
out in the playoffs. Obviously, I don't consider last year
a choke because it was their first time in so
many years. But this season, with the way that their
regular season is trending, they might skip that early round.
(32:52):
They might graduate right ahead to the Alds and be
heavy favorites. Gotta take care of business.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
And you know what ESPN and their ranks, they got
the Detroit Tigers rank number one, and you know what
they did, wou moved them ahead of the Dodgers because
for a long time, even if they had the better record,
they didn't have the Tigers ahead of them. They mentioned
the pitching. That's what they said. It is. They said
that this rotation isn't just Terry Skoogle, and they do
mention Kaider Montero even filling in for an injured rees Alsen,
(33:20):
proving how deep this team is and how regardless of
what's going on with a starter or injuries or slump
or this or that, his team just keeps winning.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
What's the thing Like Kaider Montero, he would be one
of the best pitchers on the Orioles right now, Like
it's a luxury to have somebody like him as your
sixth starter, and Sawyer Gibson long as like your seventh starter.
Because that's the thing about these Tigers. And we'll get
to a Zadarius in just a second. But they haven't
even benefited from injury luck. Maise went on the IL,
(33:55):
job and Olsen are currently on the IL. Matt Vierling
was on it, then off for four games on it
again when sel Perez didn't play the first fifty games,
Parker Meadows didn't play the first sixty games, and they're
still managing to do what they've done. It's incredible, but
it also speaks to the depth of this organization and
the depth, as you said, of the pitching staff. Because
(34:15):
Kayder Montero, he's an MLB starter, just not on this
team when all things are are right, it's bloody luxury man.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
In just a few short years. What about that, dude?
Speaker 6 (34:26):
Justin and I do like hearing the Tigers at number
one in the power rankings. But why I believe that
we have to be so aggressive at the trade deadline
is because you have to remember the Dodgers are at
some point gonna get show a Tani back a.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Well, you're saying you want them aggressive, not just kind
of monitoring. See what you can do.
Speaker 6 (34:45):
They need to be aggressive. Talk to us with the
Dodgers are gonna be aggressive. They're gonna be willing to
sell the farm like they are every year. They're gonna
be and then they have Showa Tany who's gonna come
back from his injury and he's gonna be pitching. And
then you have Glass now who's also gonna come back
off the injury list. Like they are going to have
weapons that they're going to add to this team. And
the Tigers, yeah, we have a few more players on
(35:07):
al that we're gonna add to this roster, but we
still need a premier right handed bat, like this bullpen
can be better like this, like we have the now
the ammunition in our farm system to actually make these
types of moves. And I'm not saying to sell the
farm and to get rid of Max Clark and Rainer
and all these guys who are playing so well in
the minor leagues. But when we're talking about picking up
(35:27):
a guy like Bob Bashett who you're not not even
gonna have to probably give up a high level B
prospect for him because he's on a one year deal,
or talking about Erless Chapman, who's an aging closer, Like
these guys are depreciated assets who aren't gonna cost a
ton of capital. Like that's where we need to jump
in and be like, all right, we can make our
team better for a low risk for low cost, Like
(35:48):
we have to be able to make those moves and
be able to risk the farm system to go and
get this World series. Considering the fact that schoopl is
still not locked up and you have a two year
window that is open right now that you need to capitalize.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
You're right, man, because what's the point of saying, oh,
we got Scoop under control if you're not going to
capitalize during that window, Like if you have the opportunity,
right now you have a squad that's going out there
and realistically putting BTA. They're widening their lead. It didn't
even matter like you lost three out of four games
to the Guardians, and it literally didn't matter your lead
(36:24):
over that same team. Since that series is three games
bigger than it was before the series, that's insane to me.
I don't know, man, It's just a matter of though.
You know that the Dodgers are willing to spend the
money for their aggressiveness, and that's where you're wondering. Are
the Tigers. There is Chris Silige, the one that we
saw willing to open up the pocketbooks for Bregmant, but
(36:46):
he wasn't willing to bend to all of the other
stipulations in the contract. Is that Chris Ilage? Is that
Chris Svilage showing up to the trade deadline when you're
talking about aggressive.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Well, and that's why. And we should be rooting for
the Blue Jays to lose every game from here on
out so that they're out of it by the trade
deadline and they actually want to sell Bobashett because on
this point, just because to be honest, I've had some issues,
especially last year with Bobaschett as a player. However, this season,
after a bit of a slow start with his power,
he has rebounded. He's putting up a nice year and
(37:18):
on this team, the biggest week what I would say,
the biggest weakness on this team has been hitting production
from the shortstop position this year. With all due respect
to Trey Sweeney, he should not be your starting shortstop
even now that their outfielders are getting back like a
Perez and a Meadows and you could slot Hobby in
(37:40):
that shortstop. Even though Hovey was a nice story and
he did get a nice base hit yesterday, RBI single
shout out to him. His numbers have fallen off a cliff.
Bob Baschett on this team, in this lineup would upgrade
the position at least at the plate and even in
the field a bit so much that that could be
a difference. Bobashett would uniquely be just a seismic addition
(38:06):
to this team.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
He was born to play in Kamerica Park. The way
that he hits. He's a gap hitter. He hits to
all parts of the field to be able to take
advantage of the wide alleys that k America Park has
Bobashett would be a perfect add to a team that's
looking for a right handed bat that can shoot the gaps,
and he's got a little.
Speaker 9 (38:22):
Bit of pop in his back.
Speaker 6 (38:23):
He's got a couple of twenty home run seasons, so
he's gonna add a couple of big swings in there
as well. I just think it's such a slam dunk
move move for a position a need that Tigers have,
just especially with the blue Jays falling out. I just
think there's no better player than the Tigers could add.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
But just remember, as I said, the Blue Jays are
not out of it. They need to go on a
bit of a skid. Because if I'm the Blue Jays
and the al is still I think pretty open. Even
though the Tigers and Yankees have separated themselves, they're both
flawed teams. If I'm the blue Jays, if I feel
like there's even a chance that I can get into
(38:59):
the wild card and make a run, I'm probably keeping Bobashet.
I don't know what goes through the mind of their GM.
I don't know if there's a certain haul that the
Tigers could give to make it extra tantalizing, But root
for the blue Jays to lose. Just that's that's my
one assignment for all of you in the chat and
all of you in this room. Besides rooting for the
Tigers to win, keep rooting for the Blue Jays.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
To lose, keep rooting for the Blue Jays to lose,
keep rooting for the sense of to lose, and just
because we don't like them, keep rooting for the Yankees
to lose too. I want to see the Tigers go
out there and capitalize on everything in front of them.
Go out there and not just win the division, go
out there and have the best overall record. AO going
into these playoffs, give yourself that much more confidence because
(39:41):
we see what this team is doing right now. Though
they you know, Harris made some very very good tweaks
to this team during the offseason. We see how much
the internal growth has spurred this from even contributions for
guys that we didn't know. We were hoping that we
would get mild contributions from Torque and Hobby and a
lot of people would have been happy with that. Instead,
we're getting borderline two all star level performance out of
(40:04):
some of these players, and it's just it's awesome thing
to see with the Tigers. I do believe this. You know,
Terry Foster again, you make me feel comfortable here stamping them.
I do believe this Tiger's team is one that has
a lot of expectations ahead of them that they are
going to be able to capitalize on. So I also
want to ease your mind on something else. You ask,
what Chris Illage okay moves for a relief pitcher or
(40:29):
all right with Bregman? He opened up the pocketbooks, he
would know he actually did not. Now everybody is and
a lot of people saying, wow, Chris still just opened
up the pocketbooks. He doesn't care, Yes he does. If
he had signed Alex Bregman, do you know where the
Tigers would have ranked payroll wise? Thirteenth? So he's willing
(40:50):
to be in the middle of the pack. My problem
with him is if your team is in a position
to win a World Series and then at the very
end of the season you say, well you can do this,
but you gotta pay forty or fifty million for somebody.
You have to have your payroll in the top five position.
(41:10):
I don't think he'll do it, But you asked, would
he be okay with adding to the team for a
right handed bat and a relief pitcher. I think he
would because it's not gonna cost him that much. So
I will ease your mind. But hope and pray it
never comes down to, oh boy, we're gonna have to
(41:31):
add fifty million to the payroll if the Tiger's gonna
move forward, that that ain't happening. Bro geez. Now, that's
actually a good point by you, man, that's a really
good point by you. It almost if there's one thing
I'm gonna temper, like if we had to decide, do
you cool on if the Tigers can keep this pace,
or do you cool on if Chris Illige will come
through with the money. I believe that it is very,
(41:52):
very more likely that the Tigers continue to beta to
Russell major League Baseball than it is for Chris Ellie
to say, you know what, let me make a a
season defining move or two. And that means open up
that pocketbook and doing things that we've seen some of
these other teams do that have won the World Series
in recent years. So if the Tigers keep doing what
they're doing, it's not gonna come down to that he
(42:16):
is getting He's getting away with a right now, they're
eighteenth in payroll. He's getting away with something that we
didn't think he could do. We thought you had to
have a top five payroll to compete for a World Series.
And when you look at Major League Baseball, for the
most part, the teams with the top eight payrolls are
(42:38):
right there. And there's this little tiny outlyer liar it's
called the Detroit Tigers. They're doing it in a different way.
They're just getting good players and they're doing things like
last night they score five runs, but most of it
came with two outs. That doesn't happen all the time.
So the Tigers, I would say, being special this year.
(43:01):
And the one word I keep using, they're not superstars.
They're consistent and that's why we question whether they can
do something. Because Aaron Judge is not on the roster.
O Tani's not on the roster. There's a bunch of
guys that just work horses, that work hard. They get
(43:23):
hits at the right moment the right time. They're they're
not splashy, they're not killing people. They're doing what they
have to do to win.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Hey, but you know who is on the roster, mister
Riley Alan Green, and I think.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
You feel about Ry just brief. I gotta do this.
I like Riley Green. The only thing I questioned about
him I questioned if he was an All Star last year.
Other than that, the dude, the dude is good. He's
getting timely hits. He's He's just spark for this team.
