Speaker 1 (00:19):
Welcome back to get another episode of was the podcast
exclusively for people who know their foster parents are dead? Well,
your host is always I'm.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Nick, I'm Androsie and I give it to me. It's funny,
but I cannot remember what that's from either.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Terminator too.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Wolfy.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
She just puts that. She the T one thousand just
puts that, like butter knife do that guy's skull?

Speaker 2 (00:52):
God?

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Yeah, all while he's all the while he's drinking some milk.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I think with what's his name's face on it right
with a missing have you seen? It's just juvenile enough
for James Cameron, Certified door Expert James from the show
that you cannot get anymore Future Ran But that was
I think my favorite thing from that entire show is

(01:19):
Certified door Expert James. How you been? I'm good. I
anticipated it as soon as I said because there was
a lull. We had a slight lull, and like usually
you usually go in with a how are you doing?

(01:40):
But I since there was a lull, I was like,
all right, he's going to say it, but I'm going
to get in there right before. I'm doing well fantastic.
I'm happy to hear I'm doing all right. I think
I ran my best hour yesterday. I ran six point
seven miles an hour instead of just six point five.

(02:04):
And last week, I want to say on Thursday, I
was just I was feeling myself. I went to the
gym around like eleven. I was doing like some empty
stomach cardio and a lyft, I was doing a lift.
I did thirty minutes of stairs and I was like
I as I was going to my gym, I saw

(02:24):
somebody running outside. I live in Phoenix, and I was like, huh,
he's running outside. So after I finished my workout and
my stairmast words, I was like, I'm just gonna go
run a five k real quick outside. I feel good
and I hit like zero point nine miles and it's

(02:45):
like my body shut down, like it was at I
looked at my phone. It was one hundred and fourteen
one hundred and nine degrees and I I did two
point two miles, but it was real slow. That last

(03:06):
one point three well, I'm sure I kept trying to
start and stop, kept trying to start and ended up
stopping multiple times. I've never felt more out of shape
than trying to run outside in one hundred and ten degrees.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Well, I'm sure not.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Awful, but I did it. It was a mistake, Yes,
mistakes were made, but I did it. But also, Nick,
you know what I also did. What did you do?
I watched a bunch of movies.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Man, me too.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
What did you watch? So?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I told you that. In preparation for seeing the New
Naked Gun, I decided to watch pop Star Never Stop,
Never Stopping.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
It's perfect, which is listen.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
It had been a minute since I had seen that movie.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
And Lisa the original basic bitch it is.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
It was a joy to watch, like legitimate joy. I
could not stop laughing. Andy Samberg is so good because
he's so sincere in his own narcissism in the movie.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Reviews A shit emoji yah so mixed reviews.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Mixed reviews. The amount of cameos and people playing themselves
in that movie is just such an astounding thing.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
You know, Emma Stone is completely uncredited in that movie.
He's like one of the few people who actually is
in the movie who is completely uncredited. And it upsets
me because that would make my Emma Stone watch this year,
I think, go from sick to seven. But because she's
not showing up like she's like tied with I think Pedro.

(05:06):
But the person who should always be my like top
watch person is Emma Stone every single year.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Uh so yes, Watch pop Star never stopped, never stopping,
which sec.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Tim Texas is an eternity, Harry, it's a third of
the way to Mars Connor, We've talked about this thirty seconds.
To Mars is the name of the band, not a fact,
not a fact.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I love Tim Meadows in that movie so much. Tony Tony, Tony.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
With a question mark, with a question mark.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yeah, and Deborah, Yep, what's the origin of that?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
I believe Deborah, Deborah, she's the best.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
What was it expecting the hard r But uh that
Tim Meadows is in so little of that movie.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
And yet and walk on and yet we always find
reasons to bring up Tim Meadows.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Because Tim Meadows is the absolute best. He's just he
is like he's like your sixth man on an NBA team,
or he's like the utility man in baseball.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yeah, who always gets voted the All Star League. He's
not a starter, but he always gets voted to the
All Star Game.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
He's never your he's never your main talent, but he
comes in and he does yeoman work and it's always stellar.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yeah, he enhances the talent of everyone around him.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Noll's He's the Jose o'kendo, the secret weapon of comedy.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
But we love you, Meadows.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yes, I did rewatch the original Naked Gun from the
Files of Police Squad.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Yeah, which.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Is just one of the damned funniest movies ever made
because Leslie Nielsen is so good. Yeah, like and again
talking about earnest like he is so sincere and earnest
in his performance in that movie.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
And half ast a single thing like he plays it
with like complete earnesty every single time.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
There's a scene after the fake music video where you know,
Jane and him are quote unquote together after they've only
known each other for like a day and a half,
and he turns as he's walking away from it, and
he goes and I faked every orgasm. I just I

(07:34):
lost it when I saw that. It was just so
damn funny. I just I love Leslie Nielsen and will
watch anything that he has ever done. But yeah, watch
the Naked Gun. Pop Star, my kids had me watch

(07:54):
K Pop Demon Hunter.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
You know, I've heard good things.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I've heard actually a really good movie. It is really
cute and fun and the songs are catchy as hell.
It's worth a watch for sure.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Whenever I work out every once in a while, go
to like either Spotify or Amazon Music's like like like
the top hits playing right now, and for like an
entire week or two, all those K pop demon Hunter
stuff was on was on there, and I was just like,
I just needed something to get me through a run
or a workout, and yeah, it wasn't bad. Like I

(08:35):
was also listening to Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild and the complete
opposite of Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild, which was Benson Boone's new
Yes song. There are complete opposite songs. I listen to
them back to back, and you know what, both are great.
Like I don't know if the Benson Boone album is good,

(08:56):
but that song real good.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah. I did watch Final Destination Blood Lines.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Oh did you? I mean, I haven't fought myself watching
It's fine.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Uh, this isn't a movie. But I did watch Mark
Maren's Panic at least on HBO Max recently. Mark Maron
is just fantastic, So like.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Yeah, that podcast is ending.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yes, incredibly sad that it's ending. UH rewatched Heretic, which
is on UH on HBO Max as well.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yes, and then it's such a weird tension builder too,
because like like it builds the tension really well, but
then it also just kind of uh resets your expectations
every single time.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yes, I agree, and I think it's one of those
movies where you notice things on the second and like
third rewatch you didn't see the first time.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
I need to do a rewatch. I haven't done one
of that yet.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
And then I watched Hellboy one and two because I
was in a mood and I wanted to watch them
and Garramel Lil Toro is amazing.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, you just want to experience some art, yeah, cinema.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
And then I finished up my TV watching outside of
sports with finishing up my rewatch of Peacemaker season one
in preparation for season two coming out.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
It comes out of the twenty seventh. I do need
to watch that here soon.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
I think the twenty first.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Actually, you're probably correct. I like that the show. I can't.
We were talking about the scene in the prison the
other day that we do look forward to. Have you
gotten to that episode yet on your rewar? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
No, I've watched the whole thing again, like I finished
my rewatch, so I will probably watch that episode again
just for that scene, because that scene is so fucking good.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Every episode of that show was like week to week,
very satisfying, Like you never really felt like shorted by
that show.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
No, I want uh the only other thing that I'm
I'm looking forward to watching notton theaters because I am
I'm on my long week this week, so I'm not
gonna be able to watch any movies this week in theater,
but I am going to go see Together and Naked Gun.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
I have seen her both since we since we spoke,
I've seen Together for a second time, and I saw
The Naked Gun for a first time. Nick The Naked
Gun is like it's the funny It's gonna be the
funniest movie of the year unless Jackass puts out like
a banger, Like there's not gonna be a better, more cinematic,
funny movie this year, and like it's not like an

