Speaker 2 (02:46):
Free challenge to change where transformation begins with you. Change

(03:11):
appears to be one of the biggest hindrances to grow
from relationships that I have encountered. While in ministry, our
focus is usually on someone else and what they have
done or are doing to us, instead of us being
accountable to God and making sure we're not a stumbling
block to ourselves or others. Challenge to change is about
us taking personal responsibility for our Christian walk as we

(03:33):
face challenges and issues and how to overcome them through
biblical tools and techniques that we will discuss on this show.
Everything about this show is encompassed in us depending on
the Holy Spirit to edify, enrich and transform lives by
introducing individuals to a personal encounter with God's unconditional love.

(03:55):
That is where real transformation begins and ends. And that's
what we're saying to our minds, so that we can
do nothing but listen to you. Because your presence, it
is manifest. Healing comes from you, Glory goes to you.
So we come before your thrown wash in the blood
of Jesus. We thank you for giving us the spirit
of wisdom and understanding. The spirit of counsel might make

(04:18):
us a quick understanding. So we do not judge by
what we see with our eyes or heal with our ears,
but by what your Holy Spirit reveals to us. We
thank you for it. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Turn to your neighbor, and before you sit down and say, hey,
how you doing what they say? Did they say anything't
back your name saying something back? All right, Let's go

(04:44):
ahead and do our opening confession. Already, Father, I choose
to be open and receptive today. I humble myself, burying
my heart, my joys, and my pains. I thank you
for restoring my wounded soul. I believe that I will
not receive more than my humanity can bear. I ask
that what is hidden in my conscious and unconscious mind,

(05:06):
those secrets hidden from myself that block my growth and intimacy,
where God and others be revealed. Search me, Holy Spirit,
reveal these hidden hurts to me and show me the
areas that must be addressed today. I give you permission
to go to the points of inception of my hurts
and hidden memories that are negatively impacting my life. I

(05:27):
give you access to my heart and mind so that
you may bypass any repression, denial, depression, disassociation, confusion, guilt, shame, condemnation, pride, unforgiveness, anger, fear,
or lies that may be blocking my memories, override any
obstacles that have hindered me or are hindering me from

(05:49):
receiving my freedom. In you, I renounce and counsel the
effects of receiving any accusations and lies and to my mind, body, soul,
and heart. That is contrary to the truth of who
you say that I am. I declare that I lived
my life loved, churished, and adored by you. I receive
in my heart every expression of your love for me.

(06:10):
Because you love me, I am free of all guilt, shame,
and condemnation in Jesus' name. Amen. So we're talking about voices.
We started out on that. Anybody remember anything that stood
out to them from my last session talking about voices?
Which voices are you listening to? Shouldn't you be listening

(06:31):
to you? Or some time what stood out to you
about voices? Yes, ma'am might come in your way. So
listening to God's voice is a centure for a fruitful
purpose life. By paying attention to his guidance, we can
avoid unnecessary pain and step boldly into his plan. How

(06:55):
many of y'all like pain? People got mad at me
when I say I don't like pain. My perspective'ma come
back to you. My perspective is this, if I do
it one time and it hurts, then make a decision
not to do it again, and you don't have to
go through it. Okay. I enjoyed that piece. Go, go
ahead and go.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
I appreciated that activity we opened with last week, where
we were trying to decipher people's voices, and the part
that set out to me was we all got very
quiet to listen and we were anticipating the voice. Sometimes
I'm asking God for stuff and then I just start talking.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Okay, okay, not listening because you're still talking. Okay, okay,
thank you for sharing anybody you got too over here
on the side. Yeah. I like when you said this
voice is consistent with its peace and youth, and it's love.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
So if its voice doesn't have any of those, then
that's not its voice.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Oh okay, all right, yes sir, oh, yes, ma'am.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
I like the part about that you said about don't
worry about anything but pray about everything and get in
the habit of just talking constantly to God about what
it is those voices that you hearing in your head.
You gotta say something out loud to come against that.
You can't think a thought away.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
You gotta open up.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
Your mouth and say something and that prayer and you
always taught us it only takes one scripture. That scripture,
if you've hidden out in your heart, that's the one
you pull out when those thoughts come your way. That's
the scripture that you say, and you say it until
those thoughts leave you.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Amen. Amen? Anybody else got one? Bind? Oh? Just ma'am.
My favorite part was if God inhabits our praise and
who inhabits our complaints? Which one do you want to
build from? Pooh this, ma'am. God is not going to
tell you anything to do negative. Oh m dance, I

