If you know my story back in twenty twenty one
is when I was in treatment for two months due
to medical trauma. So I suffered with PTSD, depression, anxiety,
(00:54):
and addiction and that was the best decision of my
life but also one of the various decisions of my life.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
During that time, when I was in treatment for two months.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
I was basically just writing how I was feeling, not
knowing that it was actually going to be a music.
And so after I left treatment, I shared my story
through song. I also shared my story to schools and
churches and organizations, and now I have this podcast for
others to share their Weep into Warriors story. It is
time for us to shed light, to break the stigma,
(01:27):
and to let others know that there is hope on
the other side, So.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Please join me on this venture that I'm on.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
All right, friends, So before we bring out our amazing guest,
a couple of things that I want to just talk about.
As always on all episodes, I always have a disclaimer.
I am not a medical professional, so anything that I discuss,
it is basically what has helped me to heal from
depression and anxiety.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
And also my guests will also share.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Their experience, their personal experience healing from men health, so
I just wanted.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
To throw that out there.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I also wanted to share a trigger warning things that
we discussed on this show. We're talking about mental health
and so it could be something that could be triggering
to you, so I also want to share that as well.
All right, So every episode, you know, I'm having some
type of mental health fact or mental health tip or strategy.
But I actually today I want to do a check in.
(02:24):
So I want to check in and.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
See how you're doing.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Because a few episodes back and I wrote it down
here so I didn't forget.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So episodes six and seven, I.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Gave you a little bit of homework, and I gave
you some homework and I'm going to review them, and
I just want you to check in with yourself to
see how you're doing. So my first question for you
is did you have the opportunity to write down a
list of things that helps.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
You to destress?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Episode six, we talked a little bit about writing down
those things, whether if that is spending ten minutes a
day to walk around the block, ten minutes of exercising, journaling, reading,
spending time if you have fur babies, spending time with
your family or friends, doing something intentional and writing it
(03:10):
down on the calendar, starting with a couple times a
week and working your way up from there.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
So I want to check in with you. How are
you doing?
Speaker 2 (03:19):
If you're watching, you can go ahead and write in
the comments what you're doing. Did you make that commitment
to yourself to put yourself on the calendar every week,
starting with at least three days a week, ten minutes
a day, and working your way up from there. Okay,
so how are you doing with that? I want to
hear from you.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
The second thing is.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Your homework was to go and schedule a time with
your doctor and to get a chemistry panel or a
metabolic profile for them to draw some blood and that
will look at the measurements of your electric life balance,
your organ functions, your overall health.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I told the story a little.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Bit about when I was struggling with depression and anxiety.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
I was going through treatment and I was doing.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
The counseloring and everything, but I still was trying to
fgure out what was going on. And so when they
took my blood, come to find out I was low
in so many things.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
And so if you're low and.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
You know, like I was going to be twelve an
iron magnesium, that was a contributing factor of while I
was why I was feeling fatigue, lethargic, anxious.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
So I'm checking it with you on today too. If
you've done that. If not, no judgment, it's all good.
You got time. Go ahead and call your doctor and
schedule breate.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
This down a chemistry panel or a metabolic profile for
them to draw some blood and to see how you're
doing and look at your levels. All right, let me
know how you're doing on that area. Okay, So all right,
I just took my little teacher hat off there. I
didn't want to get on you, but I want to
make sure you're taking care of yourself. So We're going
to introduce you to.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
This amazing guest.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
And before I read his bio and bring him out,
I met him last year at the Goffel Choice Music
Awards back in June of last year, and just a talented, talented,
amazing artist. He's going to share his amazing story on
today on how he's also helping people in their journey
and I just cannot wait for him to share his
music as well.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
And so let's just read his bio. We're going to
go all the way on the map too.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Where we go, We go on to New Jersey, all
the way to New Jersey, all right, from Seattle to
New Jersey.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Let's read his bio here. So we have here.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Born on July seventeenth, nineteen eighty two and from the
unforgiving streets of Jersey City, New Jersey. As a problematic adolescent,
he from Kings was in and out of youth programs,
youth detention centers, and involved in criminal activities that would
later land him in state prison after serving three years
(05:54):
for robbery. He struggled to find his true identity with society.
