and I just before we get started into your Weep
into Warrior story, and I know I kind of read
a little bit about your bio, but share with the

(06:16):
audience just a little bit about yourself before we get
into your story.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Okay, definitely, I am a country girl. You're not the city,
but eventually we moved to the city. I just I'm
a chad of the King. First of all, just a
sermon of God. I love the right, I love the scene.

(06:44):
I am married to my awesome husband, which is George James.
You know, God has just blessed us tremendously just through
life through ministry, through love, even in marriage. I'm from Arlend,
from Hendis, Sextas, and I stayed in Arleans and uh now, okay,

(07:07):
am excited to be here. I'm just I need to
just stop to y'all and just absolutely yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
So you said I am a country girl, so all right, well,
thank you for being here.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
So it's Alicia.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I would just love for you to share with us
a time in your life that you went through, you know,
some challenges and some obstacles, and just share with us
what those challenges were before we get into the warrior parts.
So we're gonna talk about the weeping first, that you're
weeping moment when you were actually lowest of lowest.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Lowis and Lois, I can say, I'm just in with
using my book, I can just say there's a lot
of things in there, but I can talk about at
my lowest when I feel like unwanted love people say,

(08:06):
not seen not by people, but even you know, family
members and you know, just black sheep of the family simply, uh,
simply because you know the way I was raised, uh,
the way I was born into my family, which is ancestry.

(08:29):
So uh, it makes you feel like the black sheep
of the family, like I said, unwanted. You know, that's
the girl that da da da da, you know, you
know talking about and I mean just going through that
and then dealing with molestation at a young age, at

(08:50):
that same young age. Just you know, like I said,
when molestation happens or rape happens, it makes you feel ugly,
you know, undeserving. I wanted, uh, you know those things.
And you know the enemy is trying to come in
and he had planned these certain the same words I
just said, or sees that he has planted mentally, uh

(09:13):
and emotionally in my mind and in my thoughts, you know.
And so like they say, he'll give you an identity.
So I took on that identity that the enemy gave me.
But the Lord saw fit to have mercy, you know,
and grace, and which gave me understanding and wisdom on

(09:36):
you know that I'm not any of the lives that
the devil has told me. You know that I have wondered, wanted,
that I am loved, that I am here for you
know that I am seen, uh and seen being seen
by God is the most important things to want to
be God pleasers and not pleased men. So I got

(09:58):
to a very low point U in my life, and
it just it carried out through middle school all the
way through high school and in high schools where I
tried to take my life. It was just you know,
not only that I was even I was top in

(10:21):
my classes, uh time athlete. You would look at me
and never think that I was doing or going through
all these things. Uh, one student, just you know, pressure
and still having that baggage that comes with you all
of us into adolescents as you get older. That's why

(10:43):
deliver deliverance is necessary because if not, you will have
this stuff with you. But going through that, I got
to a point to where I just went and got
home from school after practice. My mom I haven't came
home yet, my sister and my dad hadn't came on yet.

(11:04):
So I went in there and at the point I
was just like Lauren' tired over this. You know, I
don't have to be here. They wouldn't care when nobody
cared to be in alive of it would be you know.
So I went in there and I found the strongest
medicine I could find, uh in the cabin, uh, and
I took some peels out and I laid on one

(11:27):
by one by one by one on there, and I
went to pick up one, and I took one, and
I went to take the other one. And as I
took the other one, I could hear the voice of
the Lord so clear, and it said stop. At that time,
there was nobody in the house but me, and so

(11:49):
of course I'm looking around here like, yeah, this medicine
is kicking a kind of fast, right right, yeah, you know.
And so I'm sitting here and I went to pick
up another peal, and uh, the voice was even stronger,

(12:09):
way stronger, and to the point that it scared me. Yeah,
the Lord. So I put it down, or I put
it down, and I got up and I put everything,
all the tills back in the bottles and I put
them back on the shelf. And at that time, my
mom came in with my little sister, and of course

(12:32):
they came in and I was like, how's your day? Me, Oh,
it was a good day, good day, you know, they
was good. You know, I was, you know, thinking to
commit suicide. You know, it was a good day, you know,
smer day. I went on about my day, you know,
curious about the voice of a guy. After that, day,

