Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome back to what was Everybody? The podcast exclusively for
people who realize Larry Bird's not white. He's clear where
your host is always I'm.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Nick, I'm Andre and I mean he how did he
get he's not in this picture? Uh picture? Uh?
Speaker 1 (00:42):
I love the Looney Tunes.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Oh my god, same. I'm so excited for Wiley Coywdie
versus zach Me.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I didn't have a chance to go see the uh
the animated the Porky Pig one that came out because
by the time that I was feeling all right, Uh yeah,
it was gone, they had already reduced show times for me.
They were like two point fifteen during the day. I'm like,
who's getting there?
Speaker 1 (01:07):
I swear it was in my local theater for a week.
We happened to be a week that I worked.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
We had it for a while, but it's just it. It.
I never had a chance, So I mean, I'll get
to it. I'll get to it. Nick, how are you doing.
You were feeling you were feeling bad for a little bit.
That's why you were off like last week two weeks,
can't remember.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
It was last week. It was it was rough. Yeah,
just a stomach bug. I have children and their Petri dishes,
so you know.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Awful, awful. I love your kids.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Yeah, but feeling better now. I did have an old
man day last Friday. I got in visa line and
glasses in the same day. I've never had to wear
glasses before, but I'd been to the dentist to get
my bizil and it's like, I'm out and about today.
I'll just go get my eyes checked. I've been having
headaches and whatnot. And yeah, I had to get glasses,
(02:10):
but two pairs of glasses, one for my computer and
one for everyday use. Because I'm old.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Nick, I feel like I had my oldest moment recently.
I checked the fiber content of a box of cereal.
I never did that before, and at thirty six, I
finally found that is my oldest moment. He was old
(02:37):
man was looking at the fiber content of cereal and
it wasn't like for any particular reason. It was like, I, yeah,
you should get more fiber. It's what you find out
as you get older. But I was like, huh, I
wonder how much fiber is in like cinnamon toast crunch,
(02:57):
which I don't mind getting, it's really good. Uh. It
was like it was like eight percent of your daily
and I was like, okay, I can eat enough servings
where i'd hit a hundred. But then I looked at
raisin bran, which I do like, but I've grown because
(03:17):
I get like, as a kid, my parents would sometimes
get raisin raisin brand and I would put sugar on it,
which would deplete the entire nutritional value.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
All the atritional value of your raisin brand.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
And of course, like raisins aren't themselves are like the
unhealthiest of fruits, Like they're not healthy. They're not unhealthy, unhealthy,
but they're definitely not healthy.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
No, they're definitely not healthy.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
But it was like twenty five percent. I was like, okay,
I guess I'll go with the raisin brand, which I
once again, I like raisin bran. I I do too,
I do too, so uh yeah, those were our old
Man Moments.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Old Man Moments of the Week, brought to you by
What's the Podcast.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, I'm trying to figure out, like I recently got
obsessed with I found like my all time stats on letterboxed,
and I'm looking at collections to see if I've finished
any of them. I'm like, okay, well, I've definitely seen
a Laddin the King and the King of Thieves. I
had it on VHS as a kid. I just never
ranked it so for some reason, just a little bit
(04:30):
of completion, which does not help me because I'm also
recently just restarted playing Red Dead Redemption two, and that's
a game that you cannot complete technically on the like
you could one hundred percent of it out, but.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
If you had an extra thousand hours.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
But I didn't enjoy the like whenever it first came out,
I didn't enjoy it that much. It felt like it
felt like too much of a departure from the first game,
like it just yeah, yeah, it just didn't feel it
didn't feel the same. And I've been playing the first
one in like in preparation for Red Dead Redemption shape,
and it felt a little too complicated. And now like
(05:15):
I let it sit for like a year or two
however long it's been out, and now like everything feels it's.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Been out like ten years at this point.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
It's a Dead Redemption two. Yes, no, yes, you got
to look that up, because I do not believe you.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Red Dead Redemption two came out in drum Roll Please
twenty twenty eighteen, so it's it's still been a while.
It's been seven years.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, so I it feels a little bit more intuitive now.
I definitely I made myself dress a lot nicer than
I maybe would have even then. But it's that's a
good game. I technically I have Fallout four on there
as well, which I've been playing a little bit too,
(06:07):
just I don't know i'm playing. I'm trying to play
some of the games I owned that i'd never even
I have, like the Avengers game, which I've heard isn't good,
but I still want to play it. And then I
eventually need to get a PS five so I can
play the New Spider Man game and in C double
(06:27):
a football.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Mm hmm in C double a football, thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, I don't have that privilege unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Okay, sometail for five dollars right now, so.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Oh that works out for a person who only has
a PS four. I admittedly would not play it enough
to justify it, but I still want it. I don't
blame you.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
I don't blame you.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
I would actually play a lot of in cula. It's
actually good that I don't have it. I would probably
i'd become a streamer. Yeah, this isn't too much of
a departure from no.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
So I want to jump into movie news real quick
because one of the articles I read in the last
few days was the most Bill Hayter thing I've ever
read in my life that I feel like I have
to bring it up. Bill was doing an interview and
(07:30):
was talking about he was with John Mulaney, by the way,
was talking about his his jobs before he became an actor.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Oh yeah, yeah, you're good one. The thing that happened
out here in Timpe. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
So he he was apparently working at a movie theater
and Titanic hadn't come out yet, and this sorority bought
out the movie theater to watch a movie, obviously, and
he apparently got fired from that job after that night
(08:11):
because he quote ruined the ending of Titanic.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
And if that's not the most Bill hater thing on
the face of the planet.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, they well, they don't know what is. They were
rude to him, and obviously and obviously like he retaliated.
He they said like they were kind of like poke
in front of it, Adam, because he kind of looked
like Charles Manson at the time. Yes, and he's like,
admittedly I did, and but they just want to move
out of the way in the lobby.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
So I told him enjoyed the movie. Enjoyed the movie
the boat Leo dies. You think he's just you think
he's asleep, but he's frozen, and they say, no, no,
it doesn't. And I tore their tickets and that show
and I got fired.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Apparently the manager came down and he was and he
was just smiling the entire time and said, you know
I have to fire you, don't you.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, of course, yeah, apparently that was out here in Tempe.
So I it's I love Bill Hater.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Uh you know, Bill Hayter is one of my favorite
people on the planet.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah. I mean SNL South Park writer Barry Barry. I
still need to finish Barry, so I know. But like
it got that, that show got stressful the way like
Breaking Bad got stressful. It's yeah, it's they're hard to watch. Yeah,
great to watch, Yeah, but they're stressful. Yeah. Nothing, probably
(09:53):
because I haven't watched enough. But like one of the
more stressful movies. I always bring it up just because
it's it's worth bringing up. Shiva Baby. Watch Shiva Baby.
That is seventy seven minutes of stress and I love it.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Uh, No, you're you are correct, though, great show, difficult
to watch. Have you seen the rest of the casting
for the new Harry Potter series at HBO.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
I just saw the I guess the confirmation of Snape today.
I don't remember his name, but I wish him lucky.
I hope that they protect him because, no matter, no
matter what characters, it was going to be a tall
order and to cast a blackmail.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Uh, it's a about I hope he is protected and
I hope he performs the ship out of it. I
think it'd be great. One of the most storied characters
in it. Uh recent cinema memory and literature memory and
(11:07):
so far like you got John Lithgow, who is good
to knock it out of the park. I mean he
definitely brings a different presence than Richard Harris or Michael Gambon.