Overcoming these challenges, he from Kings now holds two bachelors degrees,
from a Liberty University, one in Religion, Biblical and Theology
Biblical studies, and the other in religion Apologetics.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I can not wait to hear about that as well.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Currently a Master's of Arts in Theology Studies and a
student at the Liberty University, he also holds a Acsi
Educators certification as a Bible Specialist. Let's welcome this Warrior
King to the show, bought.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Out my friend. Hello, Hello, welcome.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
I'm so glad you can make it and for you
to take the time out to share your story, share
your music, share all the wonderful things that you're doing
and so so I'm super excited.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
So before we have you to dive.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Deep into your story, let the audience know a little
bit about you, who you are, where you reside, just
a little bit of who you are.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
So I'm me from as you know, I'm from New Jersey,
Jersey City, New Jersey.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Right now, I'm addiction counselor at the Salvation Army at
the Adult Rehabilitation Center.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I'm a husband, I'm a.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Father's seven beautiful children, and my passion is music writing
music for the Lord.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yes, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
And I was just sharing before you came on out
that we met last year, but we met on social media, right,
But we met last year at the Gospel Choice Music Awards,
and I want you to share a little bit about
your experience with that and the award that you want
during that time.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Right.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
So that was my first time being nominated for an award,
and it was a beautiful experience. I had traveled the
year before that to Texas and but I wasn't nominated
for an award there.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
But I was able to get an experience of what
it was like.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
So I came to Atlanta. Atlanta was a beautiful experience.
I met a lot of people over there, and you know,
it's just good to be able to fellowship with, you know,
God's people and be able to receive at the same time,
you know, a word from God. So it was definitely awesome.
(08:41):
It was suspenseful, you know, having you know, waiting to
see if you're going to win the award. So it
definitely was a great experience for me. And you know,
I look forward to see what God has, you know, planned.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
For my life.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Absolutely, and we'll talk about because I think the single
that we're gonna talk about you performed that last year.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Is that correct? Did you perform being for the Lord?
Speaker 3 (09:10):
I think I did. I did flawed and I did
keep praising God.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Okay, okay, yeah, okay, I thought you did that well
because I because I remember when you were performing and
I was all getting.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
With you all.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
I was like, yes, yes, yeah, you got some amazing music.
And so I can't wait for us to talk about
that in just a moment. But before we do, I
would love for you to share, you know, you're weep
into warrior story.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
You know, let the people know, you.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Know, a time that you faced a major obstacle in
your life, and we'll talk about that and then we'll
talk a little bit about the warrior moment.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Right.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
So, you know, my my biggest challenge was, you know,
during my incarceration. During that time is when I lost
my grandmother. So my grandmother, you know, she had a
big part of raising me. So when I was in prison,
(10:13):
I was notified that she had passed away.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
So that definitely, you know, taught me to pieces. I
was really emotionally broken down, mentally broken down.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Spiritually, I didn't I didn't have a connection with God
at that time, so I had to deal with that
challenge basically on my own. And then, you know, coming
out of prison, my father died in prison, you know,
and I really didn't have a relationship with my father.
(10:47):
I seen maybe about like maybe like five times in
my lifetime.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
He was always in and out of jail.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
So these were definitely struggles that I had to deal
with and overcome, right, just carrying those baggages, you know,
carrying my emotions on my sleeves, you know, it was
definitely a challenge.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yes, absolutely, So you were just sharing that you were
in prison and then you lost you know, your grandmother
who raised you and so, and I know how that
is because you know.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
My grandmother was super close. I was close to.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Both of my grandparents. Grandmother's actually very close. They were
actually best friends. So I know just how that could
be very traumatic, you know, during that time of losing
someone who helped to raise you. So, so tell us now,
so you lost your your grandmother and also your your
father during those dark times, how how were you able
to just cope with life and get by right?