(12:53):
you know, and you know, things begin to turn up,
words begin to change.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Wow, Delicia, Wow wow, just thinking about your story. I
during that time of you going through what what did
you do to cope you know, feeling like you know
alone and feeling despair and feeling like you know, not wanted.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
What were some ways that you coped.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
With that and with that stress and that anxiety and
that that burden.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Well that we've been molested. And then, like I said,
you bring baggage with you, which opened up curiosity and
so I would turn with like self pleasure, Like I
was seven years old, knowing how to pleasure myself. You know,
that's something the child shouldn't be doing. But because of

(13:47):
the things, it took place of something I learned to do.
And you know, as I got into like middle school,
encountered even more people, I mean more kids at the
age my age that was doing the same thing. That's
how I learned about porn. I got into porn really heavy,
and watching porn. I was sneaking, uh you know, pants

(14:12):
room and when they go to work being there watching it.
That's just you know that that's something I would cope
with when I felt like I was just you know,
just disgusted with myself already. That's something I would go.
So I would go do that, and then I'll be
back out you know, yeah, you doing back in the run,

(14:36):
back in the swinging things. And whenever that happened, you know,
I would drift off right back to it. So that's
howt That was a coping mechanism that I would use. Also, isolation,
I'd be by myself and like to be around by,
be around anybody, or hear people with the voice sings,
which is another deceptive you know that the enemy will

(15:01):
do it will isolate you, you know, and then all
of a sudden you wouldcome used to that and it
becomes a poor part of you, you know, isolating and
shunning people to the point where I just didn't want
to hear people. Get out there, you know, you know,
playing my best B ball, running my best track grains

(15:22):
and then still feeling like crap, I'm going right back
home and go back to that. What that pleasure? That
pleasure that wasn't a good pleasure for me. That's why
I would cope with that. Uh alcohol, I was sneaking,
so the you know, the covers and uh alcohol, but

(15:46):
I'm a coping methodism. That's what I would run to.
I would run too pork, I would go to porn
and then go back. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Yeah, so you were finding unhealthy ways to cope, you know,
the unhealthy ways.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah yeah, Wow Delicia. Wow.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
So so you talked about you know, going through you know,
as a child, your your trauma and trying to cope,
you know, and maybe at.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
That age, maybe for you that was you.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Know, sometimes when we're children, we don't know those coping skills, right,
so we run to something. We may think, oh, that
might be okay for me, it's helping me right now.
But now as we're older, we're learning like that was
a very unhealthy way of coping. So, now, friends, I
want you to hear Delicia's story, because we talked about
her weeping, but now I want her to talk about
her warrior moment, which is gonna probably lead us into

(16:40):
something I'm truly excited to talk about in just a minute.
And so Delicia, please tell us how did you get
from you know, your weeping to your warrior to being
an author, to being a singer and just all the
incredible things and amazing things that you're doing now.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
We would love to hear that I've got to that
if I can go back to where I left awful,
yeah uh yeah, doing uh what deciding to you know,
commit suicide and take these pills. And I stopped at
hearing the voice of God, and I put all those
things up and I went back to my room. So

(17:15):
I went back to my room, and like I said,
it made me want to seek God all the more
to find out about this voice that I heard. And
of course I was in church and uh, you know,
all these things going on, and I was in trenched
every Sunday, dressed up okay, with the right right in

(17:39):
all you know going on. And so I get back,
I go back to my room and I'm just like,
you know something, you know, this can't be It gotta
be something greater, because now that I encounter the voice
of God in which I have never encountered on this
level before. So that you know, I went to church,

(18:03):
you know, choir staying. I asked the lady. I was like,
you know, hey, you know, I know they pray and
they seek God, so that's him, don't corn. I didn't
even talk to Lord. Well, I desire to close and
walk with Christ. So I would go so I say,

(18:23):
choir if there was mothers in the choir, you know, singing,
and they would have prayer time and I would ask him,
you know, like I want to be feeling the Holy Spirit.
How do I be feeling the Holy Spirit? See, people
get filled all the time, and it just ain't having
it for me. But the mother is just like what baby,
Just you get on your knees and you go to

(18:43):
a get up prayer time and spend time with God
and you ask God, you know, to feel you. And
I was like, just like that. She was like yes,
and she said, you gotta believe. That's what she said. Well,
you know, walk away then you know, start next day
going to school and differently things like that. So I
made my mind I was gonna get filled with the
Holy Ghost. Got on knees. Uh, she goott and she

