the same period last year. Fourteen hundred and twenty two
of these citations were issued in the downtown area alone.

it represents fifty two percent of all citations issued in

(01:10):
the city of Appleton.

A group of downtown residents are calling for even more enforcement,
citing loud vehicles cruising along College Avenue at night.

Rising prisoner numbers has the Winnebago County Sheriff's office looking
to reopen more cells at the jail. Average daily populations
at the jail have grown from two hundred and thirty

and seventy five each day this fall. Sheriff John Mott
says there are no diversion programs available to reduce that number.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
The people that are in our jail are everywhere from
homicide to second time trunk drivers. There are many that
are on probation parole holds on top of crimes. So
they committed a crime, they got put on a hold.
That is a lot of the individuals we have, So
even if we gave them a signature bond, they would

(01:57):
be going. Nope, they're in our jail.

Legislation that would prohibit foreign adversaries from acquiring Wisconsin agricultural

Committee this week. Republican Andre Jacques of de Peer is
the bill's Senate author.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
I see Wisconsin is a great investment, but when we
lose those key pillars of our economy to somebody outside
of domestic control, it's a recipe for disaster.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
State law already places restrictions on foreign ownership of ag
and forestry land, but the bill adds the language on
foreign adversaries. Representative William Penriman of Hustisferd said, according to USDA,
two point six percent, or roughly six hundred thousand acres

their major concern.

Wisconsin is one of thirty nine states that allows some
sort of sports betting, but under the state constitution it
can only happen on tribal lands. The bipartisan bill would
use what legislators call a hub and spoke model, where
the gambling servers are located on tribal lands, but users
with online devices could be located anywhere else in the state.