Speaker 3 (11:48):
So I just I basically just just lived with it.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Okay, and I allowed it to, you know, hold me
down and keep me emotionally imprisoned. It wasn't until you know,
I started building, rebuilding my relationship with God, is.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
That I was able to begin to let go of
those things.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
You know. I remember that when I went to my
father's funeral. You know, I really didn't think it was
going to affect me. But once I was there and
then I seen, you know, my father there passed away
in the casket, I was like, you know, the only
little chance that I had of ever building a relationship
with my father's gone, you know, So I definitely was
(12:37):
emotionally broken about that. But like I said, it wasn't
until I came to God and I came you know,
to his word, into his understanding where I had to
realize that I had to let go a lot of
the things, a lot of the emotions that I was
still holding on.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
With me because a lot of that emotion.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
You know, was making me, oh so, you know, miserable,
and you know, I was feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, hurt. So
I definitely had to learn how to get rid of
all that emotional hurd and emotional baggage that I was
carrying with me from my past hurt. Mm hmm, yeah,
(13:21):
God is definitely you know the answer, you know, my my,
my healing source that has gotten me through these difficult
times and these challenges in life.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Yes, all right, yes, so you talks about your your
weeping moment, so I would love to hear about you know, how.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Did you go to your warrior moment?
Speaker 2 (13:45):
What helped you to get out of that and to
to you know, celebrate your your your warrior moments.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Right.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
So you know, I just basically got tired of of,
you know, being down, got tired of allowing you know,
the enemy to come into my life and distract me
and pull me away from God's purpose, you know, me
wanting to better myself, you know. So you know I
(14:17):
did begin the process when I was in jail because
instead of me focusing on other things while I was
in prison there, I got my GED. So you know,
I never completed high school. I got my GED and
that was what I needed in order for me to
continue my education. So you know, I was beginning that
(14:40):
process there a little by little. So you know, God
is just great, man, I tell you that God, if
you allow God to work in your life, man, you know,
he will definitely changed things and make difference, make a
difference in your life. You know, you got to have
(15:01):
that desire and that will to you know, to want
to change. And that's you know, that's when I hit
my rock bottom. I was down, I was out, I
was you know, drinking. You know, I had my children,
my family around I said.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
I don't want to do this. I don't want to do.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
This around them. I want to be a better person.
So yeah, you know I decided to stand up. I
had to fight. I had to fight for my life,
you know, fight spiritually against you know, against the enemy
and what he was trying to you know, bring into
my life.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Yes, yeah, and it's not easy. It's not easy to
say I need help, right, It's hard. Yeah, we can
hit that rock bottom, but it's still it's scary, you know,
that stigma and that judgment that you could get from people.
And so tell us about that, Like, when you hit
that rock bottom, how are you feeling? Were you feeling like,
oh man, people are going to judge me, you know,
(15:56):
how are you feeling during that time?
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Right?
Speaker 4 (16:00):
So, during during that time of rock bottom, you know,
I really, to be honest, I really didn't care about
what people, you know, people thought about me, you know,
I was.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
I was caught up in the in the lifestyle. I
was caught up in the drinking. You know. My concern
was just you know, getting money to drink and do
you know, drunk all day or whatever.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
So you know, people's opinion really didn't matter. There was
just really much, you know, and God working in me
because you know, I can't say it was just me,
but you know, eventually God somehow got it, you know,
hold up my heart and my mind and said, you know,
(16:49):
it's enough, is enough. You know, I got a purpose
for you. I have a plan for you. Right stop
delaying the process. Delayed it long enough. I called you
long time ago. It's time to get back, get back
on track and do what you need to do.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah, all right, okay, that's awesome. That's so it was.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
It was more of just like God was like, it's time,
it's time, you know. So that was enough to be
like okay, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Let's go. You know, yes, amen, amen.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
God. God definitely knows how to get our attention, Oh
for sure.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
You know, It's been a couple of times where I'd
deviated from from God's path, and he will send a
storm to get your attention. And that's when you have
I just surrendered him render.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Yep, you got to give it.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Say hey lord, you know I'll focus and put my
eyes back on you and get back on a planning.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
On a mission.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Man, all right, well we're gonna talk.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
We're gonna talk about your music now because we want
to know when the music, you know, came in. So
like during that time when you were, you know, in prison,
were you writing music or when did music for you?
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Yeah? I did write while I was in prison, but
it was to a minimum and it.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Was secular music, so I wrote prior to this, I
used to write secular music. That's how I began, uh,
writing music. I always had an inspiration from music and poetry.