Uh Ri ip to both of them, obviously. H I
am super excited for Nick Frost as as Ruby.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Is that confirmed?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yes, that is confirmed.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
I hadn't heard a confirmation.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, Nick, Nick Nick Frost is confirmed as Ruby is
Hagrid taking over for the late Great Robbie Coltrane. That
should be fantastic.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Admittedly for Liftgo, there's not a lot of heavy lifting
in those first two.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Books, admittedly, so you are correct. Once you hit, once
you hit, ask band and on.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah, then he's more prevalent, much.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Much more prevalent, but important scenes in those first two
books for sure. And then Janet McTeer an English actress
who was from the Menu and Ozark is taking over
for the late Great Maggie Smith as Professor Minerva McGonagall,
(12:19):
So you know, we have We also had a confirmation
of who was playing Querrel. I cannot at this time
find that name. Oh here we go. H it is
Luke Thallon as Professor Queerrel and Paul Whitehouse as Argust Filch,
(12:40):
the Caretaker. So we kind of have the main crew
of Hogwarts that's all been announced. We're really just waiting
on Harry Hermione Ron and like Draco. Yeah, and God
be with the people who take on those roles.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
I can't even like, I'm not even I'm not even
trying to think of actors right now. Well, I mean,
I mean it's because I have no idea. I wouldn't know.
I feel like i'd be like, it's not like a
Tom Holland. We knew about Tom, yeah, because he was
in like The Impossible and at that point he was
already like fourteen fifteen.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
I think it's they've got to treat it like they
did Balz was young. Yeah, they've got to treat it
how they did with the movies. And these kids are
obviously going to have to grow up with each series,
you know. I mean, you get a ten year old
or an eleven year old for this, right, like you
you have to.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
I'd say probably twelve or thirty. Probably eleven to twelve.
I think that's the range that you want to go with.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Well, I guess Harry was eleven when he first went
to Hogwarts, so that would make Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
But like I mean, TV doesn't come out as fast
as it used to, so no.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
But I think when you're talking about a series on Max,
like they're going to release a book a year. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Has it been one year? Bringing up Max? Has it
been one year or two years since the last season
of the Last of Us?
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Was it? It's been a year?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
It's been a year? Yeah, Okay, so you know it.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Would have a little over a year. Excuse me, it
had to take a break during the strike. Yes, so
that actually pushed it back. But speaking of the Last
of Us though season premiere last night, Yes, did you
did you catch it?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Yes? It did. I was I was going to bring it.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Up, Okay, go ahead the helm.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
I I don't know enough about the game. So I'm
very excited about Caitlin Dever's role, just because I like
Caitlyn Dever quite a bit as Abby. Yeah, she's a
great actress. I've been watching her honestly since she was
a kid. She's been working for a long time. She's
(14:56):
she worked in on a Tim Allen sitcom and my
family and I watched that show, so I mean, uh,
and she was good in that. She was actually probably
the best part of that show for part of it
until she kind of outbrew the show. And so I'm
a big fan of because I had no idea what
(15:16):
her character is in the game, and I didn't know
she was out to kill Joel so and so I'm
just thinking, oh, spoilers. I mean, that's the yea, that's
the start of the episode. That's an opening scene. But
so I'm excited about that. But I do also do know,
(15:38):
just because I live on the internet, that she is
a hated character Matty. Yes, yes, bye bye by dumb
people for probably no reason except for the fact that
she's a woman in a game.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Well, I think it's because it's what she does at
the beginning of the game. To be honest with you, like, Okay,
having having played both of the games that the show
is based on, I could tell you a feeling. Though
Abby is a great character. Yeah, I despised her at first.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Okay, Okay, that's fine. But for some reason, like whenever
I hear it first, because I don't know that lens.
I don't know the fact that she does something despicable
that makes you hate her. I just thought that people
were just angry at her just because she was a
woman I think voiced by Laura Bailey, isn't she I
believe so. Yeah, A big fan of Laura Bailey. Born
(16:36):
in the same city. I just know that about us
just because I looked at people who were born where
I was.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
You know. I think the saddest part about Last of
Us two is that we only get seven episodes of it.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Was that it well, how how many episodes were episode
in season one?
Speaker 1 (16:57):
I think it was probably I think it's eight yeah,
a good eight.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yeah, it was a good, great opening episode. We definitely
have a lot of questions, Uh, the the what are they?
The clickers are smarter and we're we're finding new ones?
What was with that? That pipe? That terrified like that
(17:25):
was the scariest part of the episode, if I'm being
completely honest, not even the grocery store. Was the grocery store.
It was a good scene. I also like the training
scene with with I can't think of her name, the
main girl. Yeah, yeah, I enjoyed the her fight like
(17:51):
train fighting at the very beginning.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Just an amazing actor period. And then.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Isabellamer said, really likable in this too. I mean, she's
just good at being a very likable character. I hope
nothing bad happens.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I think all that matters is that we also get
Catherine O'Hair. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Oh, man, her scene that was I don't like. I
didn't know that was coming either.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
I don't know if anybody did, except for people I'm
sure watched played the games. But man, she kind of
turned that conversation quickly around. I will say it was
a shame. Shame. I don't believe she was was she
in the studio this week.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
No, I don't believe.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
So God, that was such a funny episode. Yes, oh my,
it was like all the Emily Blunt like references. We're
killing Like, uh, there she is over there, bossing everyone around.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
I swear to God that this show was made specifically
for the two of us. Is that now we're talking
about the studio by the way.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Yeah, okay, I mean we can let's just go. Let's
finish with the last of Us, the last of Us.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I'm looking forward to the to the season like it
is prestige television at a very high level. It's what
HBO does and has always done, and its Yeah, it
just so happens to be based on a couple of
video games that were also brilliant.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
So, I mean it's it's nice to finally set aside
all the U ball of it All and or whatever
his name was. He used to do all the video
game movies and get a good product based on a
(20:04):
medium that is all about storytelling.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Yeah, and that's the thing whenever you if you watch
the featurettes after the episodes. Uh, the creator of the show,
not the game. He Uh, the creator of the game
is also very highly involved involved in the in the show.
But Craig Mason cares like like whenever you hear him
(20:28):
talk about it because he's a like the creator of
the show and like, I think, the top producer of it.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
So he is Craig, Craig is the top guy. Craig's
like the executive Producer's just.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Got to hear him talk and like like with such
passionate about the about what he's making.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
But him and Neil Truckman. Neil Truckman is the the
studio head and the head of Creative Naught and Naughty
Dog is the video game company that develops The Last
of Us as well as just a ton of other
(21:09):
amazing games. Yeah series.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
I can't think of Naughty Dog without Crash Bandicoot.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Yeah, Crash Bandicoot Uncharted, and then obviously, like I said,
the Last of Us. But Neil Druckman is very involved
in it, and he and Craig actually write the majority
of the episodes. And Neil, who who had such a
hand in creating the world of The Last of Us
Parts one and two, has also okayed many changes where
(21:41):
he's like, hey, that's that's actually better than what we
did in the game. We should make this change.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
So like real, sometimes you have to you have to compromise,
like going because you don't you don't have the free Well.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
You're talking about a video game that takes upwards of
forty five to sixty hours depending on how much you
put into it, and translating that into seven eight hours
of television. Yeah, like you're you can't do everything, you
literally can't.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
I am happy that The Righteous Gemstones kind of got
like they they had The White Lotus come out during
the same time too, so they kind of get I'm
hoping that people who who got on on HBO two
or on Max to watch The White Lotus also saw hey,
let's watch the Righteous Gemstones and then now The Last
(22:37):
of Us they're getting the second half. So I'm hoping
people watching The Last of Us take a chance on
Jims because this last episode was I guess we are
getting two prelude episodes this year, yeah, which, yeah, this
was like I think this is my favorite prelude episode.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
I don't know that first episode of the season was
really good.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
No, I mean besides, I mean besides that one, that
one is like that one took its own beast, which
is phenomenal. I I don't love I like Bradley Cooper.
