Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is a special presentation of WVRC Media Sports the
Class Single A Playoffs with the Tucker County Mountain Lions.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Our coverage is brought to you.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
By Matikie Cole, House, Hunter's Real Estate, Mountain Valley Bank,
West Virginia, Babing, Pioneer Insurance Agency, Dave's Service Center, and
Sunny's Carpet.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Now let's get to the stadium for all the action
on ninety four point seven. W ELK, and we.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Welcome you in to sunny beautiful Parsons, West Virginia. Little cool,
but not too bad, much better than what we would
have had had this game been played as originally scheduled
on Friday night, but it is Sunday afternoon football here
on ninety four point seven w ELK. Brought to you
by mckike Cole, keeping the lights on since nineteen seventy seven,

(00:48):
and proud supporters of the Tucker County Mountain Lions. Welcome
into the broadcast on this sunny Sunday afternoon. Greg White,
Mike de Pascoal, and dem Manuel Smith joins us here.
Now we will eventually get Demanual down on the sidelines,
but there are some equipment issues I won't get into details,
but suffice to say that there's a planned power outage

(01:09):
at our transmitter site, which means we are on a
low power transmitter and Demanuel wouldn't be able to hear us.
So we're going to keep him up here in the
booth until we get that transmitter back up. If you
are listening, or if you have friends listening over here
in the Parsons area, please let them know. They could
stream us live at nine four seven welk dot com
or download the WVRC Media appts absolutely free and you

(01:32):
can get the game there. So let's talk about this game.
All the mess with the injunctions, lawsuits, all that stuff
pushed us back. It's round number one of the playoffs.
All that stuff's done taken care of. Only two games left.
This is one of them. Mike de Pascal from a
coaching standpoint, how frustrating was it to have to wait

(01:52):
an extra week while the courts got involved.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
I think if you're Tucker County, it really didn't impact
you too much because you knew you were going to
be playing at home. You knew what you need to do.
You're just waiting to see who you're playing. I think
if you're East Hardy and coach Kevin Worndorf. It was
a lot of things going on because one you didn't
know where you were going. You didn't know where you
were playing. You know, it's really hard to prepare when
you don't know those two things. So you know, other
than that, you know you've got an extra couple weeks
of practice. They probably work some things out. You know,

(02:15):
after a ten game regular season, both teams were probably
happy with the extra couple weeks off because you got
a lot of guys healthy, I'm sure indeed.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
So we bring in Dmmanuel Smiths and first of all,
welcome to the Welcome to the broadcast.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
That's gonna be thank you. I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
We're going to have fun. Eventually we'll kick you out
of the booth and hopefully get you down on the sidelines.
So let's talk with you just a little bit. You've
been researching over the last few days. Obviously you were
on WD and E FM last night with Jim Triplett
covering the Elkins playoff game. Unfortunately, the Tiger season comes
to an end with a loss at Herbert Hoover and
so now you shift gears. We start talking about this

(02:48):
Tucker County team. They have been dominant on offense, they
have been dominant on defense throughout the season, but the
one team that gave them fits this year is the
team they're facing today. Do you think if you were
the coach, if you were Aj Rapping in his position,
would that give you calls for concern?

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Absolutely, And you're gonna hear Aj here shortly talk about
that how this is the best fifteen seed he's ever
going to face. So when you look at East Hardy
and Tucker County, no matter when they play, where they play,
what the records are, it's always one of those games
that can go either way. And that's what he expects today,
and that's exactly the message I'd be given to the team.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So let me let me bring both of you in here. Obviously,
they had a significant amount of snow. Now they did
get as much here in persons as they did up
the mountain over toward Thomas and Kanaane Valley and all that.
But they did get some snow. As a matter of fact,
we were told that yesterday the field still had snow
on it. Now, obviously we've had a little bit of rain,
temperatures have warmed up and sunshine. So Demanuel will start

(03:41):
with you, what's the concern with the field? Which looks great,
but you were out on it earlier and there's some
soft spots.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Right from a few standpoint from up here, it looks wonderful.
Now once you get down on field level and you
start to walk across the field, very concerning for both teams.
There's a lot of muddy areas. There's a lot of
slippery spots on the field. And Tucker is going to
have the advent obviously because this is their home field.
They've played on it multiple times, to where East Hardy
you know, may come out struggling until they can figure
out how to you know, gain some of that footing.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Mike Depasker will talk to you same thing with the
field conditions. We were watching teams warm up. Tucker County
obviously very familiar, it's their home field. Yeah, East Hardy
over here, and it looked like a couple of players
were having problems with footing. When you've got a team
like Tucker County that's going to run right at you
and then Jared Real is going to make the hard
cuts and bounce it outside. Is that a concern for

(04:29):
head coach Devin Orndorf.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
You know it may, but you know, this is a
team in East Hardy that plays on a grass surface
year round as well. You know, it's not like they're
coming in and playing to Saint Mary's or Dodgers County,
who's used to playing on the artificial services. So you know,
both these teams play on grass. The one thing, and
we talked to a couple of people, was luckily for
everybody involved, we've had an extremely dry summer and extremely

(04:53):
dry fall for the most part, so this field's not
as in bad condition as it could be. All three
of us walked across this field. It's in a similar
situation it was last year when we were here for
the Williamstown game. When you get outside the numbers and
outside the hash marks, it's really sloppy and I.

Speaker 6 (05:08):
Think you're going to see footing issues from both teams.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
And again, you know, I think it benefits Tucker County
because they're more of a smash mouth team this year.
They're going to hand the ball off to Jaredrill just
they'm run right up the middle.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
So you talk about the playoffs, and again this is
round number one, and it is extremely unusual to be
playing on Sunday, but everything got moved back, which really
has nothing to do with the fact that it snowed,
it rained, it was windy. It was a bit of
a mess on Friday when this game was originally supposed
to play. Now a lot of the playoff games have
already been determined, and in fact, we've talked about that just

(05:41):
a little bit ago. There are only two games left.
You have this one. Also, you have Independence and James Monroe.
Of course, James Monroe coming from the Union area and
they were kind of in the path of that storm
that hit up into Greenbrier and Pocahontas County. But in
case you missed it, let me just quickly and we'll
talk more about this at halftime, but quickly run over

(06:02):
the scoreboard. In Quad A. Every team in Quada makes
the playoffs. Third beat up on Pottersburg seventy seven to seven.
Spring Mills beat Hedgesville fifty six to nothing. Jefferson over
Cavil Midland forty eight twenty eight, Wheeling Park Musselman forty
three to nothing. Huntington got by University fifty six to
twenty eight. Hurricane and George Washington good game down are

(06:22):
in the hurricane area and the home team gets the
one point win. Morgantown over Woodrow Wilson thirty five to ten.
Parkersburg South beat Washington twenty four to seventeen. In Class
Triple A number one, Crimston beat up on Hampshire sixty
three to nine. Fairmont Senior over Point Pleasant thirty five
to six. Bridgeport blanked RCB sixty five to nothing. Herbert
Hoover got by Elkins forty nine to seven down in

(06:44):
Elkview last night or yesterday afternoon, Oakkeill beat Lewis County
twenty seven to six. Nitro over Shady Spring forty one
to seven, and we'll talk a little bit about that.
That game actually got called with about eight minutes to
go in the game due to brawls that kept breaking
out on the field, but we'll talk more about that
at halftime. Spring Valley beat up on East Fairmont fifty

(07:06):
four to six. North mary And got by Ripley forty
seven to ten. In Class Double A. Frankfort over West
Side forty five to nothing. Rohan County beat Chapmanville thirty
five fourteen. As we said, James Monroe Independence playing today,
Williamstown beat Moorefield forty seven to twenty one. Wheeland Central
over Nicholas County forty one to twenty. Philip Barber gets

(07:26):
a home playoff win twenty eight seventeen over Clay County
Number seven got by Wayne forty to twelve. In Bluefield
beat South Harrison a close one twenty to eighteen. And
in Class Single A tug Valley number one in Single
A beat Tulsa forty eight to eight. Wahama smacks around
Madonna sixty eight thirteen. Cameron shuts out Valley WEBSLS sixty
two to nothing. Doddridge County beat Wirt County twenty eight

(07:50):
to twenty. Sherman over Tyler Consolidated at thirty to fourteen.
Pendleton County beat Meadowbridge forty four to thirty. The winner
of this game will play number seven Pendleton County next weekend.
And Petersburg beat Riverview forty nine to eight. And you know,
guys that we were talking about this on the way over.
It's the first time I can remember in recent years

(08:12):
that there were no upsets in round one of the playoffs, right, yep.
I mean usually sometimes you get a ten that upsets
a seven. Sometimes you know more often than not, you
get a nine upsetting, and eight didn't happen this year.
And should Independence win in Double A and Tucker County win,
that's a clean sweep. That's a clean sweep. Every game

(08:33):
in the first round of the playoffs the upper seed one.
So when does it get crazy? When do we go,
oh my gosh, I can't believe this team beat this team.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
You know, I'm not sure it's going to this year. Greg, you,
you demand you and I do a lot of high
school football games. We see a lot of these games.
We watch a lot of them. There's just not a
lot of parody this year. I see in West Virginia
high school football. You've got your dominant teams. I don't
really think you're going to see any upsets till you
get to the semifinals. I think all four tops are
all going to get to the semi finals.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I agree, you know you you come into it. I
think for me what I look at is, uh, you know,
Triple A. You know, everybody kind of expects Bridgeport, but
and and and they're a long way from here. I
get it. But I'm telling you, I've got a friend
that coaches Princeton is quietly at number one, but nobody's
talking about.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Princeton and the other the other team in Triple A.
And I think this is where you might see an upset,
is no one's really talking about Spring Valley either. You've
got to remember Spring Valley's got three losses, but all
three of those are Quad A teams, and all three
of those Quad A teams are Cattle, Midland, Huntington. And
I think, uh, I can't get me wrong, but maybe
Spring Mills. So you know, you're talking about Spring Valley's

(09:42):
got three losses, but the three of the best teams
in Quaida.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Well, and I think you look at Quada, and of
course that break trying to determine the first round of
the playoffs gave time for a court to review the
games for spring Mills, which is the Quad A school
up in the eastern Panhandle. They had a player that
was declared ineligible and they had to forfeit four games. Well,
then they appealed that because it falls under federal lawcay

(10:10):
they got them back. Now they're number two. So you've
got Martinsburg Spring Mills number one, number two dominating teams,
and they could be the two teams in the Quad
A Championship playing in Charleston. But that's a story for
another time. So we've got everybody here. We're getting ready
to honor America. We'll take a break when we come back.
Dmaniuel Smith had an opportunity to catch up with head
coach head coach aj Rapid Tucker County. We'll be back

(10:32):
to Tuker County coming up on ninety four point seven elk.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Tucker County Mountain Lion Football on ninety four point seven.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
W alk Elkins.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
And welcome in to playoff football here at Tucker County
High School.

Speaker 10 (11:53):
I'm here with coach aj Rapp and coach how we
feeling this afternoon.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Oh, it's good.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
It's a good day to finally play. I mean, it's
like you said he was talking earlier.

Speaker 11 (11:59):
There's been a while, so, you know, with delay and
the court hearings and all that, and then the weather
we had here and we finally get to play football
on a Sunday. It's an unusual playing on a Sunday,
but hey, we're playing.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
That's main thing.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
The main thing is you're playing on a Sunday. You
just mentioned it obviously, you know you had a couple
of weeks off. Was it difficult to kind of keep
the focus and everything under control of the last couple
of weeks versus if you have a regular bye week
or was it just business as usual?

Speaker 6 (12:21):
Yeah, because we really know what to do.

Speaker 11 (12:22):
I mean, after the Sunday meeting of Parkersburger, you know,
the original we had, we were playing Saint Mary's, so
we've kind of focused on him for a few days
and then started hearing the rumors going around, and we
try to focus on two teams, and you know, when
you're focusing on too, you're not really focusing on any
So it kind of got rough there, but we just
kept doing what we're gonna do, and you know, try
to refine some points that we do with the kids,
and they know what they're doing, and you know, we're
gonna stick with what guys here.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
All year and do that well again another ten and overseason.
You guys have been shrewing presses over the last couple
of years. What's the difference between last year's playoff team
versus yester years? Any any differences are kind of similar
to what you've been.

Speaker 11 (12:53):
Doing a similar I mean, we got a lot of
good guys, good athletes, and good spots. You know, smart quarterbacks,
take care of the run the system well for you know,
Sam did a great job this year. Ethan did a
great job the last couple of years before that, you
know wide receiver wise, got good guys out there to
get the ball to. And then of course we have
Jared Rill, you know, running back, and he takes here
a lot of the force.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Yeah, speaking of Jerry Reel, another All State performer at
running back, just what does he mentioned your program since
he's been here and as he continues to lead you guys,
see that's playoff run.

Speaker 11 (13:19):
It's tough. It's tough to pick up with side of
the ball. He helps us to most of them, you
know what I mean. He's a leader on defense. I
mean he was Coke PBC Defensive Player of the Year
and he was an Offensive Player of the Year. So
you know, he's recognized for his talents on both sides
of the ball, and you know, he's a big deal
on both.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
Sides of us.

Speaker 11 (13:32):
And you know, we had some guys step up this
year too. We lost some linebackers from last year. Marky
Phillips stupped in at the linebacker again this year and
he's done a great job for us here at linebacker
to assist Jared, So you.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Know, absolutely, and talk about your offense. You guys have
scored four hundred and sixty four points threat throughout ten games,
amature about forty six points a game, only giving up
ninety one, which I think is the best in program history,
if I'm not mistaken. Just kind of talk about from
the offensive and defensive standpoint, what this team has done
this year.

Speaker 11 (13:57):
Ah, you know, they've bought into what we've asked him
to do. And you know, and we don't run a
whole lot of stuff, but what they do run, they
run efficiently and both sides of the ball. And you know,
our defensive staff, Coach Anders and coach Tobacco do a
great job getting them guys ready week to week and
planning on what we're gonna do against teams we play
because we play everybody from a two tight stick eye
team to a spread team, you know, and so we've
seen it all. And that's a good thing about playoff time.

(14:18):
And you know, anything he started throws ass today ever
want to see it? And I said, offensively, me and
coach Evans take care of the offensive side of the
ball mostly, and the kids are just efficient. You know,
Sam's come in. You know, he commented as a quarterback,
he didn't it to play last year. He was injured
throw a basketball injury. Had to set out basketball in
football and come in this year and nearly did a
lot better job than what I expected him to do.
And you know it, it's been a great surprise for us.

(14:38):
But you know, I really trust him and what his way.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
He does things. Good deal and field condition wise, what
do you think today? Are pretty good shape? You guys
are used to it. Anything going to change or just
business as usual.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
Business as usually, go with what got you here.

Speaker 11 (14:50):
I tried that a long time ago, try to change
them up one night for a playoff game, and didn't
work out so well. So you got to go with
what the boys are comfortable with and what we've done
all year to get you here. And you know the
field conditions they're wet.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
You know, we're used to that.

Speaker 11 (15:00):
We haven't played any wet games already this year because
we've been either on turfer. It's been that we had
to drought so much this year. The dust was on
this field. That's the first ever. But you know, the
field's good for what we have. We get to play
on the last three weeks of the seasons. We were
awful week and in away two weeks and then with
the break now we had four inches of snow on
it yesterday and we came out here and got it
off of it. It's good grass today. It's gonna be
a softy games. Playoff football. It's what we're waiting.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
On absolutely well. Speaking of playoff football, you've got a
team over here in East Hardy, very familiar with.

Speaker 10 (15:26):
You know, it's gonna be a tough draw here in
the first round.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
It's always a war when you two teams battle go
ahead to head on the grid iron. What do you
expect to see out East Hardy today?

Speaker 11 (15:33):
You know, always said they're the best fifteen seed we'll
play and every year I've ever made the playoffs, all
anything I asked is let's play someone different, and it
never happens. This is a fifth time in three years
we've had to play East Hardy, you know, three times
in regular season and two in the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (15:46):
So you know coach.

Speaker 11 (15:47):
Worndorf will have them ready and then you know they're
a powerful team. They've kind of changed up what they
do in the season. You know, from when we played
them back in week three to what we see on
tape here the last few games of the year, they've
become a powerful running team and you know we're gonna
have to get up in there to stop that run.
Still worry about because they're still capable of doing that.

Speaker 10 (16:01):
Fast and all right, coach, Well, I know it's almost
day time. I know you got lots to do. I'm
gonna let you get out of here.

Speaker 5 (16:06):
I appreciate your time as always, best of luck, and
we'll be back, Yes, sir, We'll be back with more
pregame right here on ninety four point seven.

