Speaker 1 (00:18):
Welcome back to what the podcast exclusively for people who
realize that it's all about the one point jigawats where
your host is always I'm Nick.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
And I'm the poopil Andrew Zaldi, also known as Andresie,
who is desperately trying to pull up his iMovie to
delete last week's episode so we don't lose this week's
episode as we start recording it. How you doing, I'm good.
How are you?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
I'm doing well? Did you actually you got the reference
this time?
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Right? Yeah? Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I tried to make it as simple as possible for you.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I think that one's the simplest one that you could
possibly do. But yes, thank you. I do appreciate it
because a lot of your stuff. I don't know how
you and I have been watching the same things. Yeah,
together and separately for a lot of years, so many years,
almost half my life now, Yeah, carry you, man.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I'm doing great. I'm little. I'm tired, but good good.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
I am also very tired. I don't know why. I Well,
I sleep six hours a night and that's about it.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
So dude, if I if I sleep more than that,
I'm more tired when I wake up.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
My body just like wakes me up after six hours,
So I like because I don't have to wake up
until like seven, seven ten on most days. My body
just like I if I go to bed at one,
that's fine because my body will wake me up right
at six and right at seven. Or if I go
(01:50):
to bed at like midnight, I'll still wake up at
like six, So it doesn't really matter for me. It's
six hours and my body just like wake up.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
What I got through?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, it's it's it's it's a great time. But I
don't know I've been I feel like I've been in
a good mood this week. Though, I feel like I
like in a good mood that feels somewhat genuine. I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
That's a good thing.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, it's it's been very nice. I I haven't been
to the theater a lot. I say that I've been
technically twice, but I saw three movies. I did see
Nobody too. Do you want to go into that real quick?
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, let's hear about it.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Just keep making them. Yeah, that's all I gotta say.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
It's Bob Odenkirk so damn good as a human being,
as a comedian, as an actor, just so damn star
an action star.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Now, yes, okay, it's not as good as the first movie,
but you know what, it doesn't need to be because
it's it's literally just we just need to get this
guy in a situation where people are just gonna, like
for unreasonably, going to be coming after him, and he's
(03:11):
it's going to be creative.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Yeah, He's going to creatively be able to beat the
shit out of them.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
And that's exactly what this movie is. And honestly, I
think the best family and I've never watched a Fast
and Furious movie except for Tokyo Drift.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Well, it is all about family in those movies.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
I think the best family in movies right now is
Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen. I love Connie, the Riza and
Christopher Lloyd. They're the perfect family.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
As long as any Nobody movie comes out in the future,
as long as the Riza is in it, I'm going.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
To seem to see it.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, it's he lives out his dream in this movie.
He does like I think he's like, hey, guys, can
I just do one thing. They're like, yeah, you don't
have to put this in the movie. They're like, we're
gonna put it in the movie. I'm gonna talk directly
to camera. We're gonna keep it in the cut. I
(04:15):
just need this for myself. Don't worry, it's gonna be
for everybody else too.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
It's going to be in the movie.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
RESI Christopher Lloyd's fun. But you know what, the Family
is a lot of fun. What they could do with
the future of the family is very interesting as well,
because if this movie, I hope it's successful because honestly,
keep making these movies. They're fun.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
I mean, we get new John Wicks stuff all the time.
I don't see why we can't get new Nobody's stuff
all the time. I mean. Odin Kirk is responsible for
one of the most badass moments in movies over the
last five to ten years from the original Nobody when
he's on that b yeah and they're like, what do
you doing, old man, and he just he takes out
(05:04):
the gun and he dumps all the bullets and he goes,
I'm gonna kick your ass.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
It's it's exact. Also, he like my favorite part of
the first movie because I watched it right before I
went to the first The second one, uh is he
gets thrown out of the bus at one point and
has to knife his way back in. Yes, to the
dismay of everybody else.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
On that Yes, that movie gets.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Incredibly brutal too, and and the bad guy is so
like he's legitimately fun because he like he's having fun.
And then he shows you bits of brutality.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
And then Bob, like an ogre and an onion, he
has layers.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Bob Odenkirk comes in and completely ruins this guy's entire life.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
But he the scene in the first movie where he's
sitting at that club and he's eating the steak and
he's got the freaking clay yeah at him, Like that's
just so good. It's just so like seeing them talk
to each other and play off each other is is
one of the best scenes in the movie.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
And how he takes out like the bad guy with
the with the claymore at the very end, it's just like,
thank god this movie exists, man, because that because they're
like everybody's out of bullets except for except for him,
except for the bad guy, and he just runs at
him with a ballistic shield with a sea for like
(06:35):
landmine attached to it and just blows both of them
up and it's art. It's it kind of reminds me
a little bit of like the some of the the
chore stunt choreography and ballerina arena. Feels like it took
a little different like it seems like the same blood
of like stunt coordinators.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Sure, sure, well, I think I think everybody learned quite
a bit from the first couple of John Wick movies
when it came to stunt choreography.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, we've got a lot of really stunt American stunt
driven movies. L Yeah, the last eight years.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
It wasn't a great movie, but but look at Love
Hurts with Ki Kwan, you know, like they're that stunt
choreography is very much in the same vein as well. Yeah,
so I think again, I think movie makers have learned
quite a bit from the likes of John Wick and
Nobody and and that's you know, there's a big driving
(07:32):
force from American filmmakers who were like grew up with
the kind of uh Ratte and Konkie Chan movies, Jackie
Chan movies. Yeah, somehow with Jackie Jackie Chan.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Jackie Chan showed up somehow on my algorithm, and I
was like, he's probably the greatest entertainer like in recorded history.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Probably absolutely. He has so so much range. He could
kick your ass and make you laugh in.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
The same Yeah, it's he is Jackie chan is one
of the greatest entertainers of all time, and like, I
always bring him up because he's like, my favorite current
stunt man is Gee de Silva and he he models
a lot of his stuff off of And uh, it's
I think he's on a show. Now I think you
(08:21):
actually know. I think he I think he was at
the SummerSlam WWE tryouts. Oh okay, so that'll be interesting.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
That could be interesting.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Because I'm a big, big fan of g de Silva.