(44:02):
So yeah, I'm not gonna fight Sam about Riley Green. Now,
I have no ammo. I tried. I tried to throw
a little bit of bait into the water man South
to these over here, man, But you're right. Let's get
into it, Zadarius Smith. That was really the news, the

was like bro like Ryan emoji, we got a victory
lot this. This is something we've been trying to wild
and will and we've continued to conjecture maybe this is
just old man stuff, oh G stuff. Maybe this is
just what the Lions are doing because he's an older player.
Brad Holmes said, Hey, I put the fielders out there already.
(50:07):
We had already heard from Braden's relates to that Ben

we just see him what decked out in the Detroit gear.
But should we show the people, uh what video kind
(50:29):
of took over social media?
Speaker 3 (50:30):
Yes, sir, got that one.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
JB he's saying in that con track with the Lions soon. Okay,
I need to hear he's saying in that con track
with the Lions soon. Okay, I need to hear. I'm
fired up anyway from you man with the buffs on.
And you know what, I like the way my man
started to smile as soon as he heard lions. He
(50:52):
looks ecstatic. And I'm hoping that this is a whole
lot more like a whole lot more sizzled to the stake.
That's what I'm really hoping is more stake than sissle
with Zadarius Smith, not just conjecture, not just put on
the spot. But this is a situation where we're going
to see Zadarius Smith as that bookend for Aida Hudson.
We were just talking about this just yesterday, just talking
(51:13):
about it.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
Yeah, and all right, just to clarify one thing before
we get going, I did say that yesterday, if it
came down to JayR Alexander or Zadarius Smith, I would
prefer the Lions to sign JayR Alexander. However, however, that
is far less likely, and that does not mean that
I don't want Zadarias Smith. In fact, bring them both
(51:35):
in you can afford it. But that's another story for
another day. Of course, I want Zadarias Smith on this team,
and it's encouraging for to see him, you know, just say,
just answer the question in the way that he answered.
I don't know what it means. Hopefully it means something.
But one thing though, that continues to give me a
little bit of cause for pause. I want to come in,
(51:55):
I want a victory lap, I want to get excited,
but he's still not here. This is just a gut
feeling and it goes off of what I've heard.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
From that talked about.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
But but like I think there's merit to it. I
don't think Brad Holmes views Zadarius Smith like we do.
I think we view Zadarias Smith as essential. I think
Brad Holmes views Zadarias Smith as luxury. I think that
Brad Holmes feels perfectly comfortable with Marcus Davenport as Edge
(52:27):
two and in conjunction with AQM and Josh Pascal, I
think that it's with Zadarius Smith, it's only for the
right price. And let's just be honest. The way that
Big Z has played, not just this year, but in
the previous couple of seasons. I don't think he necessarily
has to take a discount if he doesn't want to.
(52:47):
And don't get me wrong, he hasn't signed with anybody
else yet, so maybe the interest is low. But at
the end of the day, I think if Brad Holmes
actually viewed Zadarias Smith as essential, he would have never
released him in the first place, even with the money,
even with the dead cap next year. But to me,
(53:08):
bring big Z home, I think I think this would
ease a lot of my trepidations about even the first
seven games or so, or even the whole season. I
think z would do excellently as the book end to
Aiden Hutchinson.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
I'll be at the chat here three and three. Welcome
to the chat, brother, our resident Zadarius Heyta. He says
that Nah I would take Zayre over Zadarius too. I'm
not mad at that, mad that he missed that, but
at O'Neill, I see you says if we signed Smith,
I'd feel more comfortable having Davenport. Azrael taps me too.
(53:43):
When you talk about believing in Marcus Davenport, you would
think that it would be nice to have some more
depth there, so you're not relying so much on players
who in the past availability has been a question mark.
I don't want to have to have those types of
questions if we can find some way to mitigate and
that with players that you believe in their talent. Nobody
says that if Davenport's healthy. Everyone believes if Davenport is healthy,
(54:06):
he's going to perform, He's going to contribute for your team.
But I do believe more so even than keeping him
healthy during the season, keeping them healthy and having just
that much more stamina like we saw with the Eagles
through the playoffs, like we saw the Eagles in the championship,
in the Super Bowl, I do believe that that type
of stuff matters. It helps. We talk about what bringing
in these young players does for their tandems and their rotation.
(54:29):
We talk about what having the depth that linebacker last
year did for this team, where they literally were like, hey,
you know, death to all the linebackers and Jack Campbell
was just sitting there looking around like Will Smith at
the end of Fresh Prince of bel Air. It was
absolutely crazy. So for me, you already know Zadaria Smith
has been a constant reframe draft season before draft season,
after draft season, OTAs, It's been a constant reframe. Not
(54:52):
that I believe that he's some world beater, but we
don't know who Zadarias Smith could be a gift on
the opposite end of the world beater in Aiden Hutchinson
on this revamp defensive line with who Brad Holmes is
saying as a hungry Tyler Williams, I do believe that
this team is gonna be in a better position to
support zadari Smith when last year was a Darius Smith
(55:13):
who had to do a little bit more pulling than
the team could push. I do want to see Zadaria
Smith here with the Lions, and that's where you know. No,
I'm not drinking the kool aid saying that he's gonna
be this all pro defensive end, but I do believe
he's gonna have an impactful season, even better than we
saw last year if he's playing opposite of Aighten Hunches,
(55:33):
a pro defensive end. You know, and I think Flannel
is correct. I mean, Brad Holmes would like him on
the team, but not really. He's really not gonna go
out now. I think he's trying to gnaw him down
to a certain cap figure. If if Zadarius Smith is
(55:55):
not on this team, it's gonna be because of Brad.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
Holmes one hundred thousand percent. And I'm not saying that
it's just this necessarily going to be a catastrophic mistake
or anything like that. Only time will tell. I don't
want to put stuff like that out there until we
see the season. But yeah, one hundred percent, Terry's correct.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
Do you three brought it and't know who AQ was?
Aq is just as good as Z at this time.
Speaker 3 (56:19):
I'm glad you mentioned that because JB Smooth. It's funny
you think I just come in here all blind and
just say stuff just to say it. I have a
couple of graphics on Zadarias Smith. You put up the
shorter one. The shorter one really quick pressure rates last
three seasons Zadarius Smith. And this is over the last
(56:40):
three seasons because twenty twenty one Z was out for
most of the year and Josh Pascal's career has been
three years. I thought that was a pretty good gauge.
Pressure rates the last three seasons. Zadarius Smith fifteen point
one percent, Marcus Davenport eleven point four percent, which is
actually fine, It's it's good. But on a very very
small sample site side Alcott and Mohammad nine point three
(57:02):
percent and Josh Pascal seven point five percent. So yes,
Big Z over the last three years has greatly outperformed.
We all know he outperformed all of these guys when
it came to availability counting stats like sacks and hits
and tackles for losses. But even the pressures, Zadarias Smith
blows them out of the water. But I have an
(57:23):
even longer one when it compares Zadarias Smith to elite
edges in the league. If you would put that one
up JB. Smooth, which shows maybe he actually has been
a world beater. Pressure rates the last three seasons Micah
Parsons eighteen point three percent. But I keep here and
he's overrated. That's a me thing.
Speaker 2 (57:40):
I'll move on.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
Nick Bosa sixteen point nine percent, Miles Garrett sixteen point
five percent, Trey Hendrickson sixteen point four percent, Zadarius Smith
fifteen point one percent, ahead of Aiden Hutchinson at fourteen
point eight, Max Crosby at twelve point nine and TJ.
Watt at twelve percent. Over the past three seasons. Even
(58:02):
though he maybe isn't putting up the all pros and
the sack numbers that all of these guys are, he's
still been very very good and very very impactful. And
imagine what he could be opposite Aiden Hutchinson. I am
more bullish about Zadarias Smith than ever right now, even
though I'd still rather have Jayra. But the gap is closing.
(58:24):
The gap is closing, and he certainly, certainly, certainly certainly
would be the second best pass rusher on the team,
no question about it.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
Hey, you know you don't want Zayre over Zadarias Smith.
Give give me pressure anytime. Because the league rules don't
favor cornerbacks. They don't allow cornerbacks to be shut down corners.
So but if you put the heat on somebody, then
you make cornerbacks better. You know. I agree with that too,
(58:53):
And that's why I see lunchbox here, he says, So
now we're worrying about pressure rights. Lunchbox Absolutely wrong show.
Speaker 3 (59:00):
Absolutely wrong show. I thought I literally almost had like
a heart attack at thirty one fighting Neil rule about
Hutches pressure.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
That's what I'm saying, Like this is exactly like, especially
right after what Terry says like, this is not the
this is not We were the ones that talked about
how good it was, and we talked about how the
Detroit Lions were still able to manufacture pressure last year
despite not getting the sack totals that you want to see,
especially after they got devastated. We continued to talk about
on woo about the pressure that they were manufacturing. I
(59:33):
sat in that sound boo for Cavasi is listening to
this man to my right defend aid Un on the
premise of the pressures do matter, despite the fact that
he still wanted to see him get those sack totals.
Speaker 3 (59:45):
Well, and I know some people are mentioning his pressure
rate ZSE over the past three years is higher than Hutches.
If I want to give one bit of context to that,
that does include Aiden Hutchinson's rookie year when we all
know he wasn't what he was he took a big
sophomore jump, and obviously we know what he did last year.
So Hutch's pressure rate over the past two seasons, I
(01:00:08):
don't have that number right in front of me, is
probably close to what guys like Parsons and Bosas are,
So hutch is still is definitely the better end and
better at getting pressures. It's but still I'm not even
seeing saying Z's as good as those guys, But the
fact that he's getting pressure at a rate close to
guys like Bosa and Parsons and ahead of guys like
(01:00:31):
TJ MF and Watt is insane.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Insane. Pressure rate is very important. Back in the day
when I was doing stories on why do the lines suck?
And I would call people around the NFL and basically
asking that, and they said. The one thing they said
is the Lions don't put heat on the posing quarterbacks.
