Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome back to us the podcast exclusively for those who
would rather frame Arianna ground for the er Optimist Prime
for a Massacre, where your.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Host as always I'm Nick, I'm Andres, and once again
I'm confused.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
I figured in in response to John Cena being the
seventeen time world heavyweight Champion forever who was going to
ruin wrestling forever, which we will talk about, this is
gonna have a feeling, this is gonna be a WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
We're gonna start off. We're gonna start off with.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
But I figured I would go with a semi quote
from Peacemaker when John Econmos frames Peacemaker's dad for the
massacre at Gotcha, and Peacemaker gives him a list of
individuals he could have framed instead, two of which were
arians from Yes.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
The most impressive thing about that that entire scene is
that's all just like mostly one take, and it was
just John Sena listing as many people as possim. Steve
ag had to just real and fictional fiction to just
sit there and just not break because God forbid, if
you like. I think they did add some cuts in there,
(01:43):
but I mean he he went on for a while
I think they kicked that camera on him for a
little bit. Ever, I didn't rewatch the first season because
the second season coming out relatively soon.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
I think it's August.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Actually, I mean it's gonna happen during his we can
talk about it. I mean John Cena is the WWE
champion and he'll probably be holding it and doing honestly,
probably a Paul Rudd level of advertising for his movies
when going on talk shows where he doesn't talk about
(02:16):
the subject at all, but it's still there, yes, which
is the funny. Like Gause, Paul Rudd was on the
Tonight Show and he was there to promote Death of
a Unicorn and they didn't get to it, and John
was They ended it with he's Paul Rudd is older
(02:37):
than John Stewart and how unfair that is. But and
then John was like, you know, we were supposed to
talk about Death of a Unicorn. And then the movie
with Tim Robinson. I can't remember the name of it,
and he's like, it's all right because it's the same
thing with him on Conan. He never actually actually he
(03:00):
never mentioned the thing he was there to promote. But
he'll be like, there'll be plenty of peacemaker stuff. Yeah,
hell yeah, oh yeah, he'll he'll just I don't know,
maybe I don't know how he's going to approach that
he's going to ruin wrestling.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Yes, No, My favorite part about that scene was the
lead up, or was the ending of him giving the list.
He just looks at Steve Agy and goes, shut the
fuck up and listen, man, I'm giving you a list
of people you could have done. It's right up there.
It's right up there with Vigilante in the prison. And
(03:40):
he goes, let's each say something we're grateful for that
black people have contributed to American culture.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
I'll go first first, that that show was so well written.
And Daniel Brooks, I mean, Daniel Brooks is doing great
now too. She was funny in the Minecraft movie. I mean,
I like, I mean, we haven't really seen the guy
who played Digilante and much. I mean, of course, he's
(04:09):
probably done plenty, but it's just that we just have
not been familiar with. But I'm I'm excited for the
next season. Steve Agy's great. He just shows up in
things outside Dave.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
John Econamos is a great character.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Economos is such a great character. Well, I think he
actually voices somebody on the on the DC shows too.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
He both voices John Econamos on Great Your Commandos. Yeah,
because Waller and he are both in it.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
God, I mean the fact that he gets to work
directly with Viola Davis. Yeah, Steve ag Outside Dave, God,
I love Outside Dave. He's one of the better tear
sheary characters in New Girl.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, I almost as good as Rod Bunches.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Well, he's only in that one episode, but he's like,
he's memorable. Yes, uh my. One of my favorites is
definitely Justin Long uh Genslinger. Yes, so because like he
smiles when he cries, like, oh my god, it's I
(05:23):
love Justin Long. Just where how did we get here?
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Randy? Saint Randy, That's all I got to say. Or
branded Saint Randy. Excuse me?
Speaker 2 (05:34):
You like pussy?
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, you're not by geographic more like Glenn has Gary's.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Garcling in his mouth.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Uh an all male cast exclusively.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
If you if you haven't seen Zach and Maury Make
a Porno, it's actually brilliant, probably Kevin Smith's best movie.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
It's the genesis of the double Dutch rudder. I believe so.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
That that movie really is Can I can I get
a coffee black black football?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
That whole damn movie is perfect.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yes, it's it probably is. It's better than Clerks, and
I love Clerks.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
I love Clerks, but writing Clerks. It's also better than Maulrats,
which was my foray. First foray into Kevin Smith movies,
Dogma is mine. I don't know if I like it
better than Dogma, though I know.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
I mean that's that's the hard thing. Is Dogma actually
his best? Because I think it probably that's so perfectly
like constructed.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
The question becomes is Dogma actually a good movie? Or
am I just remembering it fondly because I loved it
twenty years ago.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
You're right, You're right, I should revisit it.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
I do have need to revisit it. I have it
on physical Blu ray.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Media same here, so I need to revisit. So, but
I do know Zach and Mary is great because I
have what that's actually one of the movies I've probably
watched the most as an adult. That's so. Yeah, if
you haven't watched Zach and Mary, how did we get
to Zach and Mary from well, Welcome, Welcome to.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Us and you've just witnessed our fifteen minute tangent at
the beginning of the episode. Let's let's let's let's actually
go straight into WrestleMania UH two night event. We made
a lot of predictions.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
What was your favorite match? I want to I want
to know that.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
My favorite match probably was a Hie at the top
of the main event of Night one went exactly how
I hoped it would go, not not just from a
prediction standpoint, but it was just a well thought out,
well performed story.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
UH.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
I agree, had one of the most magnificent entrances in
the history of wrestling. Seeing Punk's entrance was amazing. He
had living color there, live singing cult of personality, which amazing.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I love that. On Twitter I called them in living color, yes,
because it was my brothers were not there. I know
it was my fault because I was like, is it
living color? Is it in living color? And Michael Cole
did me wrong because he said in living color. So
I was like, Okay, it is in living color and yeah,
(08:37):
but no, it was great to see, I think. I
that's when Seth Frickin' Rollins graduated to Seth fucking Wrestleming,
especially after the result.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah, and then I will it's like a one A
one B situation. I think the the triple threat match
between EO Rhea and That's most fantastic.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
That was my favorite match hands I.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Think it was technically, like wrestling wise, the best match
of both.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
It was incredible. I like I It's not even because
EO one and I called it. That was just like
they worked off each other so perfectly, like like because
they they gave each other, like they all three of
them worked with each other individually so many times in
so many creative ways. And then at the end when
(09:28):
they honestly started putting together all those finishes and all
those near falls, and it was it was that best
match of.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
That rip tide off the off the second rope was
pretty fantastic. All of EO's skywork is always great. You know,
she is the genius of the sky and beyond it's
just a freak freaking athlete.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Like I mean, favorite get too, favorite gear of the
weekend too.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
That My favorite gear goes to SETH.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I love it. I love it because you've got to
wear all white, and we don't get that very much.
