Speaker 1 (00:03):
Nothing I'm gonna talk about today is more important than this.
It's Friday, Welcome to your weekend. Almost. I mean, it's
right around the corner. We can see it, we can
smell it. It's gonna be fantastic. But some news to
go through. What the heck is the world throwing at
us today? Some of it's ridiculous, some of it's great news,
some of it's insane, none of it boring. Though, I'm
gonna start off with a story about Gina Carano and
(00:24):
you're thinking, oh, Bill, you'd like to talk about celebrities.
I know, I know. Whatever. A massive win and this
does matter, A massive win against the Disney Company for
this lady that's been fighting this for buh is it
three years? Four years? I don't know if it's going
going on a while though, huge, huge win for free speech.
We'll talk about that. DC will be cleaned up. The
(00:45):
Trump administration is dead serious about this, and it's important
that it's happening in DC because that'll mean they're dead
serious about cleaning up the streets in all the other
major American cities. But it's got to start symbolically, and
because they're right there in d C, which is huge, huge,
This is the most controversial thing happening today. No more
junk food and food stamps which are now called snap
(01:06):
benefits because you know, foodstamps set a negative connotation. That
may change your thinking on this because I'm against government
overreach too. But what if it's not about government overreach?
What if it's more about your tax dollars? That and
we'll wrap it up with a silly Canada story. Canada
has banned walking. Now you're thinking, oh, wow, you just
(01:27):
you're making up a goofy headline for hyperbole to get
attention and clicks. No, they've banned walking in the woods.
This is why you can't be like Canadians, especially Nova Scotians,
because they're too nice. That's how this kind of stuff happens. Anyway,
let's get to it. Business first. Thanks for front of
the live stream podcast Wicked Radio, all part of Wicked
Wisdom with Bill Adams and all your favorite or not
(01:49):
so favorite social media channels and the audio podcast listeners.
Thanks for pressing subscribe and download. I appreciate you as always.
Let's get to it. We're gonna get to that's right.
Oh yeah, Oh I'm leading off with a celebrity story,
an actress, a Hollywood story because it actually matters for everybody.
Gina Carrano, you may know her quite a life, actually
quite a career. She was an Mma fighter, started off
(02:13):
with that, she's an actress. Now she's a freedom fighter.
I don't know if you remember the background of the story.
She made it into a Disney which took over Star
Wars film with the Mandalorian. Remember the Mandalorian show Pedro Pascal,
Little Baby, Yoda, Groc As it turns out, huge hit.
She was in the first season of a huge hit.
(02:33):
Massive ratings, just skyrocketed her at the top of American consciousness.
It was fantastic. Well, then all hold on. She made
the mistake of putting her opinions out on what at
the time was Twitter. And that's very very relevant to
the story. What I'm gonna tell you here now, how
(02:54):
did she get fired? What exactly did she do to
get fired? Number one? And also blacklisted, blackbault out of
Hollywood and especially with Disney. Well, as it turns out,
she was fired from Disney and Lucasfilm, which Disney bought
for her role as Cara Doone and The Mandalorian. February
of twenty twenty one. It's been that long now. She
(03:16):
had made some controversial statements about pronouns, people using pronouns
at the time, Remember twenty twenty one, this was just
about the height of the wokeness happening right now, right,
And she also made a statement that compared treatment of
conservatives like her in Hollywood to Jews during the Holocaust.
(03:37):
Kind of a strong statement for her to make, a
little bit over the top. Oh yeah, yeah, oh absolutely
a lot over the top. Well, that got her fired,
that got her band, that got her sent into oblivion.
And compare before we even get to the rest of
the story, compare it to this. At the time, the
(03:59):
statements that being made by political statements, just like she
did by her co star in The Mandalorian Pedro Pascal,
some other specifically Star Wars Disney people and Marvel Disney people.
