had some snow in the area. I will tell you
up on top of the mountain where Tucker County High
School it is up in the Davis Thomas area. They
got some significant snowfall overnight and into this morning. Coach
aj Rap told me up on the mountain they had

about five or six inches of snow and wind and
cold temperatures here in Parsons not too bad. The sun
is out. There is snow on the field now. Of
course they came in earlier today and cleaned the snow
off of the yard marker, so we'll be able to
tell you where everything is going. The field in rough

shape right now. I got to tell you it's a
grass surface. And that's what you have in the second
week of the high school football playoffs as we get
you ready for Tucker County Playoff football taking on Pendleton County.

different styles. Tucker County can throw the ball, but their
intention is to run the ball as much as they
can and of course behind Jared Reel on most two
thousand yards on the season, and they're going to run
the ball today. That's what they want to do. On
the flip side. The Pendleton County Wildcats number seven in

Class Single A with a record of eight and three.
Colton Roberson is the quarterback now. Roberson started at quarterback
for the first time about mid season against this Tucker
County team and then he's gotten better. He threw for
five touchdowns in a playoff game last week against meadow Bridge.
They are getting ready to honor America here at Tucker

County High School. I did have an opportunity to talk
with head coach aj Ramp. Will hear his thoughts on
the game last week and the game today as we

aj Rapp. Let's go back to last week. Started out
pretty competitive early on with East Hardy and then which
a what Reid kaysmore kind of opened it up for you.

Yeah, he did eat that punt return, set the tone
force there and he got everybody's motions up, got us
a good fourteen nothing lead there, and you know then
he come on ere later there's a couple of big
catches and a long touchdown run and you know, read
stepped up force. When you know everybody's taking care of Garrett,
but they forgot about Reids.

You know, you got to watch out for Garrett will Fong,
big six foot four, and of course Jared real man.
I tell you what, We've been very fortunate to have
him here at Tucker County for the last couple of years.
He just kind of does what he do.

Yeah, Jared's consistent, you know what I mean, He's he's
been there with us for four years and I'm gonna
miss him, and hopefully it ain't after today, but you know,
hopefully we can continue on down the line here. But
he does what he does, and he's a consistent guy.
He's always around at at least seventy five eighty yard
rush range, you know, and it's hard to hold him
below that, and and sometimes he's up over to fifty,
you know, so, uh, you know, Jared's good player. This

is this is this kind of game today, is the
way the field conditions in the weather.

You know, we talk about you know, of course Mark's
at quarterby Jared Reel, but they wouldn't have the success
they're having without those big guys up front. Talk a
little bit about that offensive line you've got.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
Yeah, we've surprisingly ran the ball better than I thought
we would.

Speaker 8 (05:24):
At the beginning of the year.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
You know, we had some replacement guys in there on
our right side of the line. We had to put
Colton Teeter and Quante Mitchell in there who didn't start
last year. We lost two seniors of last year there,
and those guys came in and did a nice job
for us. So you know, we're hoping we continue that today.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
You know, you were in the second round of the playoffs,
and you know you said it a minute ago, hopefully
you know, playing next week. Do you think there's anything
going through the player's minds about boy, if we get
this one, you know we get another one next week,
or they just focused on what's going on today.

Speaker 8 (05:55):
I hope they're not.

Speaker 6 (05:55):
You know, we play, we've played everything all year long
in the game at a time, you know, don't look
down the line you got coming up in two weeks.
Look who you got now in front of you. Better
take care of them, or you know, if not, you
may not be next week. Now in the playoff situation, Well.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
We've got a Pendleton County team in here today. You
got him pretty good down at there placed a couple
of weeks ago. But I tell you what they they
went to the air last week against Meta Bridge.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
Yeah, they're they're quarterback. You know, we had a little
fit with him down there when we played there, you know,
back in mid mid season and that was his first
game as quarterback. He's freshman kid Robison. Uh, he's a
real good quarterback. He's a good runner too, and you
know he makes him a different team. And you know,
luckily we played him once before, but he's had some
little bit of time to get better here in the
last few weeks.

Speaker 8 (06:35):
So you know, we're gonna have our handsful with him.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
You know, we talk about the field and you know,
considering you know, we had snow and we've got cold weather.
Seems to be in pretty good shape. But as you said,
I think it kind of lends itself to the run
game a little bit more today, don't you think.

Speaker 8 (06:48):
Yes, yeah, if you can get to it.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
I mean, you know, it's it's a little slick, it's
gonna be slicker, and we all get it tore up
in a little bit, but uh, you know, it's it's
it is. What it is is playoff football on a
grass field, and both teams got to play on it.
So you know, we'll see what happens, and then you know,
we're gonna go with what got us here.