I don't love giving Bradley Cooper a ton of like
that kind of credit that he's like the reason why
that's so good because he wants it too bad. I
(23:20):
love him. He wants he wants it so bad though.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
He really wants an Oscar. That's all I say.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
I want it for him, but not in the way
that he wants it. I love him. I hope all
the best for him, because the thing is, he's really
good at what he does. You just need to find
a year, man, I mean Leo. Leo suffered with it
for so long. He just couldn't find the year. Uh
and The Revenant is far from his best performance, far
(23:48):
from it, but it was it was it was a
year that he could fit.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Before we talk about this week's episode of Jimstones, I
think it's important because obviously we didn't get to talk
last week. We have to talk about Baby Billy's teen.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Just. You can't you don't just like separate words like that,
like you can't just take the Jay from Jesus and
then the teens.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
It doesn't.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Words don't work that way. You got a green light teen?
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Just I don't even remember the TV series green lit
by the Jypstones, featuring a teenage Jesus.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Who's hip and cool man. Yeah, God, I love like
it's it's kind of a shame that like he like
Baby Billy doesn't get I guess it's it. It works
because we don't get too much Baby Billy, so we
don't we get just enough Baby Billy. Yeah, we could
(24:53):
use a little bit more. Actually, you know what, some
of the episodes where he does appear more, it just
like that makes it so much better.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
I just love that we live in a world where
Walton Goggins is all over HBO, all over everywhere.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
I do like Walton. I you know, man, I think
it happened during the pandemic or right before or maybe
right after. There was a show on CBS that I
really enjoyed. Yes, well yeah, yeah, like two or three seasons.
I love the cast, like Cordrey, Mikayla Watkins so like
(25:33):
it was such a good ensemble. Even the kids were
good on the show. But then, honestly, Walton got a
little too big for a CBS sitcom, Like he kind
of blew up like right then, yes, which good for him.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
I mean he Omar Miller was really good in that
show too.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Yes, thank you. I couldn't. I was trying to think.
I was trying to. Yeah, I loved him too. I
mean he he's a good just character actor too.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
He really is.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
But also, isn't he on a procedural or was he
on a procedural as well? I think he was.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
I mean he has to be write he was. He
was in the short lived True Lies show.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
I know that. Yeah, I did watch that. I watched
all of them. I watched Rush Hour he was.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
He was the voice of Raphael and Rise of the
Ninja Turtles, which was the Yeah, the inferior version of
Ninja Turtles.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
I had fron of them.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
I had two tens. No, no, no, there's nothing wrong
with it. I just enjoyed the like twenty fourteen Ninja
Turtles on Nickelodeon.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Oh yeah, I see, I never like that's something my kids.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Were growing up like that was Clark's favorite show growing up.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
I'm thirteen.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Now.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
That's the thing about Ninja Turtles. I like the fact
that almost every generation has their own Ninja Turtle. Same
thing with like Power Rangers they have they all have
their own different versions of Power Rangers.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
So omar, it's also in the movie Centers, which is
coming out Friday. Memory, Yeah, it comes out Friday, That's right.
I was actually which I will be going to see
because I'm super freaking excited for it.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
I was just listening. I'm only like half an hour
into it of Ryan Coogler's conversation with Mark Marron on
GTF so good. Didn't realize like everything that he had done,
Like like I said, I'm only like half an hour in.
But his his mom's assign language interpreter. His dad worked
(27:33):
with hardened youth and was on the softer side of it,
and but just incredibly intelligent. Didn't know like like like
his backup plan was doctor yeah, until like one of
his teachers told him you should write screenplays, and he
(27:55):
fell in love with it just because of like he
had to take one. He had to take a English
class at his liberal arts college where he went to played.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Football football Scramental State, but.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
They lost their program, yeah in two thousand and four.
Well not Sacramento State, Saint Mary's Mary's did, Yeah, And
because they lost, like he because he had to take
a liberal arts class, he fell in love with screenwriting
and now is like a a seminary that's seminal director
(28:29):
of this generation.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah, I mean he his his bachelor's is in finance,
I believe, and he didn't get into film until he
went and got his masters in in uh Cinematic Arts
from usc Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Like he's incredible.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
So he's a brilliant man.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
So I'm really looking. I like, I like everything involved
with this movie. I like Michael B. Jordan, I like
Ryan Coogler, I like Hailey Steinfeld. I like the rest
of the cast.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
And we get to Michael B. Jordan's in the Yeah, smooth.
Actually I didn't know that he plays twins. He plays
Smoke and Stack the twins.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
But and apparently, like the preferred way to see this
is an IMAX, So I'm gonna have to go over
to the Signal Butte location that has the IMAX, which
just means I'll get in and out afterwards.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
So we also get what for a movie.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
If I go over there, I get an in and
out double double animal style. Now, actually, you know, I
might try, like because my palates changed, and I don't
mind Onion. Now I don't like uncooked onion.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
No, No, definitely not.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Or raw.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
I knew what you were saying, but I don't.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Like raw onions, so I'm not sure if there their
animal style is I don't know if their onion is wrong. No,
it's cooked. Okay.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
We also get Delroy Lindo in uh So, who is
just a great character actor as well.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Yeah, he's been around forever ever. Love that guy. I mean,
like I sadly enough, I can't really name you a
role or anything like that, but it's just whenever, he's
just one of those guys who are like, oh, I
love that guy.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
He's been in a bunch of Spike Lee films, like
he was in Malcolm Acts. You know, he was in
The Cider House Rules and Get Shorty. He was really
funny and Get Shorty and he was gone in sixty seconds.
He was the detective who went after Nick Cage. Gone
in sixty seconds.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I think I owned that here.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
So yeah, that movie looks absolutely amazing. Uh And and
again like Ryan Coogler's his style, his vision for these movies.
Like hell, I loved Creed. I thought Creed was an
amazing film.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
It's like, especially like the boxings me like it's almost
like two movies because like whenever we get to that
boxing scene, it's completely different type of filmmaking.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Absolutely, but.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Like the rest of the movie itself is just a
he's a good storyteller. He's just a really good storyteller. Yeah,
he is, so that.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I mean, that looks stellar. That's coming out Friday. You know,
as far as movies are concerned, you know, that's probably
the biggest one coming out in the next month or so.
We do get Thunderbolts in May. Like switch Gears though
(31:41):
for just a second and talk about the fact that
the Minecraft movie made an additional eighty million dollars at
the box office this past week. I crossed half a
billion dollars worldwide.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
I saw it thoughts. Okay, do you know who Jared
Ness is? Yeah, he directed Napoleon Dynamite. He directed Nacho Leebra,
a lesser known movie called Gentleman Broncos Yes with I
(32:15):
believe I can't remember. That's Michael Angerano or another guy.
But also Sam Rockwell's and that Jennifer Coolidge. It's a
very weird, weird Jermaine Clement's in it. It's very weird.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Movie and Jamaine Clement is amazing. Just want to put
that out there.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
I'm gonna let me frame up.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Like White is also in that movie. By the way, yes,
let me.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Let me frame up a Minecraft movie for you a
little bit, because I think this is the best case scenario.
This movie hits two different demographics, especially if you like us,
like who grew up with Napoleon Dynamite. Where especially if
you were like around my I'm in my mid thirties year,
(33:02):
late thirties, early forties, early forties, some like I remember
when Napoleon Dynamite came out. I was at Young Life
Camp in Frontier Ranch, Colorado, a Christian week long camp,
and my friends and I were discussing Napoleon Dynamite because
(33:26):
it came out like a week before we left for camp,
which was the worst thing ever for anybody at that
camp because we didn't like nobody understood us, like like Tina,
eat your food at the lunch tables was had to
have been Anoxtrius. But there were also some people who
(33:48):
didn't get the movie. But I think a lot of
people came around to like that particular style of like
because if they ended up liking Nachobra, Nato Lee Bray
is not necessarily like a like it's structured, so it's
acted so weird, like everybody like nobody. It's like a
(34:11):
even a lower budget Wes Anderson. Like I would say
jared Ness is like those first three movies are like
low budget Wes Anderson. They're very stylized, They're very much
like you can look at a Jared Nest movie for
the most part, except for Minecraft and tell oh that
was a Jared Nest movie or Wes Anderson, that was
a Wes Anderson movie. Uh. But I feel like the
(34:34):
reason why I say this is the best case scenario
because I went to a nine to fifteen showing of
it PM and there were a bunch of teens, youths, youths.
