WNBR (Wednesday Night Bible Read) Podcast™ isn't a Bible study. It isn't an Bible exposition. It isn't an in-depth guide to understanding the Bible. It's not a teaching of the Bible.
As Pastor Chuck Smith would say, “The best Bible teaching is not that which dazzles people with the profound intellect of their teacher, but that which puts its truth squarely in their hands.”

(00:44):
and tonight we're coming from Second Chronicles, chapter nine. Second Chronicles, chapter
nine. When the Queen of Shebaheard of Solomon's fame, she came to
Jerusalem to test him with hard questions. Arriving with a very great caravan with

(01:07):
camels carrying spices, large quantities ofgold, and precious stones, she came
to Solomon to talk with him aboutall she had on her mind. Solomon
answered all her questions. Nothing wastoo hard for him to explain to her.
When the Queen of Sheba saw thewisdom of Solomon, as well as
the palace he had built, thefood on his table, the seating of

(01:30):
his officials, the attending servants intheir robes, the cupbearers in their robes,
and the burnt offerings he made atthe temple of the Lord, she
was overwhelmed. She said to theKing, the report I heard in my
own country about your achievements and yourwisdom is true. But I did not

(01:51):
believe what they said until I cameand saw with my own eyes. Indeed,
not even half the greatness of yourwisdom was told me. You have
exceeded the report I heard. Howhappy your people must be, how happy
your officials who continually stand before youand hear your wisdom. Praise be to
the Lord your God, who hasdelighted in you and placed you on his

(02:15):
throne as king to rule for theLord, your God. Because of the
Lord, because of the love ofyour God for Israel, and his desire
to uphold them forever, he hasmade you king over them to maintain justice
and righteousness. Then she gave theking one hundred talent one hundred and twenty

(02:36):
talents of gold, large quantities ofspices and precious stones. There had never
been such spices as those the Queenof Sheba gave to King Solomon the servants
of him, and the servants ofSolomon brought gold from Ophir. They also
brought algamwood and precious stones. Theking used the algamwood to make steps for

(03:00):
the temple of the Lord and forthe royal palace, and to make hearts
and liars for the musicians. Nothinglike them had ever been seen in Judah.
King Solomon gave the Queen of Shebaall that she desired and asked for.
He gave her more than she hadeven brought to him. Then she

(03:21):
left and returned with her retinue toher own country. The weight of the
gold that Solomon received yearly was sixhundred and sixty six talents, not including
the revenues brought in by merchants andtraders. Also, all the kings of
Arabia and the governors of the territoriesbrought gold and silver to Solomon. King

(03:43):
Solomon made two hundred large shields ofhammered gold. Six hundred shekels of hammered
gold went into each shield. Healso made three hundred small shields of hammered
gold, with three hundred shekels ofgold in each shield. The king put
them in the palace the forest ofLebanon. Then the king made a great
throne covered with ivory and overlaid withpure gold. The throne had six steps,

(04:09):
and a footstool of gold was attachedto it. On the sides of
the seat were armrest with the lionstanding beside each of them. Twelve lions
stood on the six steps, oneat either end of each step. Nothing
like it had ever been made forany other kingdom. All King Solomon's goblets

(04:30):
were gold, and all the householdarticles in the palace of the Forest Elebanon
were pure gold. Nothing was madeof silver, because silver was considered of
little value. In Solomon's day.The king had a fleet of trading ships,
manned by hiring servants. Once everythree years it returned carrying gold,

(04:50):
silver and ivory, and apes andbaboons. King Solomon was greater riches in
wisdom than all all the other kingsof the earth. All the kings of
the earth sought audience with Solomon tohear the wisdom God had put in his
heart. Year after year, everyonewho came brought a gift articles of gold,

(05:13):
silver and gold, and robes, weapons and spices, and horses and
mules. Solomon had four thousand stallsfor horses and chariots, and twelve thousand
horses, which he kept in thechariot cities, and also with him in
Jerusalem. He ruled over all thekings from the Euphrates River to the land
of the Philistines as far as theborder of Egypt. The king made silver

(05:39):
is common in Jerusalem, as stonesand cedar, as plentiful as sycamore fig
trees in the foothills. Solomon's horseswere imported from Egypt and from all other
countries. As as for the otherevents in Solomon's reign from beginning to end,
are they not written in the secondin the records of Nathan the Prophet,

(06:02):
in the prophecy of Ahijah the Sheilanite, and the visions of Ito the
Seer concerning Jereboam, son of Nibat. Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel
forty years. Then he rested withhis ancestors and was buried in the city
of David. His father and Rajboam, his son, succeeded him as king.
