I didn't have a chance to go see the uh
the animated the Porky Pig one that came out because
by the time that I was feeling all right, Uh yeah,
it was gone, they had already reduced show times for me.
They were like two point fifteen during the day. I'm like,
who's getting there?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
I swear it was in my local theater for a week.
We happened to be a week that I worked.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
We had it for a while, but it's just it. It.
I never had a chance, So I mean, I'll get
to it. I'll get to it. Nick, how are you doing.
You were feeling you were feeling bad for a little bit.
That's why you were off like last week two weeks,
can't remember.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
It was last week. It was it was rough. Yeah,
just a stomach bug. I have children and their Petri dishes,
so you know.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Awful, awful. I love your kids.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Yeah, but feeling better now. I did have an old
man day last Friday. I got in visa line and
glasses in the same day. I've never had to wear
glasses before, but I'd been to the dentist to get
my bizil and it's like, I'm out and about today.
I'll just go get my eyes checked. I've been having
headaches and whatnot. And yeah, I had to get glasses,

but two pairs of glasses, one for my computer and
one for everyday use. Because I'm old.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Nick, I feel like I had my oldest moment recently.
I checked the fiber content of a box of cereal.
I never did that before, and at thirty six, I
finally found that is my oldest moment. He was old

(02:37):
man was looking at the fiber content of cereal and
it wasn't like for any particular reason. It was like, I, yeah,
you should get more fiber. It's what you find out
as you get older. But I was like, huh, I
wonder how much fiber is in like cinnamon toast crunch,

(02:57):
which I don't mind getting, it's really good. Uh. It
was like it was like eight percent of your daily
and I was like, okay, I can eat enough servings
where i'd hit a hundred. But then I looked at
raisin bran, which I do like, but I've grown because

(03:17):
I get like, as a kid, my parents would sometimes
get raisin raisin brand and I would put sugar on it,
which would deplete the entire nutritional value.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
All the atritional value of your raisin brand.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
And of course, like raisins aren't themselves are like the
unhealthiest of fruits, Like they're not healthy. They're not unhealthy, unhealthy,
but they're definitely not healthy.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
No, they're definitely not healthy.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
But it was like twenty five percent. I was like, okay,
I guess I'll go with the raisin brand, which I
once again, I like raisin bran. I I do too,
I do too, so uh yeah, those were our old
Man Moments.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out, like I recently got
obsessed with I found like my all time stats on letterboxed,
and I'm looking at collections to see if I've finished
any of them. I'm like, okay, well, I've definitely seen
a Laddin the King and the King of Thieves. I
had it on VHS as a kid. I just never
ranked it so for some reason, just a little bit

(04:30):
of completion, which does not help me because I'm also
recently just restarted playing Red Dead Redemption two, and that's
a game that you cannot complete technically on the like
you could one hundred percent of it out, but.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
If you had an extra thousand hours.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
But I didn't enjoy the like whenever it first came out,
I didn't enjoy it that much. It felt like it
felt like too much of a departure from the first game,
like it just yeah, yeah, it just didn't feel it
didn't feel the same. And I've been playing the first
one in like in preparation for Red Dead Redemption shape,
and it felt a little too complicated. And now like

I let it sit for like a year or two
however long it's been out, and now like everything feels it's.

Been out like ten years at this point.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
It's a Dead Redemption two. Yes, no, yes, you got
to look that up, because I do not believe you.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Red Dead Redemption two came out in drum Roll Please
twenty twenty eighteen, so it's it's still been a while.
It's been seven years.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, so I it feels a little bit more intuitive now.
I definitely I made myself dress a lot nicer than
I maybe would have even then. But it's that's a
good game. I technically I have Fallout four on there
as well, which I've been playing a little bit too,

just I don't know i'm playing. I'm trying to play
some of the games I owned that i'd never even
I have, like the Avengers game, which I've heard isn't good,
but I still want to play it. And then I
eventually need to get a PS five so I can
play the New Spider Man game and in C double

a football.

Mm hmm in C double a football, thank you.

Yeah, I don't have that privilege unfortunately.

Okay, sometail for five dollars right now, so.

Oh that works out for a person who only has
a PS four. I admittedly would not play it enough
to justify it, but I still want it. I don't
blame you.

I would actually play a lot of in cula. It's
actually good that I don't have it. I would probably
i'd become a streamer. Yeah, this isn't too much of
a departure from no.

