Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ex President of the Sons of Men, Matt Kintassic X
head Capo, Adam Booth X player and forever a Union
legend Sebastian Latoo. These may be exes, but they're the
experts when it comes to the Philadelphia Union. This is
exes in the U.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Welcome back, everybody. This is episode thirteen X is in
the U. Well, we're bringing you everything in the Union Verse,
including the illustrious wins that we've been getting racking up
all over the place. I am joined a course with
Adam Booth and the legend Sebastian Latwo. Gentlemen, how was
your weekend?
Speaker 3 (00:48):
I was on a boat. It was very nice. I
went to Maryland Chesea. Yeah. I went to a place
called Chesapeake Beach in Chesapeake Bay and rode a boat
for six hours and then drove back in forty five minutes.
It's I realized why boat travel has kind of, you know,
not been a primary mode of transportation for almost one hundred.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
And six years. It's the experience. It's not getting there quickly.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Look there was a motor involved too, and still didn't
get us there efficiently.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
There we go. So, Bastian, you first back from the
Beach from the successful Camp No.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Let's six Food Camp.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
He was great, but it was back Saturday falls a
game and the same time I'm moving out of my house,
so you know, I love Pikings.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
This weekend for me, oh nobody, nobody appreciates packing. But anyhow,
let's get to that game that we talked about, League's
Cup Charlotte. Yeah, Ty Barrebo Union win one. Nothing. What
are our thoughts?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
How quickly is he gonna go up the all time
goals list, because apparently he just wants to score every like,
you know, forty seven minutes he plays at this point,
so it's it's, uh, he's got a knack for the net.
It seems it's That was a I think that was
a really good performance up front. Both the gentlemen up front,
I think played pretty well. You know, I thought there's
(02:06):
a couple opportunities that Sam had in front and front
the net where I was just like, yeah, okay, this
might be uh might be a partnership.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Sam gets the start. Yeah, you know, Sebastian, you called
the game, you were you were watching it more intently
than both Adam and I since I was in the
stands and Adam was on a boat. What were your
thoughts on I.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Mean, he was not the most exciting game.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
He was I think a very good performance on the team,
very professional, you know, get the results, get the win.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
I think he was kind of a little revenge.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
I feel like against Charts that beat us too Zier,
like it was a month and a half ago. I
think the defense did well, you know, especially against a
jim Ango scored two goals. You know, Gladness and Idiot
kind of look be ridiculous the last game against against him,
so they kind of, you know, show him that you
know what's up, and it was kind of like a
(02:56):
off game for.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Both of them. But now they were pretty good.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Gleadsness got a goal with the gas bag at the end,
touching the ball like I make a drug and that
you know, gas Dag probably got a little you know
talking point with the glans say hey, you don't need
to score or because I think the ball was going
to go in the goal even if he didn't touch it.
But I know that I think it was you know,
it was good, good the first three points. Top of
(03:20):
the you know group. You have the game tomorrow against
Crusso and Charlotte, so depending on this they can you know,
be relaxed and say, okay, we're for sure we are second,
or you know, we can go for the first place
and you know, try to beat Cruise as well at
home and play the best team. I think this is
what will happen Sunday, since there's a week you know,
be in the two games. But we'll see. But on
(03:41):
that night, was it was a It was a good game.
It was not like crazy entertaining, you know, not many
dread didn't make me safe, and Charlotte was not really
like pushing, you know. It was kind of okay to
just see it and wait for the counter attack. So like,
I didn't mind all the passes between Glasness and Elliott
Andre because they were not really like pressing.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
But and I know he was.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
He was good Baribo again, you know, back at it.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
I think, you know, it's, uh, this is crazy to
me that we wait a year to see him play,
you know, a full game. I mean, it's uh, I
understand what Jim is saying, but it's yeah, it's.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Great for him.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
I'm very happy for him, and it's great now to
have him. And I didn't run. I think even if
he didn't score but we saw what he can do.
You know from the twenty five minutes he played the
first game, this one starting. You know it's clicking, but
it takes time, but you can see it's confident and
he can definitely score some goals for us.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
He was involved with gast egg On on that goal.