(08:58):
see you, mind, I see you credit by mega what
you got? My ability to listen determines the course of
my life. Okay, okay, So I'm talking briefly about hearing
versus listening. Just want to recap on that hearing is
a passive processing perceiving sound. So you are hearing me

(09:20):
right now. But whether you are listening is another thing.
I'm not gonna ask you to turn to your neighbor.
Nothing but listening. Let's see the difference between hearing versus listening.
Listening is an active process of not only hearing sound,
but paying attention to and understanding what is being said.

(09:43):
So if I was asked you what stood out to
you about what I just said, if you were listening,
you would be able to do that. But if you
were just hearing, we see, I'm not gonna put you
on the spot. See see how good that is? See
how good? All right, so let's read the scripture together

(10:04):
and what's the underlying Okay, but yeah already, But but
don't just listen to God's word. You must do what
it says. Otherwise you are only fooling yourself. Have you ever?
You know, after church and you know, we get together

(10:24):
in the little bunches and somebody say what stood out to them?
What stood out to so forth? And then what happens
is you said, well, what stood out to you? And
then they go quiet because they were what Okay, they're
still processing. Okay, okay, thanks for speaking up. For money,
thanks for speaking up. Then it's another scripture in John

(10:45):
chapter ten, verse twenty six through twenty seven, and amplified.
It says, but you do not this is Jesus talking,
but you do not believe me, so you do not
trust and follow me. So in every area of our
life there's areas where we can I be bold enough
to say, don't trust God. So we use that as

(11:06):
the reason why we won't follow him. But do we
tell him that or we just think that he won't notice.
He won't notice. And then he goes on and says,
the sheep that are my own hear my voice, y'all,
hear the word here and listen to me. I know them,
and they follow me. So God knows what we're going

(11:29):
to follow. God knows what we believe. But he also
has planted on the inside of us his nature that
can take us to a different level. It can take
us to a place where we choose to listen this time.
So I went over these last Sunday. Anybody remember, Okay?

(11:52):
So God's voice comes through his words, and Hebrews four
twelve comes through prayer, Philippians for six through seven, and
the Holy Spirit John chapter fourteen, twenty six. So today
we're going to talk about godly counsel Proverbs chapter eleven,
verse fourteen. Boy, I heard y'all jumping up about that
one godly counsel. Let's see what the scripture says. Let's

(12:15):
read this together with our good direction, people lose their way.
The more wise counsel you follow, the better your chances.
But it say follow right, follow right. So if someone
is giving you wise counsel about something, and let me
just be real, if somebody is having serious problems in

(12:39):
a certain area, you don't go to them for counseling
because what will they tell you? Okay, all right, they say,
sir is on this side. All right, So what are
the disadvantages of not listening to God? What are the
disadvantages of listening to God? Because we know that's a choice,

(13:02):
right Jonah? And this is Jonah, chapter one, verse one
through seventeen, and Jonah ignores God's call, ending up in
the belly of the whales. Some call it the well,
some call it the big fish. All I know is
I don't want to go there, so I don't care
what name you want to give it. But he get

(13:23):
ticked off because he wants God wants Jonah to go
and talk to the people, because he wants to him
to tell the people. If you guys continue to live
this way, it's not gonna end. Well. But how many
of us, now being real, want some people to suffer
some time? Okay? All right? Okay, I got a thumb
over on this side, and anybody on this side, I

(13:45):
got a whole hand. Okay, that's what I'm talking about.
And so we don't want nobody to tell them they're
doing wrong, although somebody told us we were doing wrong
because we'll be looking out for you. You got a
praying parents, or you got somebody to pray for you,
grandparents or aunt, uncle, somebody to be praying for you.
And then you wonder how you you missed that, how