A lot of people were all white last night over
the weekend.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I will say that, you know, talking about finishers that
spear into a pedigree that yeah, that that second. It's
something that was pretty awesome.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
It's something that he has truly perfected, like he used
to put it on TV, and every once in a
while he will, especially if it's the main event of
the night, which seth rawlins. Usually if he is wrestling.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
He's the best.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
See literally is.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I will also give massive props to the L. A.
Knight Jacob FOTU match.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Great match, great.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
I thought it was done exceedingly well. I think uh
Knight had some great moments during the match.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
He didn't. It was it was a sorry I cut
you off, no go ahead, go ahead. They nobody came
off that match looking bad. L A. Knight looked fantastic
and a loss. I mean it was it was honestly,
that was Night one, right, yeah, yeah, because that's where
like almost all the simones won. Yes, yes, I mean honestly,
(11:13):
it was just the two I think.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Yeah, two out of three. Yeah, I mean, hey, you're
you're you're definitely in the Hall of Fame in baseball
for going two out of three every night, is all
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
It's a great family.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Some of my low lights, and I'd like to hear
your thoughts as well. Let's throw the Randy Orton match
out the window. That was just fan service, yeah, but
it was well done, good meaning fan service, yes, But
for those of you who don't know, we all believed
for a brief moment in time.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
And it's a good moment. But the thing is, have
you listened to the carry and Cross basically? Yes? Yes,
he said, I never asked for the match against but honestly,
I it would have made sense. He He's included himself
(12:07):
in so many storylines. Yea, he showed up on on
aj Styles's match, but he could have. Like hope, I
hope that pipe bomb does more good than harm because
at one point it did feel like it was a
straight shoot. And yeah, a part of it it looked.
(12:33):
It looked like a work for just a second, and
I imagine some of it is because Carrying Cross is
always working as hard as he can.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
He's professional, he is a consummate professional.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
But at the end, I think he got a little
worked up. And I hope, like I said, I hope
it does more good than harm because I like Carrying Cross.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
I hope I hope Triple H takes it to heart
and we see Carrion Cross get some good matches in
the near future, Like we could be working him into
big storylines because he's a great storyteller. Yeah, and he's
a technical beast in the ring.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
He is incredible on the mic. Yes, Scarlett is a
great manager.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
They had the heat during that interview was palpable.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
For a while. They took away his incredible entrance, the
thing that gave him aura and more recently, I think
I'm last week's raw. They gave him his entrance back.
They did, but why would you take off part of
the aura that like, that's what do you think? Bray
Wyatt kind of like he was incredible in the ring, Yeah,
(13:39):
but the thing that separates you from your peers is
what you bring by not doing anything or by by
speaking in your character. What do you bring? And one
of the things that they brought to the table was
that entrance that was a like it was like they
shot like saying and it was just like it had
(14:01):
so many moving parts. It looked great. Why take that
away unless he didn't want it? But I doubt, Like
I'd say, it's such a great interest it involves his wife,
which he would love to do because they they work together.
They and it's clear that they care about each other,
so I.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Think, and it's clear that they work well together.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah, I mean, I really do hope that this does
some good for him. So I would love for Randy too, honestly,
take it upon him this upcoming SmackDown.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Well, literally, we'll get to Randy in a moment. I
got spoilers for you.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Okay, I haven't watched any of her all yet.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
I know spoilers for you. Okay, we'll throw Randy Orton's
match out. Yes, we got Joe Hendry at Russellmania. It
was a fun fan service moment. My low lights would
include h Night one. I thought that the war Raiders
and New Day match was pretty terrible. I'm not gonna lie,
(15:10):
I it was. I there was no build up between
those tag teams. And I get that you've been building
the New Days as the heels of the tag team circuit.
I just think there was a better way to tell
(15:30):
the story and and the match was quick, and it
just wasn't impressive. And when you're talking about WrestleMania, where
one hundred and twenty five thousand people came to see
incredible you know, storylines end. I think you can do better.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
And my my thing is especially with this unfortunately, like
I can't who are who are the tag teams un Raw?
That's the that's the problem. Who are the tag teams
on Raw? And we have the war Raiders we have.
I want to say, there has to be one of
the Mexican I can say I'm Mexican, one of the
(16:10):
Mexican luchador teams. I believe right there's is Legato No
Logato's on SmackDown SmackDown? Is it the l w O
Are they on?
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yes? L WO is on Raw, Zelena is on SmackDown.
Zelena is the only one that crossed over.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Because Ray's on Raw and Ray and Ray has the
two guys Okay.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Dragon Lee and now Ray Phoenix.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Oh is Ray Phoenix officially l w oh.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
No pretty much? I mean he took over for Ray
in the Eland Americano fight, which was also a low light.
Like they ended that five minutes too soon. It was
starting to cook.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
They had to put together a match overnight. They had
to put it together a wrestle Maine a level match.
And the thing is with with Ray Phoenix Ray Phoenix
already does WrestleMania level stuff week to week, and Chad
Gable can go. Unfortunately, it's just I imagine safely they
(17:15):
weren't able to put together a more cohesive match and
so longer. I think we got what they could over
a short time because Ray got hurt on SmackDown on
Fridayday and they and they were scheduled to wrestle on
Saturday Saturday, so they I even said to my sister, right,
I was like, they had to be up until like
(17:37):
three or four in the morning trying to put together
this like as much as they could physically do together.
They had to been working their ass off.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
So I do give them credit for putting together a
match in that short time. It's just the circumstances were
not favorable for them.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
I think it worked enough because he is uh Phoenix
also does kick, so I imagine they and he has
that great kick off the off the rope where he
walks the rope, and that would make sense, especially with
what Chad Gable has been doing lately with that metal
plate in his mask. Yes, so I feel like that
was like the best end result. I just don't think
(18:18):
we got enough in between which is fine because, like
I said, I think they did good enough for what
they could do. Chad Gable had the moment of the
weekend that that I don't know what, I've never seen
it before. It was like a Syenton but it was
(18:40):
extra I don't I don't know what it was.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
I don't know what it's called.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
It's I've never seen it before. And I was like,
even Michael Cole made a big deal about it. I
was just like, that was insane. So yeah, I didn't
hate with like I said that, with the tag team
on what's it called Raw Unraw? Unfortunately it is just
(19:05):
the New Day right now. I think they really needed well.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
With jd Out. You know, the Judgment Day doesn't have
a tag team in the men's division.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
So yeah, because you're you're pushing both Dom and Finn
is a solo acts right now within the Judgment Day, I.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Mean, you could get Carlito and Finn right.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I don't know why.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Somehow Carlito's still alive.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
I don't know how why Carlito doesn't get to wrestle
on television doesn't make sense to.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Me because he's old.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
I mean, I wouldn't mind watching the Carlito match. I
don't like I would see.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
I want to see Carlito and our Truth as a
tag team is all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
There are two very ridiculous uh just wrestlers.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Super ridiculous people. I think, uh the the it say
what you will. I'm just gonna come out and say it.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
I I.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Think they wasted storytelling with how Night two ended. I
think we all knew John Cena was gonna win. That's fine,
It's WrestleMania. Yeah, it's WrestleMania. You have done a bad Yeah.