Mark Hamill no problem with his political statements, right, Mark
Ruffalo's another one. He was in the Avengers franchise, which
(04:19):
Disney also owns. They never got in trouble, so she
launched a lawsuit against Disney and she won. Now not
in the courts. And this is relevant to the story too.
It's important to realize. Terms of the settlement are undisclosed.
Monetarily we don't know, but it reportedly also comes with
(04:41):
job offers from Disney, and they never do that now. Reportedly,
according to Variety, which is the publication of record for
the Hollywood industry, they always have these stories. Also part
of this is none of the emails from Disney to
Gina Carano would be revealed. That's part of the edlem
the two reportedly, that tells you that this was really bad.
(05:03):
They targeted her specifically, and if she didn't have some
help on this, she never would have won. So here's
her announcement. I have come to an agreement with Disney Lucasfilm,
which I believe is the best outcome for all parties.
I want to extend my Here's the interesting part. I
want to extend my deepest, most heartfelt gratitude. Two you think,
say the fans family, Her lawyer.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
No.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
First person she thanks and I didn't know this is
Elon Musk. Hold On, she says, a man I've never
met who did this good SamArt indeed for me in
funding my lawsuit, I had no idea. Thank you, mister
Musk and X for backing my case and asking for
nothing in return. Blah blah blah. I like to think
everybody else is blah blah blah. Yes, I'm smiling. This
(05:47):
was a big reason. This is why this is important
for all of us, not just her personally, not just
freedom of speech, but believe Orna goes beyond that. This
was a big reason. The ridiculous iveness of this was
a big reason why Elon bought Twitter forty four million
bucks billion bucks, remember that, and turned it into X.
(06:07):
This was one of the ridiculous things that outraged him
and he said this has to stop, and he picked
it up. Now, I didn't know he funded the lawsuit,
but I do remember at the time he was outraged
by this. That end they banned the Babylon B remember that.
So he must like and he loves the Babylon B
satire account on X. Now that's how he got involved
with this. I didn't know he funded the lawsuit, but
(06:29):
he was major in getting this done. Now, if this
entire fight hadn't happened, if she didn't fight back with
a lawsuit, does he still buy Twitter and turn it
into X which had all kinds of implications, which, whether
you like it or not, had a major, major effect
on Trump winning his second term because people could find
out the news on X again. It was a huge,
(06:49):
huge turning point for people getting information because god knows,
we were not getting it through mainstream media. That's for
damn sure. So all of this, all of this combined together,
is a big win or for Gina Carano. I feel
good for her because she has a right to say
her opinions online or not, just like everybody else does
in Hollywood. But it's a win for everybody else too,
(07:10):
because the result of this thing means a lot more
companies are gonna not be as punitive against somebody else's
opinions because this is just one of those things. Disney
is still that powerful, as ridiculous as they've become, So
goes Disney, so goes the rest of the entertainment industry.
So they learned a major lesson with this. Will it stick,
(07:33):
will it stay? I don't know, maybe maybe not. Maybe
down the road they'll still do stupid things. But a
huge win for her. Good for her, she kept up
the fight. That's fantastic. All right. Here's the most controversial
story of the day. No more junk food in food stamps.
I know, you can't say food stamps anymore. Snap benefits
the acronym because food stamps had a negative connotation, so
(07:55):
they change the name. But you know what we're talking about,
food stamps public assistance for what are supposed to be
necessary nutritious items to feed you and your family if
you have them. Right, major changes to this. Let's go
to Brooke Rawlins for the announcement and she's been all
over the place doing media interviews, media hits, this big
press conference. Now she's the Agriculture secretary in charge of this.
(08:17):
Now that was the first big step, but this is
basically what she's outlining and the change is coming to
this and how the tax pair you, me, and everybody
else is not going to be funding junk food. Now
this leads into a pretty contentious debate about government overreach.
I'm with you. I think you're the same way too.