He's he's also the the stuntman and the black Panther costume.
At least he was for.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
He was for Chadwick.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah. Yeah, so that's what most people would probably know
him from.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
What else did you watch this last week?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I Oh, I got to see shin Godzilla in four
K at the Fier.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Am so incredibly jealous of you.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
It's I there's only one way to truly like one
movie to to like kind of compare it to is
Apollo thirteen. It's such a science in the process driven
movie and like the action. Yeah, the action is incredibly exciting.
It's very It's like really one of one because the
(09:25):
way Godzilla continues to evolve during the movie, because he
looks incredibly goofy, but he's still like terrifying because he's
this giant beast. But as he continues to evolve, he
just becomes like you notice that he's just this constantly
evolving being in constant pain and like he's just reacting
(09:49):
like an animal confused and unsure of what's happening. So
obviously that's the same thing. It's not oxymore, but the
entire scientific process of the Japanese government having to jump
through so many little holes, and that you follow this
one team who are just like dead sit on conquering this.
(10:14):
It's just it's an inspiring movie. It really is, like
the science in that movie is inspiring. The way that
Apalla thirteen.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Is well and I think both you and I are
in the camp that shin Godzilla and probably Godzilla Minus
One are two of the best Godzilla movies in not
only recent history, but maybe history of all time.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
I mean, like.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Those two films are so diametrically in opposition of what
the New Monster Universe is from legendary with the Godzilla
films like these, these are pieces that are character driven,
(11:02):
that are not just about the monster but about the
people around the monster, and it's just it's amazing to
see those movies getting their due.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Yeah, I mean I was talking about it because like obviously, yeah,
you mentioned the legendary. We have two different, completely different
halves of Godzilla right now. You have Popcorn and you
have what Japan is doing. Yes, that would be correct,
which are cinema and to use a Martin SCORSESEI term,
(11:41):
which I disagree with. I'm just using it just as
like as a reference. The legendary while starting off really
great with Godzilla and so have turned into roller coasters.
I mean, you're Kyle Chandler was in the has been
in the Universe. Do you remember Vera for Mega? Do
(12:03):
you remember Sally Hawkins was, well, yeah, I got I
got more for you.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Billy Bobby Brown, Billy.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Bobby Brown, Uh, Jillian Dennison, Uh, Brian Tyree Henry who else?
There's one person I'm trying to think of.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
You're missing my favorite character?
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Well, Ken Watson abe, yes, Bradley Woodford, Osha Jackson Junior. Yeah, yeah,
Bradley Whitford. Uh, there are so many people I've forgotten
have been in the legend.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
But Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Well they're they're adjacent that it.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Is the same exact universe. It's built in. It's all
I'm saying. Now. What I will say is that that's
taken more seriously that.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Yes, the the TV.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Series on Apple Plus totally different, Monster Pun intended.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Another season coming soon. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
I mean that that that is fantastic, and that is grounded,
and that is character focused, whereas in you know, you
saw it kind of coming with King of Monsters. Although
I thoroughly enjoy and love that movie, it was it
was built for spectacle.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
For sure, and they killed Sally Hawkins for no doubt,
for no damn reason.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
But once we got past that, once we got into
Godzilla X Kong and New Empire like that, just the
ship had sailed on on being a cohesive, yeah, being coches. Yeah,
whereas in again shin Godzilla.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Yeah, what's his name?
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Listen, I'll put twenty fourteen's Godzilla up against just about
any of them. It is a brilliant piece of filmmaking.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, Bran Cranston.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Frank Cranston. But but Shin Godzilla and Godzilla Minus one
are just absolute toward a force of of cinema.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Like you said, I think Minus one is the better movie,
but I think Shin Godzilla is my favorite one.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
That's that's fair.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
That's fair. But they're both like nine or tens out
of ten. Yeah, they're both that Shin Godzilla. Just like
I tweeted right before going into the movie, I was like, let's.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Never Yeah, the copiers have never looked so good.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
That's set up those offices can't wait because honestly, like.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
That's a giant chunk of a movie.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Is working in an office? Just figure out Godzilla.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Giant chunk of the movie.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
So good? And no, it's like a giant chunk of
the movie. Is them having to go to like Dai
like hour upon our meetings to get the smallest thing.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
I felt their pain is all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
It was really good. And then after I saw shn Godzilla,
I was like, I'm going to stay here and I'm
gonna watch Weapons again. So I saw Weapons for a
third time. I will not even be embarrassed if I
see it a fourth time because nick I hate to
say it. It started off at like number eight on
the year for me, it moved to number five. Now
(15:29):
it's number one. It really is like in retrospect, it
is my favorite movie of the year.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
I can't take centers off that yet. But I am
going to see Weapons a second time.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Oh you finally you got to see it.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
We had not spoken about you having seen.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
It last week. So I'm still wrapping my head around it,
like I so many questions.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
What.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
I don't want to spoil it for anybody because I
think it's been a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
I spoilers, spoilers, spoilers, let's talk about it. What.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Let me bring up my notes, because yes, I took
notes on this damn movie.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
There's plenty of spoilers out there now. Nick I described
it as a six piece puzzle. Okay, so it's not hard,
and they're definitely little cracks. And Zach Gregor has mentioned
them because there are tiny, little plow holes and he
said that's fine because like you're dealing with unreliable narrators.
(16:31):
That's the whole point is we're learning all these from
different perspectives.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yes, and like because it is a non linear narrative.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Yes, it's like and I said this like the week
it came out, I said, it's not something that's never
been done before. No, it's just done really well.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Really well.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Because at the beginning of the movie, you don't know
what this movie is. No, because like, is it paranormal?