You have built this storyline of John Cena turning against
the fans, becoming a heel being with the Rock, going
(20:26):
for his seventeenth World Championship against Cody Rhoades, who has
gone super babyface in the company, and you ended with
Travis Scott coming out at with with a fake hardcore belt.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
You know hare. I like every time I looked at it,
I was just like, I like it. I like that.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Maybe maybe they're building the Summer Slam and they're wanting
to do more in the you know, August time frame.
Maybe they're building the Survivor series. I don't know. Uh,
you know, we're going to see the Rocks Faction at
some point. But like, this is WrestleMania, this is the
super Bowl of of wrestling.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Like, can I posit a theory? Sure, He's been saying
it the whole time. I'm going to ruin wrestling. What
was the last thing that besides Vince McMahon being a
literal monster, what was the last thing that ruined wrestling
like legitimately ruined.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Wrestling Ruthless aggression era?
Speaker 2 (21:32):
No, I think before that, what truly ruined wrestling for
a while?
Speaker 1 (21:41):
That are we talking attitude era before Hulk Hogan?
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Yes, oh, Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan was the last person
to truly ruin wrestling. It came down to like how
he uh won at WrestleMania nine, which was in Vegas.
He came out and after I believe Yokozuna had already
beaten Brett Hart for the title or something. I don't
(22:07):
remember the match exactly or the participants, but I believe
it was those three uh. I don't know what in order,
but at the end of it, Hulk Hogan leaves that champion,
that that WrestleMania champion when he wasn't even in the
championship match. Well, he was the last person to ruin
(22:28):
it was in Vegas. It was, and honestly like it
kept getting worse because it got to to the finger
polk of doom whenever he took out Kevin Nash. This
is I just now thought of this. He's going to
ruin wrestling And the last person to truly ruin wrestling
was Hulk Hogan. And who has been topical this year
(22:50):
on Netflix the day you mentioned January sixth, the premiere
who who got booed out of the building Hulkin?
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Yeah, okay, so maybe maybe we're looking at some better
long story term, long store, long form storytelling.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
And do you know why I think it's ruining Like
his ruining wrestling was bringing out somebody like Travis Scott,
who apparently I had heard he had been training after
his appearance when him the Rock and John turned on
Cody and he like, hurt Cody. Travis Scott hurt Cody.
There was a backstage segment, not segment, it was behind
(23:33):
the scenes and it was Travis Scott talking to Triple
H and he said, I want to do that more
And he said, well you've been we got you in
the ring, We've got we've been having you in the
ring lately. I thought he looked terrible. He took the
Crossroads really well. But it was an awful, awful ending
to that match, yeh, which is exactly what Hogan did. Yeah,
(24:00):
it was a terrible main event. John knows that. And
because he ruined, he's ruining wrestling. He's the last legitimate champ.
Who is the last?
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Who was?
Speaker 2 (24:15):
It all comes back to Hogan's emulating Hogan. He's been
saying I love Vince. I don't he loves Vince McMahon.
He's still been saying it in interviews. Who loves Vince
McMahon too?
Speaker 1 (24:31):
It makes sense. It makes sense.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
I just figured it out. I figured out the like
his entire mindset, figured out the entire reason for that
main event.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
One of my other highlights was seeing the out of
nowhere come back of the man Becky Lynch.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Nobody saw that coming.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Two days prior, on Friday, a press release was out
that said Becky Lynch will be taking an indefinite break
from wrestling two.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Days prior, and now she's a champion.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Well, spoiler alert, they lost it.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Okay, Uh, Well, I guess that takes the obligation of
showing up week to week. Yeah, yeah, a day. Yeah, hey,
you can't take it away though they did take it away, they.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Did, but no, no seeing the man back in the ring.
And I sent you the the w w E social
media posts, the TikTok of it. How lives sold. Becky
coming down the ramp was perfect.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
She has she has any facis whenever sell anything. She
had that match on Friday where she took I believe
she suplexed Bailey outside of the ring and hurt the
hell out of her back and like she screamed, but
the moment she saw the camera on her, she turned
it into a smile and did the chimmy. Yeah, she's
(26:08):
the best. That's why she won the Slammy for Women's
Wrestler of the Year. She should have been Wrestler of
the Year. Like in general, she carried raw all last year.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Yeah. Yeah, twenty twenty four was the year of Live.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
It truly was. It was the Live Morgan Revene Tour,
but now it's the World Tour.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
But yeah, overall, I would say to Night WrestleMania, I'll
give it a solid seven and a half out of ten.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
I gave it a C plus.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Plus. I mean there were low lights, but there were
really good matches both nights there were uh and again
I hate to well, we haven't even talked about Uh, Tiffy,
that's what I would have knocked out of herself.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
I talk about that match because, as you know, I
am a big Tiffany Stratton fan. I say, there there's
been matches where she's had that she just reminds me
of Kevin Owens. Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
And I mean that.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
I mean that in the in the most polite way.
She like, she's a brawler, and yeah, she's she's just
figured it out and I hope she has just a
great career. But so I'm a big fan of her.
