Hands and tidy stuff. Hello and welcome to the show
From Weeping to Warrior Igniting Freedom with Roshaw Nicole, where
we interview amazing people from all over the world sharing
(00:30):
their incredible story of how they overcame obstacles and what
they're currently doing to maintain not only their mental health
but their physical health as well. So, if you know
my story back in twenty twenty one is when I
went to treatment for PTSD depression, addiction and anxiety and
(00:51):
during that time for two months, Yes, it was a
hard decision, but it was one of the best decisions.
During that time, I was just journaling and writing how
I was feeling, not knowing that they were going to
be my music, my singles, and when I left out
of treatment, I was able to share my music through
song as well as talk to organizations and share my
(01:15):
music and share my story to let people know that
there is hope. And so I'm so excited for this
opportunity to have this podcast, to have amazing people to
share their story to let others know that there is
hope and healing on the other side. So, if you
would like to be a guest on future episodes. Please
hit up your girl at info at roshan Nicole Wellness
(01:36):
dot com. We would love to have you on to
share your incredible weeping to Warrior story. We have an
amazing guest today all the way from Illinois, but before
we introduced him, we are going to just share a
little bit of mental health stats today.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
A disclaimer, Anything that I share on.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
This episode or all episodes is things that helped me
to overcome mental health or excuse me to overcome depression
or anxiety. And so I just want to put that
disclaimer out there as well as a trigger warring as well.
We're talking about mental health, so things that we could
be talking about might be triggering for you, and so
I just wanted to let you know that as well.
(02:17):
So let's talk about today. We're going to have a
did you know stat? Today? So I'm going to read
this and I'm gonna give you some homework as well.
So yes, I'm going to give you some homework on today.
Did you know that your gut is your second brain?
So have you heard that statement before? The guts and
(02:38):
brain are closely connected. This connection allows the gut to
influence your mood, your health and other bodily functions, so
it earns its name or its nickname as the second brain.
So with that being said, if you're dealing with chronic stress,
and that can be internal stress what's going on in
your body, or external stress that can disrupt the gut
(03:01):
microbiome that is basically the home and the environment of
your guts, and so that can lead to digestive issues
and also impact mental health. So managing your stress through
relaxation is one way to support your gut health. And
so I'm going to talk about a couple of ways
that you can relax, but I want you to pick
(03:24):
something that not only what I'm talking about, because I'm
only going to give you just a few but i
want you to write down what are some ways that
helps you to relax. So some examples are journaling, walking,
breathing like doing breathing exercises, meditation, prayer, coloring, puzzles or painting, drawing,
(03:50):
or writing. These are some examples. But I want you
your homework for this week is to make a list
of all the things that helps you to relax. Then
I want you to put yourself on the calendar and
start with two days this week. So if you enjoy writing.
Spend ten minutes two days this week and sit down
(04:11):
and do some writing if that helps you to distress.
So pick what works for you and make that commitment
to yourself this week and then the next week add
ten it can be ten.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Minutes, but add three days.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
That will help you to distress. Okay, So whatever resonates
with you, So that is your homework this week. If
you are watching on YouTube or if you're listening in
the comments this is episode six, go ahead and write
what is something that helps you to distress?
Speaker 1 (04:38):
It helps you to relax. I would love to hear
it and.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Reply to your comments. So that's your homework for this week. Alrighty,
so let's read our amazing guests on today. We're going
on the map, so we're in Seattle, but we're gonna
travel all the way to Illinois today and we have
Jamel william and Jamel Williams is a hidden gym in
(05:04):

gives him a unique and distinct sound, thus carving his
vocal signature. He has been nominated for numerous awards in
many different categories. He performs internationally and is a sought

(05:53):
king amazing talented vocals. Minister to the show, Jamel Williams. Hello, Hello, Jamel,
how are you.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
I'm doing well? Thank you for that fire introduction.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yes, yes, yes, well I'm so glad you're on. Welcome
and I'm just excited to talk about your story, talk
about your music, and just super excited.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Yes, yes, I like your microphone. I need that in gray.