If it kind of is? But it like and I
say that because whenever we're still following Justine in that
first story, whenever she gets to the to her house,
there's obviously that doorbell and then the knocking, and you
(17:13):
still don't know that this is what kind of movie
this is. You don't know that it's humans with and
there's a witch. Let's just say it. You'll eventually see it.
It's a it's written on the on her car. But uh,
and that's basically what we described Gladys as as a witch.
(17:34):
But before that, you don't know if this is a
paranormal like ghost kind of thing, like something is possessing
somebody and what kind of is Yeah, but you don't
know that the spoiler that's Josh Brolin. You don't know
that because we haven't really met. We've we've heard him
(17:54):
yell at her, but I don't. I just think the
way the movie unravels is so perfectly paced. And the
way Zach Kraiger moves the camera, he moves it so smartly.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
So that was gonna be my two things. Like, the
reason the nonlinear narrative style works is because Kreeger paces
the movie so perfectly. Yeah, and this this type of
film could end up being very boring if if not
shot correctly. But you're right, the cam, the way the
(18:33):
camera moves, the way the camera zoom, you know, focuses
in and out.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Out like timing too, like whenever the door is open,
it's not like it's almost like a beat too long. Yes,
which makes it a little creepy.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
It it it delivers on that anticipation, like it makes
you wait just that moment longer than you're comfortable waiting, Yeah,
because you which is such a smart small thing to do.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Yeah. And the movie's also super funny, yes, super funny, uh.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Which, there is nothing wrong with having humor in your
horror movie. Yes, it's when the humor takes over the
horror movie that you can sometimes have problems. But Creager
never Kreeger never goes over that balance.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Yeah, he finds it like, because what I'm gonna go
by their character names because it's the only movie I've
ever remembered character names. But Justine Julia Gardner there it is. Yeah,
She's funny, she's like tragic, like because she's.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Oragic because in the movie is like I kind of
I think I've kind of figured it out because the.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Movie is called Weapons. There's the children are kind of
treated as weapons. Yes, but I think this is just me.
I think the movie is called weapons because she's the target. Okay, yeah,
because she is the constant target throughout the.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Entire the entirety of the movie. Yeah. A lot of
a lot of just themes in this movie too, like
you know, struggles with sobriety, you know, substance abuse in general.
You've got Justine, who is a relapsing alcoholic, which after
(20:32):
seventeen kids disappear from your classroom, I you know, you
probably relapse into alcoholism pretty quickly. You've got Paul, who
was sober, was sober, yeah, who struggles with his sobriety.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
But also his addiction might be Justine.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah, James is a local drug addict as well. Like, Yeah,
obviously subs since abuse plays a big role in the
background of this movie. Yeah, so I think it's the
little things like that that Kreeker brings. My biggest question
is I want to know how Creeker comes up with
(21:12):
these movies. I want to crawl inside the man's brain
and just see how he writes these movies.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
He's inspired me.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yeah, Like Barbarian was one of our favorite movies of
that year, and that was that came out of nowhere,
like neither of us wait nowhere.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
We saw it. We saw because you and I you
showed me Salad from the Whitest Kids, you know, you
showed me that, Like I believe that the at the
one to two So that was Yeah, that was like.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Two thousand and six, two thousand and seven, two and.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Eight, because I yeah, I was about two years out
of high school. Yeah at that point. I think I
was legally drinking at that point.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah, salad is a skit that has no reason to work,
but it so does.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
But you showed me that, and then you're like, I
have the DVDs and I was like, yeah, we're going
to watch the rest of them. Yes, and they're not
they're not perfect the Whitest Kids, you know, No, they're
very hit and miss, but whenever they have hits, when they.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Hit, they hit hard.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Yeah, they're very funny.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Coming from that kind of almost pseudo improv sketch comedy
background to now being possibly one of the premier directors
out there, premiere director producers out there, that's an insane
rise for him. And I just want to know how
(22:39):
he like, how do you come up with these movies?
How do you envision these before they become the films
that they become, Because like, again, I'm a pretty creative person.
I have a pretty wild imagination. Barbarian and now Weapons,
these are two movies that I could never have created
in my best days.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Well, I think I mentioned it last week too, but
I have no problem mentioning it again because maybe somebody
didn't listen to this last week and they're learning new
information about weapons. But he he started off the process
with like, Okay, a new teacher out of school. She
walks into her classroom and none of her kids are there.
(23:21):
Why And then he literally just built it from there.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Yeah, he starts off with a question. Yeah he did.
He has to find the answer.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Yeah, he didn't come up with gladys and work his
way backwards no, he worked his way too. Glad He's like,
I this could have been nothing. I got fifty pages in.
It could have been nothing. I started writing from two
different people's perspectives, because like, Okay, the teacher, how is
she dealing with all her class being gone? Okay, let's
(23:52):
think about one of the parents of one of those kids.
What does he think of her? And then he was like,
I started writing from his perspective, and then I just started.
And then I got through the principal because he obviously
would become a part of it, and I was like, well,
how does he fit into this whole thing? And he
literally just built it brick by brick, like he worked
(24:15):
like the small way. He just found it.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
He started with an idea and then found his way
through it.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
I think he nailed it. I think he could have.
It could have ended up being anything. Yeah, but he
created this beautiful character in Gladys who is just this
this leech who is just so horrible. And man the
(24:43):
kid who plays Alex.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
And I love Ali Madigan or Amy Madigan by the way,
just a great actress from who has been in our
lives since Uncle since even before Uncle Buck.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
I had to bring up uncle Buck. That's what everybody's
been bringing up. I don't I she's been ever president.
She's been. She's also married to Ed Harris, who also
last year in Love Lies Bleeding, had a very iconic
look as a like a evil guy too, so Amy
Madigan and and Ed Harris playing back to back just
(25:19):
truly evil characters. But then also she's funny.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
She's super absolutely hilarious.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Whenever she first walks into the principal's home after like
her his husband or partner allows her in and she
you've seen sleep Away Camp, right, Oh? Yeah, you remember
the beginning the Aunt in that movie. Yeah, I was like, dude,
she reminds me so much of her, like the acting
(25:50):
that she like, she was just very over the top.