(11:51):
all star movie. It's not like like the the movie
is not perfect, but sure jokes land pretty much every
single time. It's literally like a joke every twelve seconds,
and it's it's so perfectly played by Liam, by Paul
Walter Houser, by by Anderson. It is so perfectly played

(12:17):
by every single one of them because they they play
it with that earnesty Liam. Like most recently, I was
talking to my sister about Liam Neeson on the Press Store.
Obviously him and Pamela Anderson have come out as as
a couple, but I don't recall ever seeing like Liam
Neeson smile this much before. I agree, he seems happy,

(12:39):
and I'm happy for him, and it's just like any
part of it is because of this movie, because I
feel like this movie really like, let him show a
side of himself and Kiva, let show people that side
of him.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Let him cook. Yeah, if anybody ever doubted Liam Neeson's
comedy chops, you just got to watch his his episode
in Extras with Rudy Gervaise, Yeah, or his his cameo
in Ted two, and I think he's both.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Both of those are just perfect encapsulations of how Liam
Neson doesn't take himself too seriously. But what I appreciate
on the press tour, you know, they were talking to
Liam about it and he was like, I had to
I had to play this real. I had to play
this like this was a real movie and this was
a serious role and that's why it's so funny. And

(13:35):
reviewers on like TikTok and YouTube and stuff that I
wholeheartedly respect, you know, most of their they're talking about
the movie was we had to go see it a
second time because the first time we saw it was
impact theaters and the laughing was so ubiquitous that we
missed some jokes because we were still laughing from the

(13:57):
previous joke.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Nick, there was a moment in this movie where they
it involves a snowman. I'll just give it that, and
at one point it focuses on Liam and Pamela and
then it just kind of just it's a quick zoom
and tilt up to as snowman, and I from that moment, like,

(14:21):
I was laughing throughout the entire movie because because there's
so many stupid gags that you just slowly noticed more
and more. Obviously, Like there's one gag that shows up
throughout the movie, and it's just like each time it
shows up, because every it'll show up like in like
really quickly all over itself, and then there will be

(14:45):
a break and then it'll show up again. And it's
just like it makes it so much better. But there's
a moment with that snowman that just that zoom in.
I started giggling like like a fucking child. And the
sequel and that happened afterward probably didn't warrant. I was

(15:05):
dying in my seat and it took me like a
while to recover from it because I was I was like,
that's just so stupid that it's the most brilliant thing
that you can do in this moment. Thank you a
Kiva shave.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
It is a movie that the world needs right now
for sure. And I hope that this brings about I
hope this makes a billion dollars, so it brings about
a renaissance of comedies coming back to theaters because too
often they go straight to streaming and you don't get

(15:44):
that experience of sitting in a packed theater with people laughing.
And I think that's something special in something that needs
to be out there.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Yeah, and this this is this movie's perfect. It's eighty
five minutes. Akiva was talking about like if you look
at like the the first Nicked Gun movies, they're like
less than ninety minutes and they're just joke machines and like,
and he discovered, like, yeah, the perfect comedy is ninety minutes,

(16:11):
because if you go over that, like you don't, then
you're writing is just like there's too much. There's too
much there. This you get in the perfect amount you can,
like you can pack it and it doesn't feel cumbersome.
And this movie never once feels cumbersome of jokes. It's like,
obviously Airplane is kind of the exception to the rule

(16:32):
because that's literally like a joke a second. Yeah, but
no other movie can get away with that. No, this
one is like perfectly paced for a like just a
ninety minute. Like I didn't feel like it was ninety minutes.
I just felt like I was there and it was.
It's such a funny movie. Is it perfect? No, Like,

(16:55):
if I were grading it on just a scale of
what the movie is, i'd give it a like a
seven out of ten or a three and a half star.
But because I never stopped laughing throughout the entire like
eighty five minutes, it bumped it up as like an
entire thing just because it's that ridiculous. There's there's a

(17:15):
moment with Danny Houston where you're thinking, does Danny Houston
have that in real life and then and then he
adjusts it and you're like, oh, okay, I guess he doesn't.
But like the entire movie, you're like, is that real word?
Paul Walter Houser was great. Cch Pounder has a couple

(17:39):
scenes in it, and like the scenes that they have
with her, they only have her like three total, like
actual scenes where she's like having has a major role,
but they capitalize on cch Pounder and like her way
of speaking because she's so authoritative, she's so perfect. But
if you put her in a comedy where she's still

(18:02):
treating it like she's on was she on the shield
or something, she's treating it like she's fully on that.
Kevin I didn't even know Kevin Durand in it. It
was in it. And this might be the most like
the best looking Kevin Durand has ever looked is in
this movie. I cannot express to you. This movie is

(18:27):
for a comedy as stupid as The Naked Gun. This
movie is a perfect nicked gun like legacy and everything
that you see in the trailer, almost everything is in
like the first ten minutes of the movie. Oh wow,
so you don't like it doesn't get into anything of
this movie from the from the trailers. This that's awesome.

(18:48):
It's perfect.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
I I know, I'm sure it's just a cameo, but
I'm excited to see Buster Rhymes on screen for some reason.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yeah, like he's only in it just a little bit,
but uh yeah, it's It's fantastic.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
And I know weird Owl's in it. Uh I got
I hope it's a callback to the First Naked Gun
because weird Al is in the very first Naked Gun
as well.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
I don't remember.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, So Frank comes off the airplane. Leslie Nilsen comes
off the airplane from uh be Root where he was
like beating up dictators from the Middle East and his
wife just left him, and he goes up to these microphones.
He's like, I'm so glad you all could come out
here and degrade me and blah blah blah. He's like, Frank, Frank,

(19:38):
they're not here for you. Weird Al was on the
flight and it hands over and weird Al I remember,
I remember he's just waving.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Yeah. Uh no, uh well he is. He plays weird
now in the middle So, uh it's God.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
I love the movie, and The American Nightmare is also
in the movie as a bartender.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
He sure is. Well, no, he actually has like a
class like a classic naked Gun type character where Frank
Dreben gets to kind of beat up on because obviously
you get a wrestler. Uh they didn't. They didn't cover
his tattoo. They just didn't shoot him. From that side,

(20:27):
of course, it's a it's a very it's a very
fun fantastic movie. Liam Mason never funnier even like well, actually,
I don't know that that short little bit on extras
is so good like that that's hard to be. And
of course, like his appearances on Ted, just like nobody

(20:49):
will come after me.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
They're just for kids. They're exclusively for kids. Uh No,
you brought up Pounder, and now all I could think
of is Dennis doing Pounder on Always Sonny.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
But then you play them back to back like side
by side, and they're damn near perfect. Glenn Howard's almost
has the perfect Pounder. But they really did it because
they really like they loved that show while they were
in the writing room, they just loved her.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
So what I'm gathering is the Naked Gun is a
big ghost see I must see for you.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Absolutely, the more packed the theater, the better like this movie. Like,
I don't care if you miss jokes, it's you'll be
fine because there's another joke coming.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
There's another joke right around the corner.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
I was right, she was on the shield. I had
no idea I was making a guess. I said, yes,
she was okay. But yeah, it's so so funny, I was.
I can't wait to watch it again. I might go
see it in theater again because i've tomorrow where I could, Like,

(22:03):
there's no like early showings of of weapons this week,
so like yeah, sometimes like we'll get like a Wednesday
release like at night, but there is none this week,
So I might On Wednesday, after I get off work,
I might go see either The Neck and Gun again