That nice, Okay, thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yeah, we got the pink going on here, so thank
you for Jamel. Before we get into your story and
your music, just let everyone I know I kind of
did your bio, read your bio, but let the people
know who you are, where you reside, and what you do.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yes, So my name is Jamel Williams. I reside in
now I'm in Nglesile, Illinois, but I'm originally from Waukegan, Illinois,
which is thirty minutes north of Chicago. I wear a
lot of hats. I do a lot of things. I'm
a minister, I'm a praise and worship leader. I'm also
(07:10):
a deacon, I'm a father, I'm a big brother son.
So I mean you named it. I probably have the
title except bishop and pastor and all of that. Yees.
So that's a little bit. I grew up in the
church church doing whatever I can to serve God.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yes, awesome. Wow. So you have a lot of titles
and we'll talk about that too, like how you balance
and juggle that, you know, being an artist and then
being a father and a minister and all that. So
you wear you wear many hats, and we'll talk a
little bit about that in just a minute. So Jamel,
please tell the audience, you know, we would love to
hear your Weeping to Warrior story and tell the audience
(07:54):
you know a time in your life that you face
an obstacle. What was that time like for you? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Yeah, So I am uh, I'm a former addict. I
used to be addicted to cocaine, so that time was
very dark for me, you know, but it all began
with just you have to be careful when you're going
(08:21):
through things. I was at a tumultuous time in my life.
Arn't working out the way that I would like them to.
It's in a very rocky marriage, and so you know,
I hung around people at that time that weren't good
influences on me, and I was introduced to drugs and
(08:46):
you know, it just kind of spiraled out of control there.
But it was a very dark time in my life.
It was very hard. It was it was depressing. You know,
it's like you're in you're in your problems and you're
(09:06):
in you know, day to day life and you're just
looking for some sort of relief and then you know,
when you get that relief or release, you you're you're
left feeling more miserable than when you you started out
at So that's that's my story.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Wow wow Damell. Yeah, So during this time, you know,
are you going through your divorce and you know, being
a cocaine attic. So what was the time like like
you know how everyone says that they have when a
time where they hit rock bottom.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Tell us about your like rock bottom time before you.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Got out of that before you got out of that
that hole.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Yeah. Sure. So I remember I was getting off work
one day. I used to work with the senior and
elderly population, and you know, they had Alzheimer's, dementia and
other illnesses. And I was getting off work and I
was looking forward to spending time with my family. And
(10:14):
I came to like almost like a fork in the road,
and it was figuratively and it was literally. Uh So
if I went right, uh you know, I would go
ahead and I would re up and and get another bag,
or if I wasn't left with my family. And regretfully,
you know, I turned right, and you know, I was
(10:35):
crying as I was turning right. And that's when I
realized that I had a problem. You know, you you
kind of put things and you put you know, occasions,
uh oh, your your your need for you know, drug dependency,
and that takes presidents over your life. I wanted to stop,
(10:58):
but I just couldn't, you know. So there was like
like like the hooks were kind of like of addiction,
which just kind of sunk into me. And so I
was in trouble, you know, just by the decisions that
I was making you know you drugs over family, over
with people, and uh, you know, just it just became
(11:20):
you know, kind of like a ruler in my life.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yeah yeah. It over overtook you and overtook your life.
Yeah yeah. Wow wow, so dremal. So I know, for me, like,
you know, because my struggle was with sleepy medication and
then drinking at night just to you know, not deal
with trauma because mine was you know, from medical trauma
(11:46):
that I had faced years previous, and so I was
hiding in silence, like I was hiding my pain. I
would go and you know, walk around like everything was fine.
That at night, that was my that was my time
of just like I need to just knock myself out
out so then I don't have to feel it and
relive the trauma that I've had I endured. And so
(12:06):
so so what I'm asking is like how were you
able to just get through your day? Was it more
of just like you seeking your next you know high
and seeking your next you know, person you can reach
out to. So like, how are you able to just
manage throughout your day?
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Well, you know, there's you know, there's people that are
full on addicts, you know, that are in the streets.
And but then there are functional addicts, yep, And so
I was I would consider myself as a functional addict.