Everybody knows Charlotte's one of the best to ever step
(27:44):
between the ropes. The problem that in that match is
they just like.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Were both wearing the same costume.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yea. Honestly, because Tiffany Stratton was the champion, she should
have had the the first choice of color and Charlotte
Charlotte has a history of pink. She does, but it's
it's kind of fight thing, you like, the champion gets
the first choice. And uh, yeah, I love Tiffany Stratton's
(28:16):
entrance though with the barber dolls. But I felt like
the match only feels like it was slightly done, and
I gave it a kind of the bad grade. They
just lost momentum three times in the match, Like.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Both of them looked gassed at different moments.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
And I don't know why. I think it was just
because they were trying to play catch up during certain
some moments that they were overthinking things and it's just
like certain moves just didn't have Like I think Charlotte
was up on the on the middle rope for a
little too long while Tiffany was setting something up, and
it just it just felt a little like they just pointed. Yeah,
(28:57):
at some point they lost each other in the where
they were in the match.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Yeah, it wasn't a terrible match. I don't want to
give like again, they they looked like they beat the
hell out of each other. Tiffany Stratton chipped the tooth
and was bloodied at the end.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Yeah, magically fixed by the press conference though.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Ah delightful. Yeah, maybe maybe she had like maybe she's
got Jim Carrey like a false tooth that she chipped
when she was a kid, and she can just take
it off and all it.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Could be something like that. I was thinking veneers and
they're in Vegas. I imagine they could easily get.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Yeah, there's a dentist everywhere. Twenty four to seven.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
I'm sure it's like, I'm sure some of them are
gonna be a little sketchy and with some because they
have some debts.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
But a lot of Bondo is probably being used in
those situations. But no, see that that's kind of my
like that match is kind of the encapsulation of how
I felt Mania went peak. Moments moments where it seemed rushed,
(30:06):
Moments where it seemed like people just like they lost
the plot, lost where they were.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Like Raquel, Raquel Rodriguez during the tag match last night,
she like at one point she tagged Live In and
was like, Live Live wasn't supposed to You're supposed to
get lyra closer to Becky to build the tension. Because
immediately after Raquel tagged Live In, Live just kicked her
(30:33):
and then tagged her back out, and then Raquel realized, oh,
I have to go do this. Like at some points
they just lost each other in the ring.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Yeah, it's I mean, again, not not a bad ple,
it's just it was not of the level that I
expect from a Mania like it may And maybe I'm wrong,
maybe I'm looking through rose colored glasses, but I thought
forty Mania forty was better overall.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
No, I think Mania forty is a top fiver. Honestly,
it could be even the top three. I'm a big,
big fan of that of WrestleMania forty. It was just
it was that was a great card.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Yeah, I hate that we missed out on a KO
moment at WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
He shared the shirt.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Yeah, yeah, I hate that so called Steve Boston is
probably gonna get a lawsuit for hitting somebody with this
fucking four wheeler.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
I met. Like. Also, I love how he he walked
up the ring pretty fat the ramp pretty fast after
slamming about four beers, four or six beers because I
don't think after crashing him geting look and then smashing, crashing,
smashing for four or six beers and then getting onto
an a TV on a very arrow walkway. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Also, can we talk about how the fact that that
walkway may have been the longest no, outside of out
outside of this year's uh Royal Rumble, which may have
been a marathon to get down.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
I want to say the walkway at thirty eight was
and the walkway for uh when was the Steel of
the Century. When was it was in San Francisco? I
don't remember what it was that.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Yeah, that was where he also, much like the New Day,
just booked it there. Yes to the stage. I want
to I want to bring up Cody Rhodes's entrance.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
What was with the four or eight I can't remember eight,
Like motocross guys who just like they had to have
been like, this is the most boring thing we've ever done.
We we literally we couldn't do any move any tricks.
We just had to fly over and then we had
to just be next to the ramp as he walked by.
(32:53):
We weren't doing nothing, and then we didn't do a thing.
We were just there. Yeah, we're here to represent Georgia. Georgia.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
That that entrance was pretty pissed poor. I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
That was the only stupid part. Everything else was fine.
I've liked how he's toned down his entrance jacket. It's
no longer like a jacket jacket. It's like it's a.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
Full Homelander's Windbreaker.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Members only with chain mills.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Again, if I'm giving Awards Best entrance of the weekend
by far Seth Rawlins not not one end on the
flame thrower, but three separate flamethrowers in one blacked out
the crowd and then all white. Uh, and it was gorgeous.
I would also say that the synergy between wrestling and
(33:53):
video games was very odd for me seeing Drew come.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
Out in you know, he hated it Doom.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
The dark Ages attire was very odd. Uh. Drew did
get a badass Claymore off on Damian Priest in that match,
though that Claymore looked devastating.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
That match bang. That mat was not.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Spear On Carlito devastating, but it was up there.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
We barely talked about that match too, but that that
was a hell of them was a hell of a match.
I mean, those two guys have great chemistry. They're both
just athletic bigs as I like to call him.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Yeah, they I mean, Damian Priest is like a world
renowned freaking kickboxer and Drew's just just Drew Drew. I
mean he is just oddly athletic for how big he is.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
I would say I liked I liked Seth's entrance. I
liked Punks. Romans was really was really understated.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
It was very I mean, you go from the orchestra
to that, that's pretty understated.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Uh, Tiffany, I loved Jay was pretty good. It was long,
but it was it was really good. But it's exactly
what you needed to start off WrestleMania by people yeating.
That's what they wanted to do. That's what that was.
When they're gonna have the most energy, let them let
them yeat.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Yeah, let let them eat. I would say, surprise the night,
even though we both called it was not the win
for Dom, but the crowd reaction to the win from
Dom Man has that man has paid his dues and
(35:38):
played this character for like over a decade and he's
finally getting his his props for it, like.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
His since twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
I'm just like, all, Like he's been in the company
for about ten years now, right, Dom, Yeah, no, counting
counting twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
I believe, no County Like.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
He was around with Ray.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Well, I mean when he was a kid.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Yes, but he was a part of storylines then, is
all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Yeah, but then he was away for like ten years.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Yeah, I guess you're right.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Anyway, Like his current role.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
His current role, we'll call it five years then, Okay,
that's still a long time to be in a role
like that where you literally can't get a word out
because the crowd booze you so fucking much. And now
they are celebrating him, and it's fun to see.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
I've been ready for it. Dom has been honestly one
of my favorite characters on television for the last year
year and a half. I think whenever you're able to
get like that nuclear level heat, you're doing something either
really good or really bad, because you're either getting the
heat like Dom was, or you're getting the heat like
(36:52):
Logan does. And there's a significant difference.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Between significant difference.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Because one, people are having two there and be there.
They hate you, so I want. I always like to
go if I can. I'm not bring a buzz b.
Well it's it's one, two and d I believe, but
I've only had two.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
But yeah, I'm very happy to see Dom get his
flowers like he He has definitely earned it, and that
match was really good.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
He's turned into a great wrestler because he's no longer
been saying it for years. He's no longer trying to
wrestle like Ray. Yeah, and he found his own style. Dude,
you were trained by Lance Storm, one of my favorite
technical wrestlers. You were you were sent up to Canada
by your dad to go work with Lance Storm. He's
finally implementing all that work. Yeah, I love Lance Storm.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
It was no it was a fun match. Ron Breaker
showed that he is just a beast of a man
as well. That double suplex that he bawled on Dom
and Finn in the middle of the match was nothing
short of impressive.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
I love the fact that he is a big seller too.