And that's an original I just know it is like
and then gets into the kitchen and just hell breaks lose.
That's when we finally figure out what the fuck this
movie really is. Yeah, and it's fantastic. I loved each puzzle.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yeah, and I will say this again. I said this
last week, but not in content, but in the way
this is shot and the story is told, it just
it harkens back to that kind of Tarantino esque whole
fiction style storytelling, which again Kreeger has been very vocal about,
(26:32):
like whole fiction changed his life. Yeah, you know, at
a young age. So I think I think it's just
so well done. I am going to go see it
again because it is it is worth not only the
money but the time to see it again. And and
this is a movie that I feel like you should
see in theaters once again, like it makes a difference.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Yeah, it is just so funny. Whenever at the end
of Justine's story, whenever it does hold on that door
just a little bit extra along and then you get
the creepy person coming out. I'm not gonna say who
it is, yea, and then they get to the door
and it's just an extra beat, extra beat, and then
(27:17):
it's one of the funniest two creepiest scenes. And then
it just ends exactly like like not to like just
compare it to Barbarian. But he literally he just shows
you just enough, enough, just enough, and then he takes
you back. And sometimes it's not always back to just one.
He'll take you back to like two, and then he'll
(27:40):
maybe come back to like negative one.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, it's it's it's a lot of fun. To watch
how he makes movies, for sure, and it makes me
makes me actually excited for a Resident Evil film.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yeah, and he's excited, and that makes me excited that
he's excited to make it because it seems like something
that's been on his mind for a while. Yeah, because
why else would you just jump onto Resident Evil is
not like a hot property. I mean, Village and and
uh and bio Hazard did really well, yeah, comparatively, and they're.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
They're definitely return to form for those games.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Yeah, they were. They were very present at the time.
But like, Resident Evil is not like a hot property.
It's clearly something that he wants to do.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Yeah, it's it's it's a it seems like a passion
for him.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
So that makes me excited. I and you, uh, you
sent me a message about his payday that he's getting forwards.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
What was it thirty two thirty six million dollars or something?
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Thirty million because he got twenty He either got ten
or twenty up front for weapons, yes, because they no,
it was ten. It was ten because they got thirty
eight million, and ten of that was specifically for him.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Yeah. I was about to say, to put it into perspective,
his hey, day for the Resident Evil movie is almost
the entire budget of weapons.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Yes, and I hope he kind of pulls like the
the Jordan Peele route because he already he already produced
a Companion that came out earlier this year. But Jordan
Peele also has been uplifting some other lesser known or
up and coming directors, like like who did a candy Man?
(29:30):
I can't remember her name? But and then also he
has him coming out earlier later this year, Monkey Pop
is putting out him with Marlon Wains and the kid
from I Know What You Did last summer. So I
hope Zach Kraiger candy Man was Nia DaCosta Acosta. Yeah,
she's a great director. I think I can't remember what
(29:51):
else she's done. I think I've seen her other movie,
but uh, yeah, I hope Zach.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Craig she did a little since she did The Marvels.
She's also directing The Bone Temple twenty.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Eight years later that I did know that. Yes, that
makes me excited, but uh, I cannot remember who made Companion?
But I like if he continues to just bring up
these writer directors, I would love to see more writer
directors like he is because it.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Handcock was was the director of Companion.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Does Zach Kreiger have his own production company yet? I'm
sure he does.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Uh does not look like it. I'm sure he will
soon enough, especially with his payday.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
I would love for him. Oh he is collabor Oh no,
he just collaborates with someone right now. Yeah, I would
love for him to like and I compared him whenever
I spoke with you, I believe yesterday about that payday,
I was like, I kind of picture him kind of
like a Spielberg, not in like the prestige of Spielberg
(31:05):
like that, but Spielberg started off making horror and sci
fi and then he kind of went bigger picture. Like
he's still but he would remain like within the the
the entertainment space and not just go with like big budget,
big very important movies. He's still made like Ready Player
(31:27):
ones and and the BFG. He still had fun. I
hope that for Kreger, Yeah, because I see kind of
that same. Actually I see more like but he's a
better director Jordan Peele, Like in George Lucas, I see
we have a similar vision. Not to compare people to people,
(31:51):
but yeah, I see like if you were to compare
these people like and then like you have ari Astra
and he's kind of like a Stanley Kubrick.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Yeah, it's it's it's it's interesting because you know, filmmaking
is very cyclical, like Hollywood itself is cyclical. What goes
around comes around, and there was a you know, you
have exceptions to the rule, like Spielberg's like you know,
Ron Howard and stuff like that. These are guys who
(32:20):
are always going to be in the mix of being
some of the greatest directors of all time. But you
have this stable of people that are revolutionary for a time,
and it may only be for a very short time,
but like these groups of directors and producers that just
create things that are in the zeitgeist for a lengthy
(32:44):
amount of time. And I think Kreager's a part of that.