(19:08):
told me, she said, just telling Lord, thank you, Just
tell him thank you. Gee. You know back in the
day they called it terring. You know, he's still tearing
for the Holy Ghost. At that time, I didn't go
that's what i was doing. I'm just you know, I'm
just calling on the namag Jesus. And so, uh, two
days went by. Steve want phield Bible study. Come you
get feeling at me? No, you know, dis port you know,

(19:29):
and I always I can think about me get filled
with the holy ghosts.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Right.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
So I did it again the next day, and I'm
sitting there and I'm telling the Lord, thank you, thank you, Jesus,
thank you. You say thank you, clap your hands, and
then you know, I was tired. I was like tired.
And then the mother said, you're gonna get tired, but
keep going, baby, you know someone in there. Of course,
when nobody's home, you know, before they need to work.
I'm in there and slanky, slinky. Then all of a sudden,

(19:57):
after three days, days and two hours in a thank
you Jesus boom, I experienced stubborn tongue stunning term tongues,
which is uh, you know, uh, their tongues when you
know they're not really formed, you know, but like you know,

(20:18):
and I was like, it happened so quick, it is
scav and I quenched the Holy spirit because at that
time I didn't know what.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Was going on.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
I was like, wait a minute, what was that?

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (20:28):
And then when I realized, you know, when I realized
what it was, I was like, oh, you know, okay,
so uh, you know, just kept going and just kept
growing in Christ and learning more, and of course God
would use me. He was using me to uh from
healing the sick, uh uh, using me to do great miracles,

(20:48):
you know, at that age just now, you know, like
I said in high school sophomore, God was using me
to pray for people and people be getting to live
in you know, like yeah, and then all of a sudden,
it's just it's like God stepped back. I mean, the
Lord stepped back. And when he stepped back, it's like
he stepped back because we were in his image, in

(21:11):
his likeness, and when he stepped back, it made me
see who I was and what was in me that
wasn't a hunk. So of course these things happening, God
using me, yet I was still dealing with the sin,
yet still dealing, you know, with all these things in
the gay. It's like I'll be okay, now you understand

(21:32):
how I desire to use you, or you know, how
I desire you to live your life. You know, so
when that that step back happened, it felt like God
left me. Oh my god, it felt like he left me. Yeah,
I would pray and I felt like I couldn't find
them where and I'm like all these things going and

(21:53):
all of a sudden, it's just you know, disapperiod. It's
like I can't trace someone. I literally couldn't trade. So
I was like, okay, like what is going on? And
that's when God stepped back and he became, you know,
the mirror of the Word of God became the mirror
and see God, he began to show me things in
me that's not of him that he wants to get
rid of, that he wants to take out so he

(22:13):
can purify me and man make me holy and acceptable
in his sight. For He's used, you know, to bring
him glory. Yeah, holiness is what it was. Holiness, So
I have to be clean. I had to be you know, purified.
You know, God's gonna use you. And a lot of
times we're still going through things and God is good

(22:35):
use it, but he wants us to be sure. He
want us to be holy so he can get the
full glory out of us, you know. So after you know,
going through you know, going through that. And then one
day I just went back in the room and it
was like three am in the morning. I went I
went to my room. Of course, my mom and dad

(22:57):
they were in the room. My sister's in the room,
they were sleep. Uh went in my room. I locked
the door, the ceiling fan, you know, and you know
when you turn the ceiling fan off, it just don't
come to a complete stop. It turns a little bit
before it stops. Well, as soon as I.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
Hit shut the door and I locked the door, and
as soon as I laid in my uh, before I
laid in my bed, I got on these and I said,
even though God that used me to do all this stuff,
that doubt you.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Know, uh, you know the enemy, he ain't real. This stuff,
it ain't real. It was you know, all this you know,
got on ease. And it's just like, Lord, if you're real,
prove yourself to me. You know, we asked God to
prove itself over and over again, and he does and
something we just don't we don't see it right, Well
planned to it. He's proven itself to us every day.

(23:49):
But back I'm going back up. So uh he proved this,
he I said, Lord, I proved yourself. I said, hug
me or something just like that. No card, no tongue,
club me or something. So I got up and laid
in my bed. Soon as I laid in my bed
and turned to the TV. Of course the TV was on,

(24:12):
but he was muted, and so as I laid in
the bed, and it's like I see Lint, like you know,
you see link lying all the time in the air. Yeah, Lentz.
When I saw Lynce stand still, it's still still in
mid air. Lnt still still in mid air. When I
looked at the TV, the characters in the TV were

(24:33):
not even moving. It was just like there was just
like somebody took him up control and put pauls and
a DV player so I couldn't get palled. Yeah, it's
like everything in the room came to a total standing still,
and all of a sudden, I felt the presence of
God over take me out of the fire of God

(24:57):
all like her, dude, cry yes, cry and tell the
Lord thank you. That was the only thing coming out
of my vocation, out of thank you Lord. When I say,
it was so overwhelming, like the fire guy, it was
just yeah, I just there's no words to describe it.