(14:08):
you made it out alive, how you didn't go to prison,
how you didn't go to jail. But somebody were praying
for us. But Jonah, he said, well, you know what
I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go a different way.
So do we get in trouble by going the wrong way?
But do we see it as wrong sometimes? Okay, Okay,

(14:30):
I get the man of miked, give me example. Okay,
y'all got I'm just gonna go down that way? Okay, Yeah,
sometimes it's not in that moment. It might be a
while or maybe maybe not ever really could admit that
you did it wrong. Okay from personal experience, pers Okay,
I appreciate John's anybody else want to add to it?

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Okay, Yes, we got a disadvantage of not listening will
prolong our victory.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Okay, so say it again. You gotta diss advantage of
not listening or prolong our victory. Okay, all right, okay,
So Jonah he said, I'm gonna go the other way.
God won't notice.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
You know.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
That's some of the things too. It is that sometime
because people think he up there, he can't sit down here?
But where is it? So by ignoring God's leaves, Jonah
end up, I mean the well ate him or the
big fish, I mean ate him, but didn't kill him.

(15:30):
I mean you ever been in something that you know,
on a ride and you can't get out of it,
can't get I mean it's like you changed your mind
after you got on it and it started to go up. Said,
I mean, how many y'all experience that? Cause you realize
as it's going up that you got on the wrong ride.
And then you we think that we can holler to

(15:50):
the person way down there, stop it, stop it now.
You got on this ride. You chose to get on
the ride. And then you think to yourself, well, Mamma
told me not to go. But do you ever go
back and tell you Mama, she told you not to go, Mom,
you were right, I was wrong. How many times do
we go to somebody say they were right and we
were wrong? Oh? I say, never back there who else? Occasionally?

(16:15):
But decide holy over here? So much to step over
here for a second? What about the holy side? Do
we ever go back occasionally? Okay? Okay, huh now did
on the way to church? All right, nan, you I
appreciate your honesty. Okay, So you forgive once you get
to church? Okay, all right? All right? So you in

(16:37):
this well and you can't get out. But see the
Dambaut Jodaphan. He don't know he gonna get out because see,
see we talk God about what he does. So he
thought it was over. He didn't know that God was
gonna get him out, let him out. So what did

(16:59):
that do? It was an unnecessary detour? How many unnecessary
detours do we take? We believe in God for something?
He's opening up the door. But what if And I'm
just saying what if? To us? He added one more
step that we didn't plan for, one more step, and

(17:20):
we decide we're going to do it different. Get it
swallowed by the well. It don't say how long he
stayed in there. Do you think it smelled a little bit?
You think he saw some dead people in there? Dead things? Okay?
So what you consider that an unnecessary detour. What you

(17:42):
consider that a hardship? I would, So what happens if
if we listen to God's voice? It helps align us
with his plan? Because if God is God, wouldn't you
rather have be doing his plan than yours? After you

(18:03):
get in trouble, Let's see what else happened by this.
Disadvantages of not listening to God, vulnerability to deception, which
deception lies, trickeries, whatever, a lot. Well, well you know

(18:30):
I had to go down to Itam and Eve. This
is Genesis chapter three, verse one through six. Now God
told him you can eat anything, just this not this
this true. Now you got a whole bunch of stuff
to choose from. But are we the type of people
we want what we can't have? So that's in Genesis

(18:55):
three one through six, the snake talking to Now I
try to rationalize this. When I read about the snake
talking to I mean I realized that, you know, they're
the first people on the earth, so to speak, And
all of a sudden God talked to you and told

(19:15):
you what to eat and what you couldn't eat. You've
never seen the planet like this before. And there's a
whole bunch of stuff now, you know, you're smelling stuff,
you're seeing stuff. That's how you're going to some place
you've never been. But they say, don't go that way.
I mean, it says on the sign, don't go that way.
Why we go that way? I'm just asking. Somebody said pride,