This generation's kind of consortium of producers and directors that
are going to be making films for the next decade
plus that we just continue to fall back to and go, hey,
do you remember in the heyday of the twenty teens
twenty twenties where we're getting all these great horror films
(33:06):
from these like seminal directors. I just feel like that's
happening right now.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Yeah, because honestly, we had a great like as horror fans,
We've had a great base of just kind of the
horror genre kind of finding different genres that it like,
it finds itself in where it's popular, but you always
find something pretty interesting within there that kind of elevates.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
The entire genre exactly.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Honestly, I don't think I've seen a horror like a
horror movie, not like Centers. Cinners is horror, but it's
I'm not. You can't compare Ciners to Weapons. They're not
even kind of the same kind of horror.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
It's comparing apples to engine parts.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
It's just because Centers is perfect. It's a perfect movie,
but it's not Weapons. But I haven't thought of a
horror movie kind of like evolving the genre since Barbarian. Yeah,
I think Weapons is I think it has completely reset
(34:19):
American horror yep, like because I think before even Barbarian,
it was get Out. Get Out was the last one
that changed like reset horror in America.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
And then we got a great trilogy of horror movies
from Jordan Peele starting with get Out. You know, we
had get Out, we had us and then nope. Yeah,
all three are just bangers.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Yeah. You know what if we get a Resident Evil
movie from Zach Kreiger and it's a banger, you know
what another three for three exactly, We've got some Hall
of famers. Yeah, being considered. So sorry, we went a
long time. Oh yeah, New Line has first look on
(35:05):
his stuff, so I imagine he can have his own
production company which he works with. He collaborates with one
a lot, which I'm sure are friends, but I'm sure
it's mainly because.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
You know, Monkey Paul is not happy about it.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
No, they are so mad.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Oh, I get it, I get it. Well.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Also, what's his name? I believe Eric Boss brought it up.
They thought it could be a conflict of interest because
had he gotten the deal with Monkey Paul because they
have the same management.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
They had the same manager, he wouldn't well they did.
Jordan Peel fired his man.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
He wouldn't have gotten the same payday. He would have
gotten like one million, but instead he got like almost
ten million. Yeah, by selling it to New Line. And
Jordan was like, okay, he's there were thirty million dollars
to you over our friendship, all right and cut ties.
But you know what, I think the guys still win
(36:00):
because I think he's on the side of Gregor, which
I mean he's well actually no, I was gonna say
he'd be willing winning regardless because he's also with Jordan.
But Jordan let him go, you'd still be winning with Jordan. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Absolutely, it was a it was a win win for
for management. There ye anything else you watched over the
last week.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
I watched last night. It comes at night. We don't
need to talk about it too long because there's not
a lot to talk about there. It is. It just
it's a fine movie. It's actually really beautifully shot. Thank
god it's ninety minutes, because if it was any longer,
I probably would have given up at ninety minutes because
it was like, this movie's kind of dull. But it's
(36:42):
it's not bad. It's just there's nothing great about it.
It's just it's like, you have good acting in it,
and that's what saves it. But other than that, it's
not really that great. But I had to watch it.
I own it because I don't know out for like
seven bucks.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Or something physical media.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
That's why. But I was like, I've never watched it.
I need to knock it off my bucket, off my checklist.
I owned the movie. I should watch it. Yeah, thank
god it was ninety minutes.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Gotcha. We both had the pleasure of watching the first
two episodes of Alien Earth last week. You have watched
the third episode. I will be watching the third episode
after we finished this podcast. I can tell you out
of the first two episodes a couple of things that
(37:33):
were made abundantly clear for me. First and foremost, holy shit,
the Alien franchise is Holly Back. Yeah, Noah, Holly knows
what the fuck he's doing.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
I have to go watch Fargo now because I've never
seen it.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
I'm like, oh, yeah, okay, oh, every season's great.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
I trust this guy.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Yeah. It is cinematic in the way that it is shot.
It is like watching prestige television for sure.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
It's like West World level like budget.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
How we are introduced not only to the characters in
this film or in film in this TV show, but
the monsters, the creatures in this TV series are brilliant.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
All the different types of either droid, synthetic and partials
are like, Nick, you haven't gotten to episode three yet,
but we see the magic of it. Dude. The guy
who plays Morrow the.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Cyborg cyborg.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
At the very beginning of the series, he is like
he might be David level like good, he might be
that good.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
I you know in that first episode when he is
in the computer room of the ship and lets the
crew die after probably having killed some of the crew
two is what we learned later, and he just calmly
puts himself in the like panic room, basically like he's
a super creepy fucking dude. He's even better than the
(39:18):
third episode played perfectly.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
I don't know how to say his name. I'm going
to guess it's Baboo Kesise, but dude, hands off, like
applause for you, bro, You're fantastic show.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
I feel like the way you say Morrow gives David vibes.
I feel like Timothy Oliphant gives David vibes too.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
I feel like they had to, they had to make
him a little less attractive with the with the blonde
hair and the blonde eyebrows, because like he's he's striking still,
but like he still has like just that that ability
of Timoth the only Timothy Oliphant has.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Only Timothy only Oliphant has yes his excuse me, his
character's name is Kersh and he's a synthetic for the
Prodigy Corporation, and I think he just plays them perfectly
when he's talking episode Yeah, when he when he's talking
about how there's no reason to fear because they're no
(40:24):
longer humans. Yeah, it's so good. Uh. The what I
will say, my last revelation from the first two episodes is, uh,
children in adult Bodies is super fucking creepy.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Ye at least they haven't really done anything, but yeah,
it's still creepy. All the kids, Like I'm saying kids
in quotation, Like we learn a little bit more about
them in the third episode, and dude, I love them.
I love this show. Like because I was I was
(40:57):
kind of like giggling a little bit. Was uh, and
then it's just like simpler creepy. And also like so
often I was just like, what the fuck is happening? Yeah,
so much like and this show has shown you so
much more of the alien than than any of the
movies have in the in the past. The show has
(41:20):
just shown it to you.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
I mean we The Xeno morph is shown pretty early
on in the first episode, and it's done exceptionally well.
Although I told you this via text while watching it.
For some reason, the thought that crept into my mind
the first time we saw the Xeno Morph was my
(41:42):
little mouth likes to eat people too.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
I thought the same thing.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Yeah, but we got a great alien little mouth kill, which, man,
is just so much fun.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
So many what the fuck is that? Yeah moments in
the show, because what the fuck is that? What is that?
What are those things?
Speaker 1 (42:02):
Sydney Chandler knocks it out of the park. She's great, Yeah,
she is incredibly good.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
Her and her brother Hermit are yes. Like I there's
a portion in the third episode where they're just like,
it's then yeah, and it's This show is truly incredible.