Speaker 6 (16:12):

in the booth right now. As soon as we get

(19:32):
the transmitter backup, we're sending the manual down to the
field with white tennis shoes. By the way, Mud.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
Until his wife didn't dress him this morning.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
He did not, apparently not she did not, So the
two teams are out. We have got a great crowd
on hand here for Sunday afternoon football Tucker County. Across
the way that is the home sideline here in Parsons
on the other side and over by, I guess the
border vide building East Hardy. Here on the near side,

(20:03):
East Hardy and white jerseys with green pants, green numerals
trimmed in gold, and the white helmet with the e
H in green. On the side across the way, Tucker
County in those imposing black uniforms jerseys, pants, helmets, gold
numerals trimmed in white. So let's talk coaching, Mike. I'm
gonna let you be the coach for East Hardy. Talk

(20:24):
about what you want to do on offense coming into
this game this afternoon.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
You know the East start as a team and likes
to throw the football. They're going to try to do that.
I think what they're going to have to do is
you heard coach rap talk they've changed throughout the season
to a more power running team. I think they got
to continue to do that. Slow this game down and
keep the Tucker. Your best defense might be keeping Copper
County offense off the field.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
So Dmanuel Smith, I'm now gonna promote you to head
coach of the Tucker County Mountain Lines. That way, when
AJ retires, you you've already got a JOSSA. Yeah, you're
in good check. So on offense, what are you going
to do because it does look like Tucker County won
the toss and they will kick. They deferred their options.
So you're the coaching staff, what are you doing on offense?
If you're the Mountain Lion.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
Well, I want to control the clock number one, and
the way you do that is by the running game.
So not only that, we talked about the field conditions
earlier as well. And you know it's muddy, sloppy. This
is a Jared Real football game if you ever had one.
So it is pound the football, pound the rock, move
the sticks, control the.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Clock well, and we talk about Jared Real. Of course
he is the Tailback's time. Now for the starting lineups,
we'll talk about the offense first. For East Hardy across
the front, it'll be junior Corbyn Miller, freshman Nick Rumsberg,
senior Ryan Jennings, John Workman and Sean O'Callahan the senior.
The wide receivers Levi Price, Christian Balserman, and Dayton Dove.

(21:41):
In the backfield, fullback is a Eli Matthias Price, Strawterman
is the tailback and Brayden Gregory is the guy you
gotta stop if you're Tucker County. For the Mountain Lions
of Tucker County, they'll go across the front with Colin Teeter,
Quante Mitchell, Gavin Nester, Mark Phillips, and John Crossland. The
tight end is Keelan Eichelberger. The receivers Garrett will Fong

(22:05):
and Reed Kaisimore, who have combined for over one thousand
yards and sixteen touchdowns receiving on the season. In the backfield,
we just talked about him, Jared Reel, the five to five,
one hundred and sixty one pounds senior averages. Let's see
about sixteen hundred and fifteen yards. It's one hundred and
sixty two yards a game, one hundred and nineteen yards

(22:29):
receiving with two touchdowns. By the way, Reel twenty five
touchdowns on the season. At quarterback, Samuel Marks the junior
sixty four percent completion percentage, almost sixteen hundred yards, twenty
four touchdowns and only three interceptions.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
That's crazy impressive.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
All right, we're ready to go. We are underway here
in Parsons, Tucker County. Sent to kick it off. It
is a low kick on the ground, fielded at the
twenty five yard line, by East Hardy across the thirty
and getting stopped short of the thirty five yard line
before he is gang tackled down and then a flag
comes in so we won't have to see what that

(23:07):
is on the return chase.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
Rex Road, You've got some extra curriculars from the get go.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Yeah, these two teams know each other real well. You
might see some of that. You know, they don't like
each other. It's a big rivalry game, a lot at
stake today.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Well because from here to Baker it's how far thirty
five forty minutes maybe and the weather's.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Good yeah with the new route, yeah, probably that long.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
So yeah, you're a half hour away. I mean that
essentially is a fairly big rivalry. So rex Road returned
the short kick and then as the gang tackle happened,
you had about nine Tucker County players and you had
some East Hardy players coming over to try to help out.
And the penalty is going to go against East Hardy

(23:53):
from the spot of the foul. Spot of the fowl
is going to be the twenty eight But I didn't
did they make.

Speaker 6 (23:59):
The call yet?

Speaker 5 (24:00):
Oh wow?

Speaker 2 (24:04):
So East Hardy is going to get called on a
face mask to start the game, certainly not going to
make head coach Devin Orndorf very happy because you had
pretty decent field position and a personal foul face mask
penalty backs that up. So East Hardy just underway here
in the ballgame will start out all the way back

(24:24):
at their own nineteen yard line. Braden Gregory is the quarterback.
He is out of the pistol, two receivers to the left,
single to the right, first down and ten from their
own nineteen yard line. Snap comes back. It is a
hand off to Stratterman looking for running room. He'll get
to the twenty spinning diving ahead, and he actually know

(24:45):
he got ahead of the twenty yard line back to
the line of scrimmage, and then the ball came out.
Tucker County says they have it, but the officials ruled
that Stratterman was already down and he got did he
get positive yard aage? He did as he got ahead
to the nineteen yard line. So let me correct myself
that original line of scrimmage was the fifteen, not the nineteen. Great,

(25:08):
so excuse me on that. So he'll get up to
the nineteen yard line, make it second down in about
five for East Hardy sunshine blanketing the field, not so
much here in the press box. Second down and five,
handoff again, Stratterman takes the handoff, gets in behind those
big blocks, drives his legs. He's going to be close
to the first down. It will depend on the spot.

(25:28):
But from the far side, official looks to me, Man,
you're like, he got it.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
He's right at them at the uh mark there. I
believe they are going to move the chains.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
They are. Indeed, so, Mike Depascal. We talk about this
East Hardy team, They're pretty big upfront. Tucker County is
huge up front. We've seen that throughout the season. But
right now East Hardy setting up some pretty good blocks
for their running back.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Again, I think you see what both teams want to
do right now. He'stardy's gonna want to run the ball
right up the middle and not have to worry about
throwing football too much.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
First and ten from the run twenty four yard line,
farside hash Market moving left right, opening possession of the game.
Snap comes back to Gregory. He drops it. He has
to pick it up, nowhere to go. His feet go
out from under him and then he is knocked down.
It will go down as a sack as he had
to go down and kind of dig the ball out
of the turf. They'll knock him back to about the
seventeen yard line. That is a huge loss of about

(26:21):
seven yards. Make it second down in seventeen.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Yeah, he fumbled a snap there, greg and didn't have
anything to do with it. Tried to run around, try
to make something happen, and just couldn't do anything with it.
And Tucker County was there waiting for him.

Speaker 10 (26:33):
Yeah, good job on Gavin Dester, number sixty six.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Clocker rolling here in the first quarter, just under ten
minutes to go, opening drive of the game for East Hardy.
They now look at a second and seventeen from their
own seventeen yard line. Gregory takes the snap, bobbles it.
Now he drops back. They want the screen. It is caught.
They've got him by the back of the jersey, dragging
his way ahead and he'll push his way ahead to

(26:57):
the twenty yard line. Cayden Barrett kind of snuck in.
He's not very tall. They tried to sneak him in
behind that big offensive line and he caught the screen,
but Tucker County was waiting on it. He'll get ahead
back to the nineteen yard line, where it will now
be third down and about fifteen.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Yeah, something you didn't want to have happen if your
coach Orndorf and this East Started team was getting behind
the chains early, because when you do this, Tucker County
defense smells blood in the water.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Third down. They're down third and fifteen for East Hardy.
Three receivers come to the near side, one to the
fire side. Gregory out of the pistol with Strawtterman on
his right, right in the middle of the field. As
the snap he wants to throw it, fires the pass
down the middle. It is caught and stretching ahead as
Caden Barrett and he's going to be close to the
first down. He may have gotten that yump the near

(27:45):
side official says move the chains needed fifteen, he got fifteen.
It is first down for the Cougars at their own
thirty four yard line. Fifteen yard pass and catch.

Speaker 6 (27:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Cayden Bart didn't play a whole lot against that Tuckerer
the against Tiger's valley when we saw him. They use
a lot of price with him. And nice reception by
that young man reaching the ball getting that.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
First down absolutely great. Great recognition, knowing where the sticks were.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Stretched it out and managed to get it. It's first
down and at ten East Hardy with two receivers to
the near side, a wing goes in motion, sets up
behind the guard on the left. They handed off to
Price Stratterman. He's hit at the line of scrimmage and
slammed down. May have gotten a yard up to the
thirty five and that's about it. So you know, Tucker

(28:31):
County is starting to get a read on how they're
setting up and where they want to go with the ball.

Speaker 5 (28:36):
Absolutely, and the way they're going to win this game
is control the lot of scrimmage with that defensive front.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
I think you see too, East already trying to control
the claw keep this Tucker County offense off the field.
Already used about four minutes of game time.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Smart football ball on the thirty five yard line far
side hash mark moving left to right toward the scoreboard
here in Parsons and now we'll are blowing. A flag
has come down. Do we have a delay of game?
I think we may have the the official the back
judge is saying the delay of game. It is a

(29:12):
delay of game against East Hardy. So their second penalty
of the game will back them up to the thirty
yard line and that'll make it second down and fourteen.
So I wasn't watching and I'm not used to unfortunately
looking at the play clock, so I really wasn't paying attention,

(29:33):
and it seemed like it went really fast.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Well, I was gonna say, you got forty seconds from
the time the ball was spotted, and that did seem
like really quick. And you see the officials now talking
about it. I think they're trying to figure out if
the clock didn't the clock didn't run at the right.

Speaker 6 (29:47):
Time or what.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Great, so I think, yeah, they're gonna mark it all.
So it is a penalty against East Hardy. You're listening
to Tucker County Playoff Football on ninety four point seven
w E l K a presentation of Metiki Cole And
now they're going to change it again. As they are
moving it back, they say that it was a error

(30:10):
and so they'll stay where they are, make it second
down to nine at the thirty five. That's good officiating, absolutely.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
It is.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Two receivers to the near side, that's the wide side
of the field, single receiver of the far side. Now
they'll bring stratoman over here and they want to set
up the screen. He makes the catch, he cannot get
away from the tackles. Two defenders Jared Reel, Garrett will
Thong help it out, and then the lead defender on
the tackle, Braxton George. They come in and blow up

(30:41):
the wide receiver screen back at the thirty one yard line,
thirty yard lines, so that goes down as a five
at yard loss. Make it now third and about fourteen.

Speaker 5 (30:54):
That was a great, great open field read by Braxton
George one on one and with a lot of space
made the play.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
So third down and long again. East Hardy has converted
on one of these before three receivers left Singer to
the right, Graydon Gregory has a time in the pocket,
drives back wide open receiver Levi Price makes the catch
forty five forty thirty five, thirty twenty five and dives
inside of the twenty yard line. Levi Price got behind
the secondary of Tucker County makes the catch and now

(31:25):
they are inside of the red zone. First down for
the Cougars of East Tardy.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Yeah, greg he found his soft spot right in the
middle of that defensive zone and a two deep zone
for Tucker County and he found that soft spot and
Gregory just hit him and away he went. They're down
into the red zone. Looks like down on a round
fourteen yard line. Indeed, iks passing catch fifty six yards
on that play.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Thank you. I was gonna ask you to do the math.
There was no chance I was gonna do that.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
Well, kudos to the offensive line as well. I mean
the quarterback had all kinds of time to scan the field.
Good job with the offensive front.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
East Hardy knocking on the door at the Tucker County
fourteen yard line. First down and ten, greg hands it off. No,
Gregory's going to keep it himself. Right up the middle
of the field. He was inside of the ten, diving
his way ahead. He's close to the end zone. Did
he get in? He did not. He is close though,
he is down near the goal line. He dove for it.

(32:16):
And now we've got a flag down stand by. This
one could be coming back. The flag came in thrown
by the white cap, who obviously is behind the play.
And I think they're gonna call a false start on
East Hardy. No, it's a hold on East Hardy. So
the Cougars were set up first down and ten or

(32:39):
first and goal rather at about the one yard line,
and now they're going to back it up and they'll
be in the hole again.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
Yeah, a hold on that play brings it back about
ten yards. But nice play right there by East Hardy
is Gregory just went right up the middle. This East
Hardy offensive line opened up some big holes early in
this ball game.

Speaker 5 (32:58):
The other concern is he's for his hearty. So far,
there've been some crucial penalties that's back them up in
critical moments here on this opening drive.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Now, so the penalties this year are from the line
of scrimmage, So that moves it back to the twenty
four yard line. First down and twenty from the Tucker
County twenty four East Hardy Breading Gregory has it, tries
to bounce it outside, tries to break a tackle, can't
do it. Then he gets stacked up, stood up and
shoved over near the Tucker County line. He's going to

(33:27):
be not quite at the twenty about the twenty one
yard line. Give him a three yard pickup and it
will be second down and about seventeen. So Braiden Gregory
and Strongerman doing the work. But I tell you what,
LEVI Price got behind. In his dimmanual you mentioned man
great protection for breeding Gregory. He's got all day to

(33:50):
stand in the pocket and throw the ball.

Speaker 10 (33:51):
Makes it a lot easier for your quarterback if you
have that kind of time.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Second and seventeen from the twenty one yard line, Gregory
wants to throw it again, drops backfires the fade pattern
for or the back corner of the ends. And he
had two receivers down there, well covered by Tucker County.
It is incomplete. It will now be third down and
along seventeen from about the twenty two yard line.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
Yeah, holds on drives, kill kill offensive drives, greg And
you're seeing that right now. As you said, they went
from a first and goal from about the one boun
to about third and eighteen now.

Speaker 6 (34:23):
And with this footing, I'm.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
Not sure you really want to try a field goal
from this far either early in this ballgame.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
Not from where they're located right now.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Yeah, that's kind of the soft spot for sure. Third
down and about eighteen from the Tucker County twenty two
yard line, three receivers near side, single to the fire side.
They fired the pass across the middle. A diving attempt
made by Caden Barty can't come up with it, and
it is now going to be fourth down for East Hardy.

(34:50):
And it's one of those situations where, you know, we
talk about the field goal, that's a long way. They
may be going to try it because they are sewing
some players in. Yeah, I mean, obviously you can't punt
it from your opponent's twenty yard line and might be
a little too far to go. So I think they're
gonna try to kick it.

Speaker 5 (35:08):
Interesting decision here.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Yeah, they're gonna spot the ball down. Looks like the
key kicking tee is gonna be placed at about the
twenty nine yard line. So at thirty nine yard field
goal attempt for East Hardy, snap is back, the kick
is away. It is gonna be short. No good, It
was accurate, but it does come up a little bit

(35:33):
short and it'll be a turnover on downs. That being said,
they ate six and a half minutes off that clock.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Yeah, they did, That's exactly right. That's a big key
for them.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
But the bigger stat is a boy, what a difference
that penalty made.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Oh yeah, they would have had it first in goal
like the one or two yard line, and then it
comes back. So They've got the ball spotted on the
twenty two yard line, so seventy eight yards away a
Tucker County has the football, first down and ten, first opportunity.
We get to see Samuel Marks at quarterback, who's in

(36:10):
the pistol, Jared Reel behind him, Two receivers right, two
to the left. They want to throw it on first down,
and it is incomplete pass intended for Keeling the Eichelberger.
They just wanted to hit the little quick hitter out
of the slot and it falls a little short.

Speaker 6 (36:26):
Yeah, real quick there.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
It almost looked like Eichelberger wasn't ready for that ball,
as I don't think he was aware that that was
the players running for him, or maybe he was supposed
to take a step back only a little screen, but
either way, he was not prepared for that pass.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
And at the time he was off there for sure.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Second down and ten for Tucker County. Two receivers to
the right, two to the left. They hand it off
to Jared Reel looking for running room right up the middle.
He'll break a tackle, push his way ahead across the
twenty five up two about the twenty six yard line,
give him about four on the carry. It'll make it
third down and about six four. Tucker County in again

(37:02):
early on East Hardy. They've done their homework and they're
playing tough upfront on both sides of the ball.

Speaker 4 (37:08):
Well, Greg, and if you remember, I think it was
two years ago, you and I came over and did
the playoff game, and East already got beat by this
same Tucker County team in the first round and then
beat him in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Clock is rolling four point fifty to go scoreless. First
quarter here in Parsons, Tucker County looks at a third
down AM six on their opening possession, with three receivers
bunched up to the near side. Samuel Mars wants to
throw a time in the pocket, fires that across the middle.
It is caught a tremendous catch in traffic, pulled down
by Garrett will Fong. Not only can he dunk a

(37:43):
basketball in basketball season, he can make a catch in traffic.
Pulls it down at the thirty nine yard line of
Tucker County. It is a thirteen yard game in a
first down.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Yeah, nice catch by Wolfolk. They're in traffic. I didn't
think he had it first, but he did make a
nice catch.

Speaker 10 (37:59):
I thought he's hard He had a chance to pick
that off.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Two receivers left, two to the right, ball on the
far side, Hash Mark moving right to left Tucker County.
Samuel Marx has the snap go over his head. He
picks it up. He's in trouble. He's gonna be hit.
He's gonna be sacked. Oh my, nowhere to go for
Samuel Marks. He picked up the babble snap and he
gets hit and brought down at the twenty five yard line.
It is a fourteen yard loss for Tucker County.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Yeah, bable snap, tried to pick it up and then
he he almost like kind of nonchalantly picked it up
and was like, I'm gonna look around.

Speaker 6 (38:32):
But then there's two East Tardy.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
Players right there ready looked like Nick no, sorry not Negro,
mattx Richard was out there to get him on the sack.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Well second right in the mud too, sorry, right in
the middle of it. Second down in twenty four for
Tucker County. Two receivers to the left, single to the right.
They handed off to Jared Reel. He dodges a tackle
in the backfield. Then East Hardy's waiting on him. They
will bring him down across the thirty yard line. Maybe
the thirty one maybe six yards on the carry makes

(39:00):
it third down and long after the six yard pick up.
So third down and about what eighteen?

Speaker 6 (39:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Wow, I got to get near a fifty yard line here.
Great to keep this drive going and can't it's not
four down territory.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Two receivers left, two to the right. Samuel Marx with
Jared Reel behind him on third down and long Marks
fires the pass looking deep down the field. He's got
a receiver inch caught. That's a thirty five yard line
across the thirty twenty five inside of the twenty down
to the fifteen yard line. Read Kaizamore streaking down the scene,
caught it drugging in and then drag two East Hardy

(39:40):
defenders inside of the fifteen to the fourteen yard line.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
Yeah, Cosmore with the fifty five yard touchdown reception, greg
and all he did was just beat his man right
off the line of scrimmage and Marx found him right
down the middle of the field on the steam route.