So I want to jump into movie news real quick
because one of the articles I read in the last
few days was the most Bill Hayter thing I've ever
read in my life that I feel like I have
to bring it up. Bill was doing an interview and

was talking about he was with John Mulaney, by the way,
was talking about his his jobs before he became an actor.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Oh yeah, yeah, you're good one. The thing that happened
out here in Timpe. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
So he he was apparently working at a movie theater
and Titanic hadn't come out yet, and this sorority bought
out the movie theater to watch a movie, obviously, and
he apparently got fired from that job after that night

(08:11):
because he quote ruined the ending of Titanic.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
And if that's not the most Bill hater thing on
the face of the planet.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, they well, they don't know what is. They were
rude to him, and obviously and obviously like he retaliated.
He they said like they were kind of like poke
in front of it, Adam, because he kind of looked
like Charles Manson at the time. Yes, and he's like,
admittedly I did, and but they just want to move
out of the way in the lobby.

Uh.

So I told him enjoyed the movie. Enjoyed the movie
the boat Leo dies. You think he's just you think
he's asleep, but he's frozen, and they say, no, no,
it doesn't. And I tore their tickets and that show
and I got fired.

Apparently the manager came down and he was and he
was just smiling the entire time and said, you know
I have to fire you, don't you.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, of course, yeah, apparently that was out here in Tempe.
So I it's I love Bill Hater.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Uh you know, Bill Hayter is one of my favorite
people on the planet.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah. I mean SNL South Park writer Barry Barry. I
still need to finish Barry, so I know. But like
it got that, that show got stressful the way like
Breaking Bad got stressful. It's yeah, it's they're hard to watch. Yeah,
great to watch, Yeah, but they're stressful. Yeah. Nothing, probably

because I haven't watched enough. But like one of the
more stressful movies. I always bring it up just because
it's it's worth bringing up. Shiva Baby. Watch Shiva Baby.
That is seventy seven minutes of stress and I love it.

Uh, No, you're you are correct, though, great show, difficult
to watch. Have you seen the rest of the casting
for the new Harry Potter series at HBO.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I just saw the I guess the confirmation of Snape today.
I don't remember his name, but I wish him lucky.
I hope that they protect him because, no matter, no
matter what characters, it was going to be a tall
order and to cast a blackmail.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Uh, it's a about I hope he is protected and
I hope he performs the ship out of it. I
think it'd be great. One of the most storied characters
in it. Uh recent cinema memory and literature memory and

so far like you got John Lithgow, who is good
to knock it out of the park. I mean he
definitely brings a different presence than Richard Harris or Michael Gambon.
Uh Ri ip to both of them, obviously. H I
am super excited for Nick Frost as as Ruby.

Is that confirmed?

Yes, that is confirmed.

I hadn't heard a confirmation.

Yeah, Nick, Nick Nick Frost is confirmed as Ruby is
Hagrid taking over for the late Great Robbie Coltrane. That
should be fantastic.

Admittedly for Liftgo, there's not a lot of heavy lifting
in those first two.

Books, admittedly, so you are correct. Once you hit, once
you hit, ask band and on.

Yeah, then he's more prevalent, much.

Much more prevalent, but important scenes in those first two
books for sure. And then Janet McTeer an English actress
who was from the Menu and Ozark is taking over
for the late Great Maggie Smith as Professor Minerva McGonagall,

So you know, we have We also had a confirmation
of who was playing Querrel. I cannot at this time
find that name. Oh here we go. H it is
Luke Thallon as Professor Queerrel and Paul Whitehouse as Argust Filch,

the Caretaker. So we kind of have the main crew
of Hogwarts that's all been announced. We're really just waiting
on Harry Hermione Ron and like Draco. Yeah, and God
be with the people who take on those roles.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
I can't even like, I'm not even I'm not even
trying to think of actors right now. Well, I mean,
I mean it's because I have no idea. I wouldn't know.
I feel like i'd be like, it's not like a
Tom Holland. We knew about Tom, yeah, because he was
in like The Impossible and at that point he was
already like fourteen fifteen.

I think it's they've got to treat it like they
did Balz was young. Yeah, they've got to treat it
how they did with the movies. And these kids are
obviously going to have to grow up with each series,
you know. I mean, you get a ten year old
or an eleven year old for this, right, like you
you have to.

I'd say probably twelve or thirty. Probably eleven to twelve.
I think that's the range that you want to go with.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Well, I guess Harry was eleven when he first went
to Hogwarts, so that would make Yeah.