There are a bunch of youths.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
And like the criminals from the statistics.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
I put that like in my review just because I
wanted to. I wanted to just to say youths. But
they laughed at so many different things that I didn't get,
didn't understand. Yeah, but whenever they got to like the
jaredy like that honestly, the dialogue in the movie, and
like especially whenever they're like in the real world, so
(35:18):
many of the jokes that were like sat in the
real world were so over their head. They didn't understand
the comedy, Like I could feel them just kind of
like I felt like these teens kind of grew watching
this movie. I'm how to watch a movie because I
feel like they need they They would cheer. They cheered
(35:42):
so much in this movie. Whenever there was a very
specific you could tell it was like a very specific
reference from the game, they would applaud. They would cheer,
and uh Like it wasn't like an audience I'd ever
really been with before, but it felt like they like
they needed to participate to enjoy the movie because they're
(36:04):
used to being on their phones and stuff. But throughout
the movie, I just kind of felt like they they
kind of grew up a little bit while watching the
movie on how to watch a movie because it was
a subject matter that they really understand and like, but
with a story built around it. Now it's still absurd
because it's it's Jared ness and and Jack Black working
(36:27):
together and they they do fun things and yeah, it's
it's not it's very off kilter, and Jason Momoa is
just they're screaming and yelling and acting like a a
like Jason, Yeah, like he like he's scared of everything,
and it's it's fun and then I'm not gonna spoil.
Like there's a scene that I was cracking up at
(36:50):
with uh with Jason Momoa and Jack Black where they
have to do something really weird and it's I was
laughing incredibly hard. But then there's I can't. I can't
say it to you because I don't like You're. You
have kids, You're I don't know if they they like minecraft,
(37:11):
but if they do, you're gonna see this movie.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
No we are, we are.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
There's a line that at a restaurant with Jennifer Coolidge
that if I had anything in my mouth, it would
have like it had no choice but to go out.
But yeah, it was. It was such a stupid funny
line that I loved it. I can't wait for you
(37:37):
to hear it because it's it's so stupid. It's not
even like like you're not It's not even like a
standout line. But it's just a very very funny line
to me.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
No, we we will be seeing it. All three of
the kids want to watch it, so but I liked it.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
I I think if you like a like a Napoleon dynamite,
you will like this. It's just it's a Jared Nest movie.
With with a budget, and I'm happy he got like
the keys to like a giant property.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Sure, absolutely no. I've heard a lot of people have
enjoyed it, so I'm actually looking forward to seeing it.
Speaking of Wes Anderson, though, we can jump over to
him debuting his new movie at cann this year. It's
called The Phoenician Scheme, starring Benicio del Toro, who I
(38:36):
am just a huge fan of I've been a fan
of his since I watched The Usual Suspects. He's just
a fantastic actor. But we get the other the other
folks that that we normally see. You know, Tom Hanks
is going to be in this film. Scarlett Johansson is
(38:57):
going to be in the film. I believe a dream
of Wes Anderson's is realized as Michael Sarah will now
be in a Wes Andersson because I think I think
he was. Michael Sarah may have actually been built in
a lab for this express moment, like like this is
(39:17):
the moment that Michael Starow was built for.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
We we know this because we know this. Sorry that
I got caught up on Kate McKinnon, doctor, We know this.
We know that. God damn, I can't get past it,
Jesus hollin blood Pressure. Sorry, we know this because of
(39:49):
the movie Youth in Revolt.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
Yes, which one thousand percent.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
So, yes, he was bred. He was made in a
fact three to eventually become the the.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Neck, the star of Wes anders films.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Yes, he is the new Bill Murray because Bill Murray
will fade away. I don't know. I don't want you
to do it.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Bill, Bill's just gonna go to tune Land. I believe
we've established this.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
I can't remember what Danny DeVito says after, but okay, yeah,
I haven't watched the trailer, but at least I mean
Benicio was my favorite part of Wes Anderson's last movie.
In fact, that portion of the movie made me cry.
I enjoyed it a lot, so I do look forward
to it. I think most Wes Anderson movies are the same,
(40:44):
just at a different setting.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
You're not wrong. I still enjoy them, but you're not wrong.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Yeah, it's and there will just be one truly off
the wall. Actually, no, I guess his last thing wasn't
His last thing was Astroid City, Bill, Astrooid Timmy. You
have I believe Margot Robbie and that scene was really beautiful.
And also the scene with what's his name? And he
just won the Oscar? What is his name?
Speaker 1 (41:15):
Adrian Brody?
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Adrian Brody, that scene was really great too. Both come too.
There was Jason Schwartzman. But sorry, I was talking about
The French Dispatch.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
French Dispatch.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
Yes, yeah, that that movie. A lot of not Timothy
shallow May and what's his and what's your name? Francine
Uh mcdono. That was a really good scene. But a
lot of nonsense in that movie. But Benicio del Toro
and and Lias Dedo was really great. Sorry, I'm a Ramblart.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Uh, it's okay. So I I enjoy Wes Anderson's view
on movies. I love his his cinematography. You're not wrong
in the fact that you know when you're watching a
Wes Anderson film. I mean there's no ifs answer buts
about it. A Wes Anderson film makes itself known very quickly.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
Yeah. I'm happy he has the budget to do all
the things that he wants to do.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
Yeah, and again we now get the culmination of Michael
Sarah being in a Wes Ederson film, which was meant
to be from the day Michael Sarah was born.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
And them, all of them eventually will become Criterion as well,
because he makes just a a criterion looking movie.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
He really does.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
He really does, or not they are criterion movies, that's
up to for debate.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
I think I think Rushmore is definitely a Criterion movie.
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Is the funniest.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
It's the delivery is so good. Schwartzman is perfect. He
is perfect in that word.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
I'll never have the opportunity to actually say that, but
let it be known I am that. That's the the
ultimate check of movie references for me is to say
that in like where it makes sense in yes, it is.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
The most perfect line delivery in the history of phil.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
These are actually are are scrubs? Oh? Are they?
Speaker 1 (43:22):
Are?
Speaker 2 (43:22):
They? It's my favorite line. Oh, I love it.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
The studio, the studio. The last couple of weeks have
been insane. I think, yes, I think they are. It
is the show that has been perfectly made for me
and you mainly may uh fuck you, but it was
so meta and it was just I was every single
(43:52):
thing that happened like it starts off with him saying
I'm single handily keeping the Medium alive. I going to
be blamed for single handedly destroying the medium, and it was.
It's the funniest, like it was made for me. It's
(44:12):
so good. But yeah, boom, there she is. Lots of
everyone around.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Was since I saw the very first episode, all I've
been thinking about is how much I want to kool
Aid movie now.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Easy. Brian Cranston doing this age shuffle I love? That
was Actually one of my favorite like little little things
in that episode is the fact that Brian Cranston knew.
Speaker 1 (44:45):
Exactly what it was. Yes, freaking Seth was like, what
the fuck is that?
Speaker 2 (44:52):
I'm not talking about my drinking problem?
Speaker 1 (44:53):
You are?