Speaker 5 (39:52):
That's a backbreaking for he's hardy. I mean, my goodness.
They played great on defense up to that point. Let
the young man's sneak behind him for a huge gain
and in out the red zoon.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
Well, let Mike do the math on that one too.
Fifty five great, thank you very much. Two receivers to
the right, single to the left of wing on the
right Samuel March. First down in ten for Tucker County
at the East Hardy fourteen. They hand it off to
Jared Reel. Know where to go inside. He tries to
hop outside just beyond the tackle and he'll get positive yardage,
albeit not much, down to about the eleven twelve yard line.

(40:25):
So right now, East Hardy doing a good job against
the run of Tucker County. They're kind of stymying Jared Reel.
I do not expect that to last.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
No, I don't expect to last either. But again, you know,
these two teams play each other a lot, they know
each other. I don't think you're going to see anything
that these two teams haven't seen.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Second down and seven for Tucker County from the East
Hardy eleven yard line. Two receivers to the right, single
to the left wing on the right. Snap is bobbled
by March. It goes right into the hands of Jared
Reel and he's running up the middle. Again, positive yardage,
but not enough for the first down. He is inside
of the ten. Looks like down to about the eight

(41:04):
yard line. It is indeed taking down to the eight
yard line. That's a three yard pickup. Make it third
down and four. Tucker County can get a first down
just inside of the five yard line.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
Yeah, and that was odd, Gregus. That ball just bounced
right off Marks into the hands of reel.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Look almost like it was designed, but not really. Two
receivers to the right, single to the left, and a
wing on the right. Marks out of the pistol has
the handoff. He's gonna keep it himself, running hard, diving ahead.
He should have enough for the first down inside of
the five yard line, not to the end zone. Actually,
they're gonna put him right at the five, so it

(41:42):
will be fourth down and about a yard needed. Four
got three fourth and one from the five.

Speaker 6 (41:49):
Yeah, i'd expect.

Speaker 4 (41:50):
You don't see Tucker County in under center very often,
but I accept under center and letting Marks just try
to get this right up.

Speaker 5 (41:55):
The little just gonna say the same thing. Now is
the time to go under center and pound the rock.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
Except they're gonna go out of the pistol. What do
we know exactly why we're up here here? Fourth down
and a yard from the five yard line of East Hardy,
Tucker County. With the football fourth and a yard, they
handed off to Jared Reel running hard off the right side.
He gets the push, he's got the first down. It
is first in goal at the two for the Tucker
County Mountain lines.

Speaker 6 (42:20):
Apparently you don't mean to go under center.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
Well, now, I will say, and I'm with you guys
on this, and we have discussed this before college, pro,
every level. The days of fourth and a yard is
they're running it out of the pistol, out of the shotgun,
and it's it doesn't make sense to any of us
because that's another three yards you gotta go.

Speaker 5 (42:40):
I'd worry about the field conditions right now. I'd want
to be close to that line running down.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
They may not get this playoff before the quarter ends,
and they do. Right as the quarter expires, they hand
it off to Jared Reel diving ahead. Is he going
to be into the end zone or is he going
to be short? I think he's going to be No,
he is in the end zone. The official Joe had
to run in amongst the pile and Jared Real punches
it in for the two yard touchdown. Tucker County takes

(43:07):
the lead as time expires in the first quarter. Six
to nothing.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
Yeah, good hard run. I didn't think he got in.
I thought he got stopped right there at the one
yard line. The officials are a heck of a lot
closer than we are. But again, good hard run there
before Tucker County.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Well, they both had to run in because they couldn't tell.
Like literally, there are twenty two players on the field,
and all twenty two players were between the hash marks,
and you couldn't tell if he broke the plane.

Speaker 5 (43:33):
Ohan if he didn't. Good job by Jared Reel to
keeps just nothing out there and make it look like
he was in.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Now the two point conversion Real in the backfield, Samuel
Mark sends him out. Marx is going to take the
pass and it is going to get knocked down. The
two point conversion is no good. Six to nothing. Tucker
County takes the lead at the end of the first quarter.
We'll be back to Parsons in thirty seconds on ninety

Speaker 6 (45:56):
Yeah, warwhite is probably the best way to describe though.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
Yeah they used to be still not as bad. I
will tell you probably the worst game I did, we
were doing a game in the Charleston area and we
went up to Riverside High School. Riverside High School was
a combination of DuPont and East Back. Their colors are
purple and black. They wore white jerseys with light purple
numerals in a mud game. We were just guessing at that.

Speaker 6 (46:21):
Point we may be doing that with East Tardy here
before the second half.

Speaker 10 (46:25):
It's getting real close to that point.

Speaker 2 (46:27):
Indeed, by the way, there is a flag down on
the return. There was a flag on the initial kickoff
return by East Hardy, and I believe the Cougars are
moving backwards. This one also is going to go against
the team from Baker And is that a crackback block signal?

Speaker 5 (46:47):
I believe.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
So it was hard to tell what the signal was
that the official was making, but it does appear because
it is a fifteen yard penalty and that is going
to move the ball looks like back to about the
the eleven yard line. Is that right? Yeah, ball's only eleven?

Speaker 6 (47:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (47:07):
East Hardy already three penalties thirty nine yards and that
doesn't include a couple that did not get called.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Eleven fifty two to go in the second quarter, six
to nothing, Tucker County on top of East Hardy Cougars
with the football first down and ten at their own
eleven yard line. Single receiver in the boundary to the
near side, one to the far side. Stratterman breaks a
tackle in the backfield, stumbles, uses his fingers to regain

(47:35):
his balance, stays on his feet, and pushes his way
ahead close to the seventeen eighteen yard line. So they
had him in the backfield. Nice job by Stratterman to
get out of there, and they will put him down
at the eighteen. It's a seven yard pickup.

Speaker 4 (47:48):
Yeah, a nice little run there by Stratman on that play.
See he tripped up a little bit footing, getting a
little bit sloppy down there. You can see where the
ball's at, especially on that far end of the field.
Lot of brown stuff that we can see. I'm gonna
say that's mud.

Speaker 2 (48:00):
We hope. Two receivers to the right, single to the
near side. Of course it's muddy. Out of the pistol,
snap comes back play action. They fire the pass to
the near side. It is caught by Matthias and he's
going to be close to the first down as he
gets bumped out of bounds by the way they've also no,
I thought they changed quarterback his jerseys just clean on

(48:22):
the backside. Sorry about that. That is Braden Gregory on
the pass and the pass to Eli Matthias, and he
is going to be bumped out of bounds short of
the first down. Only got a yard up to the nineteen.

Speaker 5 (48:36):
You're not only playing the defense, you're also playing the field. Yeah,
They're trying to find any way they can to get
the ball and at a spot where they can actually
run their offense.

Speaker 2 (48:46):
Third down at about two for East Hardy, single receiver
the right, two to the near side, they will hand
it off to stradom and running hard off the right side,
and he's going to push his way ahead. Difficult to
tell if he made it looks like he got to
the twenty. If he only got to the twenty, indeed
he did, that's a one yard pickup and it's gonna
be fourth and a yard. You know, East Hardy, that's

(49:07):
a dangerous position. You don't you hate to punt the
ball away. You're getting a good push up front, but man,
getting one yard at your own twenty yard line against
this tucker down in defense because and.

Speaker 4 (49:19):
You know what, if they were in the same spot
of the field on this end near us, I'd say
go for it, but where that ball spoted.

Speaker 6 (49:25):
That looks like it's really loose.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
Right now exactly, so they will punt the football away.
That is Caden Barrett has the snap, end over end kick.
It's gonna bounce one way, go the other way, and
then it is gonna be picked up by Kaysmore. He's
got it at the forty, breaks a tackle, forty five,

(49:47):
fifty forty five, forty thirty five down the far sideline,
thirty twenty five, twenty, he's to the fifteen, to the ten,
to the five, to the end zone. It is a touchdown.
Ford Tucker counts and then a flag comes in at
the end, so I am not sure what the flag was.

(50:08):
He broke tackles all the way down the field, and
as he crossed the goal line, a flag went flying
into the air, So I'm not sure unless he said something.

Speaker 4 (50:18):
I'm gonna say that the official maybe thought that he
was doing a somersault into the end zone, but I
think he got tripped in the somersault prevented him from
diving and having that knee touchdown.

Speaker 5 (50:27):
I don't think it was a top man. It means
you should find to extend to get in the end zone.
And got hit as he was extending and the defender
actually flipped him into the end.

Speaker 6 (50:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (50:34):
I don't think it was a tawning at all. But again,
we're not down there, you know, we're waiting.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
The officials are having a discussion. As it stands, it's
a sixty two yard kickoff return for the touchdown or
excuse me, sixty seven yards, and it is going to
be unsportsmanlike conduct against the touchdown is good, and so
they call it unsportsmanlike conduct against Tucker County.

Speaker 6 (51:01):
They'll enforce it.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
On the kick off.

Speaker 6 (51:02):
It looks like yes, right, okay, it was hard to tell.

Speaker 5 (51:05):
I mean, it happened on the far side, but that
was kind of a bank bank play. It could have
been a summrssault. But at the same time, it looked
like a defender actually had kind of helped him into
the summersault.

Speaker 6 (51:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (51:14):
I agree with you, Den. I don't think he did
that on purpose. If he did, I'm impressed.

Speaker 2 (51:18):
Now it's the far corner, so it is almost impossible
for us to tell nine twenty four to go in
the first half. Twelve nothing Tucker County two point conversion
coming up. They'll hand it off to Jared Real. He
spins into the end zone and the two point conversion
is good. Nine minutes, twenty four seconds to go until halftime.
Tucker County fourteen East Hardy Nothing. This presentation of Tucker

FDIC, Miss Melissa and the at Work Network weekdays one
till six. On ninety four point seven w ELK.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
A sixty yard punt return touchdown by Reed Kysimore and
then a two point conversion was good fourteen nothing here
Mountain Lions with nine twenty four left to play. And
then don't forget we have the penalty on the kickoff here.

Speaker 2 (52:41):
So they will bank that up. Get help with your
college tuition from the Western Virginia Army National Guard. For
more information, go to national Guard dot com. Play on football,
Tucker County leading fourteen to nothing here in Parsons are
coverage presented. I'm a tiki cole nine minutes, twenty four
seconds to go, and yeah, so we went back and
kind of looked at it and it was hard to

(53:03):
tell kind of where he picked that up, but I
think we the consensus amongst all of us about the
forty yard line, so about a sixty yards return.

Speaker 5 (53:10):
Well, and again, what a difference that holding penalty on
East Hardy earlier made this ballgame. Tucker County gets the ball, they.

Speaker 2 (53:15):
Score it, definitely swung it the other way. Now you're
down two scores. Now here is the approach. It is
a line drive kick scooped up in the mud at
the thirty yard line across the thirty five flags coming
down again. And I think we're going to have another
penalty on East Hardy on a kickoff because You could
hear people here on this sideline screaming about holding and

(53:40):
so a fairly you know, short kickoff, got a decent
return out of it ahead to about the thirty six
yard line, but a hole might be bringing it back.
It is a hold against East Hardy.

Speaker 4 (53:50):
Yeah, penalties right now, killing the East Hardy And I'm
sure coach Worndor is not real thrilled about that. You
can see him down there on the sideline with his
clipboard writing some things down.

Speaker 5 (53:59):
It'll be a definite emphasis in the locker room in
halftime for sure.

Speaker 2 (54:02):
Yeah, yeah, definite penalty. So they had it at the
thirty six it looked like, and they will move the
ball back waiting on the official spot, maybe the twenty side,
twenty five, twenty six. He's walking around there, he goes
snow still officially call that the twenty six. So first
down and ten nine to nineteen to go, opening half

(54:23):
fourteen to nothing. Tucker County on top. Winner of this
one will take on the Pendleton County. Snap comes back,
they hand it off to Strawtterer when he starts to
the right, comes back to the left and is finally
shoved down. Lots going on here, on the near side
between East Hardy and Tucker County, blocking going on and

(54:43):
arms flailing, and they end up getting about a three
yard gain out of it up to the twenty nine
yard line.

Speaker 6 (54:50):
Yeah, and again.

Speaker 4 (54:51):
You know most first round playoff games, you don't see
a lot of teams that you're seeing in the agar season.
These two teams know each other real well, there's gonna
be a lot of bad blood down there.

Speaker 6 (54:59):
This is a rival.

Speaker 5 (55:01):
Well, you got to contain that as well. Both coaches
have to get that in under control. The last thing
you need is for that to dictate what's going to
happen in this game.

Speaker 2 (55:08):
Right. You want energy, you want focused, you don't want
anything that's going to get you a penalty. Second down,
and they hand it off to Stratterman for East Hardy.
He bounces it to the outside, spins off the tackle.
He's actually slung forward about the thirty four yard line,
so it will be positive yard age of about five
yards and it puts East Hardy in a situation where
they're looking at a third down and call it two.

Speaker 4 (55:31):
Yeah, and East Hardy here again, you don't want to
get behind too far. You just give up the big
punt return touchdown. This is almost four down territory here
early in the game, because if you get down twenty
to this Tucker County team, you're probably not coming back.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
They do control the clock, and if you go back
and look at this game, the entire twelve minutes of
the first quarter, each team only had the ball once.
East Hardy had it for six and a half minutes,
and then Tucker County scored as time expired. Third down
and about two snap comes back. Braiden Gregory. He's got
the first down and more across the forty and is

(56:04):
brought down at the forty one maybe forty two yard line.
East Hardy needed a first down. They got a first down,
and the Cougars moved the chains.

Speaker 4 (56:12):
Yeah, Gregory, he's now as three carries that goes on,
give him three yards. We got a couple of sacks
and things like that, but he's already right now in
ninety eight yards of offense, sixty eight of it through
the air, only ten yards rushing right now.

Speaker 5 (56:23):
Most importantly, you move those chains, keep his Tucker County
offense off the field.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Seven twenty five to go in the first half, fourteen nothing,
Tchucker County on top East Hardy moving right to left
far side hash mark three receivers near side, single to
the far side. Braiden Gregory has it pass over to
the near side. It is caught working his way ahead
close to the fifty yard line. On the reception is
Neemiah Graham and he is down. I think they're gonna

(56:55):
put him maybe right on the fifty or note a
little bit short at the forty nine yard So it's
a seven yard pass and catch, and you know, I
think Graham, just from what I could tell, it looked
like he wanted to bounce it outside and he lost
his footing and so he had to kind of go
the direction his body was going.

Speaker 5 (57:11):
This is late flag as well. You could hear the
East Hardy's sidelines screaming for a face mask. I actually
saw it from up here. It was a quick face mask.
It was a grab and let go. Let's see if
they call it.

Speaker 2 (57:20):
Oh they did not. They called an unsportsmanlike conduct against
East Hardy.

Speaker 5 (57:27):
Yeah, you could see the Tucker defender and get his
hands on the face mask for a brief second let go.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
So I'm not sure what was said. I'm not sure
if it was called on the sideline the official has
a microphone, but we couldn't hear it. I'm not sure
it's functioning. But East Hardy has kind of put themselves
into a hole again as the penalty takes them back
to their own thirty five yard line, and it was
a postplay foul. So instead of second down in about four,

(57:57):
it's now second down in about seventeen. Three receivers to
the right, single to the near side. Gregory drops the snap.
Now he's just got to pick it up and run
with it. Nowhere to go. He is stacked up, picked
up and gently laid on the ground. Good job by Tucker.
County actually had him picked up in a body slam
position and they could have gotten that fifteen yards back.

(58:20):
Very smartly laid him gently to the ground so nobody
got hurt.

Speaker 6 (58:24):
Yeah, right now penalties are killing. He's tardy.

Speaker 5 (58:26):
They got sixty four yards of penalty yards. Well again
we talked about the footing. There's been more issues with
the ball control. I mean, the snaps haven't been very good.
The ball Hendley hasn't been very good.

Speaker 2 (58:39):
So Gregory takes it ahead. It's only a one yard gain.
It's third down and sixteen for East Hardy. Three receivers right,
single to the left. They're on their own thirty six
yard line. Gregory has the snap time in the pocket,
fires it across the middle. Pass is caught diving ahead
across the fifty to about the forty nine yard line.
Nice catch there by Cayden Barrett. It's gonna be fourth

(59:02):
down in short and you know, I almost think, and
we've talked about it, you do not want to get
behind with Tucker County by three scores. I almost think
with a fourth and one in Tucker County territory at
their forty nine, you might maybe want to consider this.

Speaker 5 (59:18):
If it's me, I'm going for it. I don't think
it's a question.

Speaker 4 (59:21):
Yeah, I don't either with the big quarterback either. I
think you're gonna put Gregory again. I say it under center,
but he'll probably not be under center.

Speaker 2 (59:28):
It looks like you're correct, my friend, Tucker County four lineman.
The two linebackers cheating up tight. Two receivers near side,
single to the far side. Gregory keeps it, fires the pass.
It is caught across the forty thirty five thirty twenty five,
diving ahead to the twenty yard line. Another great catch
by Cayden Baron and East Hardy gutsy call throwing the

(59:49):
ball on fourth down in the yard but it pays
off as Tucker County was planning on the run.

Speaker 4 (59:55):
Yeah, twenty eight yard passing catch there on that play
gets it down or out there twenty one yard line.
It gets right on the edge of the red zone.
East Hardy end business right now here late in this
first half action.

Speaker 5 (01:00:06):
You also build some momentum off that play as well.
So with five minutes to go here in the first half,
let's see if they can punch it in and put
some points on the board.

