(00:56):
we're going to be coming from tonight, the vision of Obadiah. This is
what the Sovereign Lord says about Eaedom. We have heard a message from the
Lord. An envoy was sent tothe nations to say, rise, let
(01:17):
us go against her for battle.See, I will make you small among
the nations. You will be utterlydespised. The pride of your heart has
deceived you. You who live inthe cliffs of the rocks and make your
home on the heights, You whosay to yourself, who can bring me
(01:38):
down to the ground? Though yousoar like the eagle, and make your
nest among the stars. From thereI will bring you down, declares the
Lord. If thieves came to you, if robbers in the night, oh
what a disaster awaits you? Wouldthey not still only as much as they
(02:00):
wanted. If grape pickers came toyou, would they not leave a few
grapes? But how Esau will beransacked, his hidden treasures pillaged. All
your allies will force you to theborder. Your friends will deceive and overpower
(02:20):
you. Those who eat your breadwill set a trap for you, but
you will not detect it. Inthat day, declares the Lord, will
I not destroy the wise men ofEdom, those of understanding in the mountains
of Esau. Your warriors tamen willbe terrified, and everyone in Esau's mountains
(02:43):
will be cut down in the slaughter. Because of the violence against your brother
Jacob, you will be covered withshame. You will be destroyed forever.
On the day you stood aloof whilestrangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered
his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one of them.
(03:07):
You should not gloat over your brotherin the day of his misfortune, nor
rejoice over the people of Judah intheir day of destruction, nor boast so
much in the day of their trouble. You should not march through the gates
of my people in the day oftheir disaster, nor gloat over them and
(03:29):
their calamity in the day of theirdisaster, nor seize their wealth in the
day of their disaster. You shouldnot wait at the crossroads to cut down
their fugitives, nor hand over theirsurvivors in the day of their trouble.
The day of the Lord is nearfor all nations. As you have done,
(03:52):
it will be done to you.Your deeds will return upon your own
head. Just as you drank onmy holy he ill, so all the
nations will drink continually. They willdrink and drink, and be as if
they had never been. But onMount Zion will be deliverance. It will
(04:13):
be holy, and Jacob will possesshis inheritance. Jacob will be a fire,
and Joseph of flame. Esau willbe stubble, and they will set
him on fire and destroy him. There will be no survivors from Esau.
The Lord has spoken. People fromthe negative will occupy the mountains of Esau,
(04:39):
and people from the foothills will possessthe land of the Philistines. They
will occupy the fields of Ephriem andSamaria, and Benjamin will possess Galleon.
The company of Israelite exiles who arein Canaan will possess the land as far
as Zerophath. The exiles from Jerusalemhert who are in Shapparad will possess the
(05:05):
towns of Negev. Deliverers will goup on Mount Zion to govern the mountains
of Esau, and the kingdom willbe the lords. Thank you for tuning in.