Speaker 2 (44:56):
He said, Hi, He's always nice no matter how much
Olivia grinds. Holy shit. That That's when I knew, Oh,
they're not fucking around on this episode. They're They're just
going to completely address the whole Olivia Coleman Harry Styles
saying yes right here, Ah, it was your future showing
(45:18):
who's directing this? Tarantino? Yeah, I wish, sorry, I I
this was you know what? Actually, I think last week's episode,
the note, oh, it was my favorite episode. The water
was so impressive, but.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
The note that we're bringing Ron Howard into It makes
my heart sing.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
That episode was I've watched it three times. That Anthony
Mackie part his executive assistant producer, just having just such
a great speech and then immediately cowering when she sees
Eddie Anthony Mackie. But then I love when Catherine O'Hara
(46:01):
uses her hair so much as a character. Yes, and
I love it when she swings it around at the
board meeting and it hits like the table. But whenever
she gets in Anthony's Mackie's face, you can tell, like,
oh shit, nobody, like people haven't like done this to
me in a while, because it's like a big star.
Nobody's like done this ship to me in a while.
(46:23):
But then he immediately gets involved in this situation. It
was like I've, like I said, I've watched that episode
three times. I've watched most of the episodes at least twice.
Speaker 1 (46:33):
But that is my I love that they're so fearful
to give the note to Ron Howard, and because of
because Seth gave him the worst note history for a
beautiful mind, that just led Ron Howard to mock the
ship out of him.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Which was like that entire scene is so good because
it's it's a full wonner and it's so like like
there's so many moving parts in that scene, that entire
scene until you get to like the actual stunt. Yes,
oh I love like that was nobody wanted to like
(47:14):
the note about his dead cousin. I hated it in
the script. I hate it when we shot it. I
hate it now. Yeah, sorry, but I love it's. The
Studio is my favorite show because it's literally every single
person who is jumping on the show, especially if they're
like a big name, if they're even playing themselves or
(47:36):
talking about the industry and the ship that they've heard. Yeah,
it's just inside baseball that I've wanted to baseball.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
It's so meta and and you know, you know that
there is so much truth to it as well, like
this shit has happened and will continue to happen in
this industry because it is what it is.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
That that was the hardest day. That was a nightmare.
Olivia hated everything we did except her cameo, which was
legit amazing, like really really good, like a ward worthy.
Uh uh it was She's tangled in Zach Effron's wicked web,
Like that's that's so hard to say.
Speaker 1 (48:28):
Seth Seth Rogan may be the.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Best person to make this show, working.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
Person in Hollywood in general, but the perfect person to
make this show. Like I I cannot about the industry,
especially now, I cannot think of another human being that
would do as great of a job.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Well, very few people have diversified like throughout Hollywood, like
like Seth has. Yes, Seth Seth got into the producer
like they hadn't directed anything for like thirteen years, Seth
and Evan, they had just been producing stuff and like
Seth and Seth had been acting and stuff, but he
hadn't directed anything in since the interview And because he was,
(49:17):
like I said, he also diversified, like he owns property.
He also owns he has a culture brand which is
house Plant, which has multiple branches, and he's just he helps.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
People production company.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
The Boys is partly is his fault, like somebody else
came to him, but he was like, yeah, let's go
to Amazon. Like he has so many Like he has
a show on Like he has multiple shows on Amazon.
They were on AMC with Preacher with Legion, now Apple
(49:53):
with I Mean and speaking of Apple, Platonic got a
second season season. Yeah, I gotta rewatch the first season,
which will be a blast because, like it's one of
my favorite little mini series. I thought it was over, I.
Speaker 1 (50:04):
Thought it was done. I'm so happy we're getting more
of it, though I wouldn't have been happy if we
all we got was what we got. But I'm very
excited to get a second.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Because I love like I I recently just watched like
the special features of Platonic season one, and it was
just like, yeah, that was part of the pitch, was
the fact that Rose and I have good chemistry, like
we work well together.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
And Rose Burne is so good.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
She's like she is such a dry comedy like her,
her comedy is evolved immensely, especially like she was the
straight man and Bridesmaids, but she was she also can
just she can be nuts and this show she's still
the straight man, but she has her moments of becoming nuts.
And then, like I said, I just love their chemistry.
(50:51):
It's like my favorite, Like they're one of my favorite pairings.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
No, she she's freaking hilarious. She was great Neighbors too,
like that movie, Yes is freaking hilarious.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
The first one's better than the second one, but the
second one they went a little, they went a little disgusting,
like yeah, well, I guess not disgusting. I can't say.
I'm not gonna say disgusting. They went a little It's like, hm,
they went a little Blue Problems to the extreme. Yeah,
which I guess is like that's the brand because I
guess in the first movie they went Guy problems to
(51:30):
the extreme. So maybe I'm a hypocritte. Ye, I'm the problem. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:36):
Anytime you can get Seth Zach Effron, Rose Byrne and
Dave Franco in the same place, I've gotta watch it.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
Yes, you know those four Yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:49):
This is another through line. Uh you know those films
were directed by Nick Stoler. Yeah, we've also gotten in
in the studio.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah. Sorry, I for some reason,
I had I had another I had Stephen Brill in
my head.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Oh gotcha.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
Yeah, not Nick Dollar. But I do like Nick Solar,
which was really funny on the show too. Uh. But yeah,
I'm excited for Platonic. I'm excited. Uh god, I'm gonna
be sad when the studio is over. Mythic Quest is over.
Sadly we are getting alternate.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
When you get side Quest.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
Well we are. I'm not sure if it's dropped or not,
but we are getting an alternate season finale.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Alternate season. Yeah, that that wraps it up as opposed
to a cliffhanger.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Yeah, so I'm excited for that. Jim Stones was great.
I'm I I love learning about like what's his name,
Mary Poppins, Michael Rooker. He got introduced into this season,
into finally into the season, and we finally got our
conflict confirmed. So I'm excited for the rest of this.
(53:02):
But I'm I'm like, my thing that I'm thinking about
right now as far as Jim Stones is what where's
the story going with Kelvin Because I feel like he's
the story of the adults right now, and with Stephen
Doorf being his like adversary and so like where he
(53:25):
was Jesse's adversary, but now like his target is on Kelvin,
and I'm worried about Kelvin. But we got a little bit,
like we found out a source of his trauma in
this past week's episode, yesterday's episode, So I'm just wondering
how they're going to resolve that because I guess, I mean, man, yeah,
(53:48):
I just sor I was going to backtrack like a
couple episodes, but that was just a couple of episodes ago.
We don't even go back to that. But yeah, Jimstones
is great. It's also said it's the last season two.
And then Nick, I want to talk about a couple
movies I watched, and we don't have to go look
to them very much. The documentary Not Just a goof
(54:10):
on Disney Plus highly suggests I grew up loving a
Goofy movie. It was one of my favorites growing up.
I like, I have a very specific memory for it,
and I can't really tell you why because I have
no I can't explain it either, because we're I associated
with a very specific wrestling meet I went to when
(54:32):
I went when I lived in Alaska, because one of
my teammates his parents had like a camper van, like
in the back of their truck. In retrospect, I have
no idea if they were living there, but they had
a they had a TVBCR in there, and I remember
watching a Goofy movie after I won my first match
(54:54):
that I'd ever won, and I had no other matches
that day because like the next match, I lost, so
I was out of the tournament. So I had hours
to kill. So me and my sisters and a couple
of friends went to this camper van and watched a
goofy movie while playing so many games of candy Land.
(55:14):
So I associate this with a very happy memory and
not just a goofy. I figured everybody loved this movie.
I feel like I felt like everybody held this movie
in pretty high regard, and I think, like, I think
the movie proves that everybody did. It's just Disney and
the creators didn't. They had no idea what kind of
(55:38):
impact this movie had. And it's legit like a really
good father son story too, So it's a good story.
And people were just upset because it wasn't Goofy being Goofy.
It was Goofy being a dad. But highly suggests not
just a goof Have you did you watch it?
