Speaker 1 (00:19):
Welcome everyone to UZZ the podcast exclusively for those who
have been here the whole time, where your host as always.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
I'm Nick and I'm Andresie and Nick I gotta I
gotta say, you actually look your most Sam riis right now,
like you almost look like a doppelganger of Sam Rich.
Sam right now, the great Sam Rich, the.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Great fantastic Sam Rich.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Wait, Sam Rich, little bitch kicking with my shoe? Oh
my god, did you wait? Have you watched that episode
of We Can get into Game jajer? But you started
it a little bit. How are you?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I'm great. I'm on my week off from work right now,
which is deal delightful, but it also means that there's
always something to do around the house, and the kids
are about to be off school. Yes, so my time
will be taken up no matter what. We're going to
Disney in a couple of weeks. Nice sad news from
the urban household, though, our delightful dog of sixteen and
(01:33):
a half years, Maggie, who I've known longer than all
my children. I got right after we got married.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, I I was there when you got Maggie.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yeah, luckily peacefully she was sixteen and a half. She
was like a seventy pound beagle lab mix. We had
no business having her for as long as we did,
Like those types of dogs just don't live seventeen years. Yeah,
but uh yeah, she she was an amazing dog. And
my wife has already gone to Humane Society and gotten
(02:08):
another one.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
So, uh, are you gonna be one of those eccentric
families that Maggie too?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah? I wish I thought about calling your Santa's Little Helper,
uh but uh no, it was very much a a
doctor evil moment for my wife. I'm pretty sure it was. I'll,
you know, I'll be sad for like ten minutes and
then I'll just get over it. And then she got
another dog, So all is right in the world. The
household is a zoo as always. But how are you?
(02:41):
What have you been up to?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
I'm good. I've just been, honestly, uh, working on mental
health as always, but just running by. I've been working
on mental health by just literally running.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yea. Honestly, yeah, it Cardio is my mental Cardio is
my psychiatrist.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
It really does work for me because I am able
to kind of just disassociate for like an hour, literally
just run a ten k either outside, which was, Oh
my god, that was awful. I was running it like
in windy conditions, but I was like, it's windy, I
should go run. It rains again, I'm probably gonna go
(03:21):
run just because like I want to, Like I'm training
for a marathon, and I honestly think I could do
a half one now, right if you get comfortably, I
could do it.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
If you've done a ten Ok, you can you could.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
I do about three a week?
Speaker 1 (03:36):
That much different. I mean it's for the two that
you've gathered from running a ten k, you could get
through a half marathon. If I can do it, you
can do it, is what I'm trying to say.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah, And I usually run about like two or three
ten k's a week, and then I usually try and
finish it out with enough length to do like close
to a marathon a week. So I enjoy it just because, like, honestly,
I'm not even there for an hour, and I feel
good afterwards because I'm older recovery time, Like I'm not
(04:10):
even even in the shower for like another hour and
a half after I finished, just because I'm just kind
of processing being done.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Oh no, no, when you finished, that kind of sit there. Yeah,
that's about it, because that's all you have the energy
to do.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
But it's it's good. So it's been working for me.
But I also I just go see movies as well,
even though actually, to be honest, I haven't been going
to the theater this recently. It's just it's not the
season for me because it's like a lot of it. Yeah,
it's it's The Accountant to which that's not for me.
I didn't watch the first one.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
It is not for you, no, I mean, we do
have a Mission impos. We do have Impossible coming up.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
I rewatching the series, so say, but Fight or Flight.
I thought I was really interested in it at first,
because I do. I'm happy to have Josh hart met back.
But I'm just like, for some reason, I have not
like I should go to the movie just to go
support it and everything, but I haven't. There's Final Destination Bloodlines,
(05:19):
which my sister saw, which she liked. I mean she
said it's not like the best, like Mission Impossible movie,
but it's the last of Tony Todd. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I'm with with you. It's it's just really not the
season right now.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
I know.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
It's weird, like Thunderbolts just came out, but like great, yeah, yeah,
very good movie. But like I look at the releases
of May and I'm like, I'm excited for for Mission Impossible,
you know what.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I Finally I saw a clip from the movie Hurry
Up Tomorrow, which is the Weekend in Jena Ortega and
jenn Ortega is not a draw for me in any way, No,
not my demographic, but I respect her. Uh there's the
clip of her just dancing singing the Weekend to him,
(06:17):
and it's kind of like a misery kind of like scene.
And I've just been like, Okay, that kind of sounds
like right up my bag, Like I it sounds so
like kind of weird and not really good but fun. Yeah,
like and kind of bad, which is also what I
really enjoy. I love a great movie, but also lover
(06:40):
kind of a kind of bad movie.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Oh yeah yeah yeah, Like like Cloud in the Cornfield.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I saw it. It's fine, it's it's it's exactly what
it is.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
It's it's in a cornfield.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
So I saw it. There you go.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
That's that's Drew's official review. Uh it's a clown in
a cord field. I mean I I there are like
four movies left in May that I will probably go see,
and that's mission impossible. The final reckoning Leelo and Stitch
(07:21):
because I have children, and my children love Leelo and
Stitch Friendship, which I am exceedingly excited to see because
it's it's Tim and Paul, like it should be fantastic.
I feel like.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
They've really really enjoyed it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Like if I I feel like, if you like Tim
Robinson's comedy, if you like, I think you should leave,
this is probably gonna be good.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah. And I've been watching a lot of Tim Robinson
late la beies. I did rewatch. I think you can,
I think you should leave. Recently, I just watched all
of Detroit ters uh. And one of the funniest like
like laugh like the host laughs in SNL scenes is
(08:12):
when Kevin Hart is can't not laugh at Tim Robinson
whenever they're doing the firing of at Barnes and Noble. Yes, Like,
Tim Robinson just gets in his face in such a
way that Kevin Hart cannot handle.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Him, can not keep it together? Can I keep it?
Speaker 2 (08:31):
It's it's it's like it's literally besides the the ABC
basketball theme sketch that he did with sedate, give me,
give me the ball because I'm going out, don't get Besides,
I think those are two of like his biggest spots
(08:51):
on s n L. He didn't really his shine was
for later, uh, and which is fine, but that gave that.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Gave him the breath, that gave he was not given
the room to breathe on s n L. And then
then he spread his wings, you know, he spread his
wings and there was a lot of corns like palm tree.