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Yea, that East Hardy crowd here on this sideline erupted.
Big play and now it's first down and ten at
the Tucker County twenty one yard line. Snap comes back,
they hand it off to Stratum and breaks a tackle,
keeps his legs driving. He is inside of the ten
yard line down to about the nine yard line. So
a big run there. And you can tell the difference

(01:00:36):
in the speed of this East Hardy team from playing
on the right side of the field over by the
scoreboard where it's muddy, it's now shaded. And then they
got into the sunshine and the grass and they bust
it down to the ten yard line where it's first
in goal.

Speaker 6 (01:00:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
Right now, you can see that this side of the field,
greg is a lot better footing. It looks like other
than the far side of the field.

Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
Two receivers near side, single to the far side, first
and goal at the ten yard line, handoff Strotterman weaving
in and out of traffic. He is going to be hit.
Dosey dote around and slammed down back at the nine
yard line. It is a one yard gain and east
Hardy is still on the move.

Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
He's already trying to run this ball up the middle.
You know that little little screen pass they ran with
a big twenty nine yard carrier right there to.

Speaker 6 (01:01:25):
Cayden Barrett.

Speaker 4 (01:01:26):
I think that's a nice little player right now here
to this fareside or this short side of.

Speaker 6 (01:01:30):
The field on this side.

Speaker 5 (01:01:31):
Absolutely take advantage of it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Oh yeah, clock rolling under four minutes to go here
and the opening half, Tucker County with the lead fourteen
to nothing, over east Hardy. East Hardy looks at it.
Second and goal from the nine quarterback. Keep Braden Gregory
nowhere to go and he'll be hit at the line
of scrimmage brought down no gain on the play. It

(01:01:57):
is now third down and go from the nine. Oh,
that actually wasn't Gregory in a game. That was Barrett
that took the direct snap. Gregory just came back into
the ball game. Oh, thank you very much for that yell.

Speaker 10 (01:02:08):
Like you mentioned, they tried to test that middle with
just nothing doing.

Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
I was distracted. Jed Drenning, of course, who does sideline
reporting for the WVU during the broadcast, is from Tucker County.
He just came up to the booth and I'm like, oh,
that's Jet Drenning. So third down and goal, Gregory back
in there, Stradoman and is the tailback. Two receivers to
the left, two to the right. On third and goal
from the nine. Gregory has it looks fires the pass

(01:02:32):
over to the far sideline, making the catch and getting
spun down before he could get there. Dayton Dove, the sophomore,
He's going to get to the four yard line, and
it is now fourth and goal at the four, and
we've got an injury on the field. Looks like I
can't tell it is it's one of the East Hardy players.

(01:02:54):
In fact, that is Dove on the reception. He got
pinball down and he is injured. It's good to have

plan dot com. So we are here in Tucker County,

(01:03:16):
the playoffs going on. Coming up at halftime, we'll kind
of review the playoffs. We do know whoever wins this game.
If it is Tucker County, they will host Pendleton County
next weekend, whether it be Friday night or Saturday. By
the way, there is the expectation of more snow next weekend.
If East Hardy would come back and win this, then

(01:03:38):
they will travel down to Franklin to take on Pendleton
County and the Wildcats. So really playoff football right now.
You've got Independence and James Monroe kind of battling right now.

Speaker 6 (01:03:52):
Yeah, I think I saw the game starts at four.

Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
Yeah, it's four o'clock this afternoon. And the winner of
that game, if it's Independence, they will host Philip Barber
and if it is James Monroe, then the Mavericks will
make their way up to Phillippy on paper and having
and being familiar with both teams. That feel like Independence

(01:04:15):
has definitely got a leg up in that game, which
means Philip Barber will be traveling next weekend. But you
know what, it doesn't matter in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:04:23):
Right, big win last say by coach Melly, their first
home playoff game in school history. Congrats of those fellows.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Absolutely big crowd on hand over there, Brian Bibby and
Jeff Rodgers on the call on WD and E AM.
So here we go. Now, fourth down and goal for
East Hardy from the Tucker County four yard line. Cougar's
trail in this one, fourteen to nothing, tow forty eight
to go. Snow comes back to Gregory, floats the pass

(01:04:52):
over the head of the intended receiver. He had to
go down scoop the ball up out of the mud
and then he had a wh open receiver in Sean Vodkin,
but he had to rush the throw because he had
to pick the ball up and it is incomplete.

Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
Yeah, And there was another drive where they didn't have
Gregory in back there. They had Barrett again back in there.
They're switching up a little bit, I think is a
different look. And again it's hard to tell because you
can't see anything on the back of Gregor or Braden
or Barrett's jersey because it's completely.

Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Mudd Yeah, the number. So that was Barrett or check
me Barrett that threw that ball. Yeah, we had to
go scoop it up. Now from their own four yard line.
Tucker County with the football, Jared Reel breaks it outside
and he pushes his way ahead close to the ten
yard line, put him down at about the nine. So

(01:05:47):
Tucker County, leading by two touchdowns, starts out at their
own four yard line and then on first down, Jared
Reel picks up positive yardage of five yard and make
it second down in five.

Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
Yeah, and I think if you're eased heard right now,
you're trying to knock the ball out. And then again,
if you're on Tucker County side with two minutes to play,
I don't think Coach Rap's gonna be in any hurry.

Speaker 5 (01:06:08):
Knocked the ball up, but you better secure the ball
ball carry as well, because Jared will Will break one.

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Marks up under center. He is gonna play action drops
backfires at looking deep down the field at is in complete.
Two defenders surrounding Garrett Willfong and the flag comes in
from the back judge pass interference and you know what,
I think that's probably a good call just because one
of the defenders was behind him, the one in front

(01:06:34):
of him kind of had him by the jersey.

Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
Yeah, they got grabbed him. I think they both kind
of grabbed him. You saw two flags on the play.
It's gonna move the ball out fifteen yards, gonna get
Tucker County out to about the twenty three.

Speaker 6 (01:06:44):
But it was a good call on that play.

Speaker 5 (01:06:46):
That's a great offensive call as well, because you got
a receiver in Garrett.

Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Wilf On at six y four.

Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
Throw it up, let him go get it. I was
able to get the contacts, so either way it was
gonna work out.

Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Moves the ball ahead to the twenty three yard line,
stops the clock just under two minutes to go. I'm
then at fifty eight in the first half, fourteen to nothing.
Tucker County on top of east hardy power run formation, marks,
hands it off, Jared Reel bounces it outside. He's got
the twenty five to thirty, breaks a tackle thirty five

(01:07:18):
and has slung out of bounds just shy of the
forty yard line. Put him out at about the thirty
eight yard line. It is a fifteen yard pickup for
Jared Reel in a first half.

Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
Yeah, just what Demanian was talking about. You know, if
if Jared Reel gets out, he can bust one. Gonna
give thirty eight yards there good fifteen yards on that play.
Jared now eight carries forty yards. That's five yards of pop.
Good rushing for him early in this game.

Speaker 5 (01:07:42):
What the key is, He's a powerful back, but he's small,
so it's hard to go low on him.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Yeah, he's like five to five, I mean, but he's
so fast. He's been fast since he was a tenth grader,
and he's getting faster. First and ten for Tucker County
run formation handed off to Jared Reel again gets in
behind that big offense line, pushing tacklers across the forty
ahead to the forty three yard line. It's a five

(01:08:08):
yard pickup, makes it second down and five. Clock continues
to turn here in the opening half a minute and
a half to go until the break. Fourteen to nothing.
Mountain Lions on top of East Hardy are present. Are
presentation of this Tucker County playoff game, brought to you
by Matiki Cole.

Speaker 6 (01:08:29):
Tucker just taking their time.

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Greg two receivers to the right, two to the left,
moving left to right. Here in the second quarter, they
handed off to Jared Reel, tried to spread them out,
but you know what, East Hardy's defense ready for that,
and they will stop him as he gets across the
forty five to the forty six yard line. It is
a three yard pickup and I think we've got another

(01:08:54):
injury on East Hardy. Defender slow to get up, but
he is indeed up, looks like he is okay. That
is Oh my gosh, that's a big young man. That
is big. Sean O'Callahan six three two ninety nine. We've
got a time out on the field with a minute

(01:09:15):
and one second to go. When it comes to your

Speaker 4 (01:09:33):
Power's back on. The power is back on. Power's back
on at least the milk Creek. Well, that is wonderful.

Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
Well, that means we can finally get Damanuel out of
the press box at half we'll send him down on
the field at half time.

Speaker 6 (01:09:45):
We should get him out of our way.

Speaker 5 (01:09:46):
He's trying to get rid of me. I understand, dagling
Elkins Gas, I got it.

Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
So a minute, one second to go, Greg Whyge Mike
to Pascal Dmanuel Smith here in Tucker County back at
Master Control, Grand Mixed mess B Brad Workman and Megan
Simmons producing the game this afternoon here on ninety four
point seven. W elk, if the power is back on
in Mill Creek. Hopefully they got it back on up
at the transmitter site and we'll be back to full power.

(01:10:15):
We apologize for that, but not our fault. We didn't
do it all right. Third down and about three for
Chucker County Power run formation, moving left right from their
own forty six yard line handoff, Jared Reel breaks a tackle,
scoots into the secondary, and he gets across the east
hardy forty five, brought down at about the forty three

(01:10:36):
maybe forty four yard line. It is a first down.
Put him at the forty four As the Mountain Lions
are moving with under a minute to go until halftime,
leading by two touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (01:10:47):
Yeah, starting to move a little quicker too.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Three receivers near side, single to the far side, marks
out of the pistol, snap goes over the head of Mars.
He's got to scoop it up. At the forty five,
he's in trouble. He is slammed down. What a nice
job by East Hardy's Caden Barrett blasting in and getting
Samuel Marx by the back of the jersey. Basically reached

(01:11:12):
out and grabbed him right between the numbers on the
back of the jersey, just slamming him to the ground.
Got up very happy as he should be because it's
a sack back on Tucker County side of the field
to the forty three.

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Yeah, thirteen yard loss on the play, and that would
probably is going to end a quarter and a half,
and I think they're gonna go in with a fourteen
to nothing Mountain Lion lead.

Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
Greg Indeed they are, and that takes us to halftime.
So it has been a first half full of bubbled
snaps and penalties and big plays and small plays. But
as it stands, it is halftime here in Parsons, West Virginia,
the Tucker County Mountain Lions leading East Tardy fourteen to

(01:11:55):
nothing at the break are coverage presented by Matiki Cole,
keeping the lights on since nineteen seventy seven and proud
supporters of Tucker County Mountain Lion Sports. We're keeping an
eye down here, Dove. The receiver is actually being He's
all out of the pads and looks like he's being
helped to the EMTs maybe or the ambulance over on

(01:12:18):
the far side. They're going to get him checked out.
Looks like it is a right angle injury. So we're
sorry to see that for the receiver, Dove. We'll keep
an eye on that and see how he does. So
the teams are making their way to the locker room.
We'll take a break. When we come back, we'll recap
the first half and get you ready for halftime festivities.
It's halftime Round one of the Class Single A Playoffs,

Let's Go Places, News, Weather, sports, and Elkin's Greatest Hits
with Greg White weekday mornings six to ten on ninety
five four point seven w E LJ.

Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
Welcome back to Parsons. We are at halftime Tucker County
Mountain Line Playoff Football presented by him Matiki Cole, Greg White,
Mike de Pascoal, Dmaniel Smith in the booth for now,
Dmanuel be roaming the sidelines in the second half. Is
the powers back on. We've got our transmitter back to
full power. So let's talk a little bit about this game.
We all knew coming into this that, you know, old

(01:14:27):
conditions were going to be a problem. One I don't
think I expected is the difficulty the quarterbacks and the
centers are having with the exchange, both teams playing out
of the pistol. You think it's the weather affecting that,
or just maybe nerves.

Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
You know, it could be the fact that they haven't
played in three weeks. Greg, you know, there's a lot
of timing disrupt gets disrupted. You know, you know we
saw that at Pocahontas, you know, with the Tiger's Valley
team where you know, hadn't played in the week and
your timing was off. And I think that's what's happening
right now. Tomming is just offen And don't get you know,
we talk about the footing, But that ball is sitting
in the mud too, and it's got it's damp, so

(01:15:05):
when the center snapping it back, it might have a
little bit of do and stuff on and just slipping
out of their hands that they're not used to.

Speaker 5 (01:15:11):
Right. We've seen multiple, you know, snaps right in the
most muddiest areas of the field, and it is a
tough center exchange to the quarterback, especially out of the pistol,
like you were saying, But even a couple of times
we've seen the center go to snap the ball and
it literally dribbles back to the quarterback. So there's a
lot of stuff going on with that football and the
mud down there. So I think I think the field

(01:15:33):
conditions have a lot to do with that.

Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
And you know, we we mentioned too if you looked
at our right, you know there's a lot of mud
spots showing up well in that set. Later in that
second or first first half, the field moved down to
the left hand side of the field, and now those
mud conditions are starting to show up. This turf is
just coming up pretty quickly right away as the kids
are on it and playing on it, and I think

(01:15:54):
that's going to be an issue not only for this game,
but if Tucker County wins, that might be an issue
for the of the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (01:16:01):
So this Tucker County.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
Team, you know, we look at this game that you know.
I think the other thing too, I think you know
and you mentioned it, we both actually talk we've all
talked about it in the first half. But how frustrating
do we think it is for coach Orndorf and his
staff that you know, you know, it's kind of a
thing we talk about during the regular season, but you
take one step forward, two step back. Those penalties are

(01:16:25):
absolutely killing you right now, don't you think.

Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
Yeah, six for seventy nine yards, and you know, and
the sad thing is, other than the punt return, East
Hardy's pretty much doing whatever they want right now in
this game. They've dominated time of possession. You know, they've
got more total yards in Tucker County. They're just like
I said, you shooting themselves in the foot.

Speaker 5 (01:16:47):
Well exactly, I mean, and I go back to the
first half early there, one holding call may be the
difference in the outcome of this game.

Speaker 10 (01:16:54):
I mean, it's fourteen point twenty absolute.

Speaker 5 (01:16:56):
They're driving, you know, they're driving, They're inside of the
red zone of the Mountain Lions. You have that holding
call that ends up turning into what third and seventeen?
Third and eighteen. You get nothing out of it because
you try a field goal in the muddiest part of
the field, you know, and the kicker come up short.
Tucker County scores and it's you know, it's the momentum
from that alone is the difference in this bulky you know.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
And we won't get too much into it now, but
I mean, really, if you're the coaching staff, let's start
with East a Tardy. If you're the coaching staff of
East Tardy, what kind of adjustments are you trying to
make or are you just basically kind of preaching to
them play smart football and hold on to the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:17:32):
Yeah, I mean offensively, I don't know you're making many
adjustments at all. I mean, you're running a football, you're
throwing a football really well, i'd work on the center exchange.
But you know, you got to talk to them about, hey,
let's play smart. Let's quit doing things that are going
to diminish what we're doing. Well, you know, six penalties
to Tucker County zero and that's not a good ratio.

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
You know, and I think Strongerman is running the ball well,
but I think they have had a lot of success
throwing the football East Hardy has, you know that, particularly
go back to that fourth and two play when really
everybody in the stands and everybody on the Tucker County
side thought for sure it was going to be a
running play.

Speaker 4 (01:18:14):
Yeah, they got one hundred and twenty four yards in
the air forty four on the ground. But you know, again,
I think they're doing a good job of using that
run to set up the pass as well, even though
it's not a lot of running yards. I mean, what
do you think the manie wan and they're not getting
a huge chunk plays, but they're running the ball well
enough to set up the pass play well exactly.

Speaker 5 (01:18:31):
I mean, what you want to do if you're East
Hardy average three point four yards but carry if you
can move the sticks, you know, to keep that Tucker
County offense off the field and try to get yourself
back in this ball game. The biggest part for me,
like you said earlier, you've got to cut down on
penalties because you can't keep shooting yourself in the foot,
especially in playoff football. This is the one had done
at this point, and every round is going to get

(01:18:52):
tougher and tougher as you go. So if you want
to continue to play ball, that has to cease.

Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
Yeah, So the sun's kind of going down a little
bit obviously behind us when we got here, right around
to twelve thirty this afternoon sun completely bathing or bathing
the field here now from about the forty yard line
going towards the scoreboard, so about sixty yards it's all shaded.

(01:19:17):
Now you've got a little bit of sun over in
the corner. How does that affect this field and the
field conditions moving into the later hours of the afternoon.

Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
I think it's just going to continue to get slick
and slick and slick. I mean, you're gonna see the
lights turn on here soon, you know, as we get
later into the day, the dude's got start going to
set and the temperature is gonna start dropping. I just think,
you know the other thing is is not only is
it gonna make the field condition harder. You know, East
Hardy's throwing the football well, and you know we've all
played football out in the snow, we've all played it
out in the cold weather. That's gonna make the ball harder,

(01:19:50):
and you know your hands are getting colder. It's gonna
make it harder to catch and receive the football as well.

Speaker 5 (01:19:55):
Feel position to me is going to be a very
big part of this as well, because the negative. Remember
they're gonna flip, so East Hardy is you know, now
going to go the opposite direction. So what does Tucker
County do you know with the ball? You know, considering
that they're going to be going, you know, in the
good parts of the field to where now East Hardy
is going to be coming towards the end of the
field that's not so good. So what do you do

(01:20:16):
when you get inside the forty yard line on the
Tucker County side of here? He's hardy because there's a
lot of field there that's not real good. And on
the opposite side of that, you've got Tucker County that's
going to have pretty decent, you know, field conditions as
they have the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
Indeed, so we are at halftime here in Parsons, Tucker

at some scores from high school football so far.