I like, I can't wait to rewatch. Like when I
was watching, I was like, I can't wait to rewatch this.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Well, and what I love that they're doing, what Holly
is doing, is he's world building. This isn't just about
a monster loose on a ship and trying to save
the crew or or or something in that vein, Like
we're learning about these mega corporations that own the United
(42:50):
or own the world, and we're seeing uh with Tani
and Boy Cavalier and you know, all these mega cop
conglomerates and how it has affected the way that the
world works, which I think is really neat. It's like
(43:11):
really cool to see that as a backdrop of Oh hey,
there there's fucking monsters on a ship in the middle
of a city.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
And all these people care about is profit.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Yeah, I hadn't actually, I hadn't really thought about that,
like until you mentioned so thank you, and then Nick,
I have restarted my Stranger Things rewatch. Nick I forgot
even the first season, like from episode one to two
or three and four. They're all bangers, They're all just
(43:46):
great TV. I have to slow myself down. Also, my
Netflix icon, like your graphic thing that you can choose
is I think You're frozen. Oh no, no mind, U
is Scoops of Hoy Steve. And I will never change
(44:06):
it because I don't like, I don't think you can
get that anymore. And I'm never going to lose my
Scoops of Hoy Steve. He is the that's the pinnacle
of Steve.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
Oh Steve. Steve. Steve is just one of the best
characters ever created for any medium.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
He's arguably one of my favorite characters ever. I think
it's Leslie nope, Steve r.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
Yeah, so good. I cannot wait to dive back into
Stranger Things. We're going to get a banger of a
fifth season. I just feel it, however so much. Yeah, however,
after that, like nineteen and a half hours of Stranger
Things season five, the Duffer Brothers are no longer going
(44:53):
to be at Netflix. It was just announced today that
they just signed a four year more multi picture multi
media deal with Paramount and they will be leaving Netflix.
So I'm wondering where that will leave the kind of
pseudo announced spin off of Stranger Things that was that
(45:17):
was announced.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
Which show.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
It was going to be a prequel series and animated.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Ah okay, yeah, honestly, I feel like anything that they
would attach themselves to after yeah, would be wouldn't be
as good. Yeah, no saving themselves.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
Yeah. So I just thought it was very interesting that
was just announced today that the Duffer Brothers are leaving Netflix.
So we get, Hey, we get nineteen and a half
more hours of Stranger Things, and I think that that'll
be enough.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
It's pretty neat.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Yeah, that's pretty neat. Anything else that you watched that
that you want to get into, I.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
Got no, I think that's all I watched this week.
I've been watching task Master, of course, because I'm a being.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
Jason is pure chaos.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
No, I'm on like series thirteen or whatever, and it's
some of my favorite people, but it's my least like
I don't even know their names because they're not comedians
I recognize. Yeah, I don't know them from anything, but
two of my favorite contestants so far. But literally my
least favorite contestant is on the same season series, so
(46:36):
it was just like he almost ruins, Like how funny
I find them? And yeah, but watching task Master, watched
Bob's Burgers, which was a lot of fun with the
I can't oh. Yeah. Bob was an insomniac and he
(46:56):
was talking to his his celebrity chef Skip Maroon non Johnny.
He was talking to his imaginary cookbook Skip marooge gotcha
and it was good. It was a great episode, Uh,
I think.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
Yeah, uh, you know, bringing up Kumel, we had some
Kumel news in a large batch of DC newsh if
if you look at the photos and the social media feeds. Uh.
For the Peacemaker uh season premiere, which by the way,
(47:39):
it is Peacemaker Week Thursday, we get our first episode
of season two.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
Kumel was seen at the premiere and it is confirmed
that he is a part of the cast for season two.
I think I did that Kumel is going to be
in the d c U, and there's a lot of
speculation about what character he will be playing. Uh. The
biggest rumor is that he will be playing Booster Gold,
(48:10):
which could be incredibly interesting.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
Okay, could you tell me a little bit about.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
So Booster Gold. Yeah, Booster Gold is a character that
exists in the DCU.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
He he comes from the future where he is a
failed college football player and ends up ends up being
a security guard at a museum for the Justice League.
And he ends up stealing his suit and robot and
travels back in time to join the Justice League. And
(48:47):
he fucks up a lot of stuff. And he's a
pretty funny, awesome character. And he's best friends with Blue Beetle.
So uh, he's a good guy. Okay, he's just kind
of dumb. Okay, he's the comic relief.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
I would have liked to see Kumail do bad but okay,
oh I would.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Too, But I think Booster makes a lot of sense
for it'll we'll see. Uh, you know they're the the
The press has seen episodes one through five of Peacemaker
season two, but Gun has come out and said that
he purposefully held back episode six through eight from the
press and from screeners because there are quote too many
(49:33):
spoilers for the DCU in total.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
Corn Sweat's showing up.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
Oh absolutely.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
I don't think he has that big of an ego
that he would not show up on James Gun TV proper.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
Season two directly revolves around the fallout from the Superman film.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
Yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
It's gonna be interesting. I'm super excited. U Maker season
two already has a ninety seven percent Rotten Tomatoes score.
Not that Drew and I give a rats ass about
Rotten Tomatoes, but it does. It doesn't form a lot
of people, so I'm super excited about it. Thursday can't
(50:17):
come soon enough. I have two episodes left to rewatch
before the season premiere.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
So I forgot how weird the first season gets almost
immediately too.
Speaker 1 (50:28):
Yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
The bit in the apartment in her apartment.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
When he is singing into the personal massager in his
tidy whities, you just know you're in for a roller
coaster for the rest of the season.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
And you know what, I think it was the Hollywood
Reporter put out like the best wrestlers turned actor, and
it went Dave.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
But he stood number one.