There was a lot of coffin flop.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
The bones are their money. Uh.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
But also the Phoenician scheme comes out at the end
of the at the end of the month. And again
it was reiterated, not by us on this podcast, but
by Benedict Cumberbatch. Yes, it was quoted in the.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Said said it.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Saying that Wes Anderson finding Michael Sarah is like God
finding water. Literally Sarah was grown in a lab to
one day star in a Wes Anderson film.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Yeah. I think we said it, not kidding, like a
month or two ago.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Literally not kidding, we said it a month ago, which
is and you bring up you brought up a movie
that I ended up rewatching.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
You've watched it I haven't watched it since You Can Revolt. Yeah,
I haven't watched it since like two thousand and nine.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
I ended up watching it. Yeah, it was like two
It had to be.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
I got it.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Yeah, it was two thousand and nine. You are correct.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Yeah, I should really really rewatch this because Youth and
Revolt is.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
The the cast, the cast is ludicrous. Yeah, I mean
Geene Smart, Justin Longfred Willard, rayle Otis, Steve lu shim'ti,
Zach gallafan Akis, Michael Sarah. I mean it's a tight
eighty nine minutes. I remember, it doesn't even reach that
hour and a half mark.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
I remember Zach galafan because is like his steps stepdad, right, yes,
and it's just it's they and they're so like mean
to each other too, and I remember.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
But the fact, the fact that we get the character
of fran Swad Dillainger in that movie is is worth
the price of admission, is all I will say.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
It really was. It's uh, I I do need to
rewatch that. Yeah, the Phoenicians scheme. There was a movie
that I was going to go see tonight, but I
for some reason, like I want to wait until the
actual release. I didn't want to go to the to
the pre release of Bring Her Back is at the
end of this month. It's okay, yes, movie that I'm
(11:47):
looking forward to the most that and together, even though
we can get into the movie together if we want to.
But uh, yeah, I I'm looking forward to Bring Her Back.
Like I said, I could have seen it tonight, but
for some reason, I just was not feeling like I
did not I was not in the right mindset for
that tonight. And that's a like a dread movie.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Yeah I say this, it's the one with Sally Hawkins. Correct.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah, it's the Philippin Brothers twins who did Talk to Me,
which was one of my favorite horror movies recently. I
talked to Me is man like talk to Me?
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Talk to Me is good? Is real good?
Speaker 2 (12:27):
I got the same feeling out of Talk to Me
as I did what is it called it follows? Oh okay, yeah,
it follows to Me was like I felt like the
most like it was the most original movie horror had
had in a while. And for some reason, Talk to
(12:50):
Me also felt like even though it was a possession movie,
it was a possession drug movie, which for like that
Dela like that I fed on on Grief, which yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Dug it follows. I dug it follows because it's just
this like it's almost like it's a love letter to
like seventies and eighties horror films that I grew up
And that's just the whole how it shot, the styling
of it just very like I said, very much like
(13:28):
a seventies and eighties style horror movie. And sometimes you
just you need that. Sometimes you need it.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Yeah, I honestly, like, like I said, I feel like
it was the best executed horror movie in a while.
It has like a kind of a sloppy ending, but
I still think it is like everything leading up to
it is literally perfect.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Yeah, no, that the ending. The ending's a little sloppy.
You're right, but one of our favorite horror movies of
the last few years had a really sloppy ending in
my opinion, and Abarian a little.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I mean, we could talk about his new movie Weapons.
I haven't watched the trailer except for except for the
first one where I know I saw the kids all
left at like two seventeen am or something, and the
way they were running was was definitely creepy, like seeing
them all on like security cams. I thought it was. Man,
(14:32):
that is like the perfect way to tell me I
should see this movie. But also I'm not showing you
anything like that. That teaser. That's I like the teaser.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
More than that's. That's the way like trailers should be.
In my opinion, it could he just enough.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Dude, Why are these like twenty kids running running like
that two seventeen am. And we're only seeing it on
a on a security security camp home security cams, which
is like it it hits us right now, it's view
That's how we view our Yeah, that's how we do
(15:11):
in the world.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Yeah, it's got another good cast to Josh Broland, Julia
Garner's in it.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
I don't know, uh, Eldon, I'm good what I'm good
on the cast.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
I'm just saying it's got a really good cast, uh.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
And and I think Zach Freeger has a really important
style that should be viewed on the big screen for sure.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Yeah, I mean, I'm I think he's been given a
lot of free I think I think he is. Actually,
I don't know what I think about it, Like, I'm
excited for him because we've known about him from the kids,
you know, Miss March uh, and we could he could
(15:59):
have just done nothing but.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Talking about I, uh, the Tiktoks, speaking of the whitest kids,
you know. I was scrolling on the Tiktoks and it
was a stitch of somebody just finding the whitest kids,
you know, And it was the salad skit.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Yeah. I was gonna say, did they find it? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:25):
And it was like I was having the opportunity to
see the salad skit for the first time again.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
I haven't watched the solid skit in a long time.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
And it and it legitimately filled heart with joy.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
I knew it. It's a it's a great sketch if
you if you don't, if you don't know, you should
like it's it's it's vulgar comedy, which is fine, but
I guess nowadays you do have to prepare people for that. Uh.
It's a very vulgar sketch, but it's very funny because
(17:05):
you're like, why is this happened?
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Why? Why is this one we're watching right now?
Speaker 2 (17:12):
But it has a great it has a great uh
uh it lands the plane. Uh, it's a great sketch.
It's the whitest kit you know, and it's salad if
you if you're looking.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Just search that into YouTube. Yeah, but no, Barbarian was great.
I'm looking forward to weapons. You know, it was announced
back in January. I want to say, uh that Kreeger
was going to write and direct a new Resident Evil film.
You know, I'm not a huge fan of the the
(17:50):
Resident Evil film w S.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Anderson.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
It wasn't even a trilogy, It's a quadrilogy. I believe
they will call it five.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Or six I think, but yes.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
The the not Superior Paul Anderson.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah, I like Welcome Rectoon Raccoon City. I like that one.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Yeah, No, it wasn't bad. It wasn't bad. I'm just saying, like,
as a fan of the series of games, yes there
were there were liberties taken and more normally I don't
care held even the fifth or no, the sixth game
in the series like completely went off the rails and
(18:31):
it sucked a lot. So it is what it is.
But Zach is going to do something akin to like
Resident Evil seven, where it was a much smaller stories
village that was village.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Okay, yeah, great. Doesn't biohazard come first, because I think
you have to do bio hazard to get to village.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
No, it was Biohazard. I'm sorry, you are correct because
Village Village has the big tall lady. That lady. Yeah
that everybody simpt on, I'm talking about Biohazard, my bad
where it was first person and it was in the cabin.
The whole thing was basically in the cabin.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Yeah, it's creepy. I tried to I try to play it,
and it's it's really.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Hard play it with the lights off at midnight when
everyone's asleeping in your house. That's all we're going to say.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
I watched the full game play through on YouTube one time,
and then the next day of the next time, I
watched Village. That's why I know these names. But yeah,
they were creepy. Biohazard is it was a completely new
version of the game. But it was just like, it's
so intense, it's and I'm just not good at that.
(19:45):
I'm not good at them.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
My heart came out. But yeah, Kreeger, I think has
a interesting enough voice and how he tells that I do.
I do feel good about that. I think Kreeger would
will bring something very interesting to the screen with Resident
Evil as a backgrounds. It's what I would hope for,
(20:07):
is what we got out of Nolan with uh with
with the Dark Knight, you know, like The Dark Knight
is a great movie on it? No, No, I hope
I'm not saying I know the Dark the Dark Knight.
I know it's a it's a terrible, terrible No.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
No, no, I get I understand it. I was just
like I had like, I'm not am I not going
to comment on that comparison. It's a.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Dark Knight was a yeah, a different level. Dark Knight
was a great movie and happened to be a crime
drama that also happened to have Batman characters. Yes, yeah,
like you take Batman out of that movie. I'm hoping
that he uses things from Resident Evil Lore but makes
(20:56):
a great horror movie.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Yeah, makes sense. Do you need like the the original
characters or would you like kind of what Paul W.