People opposing quarterbacks back in the pocket, patting the ball,
(01:00:58):
looking around, decide my fifth, sixth option. And it's still not.
They still don't have that heat, they said. Basically, the
Lions were in that heat because a they don't put
heat on the other quarterbacks and b they don't protect
their own quarterback. So somebody's making fun of pressure rates,
Shame on you, because I've been hearing for years that's
(01:01:19):
the thing. The Lions need it and maybe they would
have been better, uh sooner if they did this, but
they didn't think that way. Absolutely, I see Hoof in
the chart hoof hearted. He says, people want Z because
the Lions D line is the lead at the run,
but under average on sacking the quarterback, and Z get
is exactly what the Lions are lacking on the line.
(01:01:41):
I exactly that you see what they're doing even to
try and beef up and to give more depth to
that interior. It only makes sense to me, especially if
you're talking about supporting your diveingport Sani, that you do
bring back a big Z. And you know you said
something very very important to me. T Fosse earlier will
talk about the Mary Smith and that was that Brad Holmes.
(01:02:01):
I think that this is him saying, you know what,
I still run this. We're gonna have our standards. We're
gonna have our people that we like, but we're not
going to break one of the standards that will help
us win now and long term. And that is also
how they manage the cap no matter how much people
can say, you know, because I keep going back and
forth over this as they're starting to spend more and
(01:02:22):
more money, is where my mind continues to go more
on the lines of maybe he did need to pinch
just a little bit more from Big Z. And I
know there's some others because I was on this other
side before. It's like, nah, but it is big c
you got Hi underneath controllability. It's not that much money.
But now that I'm looking at it, Brad Holmes and
the job he's gonna have to do when you're just
shell them out big contract after big contract and historical
(01:02:44):
contracts and set in the market now is why I
do believe maybe he is not just for the big
contracts to come, but for the flexibility of this team
even to make smaller moves and smaller signings. Think about
some of the deals they made to bring back guys
in what was about six million or so. I think
that they saved with big Z with how they cud them.
(01:03:08):
You look at some of those smaller signings that they
did and you can see exactly what the Lions are
trying to do. Right, So, you know what happens a
lot of times, and I think this has happened in
this case. Brad Holmes is saying, Hey, dumb ass media,
don't tell me what to do, dumb ass fans, don't
tell me what to do. I know better, and what's
gonna happen. He's gonna go through all this ring around
(01:03:29):
the rosy stuff and say how unimportant an edge rusher is.
He's gonna say over and over and over again. Then
at the very end, guess what he's gonna get and
edge rusher, it'll come up with some kakamani excuse. Well,
you know it gets. It just fell on our lap.
And we like good ball players, and so I brought
(01:03:51):
them in.
Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
Yeah, and I just want to respond to Weezy really quick,
and then Terry, and then I'll throw it over to Justin.
Weezy basically said, let's be damned. Z can't touch Hutch.
Z can't touch Hutch, he can't touch what hand, he
can't touch Crosby. It's just an amazing stat that he
gets pressure at a rate higher than all of them.
(01:04:12):
I'm not saying he's as good, but that's the point
about getting Azudarius Smith in. And that's also the reason
why if if I'm big Z and Brad Holmes wants
to really lowball me, he absolutely has the right. If
Brad Holmes is like, here, here's seven million dollars to
basically say here's that seven million dollars, I'm worth more,
(01:04:34):
and maybe that's what's happening right now? And uh, and Terry,
I wanted to respond to what you said about Brad Holmes,
and this is where I'm gonna have the whole chat
in probably the whole room against me. And because I
think you might actually understand my point. That's one of
the reasons why I don't really like Brad Holmes the guy.
I think he's kind of a douche. Am I wrong.
(01:04:56):
I think he's kind of if you don't like, you
don't like the way. I don't like him.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
I like them of Aura.
Speaker 3 (01:05:03):
No, but he's he's he's he's the embodiment of condescension.
He thinks I have an IQ of five. And I understand,
and I'm not trying to be sensitive because he hasn't
said anything directly to me. But I just don't like him.
Reason I think that interview he did on the Flagship
where he was talking about, oh, you guys just want
to Aiden's that was the most straw man bs thing
(01:05:26):
I've ever heard in my life. Good job is a
GM though. I just don't like him.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
But the people do the people want to you look
at No, they don't, They literally don't. How many people
are crying for Max Crosby.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
Okay, fine, and that's all you have to do to
get that whitewashed from history.
Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
How many are still saying, did he still got a
chance to try?
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
We we're talking about Zadarius Smith. We're talking about Clowney too.
Like people aren't like, we gotta sign Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
Not the most vocal though, even though we're sitting here
and we go through the full gamut. Most of the
people out there justin can tell you too. Man. When
you look at the socials, most people out there are
are are screaming for the two Aida Hudginson's yeah, and stop, folks.
What before the draft? What did every my draft say?
(01:06:14):
What did every fan say, Oh, they're gonna draft a
edge rusher in the first round. Oh didn't do that. Okay,
they're gonna draft an edge rusher in the second round.
He waited till the sixth round and drafted some dude
from Egypt. He's telling you it's not important. I even
thought at the pody of uh doing the press confidence,
(01:06:37):
but I was saying, yeah, I did that just to
spight Flannel.
Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
Okay, obviously I don't think that, but I think Weezy
put it perfectly. He's petty. You should call him Tom
or Richard, that's his actual first name.
Speaker 5 (01:06:49):
I feel like when you've earned that petty, I feel
like I feel like you Brad Holmes has a right
to be able to call that swagger or like when
we see other people do these types of things, we're just, oh,
my gosh, we put him up on.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
A mantle, Bill Belichick, how many people put him up
on the mantle when he's done? And I know you don't.
I know you don't. He's got six super Bowl Dude,
Now you are in sports. You earn the right to
be a dick. You do, that's it. But people were
already doing this even before the Super Bowls. We understand
people doing sports. You put on any aspect of an
(01:07:23):
image that resonates and people's start to latch. And what
they're doing Brad Holmes right now is the fact that
the Lions, he's changed the course of their franchise, something
that people thought was impossible. So I do understand with
this guy who's come from an organization too, who he
did help set up to win a Super Bowl. Nobody
can say that that he didn't. Brad Holmes was a
(01:07:44):
part of that culture. He was out there with the Rams,
came here and what has he done. He's instantly transformed
this culture. So I'm not trying to compare him in
Bellichick as it relates to the rings. I'm talking about
even players who don't have rings in the NFL who
will put on a certain a certain or if they
just get in the stats and people latch onto that
type of stuff and they support that type of stuff.
(01:08:04):
And you know a lot of people do they brand
off of this stuff. They buy their jerseys and they
shoes off this stuff. They want to play them in
the video games off this Why can't Brad Holmes be that?
Because I do believe just short of a Super Bowl,
this man has been working miracles. Nobody thought that this
type of stuff was possible. I'm talking about this fast
as well. That's what blew my mind when you were
talking about the Lions in what this organization has been.
(01:08:28):
And that's why I do believe Brad Holmes he deserves
for people to be able to partil a little bit better.
In my opinion, people are saying he's so I am
so reluctant to criticize him because I know you guys
don't want to hear this. This was the most pathetic
organization in all of pro sports. Literally, it was awful,
and the way they ran things was atrocious, the way
(01:08:50):
they ran off players. Now look at this. Here's something
that never happened the last sixty years of Lions football.
And I dare even Sam mister research to find this.
You never ever had a player saying I want to
be a Detroit Lion. Please make me a Detroit Lion.
(01:09:12):
It used to be get me as far away from
this pathetic organization as possible. Now you gotta do, like, hey,
I'll do anything to be here. Zadara Smith is. He
knows there's a path to the super Bowl here, he
likes the climate, his woman is here, he's hanging out
in the hood. He's doing everything he can to show you.
(01:09:32):
I want to be here, I demand to be here,
and he's gonna take a pay cut to do that.
Speaker 6 (01:09:40):
And I think that it's just really funny that you
say that, like Brad Holmes is a sort of dick
or petty, whatever word you want to use. How about
dick is, Yeah, sure, but he's never as big of
a dick as Patricia was. Patricia was such a dick
for no reason, and he never showed anything at least
(01:10:01):
when you look at Brad Holmes, You're like, all right,
I mean, man's got a track record, he knows what
he's doing. He's built this team, like you said, from
the most pathetic team in football to one of the
monolists of the.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Entire NFL bro the most pathetic in sports.
Speaker 6 (01:10:15):
And so you're like, you're, you're, he's at a point
where like he deserves to be, Like he literally deserves
to be. We should be kissing the ground that he
walks on for the memories that he has made us
over the past three years, straight up.
Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
And that's where I get off the highway with you
at the end, because obviously Matt Patricia was awful. He
was a dick. He deserves to go to uh sports
hell when he dies, not actual hell, but sports Hell
or Detroit Detroit Hell because he actually did some nice
things with.
Speaker 6 (01:10:39):
Uh how about the fame, Well, he just I mean, yeah,
he just kind of hold held the rails for Bill Belichick.
Speaker 9 (01:10:48):
I mean that was his defense for me.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
If he just stepped up the unprovoked no articles, no
noise on social media, was just like, ah, I'll do
everything right. Not that is, but he's not when he
stepped into the podium. Sometimes I think what rubs people
the wrong way is the fact that he's responding directly
to the criticisms we levied against him that we made loud.
You know, And I'm saying we collectively, you know, because
(01:11:12):
he's hearing this stuff. We know that they're top ten dog.