Speaker 6 (01:23:17):
Yeah, let's recap the first round here. Starting a quad a.

Speaker 4 (01:23:19):
Number one, Martinsburg took care of number sixteen Parkersburg seventy
seven to seven. Number two Spring Mills did their park,
taking out Hedgesville fifty six nothing. Number three Jefferson took
care of Cavin Midland forty eight twenty eight. Wheeling Park
took care of Musselman forty three to nothing. Huntington all
doubled up University fifty six to twenty eight. Number six

(01:23:41):
Hurricane and George Washington played a whale of a game
down there in the Canaw Valley. Hurricane won that by
a point, fourteen to thirteen. Actually, that was the closest
game in all of the playoff actions so far. Morgantown
took care of Woodrow Wilson thirty five to ten, and
number eight Parkersburg played a great game with Washington twenty
four seventeen. The quarterfinal matchups are as followed. Number eight

(01:24:03):
Parkersburg South will travel too number ten Number one Martinsburg.
That game will be Friday at seven o'clock. Number seven
Morgantown will travel to number two Spring Mills. That game
will be Friday at one point thirty. Number six Hurricane
will travel to number three Jefferson. That game will be
Saturday at one thirty. I don't know that there's any
two further schools in West Virginia than Hurricane and Jefferson.

(01:24:27):
Number five Huntington will travel to Northern Panhandle to play
Wheeling Park at the Island. That game will be Friday
at four o'clock. That is Class quad A in class
trip away. All these games were finals ever played either
Friday or Saturday. Number one Princeton all over Hampshire sixty
three to nine. Number two Fairmont Senior Point Pleasant was
number fifteen thirty five six. That was Polar bears Bridgeport

(01:24:50):
took care of rival RCB sixty five to nothing. Herbert
Hoover took care of Elkins forty nine to seven o
kill twenty seven Lewis County six nightro for one one
Shady Spring seven. That game ended early and we might
get into that later. Number seven Spring Valley fifty four
the b's of East Fairmont. Six North Marion was able
to handle Ripley forty seven to ten, and the matchups

(01:25:12):
for this following weekend. Number eight North Marion will travel
down to Princeton, who's undefeated. That again be Saturday at
four o'clock. Number seven Spring Valley will travel up to
Fairmont Senior. I think that's gonna be a great ballgame.
That'll be Friday at seven o'clock. Number six Nitro will
travel up to Bridgeport. Think that'll be another good game.
That game Saturday at four o'clock. And then Oak Hill

(01:25:32):
and Herbert Hoover will play at Herbert Hoover. That game
will be Friday at seven pm. That's all in triple A.
In double A, all of these are finals, with the
exception of one game. Number one Frankfurt forty five West
Side Nothing, Number two Ron County thirty five, Chapmanville fourteen,
Number fourteen James Monroe and number three Independence. That game
kicks off in about an hour Williamstown all Over Moorefield

(01:25:55):
forty seven and twenty one, Wheeling Catholic Central forty one,
Nicholas County twenty, Philip Barber twenty eight, Clay County seventeen,
Scott forty Wayne twelve, Bluefield twenty in South Harrison eighteen
another good game. That game was not actually at Bluefield,
they played that at Princeton. So the matchups in the
quarterfinals for Triple A. Number eight Bluefield will travel to Frankfurt.

(01:26:19):
No date in time on that yet. Number seven Scott
will play at Rohan County. Philip Barber will either travel
to Independence if they win or host James Monroe. Wheeling
Saxons Catholic Central will travel down to Williamstown. We do
know when that game is. That can be Friday at
four o'clock, and I think that'll be a great game
in Triple A in Singway, all of these are finals

(01:26:41):
well number one tug Valley forty eight, Tulsa eight, Wihama
sixty eight, Madonna thirteen, Cameron sixty two, Valley, what'sell Nothing,
Dodger to twenty eight, Work County eight, Sherman thirty, Tyler
Consolidated fourteen, Pendleton County forty four, meadow Bridge thirty, and
then Petersburg took Riverview forty nine to eight. And here

(01:27:04):
are some matchups for the quarterfinals. Number eight, Petersburg will
travel to Tuck Valley. That game will be Saturday at
four o'clock. Pendleton County will either travel to Tucker County
or they will host East Hardy. Sherman is playing Atwahama
and Doddridge and Cameron will play each other Friday night
at Cameron at seven pm. So Greg, that rounds out

(01:27:26):
the high school playoff action. You know, we got two
games in action right now. One here this game right
now with Tucker County leading fourteen to nothing with about
five minutes left in half, and then Independence and James
Monroe played later.

Speaker 6 (01:27:41):
Let's go through the NFL scoreboard real quick. Now.

Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
I really don't want to do this. I just checked him.
Oh well, we should, we should.

Speaker 6 (01:27:51):
Apparently. Apparently the Dolphins are playing really well. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:27:55):
Vikings. Vikings are up seventeen to ten over the Bears.
Lions are taking care of the Colts twenty one to six.
Ooh ooh, we'll skip that score. The Buccaneers are beating
Giants thirty to nothing. The Cowboys Commanders are playing ten
to nine, Chiefs twenty to sixteen over the Panthers, Titans

(01:28:15):
twenty three seventeen right now over the Texans, and Greg,
I'm sorry, look away.

Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
Yeah, go ahead and do it. My wife already texted.

Speaker 4 (01:28:24):
You can see that smile way up here. The Emmanuels
Dolphins are currently killing your Patriots twenty four to nothing.
I actually get a lace relaxing weekend of football.

Speaker 6 (01:28:33):
Your bills are off. The bills are off, and the
Knoles actually won.

Speaker 4 (01:28:36):
Yesterday even though they played. I was gonna say, Kallahassee
Community College. I don't care. You know, it's a win.
We'll take them as we can get them this year.

Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
Yeah, we are at halftime here in Parsons, Tucker County
leading fourteen to nothing. Greg White, Mike to pass Winn
the booth. We've got Damanuel Smith now roaming the sidelines.
And I know you were down there kind of checking
out field conditions. Can you give us kind of an
update after they've playing on it for the first twenty
four minutes of football? What are the conditions like on

(01:29:04):
the field.

Speaker 5 (01:29:05):
Well, just like we talked about, I mean, on the
right side of the field over here where East Hardy
spent most of the first half. It's very very bad.
So the key to.

Speaker 10 (01:29:14):
Them is gonna be they're gonna be able to move
from left to right.

Speaker 5 (01:29:17):
What's gonna happen once they get past the fifty yard
line and try to get into the end zone. That's
gonna be the key for them. On the flip side
of that, Tucker County is gonna have really good fil
you know, conditions as they come from right to left
at which you know, is gonna allow them to run
their offense the way that they want to and can.
It's just gonna be a matter of what happens with

(01:29:39):
these Hardy when they cross the fifty yard line going right. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:29:43):
Indeed, so we've got about all six minutes or so,
neither team has made their way out of the locker
room yet we expect to see them out here shortly
going through the warm ups. We will take one more
break here in our halftime show. When we come back,
we'll kind of recap some stats again you ready for

(01:32:29):
gonna allow you to do that because you know, I'm
such a nice guy. So Mike Depascal, you're East hard.
He's head coach Devan Orndorf. What did you tell your
team at halftime and what's the plan for the second half.

Speaker 4 (01:32:40):
I think you told them to quick committing some of
the penalties that they committed. You know, they they played
good offensive football. They're doing the right things. They got
to finish drives. I think the key thing that they
got to talk about is finishing right now. You know,
they've got to finish those drives. They got to get
on the scoreboard. And what they got to do right
here coming out of the half is they got to
do a good job of stopping Tucker County and getting
the ball back real quick.

Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
All right, So, Dmaniel Smith put your coaching hat on.
You are the head coach Chocker County. What was your
message to your team at the half?

Speaker 5 (01:33:08):
Stay consistent, Let's continue to control the line of scrimmage
on both sides of the ball if we can, and
obviously on offense, we're gonna ride our running back and
try to get out of here with a win as
fast as possible.

Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
So just control the clock, get out of here healthy.
So and my question to you, on a personal note,
are you regretting not bringing a coat?

Speaker 5 (01:33:29):
You know what.

Speaker 10 (01:33:29):

stand by big number seventy seven, Ryan Jennings down there,
the six three three and thirty pound senior. That's a
big dude.

Speaker 10 (01:34:04):
He makes me feel like a very small human being.

Speaker 5 (01:34:07):
I'll tell you that.

Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
So we are out here, the captains are meeting. That's
Bradon Gregory and Samuel Marx, the two quarterbacks. I saw
a thing in it is social media, but it was
actually a true thing. I don't remember what team where
it was, but instead of it was a high school
football playoff game, and instead of doing the coin talls,
dah Idaho, thank you. They flew a helicopter in hovered

(01:34:31):
it over the stadium, dropped the ball, and the two
captains had to fight for the ball on whoever recovered
the ball got the got the coin tit was their
coin tolls. I think that's a great idea.

Speaker 4 (01:34:43):
Yeah, but what if your coach wants you to lose, Like,
how do you just go out there and stand?

Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
Well, all you go out there and they dropped the
ball and if you know, you don't fight for it.
I guess, But I think it just kind of added
a fun element to it.

Speaker 5 (01:34:57):
Well, with the philm conditions down here, it might take
extra time for somebody to actually possess the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
Well, the helicopter might have dried the field up a
little bit. I just point that out my whole point there,
mister on fire, mister Billy White shows Johnson down there.
But you know what, there's probably very few people listening
that are old enough to remember Billy White Shoes. Johnson
played for the Houston Oilers.

Speaker 6 (01:35:23):
Either one of you.

Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
Guys even remembering.

Speaker 5 (01:35:25):
I remember, I remember the name.

Speaker 2 (01:35:28):
He's the one that started the touchdown dance where you
kind of you know, bend the knees, kind of flex
the knees in and out. He's the one you started that. Yeah,
thank you, there it is. Yeah, that was Billy.

Speaker 6 (01:35:38):
You were talking about the eighty five Bears at lunch.

Speaker 4 (01:35:40):
No, I don't want to talk about it anymore. And well listen,
I just want to remember a lot of people forget that.
Quincy Wilson's dad was on that team.

Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
Yes he was.

Speaker 5 (01:35:47):
Otis Otis Wilson, very good linebacker. Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
Field Turf is the trusted choice for athletic fields in
West Virginia. Field Turf is a proud partner of the
wv s s A C. Se greg White, Mike to
Pascal here up top, the Manuel Smith now floating around
on the sidelines. Now, as we get ready to start
this second or third quarter of action, second half of
the action, I'm already into I'm gonta do a college

(01:36:14):
basketball game Tuesday night. I'm already in college basketball mode.

Speaker 4 (01:36:17):
Someone needs to explain to me why college basketball is
the only basketball in the world that isn't played in
four quarters.

Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
I can't answer that to twenty minute halfs though the
girls do it. Yeah they do. All right, We're ready
to go East Hardy to kick it off. It is
a squib kick to start the third quarter, and it
is quickly falling on covered up by Caden Arnold, the
sophomore wide receiver, and he will start out first down

(01:36:45):
and ten. So statistically, Mike, it looks like you would
think by the score that kind of Tucker County dominant
was dominant on offense or with the total yardage. But
really it's not too bad.

Speaker 11 (01:36:58):
No.

Speaker 4 (01:36:58):
Actually, East Hardy had forty four year Russian one hundred
and twenty four yards in the air, one hundred and
sixty eight yards all together. Tucker County thirty four yards
on the ground, sixty eight yards in the air, only
one hundred and two yards all together. But you started
to dominate a time of possession.

Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
First down and ten from their own twenty nine yard line.
Tucker County handoff running hard off the left side, goes
Jared Reel and getting hit hard one two, three East
Hardy defenders in there, led by big sixty three to
two hundred and ninety nine pounds senior Sean O'Callahan, and
real god, maybe two yards up to the thirty.

Speaker 6 (01:37:34):
Yeah, he got a little hard run there.

Speaker 4 (01:37:36):
Again, I think you know, I think what you're gonna
see out of coach rap is what you saw a
lot in the late in the second first quarter there,
first half there just slow the ball down, run the football.

Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
They've got a lead back. Actually, it's almost the Bridgeport
stick eye formation for Tucker County two lead backs Jared
Reel the tail that takes the handoff right up the middle.
Not too many places to go though. He only got
a couple of yards up to the thirty two yard line.
And I guess you know, when we talk about what

(01:38:09):
we've always called the stick eye, it's basically a eye formation.
Quarterbacks under center, and you have two full backs in
front of the tailbacks, so there are three bats. Now
they go to a more conventional Tucker County three receivers
near side, single to the far side, moving left right

(01:38:29):
on a third down and about six play action pass
to the near side, a diving attempt. It is in
complete intended for Keelan Eichelberger and Tucker County stalls on
offense on their first drive of the third quarter.

Speaker 4 (01:38:43):
Yeah, I was a little bit of a run pass
option there by Mark and he kept the football and
tried to hit Eickelberger here on the out route near
the sideline, and he just overthrew it a little bit.
It was very well defended by East Hardy and Pucker
County's got to pump the ball away and Greg this
was only their third offensive possession of the game.

Speaker 2 (01:38:58):
Yeah, man, down, I mean, you're right on the line
of scrimmage and right now it looks like East Hardy's
getting a strong push.

Speaker 5 (01:39:05):
They're getting a strong push, and only that they are
fired up down here on the sidelines. There was some
tough words at halftime, and this is the whole different
ball team right now.

Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
Here is the punt field at the thirty one yard line,
across the thirty five near side to the forty and
slammed out of bounds is Levi Price. The East Hardy
sidelines here wanted a penalty for a late hint as
he's slung him down, But I think what the officials
determined it was continuing action as they were in the

(01:39:35):
process of being slung around. But I think if you're
East Hardy, you got a little momentum right now.

Speaker 6 (01:39:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:39:42):
East Tardy's got a little bit of momentum right now.
They've got the ball on Tucker County's forty five. They've
only got about fifty five yards to go right now,
and they've been playing well on offense. We'll see what happens.

Speaker 5 (01:39:52):
Yeah, there's some energy down here.

Speaker 2 (01:39:53):
Yeah, they're on their own side of my fault. East Hardy.
First down and ten. Gregory is the quarterback. Stratterman who
had a pretty solid first half in there at tailback.
Now'll hand it to Strawoman. He starts right, slips and
then is grabbed by the front of the jersey and
slammed down. He'll get back to the line of scrimmage,

(01:40:16):
nowhere to go. And it's that footing that is causing
problems right now.

Speaker 4 (01:40:19):
Yeah, they're on that bad side of the field right now.
And you saw him as soon as he tried to
make that cut, his left foot slipped out from underneath
of him and then he got snowed under by a
couple Tucker County defensive linemen.

Speaker 2 (01:40:30):
Ten minutes to go, third quarter, fourteen to nothing. Tucker
County on top of East Hardy. They played back during
the regular season on September thirteenth, Tucker County got a
twenty to seven win East Hardy. On second down and
ten two receivers to the right, single to the left,
snap back Gregory looking deep down the field looking for

(01:40:51):
Levi Price. It is in complete. Nice coverage there by
Tucker County's Red Kays of Warren em Manuel again right
in front of you. Kaizamore step four step with Levi
Price and didn't even have to make contact.

Speaker 10 (01:41:05):
No, that was great defense by Kaisimore.

Speaker 5 (01:41:07):
He was step for step with the receiver and I
should turn back to locate the football. So that's just
a great defensive play by a good defensive back.

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
Yeah, it was a step for step. I mean, great coverage.
Good play call too. You know, Price is a good receiver.
But they got Kaisamore had Kaisamore guarding him. Third down
and ten, three receivers right, single to the left, bring
Gregory time in the pocket. Now it breaks down, drops back,
he just losts the pass deep down the field. It
is in complete, looking for Levi Price, this time on

(01:41:35):
the other side of the field, who was running down
there along with Chase rex Road, and it is incomplete. Again.
They get fourth down and ten for east Ardy.

Speaker 6 (01:41:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:41:47):
I think that's gonna be one of those plays that
Gregory's gonna look back on film and me like, oh what,
maybe I should have just kept it because I think
he had plenty of road to run for that first down.
As it looks like East Hardy's bringing out the punk
team here.

Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
So both teams finding success in the first half. Second
half opening drives stalled out and Barrett to kick it
away to read kaisamore kais of war Stams at about
his own seventeen yard line, fourth down and ten snap
is back kick line drive, end over, end over to
the far side line inside of the twenty touchdown at

(01:42:25):
the sixteen yard line, first down and ten for East
Hardy at their own sixteen or check me for Tucker
County at their own sixteen yard line with nine twenty
one to go. So again, you know we talk about it.
It's that field position now for Tucker County. Right now,

(01:42:45):
I think d'manuel, you'll know this over on the far side,
that's probably the best part of the field.

Speaker 6 (01:42:50):
Absolutely, That's what I was talking about.

Speaker 5 (01:42:52):
Tucker County is going to have really good field position
as far as footing from hell to get to about
the forty of the opp's side.

Speaker 10 (01:43:00):
But they just have to take advantage of it.

Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
First down and ten for Tucker County at their own
sixteen yard line. Marks out of the pistol, three receivers
near side, single to the far side, play action they
want the screen. It comes here to the near side
to Eichelberger and his feet went out from under him
at the nineteen.

Speaker 4 (01:43:20):
Yeah, he just caught that ball and he tried to
make that cut and you saw Greg he just slipped
and fell.

Speaker 6 (01:43:25):
No one was near him.