That's how I actually started. I started with my language arts.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Teacher, language art teacher, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Writing poems, and then from there, you know, it just
became into raps. And I started with turntables and I
was the DJ, and my friends used to come over
and they used to come and rap. And then one
day I said, Nah, they're not gonna come up in
my house and just be rapping.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
I'm about and I'm gonna have something for them next
time they come.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
So and then from there I just started, you know,
creating music on and off secular gospel music. This has
been the most I've been committed to God as far
as with the music, with the education. Education plays a
big part of keeping me focused in God's word, right right, So,
(19:19):
but yeah, music always been.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
A passion for me.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yeah, and outlet, I'm sure, And I want to care
about you know, your single which I love, I love it.
I was just like, yes, I love the song, and
I want you to tell tell the audience the inspiration
behind your single, Thing for the Lord.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Tell us a little bit about that, right.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
So it was based off roman Is one sixteen. I'm
not a shame of the gospel and you know it.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
It's like.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
I want to I want to reach the people in
the streets. I just don't want to primarily keep my
message inside.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
The church, right.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I want to be able to just go outside of
the church and have people relate to the music. That's
why sometimes my music can be a bit blunt, but
I always try to keep the focus and the censure
on on on God and make sure you know, it
doesn't drift away from God's message. You know, I have
(20:23):
several people that told me they you know, they can
definitely relate to that, you know, to the song because
it gives them a different perspective where they're used to,
you know, being involved in gangs and stuff like that,
and I'm talking about banging for the Lord. So they're like, wow,
you know, I never looked at it like that, you know,
(20:44):
and you know, I'll be worried.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
For God and this, so definitely, you know.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
I'm definitely grateful that God is using the music to,
you know, to reach people out in the streets.
Speaker 5 (20:56):

Speaker 1 (21:29):
You want.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Rock for the Kingdom twice for forgiveness.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
You can see any death, don't listen.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
If you can keep the world.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
You want ges Yes, telling your story and encouraging others
through your music. And so you're not only you know,
an amazing artist, but you're also a counselor. So you're
helping other people now, and so I would love for
you to share about what you're doing at the counselor
and tell us about that.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Right So, after you know, going to school and after
I got my degree, it was very difficult to find
a job you know, preaching the word God or anything
that you know, dealt with just God.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Period. So I was praying. I said, God, man, what
I'm going to do now?
Speaker 4 (22:23):
You know, I spent you know, about four years studying,
studying your word. It's just you know, I mean, it's
good for me to have, you know, period because I
can you know, exercise my gift in teaching the church
and all that. But I said, God, I'm making I'm
(22:44):
you know, focusing and making you the center as choosing
your work as a career, you.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
Know, like what I'm gonna do. And then thank God,
he opened up.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
The door for the job as a counselor at the
Salvation Army. I didn't know too much about the Salvation Army.
All I thought was that it was a first store
that they sold clothes and stuff like that. So when
I went there, they said, nowhere an adult rehabilitation center,
(23:16):
and you know, this is what we do. And you know,
the proceeds from the donations go to maintaining the building
and making recovery free for the individuals here. So you know,
automatically I was on board with the mission. You know,
it was a rigorous process, and I almost got discouraged
(23:39):
because they kept.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
On calling me back and calling me back for interviews
and interviews.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
I was about to be like, you know what, my
my inner self wanted to just give up and say,
you know what, I'm gonna go look for another job.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Just went through and then you know, I got the
call back and they say, you know, we're going to
hire you.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
And so, you know, it's just it's just great being
able to exercise everything that I learned. You know, it's
like seminary for me that I'm online in seminary, so
it's like I'm online studying, but when I go to work,
it's like hands on that I'm.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Dealing with these individuals and I'm able to counsel.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
Them biblically with the Bible without you know, having any anybody,
you know, come down on me as far as counseling on.
So it's definitely good to see how these people, you know,
they come into the center broken, you know her emotionally, mentally,
(24:42):
a lot of them physically broken from your meats and
you know, just watching God working their lives, you know,
and restoring them and then going back out and restoring
relationships that were that were broken and you know, finding jobs.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
So it's definitely a blessing to contribute.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
To be part of that it and guide them into
you know, getting better and being a better version that
they can be for their family.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
So it's definitely a blessing.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
Also is mentally draining for me because I have to
sit there and listen to you know, MOBE twenty five
thirty people's problems, and then I have to bring these
problems with me and I have to try to you know,
you know, kind of take those problems and put them
(25:36):
to the side, right, So it's definitely challenging. Over the time,
I guess it becomes a little bit more easier. You know,
you can just kind of leave it at the job
or you know, first coming into the field, you know,
(25:56):
hearing these stories of these people and the things that
they're going who.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
You know it was it was kind of difficult.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Wow. So this is when I have to trust God
the most, you know, rely on his word and just say,
you know, God, give me strength because it's definitely draining mentally,
emotionally is draining pouring out into these people. I have
people who come into the center to come for a
day two and I'm praying for them, and then when
(26:24):
I come back, you know, over the weekend, they're gone.