They saw freaking Booner drinking a freaking a kool Aid
bath and smashing smashing the bears over himself and talked
about this. Yeah, I wouldn't showld bright. We know that
they hear all this stuff. And I think, more than anything,
I believe he's telling people, Hey, we finally have the
team in the organization where we can all be smug,
(01:11:34):
where we can all be whatever the characteristic that you're
levying against him, I think he's telling people hate, chill out,
trust me. But you know what, more, maybe maybe he's
not a dick, but maybe he is a student of
this new era that we have called social media called
fans can uh express themselves whenever they want, where you
(01:11:58):
hear the noise out in the communit unity more than
you did before. And maybe he's just a guy instead
of saying I'm gonna shut up and let my actions
show I'm gonna respond to stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:12:10):
Go ahead, mister j Yeah, I mean I just wanted
to add you guys talking about Petty just reminds me
of Chappelle show. Yeah, I'll grind my feet in this
couchure richmontherfuck. But I mean, I think you guys are
all right. But I think Terry is mostly right with
the fact that being in the NFL, you got to
have a little bit of an ego and you have
(01:12:31):
the right to be a dick. So hey, Brad, just
continue to do what you've been doing. You've got the
right to do it. I mean, you have a track
record as a GM that's proven otherwise, so now, hey,
just continue on that path. But he could care less
what we want. He's going to sit here and get
everything that he knows the team needs. He could care
(01:12:51):
less about going out there and grabbing another edge rushing
because you know what, we probably got something better at home,
or he has something else in mind.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
So just continue on doing what you're doing. Y, Yes,
he does, or sell Chase his uncle. Terry isn't wrong. Hell,
even when I'm ros Saint Brown got dropped about the lines.
Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
He said, f yeah, but and here's here's where before
I throw it over to Chase and get like his
thoughts on everything, because we've been through it, We've we've
been through a lot in this segment. I am not
going to blindly kiss a GM's ass until there's a
Super Bowl. I think that I can. For I can
(01:13:26):
say that Brad Holmes has done an amazing job. I
can say that he's been probably the biggest reason why
the Lions have turned it around. However, it does not
mean that I'm not going to criticize if I think
he f's up and in this particular case, in my
particular opinion, Zadarius Smith should be on this team right now.
(01:13:46):
He's not. If he's not, it might not be catastrophic.
I'm willing to see how it plays out, but that
would be something in which I if I am giving
my opinion about Brad Holmes, I'm gonna be like, all right,
we'll see what you're doing. But I don't love that
if he's just start Marlin. No, it doesn't, of course
it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
But if it plays out his way, does he have
the right to clap back at all? If it works though,
but the only things he said on these podiums are clapbacks.
Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
I understand, but like there's there's still no trophies, no
Super Bowl trophies in Alan Park. You're not beyond reproach.
Speaker 9 (01:14:19):
You're not are your best yours is a Lions fan though,
absolutely they are.
Speaker 6 (01:14:24):
But you, but you do something that no other GM
and coach have been able to do in the entire
history of our franchise.
Speaker 9 (01:14:29):
I came an NFL franchise.
Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
I understand that, which is why I am ninety five
percent of the time very very complimentary of Brad Holmes.
I just don't like there are literal people probably in
this room, probably probably in this chat that if the
Lions were to sign me Flannel Sam as a backup corner,
as a thirty three year old slow guy, they'd be like, Oh,
(01:14:52):
that's an underrated good signing. That's the type of stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
It's not beyond he is. He is the car.
Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
I'm a rick guy for sure. Like Brad Holmes is
the greatest GM in Lions history. He's a top five
GM in the NFL right now. He's done a fantastic job.
He is just not above reproach. Everything you're saying Justin
is true.
Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
But I have a question for Justin who's clapping back
and being all saucy over here. What what if this
whole thing where Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell does not
result in a Super Bowl appearance? Would you be okay
with that?
Speaker 9 (01:15:27):
I watched the window.
Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
Oh I saw a little quivering his little no no.
Speaker 9 (01:15:34):
But yeah, it would be a disappointment if they.
Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
Got Honey Bun, listen to me. I'm gonna say this.
Slow the whole Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell era ends
with no super Bowl. It's a failure, okay, And would
you be completely happy?
Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
So, in other words, a man like Flannels Sam could
still have some wiggle room, Like I understand he's taking
this organization here, but I still have questions because the
journey is not complete.
Speaker 6 (01:16:03):
And I agree with you, But the issue I have
with Flannel is Flannel is jumping to conclusions about Zadarias
Smith and the fact that he's not on this roster
yet when outside of Zadarius Smith, there's four other viable
edge rushers that are in free agency right now that
haven't signed. So if you don't get Sadarius Smith and
you do, and he doesn't need an edge, he can
still sign one.
Speaker 9 (01:16:22):
The season doesn't start tomorrow. Training camp doesn't even start tomorrow.
Training camp doesn't even start for another month.
Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
Okay, Like, listen to what Brad Holmes is saying. He's
basically saying, fuck y'all, we don't need another edge rusher,
so shut up. That's what he's saying without saying it.
Speaker 6 (01:16:41):
I'll believe it when week one comes around and there's
not a different edge rusher other than Marcus dabn Poor
on the other side from Mayon Hudson. That's when I'll
believe it. And that's when I'll get mad about the
edge situation. But after you go through the preseason training
camp cuts and if there's still not another edge in
the room, that's when I'll start to be like, I
will criticize Brad Holmes for not bringing an edge, but
when until the first snap of the season starts in
(01:17:02):
week one, I'm not gonna question him because he has
all the time in the world to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
But just remember, justin before I throw it over to Chase,
because I promised him five minutes ago and that it
got a little sidetrack, which I love by the way,
I will always go back to and this was my
take from day one and it still is my take.
He should still be on this team. He should have
never been released. I don't care about the money. I
don't care about the signing bonus. I don't care about
the dead cap.
Speaker 6 (01:17:24):
You would care about the money when the cap rolls
over to next year when we're fourteen million over the
cap and we only have twenty two million this year.
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
I think Zadarius Smith, I think Zadarius Smith makes you
more of a Super Bowl contender with him than without him.
Speaker 6 (01:17:40):
And that's a very agreeable statement. But like the fact is,
you had to cut him because he was overpaid because
you're trying to fix your cap situation for next year.
Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
I don't think he was overpaid. I think the numbers
that I gave you earlier suggest that he was actually
either rightfully paid.
Speaker 9 (01:17:54):
Terry said he's going to take a hometown discount and.
Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
We'll see, but he doesn't have to accept one because
he's been damn good. If Brad Holmes is trying to
low ball them, which I'm sure he is, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:18:05):
If it's lower than his contract was last year, then
it's a good deal.
Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
The other edge rushers you talked about, Brad Holmes is
not going to sign them. Here's how I know. Zadarius
Smith's capit was eleven million dollars. You're talking about dudes
who are gonna cost twenty seven million, thirty million. And
Brad Holmes has come out and said we don't need them.
Read my lips, y'all say you need them. I'm saying
(01:18:33):
we don't need them. You know what he said that
at the first trade deadline that they made the postseason,
he said the same exact thing. He said, y'all keep
saying I gotta go out there and get an edge
rusher or else we're not gonna win a playoff game,
or we're gonna have a short run. No, we have enough.
We have enough. And what they do they did something
that even some of the most art and lines fans
didn't think they could. They won a couple games, you know,
(01:18:55):
and that to me, and you have to think about
it from that trade deadline press conference, what they do.
They won you your first NFC North title, They won
you your first home playoff game, and they were twenty minutes
away from a Super Bowl appearance. And it wasn't because
of a lack of what he did or didn't do
with the trade deadline to put an edge rusher over there.
(01:19:15):
An edge rusher wasn't gonna be the difference. And if
they made it on that's the whole point. So it's
like he was already there. This story should be one
that's over, not that you can't in a vacuum say, oh,
you know what, It would have been nice to be
able to see this or see that. But there are
people out there and some of the noise gets to
a point to where I can understand why he would
feel the need to sometimes be like, hey, I'm gonna
(01:19:37):
clip back a little back, clip back a little bit,
bron Holmes every now and then. Believe you only need
one quality edge rusher. He only got Zadaris Smith when
Aiden Hutchinson was out the whole season. If Aiden Hutchinson
doesn't get two, huh and they went fifteen to two
in a year, right, But he is saying you only
(01:19:57):
need one. What I'm saying now you no, No, you
need too. So we'll see who's gonna be right.
Speaker 6 (01:20:04):
And just to respond to what Terry said a couple
of minutes ago, I am not advocating to go get
t J Watt or Jay Anderson one of those guys
who is paid a bunch of money around the same
figure as Zadarius Smith. Would be guys like Judon and
Clowney who also would be viable options and would be
around the same price as Zadarius Smith.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
If you've checked, if you've checked uh spow track lately,
which is in the gospel or anything, Matthew Judin's estimated
market value is actually a minuscule.
Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
Just Nick Henigen right, for I thought over the chase.
Uh he says we shouldn't have drafted Jamo. It was
a reach. We shouldn't have traded up for Gibbs. It
was a reach. Who's that that? I'm a raw guy.
We have gotten wrong every time, and Brad has gotten.
Speaker 9 (01:20:46):
It right right, good thing he's being.
Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
Yeah, he's been pretty well. I was like, what nickas usual,
pretty pretty measured. I see what you did there with
a doka vasia. You've been You've been hearing everything, brother,
and that's chase GPT. I know you already have your
own thoughts on it, but you've been hearing everything in processing.
What up though?
Speaker 1 (01:21:04):
Uh?
Speaker 10 (01:21:05):
Yeah, I mean I think when you have a big
pressure and presence in the interior of the line, it's
gonna make it a lot easier for the edge, regardless
if it was out there. And I do think when
you have two big difference makers who account for a
lot of space in the middle, you can get away
(01:21:25):
with having one great edge rusher and one moderate to
good edge rusher in the way that I would say
we have currently with Aiden Hutchinson and what could be
a healthy Marcus Davenport, I'm gonna feel much more comfortable
with Zadarius Smith on this team. Yeah, However, this is
real life and this is not a game of Madden.
(01:21:46):
We have to let the calendar slowly trickle by. You
can't get simm the off season and start preseason and
jump into week one right away and just see what
the roster's gonna look like and have all this fun
and make all of these moves. You just gotta let
time go by. It's gonna be twenty four hours and
every day until the calendar starts like week one of
the preseason or what.
Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
And that's it. As much as I want you, guys
have heard me bang the drum for bring Big Z
back to the Lions, and I do believe that that's
gonna be what ultimately happens for the Lions. But when
I'm looking at, you know, ultimately, what Brad Holmes has done.