I'm pretty much against the government telling me what I
(08:39):
can eat by say do whatever. But what if you're
paying for it? What if this just isn't a government
overreach issue. What if this affects all of us and
the health in the nation, Because let's not forget the
cost you're also paying for health care for people that
don't eat healthy down the road's hear her press conference first,
(08:59):
and then you.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
It's my confirmation our Department has encouraged states to think
differently and creatively about how to solve the many health
issues facing Americans. One way is by not allowing taxpayer
funded benefits to be used to purchase unhealthy items like soda, candy,
and other junk food. The number one purchase by SNAP
(09:20):
recipients is sugary drinks.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
All right, now, consider that right now, Just reframe this
and think of it in a different way. What if
this just isn't about the government deciding what people can
eat and buy, even if it is public's assistance. So
what if this is a major Think of it this way.
Reframe it major national security issue. Base think of it
no one, you know, nobody in the media, in your
(09:47):
personal life, at work, anybody. Nobody is going to argue
with the fact it's proven. Now, nobody's going to argue
against the fact that eating this crep work, eating this poison,
year after year after year leads to major health problems,
major behavioral problems. They've done study after study for most
(10:08):
people there are on either on death row or serving
really bad life sentences in prison, and they ask them
about what they ate, what they grew up with, and
it was all crap and all garbage. Of course. So
if you think of it that way, does that change
your reframe? Does that change your mind on whether or
not they have a right to decide what's in the
food they're buying with food snamps? Sorry, Snap benefits. It
(10:31):
does for me. And now this isn't just just Snap
benefit benefits or people that receive that kind of funding.
This is everybody. So I'm not singling them out. Next
time you're at a grocery store, right, talk about this
issue that they're onto now with Maha and Bobby Kennedy.
Next time you're at a grocery store, just instead of
your own basket, just look around at any typical family
(10:53):
because we're all relearning this stuff. Any typical family, and
some of the crap that's in the basket, any major
retail store, anything could be anywhere. Junk in the crap,
in the sugar, in the garbage. It has major major
effects on everybody, not just to cost down the road,
but just society. All of it matters. Think of it
(11:15):
that way, do you think now, maybe maybe you have
a right as a taxpayer to decide that. No, if
I'm paying for your food benefits, I think I actually
do get to say in what you're buying with it,
she said, right there, they do have the numbers, they've
done the research, they've done the study before they came
out with this. Number one purchase with SNAP benefits is
(11:38):
junk food and sugary drinks. If I'm buying your meal,
I actually get to decide what you're having. Sorry, I
just do. I know this kind of doesn't jive with
you don't want too much government overreach. I'm with you,
and that's where the debate comes in. But when you
think of it in terms of a national health crisis issue,
kind of changes update on that, states are on board
(12:01):
and more coming by the way. Bottom line is what
I'm trying to say is this is going to change
this forever and down the road, down the road, this
is going to be a lot healthier for the country.
It just is. Because we all know. Let's talk about
it in real life, in the real world and how
it works. Sometimes you have to make the decision for them.
For people, you just have to They're not going to
do it on their own. They've got decades and decades
(12:23):
of studies and research to look at what kinds of
food has been bought with food stamps and or SNAP benefits,
and it's not good. Overall, it's not good. And if
you were eating healthy way on this, you know you
don't want to pay it. Paint everybody into the same corner.
If you were eating healthy on Snap benefits, it's not
going to affect you. So what's the problem. You know,
(12:44):
And I know you've seen. I know you've probably been
on Instagram or Facebook or TikTok and people complaining about it.
Why do they get decided what do I eat? Because
you're not paying for it? We are, That's why. And
it has major major costs down the road, either in
healthcare or in crime. Stafle just does food equals behavior.
We know this now. Nobody argues against that. So I'm
(13:06):
all in speaking of crime stats, WHOA, they are dead
serious about cleaning up crime on the streets. We all
know the stories that have been here recently. Cincinnati, we
had the couple beaten by the mob and that Lady
Hawley is speaking out now. Any typical news story you
see in New York City or Chicago, or La or
Boston or anything. Washington, DC is particularly bad, maybe the
(13:31):
worst out of all of them, out of all of
our American cities, and it's right down the street from
the White House. Symbolically also strategically because they can gain
control of this. It's been a lot of talk this
week about federalizing Washington, DC. On the streets. National Guards
just standing on corner because the member DC one of
the first cities to defund the police. How stupid was that?