(19:38):
who said pride pri tell them what pride do, and
that example might come in your way. Hold on a second,
Pride would say, what h end up in death? Okay? Ooh, yeah,
that's the only place that's gonna take you. Okay, okay,
not only physical death, but death and areas, relationships, okay, everything, okay,

(19:59):
all right, back right in the past. In the past
out of curiosity because I want to know why you
told me no. So that's my reason. Okay. And nobody
turned around look at either. I'm gonna look because if
I turned around and looked, then it might be I'm
thinking the same way. All right, But all men kind

(20:27):
changed based off that disobedience. Everything changed. So sometime when
we miss things because we want to do it our way,
we change a whole lot of situations, not only ours,
but others who trusted, others who saw us, because you know,
if we leaders, then people gonna follow us. Most of

(20:48):
the time, and so everything was changed just by that
one act of disobedience. They already were what Safety was
trying to tell them that they wasn't. They were already Gods,
have you ever listened to something and realized how as

(21:08):
you look back, what it really meant, what it really did,
what they were afterse Turn to your neighbor for a second.
Just tell your neighbor, neighbor, I just want to let
you know, not everybody like you, not everybody want to
see you win. I mean, I mean not everybody want
to see you win. So you ask them how do

(21:32):
I get the such and such? And they'll tell you
go right here and make it right, where in reality
they know you go right here and make a left.
They don't want to see you on time for the interview,
they don't want to see you on time for that relationship.
They don't want to see you on time making it
and prospering. And that's what the snake was telling. How

(21:54):
you already above him, but you just gave all that away.
What do you need to repent of about giving away
what God blessed you with? Just a question, because not
knowing God's truth leads us to what liars, lies, not

(22:18):
only lies, but sin. When we disobey God, we automatically
enter into sin. But then who will we cry out to?
Vulnerability to deception Number three, we're talking about disadvantages to
not listening to God. King saw losing his peace. He

(22:45):
made a decision. He rejected God's guidance. This is in
First Seminary, chapter sixteen, verse fourteen. See the Israelites. They
had a process by which they listened, and as a
result of being able to listen, King Saul didn't want

(23:06):
to hear Samuel. Samuel was in charge of the spiritual
components of God. So when Saul made a decision, I'm
tired of waiting on Samuel. Because Samuel was going to
be the one who was going to say, Okay, we're
going to give an offering to God, which was his job.

(23:32):
But because Saul was king, he made a decision. I'm
tired of waiting on him. Now, the reason why Samuel
was waiting was because he was waiting on instruction from
God about how to do it, when to do it,
and why to do it this way. So because you King,
he said, I tell you what, I'm gonna do my

(23:53):
own thing. Because Samuel he can't talk to me about
me doing it wrong because I'm over him. All I
gotta do speak the word and he'll be killed. But see,
Saul didn't realize. Saul didn't realize that his kingdom was
gonna be his position would be taken away. I mean,

(24:16):
how bad can it be just to disobey this one time?
Some of us still suffering from that disobedient one time.
I'm gonna look at the exercise that way. Nobody can
say I talked about them, but I wanted to give
you the disadvantage of what he did. Not only it

(24:42):
changed his heart and it changed his mind. Because sometime
when we get corrected, we just instead of growing from it,
we are resistant to it. Instead of us asking whose spirit?
Why did that person tell me this? No, what we

(25:03):
do is who do they think they are? Because I'm
above them. He might be in that position, But what
about your heart? What about your mind? How has it
been thinking? Since we failed in a certain area, do
we go back and work with that area or do

(25:25):
we just put it to the side. I'll go past
it and I'll do it another way. It didn't work
for Usaul, and it won't work for us. What about
mis blessings. How many of us been leaving God for
a blessing and we're missing it? That's okay, at least

(25:46):
you raise your hand. It's an example of the risky
young ruler. Now, y'all know that guy Mark chapter ten,
verse seventeen to twenty two. See some things. We don't
need to run up and tell people. Not ready to mature,
we're not ready to grow. So he runs up and
tell Jesus, Jesus just want to let you know I

(26:08):
follow all the commandments. I do everything that you say
to do, and I do this and this and this,
and I want you to know that I did this,
this and this, I mean name it. You ever had
something to talk to somebody got a list for you
about all they did this God g looked by the
funny this morning. But anyway, I ain't trying to talk
to y'all about this. So he goes up and so

(26:30):
Jesus listen to him. Y'all, y'all ever heard a person
listen to you and then they say, but one thing
he said, I tell you what jesusaid, tell you what
sell all that you have, and then come follow me.
How many of us know Jesus lost us all right, man,
I only got two people reading that, all of us guilty.