(22:26):
or Together for the third time, because I loved Together
even more the second time. Actually, I I reassured myself
that I, like, I wasn't just I was waiting for
this movie. I needed it to be good. No, I
I really love it. It stays at number four on
my on my year, so because it's just it's performed really,

(22:50):
really well. Alison Brie and Dave Franco are really great.
In it, the how it gets to where it is. Obviously,
like I'm good at like kind of watching clues when
we're watching a movie and looking for things that might
not even appear on screen. So I kind of I

(23:12):
knew where this movie was going from the get the
first time I saw it, but I also like going
into it the second time and knowing all that information
and then just like because you understand, like Dave Franco's
trauma in the movie a lot more and basically why

(23:33):
he he is the way he is, I you actually
really like Dave Franco's character even a lot more the
second time, even though he's not like a great The
character himself is not like a great guy, but you
understand him a little bit more, especially going after the

(23:53):
second show. So yeah, I'm reassured the fact that I truly, look,
I'm not we're thinking this movie, and the fact that
I love Dave Franco and Alison Brie. It is just
that good of a horror movie because it's not like
outwardly scary. It's just it's very tense situations and very

(24:15):
cute key points, and I think that's just performed really well.
It's written really well, So like, yeah, Naked Gun is
actually number thirteen on my year, which I wish it
could go higher. I actually right now, the only I
could see it moving past Actually, you know, I might

(24:36):
move it past the Life of Chuck and Jurassic World,
but Together is firmly at my number four right now. Yeah, yeah,
I like. I like the movies as I've seen, like
The Bad Guys too is out right now. I just
watched the first Bad Guys this week, which I didn't hate. Actually,

(25:00):
I kind of liked. I. I don't know why I
didn't watch it the first time, but like I was
just maybe it's just because I'm a I'm a Mark
Maren kick right now because I'm listening to a lot
of the show right now because he's he's ending. But
he said, it's the first time in the history of
me doing shows where my fans will come up to

(25:22):
me and say, my kid is a big fan of
you because he plays he's the voice of mister Snake. Yeah.
So I was like, you know what, because like I
watched Stick because of Mark? What else did I watch
recently because Mark was in it? Did I watch anything else?
Because no, I guess it was just Stick. I put
on stick purely because of Mark Marrick. So uh. And

(25:47):
then this week I I still need to watch one
more of his movies, but I watched two of Jordan
Peele's movies. I was just in the movie or nope, nope,
of course, because that's my favorite one and it's a
damn near perfect movie. And then as I was scrolling
I Believe Netflix Sunday night, I was like, I saw us,

(26:10):
and I was like, and it said leaving soon August thirty. First,
I was like, gotcha, might as well just put it on.
I haven't watched it since. The theater still really great.
Lapedie the Jongo's so good at it. I love Winston
Duke in it a lot.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Man, I so good.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
It's one of my favorite theater experiences I've ever been
a part of, because I watched it in like downtown
Phoenix on the night it came out, and with a
predominantly black, black crowd, and it was the perfect audience
because like, you couldn't like I wouldn't experience that with

(26:47):
anybody else. It's not like they were like talking or
anything like that, but you could tell you could feel
a different vibe in the room. Sure, because like during
any packed house, they're gonna here some people around you,
and it's just like it was a perfect environment, especially
for like a Jordan Peele movie. After the success of
Get Out, Uh, it would just I can't explain it.

(27:10):
It just turned into one of my favorite theater experiences,
which I don't remember every single time I've been to
the theater and what what the vibe was like during
that movie, but I do remember during us SO and
it was a positive experience. So, uh, Elizabeth Moss and

(27:31):
and Tim Hideker just getting being assholes and getting killed.
Yep about the movie. And then like I do love
Elizabeth Moss and whenever she played her her other character,
she just like she hammed it up really well. Tim
Highdecker was stupid, so I loved him. I love the

(27:52):
kids in the movie. Whenever Lapiti Lupita tells Zora to
put it on her shoes just because she knows, like, uh,
she's gonna need to run, it's just such a smart thing.
But like you wouldn't naturally, like people would just be
outside in their shoes, and there's like it makes sense
that you would put on your shoes if you're going outside,

(28:14):
but if you're being rushed or anything like that. You
might not have a chance. But whatever she gives her
tells her express it. I can't think of the word
specifically to put on her shoes because she she's already
been established as a track star. I just love it.
I don't fully understand the movie, and the fact that

(28:35):
I don't. How do the people underground also have the
same clothes on? That's the like, that's the only gripe
I have the movie is how like, how does she
get that thriller shirt? Also down below? And yeah, yeah,
I'll do a matein have that great sweater down below?

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Sincerely, good question to me.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
It's the only gripe I have with the movie, only gripe.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Like that part doesn't make sense at all.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Yeah, but everything else is great.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Just the concept of the movie is such a great concept.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Yeah, and also using like hands across America as like
the one of the tones of the movie.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Yeah, the fact that Peel was able to come up
with something like that.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Yeah, it's a very fun story.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Yeah, so Together is also a watch.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
I would suggest it in a theater, definitely. I would
strongly let me rephrase that strongly suggest it at an
adjective if you're not able to. I understand movies are expensive.
I would strongly suggest it. I would definitely. I would
almost view it as you're a fan of comedy, you

(30:00):
seeing the Naked Gun as a priority. Obviously I want
you to see the mall, but honest, if I'm being
the most honest, I would say, go see The Nicked
Gun in the theater. Definitely make an attempt to purchase
or rent or buy or just stream together when it

(30:22):
becomes available, because that movie is so fun. It's better
in the theater because you're like, you can't go anywhere.
It's horrors, you can't go anywhere when you're in the theater.
That makes it better.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
So it does make it better. Some just real quick
movie news. Apparently, even before the last Spider Verse movie
comes out, we have confirmation that Sony and Marvel are
making a Spider Verse spin off that focuses on Spider Punk,

(30:55):
with Daniel Koluya set to return as Spider Punk. So
that's that should be enjoyable. I thought, yeah. His his
art style, the art style of Spiderpunk in general, was
brilliant in across the Spider Verse or into the Spider Verse.
Excuse me, uh, so definitely definitely looking forward to that.

(31:21):
Also in the trades, there was an article about Monica
Babaro being officially attached to the new Luca Guadnino film
Artificial which is going to be out from MGM and
Amazon Studios. She's going to join Andrew Garfield and Jason

(31:44):
Schwartzman as well as I Barenholtz in that movie.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Est.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Yeah, it's it's supposed to be a dramedy set in
a world of artificial intelligence. That's the only thing that
I've seen about it, so it should definitely be interesting,
you know, a banger of a cast.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
I just saw Jason either I think I posted, but
Ike and Jason Schwartzman went and saw the neked Gun
together and I was like, that's like, I didn't know
they were friends. Obviously I don't know these people, but
I was like, huh, just never expected it.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Yeah, really light on news from the movie world right now.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
A lot of Tom Hollmand leaks, but like they they
got ahead of it.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
Yeah, we did. We did see the Spider Man suit
for a Brand New Day, and I told Drew offline,
I'm kind of stoked about the costume itself because it
looks like like if I were running barfl which I
obviously do not, but it looks like what I would

(33:01):
say is that Holland Spider Man took things from from
inspiration from Toby and Andrew Garfield's Spider Man Peter Parker's
because we've got the raised webbing as well as the
Amazing Spider Man emblem and the and the more blue
and red from Amazing Spider Man. So it looks pretty