Speaker 2 (50:54):
Obviously because like he's like such a good just actor. Man,
he's so good at acting. And then they had Dwayne
and then.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
Which is fucking stupid. He's like, like Dwayne plays Dwayne
in every sense of the word.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
Like I'm gonna see the Smashing Machine, but I don't wanna.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
I'm gonna see it, but it's not because of of
Dwayne Johnson.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
No, it's like it's a Bennie Saftie movie, or I
think it's Bennye Saftie, it's a Saftie brother and yeah
it's I mean, Emily blunted it. So that's cool. Yeah,
I like Emily a lot. She's a great actor, has
(51:43):
a range, has not a range. Yeah, clearly you can
handle the rock because they were in Jungle Cruise as
well together.
Speaker 1 (51:54):
But yeah, that that was only the tip of the iceberg.
With DC News this week, Uh, it has come to
the attention of some in the press that James is
kind of making a sub movement in the Gods and
Monsters phase. One called The Superman Saga. They are fast
(52:16):
tracking a sequel that James has apparently written a sixty
page treatment on, and it is scheduled to shoot around
the same time as the start time of The Batman two,
which was confirmed as starting to film in January of
twenty six, and then a Superman family film with David corn, Sweat,
(52:40):
and Millie Alkon starring as Superman and Supergirl, with Crypto
coming back with possibly Brainiac as the big villain. So like,
I'm down for all of that.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Wasn't Brainiac supposed to be originally the villain for this one?
Speaker 1 (52:55):
I don't know we're involved, or I think he may
have supposed to have been involved, but James decided.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
To make this a more Alex centric.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
Lex centric story and start off on a less convoluted
foot for the cumart.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
I'm gonna say like he made it, Like he's made
some good decisions. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
Uh. In non DC news, though, Drew, have you seen
the trailer drop for season two A Fallout?
Speaker 2 (53:29):
I was kind of mainly just listening to it. I'm
not opposed to watching the trailer of that, but I
am very excited. I don't know anything about Vegas. I
know that's going to be a big part of it.
Speaker 1 (53:39):
We're going to New Vegas, baby, that's all I've.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
Seen it, like the previews and of the the trailer.
Than Walton Goggins in the past there and also him
as the Ghoul by the way, very good man. And
so is El Pernell. And so it was like, I
can't remember his name, the guy who plays Maximus, I
can't he like he was so great in the first
(54:03):
season too. And then of course you got Coy McLaughlin.
I love Kyle McLaughlin, the Captain.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
Yeah, yes, it's the smile and the odd Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:19):
I love Colm McLaughlins. Moises Arius is great on the
show too.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
The fact that we get a good show situated in
the Fallout universe in twenty twenty four and twenty twenty
five is insane to me, Like we are seeing almost
as something that we've never seen before. We could video
game IP.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
We have a lot of great television, like a lot
of great television, but.
Speaker 1 (54:50):
Like specifically good video game IP. We had a Super
Mario Brothers movie that I think both you and I
loved in the animated Super Mario Brothers movie.
Speaker 2 (55:04):
I like it. I've only watched it the one time.
You've probably watched it more time than I have.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
My kids loved it, so.
Speaker 2 (55:09):
Yeah, I know you've probably seen it more than I have.
I liked it a lot, but I've only just seen
it the one time, So I don't. I can't. I've
seen a lot of movies since.
Speaker 1 (55:21):
We're getting a Kreeger resident Evil movie.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
Very excited.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
We've got Fallout. Yes, we're getting a God of War
television show from uh from Amazon.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
At least we're getting good money into it.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
Yeah, So like I hate.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
These giant corporations, but I like if they're going to
make if they are going to make TV, I'm happy
they're putting money into good some good TV.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
So I think that's pretty cool. We won't spend much
time on this. But a new Rambo movie was announced.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
Yeah, but doesn't the timeline not really work because and
he starts becoming that like after Okay.
Speaker 1 (56:04):
Listen, man, I believe you. I actually don't care about Rambo.
It's never been never watched the films of anything. But
we're getting a prequel to Rambo. H.
Speaker 2 (56:17):
I just like I don't think, like, yeah, my my pinion,
my family, we didn't own a Rambo we didn't own
a first one was first blood.
Speaker 1 (56:28):
Ah, this is this is some really cool news that
I saw today on Variety. Jeffrey Wright and Octavia Spencer
are starring in a new film adaptation of Death of
a Salesman.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
Like all of those words, Yeah, I'm it.
Speaker 1 (56:47):
Yeah, I like everything, every single thing about that.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Every the entire sentence structure of that. That was perfect
right in Vila Davis, Octavius, Octavious, Yeah, I mean both
of Spencer.
Speaker 1 (57:06):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
Actually, to be honest, I actually like Octavia Spencer more
than I like La Davis. I think the consensus would
probably say that Villa Davis probably the better actor, and
I'd probably agree, But I love like Octavius. And the
thing is, if you can look, she's been president in
my entire life. She was on Malcolm in the Middle
(57:28):
like a couple episodes.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
But you're still on Malcolm in the Middle.
Speaker 2 (57:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
I guess he's giving it to us though. Focus in
Ambulance amblin done. Yeah, yeah, so yeah, I like freaking in.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
You know the people who brought us the most recent
West Side Story?
Speaker 1 (57:46):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (57:47):
Did he did he make Jaws?
Speaker 1 (57:50):
I think so.
Speaker 2 (57:50):
I think I think there was an ambling at the time.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
But speaking of Jaws, perfect way out of context. I
rewatched it again this last week. Why the hell not?
Speaker 2 (58:02):
You can't?
Speaker 1 (58:02):
Right? God, it is still it is still a near
perfect movie.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
Yeah, No, I think it's a perfect movie.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
Quin is such a perfect character to bounce off of
both Roady and Hooper. Yeah, and that trio of characters
that we spend nearly the whole.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
Movie with, at least the last half, at.
Speaker 1 (58:26):
Least the last half, is just mind blowingly good with
absolutely perfect performances.
Speaker 2 (58:34):
Nick, I would like to perform my favorite line from
the from the movie Jaws from nineteen seventy five is
directed by Steven Spearbird.