He set himself up to have flexibility, and I want
him to be able to keep that as much as
he can because we don't know where the needs are
(01:22:28):
gonna come from. We saw what he was doing in
the draft. We didn't quite know. And you know what,
we brought up that quote that he said, look we
got Jamo. How many of y'all thought he was in
need when we first got him. Now we're looking at
this scene when we realize who thought Frank Ragnow was
going to retire? Now we're all sitting.
Speaker 15 (01:22:42):
There like, I mean, oh sweet hey, we've been seeing
We've been seeing it, not just with Brad, but with
Scott Harris, with Steve Eiserman and with Trajan Langdon, like
with all of our gms, Like our teams in Detroit
are putting themselves in positions to have the flexibility and
freedom to make the moves they want.
Speaker 10 (01:22:59):
And I think the fans are getting a little riled
up in antsy and they're trying to be the ones
to force them into making it, like try and telling
them you need to make this movie to make that
when they're just sitting back and they have all the
pieces on the chessboard at their disposal right where they
want to be. I mean, all of our teams have
been trending in the right direction over the last few years,
and I think we should just kind of take a
step back and realize that, you know, we've got the
grand master on the board and we should just let
(01:23:20):
them work.
Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
Okay, room, listen up to me, hands show of hands.
Who trusts Marcus Davenport? Put your hands up. I don't.
I don't. I don't see anything happening here.
Speaker 6 (01:23:37):
I mean, trust him to play eight games? Yeah, trust
him play eight games or five? Trust him to play
seventeen for the whole season, six and a half games.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
When I asked that question, dudes were putting their hands
under the booties. There's no trust there.
Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
And there's nothing wrong with that. By the way, I mean,
Marcus Davenport has played out of the last possible thirty
four games. It just is who he is at this point.
I'm not saying that he can't rebound, but even in
another and this is just I'm glad you mentioned Marcus Davenport.
That's one of the reasons why I think I've gotten
to the point where I can absolutely accept him being
(01:24:18):
on this team. But if you had Marcus Davenport as
maybe your third edge rusher instead of your second, that's
where he's better placed. Because even during his healthier seasons,
he's never been what you would call a high snap
count guy. He's been more rotational than a starter, and
he's had some success at stops during his career, particularly
(01:24:39):
twenty twenty one, but you don't want him to have
a huge workload. You want him to be to pace
himself a bit and play twenty to twenty five snaps
and not get hurt and hopefully be ready for the playoffs.
He's just he's not like a bell cow bookend. I
don't I know that that's a running back term, but
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
Yeah, did you just describe with the rotational guy?
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
That's what he is. And he's been a high level
rotational guy at points during his career, but lately he's
been on the bench more often than anything. Not his fault.
Things happen. It's the NFL. It's a violent sport. But
there's a reason why his contract is peanuts. With incentives,
it could work out great, but there's a reason why
he got that contract.
Speaker 7 (01:25:23):
I just want to I want to put this out
there to justin. Shout out to Ed O'Neil for throwing
this in the chat. He asks justin that, Hey, you
know what, why don't you put your hair on the
line if Marcus plays more than eight games?
Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
Hell?
Speaker 6 (01:25:35):
No, no, eights, absolutely not, absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
Eight games is too little. I could see him playing
more than eight games. I mean, I really hope.
Speaker 6 (01:25:44):
So I put my hair on the line for something
I actually believed in, but not that eight games.
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
You guys really think he can play over eight games? See,
I was going to put the over under on eight
quarters eight.
Speaker 6 (01:26:00):
So I'm not risking my hair like for baldness. I'll
risk to cut it short, but I'm not risking baldness.
Shout out Nick, that's insane.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
And trust me, you don't want that.
Speaker 9 (01:26:09):
Thank you, Terry, appreciate it me, Terry, you pulled off well.
Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
I feel you, brother, I feel you. Man. Hey, shout
out to Brad Holmes. Though we got some we got
some pretty uh successful ball men out there, just like
yourself the legend ty false. But you know the Big Z.
He's been doing everything till he's looked apart act a
part be here in the city. He just pops up
at some of the different events and you see him
supporting cast all. It feels like it's a matchmate and
(01:26:34):
having for them. And I do believe that this season
if you do bring them home, because I think that's
the one Kumbaya. I think the other aspect of component
of it was like the brat Holmes angle. But with Zadarius,
that's the one person that I haven't seen too many
people outside of LEEZD three one three, Uh, everybody wants me.
Speaker 3 (01:26:53):
And based off of his performance last year with the Lions,
based off his performance as primarily a bookend the last
couple of years with the Browns opposite Garrett and the
Vikings opposite to Neil Hunter, that just tells me that
unless he falls off a cliff, unless his age what
thirty three season hits a lot harder than his age
thirty two season, that he would be very, very valuable.
Speaker 2 (01:27:14):
To this team. Hey, that's why Jebbie smooth. That's up.
You gotta say to some friends, an't we so we
double up up.
Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
Yeah, we can triple up.
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:27:23):
And before we do that, Just to give some numbers
to what I said earlier, Marcus Devenport has only ever
played over five hundred snaps in a season once. That's
not a lot of stats.
Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
You think he'll get this shit. I'm thinking he'll put
a judge you.
Speaker 3 (01:27:35):
Bet on it from Marcus Davenport three seventy seven, three
seventy seven. That's kind of random, but that's about his
average for his career is three fifty one. But that
also includes like the catastrophic seasons like the.
Speaker 2 (01:27:48):
Last two cast. You guys have put on your thinking
cap for a minute. Yeah, yeah, close your eyes, put
on your thinking cap. You got a guy like Zadarius
Smith who's begging, He's begging to come here. Oh yeah,
why do you think it's not happening too soon? Brad
Holmes just doesn't really really want him. Zadarius is trying
(01:28:09):
to squeeze a little bit more money. What's going on here?
Speaker 3 (01:28:12):
It's because Brad Holmes doesn't view Zadarius like we do.
He views him as a luxury. That That's what it
comes down.
Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
To to me. I believe it's a gentleman's agreement. I
don't believe that he would be as public and as
kind of teasing throughout the off season as he's been
if it wasn't that. And then this video that we
saw today that Jabe as we go out, you know,
maybe we played the video when we come back. Who knows,
but you know, just remind the people that video, to
(01:28:39):
me is what helps me a little bit more to
believe that maybe those are Gentleman's agreement. Brad Holmes said
to Dead Talk, he knew what the number was, and
I think he just enjoyed his off season as a OG. Yeah,
he looked like he was going out on stage as
a member of Earth Wind and Five with I was
gonna say, man, man, he looks like he's happy to
be represent Detroit. Man. So shout out hey, you said,

there with your which you believe free agency should look like.
And there is one person that I want to be
able to focus on that we kind of popped up
(01:35:28):
in some of these comments. Uh, and that's mister Odama
from the Memphis Rizzlies. I think I'm becoming a stand
I really do. I'm starting to get to the point
where I'm like, you know what, at all false? And
I know that you guys have probably talked about stars
and all this. I believe that when I say all costs,
he's gonna be somebody that is not gonna cost a lot.
But Santae Odama. I really like what I see and
(01:35:50):
I believe that he and Kay Cunningham could form a
very potent, very potent pick and roll and pick and
pop duo. This guy can't square all three levels of
the floor, man, all three levels got touched. I'm I

(01:36:52):
It was absolutely electric, man, the environment. And then you

Big Three basketball to Detroit. Shout out to the Detroit Amps.
It was a great event that Braylon Edwards out there.
We're getting those interviews up on the channel. Shout out
to that drough Justin for helping to coordinate this as well.
But we were out there together. Got the interview Brailin
alongside George Gervin and Iso Joe as the official kickoff
(01:37:16):
for the Big Three coming here. And these guys, man,
they're ready. I don't even want to talk about it anymore.
Let's hear from the guys. I got Jeremy Pargo, who's
the captain. We got George Gervin, the Iceman NBA champion
in Detroit, legend, and we also got Iso Joe, one
of my favorite basketball players of the era that I watched,
one of my favorite you're talking about one of those
(01:37:37):
guys that was absolutely cold and I got some more content.
We won't show it now, but it will be coming
out later. He talked about one of his greatest influences
over his game, Jerry Stackhouse, really coming out. We got
the content, but let's start with one, mister Jeremy Pargo,
because all of these players are ecstatic to be right
here in Detroit. Hey, listen, we out here born in
(01:38:00):
Detroit store for this press conference, talk about the De
Trent apps and you got the three and three year chests. Man,
tell me about what it means being a bit weester
for you in specificly in Detroit.
Speaker 17 (01:38:09):

South side of Chicago Apple chip as well. And if
we don't play with that chip, you guys would definitely
let us know.
Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
So we're gonna come out here and do everything we
can to instill that Detroit spirit in our team and
they continue to push.
Speaker 18 (01:38:30):
It for yo, And how legendary is it you have
the Iceman as unreal and playing against ice for a
couple of years and bumping into ice Ice Ice is
to talk and not in a bad way.
Speaker 17 (01:38:41):
Ice is gonna make his jokes, have a good time.
Speaker 19 (01:38:44):
And it's always been love every time I came across Ice,
nothing but love.
Speaker 17 (01:38:48):
When I got the opportunity to come here, no no brainer.
Speaker 2 (01:38:53):
And you know what, tell me how much you know
iceman plays all on that? Tell me I'm gonna love
of basketball players? Well on that, and how much you
know what's what Detroit got. Let's ice made a call,
you know ice call and it was exactly this.
Speaker 17 (01:39:08):
I this ice cream because calling me it was a
no brainer.
Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
It was easy.
Speaker 17 (01:39:14):
And knowing he's from here, knowing what this city.
Speaker 18 (01:39:16):
Means, and you guys, they is a lot turn my
personality on rim.
Speaker 17 (01:39:24):
There we go, shout out to would Sports We out
here and Detroit. We gonna see y'all on the twentieth.
Speaker 2 (01:39:31):
What is it? L C A boom?
Speaker 17 (01:39:32):
I got it right for my first time. We're gonna
have a ball, come out and have some fun. Can't
Rea see that?