You know, I would you know, keep my job and
like just like you you know, I would keep the
smell on my face, you know, just hide like a mask,
(12:45):
hiding the hurt and the pain and the depression you
know that I was going through. And you know, you know,
when I got off, I was just this totally different person,
you know, you know I did. I would I've used
alcohol as well, you know, I would you know, just
(13:06):
go to neighborhoods that weren't really safe. You know, people
that want to say and you know, it's just it's
a it's a risk that you take, and it's a
desperation for sure. Yeah, in order to get you know,
your drugs so that you can get a relief or
to feel normal, I guess relax, you know, way, But
(13:31):
you know, it's just it's it's the the the dependency
to kind of drive.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, so yep, yep, or you're just like I have
to I have to have it, you know. Yeah, it
really overtakes you and it really is overwhelming. And so
now that you have shared your mail for you shared
your weeping moment. We would love to hear you know,
how did you come out of it? Yes, your warrior moment.
(13:58):
How did you come out of it? And did youmail
that you are today? We want to hear about that.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Yes, awesome, Yeah, I just thank God that you know,
that's not how the.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Story ends, absolutely right.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
So one day and I was so tired, you know,
I'd hit rock bottom, you know, thank god I still
had a job. And you know, I say they didn't
love me, but they didn't know what was going on.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yeah, And so one day my sister invited me to
church with her. Okay, and I went to church and
I had both of my kids with me. I took
them church with me, and I was at church and
you know, the service was going on. I sat through
the whole service and at the end, Uh, there was
(14:49):
an alter call. And you know I had been fasting
and praying that week, you know, just God could just
deliver me from this addiction. Yes, there was an alter
call at the church. And I'll never forget this Bishop called,
you know, he just you know, said, anybody that wants
to come to the altar, you can come to the
altar for prayer, right, and you know, something just drew
(15:11):
me to the altar because I'm like, nah, I'm okay.
You know, I'm on this fast, and you know, I
think all right, but it was the way God just
drew me to the altar. And I went to the
altar and I let you know, the bishop pray for me,
and you know, it was like like a refreshing wind
(15:34):
or like kind of like water being poured over your body,
and you know, the addiction broke. And that was ten
years ago. Wow, I've not been the same. You know,
that's what really started me on my trajectory to just
growing in the kingdom.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Right.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
You know, when you have a dependency, you are so stifled.
I mean, that's all that you have in front of you,
it's just that dependency. But once those chains are broken.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
You truly are right absolutely who you are.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
You know, I was an artist, you know, an independent
music artist. I was a minister apprisship leader, but you
know also a businessman. You know, when you spend all
your money on drugs, you know, it's like you can't
really focus on doing business or saving money, let alone.
(16:31):
Once I was able to get delivered and I was
able to be productive and I was able to do
more and not only for myself before society, sure, for
the kingdom, you know, for people and family around me.
I was able to mentor people. Yes, so it was
It was just a wonderful experience. And I mean I
(16:52):
did after that experience, I did seek mental health counseling.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Okay, tell us about that. Yeah, yeah, to hear about.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
That, you know, just everything that I was going through
because I really believe like it's good to be delivered from,
you know, problems and saying and choose, but it's also
a mental health component that goes along with that. Ab
(17:21):
should go hand in hand. You know. Sometimes you have
to work out problems mentally, mentally, learn where you know
your issues came from. Sometimes it's theems through childhood, childhood
trama that you haven't dealt with or realized the suppression
is there, but you act out. I was able to,
(17:44):
you know, get some mental health counseling and learn about me, Yeah,
my triggers and right, you know, the people I need
around me, you know, for me the best version of
myself and how to deal with cope with stress because things,
you know, happen and you can't. You no longer can
(18:04):
go to drugs to to to you know, as a stress.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Reliever, right right, you have to come up.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
With different techniques in different ways to handle and cope
with stress. So but it was it's been so so
good for me about me and learning you know how
I function and you know learning you know my triggers.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Right, Yes, yes, And Jamel you mentioned something that I
think is incredible as you know, mental health counseling for sure,
and so especially you know growing up in the church,
which I've talked about before, and and you being a
black male, you know, there's that stigma with it. And
so I'm just I'm so glad that you spoke on
that where you're just like, no, I need to go
(18:49):
and get some mental health counselings. So you were aware
that you that you needed that. And and I talk
about all the time that there is puzzle pieces like
you know, we have the spiritual, but we also need
to look at like the mental. We need to look
at the whole, the whole body, look at the whole
picture to be a beautiful canvas or a beautiful picture,
and so we can't just focus on just the spiritual. Yes, yes, absolutely,
(19:10):
focus on the spiritual, but we're missing other pieces of
the puzzle to make yourself to be whole. And so
absolutely I think of the mental health counseling and diet
and rest and exercise and doing all those things so
you know, to heal the body, because we have to
go through all of that cleanse our body, you know,
in that way. And so you know, thank you for
(19:31):
talking on that. So yes, have you did you do?