(26:51):
But see this, this the thing right here, Jesus is
saying to him, what all that you have is where
you worship, that's your God. And so Jesus is telling him,
if you would be willing to release that, then I
know where I stand with you. So are we willing

(27:13):
to give away what he gave us? If he told
us to, I say, ninety nine point nine nine nine
percent of us will say no, okay, But he tells
them disobedience lead us to miss opportunities, both spiritual and natural.

(27:36):
Disobedience leads us to miss out on opportunities both spiritual
and material. Because see, some people tell you that you
can't be a Christian and prosper. That's not accurate. You're
just not supposed to worship what you're getting. So what

(28:01):
do y'all think happened with that? Do you think he
hung around, stayed around bragging some more? Where y'all think
he did? Jesus standing in the same position, in the
same place where you're talking to the guy, and the
guy walks on. But how many y'all know that he
didn't walk slow? What do you think you think he

(28:21):
walks through when somebody asks you to give away all
this you have, you think you're gonna be walking slow
or you think of it. I gotta get out of here, buddy.
What el what he might have asked me to show him?
And let's talk about the advantages, y'all ready for some advantages? Okay?

(28:46):
Number one guide it most of the leading the Israelites
out of Egypt. That's Exodus chapter three, verse seven through ten.
Now you got a lot of stuff going on. It's
a whole bunch of people that he had a whole
bunch how many y'all know how many? It was just
a rough millions, thousands, hundreds of thousands, huh, millions too many.

(29:11):
But this the challenge. I mean, he was just a
regular dude that God called on, just like we are
regular people that God called on. Are you amazed? Sometime
when you minister or and I'm not just talking about
church ministry, I'm just talking about life ministry. Will somebody

(29:32):
asked you about something and you're able to tell them
and you know it didn't come from you, and you've
been pretty cool with the day, you at normal in
front of them, But then when you leave it. I
know me. I'm crying. I'm like, Lord, wow, what did
you get that from? But Moses he led these people,
and I mean he caught it. I'm tired of the

(29:54):
sun because you know, we can complain when God asking
us to do something that we don't want to do.
We wanted to stay back there and be a slave.
But all of a sudden, God has told me, mo,
this is this is how this thing needs to get
to be. You know, I'm gonna make sure that the
weather you covered in this in the when it's too hot,

(30:16):
and you cover it when it's too cool at night.
God thought about us, He thought about that. But I'm
telling you, but what happens God listening to God's voice
gives direction in life complexities. You will know what to do.

(30:36):
You know, you you're in this position, they ask you
about the finances, well, what about such and such salary?
And God will tell you, no, you can bump there.
I got you covered. Ask the whether to take the
job or not, y'all ready for this, or to marry
that person or not? Oh oh oh, I'm gonna look

(30:56):
at the exercise. We don't want to hear that because
we chose that person I'm just giving you all moment
he tried to warn us. Not only did God want him,
but he send other people to try to warner. He

(31:17):
might even send the enemy to tell you that. No, no, man,
you know I've been watching you for a while. You
look like he was on track with a whole bunch
of stuff. Why why are you going this way? But
most of it didn't feel like he was making any mistake.
But God is our guidance. He knows which direction to

(31:37):
go in, when to go in. I mean, and please
get to understand that you don't have to pray, find
to pray. Sometimes some of us got prayer life and
the point where we are in prayer ministry. But you
can talk to God quickly. Oh, I mean you think

(31:58):
about help me? How long is that? How far did