You know, so you know it hurts me effected by
it because the person's condition. I know that ye're back
out there in the street. Well, it's definitely challenging, but
like I said, man, you know, just relying on God.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Yes, Wow, what what a testimony? What a testimony?
Speaker 2 (26:50):
How you're just how you're helping people, not only with
your music, but with counseling people, pouring into them, praying
for them, speaking life into them. That's that's truly a
blessing and amazing and it's truly just you know, you're
a testament of just how God can just take someone
and just say, you know, your your test is going
to become your testimony. And so I want you to
(27:11):
share because you talked about how it can be mentally
and emotionally draining, you know, hearing people's problems, you know,
day after day, hearing their problems and taking that in
and then you have to go home and you know,
be in your husband and your father and your other
duties in life.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Right, So tell the audience, how do you take care
of you?
Speaker 2 (27:30):
What are some maybe some strategies or some natural things
that you do to take care of your mental health
and your physical health.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Share that with the audience.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Right. So, usually is meditation, Okay.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
I try to meditate as much as possible, and a
lot of my meditation goes on at work because once
I leave from work, I come home.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
I have children who are busy, very very busy. You know.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
This is where I actually spend most of my time.
This is my front room, so my kids will be
you know, running around here and going over there. So
it's kind of difficult for me to get that quiet time.
So as you know, the distress in my office, I
just sit there.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
You know.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
I meditate meditations definitely key.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
I try to find a verse, a verse that I
can meditate on throughout the day and use God's world
to renew me and to refresh me. You know, Also,
my wife helps me out at times. You know that
school can be stressful for me, so you know, being
able to have somebody there to help me distress is
(28:48):
always you know, it's always good to have other people
there to help you out and know what you're going through.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
So, you know, those are the two strategies there, and
that definitely helps me. And I'm pretty sure there's more
stuff there.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Okay, Yeah, that's awesome. So yeah, those are great strategies
for the audience to hear. To definitely have a loved
one or loved ones that you can surround yourself with
and you know, talk about some things maybe that you've
been dealing with that work. I know, sometimes people are like,
I don't bring work at home, you know, but sometimes
people meet that person to talk to you to kind
(29:27):
of just be like, Okay, this is what's what's going on.
So I heard you saying talking to your wife and
just meditating and reading scriptures just to help you to
de stress.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
So awesome.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Yeah, So what advice would you give to the audience today,
You know, who might be dealing with depression or addiction
and they may not be in you know, physical you know, prison,
but when you're going through some dark times in your
life that can feel like prison, right, It can feel lonely,
and it can feel despair, and you can feel like
(30:00):
there is just no out to this. And so I
want you to speak to the audience on today who
might be going through give them some words of encouragement
and some hope one today.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Right.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
So I had just got back to work this week Monday,
and when I came back to work, I seen everybody.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
I seen my guys just walking down with their head down,
and you know, I.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Felt the need to give them, you know, a word
that I usually give them on Tuesday's for Bible study.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
About encouragement.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
So I was led by the spirit to go to
Matthew's eleven twenty eight.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden,
and I would give you west.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
So, like I said, is what I've been saying from
the beginning of the show, is that you know, you
have to be able to give it all to God.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
You have to be able to let it go and
let God take care of that baggage.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
Let Him take care of all that emotion and stress,
all that hurt, all the mental.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Challenges that you are fencing.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
You have to give it to God. You know, we
can't serve God. We can't build out a relationship with
God with all these things holding us down, because then
we will not be able to be you know, better people.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
And this is what we want to do. It even
if we progress somewhat from what we were yesterday and
we're working on something. So that's my goal.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
I want to be better than what I was, you know,
even a few hours ago, you know, a few days ago.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Then I know I'm showing progress. So you know, you
have to realize that.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
You know, we do need help. We can't do this
on our own. We need help from God. We need
help from others.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
You know.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
We have to be able to trust God in the process.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Kids, trusting God, coming to God, throwing yourself in front
of God, you know, and just saying God.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
I'm here here. I don't know how we're going to
do this, but you know what, just do it. It
has to be done. Mm hmm.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Just reliance on God. God is key, God is centered.