Speaker 2 (01:39:37):
Hey, let's go. That's a captain. Y'all better listen ourgo.
That is the captain of the Detroit Amps. That is
their Big three team. They want to win the championship
and make a lot of noise. They said that this
was the best rollout of any of the big three
of teams ever. That's what they said. They said they
haven't really felt this type of energy for it. There's
a lot of media out there, man, and the merchant
(01:39:59):
was out there there having it in not just the
Born in Detroit store, but it will be available in
some other stores too. But let's hear I Sooljo, I
want one of those hats. I want a hoodie, I
want all the march they do, got practice going on.
So I will be down there over the next couple
of days getting more and more content and hearing from
these guys who they really want their biggest impact to
be within the community, and they're glad that they're able
(01:40:21):
to do that right here in Detroit. They see it thriving.
Let's hear from ISO Joe Man Joe Johnson, who's one
of the coldest of the coldest. If you don't know,
go just type in his name. You see the auto
complete Joe Johnson, or you see ISO Joe. Joe Johnson
breaks Paul Pierce's ankles, one of the most epic ones.
But let's hear from Isojoe. Yeah, and you know what
the Detroit ass man brings you out here to Detroit,
a place that I know a lot of people are like,
(01:40:43):
he probably should have been here a long time ago.
You got a lot of people, I don't know if
you understand how many are like really excited about seeingw
Io Joe here in Detroit. Man, what does it mean
to you to be here in Detroit and to be
a part of I don't see the renaissance the culture
revives and what's going on in Detroit right now. Man,
it feels great.
Speaker 20 (01:40:59):
I know it's kind of a circle because it's like
twenty five years now. You know, I could have gotten
drafted by the Piston. I was on to pick away yeah,
from being a Piston. But I'm I don't know, Hey, bro,
don't remind me that I'm not holding it against y'all.
I've had a great and amazing career. It feels great
for everything to come back forward. Certain, but now for
me to be a part of the Detroit COMMNT community. Yes,
(01:41:20):
and like I say, bring championship basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:41:23):
Back to detroitan player, hey, you know, and just tell
me right now, what does still playing the Big Three
lead for you? You're a competitor that's what I've known
for your time in the NBA and now with the
Big Three. It's not just about the coach in the city.
But you're a hooper, man. Tell me what it means
to be able to get out there and get that competitive.
Speaker 20 (01:41:38):
But this going, man, I just I love the game
of basketball, bro. I fell in love with the game
at about seven eight years old. And for me, the
love and passion that I have for the sport, I
would never cheat it. So it's like this opportunity is
amazing for me because at the end of the day,
we're a little older, but we're still kids at heart.
Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
We still love to play, we still love.
Speaker 20 (01:41:57):
To compete, and we're gonna bring some fun winning basketball here.
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
They're gonna give you, guys some of the cheerful Hey,
you know what, Joe Johnson, I saw Joe. We're glad
to have you in Detroit. Let's get a what up
though for the people? What up down? And I'm thinking
we got woolri Re'sports. Let me get a wool Responts.
Speaker 17 (01:42:12):
Let's go, Hey, wool Resports, Let's go, babe.
Speaker 2 (01:42:15):
Let's go Detroit. Ampson July twentieth Show Up by LCA
we're gonna support our squad, Yes, sir. Shout out to
Joe Johnson, all the players and the dignitaries that showed
up in the city. You know at the dot. John
mccrew was out there was also with him Rachel Hotmeyer
CBS was there too, So I got to see some
of my media buddies and such. Matt Shefferd, the Goat
(01:42:35):
was MC and the thing and shout out to Matt
Shefferd too. But we got one more person who is
to go to goats when we talk about Detroit. N
is the iceman, Georgia Gervinu. Before we get into we
gotta switch or break some of these people's free agent outlet.
But shout out to the iceman who gave me his
time and more of these interviews will be available via
Wooper Sports. Brendan Edwards had exclusive sit downs with them
(01:42:57):
inside the Bourne in Detroit store. It's pretty epic, man.
Speaker 19 (01:43:00):
So what was it about these players that you know,
you thought they're a good fit for Detroit, They're a
good fit for the renaissance, and they're a good fit
to really push this vision and this message.
Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
You think it's not a new fault.
Speaker 21 (01:43:12):
They again they're old enough to know what life's all about.
So they got a message. You know, both of them
had nothing but success in the sport. But see they
know it beyond the sport. You know, our job is
to give back, you know, I mean so our job
also is to create opportunities, man, and program for the
youngsters can have an opportunity, to say, have the same
(01:43:35):
opportunity we have.
Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
So yeah, that's what you're gonna.
Speaker 21 (01:43:37):
See with this club. You know, it ain't a one
side swords. The two head sward thank them, and this
is how we thank them.
Speaker 2 (01:43:48):
Hey, you know what, Detroit, this is why you guys
need to be supporting the Detroit Amps. Go this basketball.
They're using this platform to push Detroit to another level
of hundred, the youth, the city itself, the renaissance. Get
out there and support the Detroit Amps. Get out there
and support a living legend who's continued to pour into
Detroit in the ice man, right, this is this is epic.
This is epic. Not like all about man, it's life
(01:44:11):
all about in the city. Man. I just saw the
people say, can see that. Everyone who's shut up with that,
and it's epic time. Man, Thank you for your time.
I can't wait, Leny tell the people Detroit what I've done, right.
Speaker 21 (01:44:24):
It ain't nothing but your man, that ice man, love
you man.
Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
I was born and.
Speaker 18 (01:44:29):
Let's go, smallest dude in the world, the iceman George
Gerdon with a freaking legend, not.
Speaker 2 (01:44:35):
Just for what it means for basketball, but right here
in the city. Man, it's been awesome because I've been
following the happenings over at Saint Cecilia, so that was
really really cool interaction with them and shout out again
to all the other people there are. Woodard of ESPN
was also in the building, so it was a really
really big turnout.
Speaker 8 (01:44:51):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:44:51):
And people are excited for what the Detroit Amps can be.
You know what their game is on the twenty if
you know what they're thinking about doing on nineteenth, fan
Fest and Hardest.
Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
Oh okay, they're.
Speaker 2 (01:45:02):
Talking about having it. They tell about get a why
but you brought up this was the best Big Big
Three roll out. They said, that's okay, That's what they said.
Isn't that what Detroit does? Every time there's something new,
it's always great, Like when the Super Bowl came here.
Oh my god, they're gonna have the Super Bowl in
(01:45:23):
the cold weather city's gonna suck. Even people from New
York said it was great. So that's why to me,
I understand why the Big Three is coming to Detroit,
but I think the w n b A is stupid
for not coming here. In MLS, Major League Soccer should
be here too, because we always do it. Right Terry,
(01:45:46):
Wait what, I don't shake your head, give me a reason. Okay,
here's what. Here's what you're doing. D C. Actually, they
don't want them here because the fans there don't want
higher ticket. They don't want this. Don't fall for their
fake brother. You need to get bigger and bigger don't matter,
(01:46:07):
bring in you. Okay. I get you don't want a
d C to disappear. That's probably why you don't know
it's over there passing it about it right now? Man?
Is it the Major League of Soccer and I but okay,
then I get what you're saying with this though, because
everything Detroit is doing in the sports world right now,
(01:46:28):
they're breaking records, they're setting records, they're showing people how
it's done, they're redefining how these things should go. Like
package fans, Well, we're gonna break the take the record
from your guards like DC right now, So we're gonna
take the record, and if they do, it's literally because
you guys are melting. But you're literally about three states.
You know, it's it's a it's a melting pot. And
they steal are saying we might have a million you're
(01:46:48):
telling me in DC the number one night life spot
and the number one the college spot in all of
this this great country is over like like one hundred
college within like a certain radius in DC. Yes, of
course you got a great shot, but it's not because
you're going to have done it better than Detroit. And
that's the thing to this point, who's the NFL draft
was so great? It's coming to Detroit within the next
(01:47:10):
five years. Again, the NFL loved it here. They said
they never experienced it. They're like, bro like, y'allready pulled
up in the middle of the city. We're on Woodward
freaking Avenue and Grand River. You got hotel right there,
and we're right at the Born of Detroit store outside
the mayor you know, deputy mayors out there. Business owners
(01:47:31):
are out there, the ownership group is out there, and
a lot of excited people, even other people coming down
out their hotels, come out their businesses to just try
and figure out what's going on because they've been putting
on the show. Remember even a StockX event in the
middle of campus marshes. Detroit does these things so right,
and you know what the players are paying attention. Joe
Johnson talked about. I got full longer interview with him.
(01:47:52):
He talked like, you used to come here and one
like this before, Like, nah, you've probably gone out to
the Palace for one and know the city wasn't like this.
This is about the rent of signs and they're saying
that they're glad to be here. Well, in their defense,
Detroit was one of the worst road trips in the
NBA at the time because basically you flew into Metro,
you took a bus around Detroit, so you were never
(01:48:12):
in Detroit. Then you go out to Auburn Hills and
they would stay if they were lucky, they would stay
in Troy, but a lot of times they stayed at
that that hotel in Pantac, so they never experienced Detroit.
They had no walking no place to walk around. So
Detroit was one of the worst spots in the NBA.
Bro it was Epican to see lesson just to be
(01:48:33):
down there and be in that environment, and I'm looking
forward to more. They're saying, show up, show out. They
want the fans to be out there. Uh, and they're
gonna they're gonna do everything in their power to make
sure that there is a lot, a lot of enrichment
for those fans. But we got a few more minutes
here in the in the in the show, and I
do want to be able to at least get to
a couple of the fans, a couple of the chap
(01:48:53):
family what they believe this offseason should look like. JB. Smooth,
I'm gonna let you decide what's going up there. If
we got the time, we'll get through them all. If not,
we'll get through the ones so select so read them off.
We'll definitely talk about it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:08):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:49:08):
And why you're preparing that though, Sam, have you checked
out santil Dom Like obviously in passing and when we
look at games and such and we hear the hubble up.
But obviously this isn't necessarily a player that I've heard
too many people be saying, you know, what, we need
to be first to the market as relates to this guy.