So it's good to see them. And you know, you
knew you were gonna miss Julian, but this is a
nice fit. It gives Jim some depth if and it
looks like Jim's willing to use all three of those guys. Yeah,
I think change the boy.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Yeah, it's gonna be if there's no injury less of
Donovan for sure, so he might play a bit more
or less. But you know it's good for I think,
don't Nevana his chances, but never we took it and
he has the most of the time of and when
Balibo tukis danznois just what you want to ford.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, at some day we're gonna have to talk to Jim,
maybe privately, and find out why why couldn't we have
had Bibo when we had Julian and your A to
see those three competing together, and I was.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
I was thinking about on the way in and I
was thinking to myself it was weird. But you know,
I talked about a couple of weeks ago. I think
when we had drinc Hahla Barnetta, when we had new
players come in and try to get their acclamation into
the team, you know, and into MLS, into playing in
(05:38):
the system, and when you already have too well established strikers,
as these are our two guys, I feel like a
guy like uh a tie looks at that and you
probably try to ease him and slower into that situation
because you also know eventually you're going to sell one
of these gentlemen, you know. And I think the thing
is a great example of why Jim has kind of
(06:02):
a philosophy somewhere on this is you know, he signed,
we get a new signing. Nine days later, he's starting
in the next game that he's available in. And I
believe Jim's like, this guy's played, he's played in our league,
he's played in he's in mid season form. I don't
have to get this guy ready. I don't have to
cook it up, you know. I think there's a combination
(06:25):
of two things we can be really happy about the
results that are happening without necessarily believing that. Man, it's
it's Jim Tomey blocking Ryan Howard all over again. Man,
we have missed out on six months of this if
it wasn't for you know, the Chris Donovan experience. Which
credit to Chris. He scored some good goals for this club,
you know, and he scores some timely ones, but it
seems like he's definitely gonna be taking a backseat to
(06:48):
both of these gentlemen now and rightfully. So there looks
like there's to be a lot more talent up front.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Yeah, it does now. Sebashia mentioned it, and I'll second
that it wasn't the most exciting game that I've been to,
but boy was there's some excitement in the stands. And
I'd love to hear from you at one point if
you noticed anything at all, But Adam were talking about protests, protests,
not the game, not the grotests. Protests. Yeah, so the
(07:18):
Sons of Men had another protest, this time against league's cubs,
which we talked about it in the previous pod. And
I wish I could have put money on what was
gonna happen, because I would have won money. Sean sometimes
you're gonna tell me. Can I put gambling money on
what's gonna happen with supporter groups because maybe it's inside info,
(07:38):
But God, did I not predict what was gonna happens. Yeah,
So twenty ten sing four Leaf Clover team's actually playing
really well and the sons of Ben, the cap was
in the leadership, decided to pack up their stuff and
go yep, and they kind of left, but they really
didn't leave. And with that, as predicted, the Keystone State
(07:58):
Ultras came down from one with their drum and got
on the capo stand and we're leading the cheers. So
that's why you didn't really hear much of a blip
between anything, because it was right after four Leaf Clover.
We just about it. I think we scored in the
twenty second minute, was that thirty something a little bit?
It was a close. There was a there was a
(08:18):
shot on goal that was very close, I think in
the twenty first, twenty second minute. So the crowd was
into it. So that protest kind of fell on deaf ears,
so and and and you were there.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
I didn't notice. I mean, I was focusing on the game.
I know, you know, we took about it.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Something might happen, but I didn't notice, so we would
have been like Mansuining doing the the broadcast.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
We dave so because you didn't hear it.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah, and it's it's one you didn't hear it on TV.