He sells for everyone because.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
It's just like his dad was.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
I mean, it's he's doing a good thing.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
He also gave us Steiner math on the on the
lead up to WrestleMania, which is just delightful. But yeah, overall,
I went a eleven and two in my p I
went eleven and two. I missed I missed the El
(38:36):
Grande Americano win, and then I mist no excuse me,
I went ten and two because when we talked about this,
we didn't know who Randy was going to face, and
I don't believe we picked anything. So I missed the
(38:59):
Elgrande America Cono and I missed the EO Sky retaining
because I picked Bianca.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
I think I went eleven and two and not counting
Randy Orton.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Yes, yeah, you're right, so we both went eleven and two. Yeah,
you got the EO one. I got the seth Rollins
because you had punk.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Hey, Carrion Cross did appear on television today.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
Oh good, I'm gonna catch up with Raw after we
after we record. So I watched.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
We've been talking about We've been talking about wrestling. Okay, overall,
I'm feeling a little bit more positive about about wrestling
whenever we because it kind of helps to talk about
it kind of helps after we talked through it.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Yeah, I do feel better about it. Again, It's still
it's not my like top ten WrestleManias of all time,
you know it was. It was a solid card.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
You can always go back to this this event and
watch the the EO Bianca and Rea match because that, yeah,
you can. That's just banger. That's an all timer. And
I think like a couple of Hall of famers came
out and said that's like, no, it might have been
just Biggie, which he'll probably be a Hall of Famer said,
that's one of the best opening matches to WrestleMania all time. Yeah,
(40:32):
it was. It was. I could rewatch that match again
and Againah.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
I definitely could.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
It was.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
It was fantastic. We've got Backlash next that's coming up
at the second weekend of May, so we've got a
little less than We'll have three raws and three smackdowns
before Backlash for them to build something. I can already
(40:59):
tell you the main event of Backlash is going to
be thanks to the half of Raw that I watched.
Uh not, not that it's been announced, but it's it's
in the works. Backlashes in Saint Louis. I'll give you
that that hint there you going, Fuck no, you won't
know how much tickets were. That's how they keep the concrete.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
That's how they keep getting these highest gates ever, because
the prices are up. It's not just they're selling all
these tickets, because they've been selling out these these places
for a while. It's just the prices are up. That's
why they getting these higher gates.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Yeah. I got on the day of when they went
on pre sale because I had a code and for
non third party, like I'm not talking about resealing. I'm
talking about pre sale, like face value against the concrete
in the back of the Enterprise Center. Like last fucking row,
(41:59):
it was like a hundred seventy five dollars And I'm like,
I'd rather just pay my seven dollars per month for
Peacock and watch it in the comfort of my own home.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
They're here in June the day before my birthday for RAW,
so I might that. I mean, I mean, they're still expensive.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
But me and a couple of friends went to RAW
in Saint Louis that when they had a double Raw
and we paid a grand total of after fees forty
seven dollars per ticket, and we were on the camera
side and had a great view of the ring and
the entrances, and like those aren't bad. Like I'm okay
(42:42):
spending forty seven dollars after fees to go to a taping,
but I.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Am not okay. Minor about one hundred and seventy five
Oh wow, I'm not okay though, Yeah, like prices is
a little higher, but like again, for one hundred and
seventy five dollars dollars, I could buy.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
A bunch of fucking food and booze and enjoy in
the comforts of my own home and not have to
drive back to Cape Girardo after after the ple E.
Sou but no, we got three weeks. Like I said,
I I the ple E is in Saint Louis. That
should give you a clue as to what the main
event will be.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Oh, Randy, okay, uh, Nick, So you you're seeing Sinners
tomorrow right? That that was your plan? Okay. I won't
spoil anything for you, but it does have like.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
Give us your non spoiler review if you can.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
Think of just another perspective and kind of similar vibe
and how good it's a it's a great like they're
not like the same movie by any means. It's like
a like a Black Old Brother. Were it thou speak
of that one? It's just it's not it's not like
(43:58):
a journey like O Brother, but like through distance, but
it has the same vibe. It's around the same time period. Yeah,
it's very.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Musical thirties, nineteen thirties, Blue.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Nineteen thirty two, and it's just it's it's an incredible
blues movie. It's an incredible like genre film. It's a
like cinematic Honestly, it's not like a perfect movie. I'm
not going to say it's like a perfect movie, but
it's it's like it's one of those things that is
(44:32):
technically a cinematic masterpiece.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
Oh I get that.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
Yeah, just on on film, it literally is just damn
near perfect.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
Is it a good vampire movie.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
It's a very great vampire movie. Okay, I mean but
the music throughout the movie literally just kind of and
it feels very lived in if that makes sense, if.
Speaker 1 (45:00):
No, totally makes sense.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
And there's great humor in it.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
There's I've heard there's great chemistry between the cast as well.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
Yeah, I mean, well there's a lot of sexual chemistry
within the cast and just obviously for the movie. But
it's just it's a very sexual movie and it honestly,
it's really great. Michael B. Jordan place A is really
really good. It turns out Ryan Cougler is really good
(45:32):
at making movies.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
Who knew?
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Who knew? But but the thing is with and you
respect it a lot more too, because like it's it
came out earlier this week. Why why was Christopher Nolan
thanked in the movie in the credits. It's because he
Ryan Cougler for the first time was shooting on large
format film, and he wanted to consult somebody who was
(45:57):
actively doing it at its peak. He asked the best
person who does it how to do it. And you
know what, other people respect that because you're like, yeah,
why wouldn't you if you like, you're you're already great
at this thing. Yeah, but if you want to shoot
at the best you possibly can on this giant format, yeah,
(46:19):
go to the person who does it the best right now. Yeah,
and ask them for tips. And Christopher Nolan showed up
on set apparently, I believe as far as I've read,
I believe he showed up on set and show Ryan
Coogler how to shoot on seventy milimeter like not on.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
The on camera.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
Yeah. So he he's a good filmmaker who's not afraid
to ask questions. Yeah so and ask for help. So
it's a really good movie. Michael B. Jordan's really great,
Delroy Lindo really good, so good in the movie. Hailey
Steinfeld really good in the movie. The villain I can't
(46:58):
remember his name. He was in that Angela and Joeye
like Unbreakable movie. I believe he's really good in it.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
Unbreakable is an m Night Shamalam film starring Bruce Willis
and Samuel L. Jackson.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
It came out this movie came out to them fourteen.
I can't remember the name of it. He was a
pow in a Japanese camp. Gotcha, Jack O'Connell. There we go.
That's there. He was really good. But just the music
and this the kid. The musician, his name is Miles
like Cannon and plays beautifully, sings beautifully. He's already being
(47:39):
rumored for Miles Morales, which there's no confusion for him.
On zet his name is Miles. Yeah, he has to
react to Miles. I can do that.
Speaker 1 (47:48):
I do that.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
He's really good, Like I can't work for you to
see it. It's it's really great. Like I said, I'm
not going to say like it's perfect or anything, but
this is an incredibly rewatchable cinematic masterpiece. It's it's shot
on the level of like Oppenheimer, because Oppenheimer wasn't big.