Have you done anything you know in in that realm
of like diet and rest and exercise or anything like that.
Talk about that a little bit if you if you
have so, yes, Okay.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
You know, whenever you you are delivered, you have to replace,
you know, what you would deliver from with something? Yeah,
you know. And for me it was, you know, spending
more time with guys, spending time in the church, you know,
making myself available. But also with that it does come
(20:09):
diet and exercise. So I had a weight loss journey
where I lost a lot one hundred pounds.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Wow, sugar. I stayed away from you know, just carbs.
What I did more whole foods, you know, like strawberries, fruits, vegetables,
you know, foods you know, fish, chicken, beef, you know, eggs,
(20:42):
and moved away from processed foods, you know, and you'll
be amazed at how your diet can just really affect
your mental clarity. You know, it can.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Affect your mood absolutely.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
And then also I started resistance training along with cardio.
Good sometimes that involves you know, lifting weights, so sometimes
with bands. But you know that really there is another
way for you to be mentally clear as well to
(21:15):
and it's your mood. So I just replaced you know,
unhealthy things with healthy things absolutely, and you know it's
your Your soul is like the middle man between the
spirit you know, and your body, the flesh. You have
to there's a process of working like unhealthy thoughts out, yes,
(21:39):
you know, meditating on you know who God says that
you are, believing that you know and just sometimes you
have to, you know, just tell yourself you know, I am,
you know, a royal priesthood, I am the righteousness of God.
And you have to tell yourself healthy stories and healthy
narratives to help you get through the day.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Mm hmmm, Yes, that's wonderful. Absolutely, you got to speak
to yourself and get rid of those ants, those automatic
negative thoughts that you know wants to come and invade
our our our head. And so yes, and you spoke
on the holistic approach, which is amazing because I'm sure
after you know, going through that time of detoxing, you know,
(22:22):
the cocaine and just like for me the alcohol of
the system, our body is starving for nutrients and so
you know doing like you said, the whole foods and
that's amazing. Congratulations on your sobriety and your weight loss journey.
That's awesome. So yes, and thank you for being vulnerable
and you know, sharing your story on today, because I
(22:42):
know it's not easy for me. I was scared to
share my story and so I know it could be
fearful at first, you know, or anytime sometimes it could
be super fearful. But I know that it's not just
healing for just me as I share it, but also
healing for so many people that you know is going
through something so or something different from what I'm going through,
(23:02):
what you're going through. So yes, yes, absolutely, yeah, So
we're gonna shift gears just a little bit. We want
to talk about your amazing music friends. If you have
not checked out Jamel Williams Music he's gonna talk about
a couple of his songs. I know he has No
Greater Love, which is an amazing single. My favorite, Jamel
(23:24):
is it Feels Good.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
I was like, I love that, it feels good. I'm like, yes,
so that's one.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Of my favorites from you. But talk to the people
a little bit about your song No Greater Love, y'all.