You didn't hear it. Really in the stands, not really
many people left, and some of the ownership leadership still
stuck around. They didn't they weren't on the KAPO stand,
but they went back to their seats to watch the game. So, uh,
it's gonna be curious what they do on Sunday. Are
they going to stick with us? Because they said they
were gonna not participate in the rest of the League's
(09:05):
Cup as a protest, which just opens it up for
Keystone to start in the game, and the Capo stands
with with their drum. It's it's gonna be curious to
see what they decide to do because it was an
ineffective protest except for unveiling one t FO at the
bottom that said we want the Cup, the US Open Cup,
and you could see that from the TV. That was
(09:26):
pretty much the only effective.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Part of this money man, they should put you because
they did.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
It was a smaller one right behind the goal.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Short answer to all of this is no Keyston State
in the Son's event or not in a by like
war with one another. I think what was a moment
was you got to remember most of Keyston State is
made up of former Sons of Bend members themselves, so
they may former capos and such, so they may or
(09:57):
just been like, well, this is a moment, no one's
on the stand. We can you know, utilize ourselves because
prior matches Keyston State wasn't there at all, and the
Suns have been held up and you know.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
I'm going to show up for the Wednesday game and
they are the one that had to sell the team
bounder that was confiscated exactly. So it's not like both
groups are in total disarray, just want to want to
protest different things at different times.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
And we have to also remember that Suns have been
is uh Supporter Council like sanctioned and uh case KSU
is not. And the protest for the League's Cup was
a IOC i C or i C IOC watching International
Columbic Committee the i C. It was a issue of
(10:42):
the whole, like all of the groups in MLS were
supposed to be protesting and so there's levels to this
as well. And the timing of this is particularly interesting
because this protest would have happened if the union were
going well, you know, even if the team was in
first place right now. Presumably this uh Per test was
going to happen because we're always going to protest the
league's cup, and it got conflated with the protest for
(11:08):
you know, the ownership and every other protest that's going
on right now with the team. So it's been a
really sticky moment. But I gotta say this on a
personal note. You win three games and it's crazy to
see how social media clears up a little bit. You know,
it's it's now, and I do believe and I know
people personally who are very adamant about they want Jay
(11:30):
to sell the team, they want change to happen, they
want Ernst or Jim to be fired. Whatever. I understand,
and I've heard all of these people, but it is
really really interesting to me to see the dynamics change
the minute this team puts together a couple of wins,
you know, has their team healthy again, has their you know,
best goalie back again, and the attitudes change, which is
(11:52):
why when we were talking about the protests in the beginning,
I was just like, why would you do this so
quickly when you don't really know what the fate of
this team is at this point. You don't know like,
this isn't one of these moments where we're Everton and
we're like, well, either we get relegated or we barely survive.
This is a thing where things could turn around. So
I thought the protest then was premature and on the
(12:15):
backings of the League's Cup protests, like, look, I don't
agree with the cash grab of the League's Cup. I
don't I understand why you would do it because you're
MLS and you're looking at the US Open Cup and
you're just like, we're not making any money off of that. No,
and we're not feeling up our stands with that.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
You know, they're not even on TV.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
No, it's extreme.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
The US Open Cup. You can't get it on a
television station. So the fault of US Open Cup is
more on US soccer, yeah, than the MLS. But people
want to say, oh US, I mean MLS is the
big corporate evil empire and blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
No, but there is there is some responsibility. You're the
First Division. You need to be doing better relationship with
the US Soccer. But I'm not going to put everything
solely on Major League Soccer. There, look Seba himself. If
it's played in open Cup finals where not the stadium
was full, like Open Cup finals, where we're pushing fourteen
thousand people in an eighteen thousand seed arena, Major League
Soccer is going to look at that and say, what
(13:11):
is the viability of that? When we're sending DC to
play in colleges, when we're sending Red Bull to play
at Montclair because we know we're not going to fill
their stadiums, what is the viability of that? And that's
the point of all this. So no, I don't agree
with it, but I also understand why it's happening in
a capitalistic society. So you know, good on the protest,
(13:32):
I look democracy. Good on the protest if you feel
if it makes you feel that way, write it out,
but you know it's also just have some logic behind
it too.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
All right, we're gonna stop with the protest talk, even
though I had a good quote from JT. But we'll
get in that later League's Cup. We'd said it. We've
got Charlotte on Wednesday versus Cruise A Zuls, so we
get a sneak preview of the opponent. And then Sunday
at eight o'clock it's like a school night. You got
Cruise AZUL at Super Ru Park. Have any any insight
(14:02):
on the Cruise as all? I mean, I think they're
pretty much came out of the gate firing and league
get a max and they look really good for beginning
their year.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
I mean their first with four games, three wins, one tie,
nine goals to score one against one guy we know
it well, it's Georgios Jako Makis, you know the ex
Atlanta for ward do score? Ready for them to go
in the league. So yeah, they're very good. You know,
it's one of the top team all the time in
(14:30):
League m X, so big, big, big test. But let's see,
you know, it's the begin over there for them. So
are they you know fully you know, physically ready to
play you know, two games in like four or five days.