(25:19):
But was crying cry, and I got up. Of course
the president God was on me, and it was it
was so heavy, it was heavy. It felt like I
had like twenty jackets just sitting on talk of me
because I couldn't move. And it's like when the President
of God had lifted. I got up and I both
out of like I do a boat out of my

(25:39):
room and I busted my mom and dad room. I
was like, I said, oh my God, and I was
just yelling and crying and crying, and I'm like, what
is it? What is it? What is it? And I
told I had an encounter with the President of the Lord.
The power of the Lord came to my room and
wrested me, and she was just like she was. She

(26:00):
was rejoicing, and my dad was rejoicing. Of course, my
dad was still you know, he was like, Hey, I'm
trying to go to sleep, but sleep so mom, you know,
we me and my mom talked, and then my mom
began to tell me the encounters that she had had

(26:20):
with the Princess of Lord and the angels, the amount
of angels that would show up, you know, and never
knew know this until this encounter, you know. So we
stayed up and we just talked about the goodness of
God and it's grace, and ultimately she began to tell me.

(26:41):
Each of her testimonies was just how God showed up
every time guys would show up. Every time he would
show up and make away. He would show up and
cause break through. He would show up and cause healing.
He would show up and things would change the amount
of the angels that my mom was seeing day in

(27:03):
and day out. So you know, after that day, most
definitely my my mentality things changed that day. Spiritually, uh
naturally everything changed. That my perspective changed, My seek for

(27:25):
the more of God changed because I wanted but whatever
that was that I had right Golord to be the
guy Hallelilliams. But that that they changed me. And you
know after that, I just started seeking guy. And that's
when I found doing poetry. I ended up going to college,

(27:48):
you know, band and playing the sports, but I countered
music and I began to do poetry. And so I
started off with poetry. Uh, the poetry and when it's
a singing and then you know, God just begins to
just you know, just grow and I begin to evolve

(28:08):
of any things of God and then you know, the
gift things that God has from me, I begin to
evolve and you know, graduate and you know, get married
and you know, met my husband, George James, a possible
you know, and things to start, you know, evolving, and
God just started blessing and opening doors and songs to

(28:31):
start pouring and coming out and you know, and you know,
here I am today by you know, by the grace
of God, you know, and you know, going strong, a
warrior in Christ, you know, yeah, with you know, the
many testimonies, but that specific testimony and that specific encounter,

(28:52):
what it told me that God will stop tying for you.
It don't matter who you are, what you're going, or
what you're dealing with, you absolutely from you. He'll come
to your un Jesus ex well, can I go? He'll

(29:19):
show up And it might not feel like when he
show up that you know it's when you want him to.
But when he does blows up and he shows out,
he shows up and blows your mind. He shows up
and changed your perspective, you know.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Yeah, yes, beautiful, yes, And it just makes me think
that you know, you had to experience God for yourself.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
You know, growing up in church, we hear that all
the time.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
You know, God's good, not that he's not, of course,
he's good, but when you have that encounter. You know
that encounter and you you know like, oh my gosh,
I just experienced this, and you you ran and talked
your parents like God is hand, so you have to
you encounter that for yourself.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
That's just like if someone is on there, you know.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Like they're close to death or you know that they're
close to the lowest of the lowest, or they're in
that deep pit and God just brings them out and
so they're encountering you know, that moment.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
That's their moment.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
And so that's just a way of God just saying
I'm here. I'm here for you no matter what you're
going through. You could be at your lowest, you know,
you could be going through so many things, but but
I'm here for you. And so I just think that
that's just beautiful how you got the chance to experience
God and know Him for who he truly is.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
So yes, beautiful, no shame, no shames, not finding me.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Handsome, victim, nobodying, no money, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I love that love your conscious mind?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Fine me, fine, I call you.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
So you said you went in first was poetry, right,
and then it was a songwriting and so just tell
us a little bit about you know, getting into music.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
How did that start?