Speaker 1 (58:43):
Okay, please please do.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
What it's my favorite line in that entire movie. It's
a tiger shark. What it's It's the like if I
could get that guy on a shirt, I've won it.
Speaker 1 (59:04):
Last thing that I.
Speaker 2 (59:05):
Have, Brodie is also the perfect character.
Speaker 1 (59:09):
Yes, absolutely. Last thing that I have to talked about
news wise is that Apple has purchased the rights to
the Jake Johnson ben Stiller pickleball comedy known as The Dink.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
I didn't know Ben Stiller who still had it.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
In him as much as I enjoyed that last sentence
about Jeffrey Wright and Octavia Spencer. I'm equally okay with
Apple buying the rights to Jake Johnson and Ben Stiller's
Pickleball movie movie.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
Man, I almost wanted as a TV show, right, but.
Speaker 1 (59:52):
The reporting could be wrong. Let me let me check
one thing real quick.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Let me see because I know Ben Stiller's not directing
any episodes of season three or seven, which is interesting.
Maybe it's because of this focus on and the thing
is weird thing ben Stiller doesn't even like Pickleball. No,
(01:00:16):
uh yeah, it's a man that that is exciting news.
Oh one, I mean I think we're kind of winding
down a little bit. One thing I do want to
just say is congratulations to Naomi, who is now expecting
(01:00:37):
If you are a w W fan or a big Jim,
I cannot remember her real name for the life of me.
It's something Trinity fattoo. Yes, congratulations, very happy for you.
Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
I hate that her run as champion was cut short
because of it, because man, they were doing awesome things
with Naomi.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Couldn't But during your TNA run, no fit, she actually
made a lot of really good connections at TNA She's
actually might be the kind of catalyst of of w
W and TNA's partnership. Now, she might technically be that
that thing that brought them together. I could be completely wrong,
(01:01:21):
and I'm okay if I'm wrong, because we're all wrong
every once in a while. But yeah, I want to
say congratulations to her. I have do you have anything else?
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
Well before we call it? Okay, I want your thoughts
on this, because I have very I have very specific
thoughts on this. Quentin Tarantino was on a podcast this
last week called The Church of Tarantino. It's a podcast
(01:01:54):
that obviously does expansive things around Tarantino movies. He is
quoted as saying that in Glorious Bastards is his masterpiece,
Once upon a Time in Hollywood is his favorite, and
Kill Bill is the movie that he was born to make. Yeah,
(01:02:15):
I need your thoughts on that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
I fully agree. Okay, I think he actually did nail it.
I would actually probably say, because I might almost flip
in Glorious Bastards and Once upon a Time in.
Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
Hollywood, you see, mine would be uh, his masterpiece would
be pulp fiction because I changed because it changed movies.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
It did change movies. But it is itself a masterpiece,
but it's not his masterpiece.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
In Glorious Bastards would be my favorite, yes, and kill
Bill definitely belongs in the born to Make category.
Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
I think what what did he say Bastards was his masterpiece? See,
I think What's Upon a Time in Hollywood is his masterpiece?
And what did he say? Once upon a Time in Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Is his favorite movie?
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
I think he should definitely flip those. I think Glorious
Bastards should be his favorite, and I think What's Upon
a Time in Hollywood is his masterpiece.
Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
He also went extensively on this podcast into why David
Fincher is the perfect person.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
Because they're the two best directors.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Yeah, direct.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
You know what I want?
Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
So What's upon a Time in Hollywood?
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
So I want some of my directors to have an ego.
I want some of them. He doesn't seem to be
wholly toxic, so let him have an ego. He makes
great movies, and he doesn't seem to like he's been.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
Like, he doesn't be an asshole.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
He's possibly been a creep to Uma Thurman, and yeah,
that really really sucks. But I think they're still really great.
I think they they had fracture relationship, but I think
it was just I think she was. He was asking
a lot of her at the time, and I think
she was. I think she was not Shelley like in
(01:04:06):
a bad way. I think she was Shelley devalling at
the time. She needed a break and she was not
being given a break. But Shelley Vall just went on
for it went on for years. Luckily Uma got breaks. No.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
I just thought it was interesting. I know that both
of us are huge Tarantino fans, but both of us
have very different tastes in tear very much films.
Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
Very much, very different Tarantino fans.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
I was intrigued to see what your what your feelings
on that would be. But regardless of how you feel
about what your favorite Tarantino film is, I think we
can all agree that Tarantino is the definition of an
a tour and makes great movies.
Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
I think whatever order you put your favorite Tarantino movie
is is correct. I think every singles, every single person's order,
whatever it is, if you've seen all of or if
you've even just seen nine of ten, whatever order you
put it in, it's the correct one. Like they're all great.
(01:05:09):
I wish Jackie Brown was my favorite movie.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
I too love Jackie Brown.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
I wish Kill Bill was my favorite movie. It's in
Glorious Bastards. I love Jackie Brown and I love Kill
Bill so much that I want them to be in
my favorite movie. But they're not because Inglorious Bastards exists.
Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
No Glorious Bastards exist, and it is just a fantastic
fucking film period. But you say, hey, Nick, you want
to watch a Tarantino movie, I don't care which one
you put on it. The answer is going to be yes.
Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Yeah. The only one I'd be like, maybe a different
one is death Proof, but only if I haven't watched
death Proof in a while. If I've seen death Proof
within the last two or three years, I'd be like,
let's watch something else.
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
If you say, hey, I just got this four K
blu ray of If or Dogs, do you want to
watch it? I'm immediately going to say.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
Yes, let's do it. You want me to order a pizza?
Like is that what you're asking me to do?
Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
Are you asking me to use my Domino's points now?
Because I will?
Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
Yeah, because they it tells me when it's in the oven, Yeah,
which is pretty quick. Like I placed the order and
it's almost immediately in the oven.
Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
Sweet Oh, Drew, Where can I find you?

before I know.
Speaker 2 (01:07:50):