Oppenheimer wasn't big. It was just shot like it was
(48:12):
very compact.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
Actually Oppenheimer was a small movie shot about big things.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
Yes, and that's kind of how this feels. So like
I know that might be a lot of praise, and
I feel like a lot of people have been over praising,
praising the shit out of this movie. But you know what,
like it's a really good movie, and you should give
the flowers while they can still smell them well.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
And I think it's important to note that this, you know,
this is a very personal story for Ryan Kugler. He
wrote it himself. It's an original ip. He is the
first director, producer in a very long time, or at
least in the studio system, that bargained to get back
(49:03):
ownership of this story twenty five years from now. So
like twenty five years from now he gets the ownership
of this this story back from the studio. I don't know,
Like that's that's how personal of a movie this is
for for Ryan Cougler. So that's pretty awesome and very
excited to see it. I mean, anytime Coogler's name is
(49:26):
on a film, I'm down. I just I love his
style of cinematography that he puts into it. I love
his storytelling.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
There's one scene in this movie that is literally it's
it's one of the better scenes I've seen on film
in a long time. And like there have been plenty
of like greater movies. But there's just one scene that
is just above and beyond because you're like, you're kind
(49:59):
of confused first, and then it just keeps going and
it it it's it's incredible to watch. It's incredible to
listen to just watching every little bit of the scene
because like it it's like putting together a puzzle, but
but truly enjoy like just finding like but you're always
(50:20):
finding the piece. That's Yeah, it's like the most satisfying puzzle.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
I'm excited to see it, so for sure, it's it
was one of my most anticipated films of twenty twenty
five for sure, so very excited to see it.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
I I try not to really anticipate, like overly anticipate
movies anymore. Like the last movie I was like super
super excited about. This says a lot about me and
how ridiculous I am now was Poor Things. That was
the last movie I was truly excited excited about. I
don't know, because I didn't watch anything about it. I
(50:59):
knew about Your Ghosts. I knew it was Emma Stone,
who even at that point I didn't realize she was
my favorite actor actor. It was kind of like I
didn't realize that Seth Rollins was my favorite wrestler for
a long time until my sister got me something that
was Seth Rons. I was like, and she said, that's
your favorite wrestler, right, I was like, well, I guess
(51:20):
he is. I guess maybe I just haven't shut up.
Like and maybe even before I watched La La Land,
even before I completely watched Crazy Stupid Love like in
its entirety, I was like, man, Emma Stone's like my
favorite and for some reason, Poor Things was just like
my most anticipated movie, and I haven't had that for
(51:41):
a while. I'm waiting for another movie to make me
feel like that.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
Well, I being who I Am, my most anticipated movie
in the last twenty years comes out in July, so
and I totally understand.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
Somebody who cares about the property, somebody who knows how
to like has proven track record of making a good
superhero movie that doesn't even need to be truly focused
on the active superheroism, but every day superheroism worse. You
you you were you were gonna be eating good here
(52:17):
in a couple of months. Yeah, I'm excited, trust me,
I'm very excited for you.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Superman Day was on Friday. Yeah, it was Friday, Good
Time eighty seven eighty yeah, eighty seven years of Superman
is what we've had now. And I I treated myself.
It was a It was very much a Parks and
rectreat yourself day. They did the pre order on the
(52:45):
Superman the New Movie merchandise, so I bought myself a
Jumbo Superman funko that is flying, and I bought Crypto
because he's the bestest boy. And James Gunn if you're listening,
if anything happens to that bestest boy, we will have words.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
I have. I have an undod authority. He's probably not
going to hear this. I see the the downloads, the traffic.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Yeah, uh no, I just being I mean I was
Superman like seven years straight as a kid growing up.
For Halloween. I named our first child Clark.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
I'm aware, not not. Friends are aware.
Speaker 1 (53:36):
Yeah, not after Griswold or Gable. Yeah, but Superman. Yeah,
not after Griswold though, you know.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
Got a big gun with the wind fan. No, give
me one second.
Speaker 1 (53:53):
Did I just hear you get?
Speaker 2 (53:54):
Say?
Speaker 1 (53:54):
Go on get?
Speaker 2 (53:55):
I was going to ask you, did you hear my get?
I sure did, but but.
Speaker 1 (54:04):
No, it's just I'm such a huge James Gunn fan. Anyway,
If anybody ever speaks ill of the first Scooby Doo movie,
I will fight them. Oh. I love the Guardians of
the Galaxy films. He cooked in those. I love Slither,
I love.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
I'll never watch that movie.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
I know you won't. H I love super because God,
I love that movie. There's just something about Rain Wilson
beating people with a wrench, a wrench that's just fantastic.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
Elliott Pagon isn't that too?
Speaker 1 (54:42):
Yes, so is Nathan Fillion obviously.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
Uh so.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
I mean it's just the stars seem to be aligning
for DC right now, and I'm rather happy about that.
You know, we did have successful Peacemaker was very successful,
so successful they're giving it a second season that comes
out in August. Creature Commandos was brilliant, and the fact
that we get to see those characters in live action
(55:10):
sooner rather than later is pretty awesome.
Speaker 2 (55:12):
It's actually kind of cool of the timeline that it's
all coming out. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
Yeah, I like that they're taking their time. And James
Gunn says, there's not going to be a project until
it's ready, Like we're not going to try to meet
a deadline. Because Warner Brothers wants us to when the
story's there, will make the movie or the television imagine.
Speaker 2 (55:33):
WB has to hate that. But the thing is, you're
going to get a better return on your.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
On your investment.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Yeah, and we can. You can shift out like a
no offense. You can ship out a Crave in the Hunter,
you can shoot out of Madam.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
Web More a morbid time.
Speaker 2 (55:51):
Yeah. But the thing is, they're like, only one of
those movies made money, and that was the Venom franchise.
Only one of them did. So, like you're you might
as well take your time and not be so pressure
to put something out.
Speaker 1 (56:08):
It's not a volume game. We're seeing the We're still
seeing the backlash on Marvel at this point, Like, yeah,
Brave New World did not do, did not hit the
numbers that they thought it was going to hit. Thunderbolts
is not looking like it's going to hit the numbers
that they thought it was going to hit. I mean,
seventy million dollars is still a very respectful opening weekend,
(56:29):
but it would be the fifth lowest opening weekend of
a Marvel film in the history of the thing is
the universe.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
We need to stop looking at numbers. Oh, I agree
that because that metric, but that's.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
That's what the studios look at.
Speaker 2 (56:45):
But that metric is like, nothing is going to hit
the high highs of those Avenger movies. Those Honestly, the
first one Age Voltron did really well, not as much
but an Infinity War and Endgame. It can't be the metric.
That can't be the metric.
Speaker 1 (57:05):
I know, I wholeheartedly agree.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
Captain Martin did really well, but that was just because
we it was a superhero movie that we kind of
needed at the time. Is like that Girls needed because
women represented as super She's overpowered. But the thing is
why not. I mean, like that movie did well. That's
(57:27):
when Internet Charles really started going at Marble.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
Well, it's the same with Black Panther as well. We
needed that movie when we got Speaking of Brian Coogler
for the twenty minutes we did, I just using box
office numbers. It has always been a thing, it will
always be a thing, don't get me wrong. But getting
back to telling good stories is what I want to see.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
You know.