But like I mean, TV doesn't come out as fast
as it used to, so no.

But I think when you're talking about a series on Max,
like they're going to release a book a year. Yeah.

Has it been one year? Bringing up Max? Has it
been one year or two years since the last season
of the Last of Us?

Was it? It's been a year?

It's been a year? Yeah, Okay, so you know it.

Would have a little over a year. Excuse me, it
had to take a break during the strike. Yes, so
that actually pushed it back. But speaking of the Last
of Us though season premiere last night, Yes, did you
did you catch it?

Yes? It did. I was I was going to bring it.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Up, Okay, go ahead the helm.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
I I don't know enough about the game. So I'm
very excited about Caitlin Dever's role, just because I like
Caitlyn Dever quite a bit as Abby. Yeah, she's a
great actress. I've been watching her honestly since she was
a kid. She's been working for a long time. She's

she worked in on a Tim Allen sitcom and my
family and I watched that show, so I mean, uh,
and she was good in that. She was actually probably
the best part of that show for part of it
until she kind of outbrew the show. And so I'm
a big fan of because I had no idea what

(15:16):
her character is in the game, and I didn't know
she was out to kill Joel so and so I'm
just thinking, oh, spoilers. I mean, that's the yea, that's
the start of the episode. That's an opening scene. But
so I'm excited about that. But I do also do know,

(15:38):
just because I live on the internet, that she is
a hated character Matty. Yes, yes, bye bye by dumb
people for probably no reason except for the fact that
she's a woman in a game.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Well, I think it's because it's what she does at
the beginning of the game. To be honest with you, like, Okay,
having having played both of the games that the show
is based on, I could tell you a feeling. Though
Abby is a great character. Yeah, I despised her at first.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Okay, Okay, that's fine. But for some reason, like whenever
I hear it first, because I don't know that lens.
I don't know the fact that she does something despicable
that makes you hate her. I just thought that people
were just angry at her just because she was a
woman I think voiced by Laura Bailey, isn't she I
believe so. Yeah, A big fan of Laura Bailey. Born

in the same city. I just know that about us
just because I looked at people who were born where
I was.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
You know. I think the saddest part about Last of
Us two is that we only get seven episodes of it.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Was that it well, how how many episodes were episode
in season one?

Speaker 1 (16:57):
I think it was probably I think it's eight yeah,
a good eight.

Yeah, it was a good, great opening episode. We definitely
have a lot of questions, Uh, the the what are they?
The clickers are smarter and we're we're finding new ones?
What was with that? That pipe? That terrified like that

was the scariest part of the episode, if I'm being
completely honest, not even the grocery store. Was the grocery store.
It was a good scene. I also like the training
scene with with I can't think of her name, the
main girl. Yeah, yeah, I enjoyed the her fight like

train fighting at the very beginning.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Just an amazing actor period. And then.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Isabellamer said, really likable in this too. I mean, she's
just good at being a very likable character. I hope
nothing bad happens.

I think all that matters is that we also get
Catherine O'Hair. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Oh, man, her scene that was I don't like. I
didn't know that was coming either.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
I don't.

I don't know if anybody did, except for people I'm
sure watched played the games. But man, she kind of
turned that conversation quickly around. I will say it was
a shame. Shame. I don't believe she was was she
in the studio this week.

So God, that was such a funny episode. Yes, oh my,
it was like all the Emily Blunt like references. We're
killing Like, uh, there she is over there, bossing everyone around.

I swear to God that this show was made specifically
for the two of us. Is that now we're talking
about the studio by the way.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Yeah, okay, I mean we can let's just go. Let's
finish with the last of Us, the last of Us.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
I'm looking forward to the to the season like it
is prestige television at a very high level. It's what
HBO does and has always done, and its Yeah, it
just so happens to be based on a couple of
video games that were also brilliant.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Yeah.

So, I mean it's it's nice to finally set aside
all the U ball of it All and or whatever
his name was. He used to do all the video
game movies and get a good product based on a

medium that is all about storytelling.