So you know, if Sam still has a green light
to throw if he needs to, and he's if he
wants to give it to Jared and give it to Jared.

So any any concerns about you know, right now we're

Yeah, that's any time you get on the field like this,
cold hands, cold fingers, you know you're gonna take a

I think all of them and there there's enough hot
hands in our locker room just to keep your hands
and stuff for him.

But you know, day like this, anytime you take a
shot on the hand, it's gonna be a lot colder, sting,

ball security. We've been a on pretty good job at
it this year. I think our ratio of turnovers to
us turnovers or we're about plus thirty six right now,
so you know, hopefully we do the same thing today.

the scoreboard from the high school football playoffs as they

played some games yesterday in every class. Now what I
can tell you is whichever team wins here today, they
already know who their opponent is. That is the White
Falcons of They defeated the Sherman Tide last night sixty one,
so nothing. So far in two playoff games, Wohama has

scored sixty eight and sixty one points, so they are
they are getting after it. It's going to be a
tough road to hoe for either one of these teams.
Should Tucker County win, Wohama will be here next weekend.
Whether it be Friday or Saturday remains to be seen.
And should Pendleton County come out of here victorious today,

then Pendleton County will have to make the trip over.
Oh gosh, it's a long way from here Wohama down
over near Wheeling and then you go south down toward Potmeroy, Ohio.
So it is going to be a trip for them
to go there, or it'll be a trip for Wahama
to make their way over here next week. High school

on offense with a record of eight and three under
head coach Zack Smith. They will go across the front
with senior Ryland Copley, sophomore Ty heaven Or, sophomore Spencer Hartman,
freshman Sam Easton, and sophomore David Noble. The wide receivers

Jase Owens, Corbyn Dove, William Chase, and Josiah Kimball. In
the backfield Nicholas Rose, a five eight senior, and a
quarterback six foot, one hundred and sixty five pound freshman
Colton Roberson roads last week on the ground sixteen carries
sixty six yards. Roberson last week thirteen of seventeen, passing

three hundred and thirty three yards five touchdowns, and he
carried the ball for sixty one yards on all fense
for Tucker County under head coach aj Rapp with a
record of eleven and oh they are number ten, number
two in the state of West Virginia in Class single ay.
By the way, Pendleton County wins the toss and they

have deferred their option, Tucker County will receive, so they'll
be on offense first. Across the front, it'll be sophomore
Colton Teeter, senior Quante Mitchell, senior, Gavin Nester, senior, Mark Phillipson,
junior Josh Crossland. The wide receivers Garrett will Fong, Reid
Kaisimoor who had three catches for one hundred and thirty

seven yards including seven one yard touchdown, Keeland Eichelberger, and
Lucas Barb. In the backfield, Jared Reel last week twenty
five carries one hundred and twenty three yards and the
quarterback is a junior Samuel Marx last week ten of
twenty two, passing for one hundred and eighty one yards,
five carries thirty one yards and a touchdown. So, as

the stands, and if my eyes don't deceive me, got
some people hanging out in their cars where it's a

nine yard line of the Wildcats. So first down and
Ted Caden rap Is the lead blocker, marks up under center,
Jared Reel the tailback. Two receivers one either way. On

first down and ten, it's a hand off. Jared Reel,
looking for running room, runs into the back of his blocker's.
Good job by Pendleton County getting in collapsing that Reel.
We'll get a couple of yards on the opening carry
of the ball game running to the left as he
spots it down at about the forty seven yard line.
Give him two yards on the carry second down and

about eight for Tucker County Mountain Lions moving left to
right opening possession of the game. All on the far
side Hash Market is the stick eye formation. Three backs
directly by hide marks. They handed off to Jared Reel,
running hard off the left side. He's got the forty five,
keeps his legs driving and his tackle down inside of
the forty five, right around the forty four yard line.