Speaker 2 (31:20):
Yeah, tell us about you know, because I know when
I met you back in a few years ago for
Praise Factor.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Sixteen, and I was like, who is this.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
You know singing on stage and this beautiful song called Time,
which I love.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
It is just this beautiful, like groove song. It's kind
of like a Neil It's kind of like a Neil song,
kind of groove feel a little bit. Yeah, love it.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
And so if you could just share with us the
audience of you know, going into poetry, going into songwriting
a little bit like how that transition into a singer songwriter?

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Yes, poetry. Just in college, I was like I said,
I was in vand was in I played, I was
in Theory one, Theory two piano choir, and was invited
to do a talent show. Uh, and I did poetry
and it went over whaled. And then after that I

(32:13):
kind of pursued and met up with people on campus
that pursue music or was majoring in music and different
things like that, and the poetry just evolved. And then
like I met my uncle. His name is Jerry Johnson,
and when I met him, it's like he pushed me

(32:35):
it's the direction that I'm in now. He was want
to write, you know, write a song, you know, and
then so I start writing songs and uh, he would
well before that, before that, there was a a contest

(32:57):
here in Dallas and Gret Prayer and it was a
big contest. And at that time, I have his poetry,
which is a piece card I am that I am.
So there was this big contest. He had rock bands,
met bands, but it was it was Christian for Christian music,

(33:21):
contemporary music. I turned them, you know, Christian music. And
there was so many bands and groups and singers. And
so he inspired me to do my poetry at that event.
And so I went and I did my poetry at
that event. And out of all those people, people travel
from anywhere on one first place. And I want a

(33:47):
deal a record, won a record deal, wow, which you know,
which I didn't. I didn't pursue at the time. Other
things that I was going through half the time, you know,
hearing the Lord say no not yet. You know, so

(34:07):
much development has happened since then. And so my uncle's like, well,
I'll just take you and we will produce songs, and
you know, we'll push you and I'll push you, you know,
and so we just went hard at that and God
began to bless us and travel and that's how I

(34:27):
met I met mister Milton. And then I met mister
Milton who's over the East Texas uh in the district
here of you know, music and artists and different things
like that. I met him and I started doing the
tours with him, and then in Caunter of him, and

(34:49):
that's how I met doctor t uh, Doctorica George. And
when I met her, that's when I found out about
Praise Factor. And I've been you know, flowing with praise
Factor and yeah, yeah, I've been with him, you know,

(35:10):
every since. You know, I'll go every year to and
just continue to grow and evolve, and God just you know,
begins to bless yes, yes.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
And tell us what did you walk away with?

Speaker 4 (35:26):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Last year and two years ago? What did you walk
away with? Because I think you had you had to
so yeah, uh uh.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
I had a year okay, last year, this year, well
last year have mother year and song song of the
song that year and the year and before it was
like song right up right alternative artists, real soul artists

(36:06):
of the year, jazz audist of the Year traditional traditional
artist and you know, uh, just.

Speaker 1 (36:20):
Look at you. Oh my goodness, glory to God. Yes, beautiful, wow, yes,
oh my goodness. So and were you awarded the song
of the Year? Was it four Time? Four Time? It
was the fourth time your song time or time Time?
Okay that's what my thought.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
Okay, yes, song love You on the Move, which is
the name of the album song Time, which was a
song of the Years.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Wow, beautiful.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
So, friends, those who are listening are watching, I want
to encourage you because I'm having to talk a little
bit about Time.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Her single it's called check it Out.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
I love the song.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
It is just a beautiful like a neo song, Phil
And I'm.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Gonna have lease it to share a little bit about
her song Time because I want to know you know,
the story behind it.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
So share with us.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Okay, Time. Just like you said time, time is necessary.
You get so busy that you you don't spend time
with God. The time is necessary. Within the time you
spend with God, you grow when you learn, and you evolved.
So it's just a reminder, you know, when you don't
get too busy, you know, remember to spend time with God. Basically,

(37:39):
remember you know, not to neglect your prayer time, not
to neglect reading your words, and not to neglect the
Holy Spirit, you know, being lated, you want to be
late by the spirit. You know, the Bible says those
that are sons of God, you know, the children of God,
they'll live by his spirit. And so God gave it
that some time, and it just talks about spending more

(38:01):
time with Him, you know, less time with the things
of the world, you know, and less time with God,
the things of God, the Kingdom of God, the Word
of God. More time with Him. And the more time
you spend with Him, the more He revealed to you.
As a part of the sam said, I revealed my
heart to those that love me. You know, if you