Yeah, and that's the thing whenever you if you watch
the featurettes after the episodes. Uh, the creator of the show,
not the game. He Uh, the creator of the game
is also very highly involved involved in the in the show.
But Craig Mason cares like like whenever you hear him

talk about it because he's a like the creator of
the show and like, I think, the top producer of it.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
So he is Craig, Craig is the top guy. Craig's
like the executive Producer's just.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Got to hear him talk and like like with such
passionate about the about what he's making.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
But him and Neil Truckman. Neil Truckman is the the
studio head and the head of Creative Naught and Naughty
Dog is the video game company that develops The Last
of Us as well as just a ton of other

amazing games. Yeah series.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
I can't think of Naughty Dog without Crash Bandicoot.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Yeah, Crash Bandicoot Uncharted, and then obviously, like I said,
the Last of Us. But Neil Druckman is very involved
in it, and he and Craig actually write the majority
of the episodes. And Neil, who who had such a
hand in creating the world of The Last of Us
Parts one and two, has also okayed many changes where

he's like, hey, that's that's actually better than what we
did in the game. We should make this change.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
So like real, sometimes you have to you have to compromise,
like going because you don't you don't have the free Well.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
You're talking about a video game that takes upwards of
forty five to sixty hours depending on how much you
put into it, and translating that into seven eight hours
of television. Yeah, like you're you can't do everything, you
literally can't.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
I am happy that The Righteous Gemstones kind of got
like they they had The White Lotus come out during
the same time too, so they kind of get I'm
hoping that people who who got on on HBO two
or on Max to watch The White Lotus also saw hey,
let's watch the Righteous Gemstones and then now The Last

(22:37):
of Us they're getting the second half. So I'm hoping
people watching The Last of Us take a chance on
Jims because this last episode was I guess we are
getting two prelude episodes this year, yeah, which, yeah, this
was like I think this is my favorite prelude episode.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
I don't know that first episode of the season was
really good.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
No, I mean besides, I mean besides that one, that
one is like that one took its own beast, which
is phenomenal. I I don't love I like Bradley Cooper.
I don't love giving Bradley Cooper a ton of like
that kind of credit that he's like the reason why
that's so good because he wants it too bad. I

love him. He wants he wants it so bad though.

He really wants an Oscar. That's all I say.

I want it for him, but not in the way
that he wants it. I love him. I hope all
the best for him, because the thing is, he's really
good at what he does. You just need to find
a year, man, I mean Leo. Leo suffered with it
for so long. He just couldn't find the year. Uh
and The Revenant is far from his best performance, far

from it, but it was it was it was a
year that he could fit.

Before we talk about this week's episode of Jimstones, I
think it's important because obviously we didn't get to talk
last week. We have to talk about Baby Billy's teen.

Just. You can't you don't just like separate words like that,
like you can't just take the Jay from Jesus and
then the teens.

It doesn't.

Words don't work that way. You got a green light teen?

Just I don't even remember the TV series green lit
by the Jypstones, featuring a teenage Jesus.

Who's hip and cool man. Yeah, God, I love like
it's it's kind of a shame that like he like
Baby Billy doesn't get I guess it's it. It works
because we don't get too much Baby Billy, so we
don't we get just enough Baby Billy. Yeah, we could

use a little bit more. Actually, you know what, some
of the episodes where he does appear more, it just
like that makes it so much better.

I just love that we live in a world where
Walton Goggins is all over HBO, all over everywhere.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
I do like Walton. I you know, man, I think
it happened during the pandemic or right before or maybe
right after. There was a show on CBS that I
really enjoyed. Yes, well yeah, yeah, like two or three seasons.
I love the cast, like Cordrey, Mikayla Watkins so like

it was such a good ensemble. Even the kids were
good on the show. But then, honestly, Walton got a
little too big for a CBS sitcom, Like he kind
of blew up like right then, yes, which good for him.

I mean he Omar Miller was really good in that
show too.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Yes, thank you. I couldn't. I was trying to think.
I was trying to. Yeah, I loved him too. I
mean he he's a good just character actor too.

But also, isn't he on a procedural or was he
on a procedural as well? I think he was.

I mean he has to be write he was. He
was in the short lived True Lies show.

I know that. Yeah, I did watch that. I watched
all of them. I watched Rush Hour he was.

He was the voice of Raphael and Rise of the
Ninja Turtles, which was the Yeah, the inferior version of
Ninja Turtles.

I had fron of them.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
I had two tens. No, no, no, there's nothing wrong
with it. I just enjoyed the like twenty fourteen Ninja
Turtles on Nickelodeon.

Oh yeah, I see, I never like that's something my kids.

Were growing up like that was Clark's favorite show growing up.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
I'm thirteen.

That's the thing about Ninja Turtles. I like the fact
that almost every generation has their own Ninja Turtle. Same
thing with like Power Rangers they have they all have
their own different versions of Power Rangers.