I met him season sixteen of Praise Factor, Jamel Williams,
and he's just such an amazing anointed, you know, a
man of God and worship and just amazing and just
you know, to get to know who he was during
(23:51):
that time, and I know he won some awards, and
so talk to us about No Greater Love and maybe
a little bit about you know, Praise Factor sixteen when
I met you about it almost two years ago, though, yeah, yeah, almost.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
It's amazing. Time flies, I know, yeah, I mean you
you just blew me away. I'm like, I didn't expect
all that from you. You know what I'm saying. But
you have an amazing voice, you have amazing lyrics.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Oh thank you.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
I love your music. I'm a fan of yours as well.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Oh gosh, thank you.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Yeah, I in twenty twenty, you know, everybody's sitting at home,
you know, pandemic, and you know, I just had more
time on my hand. And you know, you know, the
pandemic was good for me because it when you're creative
(25:27):
and you have time, you know, you can really come
up with some really good things and really good ideas.
And so, you know, just being on social media and
staying connected with people, you know, I just wanted to
find a way to encourage everyone. And so that birth
the song. It feels good. You know, I've always been
a fan of hip hop and R and B, right,
(25:51):
you know, so that vibe. You know, I just kind
of wanted to stay true to who I was, and
you know, that's kind of how it Feels Good came about.
You know. I just wrote some some lyrics to one
of my favorite songs, and I talked to a producer
and I was like, hey, you know, this is what
(26:11):
I'm looking for, and I want to say within the
matter of I hung up with him that night, and
then in the afternoon he came up. He was like,
listen to this, and I'm like, oh, yeah, that's that work, right, yeah,
and we recorded. You know, it feels good, and you
(26:32):
know the rest is history, you know, it's extreaming platforms.
Then no greater love. I just wanted to talk about
the love of Christ. Yeah, anybody, I mean, think about this.
Someone sees you that you're in trouble. You see that
(26:55):
you you have no way of saving yourself, right, you know,
they come and they let you and they say, you know, hey,
I'll help this person out. You know, I'll die for you,
you know, and I'll die for you so that you
can have a better life. The best life is connection
to God, you know, because He leads us, he guides us,
(27:18):
he comforts us, you know, he tells us, you know
who we really are, and you know we just we
we spend all of our lives, you know, lost, you know,
but then when we're able to reconcile with God, you know,
just get life and a new purpose. And that's What's
did for us. He just he kind of just filled
(27:42):
in the gap so that we were able to have
a connection with God. And that was through the shadblood
of Jesus Christ. There's no greater love than that gave
his only begotten son so that we right to life
and life more abundantly. And I just wanted to express
(28:02):
that in the song. That's how much God loves you. Right,
that's valuable you are. I think a lot of people
don't realize the value that they hold because you know,
they treat themselves as common. Right, You're literally a walking miracle.
There's no one like you are, fearfully in wonderful. Yes,
yes you God, you know, broke the mold when he
(28:26):
made you, you.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Know, so beautiful. Yes, now did that song? Because I
see that you were awarded for Rhythm and Praise Solo
Arts of the Year. Was that Was that just the
last season or was that season sixteen?
Speaker 3 (28:42):
With respect sixteen?
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Okay, season sixteen, okay, okay, yes, yes, so tell us
a little bit about that. Yeah, your award Rhythm and
Praise Solo Artist of the Year.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
So you know, I have the awesome opportunity to be
a part of Praise Fact to season sixteen. Yeah, and
it was just so you know, career altering. You know,
your eyes are open. You know, you become better at
your craft, you make connections. You know, thank God for
(29:17):
the connection I had with you and various other people,
Carrie Frasier and Lean and you know Past the Tea
and Swanda Black. Yeah, it's just been amazing in each
one of them. They they bring something unique to the
(29:38):
table and to glean from what they're doing, and it
just makes you better. You know, it takes your your
craft to a whole another level. Right in the exposure
that you get, the classes that you take advantage of.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
That's my favorite. That's my favorite. Yes, I'm a nerd,
a little nerdy me too, right.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Uh, you know, it's just an awesome experience for me
just to make a connection. And then you know they
they the the Rejoice Tour that they did last year.
I was just awesome. I was able to be a
part of a few stops, okay, but an awesome experience,
(30:22):
you know, anytime that you're able to, you know, express
what God did through you through song and give it
to the people. See how people are you know if
just for that moment they can for what they're going
through and get on God. You know, it's just a
it's an awesome privilege.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Yeah, great experience, you know, and me wonderful people and
talented people like yourself, and like you said, building those connections.