(38:24):
love God, you're going to spend time with God. If
you love God, you're going to seek God. So those
that love me, they seek me, they find me, you know,
he said, I revealed my heart to those that love Him,
those that seek me. So in order to seek God,
you gotta do what you gotta spend time with Him.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
To spend time, all right, So go ahead and download
that stream that where you get your music out and
add that to your playlist.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Everyone, yes, So Delisia is.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
Not only she is not only a oh my gosh,
you you you have a list of things, right, so, uh,
a singer, songwriter, a wife, but also an amazing author.
And we're going to talk about that about her book
that just dropped literally like not too long ago, and

(39:20):
I her her book is titled Don't Believe the Lies,
A Journey Overcoming Suicide by Delicia James. And so I
would love for Delicia to talk about this book and.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
The story behind it. And do you want to share
first or do you want me to read an excerpt first?

Speaker 3 (39:41):
You could go first.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
So first, okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
So I was reading, you know, this amazing book, and
so there was one paragraph that that stood out to
me and I wanted I want Delicia to kind of
talk about it.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
And so this is on the page thirty one, and
I'll just read the first paragraph.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
So it says, here sit out to me. It resonated
with me, you know, while I was going through my depression.
So it says, uh, depression can feel like an unwelcome shadow,
creeping and unannounced and attacking when you least expect it.
It manifests through erratic mood swings, moments when joy feels

(40:21):
like a distant memory, and peace of mind become elusive.
Sleep once a natural refuge, turns into a challenge, fluctuating
between bouts of insomnia and overwhelming lethargy. My appetite mirrors
this unpredictability alternative, alternating between extremes, leaving me either ravenous.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
Or disinterested in food. So I would just love for
you to talk about that paragraph.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Okay, Uh with depression, Depression is yeah, first of all,
say it's a lie. Either the was doverly the life.
Depression is you know, it's of the enemy. He wants me,
you know, to not have joy. He wants you to
be moping and sad because he don't have the opportunity

(41:13):
to have that joy, or have the opportunity to feel
that love, or to uh to steal that peace anymore.
So his job is that he comes to still kill
and destroyer. So he's gonna do everything you can to
try to take that from you and give you depression.
Depression is an identity given to you by the enemy. Uh.
So we don't accept that, you know, but it creep in,

(41:37):
it'll creep in in your most You can be happy,
full of joy and then here come the enemy and
come in and just say something. Then it just you know,
change your day or you know that it'll attack your emotions.
You know, depression its having on your emotions. Like you said,
it take your joy away, depression, and it can cause

(41:59):
you not to sleep, you know. Depression, deppression is it's
like like like I said in the book, it can
be draining. Uh. So we're dealing with depression, me dealing
with depression. It it just makes you feel MOPy, and

(42:27):
you know, it makes me not want to be near
anybody and makes me want to be, you know, alone.
And then depression makes you want to be alone. And
here comes the spirit of isolation, you know, uh becomes
the spirit of uh uh my frame with blank and

(42:55):
then you know, pick on the spirit of doubt. Depression
leads to I relation, Depression leads to do you know depression,
it leads to rejection. So it's aboubting with that spirit.
You you have to know that those other spirits are
not far behind. And if that's not far behind the

(43:16):
already you know, then creep in. So you have to
you know, I thought that with the word of God.
So we have to learn how to come against that
with the word of God. You know, he said, put
on you know, you put on your Grandma's a praise,
you know for heaviness, because that's what depression does. It

(43:39):
brings a heaviness about you. So you fight that with
the word of God, and you come against it with
the word of God, you know, and got to give
you the power and the strength. You know, when you
stand on His word, you know, and not lean to
your own understandings. The presson that come in it cause

(43:59):
you to lean to your own understanding, and you can,
you can, you can know the word of God and
you know what to do. But that depression to somehow
just come in here and just overtake everything that the
word's got that you know him just rip it right
after your mind, reap it right out of your rip
it right out of your heart. And then you gotta fight.

(44:20):
You gotta fight to put that word back in there
so that work and stay there, you know, so when
it come in he can hit a rock. You know,
he ain't gonna be able to penetrate. He won't be
able to come in and man, because you know you
stand on the word of God, on the word of God.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Yes, Amen, Yes, beautiful Delicia, So tell us about your book.
Don't believe the lies. Tell us about the title. Tell
us give us like a little overview of your amazing book.

