WNBR (Wednesday Night Bible Read) Podcast™ isn't a Bible study. It isn't an Bible exposition. It isn't an in-depth guide to understanding the Bible. It's not a teaching of the Bible.
As Pastor Chuck Smith would say, “The best Bible teaching is not that which dazzles people with the profound intellect of their teacher, but that which puts its truth squarely in their hands.”

(00:46):
tonight we're coming from Mark chapter four. Mark chapter four is where we be
reading from again. Jesus began toteach by the lake. The crowd that
gathered around him was so large thathe got into a boat and sat in

(01:08):
it out on the lake. Whileall the people were along the shore at
the water's edge. He taught themmany things by parables, and in his
teaching said listen. A farmer wentout to sow his seed. As he
was scattering the seed, some fellalong the path, and the birds came

(01:29):
and ate it up. Some fellon rocky places where it did not have
much soil. It sprang up quicklybecause the soil was shallow, But when
the sun came up, the plantswere scorched and they withered because they had
no root. Other seed fell amongthorns, which grew up and choked the

(01:49):
plants, so that they did notbear grain. Still, other seed fell
on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop. I'm
multiplying thirty some, sixty some onehundred times. Then Jesus said, whoever
has ears, let him hear. When he was alone, the twelve and

(02:10):
the others around him ask him aboutthe parables. He told them, the
secret of the Kingdom of God hasbeen given to you. But those on
the outside everything but to those onthe outside, everything is in parables,
so that they may be ever seeingbut never perceiving, and ever hearing but

(02:34):
never understanding. Otherwise they might turnand be forgiven. Then Jesus said to
them, do you understand? Don'tyou understand this parable? How then will
you understand any parable? The farmershows the word. Some people are like
seed along the path where the wordis sown. As soon as they hear

(02:58):
it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.
Others, like seed sown on rockyplaces, hear the word and want
at once received it with joy.But since they have no root, they
only last a very short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the
word, they quickly fall away.Still Others, like seed sown among thorns,

(03:23):
hear the word, But the worriesof this life, the defeat,
deceitfulness of wealth, and the desiresfor other things come in and choke the
word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil,
hear the word, accept it andproduce a crop some thirty, some sixty,
some one hundred times what was sown. He said to them, do

(03:47):
you bring in a lamp to putit under a bowl or a bed?
Instead, don't you put it onits stand? For whatever is hidden is
meant to be disclosed, and whateveris concealed is meant to be brought out
into the open. If anyone hasears to hear, let him hear.
Consider carefully what you hear, hecontinued, with the measure you use,

(04:12):
it will be measured to you.And even more, whoever has will be
given more. Whoever does not have, even what they have, will be
taken from them. He also said, this is what the Kingdom of God
is. Like a man scatters seedon the ground night and day, whether
he sleeps or gets up, theseed sprouts and grows, though he does

(04:35):
not know how all by itself. The soil produces grain, first the stalk,
then the head, then the fullkernel in the head. As soon
as the grain is ripe, heputs the sickle to it, because the
harvest has come again. He said, what shall we say the Kingdom of

(04:58):
God is like? Or what parablesshall we use to describe it? It
is like a mustard seed, whichis the smallest of all seeds on earth,
Yet when planted, it grows andbecomes the largest of all garden plants,
with such big branches that the birdscan perch in its shade. With

(05:18):
many similar parables, Jesus spoke theword to them as much as they could
understand. He did not say anythingto them without using a parable, But
when he was alone with his owndisciples he explained everything. That day,
when evening came, he said tohis disciples, let's go over to the

(05:38):
other side. Leaving the crowd behind. They took him along. Just as
he was in the boat, therewere also other boats with him. A
furious squaw came up, and thewaves broke over the boat, so that
it was nearly swamped. Jesus wasin the stern, sleeping on a cushion.
The disciples woke him and said tohim, teacher, don't you care

(06:00):
if we drown? He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the
waves quiet, be still. Thenthe wind died down and it was completely
calm. He said to his disciples, why are you so afraid? Do
you still have no faith? Theywere terrified and asked each other, who
is this? Even the wind andwaves obey him. Thank you for tuning in