S Anderson did with Alice what with and then including
original characters from like no, yeah, original characters from the games,
(21:19):
because I like, I understand the people, the gamers who
really want their characters portrayed on screen, But the thing
is like that that limits the actors completely.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Well, it's it's the same. It's the same as comic
book nerds.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
It stifles the story, Like, because if you're just telling
the same exact story, go play the game. Because that's
like you have to give actors a chance to work, because.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I don't I don't need them to retell a story
that's already been told. Yeah, like, let Zach Kreeger do
something original that happens to be related to residents. Yeah, Like,
I don't think that's a difficult prospect.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Let's here's the comparison, Zach Craig or Paul W. S Anderson.
I'm kidding, I love uh now, Okay, moving on, uh No,
I'm excited for for that. Obviously, can is happening right now.
(22:28):
A bunch of movies are are being so viewed and
sold right now. I don't really know them because I
know Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are in a movie
that got sold to movie I believe which had the
substance or no? Did they get picked up by Neon?
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Who had I think they got picked up by.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Who had a Nora? And then there there's uh the
the director of ten has a new movie which apparently
is horrifying. So to that by saying that it is good,
(23:14):
I'm excited I'm excited, like because I this year has
not felt as like anticipatory for like like for lack
of a better like Oscar type movies. I'm sure I
haven't seen enough yet that I think are are the
(23:36):
Best Picture nominee worthy. I think I've seen like one
movie this year that's Best Picture worthy.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
There's no I mean, the Phoenician scheme is debuting. It
can but there's a Richard link Letter there is, oh
that has a lot of buzz about it. I don't
know anything about it, mind you, but I I have
heard there's quite a bit of buzz about it. So
(24:05):
who knows, Maybe that'll be something that we that we
are talking about in the future. You know, Richard link
Later has a pretty storied catalog of.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Boyhood.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
I would say cult classics, cult classics.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Yeah, I mean, you confuse, I haven't.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Really Sunrise before Sunset.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
I actually really haven't really delved into link Later too much.
If I'm being honest, he's the director I should I
should probably look into because I finally looked into Paul
Paul w Anderson after uh it.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Always comes Back.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
I finally started watching his stuff after watching Licorice Pizza
and licorice pizza again, and then uh yeah, so I'm
somebody Paul's so yeah, I'm I'm just I'm looking for
more movies this year that are going to be like
the nomination.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
I mean, I think I think you would really dig
a majority of Linkletter's uh link Letters Catalog Days and
Confused is just a seminal film for me in general.
The soundtrack to it is possibly one of the greatest
soundtracks of all time, and it also gave us a
(25:32):
young Ben Afflack.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
With a terrible haircut but swinging a sable hair cricket bat.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Yeah. But I think you'd enjoyed the Before trilogy the films,
but they're very well done. Before Sunrise, Sunset and Midnight.
I'm sure you have seen School of Rock, which was
a Richard Linkletter film, and school Rock, Yeah, I would hope.
So Scanner Darkly is a really interesting film that I
(26:05):
think you'd enjoy if you haven't seen it.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
We watched it at the one two, but I didn't
watch it like fully, like intently. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Yeah, and then and then uh we we talked about
this movie when it came out. I think you enjoyed
it as much as me. But hit Man With came
out on Netflix.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Still have not finished it, Gotcha, which is a shame
because I do. I do really like Glenn Powell. Actually
just rewatched Twisters a couple of days ago. Uh. It
was I was cleaning.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
It's such a fun movie.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
I was just cleaning around the house. I was like,
you know what, Twisters is a great cleaning the house movie.
So it was Twister Twister like because it's just eventually
you'll just stand there for a second. It just oh,
I fully understand. Like my dad whenever he would just
walk into a room and stand and I just say
on TV for second, like it might be like half
(27:02):
an hour, but I finally get it.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
I remember growing up. I'd be like, Dad, you can
sit down. He's like, no, I'm just gonna watch for
a second and then you're right. Though sometimes it would
turn into thirty minutes of him just standing behind the
couch watching the TV, and I'm like, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Like trust me? Like age just hit like hits you
so weird and so fast. I was just watching parts
and rec and she was talking to what's her name,
Rashida Jones was talking to Aubrey Plaza and was like
she's probably maybe like thirty three at the time, and
Aubrey Plaza is maybe like twenty four. Like yeah, and
(27:38):
she started like she says, like youngsters, and she's like youngsters,
Like like, age hits you so weird, like fast and hard. Man, Yeah,
not fun like yesterday. Like yesterday was Sunday. I got
home from grocery shopping and I noticed the garage just
like needed to be tidied up. And I spent three
(27:58):
hours just cleaning my garage, like taking both cars out
and and just sweeping everything and throwing it away and
not just sweeping it into the into the to the
yard or anything, just actively cleaning and reorganized. Age hits
you weird like it does. And then you said tomorrow
(28:20):
you're cleaning like that was.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Cleaning my garage tomorrow. You know it's something you do
in your thirties and forties. You just clean garages.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Yeah, you just throwing a podcasts and you just don't
think about it.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
You just do it, man.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
And then whenever you walk inside and somebody tries to
say something to you, like I had, like, what what
do you think the headphones are for? I don't. Yeah,
all right, let's talk about some TV.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Sure. Uh, I am in the middle of a thirty
Rock rewatch, sir, okay, which is which is why I
was sending you thirty Rock quotes.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
All day, all day, which was fine because I had
something to respond to, because I like, without like any
other context already, I already know what episode.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
You're talking about.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
I don't need to I shouldn't even be here. I
should be home, which is the bar that I found
a few blocks from my house.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Hornberger.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Hornberger.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
It's it's such a.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Perfect You're like twelve years older than everybody else here. Jack,
I'm fifty, I'm rich fifty Limen.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
It's it's like thirty one or something. It's a regular
person thirty.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
One, it's middle class thirty eight.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Yeah, it's such a perfect show. I think I think
I've been kind of in a funk lately because I
don't have like a funge Like I've finished all my
fun shows. Yeah, Like, so all I have is like
X Files, and that's not a fun show to put on.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
I love the X Files.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
But do you are you in the middle of It's not.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
No, I'm with you though. One last thirty ROC thing,
I was sitting on the couch, uh, last night and
I looked over at my wife and I said, Melissa,
I want nachos from Yankee Stadium.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Ay. Uh, he gets there, he doesn't know how to
get back.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
He does get back, but he gets there.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Such a good show. Yeah, yeah, I need to find
I actually, you know what, they just wrapped the show. Uh,
I need to finish my rewatch of Malcolm in the
middle because they just started. They just finished shooting the
new season.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
They just finished the new season.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Yeah. So I think I got like halfway through the
first season. Last time I started the rewatch and I
just kind of abandoned it. But let's get back into that,
because let's get prepared for some Maccolm that was like
my favorite after like Cranston.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
Cranston is so unbelievably good in that show.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
He is like Jane Chis Merrick is the best part
of that.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Yes, yes, to get that as our starting point for Cranston.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Yeah, you know, I mean, it's just it's pretty amazing,
and now he is one of the most beloved actors
in all of television history.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
I was gonna we were going to talk about and
Or first, but this is kind of a perfect Uh.