Speaker 3 (44:51):
Okay, don't believe the lies. And she said, you're showing it,
but you yeah, especially exposing the spirit of suicide, exposing
the spirit of suicide and its friends and it's comrades.
It exposes how they come in and how they jump you.

(45:14):
They jump you. Oh yeah, the fight, you know, in
the fight, it all it starts with somebody. They might
have looked at you wrong, or you looked at them wrong.
You know, they might have said some about it and
you heard about it, and then you know they you know,
here come their friends jumping in it, and you know,
but it just you know, it talks about the spirits

(45:37):
and then break down those spirits that you deal with,
like I was saying, you know, rejection, doubt, spear, spirit
of spear, oppression, isolation, rejection, abandonment, all those things come

(45:58):
in being being powerless. You know, it's just exposed the enemy,
the enemy. It exposed to the spirit of the deaf
and dumb spirit really, because that's what the spirit of
suicide is. It's the deaf and dumb spirit, which is
the biblical appropriate uh word. And that's what it's called

(46:22):
the deaf and dumb spirit. And so when it comes
is to make you death to the Word of God.
It makes you, you know, dumb to the Word of God.
It makes you to somebody can be giving you the word,
but that spirit of pride can be right there, and
so you will hear that word. You become death to
that word. You know, if you become dumb to the knowledge,

(46:45):
you know, because when you take on the spirit of God,
he brings wisdom, he brings understanding. But if the enemy
can be in and stop that, then the word will
be of no avail to you because you've been a
turn But they say, you know a deaf ear to it.
You ever heard them say, So you become ignorant to

(47:10):
the Word of God. You know what I mean. So
exposes it exposed that not only do it exposed, but
then it tells you how to overcome, It tells you
how to be through it. And then I also have
prayer points in that you can that you can pray.

Speaker 1 (47:36):
You have no no taking section two. You can take no.

Speaker 3 (47:40):
Section so you can take notes, so you can journal
as you read it can journal journey is a great
tool to use. And then it you fight with prayer
and fasting, and it talks about overcoming coming power. That's

(48:01):
the overcoming power that God gives you to overcome a situation.
He says, I've give you power to overcome you know,
you know, uh. And then there's a scripture for your journey.
So I give you scriptures for your journey as you read,
as you go through, what what you like, you said,

(48:24):
what you sympathize with, or what you understand, what or
whatever you're dealing with. There's a scripture for your journey
to help you. There's confessions, uh, and prayers are healing.
So these these confessions and prayers are healing, are what
God gave me as I was coming free, as I

(48:46):
was dealing, as I was overcoming. And so I put
these in here because I know that there are they
are helpful, and you know, God moves and God shows up.

Speaker 2 (48:58):
Yes, yes, beautiful, beautiful, and that is don't believe the lies.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
A Journey Overcoming Suicide by Delicia James.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
Beautiful Delicia.

Speaker 1 (49:09):
So, Delicia, we.

Speaker 2 (49:10):
We have a few more minutes left and I just
want you to speak to the audience, speak to someone
who might be dealing with, you know, depression, or might
be dealing with suicide, ideation, or dealing with you know,
just trauma that they've gone through. I want you to
speak to that that boy, or that girl, that man,
or that woman so they can get some words of encouragement.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
Hey, man, I would say to you, first of all,
don't believe the lies. You are important. You are valuable.
If anything, You're important to God. That's the most that's
the most thing you can ever carry with you or
have with you versus men or you know, men or

(50:00):
wrong every time. But God wants so I can tell
you now that you are love. You are wanted, you know.
So it doesn't matter what you went through. God is
still there. God hands are still water open for you
no matter what the trauma is or what you're going through.

(50:22):
Or you can have trauma and have triggers, you know,
but God there's words for trauma and there's word for triggers. Amen.
So you know, whatever you're going through, I just decree
and declare that you will overcome it with the overcoming
power of God. He will show you, he will guide you,

(50:46):
he will direct you, he will need you through his
spirits that you will overcome. You know you will survive.
It's just anybody I hear that. Just you know you
will survive. That's not going to take you out. You
will survive, You will live. You will live. You would
not you would live a man, you would be prosperous. Hallelujah,

(51:10):
Glory to God. Uh. You know, just trust God, trust
him and might not always feel good or sound good good,
but trust God. Trust the voice of God. Trust the
leading voice of God, which is just hoish, stupid. He'll
never lead your own. So I lead you to all

(51:33):
truths you know, and you know there's there's no there's
no greater love than His love, God love. That's that's
the only love you need to be you need to
be looking for. You know that that love, that guafe
love that I experienced in my encounter, That same love

(51:55):
is available for you. That same love is available for you.
SA encounter is available for you.

