Right now we're looking at clear skies overnight with temperatures dropping to a balmy 69 degrees. That's what I call a defensive cool down! Tomorrow's gonna be sunny with a high near 101 degrees - talk about a heat blitz! Winds will be light and easy, coming from the east southeast around 5 miles per hour.
Now, it's time for our Weather Playbook segment! Today, we're diving into something called the Urban Heat Island effect. Imagine a football stadium where all the players and fans create extra heat - that's basically what cities do! Concrete and buildings absorb and retain heat, making urban areas significantly warmer than surrounding rural landscapes. In Mesa, we're basically playing in a heat dome, folks!
Three-day forecast incoming - and I'm gonna call these plays like a pro:
Friday: Sunny, 101 degrees
Saturday: Sunny, 102 degrees with east winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour
Sunday: Mostly sunny, 104 degrees with winds shifting around