That's the studio so let's let's go with the Studio first. Sadly,
I'm sorry, Uh it was just kind of a perfect.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Segue Bryan Cranston.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
But him in this most recent week episode of the Studio,
he's not even like the best part, Like the best
part is is Dave Franco. Uh and honestly seth rogen.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
As Frank tend to be when he's in things. He's
real honest about this. He is the best superior Franco brother.
For one.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Yeah, he is the chaos builder. Uh you just say
twenty one grams of shroops. Uh. It like he was
so funny. I mean Zoe Kravitz, oh, mushroom, mushroom chocolates. Dude.
When she whenever they got into the bedroom and she says,
I'm gonna put this here, this is mine, I'm gonna
(32:37):
put this here and I'm gonna go here, I was like,
that's a mushroom trip. I've I've been on those where
somebody just it was this the most accurate portrayal. I'm
gonna put this here, this is mine, I'm gonna put
this here, and I'm gonna go here. It was, Ah,
that was so funny. But the entire no the my
(33:01):
favorite part of the studio this past week, even though
like all the clippable scenes have been like Dave Franco
and all that was Chase Suey Wonder whenever Seth Rogan
starts to uncontrollably sweat, she like, she rubs his face
and underneath his mustache and then licks it and then
(33:24):
immediately realizes what she did.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
I think I had blocked that out because now it's
flying back to me.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
No. And then when they're searching for Brian Kranston and
he has the cheese on the sign on this on
the hotel in the hotel, yeah hallway, and she licks
it and she goes yes, She's oh, why did I
do it? Chase Suey Wonder Like I had to stop
the show to breathe because of those two things. I
(33:54):
thought they were the funniest choices I'd ever seen. And
then them make her go Vegas baby. I like, she
has become like, I think partly my favorite part of
the show. I mean, but everybody is Ike Baronhalts is
so funny.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Everyone does a great job. There's legitimately not a weak point,
but your your main will call it the main Like
five people, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Would, honestly just I would just say three. I'd say it's.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
It's Seth, Ike and and Chase and Chase, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Because they're they're.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
They're the three that are in.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Almost every because Seth is Yeah, Seth is always working
with I don't think she was in the Wonder episode
because they're very good at like separating them and actually
building good chemistry, like because a lot of shows don't
do that, like sometimes you'll have an entire show where
two characters never have a conversation. Uh, And I think
(34:54):
they're trying to avoid that. We haven't gotten a lot
with Catherine O'Hara yet, and we have and done a
ton with Catherine Hawn yet either. But I was happy
we got that episode would just primarily just Chase and
and Ike. I thought that was a great episode just
because like you wouldn't normally get something like that in
the show, like in most shows. So I'm I'm really
(35:18):
happy with what they're doing. I'm excited for next week
the season finale. I'm gonna be so sad that it's
going to be gone.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
H Apple needs to green light a second season. Okay,
so I must have just missed that pick up Apple
Apple's kind of knocking it out of the park man.
They really are between Severance and the studio. I love Shrinking.
I don't know if you've gotten into it.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
I need to start it.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
I need to Ted Lasso obviously was and will once
again hopefully be brilliant.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
It's his name, Uh, Michael J. Fox. Michael Michael Fox
is joining the season three of of Shrinking. Yeah, that's
exciting and news because you know they're it's that they're
going to cover something. Uh, but it's going to be
hopefully cathartic. Sure, I'm going to start the show and
(36:12):
I'm going to look forward to that.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
I'm multiple inevitable scene where I break down because freaking.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Oh, James peak. Michael J. Fox, what's h Marty McFly?
What's his character name in Scrubs? Because even that was great?
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Yeah, that was again I didn't say like Bill Lawrence
just knows how to pull on my heart strings, even
in a half hour comedy. I mean, the man is
responsible for just some of the best television ever created
and some.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Of the most some of the most clever. Uh.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
He knows how to get the best out of his cast,
and top of that, his regulars that keep coming back
to work with him. Are just phenomenal, Like we got
Noiel Flynn showed up in an episode of Shrinking in
season two, Yeah, and in season in season one as well. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
I don't think any Scrubs people appeared on Ted Lasso.
I know Zach directed an episode.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Zach directed an episode, but there were You're right, there
were no Scrubs people now even his wife. But Christa
Miller is in in Shrinking and she's a main cast member,
and she is fantastic in its.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Apparently she curated all the music for Scrubs. That was her?
Speaker 1 (37:42):
That was her?
Speaker 2 (37:43):
How did I not know that until recently? She's like, well,
I think it was her and Bill, But like, yeah,
She's like, I found all that music out.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
Well, she the only one that she did not find.
Zach Braff brought Josh Rayner.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
To her guitarist guy.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
They no, that's uh, that's Colin Hay, former lead singer
of Minute Work and current lead singer of Minute Work. Actually, uh,
that was all Bill and Christa.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Jack Josh Breiner is the one who uh wrote and
sings the song that plays in the episode that makes
us cry the most when Ben dies at the end
of you. I guarantee it. So but yeah, uh no
(38:39):
at the studio will go back to that. I apologize.
I'm very very happy that we're getting a second season because,
as we've talked about many times, this is a show
that I feel like they like put some kind of
chip in our brains. You and I just.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Like episode Yeah. I have I have an idea for
an episode that I think would really work, that really
fit the aesthetic of the show.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
So let's hear it.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Like I got it written down, I'm saying. We briefly
discussed it a couple of weeks ago, just like you
know how the show is very much like like it
pulls from. Yeah. So, I have an idea that I
think would work that I just need to flesh out.
I actually have a good idea of what I want
(39:34):
to do. I just need to get all the dialogue
put in because I just I my hardest thing is
to write dialogue for me. I have to say it
out loud, I have to like talk to myself in
my room to try and work it out, and I
have to like like not kidding, I have to like
move around to like have a conversation. And it's just
(39:54):
like it's embarrassing and I just it's hard to focus
like that, but it's the only way I can kind
of do it. But I have an idea, and I
just for at least the drop in of the episode
just set it up. And I'm trying to flesh out
out of the week, like because I want to try
and bring in uh. I want to you know, how
they brought in like the director of Smile. I think
(40:17):
it's just be so funny if they could get it.
And then I mean a very specific another actor that
I'm not going to mention because it really fits.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
You know, speaking of bringing people in, we we did.
We did not record last week. We've got to talk
about last week's episode, you know, the previous week's episode.
The amount of guest stars playing themselves that they get
on a week to week basis is bind blowing.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
It is.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
In two weeks ago we got Adam Scott, Remy gen
Smart and.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
The same episode that was insane.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Like the obviously Zoe Kravitz, Yes, God.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
That episode was so good too. Yeah, especially like her
talking about like showing the two different sides of the actor,
like how like she's all humble and everything behind the camera,
but like behind the scenes, She's like, no, I'm gonna win.
I know I'm gonna win. I like I put to
I've gone to all the luncheons, I've gone to everything.