When I look at the skill set when I think
about how he can mesh now only don't want him here.
(01:49:30):
He makes me want to be able to definitely bring
back Milik Beasley, But I think that he would be
one of those perfect fits with how this team is run,
especially with Ka Cunneyham at the top.
Speaker 3 (01:49:39):
I mean, that's the thing with what Santi al Dama is.
He gives you the pick and pop ability right now
that we're dying that Durrant to have a Durant get
to eventually and from the mid range and from three.
He's one of the I would say, better role players
that not enough people have heard of or are talking about.
An he's seven feet tall to.
Speaker 2 (01:49:59):
But am I am I overthinking this because you look
at the numbers last year. It's not like they're gonna
blow you out of the water. But obviously usage plays
a role there. He's gonna be playing behind some pretty
decent front court players too. And then you know Memphis Grizzlies,
they just had a stroke of luck with their wing
players and their power forwards and their sinners. They are
getting everything right with their front court in my opinion,
(01:50:20):
But it looks like they're also gonna be one of
those dysfunctioned teams. Even though they you fire your coach,
you don't really know what you're doing with Jah realistically,
how you're gonna build a round if you keep him?
What are you gonna do with Triple J? And now
you might lose some of those role players because I
heard that the Grizzlies are one of those teams where
those role players have made the difference for them. They
put themselves on a radar in a weak free agency class,
(01:50:43):
and one of those guys is Santi Odam.
Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
And that's that's the big point in just in terms
of UFAs, no player options or not, it's not a
star studded class. So a Santi al Dama, he's one
of probably the more underrated. I wouldn't say he's a jewel,
but he could be the difference on a team that's
chasing a title. Somebody like him with his skill.
Speaker 2 (01:51:05):
Set, Yeah, definitely. And I wonder just how much more
does the ability of k Cunningham take him to the
next level.
Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
Well, that's a big part of it. He's more of
a past first player than John Moran.
Speaker 2 (01:51:14):
Yep. And before we get to what the fans believe
we should do, it's just a few more things out here,
some from mark Stein and some from hoops type. They
believe and they report on this that the Detroit Pistons
are in on Miles Turner. They said that it's pretty
much a foregone conclusion that the Detroit that the Indiana
Pacers are going to make an offer to Miles Turner
(01:51:35):
and that's probably the most likely scenario that he returns there.
But they said, this is mark Stein, that there was
one team of particular interests in Miles Turner that they
haven't really heard of any other chatter about other teams
kicking the tires on him, and that Detroit may be
one of those serious teams in pursuit of him in
free agency before he decides to go back to Indiana.
So that to me was interesting. And then also from
(01:51:58):
mark Stein, he also believes that the Pistons are gonna
that they're emerging to be a threat to pursue restricted
free agent Santi l Doma.
Speaker 3 (01:52:07):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (01:52:08):
So, just a few updates there for you as it
relates to the Pistons. And then Jake Winbott, who really
sent Pistons world into a tizzy when he mentioned that
the Pistons were among the heat sixers and spurs as
it relates to checking in or kicking the tires on
Laurie marketing. These are some names that we've been talking about.
And now you're gonna hear a lot more from me
(01:52:28):
about Santi because you kick the tires on Laurie, you're
gonna talk about probably giving up the farm when you're
dealing with Danny Ainge. When I'm looking at Santi Aldama,
I really like what he could present at a at
a much lower price point.
Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
Well that's Laurie Markenen is really intriguing to me, as
he should be to everyone with this, with his skill set,
the Danny Ainge factor, though you can't you can't let
him fleece you. You can't let him negotiate in bad faith.
And that's really the and that's big because it depends
(01:53:01):
on what it would take for Lori Marketing. But as
a player, Oh my goodness, I think that they're contenders
with Lori market and.
Speaker 2 (01:53:08):
I do too, Kate and Larde, Oh my goodness, gracious,
but it's just like, what do you have to do
to give it up? Can you rely on just those
two in building and tweaking around those because those players
are going to be a very, very heavy hit to
your cap space. We know that Kay Cunningham not only
is he stepping into thirty eight million this year, but
it's actually gonna be a little bit more because making
the All NBA team added forty five million dollars to
(01:53:29):
his overall contract. But JB Smooth, surprise me here, man,
Let's put up one of these, one of these. The
Chat family, they put in what they believe should be
happening this free agency, read it off for us, and
we'll definitely give our switch or brick on it.
Speaker 7 (01:53:42):
All right, let's go with this one first from Detroit
Flip fifty six point eighty. He said, Beasley is the
only free agent in house that has to come back.
Let Dennis and Tim walk feel that power for a
spot and trust your young young core group to develop.
Also off for Ivy and during extensions. But nothing, not
(01:54:04):
anything close to max money.
Speaker 2 (01:54:06):
Oh so he's going full flags man with his offseason.
He getting everything, He getting the young guys taking care
of too. And I'm not mad at that. You know,
you talk about that for that wing player. Part of
me wonders, do you bring back a Beasley? I would
bring back a stroller too, and they have the options
and the exemptions and the exceptions to be able to
bring these guys back and still be a player based
on the assist to have a roster to go and
(01:54:27):
get a guy like a san Taiodum. We'll say you brick.
Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
I'm gonna go brick with this plan, just because this
to me looks like running it back but losing two
of your veterans. And I don't think that Duran and
Ivy need to be extended right now. And I get
it obviously, we think Asar is gonna develop. We still
don't quite know what Ivy is in this completed, more
developed version of the Pistons during development as well. But
(01:54:52):
I just I think that's a little bit too much
running it back and hoping for development for my taste.
Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
T I don't think you can just run it back
and it sounds. It sounds good because you always assume
people are gonna get better because they're so young. But
you need hunger on the team, and you get hunger
by having new faces. Those new faces have never been
to Detroit. Those new faces might want to do things
(01:55:19):
a little bit more grittier than guys who've been here,
I'm gonna bring up a name and all you're gonna
throw up and say I'm crazy. Here's why I wouldn't
mind the Pistons having Alex Caruso. You know why. He's
a rat now he is. He's a little rat bastard
who would do anything. He can hit threes. I saw
(01:55:42):
him defending Karl Anthony Towns. He just does whatever, and
he's just an annoyance, you know what. I'm not mad
at that one, especially when you're talking about a player
of versatile or versatile on both ends of the court
and you talk about his defense, he's gonna be a
pest And sometimes I feel like that's lacking with the
with the Detroit Pistons, right, and you saw the aggression
(01:56:04):
have a return this year. But Alex Cruso's on those players,
so I think gives you a little bit more with
a with a little bit more size. I know there's
some people who wonder what's gonna happen with a guy
like a Marcus Satsu. They got some decisions even beyond
some of the who you're gonna bring in. They have
a lot of decisions on players who they're gonna have
decide they bringing them back. Are we gonna retain their
cap holes? As we're going to the draft season, They
(01:56:25):
have their most flexibility during that season right after Are
you gonna lock these guys back? You bringing them back?
They got some things to figure out. And that's where
Caruso and I've even heard them linked to Karris Avert.
That's where they become very very intriguing options.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Alex Caruso on this team.
Terry like like not throwing up at all. Would love
somebody like that. One of the better perimeter defender, annoyance
rats as you said, can shoot the three if it
were possible. Yet every team in basketball would want an
Alex caruz so hell, Lebron probably wishes he still had
(01:56:58):
him on the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
You know. Cardier says, Detroit Flip knows ball. That dude
is smart. That was the personal was sent in that one.
What up though? With Detroit? Gunny? What up though? Man?
He says Brick. Cardier says, keep busy and shrewder uh.
And I saw Willie be early. He was like, who
Sam tl Doma, look him up? Brother, He's I think
he and k with.
Speaker 3 (01:57:18):
Mes VI one of the more intriguing players that not
enough people have heard of.
Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
Hey, let's get another one JB's movie. My have time
for one? Maybe two more? Yeah? Yeah, I got you.
Speaker 7 (01:57:28):
This one seemed interesting to me, he said, Uh, who
is this? Uh for entertainment purposes only? Look Ivy Tobias
STU Tech picks all should be on the block for
an all star level power forward jj K D laurian
A D.
Speaker 2 (01:57:45):
Zion I don't think that's for entertainment. When you're talking
about going big, can we drop one name from that?
Which name? Zion iknew you were gonna say that. I'm
comfortable with that, But right do I want to gut
the team? I don't do. I like this this roster.
I do. But when you're talking about going out there
and getting a star, that's what it's gonna take. We
(01:58:06):
talked about the Detroit Pistons having now their full treasure troll.
They're full war chest. They can now trade them to
like four frust round pigs. They can do pig swaps.
They got a whole treasure troll full of second round
picks over the next however, many years too, so they
have everything they need, including even young capitol.
Speaker 3 (01:58:24):
Yeah, this is a switch on the block. Absolutely, they're
on the block. Who's who besites? Kate Cunningham has really
proven to be untouchable. Honestly, if there was a second
untouchable on this team, for me, it would probably be
a sar Thompson. So yeah, if you're talking about Ivy
Stewart picks Fontechi, Oh, there was a Tobias Harris, because
(01:58:45):
Tobias Harris to make the salaries mesh one hundred percent
on the table, not saying do it now or I riot,
but on the block.
Speaker 2 (01:58:52):
Yes, and yeah, you know it's a team of filled
with touchables. You can get a team you're getting the
hell out of here, but you don't want to gut
the team because if you cut the team, they're bringing
a superstar. You're bringing in a guy who likely hasn't
won elsewhere. He was playing on the team that was
(01:59:13):
already gut it, So now you're gonna bring him on
a Piston team that's got it. Magic is not gonna happen.
You're not gonna win that way.
Speaker 3 (01:59:20):
You have to be strategic, that being being the potential
haul or a version of that or some of that.
I don't think that's gutting.
Speaker 2 (01:59:29):
John c who was wearing a Detroit Tiger cap the
other day. KD, Kevin Durant, and I know that somebody
in there was saying that, just like this one among others,
they really want to see the Detroit Pistons pursuit. For me,
for a chemistry purposes, I kind of want to see it.