(33:24):
damn good. So that that's gonna be very interesting to
see more stuff come out about that movie.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
I look forward to it. I I'm hearing more and
more that like what's his name? Uh, it's darker as well.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
Yeah, well, I mean you've got the Punisher in it,
You've got you've got Mark Ruffalo returning as the whole
all accounts, I'm a.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Little less excited about Mark Ruffalo being it. He makes
it a little bit less like Street Level, So.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
I agree, I was gonna say that. But what is
interesting in the rumor mill of Mark Ruffalo being back
as the Hulk is that he will no longer be
the Professor Hulk that he was in uh in the
game and that we saw in She Hulk Savage he'll
be a more savage Hulk, so.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
That's still appropriate to say.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Yeah, yeah, I mean that's what he was called in
the comics, so I would hope so, uh so that
could be interesting. Again, I do think it takes away
from the whole street level vibe that we were told
we were going to get.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
But I think that's what I think Punishers dealing with,
where he wants to slow down the Hulk.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Ah, you know, it's going to be a little difficult
being street level Spider Man if they take inspiration from
the Brand New Day comic books and the fisto is
a part.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Of this movie.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Uh so, uh we'll see, you know what We've got
until next year sometime most likely to Marvel movie. Nope,
technically Doomsday is unless a reslot things.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
I think this is our next Marvel.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
I think you're probably right. I'm just saying on the
on the schedule, on Marvel's schedule, on the doc Doomsday
comes out in June, so it's gonna be interesting. Marvel's
in a in a pretty okay place right now thanks
to the First Family. Fantastic Four was number one at
the box office again this week, with Naked Gun bringing

(35:26):
up number two. So you know, Marvel, They're They're in
the business of making hundreds of millions of dollars for
all these movies that they put out each so it
should be interesting, to say the least. I think you
and I, though, are most excited about this week's new
release from Zach Krieger, who we loved when he did

(35:48):
Barbarian that was one of our favorite movies of the
year a few years back. But we also, as we
talked about last week, do love him from the whitest
kids you know as well. Zach Kreeger's Weapons comes out
on Friday, and the more I read about it, the
more excited I am for.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
It can't get here fast enough. Honestly, I know very
little about it, mostly from what I've heard from you.
I do know that Julia Garner, how many people are Okay, sorry,
weird phrasing there. Paul Walterhauser had two movies come out

(36:29):
basically back to back, Fantastic four in the Naked Gun, Yes,
Julia Garner Fantastic four and Weapons Pedro Pascal obviously, like Eddington,
what's it called Fantastic four? He had Materialists and Freaky

(36:50):
Tails earlier this year. There's a lot of people just
showing up, Like Dave Franco has just showed up and
together he has two more movies coming.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
It's two more movies coming up this year.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Yeah, one with McKenna grays in it with the kid
from How to Train Your Dragon, and I believe I
can't remember what else is Willa Fitzgerald's in it, and
she was in Strange Darling last year. Yeah, a lot
of people just have a bunch of movies coming out
at the same time.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
And well, I think Weapons Just is an incredibly not
only interesting premise, but has a really good cast to
bring about that premise. You know, Josh Brolin is just
a consummate professional. That guy just knows how to act.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Super weird too.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
He's been in our lives since Goonies, I mean since
the eighties.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yeah, you know you.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Talked about Julia Garner. Benedict Wong is in this movie. Yeah,
Alden Aaron is in the movie. Amy Adagan is in
the movie. So like some some really good character actors,
some really good people who have range the But like
I said, the premise of you know this just all

(38:11):
American town and then all.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Of oh, I don't know anything about the movie. Okay, yeah,
I don't know anything, not not a single plot point
of the movie.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Well, we will save it for next week's pot that
after we both see it. I'm just incredibly intrigued by it.
And Zach Krieger has shown that he is able to
put my button a seat at a theater.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
So a lot of reviewers that I follow got to
see it last night and said, yeah, I believe the
hype Craiger did it again. This might even be better
than Barbarian. Like the people that I follow, who who
I've trusted this entire time, have said it's it's another hit.

(39:06):
Jordan Pele was upset that he didn't get this movie.

Speaker 1 (39:10):
Oh wow. I mean Kreeger was also an executive producer
on one of our other favorite films of the year
and Companion. Yes, So I mean this guy just knows
how to do it Weapons. You know, unlike Barbarian, he's
also producing this, he wrote it, he's directing it, and
he's producing Weapons, where he just wrote and directed Barbarian.

(39:35):
The cool bit of news from Weapons is Zach Kreeger
is also the composer of the film.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
And so I didn't know he did music.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
Yeah, so like this is this is a Zach Krieger production, Yeah,
which is pretty cool. Hopefully it will lead us into
a fun resident evil movie next year from Kreeger as well.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
I'm I'm trepidacious about that only because because and not
because I don't have faith in Zach. But it's just
because I really liked Welcome to Raccoon City. I don't
know what people didn't like about that movie. I thought
that was like a perfect representation of the video game
on film.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
Yeah, No, it was really good. It's just I just
is what it is, you know.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Yeah, but yeah, it.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
Should be a great horror movie to see in theaters
as well.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
I look forward to it. I'm seeing I already have
my ticket for it on Thursday.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
It's it's gonna be awesome. Any other movies that you
can think of that are that are coming out that
you're excited about in the next week or two.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
I don't know enough about it. I do know I
I could have seen it this past week for the
AMC Screen Unseen. It's a movie called Sketch and it
stars Darcy Cardon and Tony Halek. My only gripe with
the movie is that it is produced by Angel Studios,

(41:10):
which is the like uber Christian studio that not really
like the premises aren't like crazy, but the director just
showed up on the Corridor crew and he kind of
broke down the special effects of the movie and didn't

(41:32):
seem to have a ton of religious overtones. But and
that's fine. I'm not completely against religion, as you well know.
I'm just I don't like it being beat over my head,
which I feel like kind of understandable in today's day

(41:55):
and age. But I might go see that movie and
then Freak Your Friday also comes out this this weekend
as well. I only bring that up because I don't
remember which cinema team it is. But you know how
everybody has like their novelty popcorn bucket and drink thing.
Now theirs because it's Freak Your Friday, and it's a

(42:16):
like a body swap thing. Their drinks look like their
popcorn buckets, but the but the in the popcorn bucket
looks like yeah, So it's it's interesting. I like, I
would never buy most of these because like I don't
need most of them, but the some of these novelty

(42:39):
like popcorn buckets and everything, they're fun and like as
long as you get creative with it, like I am
sending out yours out on Thursday whenever, because I went
to go buy a box and they didn't. They were
out of the size that I needed. It's a little
too big for the boxes that they had, so I

(43:01):
have to wait for them to restock that. And I'm
going to have your your Superman newspaper box out shortly
because I think it's kind of awesome. And also I
packed a little extra thing in there for you as well.
I think you'll appreciate.

Speaker 1 (43:18):
If it's a severed head.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
I'm going to be very disappointed. I thought you were
going to say you would be very happy, but I
I am. Yeah, but a lot of fun I imagine
they're probably gonna do. Like, dude, I'm so upset that
I don't live in la and for this reason only.
There's a together pop up coming up. Oh and they're

(43:41):
selling the saws off from the movie. Wow, they're selling
like five of them, and I obviously I can't afford them,
but it doesn't mean I don't want them. I want
the green and orange saws off that was featured in
the movie. And it comes like this beautiful case and
it comes with like a like a like a piece

(44:02):
of the script.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
Stupid. But yeah, I've got a.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
Couple of movies that I'm looking forward to, uh coming
to theaters in the next couple of weeks. Uh wants
to be announced that it's it's going to release nationwide
this month, there's just not a set date yet. And
that's Tapa Wingo, which it stars Billy Zane and John
Header or the Heater. Uh and John Ratzenberger's in it,

(44:34):
Chris Gethard's in it. It looks pretty interesting. It's about
this odd ball who wants to be a mercenary.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (44:43):
It looks pretty funny. It's it definitely has a Napoleon
dynamite vibe to it.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
Okay, so, uh that.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
Should be interesting coming out next week, Red Soanja comes out.
It's in the Cone in the Barbarian Universe.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
Yeah, Sonia, Yeah didn't I.