Speaker 1 (57:53):
There's a reason why Christopher Nolan, for instance, doesn't put
a movie out like every year because because he crafts. Yeah,
he crafts a story and he gets it right, and
then he brings to cinema brilliant masterpieces.
Speaker 2 (58:15):
Yea, he makes movies that some like, a very specific
group of people really like, and for them.
Speaker 1 (58:23):
I just again, I I want, I want good storytelling,
and I think James Gunn is going to give that
to us. I also believe that, you know, we're gonna
get a good Green Lantern finally, which is nice. We're
getting We're getting uh an HBO Max Green Lantern series
(58:45):
starring Kyle Chandler. Uh. You know, we're gonna get Nathan
Fillion sprinkled in there as well, which is great to hear.
You know, we're world building. We're actually world building, which
is what good storytelling, especially when you're doing it across
different mediums and you know different characters. That matters. You
(59:05):
can't just smash things together and hope for the best
like Warner Brothers did before. So anticipation wise, I think
for the rest of the year, we've got a lot
of good things to look forward to, not just superhero movies.
You know, we do have some great looking superhero movies
to come. We've got Superman, We've got Fantastic Four, both
(59:26):
in the same month, like two weeks between each other.
In that same month, we also have the new Jurassic
Park film, which looks like a return to the Jurassic
Park that I liked. I don't know if that makes sense, Like,
is it gonna be as good as the nineteen ninety
three Jurassic Park film? Absolutely not. I would love to
(59:49):
be wrong about that, because Jurassic Park is a top
three film of all time for me. Yes, I know
you agree with Come on now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
No, No, I was. I was trying not to interrupt.
You were talking. I was, I was cook. I was
actively shutting up.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
You were letting me cook.
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
I appreciate it because I am an interrupter. I am
an interrupter by nature, so I was doing my best
to show up.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
No, but again we get the July. July is going
to be absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
Those The most I'm looking forward to is Fantastic four.
I grew up with the comics. Yeah, for you, obviously,
it would make complete sense that it's Superman. I am
also looking very much forward to seeing Superman. I'll definitely
see it more than once. I'll definitely see Fantastic four
more than once. All Right, that one I'll probably see
(01:00:49):
a bunch if I'm being completely honest, But I honestly
it's going to be a good summer. I think this
is a gonna be a probably a b year. I
want to say just I feel like last year was
a really great year. I think the year before was
also a really great year. I think, Yeah, I don't
(01:01:09):
see a lot of like How To Train Your Dragon
looks fun. I'm trying to think of like even some
of the smaller movies, but I can't even think of
like some of the indie Darlings yet.
Speaker 1 (01:01:18):
I mean, I know it's not an Indie Darling by
any stretch of the imagination. But we do get Final Reckoning,
the end of the supposed end of the Tom Cruise
mission Impossible films. I think that looks good. Smaller budget films.
We get a new Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and
Ralph Machio. I'm intrigued by it, at least because I
(01:01:41):
love Jackie Chan.
Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
I do love Jackie Chan, you know, but I'm not
rushing to like if I missed that in theater, I
think I'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
Yeah, we get Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme, which I'm
intrigued by watching the trailer really made me again intrigued
by it. We get The Ballerina or Ballerina in June,
which is part of the John Wick franchise. I know
you're not a huge fan, but I enjoy those movies.
(01:02:10):
I don't enjoy it like movies I really like on
the Day Armas.
Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
And I haven't watched it enough, if I'm being honest.
Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
New Pixar movie looks good. I believe it's called l
O or is it?
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
I Llo Ilio, I believe Ilio.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
Yeah, there's a new A twenty four animated movie like
Legend Okie. I think that comes out next week. Nice,
So yeah, it's it's gonna be an interesting year.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
Twenty eight years later comes out in June.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
Yeah, I mean, I'm ready for that movie to come
out so I can actually watch some of the trailers
because I haven't watched I don't watch anything. Like the
only trailers I watch are for Marvel just because I
know they're not going to show me too much. But
it's I mean, it's been a great year for TV two.
(01:03:00):
The last of US, episode two of season two, it
like has been like I still have twenty minutes left.
It's so incredibly stressful. It's been a like a banger
of an episode from the start. The regisus Gymstones. I
did watch last night. I told you I was worried
about Kelvin during the season. He, like Adam Devine, had
(01:03:23):
like an Emmy nomination level scene in this this episode.
Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
So I like to watch that tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
He actually he actually finally got to like act like
act and not like comedy act, which he's fantastic at. Uh.
But he had just like that great scene that I
was I've been waiting for for Kelvin to have. I
have not watched this season finale of Daredevil yet. I
(01:03:52):
still need to watch that. Any of the did you
watch the Studio this week?
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
I didn't get to know. It's an I worked nine
straight days, gotcha.
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
It's a sal versus Quinn episode. It's the it's his
creative assistant with Ike Baronholtz. It was them against each
other and they have the director of Smile come in
to try and rip off his own movie. It's just
a battle between the two of trying to get their
movie made, and one of them is the director Smile
(01:04:25):
ripping off his own movie. Brown so it's it's an
incredible episode. I was. I was very happy with that
episode because it's Ike Baronholds having really doing a good job.
But it's the chase Suey I can't think of her
last name, uh, the creative assistant or a creative direct
(01:04:48):
executive to Seth Rogan. She she carried the episode and
it was great, so I was happy. Like it's kind
of like Mythic Quest. Mythic Quest will do like a
side sure episode this one request. Yeah, this also did
a side episode where it was focused on those two
and not just Seth. Of course it was shot beautifully
(01:05:11):
as well.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
I will say I didn't bring up these two movies,
but I want to before we get to the end
of the episode. U two movies that I am low key,
super fucking excited about that are coming out later in
the year. We're talking like September. In fact, both of
them on September twelfth. Spinal Tap two The End Continues
(01:05:36):
comes out.
Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
Did Reiner direct?
Speaker 1 (01:05:40):
Rob Reiner is returning a look inside Christopher guests and Harry.
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
Sheer, Big Rober Guy, Yeah, Huge.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
Rob Reiner, Fan Elton, John, Paul McCartney, and Garth Brooks
are all rumored to be making appearances in the film.
Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
More To this year.
Speaker 1 (01:05:58):
Yeah, happyogle Mores's coming up. But the other movie in
September that I'm truly looking forward to is the new
PTA movie, One Mile After Another with with Leonardo DiCaprio
and Sean Pinn Like super looking. I think Pta is
an octur like to a t like he's just fantastic.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
He's casting the Hiams sisters now too, So that's all
that matters to me. I want to bring up I
did watch forty two on Jackie Robinson day. Yeah, inappropriate.
Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
It's such a great movie.
Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
It's a perfect movie. Chadwick Boseman Rest in Peace and
Messiah is so Harrison Ford Ford is so good in it,
Like the the lines that they give Harrison in that
movie to say to Jackie, Yeah, ours God, so good.
It's like it's the role I think Harrison Ford had
been waiting to play, like he's been waiting to become
(01:06:54):
this character. Uh. And then of course Chadwick was just
born to be the inspiration that was Jackie Robinson the
most important American sports figure ever, at least America. He
is the most important sports figure absolutely. So I watched
that fantastic, still perfect, Nick, Okay to close us out. Okay,
(01:07:20):
before I get to my indie movie that I watched
this week that nobody cares about. So that's why it's
at the end. Oscar voters are now being held being
told that they need to finally start watching the movies
to vote for them, to vote for them. They finally
are cracking down on people not watching the movies because
(01:07:45):
that was a big storyline this year. So if you
do not watch the nominated movies, you cannot vote in
that category.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
Jordan and I are very willing to watch the movies.
Academy still were clear.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
To vote Georgia Mandy really great. If you're not watching
Georgia Mandy on CBS.
Speaker 1 (01:08:05):
Send us screeners, Academy.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Yes, I would take any. Okay, and Game Changer one
year later was a was just my god, so good. Vic,
I love you.
Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
Her Craigslist free item was great.
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
Josh Josh Rubin should absolutely be my favorite person on
the Game Changer cast, but Vic Mchaalis every appearance they
are amazing just makes a case for the fact that
they are the best Game Dropout cast member. I'm sorry,
(01:08:53):
I know it's probably most people would say Brendan Lee Mulligan,
and I would probably agree with you. But Vic Mchayliss
is Caos incarnate and they are's.
Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
Been here the whole time.
Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
I mean, I love Lou too, but and Jacob Weisok.
Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
I love all three of the cast members that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
Were happy they were the season premiere too. Yes, obviously
these boys.
Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
I'm always going to be partial to the Noise boys.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
There's something so endearing about Zach Oyama.
Speaker 2 (01:09:24):
That perfect timing, the man with perfect time.
Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
King of timing, the the the time where Brennan was
his lawyer talking and yeah, because yeah, I killed him
his delivery, his timing perfect.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
He was so patient because Brennan was cooking, cooking, that
was And then you couldn't think that there would be
any way that Zach could be able to contribute something
even as good as what Brennan Britain's putting together like
a like a well like.
Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
A well thought out defense.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
And Zach Hutson at the perfect time.
Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Yeah, he was even Josh lost it at that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
Uh. My favorite Josh moment though, is a response to
Zach when he called the clown ship. Yes, yes, it's
so funny.
Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
Uh, No game Changers was brilliant. The first episode of
the season was brilliant. Second episode aired earlier tonight before
we recorded. I'll be watching that later. I don't know
how we can top one year later. It's great that
Vic and Sam's wife are now married.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Yeah, you know, I'm sure they'll be happy together.
Speaker 1 (01:10:48):
Did you see before we Go Happy? Did you see
Sam's wife? I can never remember her name on Smarty
Smarty Pants.
Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
The fifty fifty bases.
Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Forty ninth is where your soul's in your twenty ends
fiftieth base fisting.
Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
All right, Nick, I gotta get to this because we're
going so long.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
Go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
The obscure movie I watched this week was a Polish
mermaid movie. It's Criterion, Yes it is. It's from twenty fifteen.
I had no idea, like it's been on my watch
list since twenty fifteen. I've just never watched it. But
it's Polish. So the pace of the movie starts, I
(01:11:35):
don't know where it could go. And okay, it's a musical,
as it turns out.
Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
Hold Ony a Polish mermaid movie from twenty fifty Yes
that happens to also be a musical.
Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
Yes, in a is it a remake of The Little Mermaid.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
No, it's technically using the lore, like the actual lore
of the Mermaid from the book The Little Mermaid. Because
all right, just stick with me here, okay, okay. It's
set primarily in a nightclub where they are they become
backup dancers and backup singers to another uh artists there
(01:12:21):
and the band. They all live together. But it's a
like the Girl. The mermaids are almost immediately nude without genitalia. Okay,
but whenever they are put whenever water is stick with me. Uh,
whenever water is on them, they do grow out like
like six or seven foot long tails.
Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
I thought you were gonna say. I thought you were
gonna say that they grew genitalia.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
I was very stick with me. Uh, they grow like
six or seven foot long tails which do have genitalia, uh,
which they do want to have sex while having uh
their so but the understandably the people don't want to.
Now keep in mind, they are at a strip, uh,
(01:13:10):
a nightclub where the band play is the primary uh
source of entertainment. Stick with me, and like I said,
they all live together, and uh two and one girl
really wants to have genitalia so she cuts off her
tail and swaps it with another girl who wants to
(01:13:31):
have a fair, wants to be a mermaid, doesn't we
never see her before or ever again. So now the
girl uh cannot walk but does have legs, but her
the girl, the guy that she wanted to be with
to have the genitalia with, does not want to be
(01:13:52):
with her uh. And the the day that she is
that he is to be married, she will turn into
keep with me into soap SuDS. But the other mermaid
girl who was also great, wants to return to the sea,
but doesn't want to do it without her her her sister.
It's it's choices or I don't. I I didn't know
(01:14:27):
how to rate this movie. I don't know how to
rate this movie. I even wrote on my letterbox checking
in fifty two minutes, still confused. A minute later, still
confused about where we're going. Great wirework, though wasn't expecting it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
It's truly the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon of mermaid movies.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
It I liked it, but it's it's a completely other culture.
So I'm not going to rate it because I cannot
out of respect, because I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
Out of respect.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Mermaid sex has already been discussed in that and then
lesbian mermaid sex was not what I was expecting tonight,
immediately after Mermaid Breastfeeding.
Speaker 1 (01:15:31):
What's the name of this movie.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
The Lore or in Polish Singing Sisters? I believe hold up,
I could have the the translation Dancing Daughters so Close,
So it's called the Lore. It's in Polish. I urge
(01:15:53):
you to listen to it. If you do watch it.
Don't have it in dub watch it in Polish because
then you have to pay attention. And well, you still,
like I said, fifty two minutes, you still are going
to be confused, actually fifty three minutes, because I did
say a minute later, you need to pay attention to this.
(01:16:16):
It's Polish and I they made it. It's a movie
that got made, so I respect it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
But you think paul and do you think Paula watched
this on in June?
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
No, No, this is not a how did this get made?
Kind of movie? I don't think so. This would require
too much. They watch easier movies to watch for yeah,
like they're they're bad, but they're easier to watch than this.
Because this isn't bad. This isn't bad. It's just.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
What it is.
Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
It is the Loure. So it is on Max right now.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
Delightful.
Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
So if you if you feel so inclined, like I said,
it's it's a naked mermaid musical set in a nightclub.
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:17:13):
That's a genre film if I've ever heard of one.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