(13:51):
And a slap on the wrist, and street gangs can
run rampant in our nation's capital, which is still by
the way, because it's the nation's capital in major tourist destination.
If we're going to clean up crime on the streets,
it's got to start in a nation's capital, and I
think it is guys though. Trump administration is dead serious
(14:12):
about cleaning up the streets. Now we know about US
Attorney for DC because they have their own US attorney,
because it's the district Judge, Janine Piro. She's there to
clean up the streets and to fix that city, and
she's going to already. But it's not just her. And
this is why I tell you this administration is dead
serious about it. We've heard her a lot, but let's
(14:33):
go to Stephen Miller, Trump advisor talking about DC itself.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
The President has been very clear that he's going to
take the action necessary to secure the city of Washington
for the people who live here, for all the American
people and all who visit here is our capital city.
It is more violent then Baghdad. It is more violent
than parts of Ethiopia and parts of many of the
most dangerous places in the world. It's really shocking if
you should look at the graph that has been shown
(14:57):
comparing parts of some of the mo dangerous fild states
in the world compared to d C.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
More dangerous than Bad Dad. What is he talking about. Uh,
he's not kidding. They published some of the crime stats
obviously to you know, get some more support for this
entire thing, and they had capital homicide rates capitals of
countries across the world, cities like Mexico City, and they
did it per thou hundred thousand people, So homicide rates
(15:24):
per one hundred thousand in all these cities. Mexico City
eight per hundred thousand, Bogata, Colombia eleven per hundred thousand,
Havana four per hundred thousand, Lima PERU seven per hundred thousand.
These are capital homicide rates. You know what it is
in DC. Compare that to eight seven five four Washington
(15:49):
d C, our nation's capital, the homicide rate is forty
one per one hundred thousand people. You can't have it. Oh,
of course he can't have it. And this is why
they're so dead ass serious about this as well as
we all know. By now we know what Trump is.
Let we know he's big into symbolism because it's a
(16:11):
big part of his persuasion technique. Right Symbolically, Washington, d C.
Being one of the unsafest cities in the world is
not a good look and he knows that, right, So
why not start at home and clean it up there?
And I gotta tell you it was looking that way
earlier in the week when they started talking about federalizing
Washington d C. I would be shocked if it didn't happen. Now,
(16:32):
absolutely shocked. You're gonna have National Guard troops taking over
for DC cops at directing things. They know we're in
charge now at these little street punks. Oh and that
ones that beat up Big Balls the other night, remember him,
Big Balls? From Doge. Yeah, he's still in the hospital.
That was right in the streets of Washington, d C.
Just another story that's putting this thing over the finish line.
(16:53):
They are going to clean this up, and here's the
after effect. They still have three years left in this administration.
Do not be shocked. And if you see a lot
of other cities getting federalized this way. Oh and here's
the pushback already. It won't be about the crime, right, No,
it won't be about that. Yeah, but the lefties will say, oh,
he's a dictator, he's sending the army to the troops.
(17:14):
You know, they'll ignore the crime. They'll ignore the policies
that they voted in place to let these street gangs
run loose, slap on the wrist, nobody even has to
make bail, and they're out in the street within hours
doing it again. They won't talk about that. They'll just
talk about the presence of cleaning up the streets. So
get ready for the pushback. Ignore it and if you
(17:35):
have to mock it, because it's time. It's going to
start Washington, DC and then every other major city in
the country. They're going to clean this crap up, and
they should they one should good glad to see it.