It'll be a pickup of around three yards as he
takes it down to the forty four and it is
now third down and about five for the Mountain Lions.
Clock rolling here, opening quarter, ten to fifty to go,
opening possession of the game. Tucker County. Three receivers to
the near side, single receiver to the far side. Ball

on the far side, Hash Mark moving left to right,
reel behind Marks in the pistol. On third down and
at five he claps his hands, he has the snap,
wants to throw it. He's got Kaisam Moore, he's got
the first down, breaks a tackle, he's across the thirty
five and has shoved out of bounds just short of
the thirty yard line. It is a first down though

for Tucker County as they move the ball a little
quick pass and then kaisum will Or got a few
more yards out of it. Ball on the thirty three
yard line and is an eleven yard pass and catch,
first down and ten for Tucker County again, same formation,

three receivers to the right, single to the left from
the thirty three yard line of Pendleton County. Marks has
Reel behind him, wants the snap, hands it off. Jared
Reel runs hard off the left side. He gets to
the thirty yard line and then he has shoved sideways
footing not great down in that part of the field.
As again they had to come in this morning and

clear a little bit of snow off of the field.
As they take it down to the thirty yard line,
it is a three yard pickup for Jared Reel. He's
got eight yards on three carries. Clock rolling nine thirty
five to go. Opening quarter, opening possession for Tucker County.
Three receivers right, single to the left on second down
and seven little wide receiver screen comes over to the

near side. Eichelberger makes the catch and he is immediately
hit and brought down by Chase Owens, the linebacker. No
gain on the play. It'll bring up third down and
about six Now check me, they did give him positive

eight yard line, so it was two yards on the
pass and catch. Here's the throw. On third down, they
go back to Kaizamore. He makes the catch and he
is blasted. A flag comes down, another one comes in,
and I think they're going to throw the penalty against

Pendleton County. They hit Kaysamore high as they came in
and blasted him as soon as he caught the pass.
But then the penalty is probably going to give him
the first down. It is indeed the personal foul penalty,
you know, not an intentional penalty. Didn't hit him high
on purpose. When Kaizumer went up pulled the ball down,

that's just where the defender happened to be. It was
right out. The first down sticks. So the pass is
completed for about three yards or check me, eight yards
down to the twenty yard line, and now it's first
and goal for Tucker County from the Pendleton County eleven

yard line. They throw the screen out to the near side.
Willfong makes the catch, dragging tacklers, and he's into the
end zone for the touchdown. It is an eleven yard
touchdown run to Garrett will or touchdown pass rather to
Garrett Willfong, and just like that, it is a touchdown

for Tucker County. They are in the end zone. Tucker
County does not have a kicking game, so to speak.
They will go for two as they had some success
here on the opening drive of the game, two point
conversion out of the Stickeye formation, handoff Jared rey Or

on the thirty nine, not the twenty nine, and it
is a four yard pickup up to the forty three

he's gonna take off and run, running hard, and he'll
cross the forty five head to about the forty six
yard line. Josh crossland On the tackle will slow him up,
and actually they're gonna spot him at about the forty

Makes it third down in a long yard while just
shy of the forty eight moving right to the left,
three receivers, tight formation on the right side. Low snap
comes down to Nick Road. No Roberson floats the pass

and a diving catch by Chase Owens. He did manage
to pull it down. Unfortunately it's no gain on the play.
Actually he lost a yard back to the forty seven.
So make it fourth down and two for Pendleton County

and they are not taking any chances. They are in
a punt formation. Chase Owens to kick it away to
read Kaizamori had a fifty five yard punt return for
a touchdown last week. It is a low line drive
kick scoop up at the fifteen yard line, down the
far sideline, then angling back in. He's going to be
hit and dropped at about the twenty two twenty three

yard line, So a defensive stand by Tucker County. They
have a lead eight to nothing here in the opening quarter,
their second offensive possession. The West Virginia Secondary School's Activities

Real nice hole off the left side, keeps his legs
driving and he will drive ahead across the thirty close
to the thirty five. Put him down at the thirty

first down for Tucker County five and a half to

Lions on top of number seven. Pendleton County ball right
in the middle of the field at the thirty four
yard line, moving left to right. They'll send two receivers
to the near side, two to the far side. Marks
out of the pistol, claps his hands, puts it into
the belly of Jared Reel, running hard, nice hole off
the left side, and he is going to be smacked
down just short of the forty yard line. Hard running.

Pendleton County's defensive line doing a good job of getting
to Jared Reel. He will pick up four yards on
the carry as he will take it up to about
the thirty eight yard line. So about a four yard
pickup for Jared Reel. Second down and about six high.

Snap comes back fire, the pass over to the near side,
caught by Kaisa More. Kaisamore keeps his legs driving. He's
going to be pushed out of bounds just shy of
the forty five. Will have to wait on the official
spot to get it. I don't think he got enough
for the first down. He did not. They will spot
him at the forty three. So about a five yard

pass and catch five yards to Kaisamore. He's got sixteen
on two receptions. Third down and about a yard Jared Reel,
He's got the first down in More keeps his legs driving,
He's in Pendleton County Territory across the fifty town to

Wildcats a team that threw the football last week in

number one Martinsburg dominant over Parkersburg South, rated number eight.