Speaker 1 (55:56):
I have, and I'm waiting for that power Line world tour.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
The choreography section, whenever they were doing the reference that
was just like that was like I was glued watching that,
like the actual power like the choreographer doing power line
and even the background dancers, like everything was like I
recognized it because I knew the movie by heart, so
(56:23):
so I love not just a goof there's a movie
on I believe it's on HBO right now or Max
Sorry Your Monsters starring Melissa Barrera. H I liked it.
It's let me comp for this for you, it's almost like, uh,
(56:45):
drop dead Fred. It's almost like think of drop dead
bread if you if you just got out of a
really toxic relationship and you're kind of imaginary friend gets
a little romantic, but because it's yourself, think of it
more that way. It's not it's it's not an imaginary friend.
(57:09):
It's it's what your manifestation of imaginary friend, but it's yourself.
But it's maybe that's giving a little too much away,
but I liked it. It was it was good. The
guy who plays the monster is actually like the movie
really hinges on him being as good as he is
at the very beginning of the movie and for Melissa
(57:30):
to to knock it out of the park at the end,
and I feel like they did a really good job
so suggest you're a monster. And then I'm not sure
if I talked about this on the mini, but I
saw a drop at the theater and it's directed by
Christopher Landon Big Fan of him. He did Happy Death Day,
Happy Death Day to You, he did Freaky, he wrote
(57:50):
Hard Eyes, so I'm a big fan of him. Drop
really good. It's it's a thrill ride of a movie
just set in a restaurant, so it's it's really good.
I suspense like, like there are parts of the movie
where I didn't know my heart was racing until it
started to come down, So oh wow. Yeah, Like it's
(58:12):
not like suspenseful suspensable like that, but it's just like
I didn't, like, I felt myself. Oh I that was stressful.
So so I guess that's a compliment to the movie.
But big suggesting, Drop, if you ever get a chance
to and Nick, last thing, Is there anything you wanted
(58:33):
to bring up? Nope, because we gotta like, I don't know,
do you have time? Yeah, okay, we gotta talk about wwe.
Speaker 1 (58:42):
Absolutely we do.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
They got to get our predictions in, Nick, I want
to talk about a couple of things. Tiffany and Charlotte
is heating up like they I was less Yeah, I
was less interested in this feud at first, just because
it was just Charlotte just coming back uh and just
(59:04):
claiming a WrestleMania spot, which not cool. But she she
has earned it. I'm not saying she hasn't, but it's
a different world now you get like get get it
in a mid card like elevate Chelsea Green. You could
have done that.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
So I'm but I am looking forward to this match
because they I left tiff as a as a wrestler.
I think she's a brawler.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
And Charlotte is the most talented wrestler almost regardless of gender,
And so I'm excited about that. Randy versus who who's
he going up against?
Speaker 1 (59:46):
You know, we're supposed to find out tonight, Like it's
going on right now. It's probably over now. We were
supposed to find out tonight.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
So do you have any spoil.
Speaker 1 (59:56):
Have you been watching this whole time? No?
Speaker 2 (59:59):
I can search it right out. Do you want me to?
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
Because yeah, let's let's do it. Let's let's spoil it
for me.
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
Because I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
I'm looking at the card right now and I'm not
seeing any Randy Orton on the card.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Yeah, I don't see anything.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
I think he's gonna go against Solo. I think Solo
deserves a spot in the WrestleMania. I think he he
tried to carry the company for a while. After Roman,
he tried to carry smack Down. I think he deserves
a spot on the card.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
I agree, I agree.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Uh, where's Phoenix in depth?
Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
I think we see him at Mania. Uh if we
don't see him on SmackDown.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
First, well, I mean he's he's had two matches so far.
Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
No, I mean like, I mean, like see his true
colors kind of.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
Yeah, I mean, well, I think it's maybe it's gonna
be uh. Actually, you know what, maybe he doesn't end
up on the card. Maybe he.
Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
He he could intervene in the rain mystereo El Grande Americano.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Because against Ray. I think the thing is I'll get
to I'll get to it. Uh what's it called? Yeah,
you could be right there. It's actually I was not
thinking that, but I'm happy, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
Or or we could see him night two in the
bron Breaker versus Penta versus Finn versus Dominic mister, that's.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
What I was thinking. I was thinking he would take
Pindus to the ring. I thought that they Lucher Bros.
Would would see I disagree.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
What I think happens is instead of because you know,
a few weeks ago, dom went to Pinta and asked
him to join the Judgment Day. Yeah, I think Ray
Phoenix sides with Dom fins out of Judgment Day. Ray
Phoenix is in Judgment Day.
Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
Interesting. That's something I hadn't even kind of thought of.
I had Dom winning.
Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
Yeah, No, Dom wins Gold. Dom wins Gold on Saturday
or on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
Excuse me, Yeah, let's go down the Saturday card. Okay.
Do you want to go top down or.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Yeah, let's go top down?
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
In fact, I'd like to wait to talk about what
I truly believe is the Mania main event, regardless of
it being on Saturday. I'd like to leave the final
match of Sunday or Saturday to talk about that last.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
The final match of Saturday and talk about that last.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Yeah, talk about that last. But let's go through the
rest of Saturday.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
I guess they do need to in Night one on
a Bang, don't they? Yeah? They do? Okay, all right,
Tiffany versus Charlie. Like I said, I'm excited for it.
Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
I think very excited.
Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
I think tiff wins do too.
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
I I you know, you bring Charlotte back, you have
her win the rumble, immediate heat, all all all signs
would point to Charlotte winning this, but I don't. I
don't think she does.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
I think.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
I think TIFF's just too big right right now?
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
Yeah, I don't think you. The thing is Netflix is
in on this, so they probably you have to factor
that in. I also think I think Tiff is the
right answer. Yeah, I think I think that's what they're
gonna go with because I they might want that heat,
(01:03:41):
though they might they might want that heat on Charlotte
because Charlotte, she might have hated it last Friday or
the friday before, but no, like she could thrive in that,
Like she could find a way to work around that,
like that domble heat. Sure, because I think she's actually
(01:04:03):
she's reached dom level heat. I think, yeah, No, I agree,
I agree, And in the modern era, I think dom
level heat is like the barometer right now, it's the
best kind of heat. Yeah. Well, it was good, especially
for him because you knew, like, man, how did he
get this? But with Charlotte, you're like, this is a
(01:04:24):
little bit more organic.
Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
Yeah, but yeah, I think Tiff, I think like it
could change. It all depends on on Netflix.
Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
But I Tiff walks out the champion.
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
All right, what about Gunther versus Jay. I feel like
this feels too predictable.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
It's too predictable. Jay is gonna win this.
Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
It feels super predictable.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
But I think it's two predicted. Ja. Jay's got the
got the other side of the heat on him. Like,
I don't see a a way Gunther comes out of
this with the championship.
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Still unless Jimmy interferes possible. He's been part of the
storyline the whole time, uh, the last three weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
I'm gonna I'm gonna go with my gut though, and say, Jay,
so is your new world heavyweight champion after after Mania?
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Man? I yeah, I think I have to keep it
a Jay. Uh all right. L A Knight versus Jacob Fattoo.
Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
I think you gotta give Jacob. I think you got
to give Jacob the gold. L A.
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
Knight's hot right now a Night Yeah. Yeah, I mean
eveny Orton did it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
But I gotta tell you, man, the the the pops
that Jacob Futu has been getting I know, to the
ring is outstanding.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Yeah, but then you also have to think of who
takes it off of him.
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
Yeah. This guy, I mean, Jacob fuck is just a
superstar in the making. Oh yeah, I know he could
do anything in the ring.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
I got it Oba, Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
That would be good.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Yeah, I mean Oba Femi's a hell of a worker too, Yeah,
hell of Like he's a he's a big boy, but
he's a hell of a worker. He's he's I said
it a couple of weeks ago, like or months ago.