(41:22):
I've kissed so much. Ass of course I'm gonna win. Hey, Nick,
you wanted to talk about and Or, so let's talk
about that.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
I I did, you know, I don't want to give
too much away on and Or because I believe the
final episode. Let me check something real quick.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
I will let you guys know if you want to
see how and Or ends.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Yeah, it just finished up. It's like we're done, like
and Or, We're only getting two seasons of it. It
just finished up on the thirteenth. I want to talk
about how important this should be for not just Star Wars,
(42:12):
but for storytelling in general. Okay, because I really do
believe especially Disney could learn from this, especially with its
Marvel product. But I think that anyone who can build
an interconnected universe across multiple mediums should learn from and Or.
(42:34):
You know, a lot of people have had a really
bad taste in their mouths for Star Wars for the
last few years, and you can directly tie it to
Rise of Skywalker. You know, really over correcting from the
(42:55):
last Jedi, which they want didn't need to do in
my because I think the last guy I was brilliant,
but to just pouring on fan service without a fucking story,
but also with things like the Book of Boba Fett,
bringing in you know, the Power Ranger motorcycles as they're
belovedly called or not so belovedly called, and then the
(43:18):
kind of unfortunate flopping of the Acolyte. And I don't
think that that was because of any kind of quote
unquote go woke goo broke bullshit like some people will say.
I think it was just that the Acolyte had a
really poorly developed story and poorly developed characters, and Door
is the exact opposite of that, and Or builds this
(43:40):
world that is very lived in with characters that we know,
characters that are new to us, and it builds a
compelling story inside of a universe that is very well
known at this point that's been going on since seventy six,
and it's it's brilliant in its simplicity. It doesn't try
(44:04):
to do too much, It doesn't try to build new
lore to the point to where it you know, may
or may not contradict something that was done thirty five,
forty five years ago. It's just a well told story
with well crafted characters, and part of that is just
(44:27):
how good Diego Luna is as an actor. But the
story is just so well told. And if you're going
to build an interconnected universe like this is just like
this should be in textbooks at like USC's filmmaking school.
(44:48):
That's how good this is. So I don't want to
get into the minutia of and Or because it did
just end and there are people still catching up with it,
but it was a just absolutely amazing set, two season series.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
I think you can. I don't think enough people are
listening to this. I think you can get into anything
you want. And then yeah, people do. If they do
end up finding this, then thank you for finding it.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Yeah, I'm just saying it's it's just again, it's a
brilliant piece of storytelling that tells us this little known
section of this universe and.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
Less a little now just yeah, just.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
So freaking cool. And I think more more companies should
look at sis AM because your tent pole stuff, you're
connected universe stuff, it's not going anywhere like that's we're there,
like the genies out of the bottle. So yeah, I
(45:57):
just think, uh, go watch in. It's only twenty four episodes.
It won't take you long. It's on Disney Plus, it's amazing.
Check it out.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Perfect. Yeah, Nick, have you watched the most recent episode
of the Last of Us? I have. Oh man, it's
really emotional, especially going back because obviously I'm sure you're
you're more familiar with those scenes with the flashbacks with
the space shuttle. I think it was just really well done.
(46:32):
I think it like putting Pedro and Bella, I think
they I mean, I think Pedro has great chemistry with everybody.
I think he brings out the best in everybody right
now because he just has this charm that makes everybody
feel comfortable. So and I think he's getting the best
out of Bella Ramsey in those scenes. So and she's
doing great. I think this episode, especially how angry she
(46:58):
got at the end, and it was you felt her
being angry and about him lying and his consistently lying,
and but it was It's a really good episode. I
loved there at the very beginning with going back to
(47:23):
like nineteen seventy three in Austin with eighty three out
of his dad.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
And Joel and Tommy.
Speaker 2 (47:30):
Yeah, and I thought that actor was great. I can't
think of his name right now. I put my phone
in airplane mode. Tony Dalton. I thought he was fantastic,
Like in five minutes, like just that scene was just
so emotional, and obviously it calls back later he kind
(47:52):
of references, I just hope you do better than I did.
I thought that was just a fantastic scene. So the
episode was great.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
You know, it was a very action packed which I
actually enjoyed. It was much more drama filled and it
was more of a character piece, which which is what
I think you need for a penultimate episode most of
the time, to be completely honest with you, because you
know we're it's gonna get emotional in the in the
(48:26):
season finale for sure, and there's probably gonna be a
ship ton of action, would be my guess.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
So see, I don't know obviously where it goes from here.
We we've only just barely been introduced to the wolves,
and then the and then the the group that lives
outdoors and stuff. I can't remember who they are, but
I think we're not going to really deal with the
wolves too much. I don't think we're not gonna get it.
(48:53):
I think we're gonna get it. Get a glimpse of
Abby with with Ellie, I think just to like maybe
they see each other and have a commerce like and
they have an exchange. But I think we're going to
be dealing with that primarily that that what are they called,
(49:16):
the people who like whistle and stuff and have like
this like leaving her and stuff. Oh damn it, Yeah,
I can't remember what they're called. But I think we're
primarily going to be dealing with them. I don't think
we're going to be dealing with the wolves too much.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
I think that scene after the New Year's Eve party
at the end of the episode, between Ellie and Joel
on the porch, maybe some of the on the porch
maybe some of the the best storytelling in this entire series,
just how elegants and and how you know, you can
(50:02):
feel the emotion Pedro is putting into into that scene
as he's you know, tearful and admitting what he did
at how pi Ellie is Bella really comes across amazing
about you know, he he basically stole her lapis, and
(50:25):
I think she starts to feel the weight of that
and you can see it just on their faces. Super
cool scene, well written, terrifically acted. This show is amazing.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Yeah, and to think the next day is the scene
is episode three where uh what's it called all where
Joel dies uh, And so it's literally it's we that
scene that we saw of them on the porch. The
next day he's gone, yep, but they had that conversation.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
Yeah, which even yeah, which adds even more weight to
to the situation. So like it's just it's brilliant.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
Neil Truckman actually directed that episode.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
Yeah, I saw that on the behind the scenes whenever,
like because you always stay for the credits for the
Last of Us. Yeah, yeah, so I was. I was
very happy with that. I oh, dang, that actually reminds
me since mythic Quest ended, I need to watch the
alternate ending.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah, I haven't done that yet. Thank you for reminding. Yeah,
but yeah, any any other TV specific news that you
can think of.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
Well, you wanted to talk about Sesame Street.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
I did just a real real quick thing. Obviously we
do not share away from our politics on this podcast.
The uh Trump administration has decided that PBS is not
worth it and actually canceled Sesame Street, and thankfully, for
(52:08):
the first time ever I can say this, Thankfully Netflix
has picked up the streaming rights to Sesame Street.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
So.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
Sesame Street will still be a thing moving forward.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
And honestly, what they should do if Netflix is smart.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Not a thing that I would think I would have
to say.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
Yeah, if Netflix is smart, and unfortunately West doesn't. If
Netflix is smart, and this doesn't take away from the
people who do not have Internet access, but they should
make Sesame Street available for free on their on their website.
If you just go to Netflix, even if you don't
have an account, you should be able to watch Sesame Street.
