Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello and welcome everyone. Welcome to the Washington Craft brew
Talk podcast. I am your host, mister Mido. I thank
you so much for listening to me. Hope you guys
are having an amazing day. At the time of this recording,
it is Saturday, the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Of course,
(00:24):
Labor Day is this Monday, September first. But I have
a couple of good ones today that I wanted to try. Now,
I don't know if I want to. Sorry for that noise.
I was my Bluetooth speaker. Give me one second. Here,
get my glass for each one, and I'm not using
(00:49):
your typical beer glass today. I'm using a Jack Daniels,
Tennessee honey glass for each one of these today. But
I have from Fort George Brewery and located in Astoria, Oregon.
(01:13):
This is their city of Dreams, hazy pale ale. It's
a five and a half percent by volume. Doesn't give
any information really other than dreaming mcdreamers in candas on
(01:38):
eight five of twenty five. So we're still we're still
in good standing. This is greetings from Astoria. No real
information on it, unfortunately sucking. Let's see if we can
(01:58):
go and uh. If we can find any information on
Fort George on their website, if they have a website,
Fort George bree website, here we go, you can go. Yeah, sorry,
(02:22):
am I the legal drinking age? Yeah? I would think.
So we're getting ten ten percent off merk and beer
in the online store. Maybe next time. So let's see,
let's view all the beers. Occasionally city rainbows sickles? Is
(02:50):
this a seasonal where's the year round city of Dreams?
Here we go? And it says here on Fort George's website,
which is Fort George Brewery dot com. Once in a
while you find that magical place, a creative influence of
scenic panoramas, bountiful lands and spirit, a site on the
(03:12):
edge of nowhere, yet enticing to all, where the city
scape ends and the open ocean begins. Whether you call
it Shangri Law or Utopia or the City of dreams,
one thing is certain, this hazy, pale ale will find
you there. It has a juicy yeast or juicy quality,
with a plenty of wheat for a hazymouthfeel, tropical and
(03:32):
citrus on the hops, as hoppy as an ipa, with
the abv of a pale ale. So for the hops
they use Citra mosaic eaeka huel melon. I don't know
if I'm pronouncing this right. For malts they used two
row barley pilsner and white wheat flask wheat. And for
(03:53):
yeast they used juice. Very interesting. And so we're just
gonna pour this in in one of the canned or
one of the uh oh, sorry about the forgot the
beer assmar We're gonna pour these one of the Jack
Daniels Stacy hunting glasses, you know, little high ball glasses.
(04:13):
But just enough. There's some as mr for you right there.
This can goes about one pint three ounces, so nineteen ounces. Yeah,
(04:35):
because I still got a good portion of it left.
Mm hmm, a good portion of it left. M hmmm
(05:00):
h all right, as you as uh look, we'll be
able to see the post on the official X machine,
which is at our product. Judging by the color here,
(05:22):
it is a hazy. You can tell it's hazy, I mean,
which is good. It smells fruity. So let's give it
a taste. We'll try it here in three two one.
Here we go. Yeah, it's it's actually pretty good, not bad,
(05:55):
very enjoyable, right, away. I could tell that it's not hoppy,
not too hoppy. Yeah, I mean that's that's good stuff.
I like that. That's really good. So for Fort George
City at Dreams Hazy pale Ale, we're gonna, we're gonna
(06:17):
gride in on the can. The can itself looks just
fantastic and lots of cool, lots of designs on it
of the city of Astoria. You know, a big shout
out to Carson Ellis who made this can. If you
ever get to Astoria, Oregon, definitely check these guys out.
(06:38):
They are a member of the Independent Craft Brewers Association.
Of course it has greetings from Astoria. So the can
is great. The scent of the beer itself, it's very
fruit eat you know, you can smell the fruit in there,
and that's a wonderful thing in a pale Hazy pale
(07:01):
ale pal ipa, et cetera, et cetera. Colorwise, it looks
like exactly like at Hazy I Pa, but it's not
as strong as a hazy I p a is, So
that's a bonus. So at five and a half percent,
I mean that's like cruising down. That's like literal sipping.
(07:25):
You're sitting on an inner tube. You know it's gonna
be hot here again this next week in Vancouver, Washington.
That'd be perfect for sitting on, sitting in a lake
or river, preferably a river, you know, when you're away
from killed, away from kids, all that stuff. Now, I
said I had two to review today, and I do.
(07:47):
This next one comes to us from our old friends
at Two Towns Cider House. Now, this is a called
Strawberry Strawberry Lemonade cider made with strawberries and mired lemons.