Speaker 4 (01:43:26):
It's gonna go for about a two two and a
half yard game, maybe a three yard game. But really
he had some good blocking out front of him, just
couldn't do anything as he just slipped.

Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
Put him at the nineteen yard line. It'll be second
down and about a long seven to eight for Tucker County.
Ball now on the near side hashmark. They'll send Garrett
will Fong as the lone receiver up top three to
the nearer side. That's the short side of the field,
real in the backfield. They play action to him, pump

(01:43:55):
fake looking deep down the field for Garrett will Fong
and it is in complete. Nice coverage over on the
far side by Christian bowsermen of East Hardy Stride for Stride.
Now they're talking.

Speaker 4 (01:44:09):
Yeah again you know, rivalry game. These guys are gonna
talk to each other. They're going to see each other
here on the hardwood and here in a couple of
weeks too.

Speaker 6 (01:44:15):
You know, these these two schools not far apart. They
really don't like each other.

Speaker 4 (01:44:19):
But you know the change in philosophy by Tucker County
right now here, trying to throw the football in these conditions,
I'm not sure about.

Speaker 2 (01:44:29):
Two receivers to the left, that's the far side of
the field. Now they'll bring two receivers to the right,
will fall in the slot. On third down and about
eight from their own nineteen yard line, Tucker County with
the football, they drive back fired across the middle. Pass
is caught by Kaizamore running laterally and then he is
slammed down right at the thirty yard line. They got

(01:44:50):
the first down, Tucker County on the pass and catch
goes for about eleven yards.

Speaker 4 (01:44:57):
Yeah, right there, nice crossing route by Cosimore on that
play getting up the first down. And you can see
as the official spot in that ball, Greg he's wiping
a lot of the mud off the field. The balls
are getting really slippery right now.

Speaker 2 (01:45:10):
Clock rolling with eight minutes to go, third quarter fourteen
to nothing. Tucker County on top note that I'll go
back to that tight run formation with a double tight
endset and the stick eye of under center's marks. He
hands it off to Jared Real, he slips in the backfield,
tries to keep going, and he just can't find his footing.

(01:45:30):
It's like watching a man walk on solid ice as
he'll get one yard to the thirty one yard line
and again Emmanuel Smith right down there on the line
of scrimmage. From up here, it looks like a struggle
for everybody.

Speaker 5 (01:45:46):
What you're seeing now is the running backs and wide
receivers kind of look down to see where they're at
as far as the mud before they try to make
a play. So that might be, you know, another mental
part of this aspect to pay attention to, because they're
actually trying to see where they're at to see what
they can do.

Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
Second down at about nine from their own thirty one
yard line, snap back pass over to Mars on the
other side. Iigelberger on the screen and he is absolutely
blown up, and then a late flag comes in. I
don't think it's going to be a result of the hit.
I think it's going to be because of the I

(01:46:24):
would be surprised, but I think he got up and
had some words and they threw a flag. It could
be taunting, but I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:46:32):
Yeah, and you know, if that is a taunting penalty,
I am official. I say that sometimes you gotta let
kids throw some emotion in the playoff game.

Speaker 2 (01:46:42):
Yeah, So they are discussing it, and again we don't
know what he said. I didn't think he was very
demonstrative as far. I mean, he jumped up, he celebrated
as he should, but you don't know what he said.
And that you know, sometimes you just you gotta play
with emotion, but you've got think about it. So they're
talking about it, and I do like that the fact

(01:47:04):
that this officiating crew has discussed several times when they've
got into what be a critical penalty, they have waived
a couple of penalties off and that's after discussion. So
it is going to be after the play unsportsmanlike conduct
against He's hardy. Yeah, so they did call it. So
again I didn't think it was demonstrative as far as

(01:47:27):
jumping up and down. You know, he got up, this pump, celebrated,
he was good, but he may have said something that
got the penalty because it did come in a few
seconds after the celebration.

Speaker 6 (01:47:38):
Yeah, it just you know, So put.

Speaker 2 (01:47:41):
The ball to forty seven yard line, make it first
down and ten for Tucker County.

Speaker 5 (01:47:49):
And now, well, now you got to pay attention to
the sideline of warning. So I think he's over here
telling the sidelines they need to calm down a little
bit because they weren't real happy with the call.

Speaker 4 (01:48:00):
There was a group of people who's standing around here
on the fence. I don't even think it was East
Hardy players or coaching. Yeah, awesome talking to fans.

Speaker 5 (01:48:06):
Yeah, there's some people right here on the fence and
that are tripping a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
Good way to say that. Tucker County has it first
down and ten at their own forty seven yard line.
Three receivers right single to the left, Marx hands it off.
Jared Ree are running hard and he is going to
be hit maybe a little shy. The fifty put him
down at the forty nine yard line, so it will
be second down and about eight.

Speaker 4 (01:48:34):
Yeah, Jared's got fifteen carries for sixty six yards. He
hasn't really broken off that big run today that we're
used to seeing, but right now.

Speaker 6 (01:48:41):
If you're Tucker County, it's not a bad thing because
the clock's rolling.

Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
Six forty five to go and the third quarter fourteen
to nothing. Tucker County on top. They have the football
second down and about eight three receivers to the right,
single to the left, pump fake by Marx. Now he's
taking the home run ball looking deep down the field,
a diving attempt. Reid kays, the more I believe on
the is the intended receiver it is, and he dove

(01:49:07):
for just could not come up with it.

Speaker 15 (01:49:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:49:09):
And Eli mathis right there in on the on the
coverage at the quarterback hitting Marks just as he threw
that football. Good heart hit by the fist as Marks
through that football.

Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
Well, and I'm not sure who the group of fans
is behind the East Hardy bench. I'm guessing maybe East
Hardy fans because they are talking to some of the players.
But what they need to realize is they could get
a penalty called on their team.

Speaker 6 (01:49:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
From the they just probably need to go sit down,
third down and long. Here is the deep pass, wide
open down the field going up and scoring the catch
one a grab by Lucas Barbe. He's a backup quarterback
and they send him down the field and he catches
it above his head, falls to the ground inside of

(01:49:58):
the twenty at the e he's tardy eighteen yard line.

Speaker 6 (01:50:02):
Yeah, wait to haul that ball in by Barb.

Speaker 4 (01:50:03):
Because a lot of high school kids when they hit
the ground on that, they lose control of the football.
He did a great job of maintaining that ball all
the way through for the thirty three yard pass and.

Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
Catch first down and ten and D'manuel Smith. He just
kind of lined up in the slot and very quietly
took off down the field on a seam route.

Speaker 5 (01:50:21):
Great route by Barb, but the patience of Mars to
let him get open and through a beautiful pass right.

Speaker 2 (01:50:30):
On the money first down and ten from the eighteen
yard line of East Hardy. Jared Real weaving in and
out of traffic, keeps his legs driving. He's inside of
the ten down to about the nine yard line. So
that momentum that East Hardy had the unsports him like
conduct penalty and then the big catch pass and catch

(01:50:51):
down there, and the momentum is now wearing black and gold.

Speaker 4 (01:50:55):
Yeah, that penalty was a big one too, because it
was bringing up third and eight on that play, and
he's already had a lot of more. But now Tucker
County has got all of it with them as it's
second and one on their nine yard on East Arty's
nine yard line, knocking on the door.

Speaker 2 (01:51:08):
Full back stands to the left of Samuel Mars Jared
Reel in the backfield. They'll hand it off the reel.
He bounces it outside and he is going to be
grabbed fum behind. He will be right at the sticks,
and I think he's got enough for the first down.
I think the official said move the chains. He did
put him down at about the eight yard line. Maybe yep,

(01:51:31):
looks like it is the eighth. So it is first
and goal for Tucker County. Eleventh play of this drive coming.

Speaker 4 (01:51:38):
Up in Tucker County again taking their time here, and
you know, hate saying, but if they score here, it
could be the proverbial nail in the coffin.

Speaker 2 (01:51:52):
First down and ten snap comes back. No, that's going
to be marks on the keeper and he pushes his
way ahead to the five yard line. Stand by, though
the white cap deep in the backfield throws a flag.
Typically where you get a holding call, that is where
you're going to get it, So that'll move them back
to the eighteen yard line. And the manual I saw

(01:52:14):
that came in as they put it into the belly
of Real Marks took himself off the left side, and
that flag came in almost immediately.

Speaker 5 (01:52:21):
Yeah, it was a clear shot from here for the
referee was one of the other blocking backs grabbed a
little too much. Jersey can't do that when you're about
five feet from a referee.

Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
Yeah, he saw it there, and you know, good job.
There are those that you know, listen to Mike and
I pretty much know we never identify players that commit penalties,
so just don't feel like there's any reason to do
that for high school kids. So it'll be first and
goal from the eighteen yard line of East Hardy. Three
receivers to the right, single to the left. They handed
off the real Real running hard off the right side,

(01:52:55):
and he'll push his way to about the sixteen yard line.
Give him two yards on the carry and it will
now be second and goal.

Speaker 6 (01:53:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:53:05):
East Tardy's offense or defensive line has been doing a
great job all game of maintaining Real when and quit
not allowing him to get those bigger runs.

Speaker 6 (01:53:13):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:53:14):
Eighteen carries. I'd say if he has carried ball for
eighteen carries, he probably is well over one hundred yards.
In most games. He's only got seventy eight to night.

Speaker 2 (01:53:21):
It may be the first game he's been held under
one hundred yards all year. If he doesn't break that
century mark, he averages about one hundred and sixty two
a game. Second and goal from the sixteen of East Hardy,
Tucker County, with a fourteen point leading the ball, third
down and goal, they fired the pass and that is
most definitely going to be pass interference, as Will Fong

(01:53:42):
came down, drove in and then was supposed to break
out to the corner of the end zone, and even
from all the way up here, was literally tackled to
the ground by an East Hardy defender.

Speaker 4 (01:53:52):
Yeah, and that's one of those penalties Greg, you and
I see on Saturdays and Sundays.

Speaker 6 (01:53:56):
I don't think that was intentional.

Speaker 4 (01:53:57):
I think the two East Hardy guys and Will all
came together and I think they just all kind of
ran into each other and it looked really bad, but
it was clearly pass interference.

Speaker 2 (01:54:06):
Yeah, I think so, D'maniel what you see from your angle.

Speaker 10 (01:54:09):
Yeah, definitely looked bad from down here.

Speaker 2 (01:54:12):
Well again from what I could tell, Will Fongs running
and he ran the flag routes, so he ran to
the post and then it was supposed to bounce it
out to the back corner of the end zone. And
the next thing I know, he is being pulled down
and again intentional or not. Unfortunately, they do have to
call the penalty. He'll be half the distance and it'll
now be first in goal or second in goal rather

(01:54:35):
from the eight. Not a first down. They can't get
a first down.

Speaker 6 (01:54:40):
It's goal.

Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
Here's Jared Reel on the hand off, bouncing it outside.
He's at the five, stumbles his way over to the
sideline and he will go out of bounds, maybe about
the four yard line, but the official said his forward
progress would stopped before he slid out of bounce to
the clock continues to turn and that'll put the ball

(01:55:02):
at the four. Make it third and goal from the
four yard line. Tucker County leading fourteen to nothing here
against East Hardy, three minutes, twenty five seconds to go.
Third quarter, power eye formation. Jared Reel dots the eye
marks up under center. Gonna keep it himself on the
quarterback sneak and he dives ahead. Did he cross the

(01:55:23):
plane of the goal line? The officials rush in waiting
on the call in he is in for the touchdown.
They had to come in and make sure that he
broke the plane. He did a four yard touchdown run
by quarterback Samuel Martz, and with three minutes and eight
seconds to go in the third quarter, Tucker County jumps

(01:55:45):
out to a twenty to nothing lead.

Speaker 4 (01:55:49):
Yeah, and like I said, that may be the proverbial
nail on the coffin because East already hasn't been able
to do much quickly on offense.

Speaker 6 (01:55:55):
They've owned the time, possession.

Speaker 2 (01:55:58):
Two point conversion. Now powermation, two full backs and a
tailback hand it off to Jared ree Or running hard
off the left side. He is into the enza and
the two point conversion. He is good. Twenty two to nothing.
Tucker County leading East Hardy Are coverage presented by Matiki
Cole and we'll be back to Parsons in thirty seconds

(01:56:20):
on ninety four point seven w Eolk.

Speaker 4 (01:57:34):
Four yard touchdown run by Samuel Marks caps off of
thirteen play, eighty three yard drive in six months and
thirteen seconds.

Speaker 6 (01:57:40):
Two point conversion is good. New score. Tucker County twenty
two East Hardy Nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
Strotterman and Price back to receive the kickoff four East Hardy.
Here is the run up, Here is the kick, and
it is going to go out of bound. So penalty again,
Tucker County. The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission serves
its two hundred and eighty six member schools and their

(01:58:06):
students by providing leadership and support for the conduct of
education based athletics which enrich the educational experience of all participants.
Participants play, perform, compete together. Three minutes eight seconds to
go in the third quarter. Tucker County with the penalty,
kick it out of bound. So East Hardy's going to

(01:58:27):
back them up five yards and ask them to kick
that football again.

Speaker 6 (01:58:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:58:33):
I see that more and more lately, and I'm not
really sure the theory behind that, because usually most teams
just take it at the thirty five yard line, go on.

Speaker 2 (01:58:41):
You know, and it's a footing issue in the field.
Is getting more and more difficult to maintain footing. It
was a lot of grass when we first got here,
and now there's not so much grass. And if Tucker
County should win this game, they have to host another
game next weekend, either Friday night or Saturday, where there
is currently a potential for some weather. So we'll see

(01:59:05):
what happens. Stratterman picks the ball up at the twenty
five yard line to the near side thirty thirty five
and is spun down across the thirty five ahead to
about the thirty seven yard line, where it will be
first down and ten. And now I think the manual
will bring you in on this. East Hardy has had
success throwing the football three minutes to go third quarter,

(01:59:28):
so you got fifteen minutes, you're down by twenty two points.
Is it time to start throwing the ball at this point?

Speaker 10 (01:59:33):
I don't think you necessarily have to go deep.

Speaker 5 (01:59:35):
They just need to get their quarterback some confidence and
complete some classes. So if they can get out of
the mud zone that they're in right now and get
on the opposite side of the field and get in
the Tucker County territory, you know, you can actually run
some of your stuff to try to cut this.

Speaker 6 (01:59:50):
Lead in.

Speaker 2 (01:59:52):
Twenty two to nothing. It's first down to ten from
their own thirty seven yard line, direct snap back to
Braden Gregory. No footing to be had. He will manage
to get ahead to about the thirty or the forty
yard line. Excuse me, so a three yard pickup and
it is now second down and about seven for East Hardy.

Speaker 4 (02:00:13):
Yeah, the footing is really trerecherous right where they're at
right now on the field, greg And you saw Gregory
there try to make a couple of cuts.

Speaker 6 (02:00:20):
And just couldn't do anything. His legs were looked like jello.

Speaker 5 (02:00:24):
There's no cutting ability down here. You're just gonna have
to go north and south.

Speaker 2 (02:00:29):
Two receivers to the right, single to the left on
second down and seven from their own forty East Hardy
trailing by twenty two points. Looking deep down the field,
he's got a receiver and it's a little bit too
far out of mounds and over the head of Chase
rex Road. Could not pull it in. It'll now be
third down and seven from their own forty yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:00:49):
Yeah, and this is where the problem comes in. If
you're East Hardy. A lot of their routes go deep.
They need to do a couple more of those little
short routes that they were in beginning of the game
and had some success with. You don't need to score quick,
but you gotta at least control the football and get
on the board.

Speaker 2 (02:01:03):
I agree two sixteen to go clock has stopped. Here
third quarter, third down and seven from their own forty
yard line, East Hardy trails by twenty two. Here in
the third quarter, snap back Gregory tie him in the pocket.
Now it breaks down. Now he's flushed looking, throws it
on the run. It is caught at the twenty yard line,
diving ahead to about the fifteen. I think that's Matthias

(02:01:25):
on the catch. It is what a catch by Eli Matthias,
the senior look the ball in in traffic, pulled it
down and takes it to the nineteen yard line of
Tucker County.

Speaker 4 (02:01:38):
Yeah, and Garrett Wolfong almost picked that ball off. He
jumped up just a little bit too early on the
forty one yard touchdown or forty one yard pass and
catch there by Matthias. He just missed that ball to
Wilfong or could have been going the other way well.

Speaker 2 (02:01:51):
And Braden Gregory threw that ball on the run. What
a throw, What a catch? East Hardy in business. First
down to ten the Tucker County nineteen yard line. Two
receivers near side, they handed off. That is Stratterman pushing
his way ahead inside of the fifteen down to about
the fourteen yard line, running hard goes Price Strotterman.

Speaker 4 (02:02:14):
Yeah, Stratman got that ball. Almost dropped that hand off,
but he got that ball, went up the field there
and you can see his foot He was a little
bit more confident running the football there. Gregan and Dmaniel
did look like he had some more confidence running a
football with the footing, did he not?

Speaker 6 (02:02:28):
Absolutely? And that's what we talked about.

Speaker 5 (02:02:29):
When they get on this side of the field, the
footing is much much better, So they're gonna have to
take advantage of that.

Speaker 2 (02:02:35):
Two receivers near side, single to the far side. Stratterman
his mud cake to Jersey stands to the right of
Braden Gregory. He takes the hand off, steps out of
a tackle, keeps his legs driving. He's gonna push his
way trying to get to the five yard line. I
think he got there. It'll be first and goal for
East Hardy.

Speaker 4 (02:02:55):
Yeah, he got down around five six yard line. I
want to say right at the six. It looks like
so he's gonna get about eight yards on that carry.
First and goal.

Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
Now for the Cougars, huge momentum lift for East Hardy
if they can punch one in here at the end
of the third quarter. We're down under a minute ago.
They trail twenty two and I think it East Hardy.
Three receivers near side, single to the far side, Stratterman
to the right of Gregory. First and goal. The little
pass to the near side skips into the ground and

(02:03:25):
back up. It hopped into the belly of Levi Price.
Underthrown and incomplete.

Speaker 4 (02:03:30):
Yeah, that ball is just way underthrown. It looked like
Gregory didn't even have a good grip on it. You
saw him just shaking his hand right there, like I
didn't have a grip of that ball. And I think
they're trying to get in there quick to try to
score here before this quarter ends.

Speaker 2 (02:03:45):
Forty four seconds to go, clock is stopped. It's second
down and goal from the six. Gregory puts the shoulder
pad of Stratterman back under his jersey as the snap
hands it off. Stratterman cuts out, has a defender slip
and then he pushes forward and he will get inside
of the five, maybe to the four yard line. He

(02:04:08):
actually got the defender to slip and fall down, but
uh didn't get much. Yeah, just inside of the five.
He's officially at the four.

Speaker 6 (02:04:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:04:16):
He did a great job asie. I don't know how
he stopped and all that moderate there, but he stopped.
Made Tucker County defender miss did a little of a
spin move and then but Tucker County did a good
job of keeping his eyes on him as the linebackers
from Tucker County were able to make that stop.

Speaker 2 (02:04:29):
East Hardy ready to go third and goal, and it
is the reverse handoff, trying to get outside and know
where to go. Miss direction as they handed it off too.
The wingman coming through that was Kate and Barrett fake
the handoff to stratterman come and left, Barrett sweeping to

(02:04:49):
the right and he did not get into the end zone.
And that'll take us to the end of the third quarter,
twenty two to nothing. Tucker County on top our coverage
brought to you by him a tiki cole continues in
sixty seconds on ninety four point seven.

County Football, presented by Matiki Cole Keeping the Lights On
since nineteen seventy seven and the West Virginia Secondary School's

learning experiences to high school students while enhancing their achievement
of educational goals. Play for form, Compete Together, East Hardy's

(02:06:38):
got to start the fourth quarter down twenty two to nothing,
going for it on a fourth end goal per County
three yard line. Now moving toward the scoreboard. Two receivers
left single. The right snap comes back, Gregory fires the pass.
It is in and out of the hands. The receiver
was basically distracted by the defender swatting at the ball

(02:06:59):
and Chase Red could not pull it in. The receiver
just waved a hand in front of him and he
took his eye off the ball just long enough and
he couldn't hang on.

Speaker 4 (02:07:09):
Yeah, he just looked at that ball. There's defender from
Tucker County waved at it. He had in his hands
dropped it and saw him put his heads on his
hands because he knows that he should have had a
touchdown pass right there.

Speaker 2 (02:07:20):
D Emanuel Smith looked like from up here, pretty good
play call on the part of East Hardy. But again
that and it wasn't even that the defender knocked the
ball down, He just distracted.

Speaker 10 (02:07:30):
Him, right, It was a good play call.

Speaker 5 (02:07:32):
It was a good route by the receiver as a
better job of the defender just to kind of, like
you said, distract the receiver.

Speaker 10 (02:07:38):
He took his ball hand or I was off the
ball for just a second.

Speaker 5 (02:07:41):
That's all it took.

Speaker 2 (02:07:42):
So now Tucker County starts out at their own three
yard line, leading by twenty two points. They handed off
to Jared Rio running hard. They are shoving him latterly
and they'll push him down at the five yard line.
It is a two yard run here. And I think,
if you're East Hardy, if you've got a chain at
winning this game, you have got to get a defensive

(02:08:02):
stop on this series.

Speaker 4 (02:08:04):
Yeah, and you know, if you're he's tardy two, you
got to look at the fact that Tucker County is
in the part of the field where it's going to
be really hard to move and make cuts. So you're
going to see a lot of things north to south
right now.

Speaker 2 (02:08:14):
Yew, Well, I think they're probably going to run to
the near side here, which is to their left, because Tommanuel,
I think you would agree that's a more solid footing
than if they go to the right.

Speaker 5 (02:08:23):
Yeah, a lot more green to the left side than
there is the right, for sure.

Speaker 2 (02:08:28):
Second down, at about eight from their own five yard line,
quarterback sneak marks who would have had running room, but
he couldn't stay on his feet because he was churning
up mud, literally turning up mud as he pushes his
way ahead to about the eight yard line. So make

(02:08:48):
it third down and a long four almost five actually
right on the eight clock. Rolling in the ballgame, ten
forty five to go. Tucker County twenty two East Hardy nothing.
The winner of this one will get Pendleton County three
receivers right single to the left. On third down at

(02:09:08):
about four from their own eight yard line, Samuel Marsh
wants to throw it east, pressured, rolls out, fires it
deep down the middle of the field. Garrett will Fong
goes up in traffic and makes the catch at about
the thirty yard line. It is a first down for
Tucker County.

Speaker 4 (02:09:24):
Yeah, nice pass and catch there. Will Fong did a
great job of catching that. Marks did a great job
of getting out of traffic because he looked like he
was getting ready to get sacked.

Speaker 6 (02:09:32):
In the end zone for safety.

Speaker 4 (02:09:34):
Did a great job of getting out of there and
then get the nice pass and catch for twenty two
yards on that.

Speaker 2 (02:09:40):
Play, first down and ten and really a heartbreaker for
East Hardy. And we noticed that Chase rex Road, one
of the defenders there, came out, looks like he's got
an injury to his hand or his thumb on the
pass injury. He immediately came running off the field down

(02:10:00):
and ten from their own thirty yard line. Snap comes back,
hand off to real real looking for running room. Really
just know where to go. He may have actually lost
a yard there.

Speaker 6 (02:10:12):
Yeah, it looks like you're moving him back.

Speaker 2 (02:10:15):
To about the twenty nine yard line. And again these
teams playing. But you know what, and I go back
to being a kid, you know, being this age fifteen, sixteen, seventeen,
and Demanuel, I think you would jump in on this
as well. It's fun to play for us players, it's
fun to play in this kind of stuff.

Speaker 5 (02:10:32):
I think you love to playing games like this. I mean,
the muddier the better. It just has that football field
to it. And you know, on the play before a
great catch by will Phone, the problem is he caught
it in the worst part of the field.

Speaker 2 (02:10:44):
Yeah, that's true, right in the middle. Clock rolling with
nine ten to go in the ball game, twenty two
point lead for Tucker County, and they have the football
milking that play clock down, quick pass to the near side.
Kys some more catches at forty five, fifty, forty five,
forty thirty five. They're not gonna catch him to the ten,
to the five.

Speaker 10 (02:11:03):
Put it in the end zone.

Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
It is a touchdown reed kisamall or on the catch
and he's in the end zone. Tucker County is in
the lead now, twenty eight to nothing.

Speaker 4 (02:11:16):
Yeah, seventy one yard touchdown catch for Kaizimore. And once
he caught that ball on a slant route, he was gone.
He saw the speed there. No one was gonna catch him.
You know that's gonna be go down for a nice car.
Put the Kisimore three catches one hundred and thirty seven yards,
one touchdown. That gives Marks two hundred and seven yards
in the air. Now Mars has played very, very well
in this ball game.

Speaker 2 (02:11:37):
Two point conversion Kenny Tucker count I don't think Tucker
Kenty has had anybody kicking the ball for a year.

Speaker 6 (02:11:43):
I can't remember last time Tucker County kicked an.

Speaker 2 (02:11:45):
Extra point two receivers near side, two to the far side,
snap comes back to Mark, He pitches it to Will
Fong on the jet sweep and he's in the end zone.
The two point conversion is good. Eight fifty five to
go in the ball game, thirty to nothing. Tucker County
on top of East Hardy, but stand by flags are

(02:12:06):
down on the two point conversion.

Speaker 5 (02:12:11):
Yeah, I just got showered or flags. And I'm pretty
sure that there are a couple of East Hardy players
that says some things they might not have wanted to
say to the guys.

Speaker 2 (02:12:19):
And straps A got you all right, We'll let them
sort that out. We'll step away. We'll be back in
sixty seconds. On ninety four point seven w EOK.

Speaker 1 (02:13:25):
In Parsons, the Tucker County Mountain Lions are in the
playoffs and we've got the coverage on ninety four point seven.

Speaker 2 (02:13:33):
WELK eight fifty five to go and Tucker County's in
the m zone again.

Speaker 4 (02:13:40):
Mike, Yeah, seventy one yard touchdown catch for Reid Kyslmar
from Samuel Marks two point conversion is good. New score
thirty to nothing. East or Tucker County over East Tardy.
Five plays, ninety seven yards, three minutes and one second.
And Greg, we had some penalties unsportslike penalties.

Speaker 2 (02:13:58):
On unfortunately, and we do unfortunately. We generally don't identify
players on penalties, but we have to because it's significant.
They threw two unsportsulike conduct penalties, unfortunately, both of those
against Price Strawterman. That's two unsports unlike conduct penalties in
a game, which means he is disqualified automatic objection. It

(02:14:19):
is an automatic ejection. So both of those penalties thrown
on one player, and unfortunately, the senior running back, who
was having a great game running the football, unfortunately, very upset,
very frustrated, apparently said some things that the officials did
not think he should have said. And he is now
in the locker room for the rest of the game.

(02:14:40):
And again we hate to see that for young Price Strawterman, again,
a senior, played a whale of a game on offense
and defense, and now he is out of the game.
So Tucker County leading thirty to nothing. Our coverage brought
to you by Matiki Cole. Thank you so much to
them and all the great sponsors for allowing us to
you Tucker County football through the playoffs. We will be

(02:15:02):
back next weekend. As it appears at this point, with
just under nine minutes to go, Tucker County with a
thirty point lead, that they will be hosting the Wildcats
of Pendleton County next Friday night, yeah or Saturday, depending
on when they Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:15:19):
And the bad thing is this kick is gonna come
from the thirty yard line of East Hardy, So Tucker
County can do a number of things here to try
to get this ball clos or even like an onside kick.

Speaker 2 (02:15:32):
So said Marks is going to kick it. There is
the on side kick, and I think, yeah, somebody went early,
so they are going to call that and and so
you know, Dmanuel Smith, of course you're down roaming the
sideline for us. Thank you very much for that. So

(02:15:53):
we go back to that touchdown, and you know, again,
Garrett Willfong doing a whale of a job, makes the
nice touch to or checked me Ree Kaisimore makes the
long touchdown, and it didn't look like East Hardy had
anybody in the secondary past the cornerbacks. They didn't have
anybody deep.

Speaker 5 (02:16:10):
No, I think they more or less anticipated the run.
Just you know, Tucker County trying to run some clock
caught that defense sleeping and what a play by the
young man and Kazimore to turn on the jets and
put that thing in the end zone.

Speaker 2 (02:16:25):
He did, indeed turned it on. They had a hard
time catching him. And then the two point conversion and
again you know frustration and you know, we don't need
to belabor the point, but unfortunately a couple of unsporting
like conduct penalties both called on one player, and you
hate to see that young man end his senior year
on the football field, but you know, the the officials

(02:16:46):
made the call, and now they've got to make some
changes on offense. So you're you're down by thirty points,
eight to fifty five to go Tucker County with the lead,
East Hardy with the football, and you've lost your starting
running back. So it almost feels like he can have
to go to the passing game at this point.

Speaker 4 (02:17:02):
Yeah, you got to go to the passing game. You
got to score your down thirty points. You got to
get an end zone. You got to go quick. Now
you don't have time to waste.

Speaker 2 (02:17:09):
So Caden Barrett is now the tailback. Braden Gregory the
quarterback who has thrown the ball very well here this afternoon.
Two receivers left single, the right snap comes back, they
hand it off too. Barrett Barrett running hard off the
left side, know where to go? And now more flags
coming in. Now we've got pushing, shoving, and it looks

(02:17:31):
like we've got an injured Tucker County player and another
flag coming in, and another flag coming in.

Speaker 6 (02:17:38):
Yeah, I think.

Speaker 4 (02:17:39):
There's gonna be a lot of possible ejections now as
the one of these Tarty players already running straight to
the locker.

Speaker 16 (02:17:45):
You're going to see at least one, if not to
like you just said, And you know, you hate to
see this a playoff game or any any game, But unfortunately,
it looks like.

Speaker 5 (02:17:56):
That's what's about to happen here. Fore St Haardy.

Speaker 2 (02:17:59):
Well and we talked about that we had there was
a similar situation in the playoffs this past weekend between
Nitro and Shady Spring High School. They actually called that
game in the fourth quarter, Nitro had a forty one
to seven lead, and my understanding is they had five
players from Nitro ejected and two or three players from

(02:18:23):
Shady Spring ejected. They called the game with eight minutes
and twenty seconds to go in the game. Both coaches
agreed and they said, look, we're done. We're not playing
this game anymore. It's over. Nitro gets to win. So
the game wasn't even completed because of flaring at tempers
and flags are flying everywhere here. So another unsportsmanlike conduct,

(02:18:47):
two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties called. Another player asked to leave
the field by the officials. That unfortunately junior Christian Balzerman,
he just made his way to the locker room. And
again we typically don't identify players, but if they are
key players on the offense of the defense, kind of
have to let listeners know who's not there and why.

Speaker 4 (02:19:07):
Yeah, and prior to that, there was there was a penalty,
two offsetting penalties on the play that you know didn't matter.
They offset so that ball is going to be moved back.
Looks like they got spotted at the nine.

Speaker 2 (02:19:20):
Yeah, so it is second down as East Hardy trailing
thirty to nothing, looks at a second down in about
twenty one from the nine. Yep, they've got to get
to the thirty yard line. Two receivers to the near side,
single to the far side. Snap comes back, Graydon Gregory rolls, looks,

(02:19:41):
fires the pass. It goes off the hands of one
East Hardy player, off the hands of another East Hardy
player and falls incomplete.

Speaker 4 (02:19:51):
Yeah, and you know right now, if you're East Tardy,
you just want to get together. You want to get
this ball ball game to the end without anybody getting ejected.

Speaker 6 (02:19:58):
Because you know, if any of these.

Speaker 4 (02:20:00):
Kids are seniors, you know Strawterman and Bowserman, Well Bowserman
just a junior, as a junior, so he can miss
next year. But if you're if you're Strawterman who got
thrown out, if you're a basketball player or a baseball player,
you're missing some games in your next sport.

Speaker 2 (02:20:16):
And again, you know, it's frustrating when you hate to
see it. It's been a well played game and just
Tucker County has taken advantage of their opportunity. Snap comes
back on third down for East Hardy that is Dregory fire.
In the past, he had two receivers in the area
but stand by now there is a flag down here

(02:20:36):
in the secondary, and I'm not sure are we looking
at a potential pass interference penalty?

Speaker 4 (02:20:44):
I mean, that would be the only thing that was
And I didn't see offensive pass interference, so I'm thinking
it's probably gonna be a defensive passing offense.

Speaker 5 (02:20:50):
I didn't really see either one because it looked like
the defender actually slipped on the play sideline warning on
East tardy.

Speaker 2 (02:20:57):
Okay, so it is a so a sideline warning, it'll
be fourth down.

Speaker 5 (02:21:06):
Yeah, things are starting to implode down here on the
East sidelines. And it's just sad to see you because
coming out of halftime, they were smiling, they were cheering
for each other, they were fired up. And everything's completely
changed as we creep a little deeper into this fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (02:21:20):
Yeah, and there is a time out on the field,
eight minutes, twenty seconds to go in this football game,
thirty to nothing, Tucker County on top. And you know,
we want to remind you today's athletic event is not
about winning at all, calls disrespecting others, or criticizing the athletes, coaches,
or officials. It's about learning and growing, developing character and
competing with class Peace, Keep please Keep it positive, and

(02:21:45):
bench bad Behavior are broadcast brought to you by Matiki
Cole keeping the Lights on since nineteen seventy seven. Proud
supporters of the Tucker County Mountain Lions also want to
thank House Hunter's Real Estate, Mountain Valley Bank, West Virginia Paving,
Pioneer Insurance Agency, Dave Service Center, and Sunny's Carpet for
allowing us to bring you Tucker County football again. At

(02:22:08):
this point, with eight twenty to go in a thirty
to nothing lead, it would appear that Tucker County will
be hosting Pendleton County and they have a couple of
choices because it is the day after Thanksgiving, So they
can choose to play Friday afternoon at four o'clock. They
can choose to play Friday night. They can choose Saturday afternoon.
They can choose Saturday night.

Speaker 4 (02:22:29):
Yeah, they got they got six timeslots. They can choose
in one thirty, four o'clock or seven o'clock on both days.
And I would imagine if you're Pendleton County, You're probably
gonna stick with your routine and play at seven o'clock
Friday night.

Speaker 6 (02:22:41):
And if that's the case. It's just you and Demmanuela.

Speaker 5 (02:22:44):
It's basketball season, man, I know, and.

Speaker 2 (02:22:46):
It's gonna be you know, potentially cold and snowy, and
we'll be here anyway because that's what we do. Punt now,
coming from East Hardy. It is a line drive kick.
It's gonna go skip past ky More. He's gonna go
back and pick it up in his own forty yard line.
And he comes to the near side, he's across the
forty five before he is slammed down by four East

(02:23:10):
Hardy defenders. He won't get back to the fifty. Put
him down at about the forty seven yard line, where
it will be first down and ten for Tucker County.
Eight minutes and three seconds to go. And I don't
know about you two, but it seemed like the first
two quarters went really really fast, and the fourth quarter
feels like it started about nine years ago.