Speaker 1 (52:49):
You're damn right. So yeah, again, I can't believe we
live in a in a world where.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
System where where.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Sesame Street was going to be canceled. But hey, here
we are welcome to twenty twenty five. The just a
couple of bits of news that I want to get
to before we get to something I know we both
want to talk about with Game Changer. Conan O'Brien has
been cast in an unknown or excuse me has been
(53:24):
cast as the voice of Smarty Pants in Toy Story five,
which is due in theaters next June.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
I did watch it. Apparently the go ahead.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
Sorry, no, apparently this this fifth installment is going to
center around Buzz Woody and Jesse, Uh, dealing with kids
who are obsessed with electronics. So I'm sure Conan will
bring some kind of fun to hit smartiness to mister
(53:57):
smarty pants.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
I have watched The Mark Twain Prize twice. Yes, it's
I think it's one of the funniest comedy specials in
a long time. Uh. The Will Ferrell, Will Ferrell refusing.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
Refusing to give him the Mark Twain Award because he
promised him after he got it.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
Yeah, yeah, and then Adam Sandler, I assumed we were
done giving these out.
Speaker 1 (54:27):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
The only thing missing from that broadcast was Kevin Neil
And at the end to come out and say, I
don't believe giving this prize trice to you.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
How good was the the Will Forte coming up as
it was at the.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
It was perfect, Like the entire thing was perfect. I mean, actually,
him coming up as coming in as Mark Twain actually
made me go back and rewatch all of his appearances
as Ted Turner on Conan. There's a forty five there's
a forty five minute cut that's all of the times
that he's appeared on Conan as Ted Turner. It's fantastic.
(55:20):
The auctioneer who did his thanks for him. Yes, it
was so perfectly Conan. Nicki Glazer was great. The entire day.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
Committee gave us Nicki Glazer gave us the Walker Texas
Ranger Lever, Yes, as well as the Interrupter.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
Yes, oh god, yeah, she did give us the Interrupter,
a character nobody.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Was asking, nobody was asking for.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
Conan was Conan's perfect.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
So I again, we talked about the ending starting with
them asturbating Bear.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Was perfect, like especially the speech before that, especially in
this new administration, we strive to be like proper and
to show the values of the American people and then
masturbate it was. It was perfect. Actually. I also I
(56:24):
also really wish that he would have been there, because
I think he's just so perfect for something like this
and he would never get this platform anywhere else. Rory
Scobel could have been on the day. Ask I did
rewatch his two most recent specials, Try to Stand Up
for the First Time and Sex God and and and
(56:45):
other things. God. He is such a good comic, such
a good comic.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
He's so good and he rolls, he's so he's so
earnest about it is the thing he does not on something,
he does not give up on something. I watched the
entire section of his stand up where he was talking about.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
Anal Yeah, that's the beginning of Yeah, that's the beginning
of of try stand up for the first time.
Speaker 1 (57:16):
Ye try to stand up for the first time. And
he just he doesn't give up going. He goes on
for like three and a half minutes about anal sex.
Speaker 2 (57:25):
Yes, who's the doctor lawyer here?
Speaker 1 (57:28):
Should not work? It totally works.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
This guy was what you're saying. You know, he could
have just been saying, but fuck, who's the doctor lawyer?
But yeah, And you can't just you can't say, you
can't say butt fuck anything any other way except for
like a redneck because if you just say but fuck,
it sounds weird. Sounds weird, but fuck that sounds right.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
But but no, the mark of ceremony, the whole thing perfect.
Speaker 2 (58:04):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (58:05):
The only other thing I want to bring up is
in the last week we had the release of the
last full trailer for Superman.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
It was fantastic.
Speaker 1 (58:18):
And when I tell you, like right now, I just
thinking about the damn trailer, I'm getting goosebumps and James
Gunn I trust Man is up here. Yeah, this is
the Superman I have wanted to see on screen since
the first time I saw Christopher Reeve make me believe
(58:40):
a man could fly. I will be in my normal
seat f ten in the DX screen at the Marcus
Theater opening fucking night, and I will probably see that
damn movie at least three times in the theater because
(59:03):
it is It is hopeful, it's colorful, It blends drama
and comedy. It looks like it has comic accurate looking
characters but with their own take like it is everything
it has. It has crypto man. It we get in
twenty twenty five, I get maybe it's CGI, but I
(59:27):
get a live action fucking crypto.
Speaker 5 (59:29):
Yeah yeah if and we don't get the bullshit of
this is how Superman came to be Superman.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
Like Lois Lane knows Clark Kent as Superman at the
beginning of this fucking movie.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
I really really enjoyed that part of the trailer where
she's just grilling him, and she's not like pulling punches
on the questions she is asking him real journalist questions
and expecting him to a answer.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
Corn Sweat looks at her and goes, let's go cron
Kite as in the Superman.
Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
He yeah, he drops the voice, helps the voice, and
I got that was the first time I was like, Okay,
I believe in in David cornsway. I believe in him,
like I didn't not believe in him, but I just
hadn't seen it yet enough of it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
Yeah, and that there's two scenes in that trailer, three
scenes the all right, kron Kite, let's do it. When
they're they're talking, but you've brought it up a couple
of times, the eyes up here, and then he just
shoots up and the camera literally can't keep up with him.
It's beautiful. And then there's just this moment where we
see corn Sweat as Superman rising up out of this
(01:00:44):
fog or smoke and it looks like it was pulled
straight from a fucking comic book. Yeah, and it's do
you know what?
Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
Do you know? What I actually I like the most
is where his his suit and himself is a little charred,
especially from the back. I think that's just like that
makeup looks so pretty, like he looks he looks great.
The makeup of the char looks great. I think it's
just a pretty pretty visual of him.
Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
So Gun's gonna get Gun's gonna give us great visuals.
Let's hope the story holds up because he didn't write
it as well.
Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
I believe Nicholas Holt. Nicholas hol choose a lot of
bad things.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
He looks like a great legs lutor. It looks like
he's trying this new take with a little bit of
rosen bomb in it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Yeah, that's what I'm okay with that. That's what what's
his name? Yeah, it was like I didn't watch Smallville,
so I can't really comment, but yeah, I look forward
to it. I did watch that trailer. I know you
send me trailers, and I just I give you a
good thumbs up.
Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
I don't want thumbs up to note that you didn't
watch them.
Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
I don't watch trailers, but superhero movies usually I know
that they're not going to give anything away.
Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
So yeah, yeah that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
But this gave me great vinees. This gave me great vibes.
Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
Let's let's go ahead and move on to a little
game changers. Let's let's talk about drop out in general,
because I think Dropout is putting out some fantastic stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Right now, great comedy content.
Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
Game Changers has been excellent. I have not watched tonight's
episode yet. I plan on watching that very soon.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Josh Johnson's on it. Yeah, dude, I'm like I've I
love Josh Johnson.
Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
And j Johnson's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
The best part about Josh Johnson, I know we keep
just saying his full name and everything. The best thing
about him is he puts out like an hour of
new material like every week or every other week. He
is just so such a like made to be a comedian. Uh.
There's also Jihn Marco as well, and I don't recognize
(01:02:50):
the third name. Maybe I will whenever I see watch
the show, but I'm looking really, I mean, they don't
really miss They've they've missed a couple of times.
Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
But it's like our curry is the name.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Yeah. They they do a good job. They find a
good show in there, and if it's not, it's fine
because there are other great shows. Parlor Room. I watched
the first two episodes so much fun. I don't remember.
The first game was was a lot of fun, but
second game, Vic's game with the guns and everything. I
(01:03:23):
thought it was so like because Vic Jacob, Vi, Vic
Jacob and and Lou have such a tight knit friendship.
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
That such a great chemistry.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
That them playing with each other is very fun to watch,
just because they those three love each other so much
and all they want to do is well, absolutely big
fun stuff. So I'm happy those three work together so
well because Vic is very busy.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
I I in fact watched that Parlor Room and then
immediately went back and watched the season opener of Game
Changers so I could watch the three of them again.
So they're just so good to go. We did get
a trailer from Listen in the Year of Our Lord
(01:04:15):
twenty twenty five, D and D is selling out Madison
Square Garden not just once but multiple times, and our
first canon event from a Dimension twenty story called Chungle
in the Jungle. I am a huge Dimension twenty fan.
(01:04:38):
I have watched all the Bad Kids stuff multiple times.
Chuckle Down Down Bim was a one off character in
the first season of Fantasy High. He's a pirate who
threatened to shit and lose mouth, and we're getting We're
(01:05:00):
getting him back in a one off story story in
that same Square garden. Yeah, so I'm excited. Like every
there's not much content that is brought out on the
dropout platform that I don't just imbibe almost immediately and enjoy.
Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
Yeah, I enjoy a lot of it. I mean, Dirty
Laundry is a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
Very important people. Brennan and Is.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
He is, this is the power of wrestling, this is
and then they know nothing about wrestling, thing about wrestling.
The season finale of was fantastic. Sorry, I know we're
I think we covered all the newer stuff on dropout
unless they're like, yeah, I mean I don't get into
(01:05:50):
the D and D stuff too much myself. I would
rather play it than even listen to it. But I'm
happy that it's big right now. And I think it's
partly D and D. But I think it was just
it's the that group of people. I think they just
they're very entertaining and they sell, they sell tickets. So
(01:06:15):
but SNL's season finale, Scarlett Johansson was it wasn't like
the funniest episode it was like, but it was a
great season. It could have been so much better had
had things gone better in November, uh, because we would
have had maya Rudolph on all season. We would have
(01:06:38):
had ten uh, Jim Gaffigan all season, we would have
had Andy Samberg all season. It would have been an
even better season. But I was happy that they brought
back Bowen still straight. Uh that that like kind of
(01:06:58):
digital short. Uh because my face, Like I know I'm
biased because I but the I have a crush on
somebody on the cast. Who is it creepy creepy Longfellow was.
It was so funny to me. But in that's ego
(01:07:19):
New Autumn, she was in like I think her three
hundred sketch in Heidi Gardner, I believe hit six hundred.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
Holy crap.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
I commented, like last week, I can't remember who hosted
last week Walton Goggins fantastic episode as well. But Heidi
Gardner is kind of like the perfect SNL cast member,
like she was for that show because she can go
(01:07:49):
insane on a dime and like whenever she was doing
the Lady on on Weekend up date last week, Uh,
who would just go Uh? I heard the woman visiting
New York who do only ever listen read about New
(01:08:09):
York from Facebook? Yes, I heard on Facebook a woman white.
Um just the look on her face. She kills it.
Heidi Gardner sending your flowers now while you can.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
Yeah, but proud Kansas City. And for me, for me, this.
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Hell up. You're chunkin. You're chunking. You're chunking like you were, no,
like you're Yeah, that's a term, that's that's a term
from uh. This is important. The the workaholics, you're chunk
(01:09:01):
if you're, if you're if the wi Fi, I think
it's probably on my end. If the wi fi goes
a little weird, always say chunk it. Sorry, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
H For me this season, low key, the MVP. Maybe
Marcelo it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
Was I think Marcelo and I think second runner up,
first runner up, Andrews mutes yeah, third second, second runner up, Egoto, Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
I think Anna. I think an honorable mention needs to
go to Sarah Sherman.
Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
Though Sarah Sherman was I don't think this was her
best season. Same thing. No, I don't think it sucks
because she's I think, probably my favorite, one of my
favorite cast members. Chloe Feindman this was. I think she
was probably busier or she just was not in enough
sketches this year, which sucks because I love Chloe Fine Maan,
(01:09:56):
I think she's so funny.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
I think Marcello really found his voice this season. You know,
he's been he's been a he's been on since twenty two.
I want to say. I think he was a featured
player in twenty two and then was a repertory player
in twenty three.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
Yeah, I think he got I think he moved up
pretty quick.
Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
Yeah he I just like I said, I think he
really found his voice this season. And it helps that
they that they put him in the Domingo Domingos.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
No, it's a perfect it's a perfect sketch, especially with
as big as as as is it reggaetone like like
I don't know, they like what bad Bunny and like
what they do. It's it's very it's of the moment
right now, which works. But also it's funny. He's very funny. Yeah,
(01:10:52):
Domingo's a great character. Yes, and you get great actors
to join with, like great singers like Sabrina Carpenter, Grande,
you got who else I can't remember, but those those
two alone were just so funny this season. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
And then uh, you know, shout out to Scarlett Johansson
being there like every freaking week. It seemed Colin was
just like, come along, bring the baby.
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
Yeah, I imagine you have to see him sometime.
Speaker 1 (01:11:30):
They did bring Scarlett back out during weekend Update. Yes,
Michael sitting next to Michael for Michael to apologize to her.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
To her, it was great. So, I mean, SNL was fantastic.
Quick thing about w W. Right now, we're a little
bit slow. Right now the off season, we're getting John
Cena versus Our Truth, which I'm very excited for.
Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
Excited for this.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
I hope they don't you see it could be so good.
But I have a feeling.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Did you see the Our Truth the interview that Our
Truth gave about his childhood hero.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
No, I have to I have to watch that one.
It was.
Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
It was just great. It was so it was done
so sincere.
Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
Yeah, because Our Truth is perfect.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
I love killings.
Speaker 1 (01:12:20):
Yeah, I or to that match as long as you
don't fumble it. If they they they need to it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
It needs to be a good payoff because like Our
Truth has been doing this story. Even Sina Sena hasn't
been doing too much part of the story, but Our
Truth has been selling this story for like a decade. Man.
Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Yes, John Cina is his is his childhood hero.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
Let's let's finish this off, right.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
Man, finish the story everything else.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
I mean, I've only really been watching Raw all the
way through lately. I'm even and completely lost on what's
happening on RAW right now.
Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
It has been a little off, to be honest with you.
I mean, we did get Alistair Black a few weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
Yes, I've watched his matches.
Speaker 1 (01:13:12):
His matches have been okay. I think.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
I just happy birthday, Alistair. You just turned forward.
Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
Carmelo Hayes could be so much better than he is. Like,
I love the guy. I think he has fantastic like
in ring skills, but I feel like they don't know
what the fuck to do with him. Maybe I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
Well, I mean they have him with Miz right now.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Is that argue the I'm with Miz right now? The
Miz right now?
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
I think. I think what it needs to happen is
whenever Trick Williams finishes up with NXT, they'll have it.