And my favorite is always the classes because as we know,
as independent artists, you know, we're doing everything right. We're
promoting ourselves, we're doing this, doing that. So just having
that business, you know, they frame it around you know,
as an independent artist, all the things you have to
(31:05):
make sure you have an order you know, to be successful.
So I do appreciate that. So yes, awesome, Yes, all
right your mouth. So I have a few more questions
for you. So my question for you is how do
you stay mentally and physically you know, healthy navigating being
an independent artist, a bother, a minister, a deacon, I mean,
(31:26):
and the list goes on, right, So like, how do
you juggle everything while keeping maintaining your mental health and
your physical health?
Speaker 3 (31:35):
I use simple word okay, And you know I assess
how I'm feeling. I assess what, I assess what I
have to do. And that is the word new.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
I love it. I love it, yes, yes, you know
with it.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Yeah, but you know, when you when you have priorities
in your life, you know, first comes God, family, you know,
and and friends. I'm there for that, you know. I
had to learn that your first ministry is at home,
(32:16):
it's with you. I have two sons. They are active
that one of woe in wrestling flag, you know. The
list goes on band choir, you know, and I'm their dad.
I want to be a good dad. I want to
be there for them. So if they have something going
(32:37):
on and somebody asked me to do something, answers politely no,
you know, another time yes, yes and so and then
you know, with with God and my family, I write
it in ink, and with everything else, I just write
in pencil, you know. And that's that's how that's how
(33:00):
it has to be. You know, when when you know
God put when God puts a lot in you, you
you're asked to.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Do a lot of things right right, yes.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Well you can't do everything, so it has to be
no for some sometimes for some people.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
MM hmm, love it. So the word is no. So
that's that's boundaries. You can't say yes to everything. You know, Yeah,
I love it, I love it, I love it. But
thank you for your yes on today. So ye.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
All right, So we're gonna close up. I want you
to share with the audience.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
First of all, what advice would you give to someone
who's listening and maybe dealing with addiction or depression. What
advice would you give to them?
Speaker 3 (33:49):
My advice is to ask for help. Yes, it's a
humbling You have to humble yourself. Yeah, yes, you have
to realize that you know, and you know one of
the things I used to say to myself is that
you know, just you know next month, that next week,
I'm gonna quit. You know, I'm gonna you know, And
(34:10):
I thought I could handle it, but I had to
get help, humble myself and say, you know, if I
if I was going to quit, I would have done
it by now, you know, just to come to the realization.
But you know, be careful with the help that you get,
because everybody, you know, sad to say, everybody doesn't want
(34:32):
to help. Some people just want to talk about it.
Be discerning with the help that you get, whether that
be a professional you know, whether that be someone as spiritual,
but get help and come up with a plan, you know,
to maintain your sobriety. But you know that's you know,
(34:53):
down the road. But asking for help with the right
people and the right place just make your life so better.
You're you're you're doing yourself a disservice and you're suffering
needlessly because you refuse to ask for help. For help.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Yes, yes, love it. Ask for help and make sure
it's the right people who you're sharing your information too.
So yes, love that. Love that. So Jamel, any shout
outs and also what is next for you?
Speaker 3 (35:30):
I would like to shout out past the Tea and
the whole race factor. Yeah at the cool you know,
you guys are doing amazing things. I appreciate you. I've
grown so much from that platform. I want to give
(35:50):
a shout out to my producer to Zone from Hitlanders.
Oh wow, Yeah, he works great with people, He's been
doing it for a long time and he's made some
great hits. Wow, let's see here. I would also like
to shout out my Matt, Mariah Christiansen and family. And
(36:17):
right now I'm in the process I'm in the lab. Okay,
yet I don't. I don't like giving dates. Uh, we'll
just say coming.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Soon, coming soon, okay, Yes.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Some of music. Let's see here. Also on my website,
Jamel Williams music dot com. You know I still have
merch no graded love sweatshirts, ats T shirts. Go ahead,
and you know, grab you a no graded love t
shirt just to express you know, you know, your beliefs
(36:58):
in your your convictions, you know, and conversation piece. You know,
if somebody ask you know what is that all about?