Speaker 1 (45:06):
Yeah, Nobody Too comes out on the fifteenth. Looking forward,
super excited about that.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
And then towards the end of the month, you've got
Caught Stealing the Roses and the Toxic Avenger all coming
out on the twenty ninth of August.

Speaker 2 (45:23):
So uh, I'll probably see I'm definitely gonna see Caught
Stealing and probably Toxic Avenger. Maybe the Roses. No, that's
a comedy. It's it's comedy, So I mean you should
support comedies whenever they come to theater, just for guse Yeah, it's.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
Got Jay Roach and Andy Samberg, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate McKinnon,
Olivia Coleman.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Baron the lead there, Olivia Coleman.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
Yeah, Judy Gottwa. It's got a lot of great actors
in it. So I'm excited about that. But so that's uh,
that's August. Some good movies coming out, Please get to
your theaters obviously. What about some TV now Drew, Yeah,
any interesting TV for you, sir.

Speaker 2 (46:09):
I finished this season nine, eight or nine of Rick
and Morty. It was fine. They kind of resolved some
of the Rick with his wife dead wife thing on that.
I Bob's has been interesting this year because it's the
episodes haven't been coming out as frequently, so it's hard

(46:31):
to get in a true groove with the show. I
have a I don't know how much longer they're going
to be running the show. I actually have a feeling
that they're going to be winding down here soon because
I feel like it's getting harder and harder for them
to produce the show. Sure, but I was looking forward

(46:52):
to Alien Earth, which we spoke about earlier. I don't
recall what time a wit Day comes out.

Speaker 1 (47:03):
Me believe it's next week, Yeah, I believe.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
So Conan just had Timothy on the show. On Conan
O'Brien needs a film. My god, it's so good.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
Every time he and Conan get together, it's.

Speaker 2 (47:18):
Just he busts his balls. He's like, like Conan even
brought it up. He's like the only two people who
who come on this show and kind of take over
the show are are Timothy Elephant and Kevin Nealan. Yeah,
and they that makes sense, and they just they are
able to break Conan down in a way that nobody

(47:38):
else can except for maybe like Martin Short. And he
also has a ton of fun with h with Paul
Rudd too. Paul Rudd is usually able to kind of
take over the interview as well. But maybe I was
as good as as uh as Timothy.

Speaker 1 (47:58):
So yes, Alien Earth's first episode ODE will premiere August twelfth,
so we are exactly a week away from Alien Earth.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (48:09):
This is ah a prequel. It is set in the
alien Universe in the year twenty twenty, twenty one, twenty,
and we're gonna see Noah Holly's vision of the alien
universe during that time.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
That guy's good. That guy's really good. He did Fargo. Yeah,
what else did he? Legion? Legion? Legion's so good. I
need to rewatch that show. Super underrated. Did he do
deb No that that that's not him. No, he did Bone.

Speaker 1 (48:52):
He was a guy on He was a writer and
an executive producer at Bones. I mean it ran forever.

Speaker 2 (48:58):
Yeah, my sister watches that a ton.

Speaker 1 (49:02):
But uh yeah, he's got a great uh uh greet filmography.
But what I'm excited about is seeing the the first
like synthetics come around. How they're going to.

Speaker 2 (49:23):
Uh kind of.

Speaker 1 (49:26):
Dive into humanity and where, you know, are we going
to see the aliens? You know we've already you know,
the freaking xenomorpho is on the front cover of the
damn posters. So they're gonna come around at some point.
And then you know, we know we're getting wailan Utani Corporation.

(49:48):
Uh like it. It's gonna give us a lot of
backstory and from every review I've read, they basically said,
this is way better than we anticipated and way better
than and it has any right to be.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
So I've been super excited about it for a while,
obviously because I am the way I am. I haven't
really interacted with any of the existing promotion for it, sure,
but it's definitely a movie that a show that is
firmly in.

Speaker 1 (50:20):
My in your wheelhouse.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
Yes, so I will be watching a week to week.
When do you when did you say? That comes out?

Speaker 1 (50:28):
We get the first two episodes never Land in Mister
October on August twelfth, so a week from the day
we are recording on Tuesday. Man, it's gonna be good.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
It's good, I mean, Timothy Olfan and anything. I'm gonna
watch it. Yeah, gonna watch it.

Speaker 1 (50:45):
So that's That's my big thing on TV right now
is waiting for Alien Earth.

Speaker 2 (50:53):
Again.

Speaker 1 (50:54):
You and I are both huge fans of that franchise.

Speaker 2 (50:58):
And especially what it's been beening lately. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
Really loved Romulus, thought it was a stellar movie.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
In fact, so upon like second and third watches that
movie as really it got better.

Speaker 1 (51:14):
Yeah, So definitely excited about that. My only other TV
news would be King of the Hill is back in
our lives in twenty twenty five, Drew, And you know.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
What, I watched the first episode and it's fantastic. Its
like it feels like the same world that we've already
been a part of.

Speaker 1 (51:31):
Yeah, you know this this the show went off in
two thousand and nine, so it's been sixteen years since
this show.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
And last year basically a cliffhanger because they not even
a cliffhanger. They it just ended and we got like
no resolution from it. And it really sucked because that
show was like seemingly still just in a good groove
and it just ends. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (52:01):
You know what I noticed is in starting to think
back about the original run of the show from ninety
seven to two thousand and nine, you know, Dale was
really ahead of his time.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
Fuck sand just shah. I mean, I do carry pocketsand
to this day.

Speaker 1 (52:22):
Yeah, I mean, it's the only way to defend yourself
in this gun forsake in the world.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
Honestly, it's not a bad idea.

Speaker 1 (52:28):
Yeah, but no, I'm super stoked to dive into this.
Every episode of season fourteen is available on Hulu now,
so you can binge it if you want. I'm taking
a different approach. I'm going to watch just an episode
or two a week and try to digest it over time,
because I think that's how TV is meant to be watched.
I'm not a huge binge fan myself, at least in

(52:50):
a first viewing. Okay, what I do rewatches, that's a
different thing, but my first watches, I always try to
spread it out over time.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
I'm probably gonna get a done this week, if I'm
being completely honest, just because, like it's it is a
comfort show. I watched it a ton. It was one
of those shows that had constant reruns that was always
very fun because, like the show is also ubiquitous, you
don't really have to catch it on a certain episode

(53:21):
or during Like It's episode to episode is just like
its own thing, and it's it is just such a
comfort show.

Speaker 1 (53:33):
It is. It definitely is.

Speaker 2 (53:34):
Obviously we have new voices for Dale because Dale, the
original voice actor for him has passed away. I believe
we get Jonathan Joss throughout the entire season. I believe
we finished his entire audio record.

Speaker 1 (53:47):
He did his recordings before he passed.

Speaker 2 (53:51):
Rust and peace once again to Jonathan Joss, Love you,
John Redcorn.

Speaker 1 (53:57):
It's it's good to see this.

Speaker 2 (53:59):
Show go back on. Well, it's just also good to
have a Mike Judge show on TV again. I agreed.
I think I doubt there's been a ton of time
since we've had another Mike Judge show on well.

Speaker 1 (54:12):
I mean, they had a Beavis and Butthead revival.