I'm happy that dude found wrestling. Yes, he is talented,
very talented. I can't like. Also, there's another wrestler who
(01:06:29):
could be debuting after wrestlers, A couple of wrestlers who
could be debuting. We can get to them later. Else
for Black, Yeah, russev and Jake Cobb.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
But yeah, I think Jacob walks out as your United
States Champion.
Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
We got Jade versus Naomi.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
I think Jade destroys Naomi.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
I think Naomi. I think Naomi because I think Naomi
needs it more than Ja And if you're not wrong,
and I think it'll develop that character. I mean, the
thing is you want Jade to be to lose it WrestleMania,
that's the question. Uh, because she's not gonna have a
(01:07:14):
ton of matches at WrestleMania in total, Well, you've.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Got to also work for the Jade Versus Bianca storyline,
because that's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Yeah, but I I like, I like elevating somebody's heat,
like because Naomi got good heat from that, oh very good.
Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
And I love elevating heat. So I have Naomi winning
you have.
Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
I could see it going either way honestly, but I'm
gonna pick Jade. I think it's a smart's a smart
answer for time to shine. Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
And I love Naomi too. I like Jaye too, but
I've known about I've known Naomi longer. We have Ray
Mysterio versus Americano. That's gonna be the weirdest footnote in
WrestleMania history is who was Americano? I feel bad for
(01:08:09):
Chad Gable because I.
Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
Feel so bad for Chad, like he deserves so much better.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
He's been shorty g before.
Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
Yes, I mean, I will say this. The production value
of the bits for El Grande Americano, like.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
The well, I didn't like the AI that they used.
Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
It's it's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
It drew heat, it drew like it was exactly what
it was for it was.
Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Yeah, I mean I gotta go with my man Ray here.
I'm gonna go with w W E Hall of Famer
Rape Mysterio. It's only right that I would have Ray
Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero's son, Dominic Mysterio winning in the
same weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
I can't have it. I can't have it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
We got the war Raiders versus the New Day.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
This this like. I love the war Raiders. They're fun
to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
This is gonna be a banger though.
Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
But this is going to be a banger of a
match for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
But New Day takes it. Yeah, I agree, because I
mean it makes more sense. It makes more sense.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
And then you've got to you've got to build on
the storyline. Like the smartest thing that they've done that
the w W. He's done with with KOFE and Xavior.
But you know what you see Biggie. I think you
see Biggie in this match.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
I don't. I think I think you just give up
on Biggie. It's fine, I know you got to give
it up on Biggie. It's not like giving up on Biggie.
It's just let him go. Yeah, he's the heart of
the ocean man, let him go. No, I think after
(01:09:48):
this match, you know what music hits what Hardy Boys
because they're not part of w w.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
E, but they have that partnership.
Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
I think you hear. I can't do the music. I
think you hear the Hardy Boys music. I think you do.
And it's gonna be the biggest pop of the night.
Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Yeah, absolutely would be, because we can.
Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
Talk about like the main event of that night later,
the biggest pop of the night, and it's gonna boost
their ego like but and almost convince them to keep going.
But they need to retire. Ye, yes, but it will
be the biggest pop of the night. Maybe the other one,
uh that We'll get to you later. But I'm gonna
(01:10:33):
go with New Day.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
You have to go with New Day. Yeah, okay, all right,
let's go to night two. Let's go to Sunday to
twentieth Easter.
Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
Oh I didn't, I didn't put a confirmation. I also
have Jacob Fattu for okay, okay.
Speaker 1 (01:10:47):
On wax Live, Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez versus Bailey and
Lyra is Lyra going to be double gold.
Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
I gotta think story here. I gotta think story, yeah,
because honestly live in Raquel don't need they don't need it.
But and also they're already gonna have They're gonna replace
gold because Dom is gonna win. We can get in
a second, they're gonna replace gold. Judgment Day almost always
has gold, so they can replace it with Dom. And
(01:11:27):
since Finn will be out as you mentioned earlier, uh,
they'll also have the celebration of having Ray Phoenix. So
I think them losing the gold ah at wrestlemand it
to Bailey and Lyra. Bailey loves working in the tag division.
(01:11:48):
She does so, and she's the inaugural Tag champion, uh,
so she loves working in it. I would rather see
Bailey versus Lyra because I think they had a great match.
Speaker 1 (01:12:02):
They did the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
Like I said, I think last week. I always underestimate.
I've underestimated Lyra since she came, like came to WWE
even the next d I like, I'm just never on paper,
not really that impressed with her. But man, she can work.
Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
She's a very hard worker. She's great in the ring.
I love watching her wrestler. I am. I do also
believe that Bailey and Lyra are going to win and
Lyra has double gold at the end of the night.
The next match, aj styles the phenom versus Logan Paul.
(01:12:41):
I gotta go with the phenom on this. I I
cannot in good conscience pick Paul, even though subtly in
the back of my mind I know that Logan Paul
is probably gonna win.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Yeah he is.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
He is.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
The thing is the reason why is it going to
be a great match is because Logan Paul has all
this heat. I hate him, Everybody hates him, nobody really
likes him. But maybe he's done his job and AJ
is really really good. I feel like he doesn't care
about Logan anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
AJ doesn't need the win. Logan does need the win, and.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
AJ will put on a five star classic because he
has somebody who's athletic as Logan. It's gonna be the
like the worst moment of Sunday. So maybe smoke a
joint or something during that moment, or maybe I've got
some mushrooms if you want to come over. Yeah, we
(01:13:41):
can enjoy that match somehow. Uh. I know I'm gonna
stand up and put my hands on my head at
least two times during that match to three times. Scare
my dogs. It's fine. Yeah, but yeah, Logan Paul's gonna
Logan Poul.
Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
We both got logan, Okay, I probably the match that
I'm looking forward to the most on Night two, broad
Breaker versus Penta versus Finn Balor versus Dominic Mysterio, the
fatal four way for the w w E Intercontinental title.
I'll tell you why I love a fatal four way.
(01:14:19):
I'm also very excited for this because nothing has gotten
me out of my seat as much as that Bron
breaker spear to Carlito last week.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
I'm happy everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Had I thought Carlito died.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
He made a post like they need to sell that
so hard. He needs he needs to be in a
wheelchair with a with a half shirt but like his
his midsection wrap so we could see it. He needs
to ill this for weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
Yes, the most devastating spears.
Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
I don't know how it happens.
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
You know how it worked.
Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
I don't know how either survived.
Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
And Bron just jumped back up and was like ro
I'm like, oh my god, Cardo's dead.
Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
And then dom who is one of my favorite wrestlers,
and then Finn, who was like one of my favorite wrestlers.
I can't and I like Penta, I haven't known him
very long.
Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
I think just works harder than everybody else in that ring.
Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
I'm I'm so happy this isn't a ladder match that
I know of, because I can't watch that. I know
some people die. I almost had a heart attack during
the Durn Kevin match, even though I knew some of
those were safety safety ladders.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
That was I is. It was difficult to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
Yeah, I remember at the very beginning of the match,
I was like, this is going to be known as
the little ladder match. Uh, and then the tone changed
dramatically dramatic death match. Ye, yeah, I have Dom winning.
I had a different reason. I thought Dom was gonna
turn on fan. I didn't expect your your way. I
(01:16:22):
do like your way quite a bit. Uh. Changed, it
would be changed my process.
Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
It would be interesting storytelling, and that's what wrestling should be,
interesting storytelling.
Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
Yeah, we got bron Breakers and we got h Sky.
Speaker 1 (01:16:39):
Well, no, we got the Damian Priest Drew McIntyre Since
City Street Fight, which takes the place of the Ko
Randy Orton match.
Speaker 2 (01:16:48):
Okay, was that gonna history? Oh yeah, I guess it's
gonna be his.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
Street fight as well. Uh, I have I have Drew
McIntyre winning this same here, I think he needs to win.
I think he needs the win.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
I think Priest is the perfect person to do it,
because Priests is a was a great champion, great wrestler.