They have to travel as well, so we'll see. But yeah,
definitely a good test of union. After winning three games,
could they get the first player? Be great because if
(14:50):
they do, they can stay at home and play all
the next run.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yeah, and I don't know if you've seen us, but
the schedule for link at four or Super ru Park.
We played on Saturday, yes, they On Sunday the Women played,
Gotham played.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
I saw that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Yesterday, which was Monday, Arsenal.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Had a practice they did.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yes, Today is Tuesday. I don't think anything's going on Wednesday.
DC United has to play their leaguest Cup game, be
fascinating because their field got so torn up from rugby
and some other things. So the field will be used
on Wednesday, and then I guess it might get a
little bit of a break until Sunday when the Union
(15:36):
come back to play against Cruise Azoul. The field didn't
look great Saturday, it did not, so that could be
a factor. This could be Philadelphia Kansas City Chief Super
Bowl with the Sodfather crap again.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Well, I mean, and I'm sure you probably have a quote.
If if not, you know we can dig it up
from the Charlotte coach talking about the situation on the field.
You know, that was not a good pitch on Saturday,
and I think we got away, And which is interesting
because in the last couple of years, outside of you know,
the Open Cup, final with the bad drainage, it's been
(16:09):
a fairly solid pitch in the last couple of years.
Once they sugget yeah, once they stopped, you know, putting
lacrosse tournaments and you know, rugby sevens and rock concerts
on it, they decided. And I would say, do you
think DC would pay to reopen to RFK just so
they can have all that traffic sent elsewhere and not
on their million dollars billion dollar situation down there at
(16:30):
the naval Yard. Maybe, but yeah, look, I think when
you're coming into having a situation where your pitch is
going to be used up that much, it's really unfortunate.
And it's it's going to be difficult to see if
it's going to make any major differences on this team
in the next Cup couple matches, because that's a lot
of traffic. That's a lot of traffic and a short
(16:53):
amount of time. And it's not like the weather here
in Philadelphia has been like completely hospitable to growing seasons.
You know, it's been either drought or monsoon every other day.
So but hey, shout out to Arsenal Liverpool. That should
be fun for the people.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, we have a lot going on in Philadelphia for soccer.
Who do you have for Arsenal Liverpool and the meaningless
friendly on Wednesday night?
Speaker 4 (17:15):
I am enough the old fan so Arsenal, Arsenal all
the way the Gunners.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Yeah, well misconduct Philadelphia Arsenal bar apparently. I just found
that out the other day.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
I din't know that I was.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
I was shocked when I saw that in the in
the window.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
And I forgot he was an Arsenal fan.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Yeah, well, how can you It's the French team, Henrie Man.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
You know that's that is a team. You know the
best kits too, those Maroon Arsenal kids from.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Back in the day, those so league news. We did
have a past game, the MLS All Star Game. Let's
not even talk about that because that was for one
lega MX beats the All Stars of the MLS. Again,
I didn't see it at all.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
I forgot what was happening.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
I tried to look at some of the skills competition
and I didn't see that tune out. But Cavin Sullivan
was can you call him man of the match?
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Child?
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, the child of the match human the MLS next
All Star Game and he's now a Raising Kanes employee,
which I don't think he's got working papers.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
That might be the child labor law issues that we
were discussing a couple of weeks ago. I don't know
if you can allow a fourteen year old to rock
a cash register in America. I don't know. Maybe, and
maybe he's because it's on a deep friar. He definitely
nowhere near it. I don't think you're allowed to operate
deep friars at that age specification.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
See Calvin working at Raising Knes. I did not. Oh
so you were at the beach, you missed it. Calvin
did a his first promotional, so he was at Raising
Keynes in Temple University for filming a commercial of some sort.
Quinn was there with him because somebody had to drive
him there. They had I looked at some of the
footage from your friend Kyle Pagan. See they had to
(18:51):
have twenty to twenty five cops protecting him. Well, I
mean out there.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Do you not understand the investment?
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yeah? True?
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Like when Manchester City heard what was going on, they said,
cops from New York down there. So this kid at
North Philly, Yeah, absolutely no. It's like, why could you
use the island Avenue one? What is going on.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
And then a reminder the transfer window Thursday the eighteenth
to Wednesday, August fourteenth, so we still have time. But
in the meantime, I don't know if you've seen this.