We know KD has continued to talk glowingly about k
cunning Hand. He want a k cnn to go to
(01:59:50):
this college as well. They joke about that type of stuff.
But since Kate has hit the NBA, really KD has
been first. He was the one first out of all
the stars to the block. As it relates to talking
about who k Cuney he is, he didn't talk about
who he would become. Every time he talked about k Cuney,
and even since his rookie season, it was with who
he is. He said this, this guy's a star. Yes,
(02:00:12):
I want him on the Piston scene. But there's a
little bit of fear factor. I would admit. A dude
bounces around for a reason, So I think the pain
in the ass factor must be high with Kevin Durant.
But you got JB. Bickerstaff here on this on the
in Detroit. I don't care if you have Jesus here.
He's bouncing around for a reason. Either he's not getting
(02:00:33):
along with folks. Get he goes somewhere and is unhappy. Goods,
grat That's gonna be interesting one. You know, we got
to talk to uh, you know a couple of people
who are kind of close to the to the situation.
It was interesting as well to talk to Lamont Yoda
of Core with Health, who's coming from that that that area,
friends with Matt Espiah and coming from Phoenix to Detroit.
A lot of people are bumping their gums about. Obviously
(02:00:55):
Devin Brooker come home. Those dreams are probably gonna be
dashed because the rumors are off from two years and
one hundred and fifty freaking million dollar extension. Hey, young fella,
get paid. Devin Booker shout out to the Michigan Natives.
But I do believe that there is other things on
that team, that Matt Ishpia who has business here in Detroit.
Come on, man, come on, I get it. You're never
(02:01:16):
gonna cut the deal on Devin Booker. But why do
you need the farm for Kevin Durant? He doesn't and
he's not gonna ask for the farm. You don't think so. No,
I think a lot of these trade scenarios are false.
I'm not gonna call him fuss, but they're not gonna.
It's not gonna be as egregious as we think it's
(02:01:37):
gonna be. For Kevin Durant, Phoenix probably wants to get
rid of his ass. That's an intriguing one to me.
That's in a trigue. I would think that they would
still hold farm and ask for the farm. They can't.
He's bouncing around, and when you bounce, that means your
trade value diminishes. There is something wrong with this man,
(02:01:58):
and I'm sure teams are saying man can play, but
down I want to deal with his bullshit.
Speaker 3 (02:02:03):
Well, this is where Willie b and the chat KD
is washed. Come on, bro, no, come on, no, he
is he prime KD. Absolutely not. But check out check
out the numbers, the shooting percentages, all of that. Just
watching him play, he is far from.
Speaker 4 (02:02:19):
Want that's the KD.
Speaker 8 (02:02:22):
You don't want prime KD because KDE needs to be
the star.
Speaker 4 (02:02:27):
He needs KD.
Speaker 8 (02:02:29):
That's willing to be like you know what, I'm gonna
be seven foot tall I'm gonna knock down fucking corner
three point shots, and I'm gonna play team ball. I'm
not here to be the hero anymore. I'm here to
help the next guy.
Speaker 4 (02:02:42):
And that's the KD you want.
Speaker 8 (02:02:43):
You don't want superstar KD because then you know what
happens to Caid.
Speaker 4 (02:02:46):
Goodbye.
Speaker 8 (02:02:47):
KDE's ball dominant. He's gonna be the star. And now
Kate is your.
Speaker 4 (02:02:51):
Number two, maybe number three.
Speaker 8 (02:02:54):
If you want k to succeed, you give him an
aging long in the tooth KD. Who can do what
the team needs, a stretch for, who can knock down
that cor right?
Speaker 2 (02:03:07):
And do you want KD? Turning the k Cunningham and said,
sit your bitch ass down. I got this cover because
that's what happened, what happened if he was prime, right KD.
Speaker 4 (02:03:16):
Like everybody's like, you don't want KD. No, you're right,
you don't want prime KD. You want this KD. You
want role player KD.
Speaker 2 (02:03:25):
O G k D, who's more complimentary of the next stars,
Colonel Kate already one of the faces of this.
Speaker 8 (02:03:31):
You want the dude that shows up at Ferndale Rec
League with his.
Speaker 2 (02:03:35):
Let me slightly alter that young you would want prime
KD if he had your attitude, but he wouldn't. That's
the problem, right, Well, no.
Speaker 4 (02:03:46):
That I mean that's what makes alpha's Alpha's right.
Speaker 8 (02:03:48):
That's why, right, that's why you had to break up
Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and James.
Speaker 4 (02:03:53):
Harden like that, that's just not going to survive together.
Speaker 2 (02:03:56):
But for me personally, I was almost of the ilf
of like, alright, put this out of my mind because
it's not possible. It's gonna cost a fortune. But this conversation,
I'm sitting here like wait, wait, wait, wait, what what
did I miss? Like if you're telling me it's as
easy as even what Cardy is saying he thinks that
Katie would cost just one first a few seconds and
maybe throwing sas I don't think it's gonna be that easy.
Speaker 4 (02:04:18):
Can walk there. I don't give a damn.
Speaker 1 (02:04:22):
T.
Speaker 2 (02:04:22):
I mean that you're not having to cut your young roster,
your young talent to be able to bring in And
by young, I mean this a sar Jayden Duran and
Jay and Ivy, those are the ones for me a
lot to give up for Katie. No, I wouldn't. I'm
saying can you do it without giving up any of
those guys.
Speaker 4 (02:04:40):
No, you're gonna have to give up one pick your poison.
It's probably gonna be Duran.
Speaker 2 (02:04:44):
Ivy Duran or a Sar which one you Thinkage Durham
and a Sar. But Bro, Bro, you just like all
these Piston fans, I want this guy, and I'm willing
to trade nothing. Every Body I hate as a player said,
I giving up on it. I didn't think that it
was something that was plausible. But if you're telling me
(02:05:05):
even just one of those guys, and I think you
come up with a bunch of draft picks and Jalen
Durham and get them God, and you have that you
got big sacks. You're willing to do that?
Speaker 9 (02:05:22):
I do Yeah, okay, yes, all right, yes, last year.
Speaker 2 (02:05:31):
Godey, I didn't think it was that possible. Man. Now
I'm gonna start calling some people. Man, we're gonna have
to investigate this because I keep hearing obviously you see
what national media is doing. Steven A. Smith is not
the only one talking about it. I'm hearing it now
on like the sub podcast and and and Mark Stein.
I wonder what the noise is. And then we heard
KD is supposed to We're supposed to know what he's
going within the next two weeks.
Speaker 8 (02:05:54):
Yeah, but I will say this about k D. Don't
forget when he shipped on the city when he was here, took.
Speaker 2 (02:06:01):
He's been waiting to Detroit hats man for like two years.
Speaker 4 (02:06:03):
Not okay, go back about five seven years. He didn't
like this place. He talked trash about it.
Speaker 2 (02:06:09):
I don't dude, we were talking trash about it five
to seven years ago.
Speaker 4 (02:06:16):
I don't care, Terry. I don't forget.
Speaker 8 (02:06:19):
You're allowed to talk because you're from here.
Speaker 4 (02:06:21):
He ain't.
Speaker 2 (02:06:22):
I don't forget. I don't forget. You know what. I
like that class out of town then, because I was
dogging the he's gonna be in the press conference like
we need a public apology.
Speaker 3 (02:06:32):
Some people in this fan base would have turned down
a straight Michael Jordan for Vinnie Johnson trade the city
of Detroit.
Speaker 8 (02:06:40):
I don't want that bum ass baseball player on my back.
Speaker 3 (02:06:44):
That's exactly That's exactly what I would have.
Speaker 4 (02:06:48):
He couldn't hit a slider. What's he gonna do for
the Pistons.
Speaker 8 (02:06:51):
YO.
Speaker 2 (02:06:55):
Traded to the Tigers. Tigers, that would be interesting. What
era was that what do you what do you have
been on there with? Like right, you're back to those personalities? Yeah,
can you imagine one hundred and twenty losses?
Speaker 8 (02:07:11):
Yeah, he couldn't even make it to the Tigers and
the Tigers were dog shit in cases.
Speaker 3 (02:07:17):
Where super chat you thought, could we give up Stewart
instead of Durham for k D.
Speaker 2 (02:07:28):
Yeah, that dude, I mean Travis in the building shots
a social media lead. He thinks that they value Stewart
a little more than Jenna during maybe earlier in the season.
You think the teams out there want Stewart over Durham.
Hm hmm, interesting, interesting, that's interesting one. You know, you
(02:07:50):
know we're gonna get more into this man. We got
some more content that's on the web and we gotta
break down here. We could talk basketball all day long,
especially with the legend falls in the building and you
know what, stick it's it's gonna be good hoops conversation
shot out to spinning just walked into the building. But
I think that's the show absolutely. Hey tam fan MEI
thank you guys for being here. If you didn't get
(02:08:11):
opportunity to go ahead and smash that light button to
support the wool cool. We had a full house in
the building in turn Noah intern Ryan, we got Travis
in the building. Uh, and you know we'll start over here.
Sticks in the building, spinning has walked into but we
got the legend t Falls and that dude justin. What
up though? Hey, I'm just happy to be here and
can't wait for Alex Caruso to join the Pistons. So exciting, dude,

content creators, and I definitely think JB and I are

just a little bit new to the game, but hopefully

Speaker 3 (02:10:41):
A fun fact about Alex Gruso in this NBA Finals
currently he is one of two players with a twenty
point game himself and of course s g A. Terry.
The man's a menace. He's about to be a star
role player on his second championship.
Speaker 2 (02:10:56):
He's a little bit of that. You know that that
Brad Holmes smoke too, and Flannel's not gonna like him
when he comes here. Yeah wait, I don't stick herd
that one today? That was that was interesting, but it's important.
Speaker 8 (02:11:08):
Brendan was mystified by Flannel Sam complimenting a role player.
Speaker 2 (02:11:12):
Hey, hey, a couple of times over the last couple
of weeks. Hey, yo, when we come back, when I
come back, I'll be back here Friday. Can we talk

Hunter was a rat. Still talk about it? Rat?