Speaker 5 (52:02):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (52:02):
Is not a perspective of a person. Well he'll do
for one, he'll do for the other man. Believe you
just have to believe. Only believe.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
Amen, Amen, Delicia, All right now, beautiful beautiful words. Yes,
and we thank you for that those beautiful words and
that encouragement, and I pray and I hope that and
I'm sure it's gonna bless someone out there who's listening
or who's watching. So so, Delicia, we just have a
couple more questions, my friend. I just want you to

(52:35):

Delicia.

Speaker 2 (55:48):
Just sharing your story has just been incredibly inspiring today
and encouraging and I pray that those are blessed and
touched to those who see this recording or also listening.
So thank you for sharing, because you know it's not
easy sharing your story. It's not easy being vulnerable. You know,
it's it's hard, and then when you share it sometimes

(56:10):
you're like, oh my gosh, I'm exposed. But then it's
like then you realized that that was healing for me.
But you know, you're also helping so many people. So
I appreciate all the things that you're doing, and just
God continue just to bless you and to use you
for His kingdom. So before we go, I just want
us just to kind of lighten the.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
Mood a little bit.

Speaker 2 (56:28):
Let's just breathe in and breathe out, and we're gonna
just I'm gonna ask you just a couple of questions.
I do this for every show to know you and
just to kind of transitions from you know, sometimes we
talk about some heavy steps to transition into just some
a lighter moment. And so we're gonna talk about it.
We're gonna do a game called either you can call
it this or that? Or would you rather? And I

(56:49):
give two choices and then I ask you which one
is your choice and why?

Speaker 1 (56:56):
And so I kind of was thinking when I was.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
Thinking about you, Delici, I kind of like intentionally think
of questions when I when I'm writing this out. So
the first question, and I was like, I know you.
You you a country girl, So I wanted to know
your choice. Would you rather have lemonade or sweet Teeth lemonade?

Speaker 3 (57:16):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (57:17):
Okay? I thought that was gonna be a little challenging,
but I guess not. So lemonade, okay? Is there is
there a reason? Or you just would prefer.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
I like lemonade and I used to make eliminade with
my grandmother's Okay.

Speaker 2 (57:29):
Yeah, lemonade, Okay, all right, Okay, this one is kind
of fun. So would you rather watch karaoke so see
others sing? Or would you rather be singing karaoke watched Okay, yeah,
it's fun watching huh, it's fun.

Speaker 3 (57:50):
It's so fun. Yeah, we'll go forward.

Speaker 2 (57:54):
Yes, And some people be serious too, and I'd be like, okay,
you know, like they're like, you know, trying to like
I've seen people would warm up, do some vocal warm ups,
and I'm just like, okay, they take it all serious.

Speaker 1 (58:03):
I'm like, oh, go out and sing. But it's so
fun watching people, it is. Yeah, be like yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (58:11):
This next one is like, so when you go to
a restaurant they ask you what your preference. Would you
prefer soup or slid.

Speaker 3 (58:18):
Salad?

Speaker 1 (58:20):
Salad?

Speaker 3 (58:22):
Caesar salad sound good? Yeah? Salad?

Speaker 1 (58:30):
Yes, that sounds good, Caesar salad. Okay, yes, all right.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
And the last one, would you prefer to, let's see,
make a home cooked mill so make a home cooked
meal or would you rather go out to a restaurant
a cook?

Speaker 3 (58:51):
Cook?

Speaker 1 (58:52):
Say that again? Home cook me?

Speaker 3 (58:54):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (58:56):
And what would that be, Delicia?

Speaker 3 (58:58):
What would you cook? I would like some big potato,
make potatoes and broccoli, like baked chicken and like cool
bree and it's good.

Speaker 1 (59:15):
Okay, I love it. Some lemonade love it all right
with some Caesar salad, right, well, love it all right, Delicia. Well,
this was such a blessing.

Speaker 2 (59:36):
I am just so glad that you were able to
come on today and share, and so I just want
to say thank you so much for your time, and
thank you for all the amazing things you're doing. And
I'll be listening out for your single dropping in the

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