And Two Towns Cider House is based out of Corvallis, Oregon,
and this one is made with apple wine, meyer lemons, strawberries,
(08:10):
hibiscus maloch acids, and soul fights. And on the profile
it says fruity and quenching strawberry aid packs the best
of the West into every sip. Juicy West Coast strawberries
and pangy California meyer lemons blend perfectly with Northwest apples
to make a pink lemonade cider that will have you
(08:31):
living your zest life. Rush always whole ingredients, which is
a good thing. They are on Facebook, Instagram, and x
at Two Towns Cider it is gluten free. Try this
(08:57):
one out. Oh yeah, that sounds oh all right, so
let's try this one in a second. Here, bollocks, interesting color,
(09:30):
very interesting color. Not gonna lie. It is a very
very interesting color. The can itself looks fantastic. I mean
it's vibrantly colored. I mean there's a vibrant color to it.
(09:59):
There's I mean it looks like strawberry lemonade. Doesn't look
like pink lemonade though, like it's said on like it
said on the can. I mean I'm even holding it
up to a light. It looks just like regular strawberry lemonade.
To me. Maybe my nose is plugged now from that
(10:22):
kazy pala a little bit. We'll try it again. Hm hmmm.
I smell more lemon than I use strawberry. So let's
uh give this a taste, after which we'll go on
to uh we'll see if you can find two towns
on line and I can give you their link. So
here we go. Okay, right away, I can taste a
(11:01):
lemon and I oh, I'm getting strawberry now, and it's
oh yeah, there we go. Yes, that's what I'm talking
about right there, that's what you want a good strawberry
fanastic love it all right? So oops, my fingers are
(11:27):
not the greatest. Hyping on the phone to insider House bingo.
And they are at two townsider House dot com. And
(11:48):
I hope that everyone can actually get to both of
these places, you know, and I will post a link
to each of the U I will post a link
to each of the places in the description box here.
(12:13):
So Two towns Cider House for your strawberry. Your can
is very vibrantly colored. It's it's got everything you want.
It's got you know, I don't know if that's let's see,
is that I don't know what mountain that is. To
be honest, I don't have my glasses on. Now. I
got the got the lemon tree, got the strawberries, got
the mountains. And of course you've got another lemon here. Okay,
(12:40):
it's colorful, it's six and a half percent, so you
got to be careful with that. Again. That's a That's
the downfall of a lot of ciders, is they they
creep up on you. I mean, you could you could
be drinking one or two of them and then the
next thing you know, you're feeling a little bit tipsy
and you know it, it's happened. Okay, Visually it looked
(13:08):
more like I said, more like a strawberry lemonade. And
that's not a bad thing at all. That's not a
bad thing. I love. I love strawberry lemonade. I mean that,
don't get me wrong. That is that is awesome taste wise.
You know, you taste the lemon right away, but then
you get that strawberry on the back end and it
just bounces out very well. So for each beer, I'm
(13:30):
going to rate them both a respectable five and a
half out of five. Very tasty, very very well, you know,
perfect for summer. I can't say enough. I'm not going
to mix these two like I know, like I would
(13:50):
with an ip a and a cider, but still they're
good enough on their own. So that brings me to
our next piece of ine is very very soon, probably
within the next week or so. Your boy here is
going to have his very own Etsy store with official
(14:11):
merchandise for all three of these shows that I have,
which I have now called all three of them together
the Washington Podcast Network. So you'll have shirts for the
Washington Wrestle Talk, the Washington Craft Brew Talk, and the
Washington State football talk. So keep an eye out for that.
You know, you can keep an eye out a triple
(14:32):
our product on X. But yes, exciting time for me.
Now it comes to the time of the show where
I have to say you know what that means. You know,
you got to know your limit? No when to say when?
I mean because impaired driving, drug driving. It's costly. I mean,
(14:55):
I've seen it personally. If you feel like it, you've
had too much to drink and to go home, there's options.
You can call a cab, call an uber, call a lift,
I'll tipty toeing, I'll tell your car home for you.
You know, take the bus, which is what I do.
If you're close enough walk pick you up. Never ever
(15:17):
drink and drive. It's costly for you, it's costly for
your family. It's costly for the family and of other
people you hurt. Please do not do that. All right, guys,
we lo that's going to wrap it up for me.
I hope you enjoyed it. Hope you have to check
out all my other podcast episodes, whether you get where
you get your your podcast fix on Spotify, iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts,
(15:39):
Amazon Podcasts, pod Bay, Podbean, and lord knows where else
I'm at these days. All right, Well, that's going to
wrap it up for me. I hope you guys have
a wonderful, wonderful Labor Day weekend, and I will probably
be doing a football talk show tomorrow now that college
football is in full swing and we've had some upsets already.
(16:03):
Until then, guys, take care, I'll see you in the
next one. Be safe, all right, love y'all, Bye bye.