They'll have a program, hopefully on WWE, and that will
catapult both of them. It's probably gonna catapult Trick, but
I think those two have such great chemistry with each
other already that I think w like the WWE fans
(01:14:04):
want to see that match again in an actual ring,
So I think if they can't catapal Trick from there,
not catibal uh Carmelo. I have a feeling it's gonna
end up like one of the future releases that we
(01:14:25):
we look to later and like, man, what happened? Yeah,
didn't book him? Right, you didn't like but and sometimes
well I say that when I'm even I'm trying to
make the booking of him versus Trick, But I know
Trick is gonna uh be the one who goes up
on that one. So it's just it's what you do
after that and how you tell that story to get
(01:14:47):
people to care more about Carmelo and less about Trick
because Trick Trick can get him back. Trick has great,
has great chemistry with the people. Carmelo is a great
he but unfortunately, like nowadays, you have to become if
you come up as a heel, you have to go face,
and you have to find the crowd and then you
(01:15:09):
can go here and then you go he But they
haven't done enough to get Carmelo as a face. He
hasn't had that turn yet, So I think if you
bring in Trick Trick like I think, because he's doing
a great heel run right now, you let him come
in and try and be the heel and and get
Carmelo over. I think that's where it can succeed.
Speaker 1 (01:15:31):
Agreed. I so as far as Raw is concerned, Like,
it's a fucking mess right now, I honestly, But the
story is, the story is just it's all over the
fucking place.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
It's Seth, it's Seth and Braun with against Sammy and
I can't remember who came to sam see him, uh,
which I'm not sure about. I mean, I think you
have to give it time to breathe because I didn't
believe in the Judgment Day at first. I thought that
was stupid. And even whenever, even whenever Edge got let
(01:16:11):
go from from Judgment Day and it became Finn Baler
and Damien Priest and Rhea, that even took a while
to figure it out. And you know what, it's still
happening now. So you have to give Seth, Braun and
and uh Paul time to breathe. It's it's not gonna
be like over in meeting.
Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
It's not a it's not an overnight thing. This is
gonna be long term story.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
These are growing pains, so like, and this is the
exact time to do it. This is the exact.
Speaker 1 (01:16:39):
Exactly do it. You know, we're in between Mania and
Summer Slam. You know, Summer Slam. This is gonna be
the first two night Summer Slam that's ever happened.
Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
So Kieren Coulkin is going to be there.
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
I will say this, there was you know, I've never
been a huge Nya Jacks fan personally, but her, her
and Tiffany Stratton had a great match that bloodied the
hell out of Naya Jack's at the end. I guess
she caught that chair just a little, a little right,
(01:17:15):
But you know, Tiffany, Tiffany Stretton's having a nice little
run right now. I hope they do more with her.
It looks like Alexa Bliss is going to have it
out with Charlotte Flair, which should be a good storyline.
I'm always down for more Chelsea Green. So if we
could get more Chelsea Green, I'd be real happy with that,
(01:17:37):
I think.
Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
And her secret.
Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
Secret service always forget what they called themselves. Yeah, so
SmackDown's got some stuff that they could do right now
for sure. That's it. Yeah, I'm already tired, uh you know,
flipping back to RAW. I'm already tired of elk Americano.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
You know what. I think they're playing the long game
because they have they have a Triple A man Triple
Mania or Triple A promotion that they purchased. They're going
to send him down to Mexico for like a month.
I hope his family is okay with it, but I
think he'd be the perfect w W E heel to
(01:18:24):
show up in Triple A and and be like that
foreign heel. He'd be the foreign heel. I think that
is the long game that they need to play with
with this Chad Gable. Eld even have Chad Gable show
up on RAW while.
Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
He's down doing down in Mexico.
Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
Yeah, just and make it so that Chad Gable, like
whenever he's on RAW, he's visibly exhausted because he has
to travel from from Mexico to wherever RAW is. Yeah. Yeah,
I think that like, oh, it would suck for Chad.
Admittedly it would suck for Chad, but it'd be great TV.
(01:19:06):
That would be great.
Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
You've convinced me I should.
Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
I should write for w W Are you kidding me?
I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of what they're doing
with Becky Lynch right now because it feels rudderless.
Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
I get that, I do. I could also rationalize that too.
Speaker 1 (01:19:27):
I mean, well, it also feels like they're trying to
do the same thing with Becky that they are doing
with John Cena Little. It's the problem.
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
Can I tell you what I think the long game
is on this one. Sure, she's pushing Lyra, she's helping
Lyra get over and you know what, not at SummerSlam,
even though it would probably be the bigger moment to
do it. Actually, you know what, dude, Summer Survivor Series. No,
because I think at that point you can get Lyra
(01:19:59):
gets really close at Survivor Series. Like what I'm saying
is SummerSlam. Honestly, you may have vent Night one with
Lyra versus Becky. Lyra versus Becky. You may event night
one with those two because they can put on a
great match. They can put on a banger. Becky goes over.
Becky wins that match. He heel tactics all the way,
(01:20:22):
she gets she she builds Lyra up all the way
through Survivor Series, uh, and what's it called, Becky almost
loses it, but I think maybe that's when she gets
a heel like a a an escort or whatever they're
called now, partner, a partner, and maybe a call up,
(01:20:45):
even maybe someone who's not even shown up on n
XC at all. You bring somebody up for that and
then interferes that Survivor Series. Lyra gets so close and
then Lyra gets it at Royal Rumble because you have
to have a championship match at I mean you don't
have to, but you usually have a championship match for
(01:21:07):
the women's title at Rumble. So yeah, I don't have Becky.
Becky holds it from Summer Slam to Rumble. It's good,
good storytelling.
Speaker 1 (01:21:15):
I could see it. Yeah, No, you're right though, we
are kind of on the off times right now, so
you know, we're we'll start building here in the next
probably month and a half. I would say by by
end of June beginning of July, you'll start to see
that push for for Summer Slam, especially since again it
is the first time and it's going to be two nights.
Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
Well, we also have money in the bank too, which.
Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
Where and we're building up on that right now. You know,
we're having the elimination matches for Money in the in
the Bank right now?
Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Are you probably the third best pay per view?
Speaker 1 (01:21:54):
It's good. I thoroughly enjoy Money in the Bank any
ladder matches?
Speaker 2 (01:21:59):
Yeah, I'm in all right?
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
Nick?
Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Hey, how about we call it there? I think we've
been talking a while.
Speaker 1 (01:22:05):
That's that's a lot of content.
Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
We had a lot to catch up on, but got it.
Was great to see you.
Speaker 1 (01:22:12):
Great to see you as well, sir. I've been here
the whole time.
Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
Are you available next Monday or would it be better?
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
Yes? Absolutely, absolutely, let's do. Let's do next Monday?
Speaker 2 (01:22:23):
All right? Nick? Where can they find you?
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
Buy me on the twitters at Superman's Underscore Papa. You
can find the show on Twitter at was the podcast
excuse me? At was Underscore the podcast?
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):

Speaker 1 (01:22:40):

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):

get any video element out of this as well, since
(01:23:03):
I already have to edit it to take out some
of my studio ideas. And yeah, Nick, Hey, I love you,
love you. See you next week, man, see you