God is above all.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Amen. Amen for that, Yes Amen.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
What keeps me focused, It's what keeps you focused? Yes, No, God,
I'll be lost, very lost.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
A man a man. All right, Well, I love those
words of encouragement.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
I'm sure it helped someone out there that's listening or
watching today.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
So I would love for you to share.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
I saw yesterday when you posted on social media the
article and I was like.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Oh, look at him, and I you know, liked it,
and I was like, oh, I want him.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
To talk about, you know, an article that was published,
and so share with us all about your article.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
Right.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
So, after I had came back from Atlanta, I had
took my award back to the center and then the administrators,
you know, they had sent out a message to the
headquarters just acknowledging me that I had won the award.
Then from there, the headquarters wanted to do a story
(33:16):
on me, and you know, they started digging deeper into
my background and then my education, and they were kind
of expired by you know.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
The challenges that I had overcome.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
So, you know, it just basically spoke about my academics,
how I study, you know, biblical studies and apologetics, which.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Is very key to our faith because you know, we
have a lot of.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Secular professors and teachers that are trying to teach our children,
you know, Elus and all these other.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Things everything to try to discredit God from being creator.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
So you know, would acknowledge it, acknowledge the academic part,
and acknowledge my family in their music, you know, the
inspiration for the music and how I ve the education to.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
You know, stay biblically sound in the music, right because.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Sometimes you know, you hear a lot of this music
and it's just like all over the place, right, like
where's the message? And you know, I understand if you
go left a little bit and then you bring it back,
they just stay out there. They never bring it back
right right, very It's very key that.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
On the gospel, you know, right, continue permission.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Yeah, well that's beautiful.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
I'm sure that was such a joy to see and
to read. And yeah, for them to do the article
on you. So yes, congratulations on that and and your
award and with that from the your award was from the.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Gospel Choice Musical.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Okay, okay, got it? Okay, awesome, it's from lant Okay, great?
Are you going now? Are you going back this season?
Do you know if you're going back?
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Not too sure at the moment.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Not yeah, okay, okay, all right, okay, So a few
more things I would love for you to talk about
what is next for you? What should we be looking
out for any music coming out? Yes, tell us what's
what's going on in your world?
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Yeah, so I have Well, I have some music in
the vault okay that you know, holding on to.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
But I'm thinking, I said, I might have to let it.
I'm gonna have to release it because I'm like.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
A visual person.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
I'm a visual learner and i want a video for
all my songs. But I'm finally coming to the realization
that I'm not gonna be able to have a video
for all my songs. So I think I'm gonna just
start just releasing the music that I have, so you know,
people can get a better idea of you know, what
(36:14):
type of artists I am and my music and the
type of flow that I have with my music. So
soon I am working on some new music as well
that I plan on release and soon. And you know,
my plans for the future is, you know, I'm working
on a book, academic book, a theology book where I
(36:39):
know I had just started a course.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
I did it online.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
I had about twenty individuals who joined the course, which
it was an inductive Bible study teaching people how to
do inductive Bible study, how to you know, observe and
interpret the scriptures without relying on commentaries and things and
that nature.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
So I'm working on a book. I had that course out,
and I'm planning in the future to have some type
of show that I'm working on. But you know, I
really can't say too much of that on there until
good okay, okay, guys on that. But you know, I'm working,
I'm working.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
I'm working, You're working, So we'll be on the lookout
for you know, your book and also your show, you know,
so you can't say too much about it, and it's
all good.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Well, well we can.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Well we'll check you out on you know, social media
and see when you when you drop it, and then
we'll you know, be able to stay connected that way
and also see what you're doing.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
So yeah, well awesome, that is great that all the
amazing things that you're doing, and it's just just wonderful.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
How you know you're able just to share your testimony
on today and I know that it's going to help
someone out there who you know, may be struggling and
just to you know, just need to hear you know
that there is hope and and there is hope and God.