It's got to stop, all right. I'm gonna send you
in the weekend with a ridiculous story that you should
also mock because what we don't ever want to be
(17:55):
is Canada. I'm sorry my Canadian friends. I know I've
got a few few of you listeners actually that are Canadian,
and I'm sorry you're dealing with this, but you probably
are outraged by it just as much. I mean, they
the ban on free speech. See, they don't have like
a Gina Carano fighting for it. That's not happening over there.
The ban on social media posts very strong with censorship.
(18:16):
Their citizens are getting taxed up the wazoo. They have
less and less rights. Just awful. Well, they've taken it
a step further Canada, specifically Nova Scotia. I've got a
lot of family roots in Nova Scotia. My wife likes
to call me Canadian. She's wrong, You're wrong about that. Sorry.
(18:39):
They've banned walking in the woods, that's right now at
the outsetting. And to say why, well, it's because they've
got a dry season and it's drought and they don't
want to start fires. And it's always in you know,
it's not always an outward reason that seems to make sense. Right,
but instead of cleaning up the woods like like like California,
not taking clearing out the underbrush, which would make this
(18:59):
pro you know, clearing out some branches, which would be
a lot of good. Note they always throw it on
the citizens and in walking trails throughout the province of
Nova Scotia, they've banned walking and walking trails and hiking trails.
That's right, you don't believe me. Here's the report. A
leisurely walk in the woods is no longer allowed in
Nova Scotia, and it may not be for the rest
(19:20):
of the summer. Effective four pm today, we're telling Nova
Scotians stay out of the woods. Nova Scotia's premier announced
today a ban on activities in the forest because of
extreme dry conditions and the risk of wildfires. Hiking, camping, fishing,
and the use of vehicles in the woods are not permitted. Now, listen,
we've got some bad Blue states and blue cities here
(19:42):
who have massively stupid decisions. We all know that Red
states too. It just happens. But how here's the takeaway.
How easily they were able to institute this is the
real story and this is what you don't want to
do now. I was watching a lot of the follow
up stories on this just to see the I'm like,
why are these how did Novas Scottions, how of these Canadians?
How are they taking this? And of course somemboprom are going, oh,
(20:03):
you know, that's not geez gee whiz, that's not a
oh gee, I'm gonna miswalking with my dog. That's not
too good. Ranging from that too, well, I don't like it,
but yeah, you know, I guess it's necessary. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Another one I saw the other day said, well, whatever
they want, you know, we'll We'll just wait until till
it's sub zero temperatures again and then I'm sure we
(20:24):
can walk again. That's how they get away with something
that's ridiculous and not doing their job as park services
or whatever the hell else they are to take care
of the underbrush and to take care of fire prevention.
That's how they're able to get away with this because
nobody's pushing back. Canadians are too nice. This is why
you can't be nice. You can't be nice when something
stupid happens. You've got to fight absurdity with absurdity, and
(20:46):
you have to be an absolute bastard and pushback on
this kind of stuff. That's our American mindset. That's what
we are. That's why we're not Canada. Do we have problems, Hell,
yes we do, but we're not sitting there going, oh yeah,
well they're abandoned walking. Yeah, that's well, I guess it's
kind of necessary. I'll just go I'll just behave. Sometimes
you can't behave when something is stupid happens. You've got
to be able to push back. Otherwise, what else are
(21:08):
they going to ban? Canada has banned going outside. Oh
I'm sorry, wait a minute, I meant that to be
a joke, but it's not. They already did that. Remember COVID.
You thought you were living in some kind of a
state or city with bad COVID rules. Multiply bat by
a thousand, and you have Canada. That's what it is.
You can't ever allow this kind of thing to happen.
And it starts with mocking it, making fun of it,
(21:29):
and pushing back. We won't do our job, we won't
clear out the underbrush and the walking trails. We'll just
put they literally put yellow police tape around the entrances
to trails and walking things and you can't walk there. Guys,
we don't ever want to be Canada. Ever. You've got
to push back enough of that. I'm out of material
and you've got to get into your weekend. Thanks for
(21:49):