I think they had such a I mean it's organically
from last WrestleMania. This is probably the most organic.
Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
Match, and it's the last minute match, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Yeah, but it is legitimately the the most organic match
on the entire car.
Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
Well maybe maybe minus the main event on Sunday or
on Saturday that I think that might actually never thought.
Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
I never thought that was gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (01:17:40):
Oh, okay, okay, so we both had Drew McIntyre though, yeah,
I have Drew okay. Uh. Eo Sky, your Women's World
Champion versus Bianca Bell bell Air and Rhea Ripley in
a triple threat match.
Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
I can't wait for this match. I think it's going
to be a banger. I think there's gonna be some
stumbles that because is I don't know why. Something tells
me that I don't know. I don't want to jinx it.
Sorry I just did. But I love all three of
these people.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
I have Eo winning, I have Bianca winning.
Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
I think that makes the most sense because Beanca is
a great champion, but because EO has been just this
background character to these other two this entire time, I
think she's gonna show out.
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
I would love EO to walk out with the championship.
Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
So yeah, that's why I have EO, just because of
how how it's been presented. If they go with Bianca
or Ria, I think that's a true like a slap
to EO because she's been slapped in the face like
the last three weeks by Bianca and and Rio. So
I think Leo. I think because of what the past
(01:19:03):
between Bianca and Rhea, they're going to cancel each other out.
Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
Yeah, I ight see that. Uh Cody versus John Cena.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
It's it's gonna be an interesting, interesting match.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
We're obviously gonna get some bullshit from Dwayne.
Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
It's gonna I mean, we're gonna be thirteen minutes now.
It's only going to extend the match by thirteen minutes.
That match is gonna go from like thirty one minutes
to forty seven because you know, Uh, Cody can take
it all. Cody's an iron man.
Speaker 1 (01:19:49):
Yeah, and and guy wrestled with a torn fucking pack.
Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
And Dwayne is a ham yep. But the thing is
Dwayne also known understands his character. That's the thing that
I hate about it the most. He understands. Yeah, doesn't
make me like it anymore. Nope, So.
Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
Got winning this one though.
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
I've seen him, man seen it has to win. I
don't think there's any choice.
Speaker 1 (01:20:21):
I think you're probably right. Unfortunately, I don't think there's
a single I don't think there's a single choice. I
think I think you have to you've built it up
this much. Yea, what do you do with the rest
of the John Cena retirement tour? If he loses, like
you've wasted half a year.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
If he doesn't win.
Speaker 2 (01:20:41):
It's it's gonna be an interesting close to WrestleMania all
together and start the new season. He has to show
up at Raw. Yeah, even though he's not gonna be
a Raw champion, he has to show up at Raw.
It's that's going to be an interesting Raw after WrestleMania.
(01:21:03):
You know what should happen brought him up earlier? Russef
ooh you debut russef as as seen as doing his
victory lap. Okay, we're also gonna get alist for Black
and actually he'll probably show up on SmackDown.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
And then.
Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
Jacob Cobb or I think I have the right name,
it's the right last name. I will probably show up
at the end of the show because Dwayne recently got
him out of his new Japan contract.
Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
New Japan contract. Yeah, so so we both have Sina winning.
Then we go to in my opinion, the main event
of the whole fucking weekend, Tribal Chief versus the Second
City Saint versus the Visionary Rains, Punk Rollins triple Threat
(01:22:02):
to end Night one with Paul Hayman in seeing Punk's corner.
This match is going to be a banger period.
Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
Yeah, I think they. I think Roman and Seth are
going to really dictate the pace of this match. I
think they're gonna like really kind of beat each other up.
I think Punk is going to get in his shots,
but I think this match is going to be run
by by Seth. I think Roman is going to show
(01:22:41):
some true dominance is seen as not seeing it. Punk
is going to take some really bad licks. It's a
triple threat, so there's no disqualification. Tables are going to
be done. I hope not a toolbox, but I do
(01:23:01):
expect chains. I'm gonna that's prediction. I'm gonna I'm gonna
say chains because it's a big dog, because he called
him it recently, So I yeah, I think uh. I
think Punk takes it myself. I guessed a couple of
weeks ago that his favor would have been that Hiccolao
debuted and uh and took out Roman. Uh. Not thinking
(01:23:27):
that now, But I I don't know. Is there any
interference in this match besides Paul Haman there.
Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
I was getting ready to bring it up because you
brought up the New Japan Wrestling a little bit ago. Yeah,
there is a wrestler with ties to this storyline that
is not only an ae W wrestler, but it's also
(01:23:57):
contracted with New Japan Wrestling currently. SETH came out in
what I can only describe as shield attire.
Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
This evening a happening, A happening, never gonna happen. Don't
just stop it. It ain't gonna happen. If it happens,
slap bet.
Speaker 1 (01:24:26):
I'm not saying it's going to happen. I'm not gonna.
I'm not saying it's gonna happen. But Triple H has
pulled some fucking ship.
Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
This drm you ain't pulling this string.
Speaker 1 (01:24:39):
How amazing would it be to see the return of
Dean Ambrose.
Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
He wouldn't be you want to be known as Dean Ambrose.
Speaker 1 (01:24:50):
I mean, I'm just saying, like, if you want to
bring the fucking house down on night one, that's how.
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
You do it. Yeah, but then you waste it by
Rollin's not winning. Sorry, I'm sorry to burst your bubble.
It ain't had. That's a great fantasy as some true
fantasy booking.
Speaker 1 (01:25:16):
Uh, I'm just connecting dots through.
Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
That's like playing with he Man with uh what's not
he Man?
Speaker 1 (01:25:24):
Uh? Power Rangers?
Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
Maybe, Yeah, they don't. They don't exist in the same world.
It's kind of like previously the X Men and and
and Marvel didn't exist. Spider Man before Tom Holland didn't exist.
They don't acknowledge that. They do acknowledge each other, just
in in caddy ways.
Speaker 1 (01:25:48):
I just think it would be It would be great,
an interesting way to end the night.
Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
It would be great, and you know it would be
even better. Let's let's let's add another cherry to this,
to this, to the Sunday. How about let's bring out
a J. Mendez. You know what, Let's say I got
another thing, Renee Piquette. Uh, let's just keep adding toppings
stuff that's gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:26:12):
And then Andre the Giant comes out.
Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
I ain't gonna happen, No, but I appreciate your.
Speaker 1 (01:26:19):
Fancy not But again, if you're gonna bring the house down,
you do it the right way. And I don't know
if there would be a better way to do it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
It's it's all just it's gonna be gonna look in
my eyes. What if the crowd's gonna go insane? That's
all you need. That's all you need. But I don't
think I can't think of a single person who could
fit into an interference right now. I'm sure there's somebody
obvious I'm missing.
Speaker 1 (01:26:52):
I mean, Roman doesn't have anyone in his corner right now.
Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
No, I don't think Jay. I think Jimmy is preoccupied
with Jay. Jimmy he obviously could work with that. You
have Solo, who I hope gets a match with Randy Orton,
which will also put Tomatonga over there, which I hope
he's on the card, to get him on the card,
even though he's insane.
Speaker 1 (01:27:19):
But I think nobody's gonna come to Punks.
Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
No, because he's on the next night, and Drew hates
Punk more than anybody except for maybe Rollins Seth. I
can't think of anybody who organically interferes in this match
unless they d be someone new. So yeah, I think
(01:27:44):
I think they just let us have it. I think
they just let let us have this triple threat with
Paul Hayman. I think he's the only added added person. Yeah,
and he's technically part of three people's thank you Gus
with Seth not stomping him the other day. I don't
know how far they're going to take that, but yeah, interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
All right, Nick, it's gonna look good.
Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
All Right, we've got un locked in.
Speaker 1 (01:28:11):
You have Punk, I have Seth.
Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
Oh, you have Seth.
Speaker 1 (01:28:16):
Okay, I've Seth.