And so I'm so grateful for you to be able
to be vulnerable and to share your story. And so
(38:06):
let the audience know where can we find more about you?
Your website, social media?
Speaker 4 (38:12):
Right so, I'm on Facebook under Ethom Kings. That's the
main social media platform where I usually post everything at
for the time being, in Instagram ephom Kings O seven,
and on my YouTube channel. I don't have much content
(38:35):
on the YouTube channel, but moving forward for the future,
I might plan on doing like a podcast dealing with
theological issues, you know, and have different people with, you know,
different theological perspectives that we can talk and reason and
(38:56):
see some differences in our perspective and interpretation of the Bible.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
I love that awesome.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
I will be on the lookout, so let me know
when that drops because I would love to listen in
or watch in once.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
You have that.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
So all right, my friends, So before we go, we
always play this game at the end of the show,
and this is called would you rather?
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Are you ready?
Speaker 2 (39:24):
I give you two choices and you tell me what
your favorite choice is and why so I have a
few for you.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
We'll do.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Let's see a couple for you today. All right, so
let's see.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Are you a I always ask this one, Jesus, are
you I've been asking on all the shows. Are you
a night out or an early bird?
Speaker 4 (39:49):
Well?
Speaker 3 (39:51):
Night out? Because I'm up pretty much.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
Studying, yep, Okay, night out?
Speaker 4 (39:58):
Okay, Right, can't wait to get back on the early
bird because definitely my b is like, okay, ready shut
it down early.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
So naturally you're an early bird, but you've just been
a night ow okay, all right, okay, all right, So
let's go to the sports.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Are you? Do you prefer basketball or football?
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Football?
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Football? Okay? Okay, so you like football? All right? Okay?
Did you play football or that's.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
Just in the neighborhood here and there? But I find
football more entertaining from me than basketball.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
I would definitely choose football over basket football.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Okay, football over basketball to play and to watch both, right, yeah, okay,
all right, okay, all right, So I had to ask
you this because you're in You're in New Jersey, So
all right, would you prefer East coast or West Coast?
Speaker 1 (40:56):
I don't know. Have you been over here at the
west West Coast?
Speaker 4 (41:00):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (41:00):
No? No, okay, the part it's not been I mean Texas.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Okay, never mind Southwest, never mind that question, and never mind,
we'll just throw that one out. I thought maybe you
came to visit over here, so I was like asking
what your preference, but yeah, never mind, you're gonna say
East Coast, so.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Never mind, all right, we'll throw that one out. Okay,
all right, So the next one would be, would you
prefer a comedy night or a poetry night?
Speaker 3 (41:31):
M hm?
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Or it could be a tie, but we'll give you
that if you if if you're kind of tossing up.
Speaker 4 (41:39):
Because if I definitely, uh love a good laugh.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
We definitely need a good laugh. Yeah, but I also
love poetry, okay, So.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
If I was to choose, I would say I would
say the poetry poetry.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Okay, you prefer you would if you have to choose,
but yeah, they're both a tie for you, all right,
poetry night, okay?
Speaker 1 (42:06):
All right? Well that was fun, my friend.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
So before we let you go, are there any words
that you would like to say before we say goodbye?
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Right? So I just want to tell everybody, you know,
just stain courage.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
Don't allow your circumstances to dictate you know who you
are as a person.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
I have this one gentleman at the center that he says,
oh who we are. We are beautiful people and that's
who we are and that's what we need to reflect.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
So don't allow your circumstances and challenges and like to
reflect other.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Than what you are, because we are beautiful people.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Man. Yes, and any shout outs? Do you want to give.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Family? My wife, the kids, you know, everybody.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
I love you know what you're doing with you know,
with the podcast, and how pray that God will continue
to wash Thank you.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Thank you man, and you as well, you as well,
so continue to do you know, your music, and I'm
just so grateful that you are just helping other people
through counseling and through your music and I'm just sharing
and spreading God's word.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
And yes, so we're on the.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Lookout for your for your new music and your your
book and and all the great things that you're that
you're going to be doing. So yeah, so thank you
so much for your time, for being vulnerable sharing your story.
Speaker 1 (43:34):

Speaker 3 (43:36):
Thank you, God bless you. It was a pleasure, all right.