So omar, it's also in the movie Centers, which is
coming out Friday. Memory, Yeah, it comes out Friday, That's right.
I was actually which I will be going to see
because I'm super freaking excited for it.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
I was just listening. I'm only like half an hour
into it of Ryan Coogler's conversation with Mark Marron on
GTF so good. Didn't realize like everything that he had done,
Like like I said, I'm only like half an hour in.
But his his mom's assign language interpreter. His dad worked

with hardened youth and was on the softer side of it,
and but just incredibly intelligent. Didn't know like like like
his backup plan was doctor yeah, until like one of
his teachers told him you should write screenplays, and he

fell in love with it just because of like he
had to take one. He had to take a English
class at his liberal arts college where he went to played.

Football football Scramental State, but.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
They lost their program, yeah in two thousand and four.
Well not Sacramento State, Saint Mary's Mary's did, Yeah, And
because they lost, like he because he had to take
a liberal arts class, he fell in love with screenwriting
and now is like a a seminary that's seminal director

of this generation.

Yeah, I mean he his his bachelor's is in finance,
I believe, and he didn't get into film until he
went and got his masters in in uh Cinematic Arts
from usc Yeah.

Like he's incredible.

So he's a brilliant man.

So I'm really looking. I like, I like everything involved
with this movie. I like Michael B. Jordan, I like
Ryan Coogler, I like Hailey Steinfeld. I like the rest
of the cast.

And we get to Michael B. Jordan's in the Yeah, smooth.
Actually I didn't know that he plays twins. He plays
Smoke and Stack the twins.

But and apparently, like the preferred way to see this
is an IMAX, So I'm gonna have to go over
to the Signal Butte location that has the IMAX, which
just means I'll get in and out afterwards.

So we also get what for a movie.

If I go over there, I get an in and
out double double animal style. Now, actually, you know, I
might try, like because my palates changed, and I don't
mind Onion. Now I don't like uncooked onion.

No, No, definitely not.

Or raw.

I knew what you were saying, but I don't.

Like raw onions, so I'm not sure if there their

We also get Delroy Lindo in uh So, who is
just a great character actor as well.

which was the worst thing ever for anybody at that
camp because we didn't like nobody understood us, like like Tina,

people came around to like that particular style of like
because if they ended up liking Nachobra, Nato Lee Bray
is not necessarily like a like it's structured, so it's

jared Ness is like those first three movies are like
low budget Wes Anderson. They're very stylized, They're very much
like you can look at a Jared Nest movie for
the most part, except for Minecraft and tell oh that

a Wes Anderson movie. Uh. But I feel like the

because I went to a nine to fifteen showing of
it PM and there were a bunch of teens, youths, youths.

real world were so over their head. They didn't understand

specific you could tell it was like a very specific
reference from the game, they would applaud. They would cheer,
and uh Like it wasn't like an audience I'd ever
really been with before, but it felt like they like
they needed to participate to enjoy the movie because they're

used to being on their phones and stuff. But throughout
the movie, I just kind of felt like they they
kind of grew up a little bit while watching the
movie on how to watch a movie because it was
a subject matter that they really understand and like, but
with a story built around it. Now it's still absurd

together and they they do fun things and yeah, it's
it's not it's very off kilter, and Jason Momoa is
just they're screaming and yelling and acting like a a

with uh with Jason Momoa and Jack Black where they
have to do something really weird and it's I was

Goofy movie. It was one of my favorites growing up.
I like, I have a very specific memory for it,

with a very specific wrestling meet I went to when

I went when I lived in Alaska, because one of
my teammates his parents had like a camper van, like
in the back of their truck. In retrospect, I have
no idea if they were living there, but they had
a they had a TVBCR in there, and I remember
watching a Goofy movie after I won my first match

that I'd ever won, and I had no other matches
that day because like the next match, I lost, so
I was out of the tournament. So I had hours
to kill. So me and my sisters and a couple
of friends went to this camper van and watched a
goofy movie while playing so many games of candy Land.

So I associate this with a very happy memory and
not just a goofy. I figured everybody loved this movie.
I feel like I felt like everybody held this movie
in pretty high regard, and I think, like, I think
the movie proves that everybody did. It's just Disney and
the creators didn't. They had no idea what kind of

impact this movie had. And it's legit like a really
good father son story too, So it's a good story.
And people were just upset because it wasn't Goofy being Goofy.
It was Goofy being a dad. But highly suggests not
