News Center. Good morning, It's forty two degrees at five
oh four, I landed more. The Appleton Area School District
continues to struggle with chronic absenteeism at its high schools.
After a slight dip in the twenty twenty three to
twenty four school year, the absentee rate at the three
high schools has gone back above twenty five percent for

the first semester of this year. Superintendent Greg Hart Just
says that is why he continues to press the City
of Appleton to restore h trugency ordinance.

The majority, if not all, districts in the state have
a municipality that has a citation around attendants. Appleton is
very much an outlier. The largest fifteen districts in the
state all a half city support through the citation.

Except for Appleton built at all other local.

Chronic capsenteeism is defined as missing ten percent of school days.
Appleton schools have seen slight declines this year at the
elementary and middle schools, with rates of fourteen and eighteen percent, respectively.
Bond is set at fifty thousand dollars in Autigamy County
Thursday for a former Appleton teacher charged in connection with
the sexual assault of a seventeen year old boy at
Appleton West High School. According to a criminal complaint, Rebecca

Ryan allegedly had sexual contact with the teen, who was
one of her students, in a car multiple times between
late twenty seventeen and early twenty eighteen on school grounds.
Ryan is also ordered to have no contact with the victim,
who's now twenty five years old. A preliminary hearing is
set for May sixth An Arkansas man accused of taking
a pregnant beaver Damn teenager from her home is heading

to trial. A Dodge County judge finds there is enough
evidence to try Gary Day on charges of child debduction
and child enticement. Day, who is the father of the
girl's child, is accused of picking her up from her
home in February. During Thursday's preliminary hearing, beaver Damn Police
detective Daniel Kootz was asked by a state attorney whether Day,
who was on probation for another offense, was authorized to

take the teen from her home. The victim's father or
mother at any point give a consent to the defendant
to take possession of victim. No, they didn't. Day and
the girl were found near Omaha, Nebraska last month, and
we're returned to Wisconsin. He will enter police to the
charges on June third. Expanding medicaid in Wisconsin is the

focus of a roundtable hosted by Governor Tony Evers in Nina.
Evers is looking to bring the program to more than
ninety five thousand low income residents via his proposed state budget.

I'm committed that medicaid is exceedingly important for many, many
people in the state, and if we want to have
a state that is healthy, we need to do this.

Wisconsin is one of only ten states that have not
attempted medicaid expansion. A June twenty fifth trial data set
for a Green Bay man accused of providing drugs to
an overdose victim. DeMarcus Hicks, is charged in Brown County
Court with first degree reckless homicide, maintaining a drug trafficking place,
and possession of narcotics all as a defender. Hicks allegedly
sold drugs to a twenty five year old woman found

dead in a Baston Street home back in May of
last year. He faces up to ninety years in prison
if convicted. Mile of Music releases it's first fifty artists
for this year's festival in downtown Appleton. Founder Dave Williams
Hope's additional publicity from a documentary could boost attendance over
one hundred thousand this year.

including of course the PBS broadcast, which by all indication should.