Speaker 4 (02:23:33):
A lot of throwing right now, trying to get back
into this ball game. I don't think you're gonna see
Tucker County put it in the air. I think you're
gonna see them keeping on the ball ground and run
the ball out here in this game today.

Speaker 5 (02:23:44):
Yeah, I think they're definitely gonna start watching his play
clock and try to take that thing all the way
down as close as the air as possible. At least
that's the.

Speaker 2 (02:23:50):
Hopes, especially for the guy that forgot to bring a jacket. Hey,
I'm good down here, first down and ten marks up
under center. It is that power run for me. They
pitch it to real reel finds a scene he's across
the fifty breaking tackles. He he's got the first down
into East Hardy territory at about the forty two yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:24:11):
Yeah, they're going to give him first down right around
forty one forty two looks like officially at the forty one.
I'm gonna give him twelve yards on that play. And
you know a lot of white jerseys coming in for
East Hardy due to the ejections and everything, and probably
coach Orndorf trying to get some of these young guys in,
get him experience in playoff action.

Speaker 2 (02:24:30):
Well, and yeah, I mean you want to let everybody
experience the playoff. I think really, Tucker County's played just
about everybody at one point or another. Clock rolling seven
twenty five to go in the ballgame, thirty to nothing,
Tucker County. On top, they have the football moving right
to left at the East Hardy forty one yard line
power eye formation handoff. Jared Reel looking to get outside,

(02:24:54):
is actually tackled forward and he'll push his way ahead
to right at the forty yard line. So he got
about a yard, but keeps that clock running and with
seven minutes to go East Hardy again, and I'm guessing
aj Rapple will enjoy this one for about twenty minutes

(02:25:16):
and then he'll start looking at film on Pendleton County.

Speaker 4 (02:25:18):
You're giving him twenty minutes. Yeah, well, well it's gonna
take him that long to get home. So yeah, okay,
clock rolling was six forty to go again.

Speaker 2 (02:25:28):
We will cover Tucker County threw out the playoffs here
on ninety four point seven w ELK power run formation
from the forty yard line of East Hardy. On second
and nine, pitch goes back to jaredri Or trying to
get outside. He breaks a tackle and he is slammed
out abounds short of the thirty yard line. Looks like
he got about to the thirty two maybe thirty three,

(02:25:51):
and getting out of bounds will stop the clock. I
don't think he got the first down. He did not.

Speaker 4 (02:25:58):
Yeah, thirty three seven yards on a play and he
did too rash crack that censory mark now at one
hundred and three yards on twenty four carries for the evening.

Speaker 2 (02:26:07):
Well again, Jared Reel on the season, sixteen hundred and
fifty yards on the ground, averages nearly nine yards of carry,
one hundred and sixty two yards a game, and he's
had twenty five touchdowns on the ground and two touchdowns
through the air.

Speaker 5 (02:26:24):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:26:27):
And I think Tucker County took a little long to
get the play in. They got to take a time
out before they get the penalty six twenty three to
go in the ballgame. Our coverage of Tucker County Sports
in the playoffs, presented by Matiki Cole, continues in thirty
seconds on ninety four point seven w Elk.

ninety four point seven w ELK.

Speaker 2 (02:27:26):
Six minutes twenty three seconds to go in the ball game,
Greg White, Mike Depascal here at Tucker County, Emmanuel Smith
on the sidelines, Grand Mixed Master B Brad Workman producing
at Master Control with assistance from Meghan Simmons. And you know,
so I think Demanuel, you know, we look at it
and they're really now just kind of trying to find

(02:27:46):
a part of the field that's not more mud than grass.

Speaker 5 (02:27:49):
Good luck with that, because it's gotten a whole lot
worse from since we walked across here to initially get
set up. That's for sure.

Speaker 2 (02:27:58):
Third down and about it is an initial handoff that time.
Looks like the fullback got the carry, and I don't
think he got the first down. Looks like it is
gonna be Kate Rapp on the carry, the sophomore and
he got a yard. So it's fourth down and a yard.

(02:28:19):
I mean, I think, you know, if you're Tucker County.
You really don't have anything to lose here. You've got
a thirty point lead, where under six minutes to go
in the game, and you know they're Tucker County just
looking to kind of wind this clock and get out
of here.

Speaker 4 (02:28:38):
Yeah, I mean that's all that was was just to
try to get two yards real quick. They're gonna just
try to get this one yard, get this first down,
and kill this clock.

Speaker 2 (02:28:46):
Here is the hand off to Jared Reel. He got
the first down and more keeps his legs driving and
he's pushed sideways and slammed down at the twenty four
yard line. He needed a yard he got eight or
twenty six yard line. Excuse me, he got six.

Speaker 6 (02:29:03):
There you go, good math.

Speaker 2 (02:29:04):
I know it took me a minute. I don't do math.

Speaker 6 (02:29:07):
What do you did? Good math? You just have the
wrong yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:29:09):
I don't do math. Five twenty to go. It's why
I'm married the woman I am. Well, one of the
eight thousand reasons I married the woman I'm married because
she can do math and I can't.

Speaker 5 (02:29:19):
That's what we're under center of that sign as well.

Speaker 2 (02:29:24):
That's true. Well, Tucker County has kind of gone to
that with this power run formation again, we call it
the stick eye with two lead backs and Jared Real
kind of dotting that deep eye. Mark's under center on
first down and ten and jumping and pushing and moving,
and it's either gonna be a false start, Yeah, false start.

(02:29:46):
I saw movement on both sides, and d'manuel again, you're
right on the line of scrimmage. I think you know
the defense reacted to the offensive movement.

Speaker 5 (02:29:55):
Yeah, left side of the offensive line moved just a
tattoo early for Tucker County.

Speaker 2 (02:30:01):
So that'll move the ball back to the thirty one
yard line where it'll be first down, and fifteen clock
rolls here, and this first round playoff game, it's thirty
to nothing, Tucker County leading East Hardy. Is all of
the offensive skill players, the quarterback and all the running

(02:30:22):
backs watching that play clock wind down, Marks the junior
quarterback up under center. Power Eye of formation takes the pitch.
It comes back to Jared Real trying to get outside,
pushing his way ahead, and he has brought down at
about the thirty two yard line. He actually may have
lost the yard.

Speaker 4 (02:30:41):
Yeah, I got good push there by East Hardy and
most lost probably lost the yard maybe two on that play,
but again, at this point in time, aj Rap and
Tucker County don't care. They're just trying to get that
clock to get the three zeros on the scoreboard.

Speaker 2 (02:30:56):
Coming up after the game, Miss Melissa standing by to
bring you thirty minute music marathons for your Sunday here
on ninety four point seven w E l K. Then
I'll be back in there at six o'clock in the
morning tomorrow morning.

Speaker 6 (02:31:10):
I'm on vacation this week, so my vacation is.

Speaker 2 (02:31:14):
Not til the week after Christmas. This is Mike always
on vacation. Yeah. Well, there's a fair point second down
in sixteen Ford Tucker County pitch comes out to Jared
Reel trying to get it outside. He's got the thirty
and he is going to be brought down short of
the twenty five yard line. He was trying to get
back to the original line of scrimmage, couldn't get there.
And you know, you kind of look at this offense.

(02:31:36):
They've got Jared Reel as your tailback, You've got Lucas
Barbe as a blocking back, and Cad Rapped the sophomore.
Now I would think Caid Rap the kind of the
air apparent to that tailback position as a reel, took
it down to the thirty three yard line, so, or

(02:31:57):
excuse me, the twenty eight yard line. So got about
a four yard pickups third down, and long clock continues
to whind. With two fifty five to go in the
ball game, thirty to nothing, Tucker County with the lead
and the football. Marx wants to throw it. He's under pressure,
he's hit. He sacked nice pressure coming off the left
side by East Hardy, and they grab Marx and they

(02:32:20):
slam him down. Had about the thirty seven yard line,
and Dmaniel Smith. I'm not sure that anybody saw that
blitz coming off the far side.

Speaker 10 (02:32:30):
They sure didn't, especially Marx.

Speaker 5 (02:32:31):
And I'll tell you what he had Will Fung wide
open had he had time to throw the ball.

Speaker 6 (02:32:35):
Good job.

Speaker 5 (02:32:36):
He's hardy to apply the pressure and blow that play
up before it got worse.

Speaker 2 (02:32:43):
So now fourth down and about twenty one, and it
looks like they're in kind of a odd punt formation.
Garrett will Fong back, but he's not real deep snap back,
and they're gonna fake it. Will Fong throwing the pass
down the field. It is in complete. Nice pass coverage

(02:33:06):
down there by Neemiah Graham, the freshman who went down
and basically just kind of got in the way of
the reintended receiver Cayden Arnold, and Will Fong's pass falls incomplete.
I kind of wondered if it was gonna be a fake,
and Emmanuel correct me if I'm wrong, But it did
not look like in a where the punter normally stands.

(02:33:28):
He was far enough back.

Speaker 5 (02:33:30):
You called that perfectly. It looked like a fake all
the way. I'll tell you what. I'm kind of surprised
it wasn't a past interference because the defender never turned
at all to try to locate the ball.

Speaker 6 (02:33:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:33:40):
I was gonna say the same thing to Manil. He
never turned around to locate that football. But I think
at this point in time, the officials are also trying
to do some game management and saying, hey, this ball
game's over, let's just get out of.

Speaker 6 (02:33:52):
Here before anything else happens.

Speaker 2 (02:33:53):
Yeah, and it did. I mean to me, and I understand,
you know, the defender needs to turn around. It looked
like that ball was pretty well underthrown. It was under
thrown by a couple of yards. Now, could he have
come back and got the ball. I mean they could,
you could argue that, but I'm guessing it was a
no call because they kind of deemed it as unketchable, right.

Speaker 5 (02:34:10):
I think had he made one of an attempt to
make it appears if he's coming back from the ball,
he might have thrown it. But yes, a good call.

Speaker 2 (02:34:18):
So first down and ten for East Tardy. They trail
by thirty with a minute fifty five to go in
the ball game. They take over first down and ten
at their own thirty seven yard line. Gregory fires the
pass here to the near side. It is caught and
pushing ahead is Chase rex Road, and he will get ahead,
not quite to the first down, put him down at

(02:34:38):
about the forty four yard line. Second down and about four.

Speaker 6 (02:34:43):
Yeah, just nice little pass and catch there for Freden Gregory.

Speaker 4 (02:34:46):
He's had a good game. Twelve for twenty one, one
hundred and seventy three yards. Unfortunately no touchdowns. That's the
first time rex Road's caught the ball. He's been targeted
five times this evening, and I think you're just going
to see coach Warndworf run some plays, hopefully try to
getting the end zone, knock his shutout to think.

Speaker 2 (02:35:02):
Three receivers left single to the right, Gregory the quarterback
on second down and about four pump fake Gregory looking
deep down the field and overthrew. Everybody had a receiver
that had gone outside and was kind of running a
post route and he just didn't see him.

Speaker 4 (02:35:19):
Yeah, and you saw Levi Price there look down at
his armband like, I think that I run the wrong
route because it looked like he was. Gregory was expecting
to run a corner route and Gregory ran looked like
a long post or a flag route, so to speak.

Speaker 2 (02:35:34):
One minute and nine seconds to go in this one,
third down and three. Hopefully Emanuel Smith can work his
way over in postgame and grab head coach aj Rapp
for a quick interview. Well after the handshakes go on,
we'll see how that goes. Could be a while. A
minute nine to go, Gregory under pressure, drives back, throws

(02:35:56):
the screen a little bit behind the receiver. He manages
to make the catch that is Caden Barrett, and it
was a little behind him. He had to slow down
to get it and it actually goes down as a
loss back to the forty eight yard line. It'll be
fourth down and about seven for East Hardy. Clock under
a minute to go in this ballgame, and Tucker County's
gonna win it.

Speaker 4 (02:36:18):
Yeah, Tucker County's gonna advance onto the next round of
the playoffs. They're gonna get Pendleton.

Speaker 6 (02:36:22):
Next week again. Greg another team that is a rivalry
game for Tucker County so to speak. You know, they're
PVC fos.

Speaker 4 (02:36:28):
And I'm sure that coach Rapp is not happy his
two playoff games are against teams he sees in the
regular season, because that makes it even harder to prepare
for somebody.

Speaker 2 (02:36:39):
Two receivers to the left, two to the right, fourth
down and seven. They actually East Hardy does not have
to snap the ball. There's twelve second the play clock.
Game clock is one second difference, and there's one more second.
So technically, here's the final play of the game, barring

(02:36:59):
a analty. Gregory with the pump fake, looks down the field.
Now he's gonna talk it, he's gonna run, he's gonna
get slammed down, and the ballgame is over. The final
score Tucker County thirty, East Hardy. Nothing here this afternoon
and Parsons West Virginia again. Our coverage brought to you

(02:37:22):
by Matiki Cole. We're going to try to catch up

Final score here Ann Parsons thirty to nothing. Our coverage
brought to you by Cole keeping the lights on since
nineteen seventy seven. And you know, Mike Depascalill coming into
this game. You know, we talked about it coming over here.
As a matter of fact that really the only team
that gave Tucker County a hard time during the regular

(02:39:16):
season was this East Hardy team. It was twenty to
seven and it was back and forth here early on,
both teams only having the ball one time in the
first quarter, Tucker County scoring twice. We talk about the
holding penalty on East Hardy where they had it first
and goal inside of the one yard line. The holding

(02:39:38):
penalty brought it back. They just never seemed to get
their momentum going much after that. So this East Hardy
team nothing to hang their heads about. Great season, made
it to the playoffs and that is fantastic. But Tucker
County is advancing East Hardy now getting ready for basketball.

Speaker 6 (02:39:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:39:56):
I think the big story of the game though, you
know mentioned Greg was a penalty. You started a ten
penalties for one hundred and forty yards. A lot of
them cut themselves on the foot and you know, hopefully
they get that fixed next year going into things, and
I think Dmanuel he's trying to get coach raps. They're
running around. Who knows what coach raps do?

Speaker 2 (02:40:15):
Well co you know, co coach is a busy guy. Actually,
one of the one of the good people in the
world is head coach AJ Rapp. And he's walking over.
He'll he'll make his way back out to the field
and we'll have Dmanuel just kind of face up here
with that microphone as head coach aj rap. So another
exciting performance by this Tucker County Mountain line team. They

(02:40:37):
are now eleven and a oh on the season. Let's
go down on the field. Emmanuel Smith with head coach
aj Rapp.

Speaker 5 (02:40:43):
All right, I'm here with winning head coach aj Rapp
and coach. Great game offensively, defensively, muddy conditions.

Speaker 10 (02:40:52):
The footing was definitely an issue. Ball hending is definitely issue.

Speaker 5 (02:40:56):
What did you tell your boys before the game, and
how do you feel about how they execute today?

Speaker 11 (02:41:00):
You know, all week long we told him this is
gonna be a tough draw for us.

Speaker 6 (02:41:03):
It's tough played.

Speaker 11 (02:41:03):
He's already back you know, back to back in the
same season, let alone five times in three years, you know,
and and we knew their physicals, the big boys. Coach
Wardorf does a great job with them. Our kids come
out and respond to that. I'm super proud of our
line today. I mean, they did a better job than
what they have and and and they and the games
passed on bigger teams like that, and you know, we
did a nice job. Moved the ball with Jaredy even
were a little stick eye there, which is uncommon for us.

Speaker 6 (02:41:26):
But the kids won that. We put it in and
they went with it.

Speaker 10 (02:41:28):
Hey, it's whatever works.

Speaker 5 (02:41:29):
And as we look forward to next week, another team
that you're real familiar with in Penalty County.

Speaker 10 (02:41:34):
What do you expect to see out of them next week?

Speaker 6 (02:41:36):
Oh, they're gonna sling a hope. You know, that's what
they do. They got a nice freshman quarterback.

Speaker 11 (02:41:39):
He gave us fits done and we played earlier in
the year, and you know, he's gonna sling the ball
around and we're gonna try to get after him, and uh,
we've got to do a better job. We didn't do
a great job even against He's hard today on pass coverage.
But we'll get on some film and at least we
know where we were playing this week. We'll have some
time to prep.

Speaker 5 (02:41:52):
So good deal.

Speaker 10 (02:41:53):
Well, coach, We definitely appreciate you.

Speaker 6 (02:41:54):
Good luck.

Speaker 5 (02:41:55):

thanks coach. So let's quick quickly get into some statistics.

the number. See what we've got here in this Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:42:10):
Sam and walks for Tucker County seven for twelve two
hundred and seven yards and a touchdown. Jared Reel twenty
seven yards on twenty seven rush one hundred and twelve yards.

Speaker 6 (02:42:17):
On the ground. Kayzamore, great game.

Speaker 4 (02:42:20):
He had to punt return three catches one hundred and
thirty seven yards in a long touchdown. East already put
up two hundred and twenty nine yards all together. Brayden
Gregory thirteen for twenty three hundred and sixty nine yards.
Stratterman Pray Strawman thirteen carries fifty four yards. Tucker County
two hundred and ninety four yards offense. East already two
hundred and twenty nine yards offense, and again greg story

(02:42:41):
of the game, I think East hardy ten penalties for
one hundred and forty yards, a lot of them back
back breaking penalties, and unfortunately for them, their season is
going to end at four and seven and Tucker County's
going on eleven and zer and they got the Pendleton
County Mountain or Pendleton County Wildcats next week again another
PVC foe that they're very.

Speaker 2 (02:43:01):
Used to, indeed they are. So that is going to
wrap it up. Thanks to everybody here at Ticker County,