Speaker 2 (54:14):
I don't know if that's seems yeah, well, I don't
know if it's still on. I know two people who
wrote for that. I know Eden Dranger and David Borie
wrote on the new series of Beavis and Butthead so uh.
And there are two comedy writers I really love. I

(54:35):
don't really like Beavis and Buthead, but I like those
two comedy writers.

Speaker 1 (54:38):
Yeah, I was, I was. I was never a huge
Beavis and butt heead guy. But last thing that I
watched of Mike Judge that I really loved it was
probably a toss up between Silicon Valley and Tales from

(55:00):
the Tour Bus.

Speaker 2 (55:02):
Those were both really Tales from the Tour Bus.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
So Tales from the Tour Bus is UH an animated
docu series UH from Mike Judge that aired on Cinemax,
And it's just a biographical, oral history of musicians in
specific genres, and it's just used like rotoscoping and cell animation. Uh,

(55:29):
it's it's very difficult to explain what it is, but
it's pretty awesome, like uh, you know James Brown, p
Fonker on there, you know, stuff like that. So, uh,
it's two seasons, eight episodes of season Uh, really worth
the time it was Whalen Jennings had an episode, More's

(55:51):
Day in the Time had an episode.

Speaker 2 (55:56):
Episodes. Uh, I want to know you know you yeah what.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
But but yeah, so that's really like I said those
Silicon Valley was really fucking good when it was and
the last couple of seasons were a little lackluster in
my opinion.

Speaker 2 (56:17):
But yeah, but I think like they did what they
could with the show, especially with like Whenever TJ kind
of went a little off the rails, but they really
dug into like Amanda Crue being a part of that
show in the later seasons where she was became more
regular on the show, which I liked Amanda cru just
because I loved her in Sex Drive. So I'm yeah,

(56:44):
I like my judge. Mike Judges makes good TV. King
of the Hill is probably his best work in my opinion,
even though he did like stuff like Idiocracy and which.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
Is the biggest self burned to American society ever.

Speaker 2 (57:03):
Especially the new renders for the add on to the
White House just is there's just gonna be a whole
in the side of the building eventually.

Speaker 1 (57:14):
So yeah, that's uh, that's what I got for TV.
You got anything else?

Speaker 2 (57:19):
Uh? ESPN bought NFL Network, which is just makes like
the world just like why why did why? Why do
we have Why does everything have to come down to
like five companies? Why is everything in the world to
come down to that.

Speaker 1 (57:40):
If I don't get my Scott Hansen in my seven
hours of commercial free football.

Speaker 2 (57:46):
You're not gonna have commercial free football. You enjoy it
while it lasted, it's not happening. Nothing's ever commercial free.
The fact that that was as commercial free for as
long as it was, I mean, but also that explains
why Rich Eisen is back with ESPN here coming soon,

(58:08):
which I enjoyed his kind of freedom over at the
NFL Network and then Roy basically because it was just
his show he ran. I mean, hopefully they don't put
anything on him where he has to do anything specific
because Rich Eisen, if I'm like I listened to two
sports people, I listened to rich Eisen, and I listened

(58:29):
to Katie Nolan because rich Eisen gets serious with it
but also knows how to fun and knows how to
have fun. And Katie Nolan just doesn't give a shit
but knows a shit done about sports. And then also
like Minachimes, Mina comes is kind of the best. But
uh yeah, but that everything has to be the same

(58:51):
network anymore, Yeah, because then you look like different views.
It's all the same view.

Speaker 1 (58:57):
Oh, it's all much, but you know it is what
it is. Nothing we can do about it, unfortunately, and
enjoy your red zone will at last.

Speaker 2 (59:05):
Nick, did you see the college football polls? I coaches
poles did? Where's where? Where? Where's Michigan? Where? Where? Where
is that that team up north? As one team refuses
us to call us by our name?

Speaker 1 (59:20):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (59:21):
Where are they? Because I know Ohio is number two?
And you know what, sure, let them let them be
number two. Let him be number two all year. They're
going to face off against Texas in in in week one.
You know what, even if they lose, let them keep
that too until November and November twenty seventh, I believe, Uh,

(59:46):
let them keep that too. I don't even care how
many games Michigan wins. You know what, We're going to
turn our m upside down and make it another w
in November.

Speaker 1 (59:57):
So, I mean, it's it's the cast usual characters in
your top twenty five. Texas is leaning the way at
number one preseason understanding team. I mean, honestly, if you
look at the top twenty five, it's Big ten and
SEC with a few others mixed in. Is what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
They'd make them half of the league.

Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
Yeah, You've got Ohio State and Penn State at two
and three, Georgia at four, Notre Dame at five. Then
you've got Clemson, Oregon, Bama at eight, LSU at nine.

Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
What did Bama do last season? They want them getting out?

Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
You got the U at ten out of nowhere, Arizona
State at eleven.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
No, Arizona State had a great season last year. They did.
They had a great season.

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
I think they deserve a top twenty, but not a
top fifteen.

Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
I don't know, man, They're their coach is coaching the
shit out of him right now. He is on top
of the Like recruiting right now is like I only
I know this because I live and I basically live
in Tempe, and.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Well, all I'm saying is I would put Michigan above
I would put them at eleven before I put Arizona State,
Illinois or South Carolina ahead of them. The hype, the
preseason hype for South Carolina is a ludicrous. You know,
the guy that watches SEC football every weekend of the
freaking football season, South Carolina is overrated at thirteen.

Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Max Brown, who does cover a lot of the ACC
for CW. He's usually one of one of their broadcasters.
He recently obviously he does cause a lot of the
ACC games, but he broke down the quarterback of South
Carolina and said, this guy could be that like the
top of the country.

Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
Ten other people on the on the field with him
at the same time.

Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
He can't do it all, know, But Illinois. Illinois had
a great season last year as well, and they're I
think they beat Michigan last year too. I think they're
a record right now. Also, like they're standing feels warranted
for me, Like I'm going to accept it because like

(01:02:21):
right now, Michigan, we're looking up. We don't even know
who our quarterback is going to be. It's could be
Bryce Underwood, who is our freshman who costs us like
ten million dollars. That was more than that.

Speaker 1 (01:02:35):
I think it's sixteen million.

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
It could be him, and if it is him, great,
but if it's one of our transfers or one of
our upperclassmen. I believe in our defense enough. Our defense
is always going to be top three defense and our
offensive line is always going to be like a top
five offensive line. So I believe in Michigan wholeheartedly. Obviously

(01:03:01):
I have my reasons, but we've never looked better. We've,
like the program itself, has never looked better.

Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Well, all I know is that there are nine SEC
teams in the top twenty five, which is absolutely ludicrous
if you look just out the top twenty five. My
favorite stat of the year is that Oklahoma stop starts
outside the top twenty five for the first time in
like two decades.

Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Michigan meets them week two in Norman.

Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
So Oklahoma is twenty six and the Zoo, my team
of choice, is number twenty seven.

Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
It's going to be interesting seeing Michigan down to Norman.
That's going to be a weird, weird, weird site because
it's our first ever SEC road game. UH game against
true SEC road game is against Oklahoma because we've based
out Alabama at a neutral site before, but this is

(01:04:03):
our first time dealing with an SEC crowd.

Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
We've got a big eight crowd. Yeah, we've got twenty
five days until college football is upon us. So it's
happening month this month. Yeah, super excited about that. Anything
else sports related, sir.

Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
Get into the let's get into it. Let's get rip
the band aid real quick. Honestly, we're not happy. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
We talked at length about SummerSlam last week and went
over our picks. Uh, we got a lot of them, right,
we got.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Some of them. That last thing on the board did
not have.

Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
The last thing on the board. No, this is what
I'm going to say about Summer Slam. It was a
okay pl that had splashes of brilliance, but for the
most part art pretty mid. It was pretty mid.

Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
It was, to use the term of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
Yeah, it was a minor league WrestleMania is what it was.

Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Night one was except for the Gunther CM Punk match.

Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
Yeh, which Gunther carried him for fifteen of the thirty minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
I thought he he looks I thought Punk really looks
great in that match, especially whenever like he was really
targeting the shoulder and everything of Gunther. I thought that
was a very convincing match myself personally.

Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
Well, I would like to stay for the record that
I did call the money in the bank passion on
this podcast last.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
I believe we both did. I believed so not to steal,
not to try and steal your Thunderbix. I've had this
in mind. Then you're right. He landed that that lion
salt too clean. I didn't see a knee buckle.

Speaker 1 (01:05:54):
Yeah, so it Uh. Who I feel bad for in
that entire situation is La Night.

Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
I I was okay with La La Knight was not
in on it.

Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
He got he got hosed.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Yes, he came out last night. He did. I did
watch raw. I'm sorry. I couldn't do it.

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
I couldn't bring myself and we'll get to why I
could not bring myself to in a moment.

Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
But I was. I was on Twitter beforehand, and I
one of my friends said, La Night sucks. He also
doesn't like carrying across too so like take came with
a grain of salt. He's a wrestling fans, just like
we're all all out of have opinions. Some people I
don't personally like L. A. Knight. But what I like
about L. A. Knight is his ambition. He has been

(01:06:42):
a worker for a very long time. He has been
trying to build himself up in WWE since he got there.
But he was trying his best to get there. But
he was also doing a ton of acting, like tiny
tiny acting jobs, commercial jobs, infomercial jobs before this. He
just wants to like he's a worker. He's a hard worker.
So I like L. A. Knight the person. I don't

(01:07:05):
know if I like him the person, but I like
the ambition that the guy he plays ambition that plays L. A. Knight.
So yeah, of course, like if he if that, if
he was not in on it, that really sucks. He
did have a match with with Rawlins last night. They
got thrown out because punk of course. Uh so, yeah,

(01:07:25):
I I completely agree with you and in feeling bad
for for l A Night.

Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
But.

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
God, it was so good. Seth Rowlins cashing in the
ruse of the like he has the steel of the
century or what was the cash in of the century
or of the century, and now the rules of the century.
I mean, he's he's one of the best to ever
do it. He'll he'll he's on a mount He's like

(01:07:54):
one and two of the Mount Rushmore of wrestling. Basically, Yeah,
he's real good.

Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
H Some matches were better than others.

Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
You Alexa Charlotte match was pretty good with with the
judgment day. I liked that match, and sadly enough, that
was like the best match on the on the night
until the Gunther versus Punk match.

Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
Yeah, the first match of the night was okay. I
gave it a seven out of ten.

Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
Yeah. I think we were both very like we were messaging,
especially about that match. This match just feels okay.

Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
Yeah, there was nothing like super special about it. I
thought that the Sammy's A and Krry and Cross match
was not very good. I don't know. I think Carry
and Cross deserves more. I think he should probably head
over to AW.

Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
To be honest with you, I don't think there's room.
Maybe not.

Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
The Tis Strat and j Pargill match was mid Like
we've been saying, there were good moments and it felt rushed.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
At times. Yeah, but people were criticizing that match as
well online and I didn't have the same type of
criticisms that they did they. Yeah, of course, like you
always wish for like no, no botches or anything like that.
But like, wrestling's hard and doing it in front of
like sixty thousand people is even harder. So I felt

(01:09:30):
like they did an adequate job obviously, Like you have
two greener wrestlers, someone who's like they had a title
match at WrestleMania against Charlotte and they they won. Tiffany did.
And but Jade isn't like a strong wrestler. She's a presence.
That's that's what she brings to wrestling. She she she's

(01:09:54):
undeniable looking at her, but.

Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
In the technical skill just isn't there.

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Yeah, but the thing is she she almost warrants the
spotlight even as a singles person because she is just
that impressive. To see whether or not she can work
is a different story. I feel like Tiffany can work,
but she needs a certain person. She she almost needs
a ring general in there with her, and that's when

(01:10:24):
she brings out her best. But and I think Tiffany
has the ability to do that in the future. I
don't think she's a leader yet because she's still like
twenty three, twenty four. Yeah, so yeah, it was most
of the night one was was okay. Night two was
was great until it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
I thought that the leading off with that triple threat
match with Naomi Ria and EEO was a perfect opportunity
and that match did not disappoint.

Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
No great match, just mid end. I don't I don't
need a roll up. I don't need to roll up
on a on a major pay per view I like.
And that's how samm Uzain won too, was like a
roll up. I don't need a roll up. I need
like a definitive win at a giant event like SummerSlam.

Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
Yeah. The the tables, ladders and chairs match was chaotic.
It was real fun to watch. Candice Leray got put
through a ladder, which was so fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
My favorite thing about that was Johnny Gargano later that
night posted a couple of things but he said we're
parents of a three year old, but then also said, no,
I did not sleep on the couch last night. We
were in a hotel. There was no couch. So great,

(01:11:53):
Uh No, it was.

Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
It was chaos that match. When Montese four jumped from
the the buckle, the turn buckle, onto the ladder and
just all hell broke loose.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
It was great.

Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
It was It was everything I wanted out of a
twelve person tag.

Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Match when Champa was hanging from and we all thought
we all thought like, was it Nathan Fraser or was
it Axiom who was going to do like the edge
to Jeff Hardy thing? It was Axiom And and he
pulls himself up yeah, and then takes a kick to
the face doing doing basically a backflip off of the

(01:12:35):
springboard backflip. Yea, god, it was so like that sequence
itself was perfect. That's a it's a it's almost an
n XT level like act.

Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
It was that would That was probably my favorite match
to watch up to that point. Like, it was a
ton of fun. Becky Lynch versus Lyra was fine. There
was some really great moments of that match. I didn't
need Bailey coming.

Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Out, No, but she's insured herself into every single one
of their battles, so if she was.

Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
Gonna come out, I needed something to come from it.
I thought Bailey was going to turn heel, which I
would have been fine with because I think her character
needs something new. Uh, But again, it was fine. It
technically it was a lot of fun. H We got
to see a lot of crowbars and Kindo sticks and

(01:13:29):
zip ties and a lot of Kindo sticks, a lot
of kndosticks. My biggest disappointment of the night match wise
was the solo SoC at Jacob, But you match agreed.

Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
I thought those two could have just blown it out
of the water and they just didn't w a good match.
Yeah they did. They had an okay a match, but
it was just you have two guys like Jacob who
can do anything and everything, and and Solo.

Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
Plastic Moon salt off the top of the fucking cage
after ripping his hand out of a freaking shackle.

Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Yeah he's he's a monster and a werewolf.

Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
Yeah, samoan werewolf.

Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
Uh it was It was an okay match. I wish
that they would have really let them go off.

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
They should have let it breathe. They should have let
it breathe.

Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
That's also I didn't need the theft or Jimmy Usso
coming out.

Speaker 1 (01:14:29):
No, we knew, we knew it was going to happen,
but we didn't give me more than a seven and
a half minute match with these guys. My favorite moment
of the night, though, did come from the aj Styles
Dominic Mysterio match. What part we got the double Eddie Guerrero.

Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
Yes, see around. His head was so hit the mat and.

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Then threw the chair to AJ fell onto the mat
and then AJ put his head in the chair and
fellow the mat was like cz while he was on
the mat.

Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
It was so good.