Speaker 2 (37:05):
So mm hmmm mm hmmm, yes, very I was gonna say,
let's talk about your merch, but you did, so, yes,
he has. I checked out his merchant. I was actually
trying to purchase one before our uh interview today, but
it wouldn't come in time, so I was gonna wear
it and everything. But you know, it's okay next time.
So I'm still supportant. I'm still supporting, so yes, absolutely, absolutely,
(37:30):
all right, your mail, so I have We're I have
just a couple questions for you. We're gonna end it
with a couple questions. It's a would you rather, and
I'll give you two choices, and you're gonna choose which
one and why? Okay? So are you ready for it? Okay,
all right, all right, this one might be a little hard.
(37:52):
What is your choice? Concerts or musicals?
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Oh? Concerts? Concerts? Yeah, you know, musicals confuse me sometimes,
you know, it's okay, I'll tell you what like? Okay,
So I have an issue with the transitions in the musicals,
you know, Okay, are we singing? Just pick one, just
stay with it.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
No combination there, just just do one.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
If we're singing, let's just sing, you know. But you know,
it could be anything, you know, like I want ice cream,
I want ice cream, I want it is? It's just confusing, constant.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Okay, concerts, all right?
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
I thought you was gonna pick maybe musicals because I
saw that you played in Aladdin and a couple. Okay, okay,
you did, Okay, So all right that that's fine. That's
that's it. That's your choice, Okay, beach or the mountains.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
Uh, I'm gonna say beach beach. And the reason why
I say beach is because it's like five degrees outside
right now, y'all associated with warm weather. So I really
do that right now.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
I deep that in my life yeah, yeah, beach. I'm
a beach. Yeah, I prefer the beach as well. Yep,
I'm on the sand with the sun. We don't get that,
you know, we don't get the sun much here in Seattle.
But when the stund is out, I'm trying to make
my way outside to the beach. So yep, yep. Last one.
What's your preference here? Christmas or Thanksgiving?
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Oh? Christmas all the way? Okay, yes, like jingle bells, Okay.
I love Christmas. I love what Christmas is all about,
you know, just uh, you know it's it's about Jesus.
I mean we you know, we we make it into
(39:47):
something as a society, something that's superficial. That how today
is one of the great ones. And then you know,
getting together with family, you know, we have a service,
you know that we do. You know, we pray, we
read scriptures, we testify. Uh, it's just a great time.
(40:08):
We've always done it as a family. And now you know,
not to mention, you know, I'm gonna be a little
superficial to food. You know, I come from a family
for sure, absolutely no. And you know, if you can't cook,
if you just bring some paper plates, because you bring
some they don't talk about.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
You, right, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah, it can't be too light, you know, light looking.
You know, you get to be right. So let's talk
about this.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Oh my gosh. Okay, so Christmas, Christmas it is for you. Okay.
Oh you're so funny. I love it. Okay, dramaw Well,
that is that is our We're going to close out
any last minute words you want to say before we
say goodbye.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
I just want to encourage someone out there who may
be struggling. Yeah, I just want to let you know.
The weeping do us for night, but joy comes in
the morning. But also there is things that things that
we need to do. Faith without works is dead. If
you have faith for something, you need to put boots
(41:17):
to the ground. You need to put your hand to
the plow, and you need to make that happen. You know,
an anytime you have something that with me, God deals
with me. Where there's an idea that just won't give
me rest and I have to get it out. It's
important that we get all of our ideas out, our
(41:41):
ideas out, because you know, we only have a limited
amount of time on this earth. You have to be
about our father's business. That's all all.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Right, all right. For Damel, I just want to say
thank you so much for coming on the show today,
for sharing your incredible story and for beingvulnerable because it
takes it takes a lot to share our story, and
so thank you so much. And you are a true
testimony and a warrior for sure, a warrior. You went
(42:11):
from weeping to warrior and everything that you're doing, you're
giving glory to God and keep on keeping all so
I just want to encourage you on today. Thank you

can check out his amazing music available on all streaming platforms.
Correct and go ahead and check out yep, go ahead

Speaker 2 (42:36):

Speaker 3 (42:38):