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
It was like the perfect Like that entire match was
a love letter to Eddie Guerrero.

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
Oh my god. And the then gear. Yeah, it was
so beautiful. I saw it. I was like, that is like,
I'm not I would I didn't grow up like an
Eddie guy. I just like he didn't resonate with me.
I've I've watched his stuff since. It's fantastic. He was
a great worker, but he wasn't who I was watching
at the time. But like people loved him. People loved him,

(01:15:36):
and like he means a lot to a lot of people.
And I think like the tributes, especially with him coming
out in the Low Writer too as well going through
the crowd with the like him doing the terrible shimmy
because AJ Styles is not meant to shimmy like that.

Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
I believe his mom hair made the list.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
So oh, we haven't talked about the list in a
long time. He just made the list.

Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
The only good contribution that Chris Jericho has ever made
and I can't.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
I can't say that because he brought me a lot
of joy in the nineties, in early two thousands, like
he came before the millennium.

Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
Yeah, he did watch you, Jay, But I thought I
that moment in the dirty dab Aj styles match alone,
that match was just fun. I enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
And you know what, Sina versus Cody was a really
good match. That was just a good emotional match.

Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
The way that they pulled off Sena's entrance when it's
just the white lettering and the black bat round and
then all of a sudden, all that color comes up
and it's John Cena. It's it's the real John Cena

(01:17:08):
that we've known for twenty five years coming out.

Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
And people just want to cheer him. That's all people
want to do. That's all people want to do. Cheer
for him.

Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
Now, wwe should have called an audible there. I think
both you and I talked about it. That crowd was
undeniably behind John Cena the entire match. Yeah, Like when
John Cena chases Cody under the runway and comes up

(01:17:40):
through that elevator with the light on him and he's
just carrying Cody and just onto the ramp. That match
should have ended with John Cena staying the undisputed w
W E G.

Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
I wanted him to retire with it. I think we
talked about it last week.

Speaker 1 (01:17:58):
I talked myself into it.

Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
We wanted him to retire with it and then then
just have a new belt that they have to unveil,
and John Cena goes out champion yep, as he should,
because I know we mentioned a couple of people earlier,
but John, like Seth, they're just yeah, they're just two

(01:18:20):
different types of wrestlers. And John is like the entertaining
and and Seth is just the skill like of everything.

Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
I mean, it was just fun watching John Cena have
fun again.

Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
He was having fun.

Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
He was having fun when he went out and took
Caliburton's and he gave him the you can't see me
right before he took it and then beat the hell
out of Cody with it. That was great. We got
a five NFL shuffle. We got so many AA's that
I lost count like. It was a good, if not

(01:18:58):
great match, and it was a motional and it hit
all the moments that it was supposed to. And then
WWE ruined everything.

Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
They took a step backwards into the Vince era. Basically, ye,
break in case of an emergency, Brock, but this time
we know he's a human trafficker alleged, let's say, uh
for legal reasons. Uh, but yeah, it's just it. It
was the biggest dumb boy move. And also the the

(01:19:30):
night before they started, they canceled doing uh press conferences.
Why are you afraid to do a press conference? Is
there something that you don't want people to talk about
because it's something prescient? Uh and and horrible and the
fact that you're complicit in it now makes you uh yeah,
like what you only cancel a press conference because it's

(01:19:54):
something bad and you don't want to talk about it. Yeah,
don't be a fucking pussy. So we just uh like,
what do you what do you? How do you feel
about his trafficking allegations? Well, if you give us a
straight answer and you said, well, our legal department said
he is clear, well I'll take that answer over fucking

(01:20:18):
nothing nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
Well, and then I'll take it even a step further.
Fucking Triple H gets on the mic and the post
show and basically blames it on Sena that Brock is
coming back, like Sina wanted to face him. You're the
chief creative officer, Like you get to make those decisions.

Speaker 2 (01:20:40):
Yeah, It's like, I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
Care from a legal standpoint if he's cleared to be
with the company. From a moral and ethical standpoint, he's
still named in a lawsuit multiple times on human trafficking.

Speaker 2 (01:20:53):
And you have three daughters. Yeah, you have three daughters, bro,
So like.

Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
Don't don't give me that bullshit like this. This made
it so I I didn't have the stomach to watch
Raw last night because I was still so furious at
this company. Like, and the warning signs have always been there.

Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
Yeah, a moral company.

Speaker 1 (01:21:18):
Yeah, they still do business with fucking Saudi Arabia every
chance they get. Uh. And I bitch about that every
fucking time. Uh. But for some reason, this just crossed
a line for me, Like you you can't bring that
monster back.

Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
I'm sorry, Like you know you brought him back and
just act like it never happened. Yep, forget all about him,
Like if you if you do that cool like like
treat him like Travis Scott. Yep, it's that guy, didn't
that that guy didn't ruin the WrestleMania uh, the main

(01:21:54):
event in WrestleMania neither did Uh did brock lesnar Let's
just erase them from history? Yep, please, I just.

Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
It's upsetting for sure. What could have been a great
end to a great night two ended up just souring
the entire fucking weekend for me.

Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
Yeah, so how was How was the family trip? Though?

Speaker 1 (01:22:22):
Didn't have to go because I was sick? So what
happens when you are on the toilet with a trash
can in front of you for four straight days? You
don't get You don't get to go to the water
park with your family.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
They don't want you there either, No, No, I don't think.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
The employees of the water park would have wanted me there.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Now the employees of a hotel don't want you there.

Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
No. So so yeah, that was Summer Slam w w
E for me at least, is in a very weird place.
I really don't know what to think about it right now,
and I'll just have to come to terms on whether
or not I want to watch it again. It may
may need to start being aw time for me.

Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
I don't know. They're probably not that much better as
far as like their dealings and stuff, But we'll just.

Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Keep it at that. Okay, can I watch Can I
watch t and A?

Speaker 2 (01:23:23):
Yes, though they are part of w W, basically they're
about to be bought. Fuck. No, TNA is a great product.
Tena is a great product. I actually do really enjoy
TINA And the fact that they're back on television now
is even better because they were kind of like off
for like a year. I record TNA every week. My

(01:23:43):
girls the inspiration are on there. Uh, Cassie Lee and
uh what what is? It's not Billy Ka anymore. It's
Jesse Eisenberg's only Uh Jesse k Jesse McKay and and
Cassie Lee formerly Peyton Royce and Billy Uh uh from

(01:24:12):
the The Iconics, which was genuinely one of my favorite
teams in wrestling history. Uh. They were not like great wrestlers,
but nobody was more annoying. Nobody could be more annoying
on the MIC and this attack team champions and I
think that they they won the tag team Championships at
WrestleMania one year, and that was just such a perfect

(01:24:35):
moment because I love those two girls so much. I
wish they were part of I wish they had been
back for the Royal Rumble because they they kind of
premiered back at in TNA around the time of the
Royal Rumble, was like, yeah, they're gonna be surprise entrants
and we're gonna get you can look, but you don't touch,
and then nothing. No, that's that's uh, that's uh. That's

(01:25:00):
Nicky Bella man. Becky went into Nicki last night about Sina,
which was one thing that you're not supposed to talk about. Ah,
so that was interesting. Katie Nolan actually commented on that
She's like, my two friends are in the ringbuse She's
she's interviewed both Nicky and Becky. She was at Raw

(01:25:24):
last night and today on casual She's like, yeah, Becky
brought up something that we were told explicitly on Casuals
not to bring up With nick Bella. She's like, I'm
going to justify it, but then just not wanting to
get into it on my show or any other show,
and wait for it to come out on Monday because

(01:25:46):
I don't know. All right, Nick, I don't gut anything
else I've done. Nick Where can they find you.