Atlanta acquired midfielder Alexei Moranchuk from Atlantia from Syria, so
Atlanta to Atlanta, Minnesota. They got a forward from Syria
(19:34):
as well as the center bled back from the Colombian
top flight team, and Chris Albright snags a much need
at center back from a Portuguese top flight team. So
we've got some transfer action and the Union are a
little quiet after our first thing. So Adam, we keep
hearing there's something coming, there's something coming. Well have you
(19:56):
heard anything.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Well, first, let me say bye. I'm really up set
that you would go to the deepness of using the
accents for Syria and not using the accent from Minnesolta.
You just gotta you gotta, you know, culturally put it
in there.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Man, it's it's ariologized to the Minnesultans out there.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Yeah. Man, if Prince was here, let me tell you no.
But legitimately, uh, it's a situe I I am looking
at the moment that we have people coming in that
these are I'm gonna go beyond sources. I've talked to
people at higher ups. Obviously I'm a former journalist. I
(20:31):
don't give up who I talk to. But there are
people coming in. Like anything with the Union, paperwork is
always an interesting game. I don't know why, but it
seems like trying to get some of these guys over
the finish line is just a matter of you know,
talking dot and some eyes, crossing some te's and talking
to some people in Manhattan. And we shall see. But
it's not going to be the stuff that is going
(20:53):
to move the needle. As you know, the French national
team aka Los Angeles Football Club is doing no but
you you will see some names and you will see
some depth. And I think what the Union have showed
is their core is still pretty talented and they still
have enough to get to a lot of positions. They
just need reinforcements and kind of you know, shoring ups
(21:15):
of part of the ship. And I think those guys
are coming as some game changers, but not in the
sense of like you know, no one, Antonine Grisman's not
coming here, but definitely there are people on the horizon.
It's just kind of you know, hold on their coming
and a situation like this, and.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
You said the paperwork is always interesting for the Union. Yes,
we need to get Sean Brace on this because we
could get top dog lawyer to sponsor that top dog
law and we could have sponsored that and talked about paperwork.
But that's another sponsorship opportunity we just missed right there before.
We'll call the gain. We'll work on that. But speaking
of legal misfires, Sebastians, you see Bordeaux has filed for bankruptcy. Yeah,
(21:57):
it's sad, it's sad, and I mean this is this
is where is it Done came from? And Bordeaux is
filed for bankruptcy and they lost their protein status. So
I just didn't know, are we getting some money up?
Are we gonna put in a GoFundMe the buybord out?
Speaker 4 (22:11):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
I mean, it's a great city, it's a legendary club.
But there's already you know, some X border player.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
You know, is he done? One of them?
Speaker 5 (22:21):
Kind of want to pretty much get the guy who
is in charge of pretty much kind of what we
have you know, in the Union for sometimes. But this
one didn't do a very very good job.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
With your protest people protest bankruptcy. Yeah, I'm anti bankrupt.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
I don't want my club to go, so yeah, I
mean it'd be be very sad for the French football
if a border kind of let's say, is instinct and
don't have been more like a team.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
They still need to do a team. They will have
you know, some time.
Speaker 5 (22:52):
To come back into the first division, maybe second, but
it's a it's a big club. There should be you know,
somebody who need to put someoney into it and you know,
bring it back to the to the good days because
I remember growing up, you know, watching them building one
of the Simland team, you know.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
And UFA Cup one time it was a great game.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
They will lost to zero and come back wants three
zero at home and it was Zidan Jugary, Lizarez, all
those guys playing and yeah, it's h it's kind of sad, yeah,
very I'm not from Bordo, but you know, right, it's
you know, if you know soccer in France, if you know,
you know the history, this team cannot leave. So hopefully
(23:31):
the guy who was in charge of going to you know,
live in peace and let people really care about that
club take care of it.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
And the good news is Ryan Reynolds just got all
that dead Pool Wolverine money so he can just buy
another club.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I mean that's you know, these days everyone is an
American slash Canadian owners.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
I magine how much a good one you can get.
Don't even would.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Not be bad? Would not be bad? Now, speaking of
France in the Olympics, Yeah, France defeated the USA three
to a No way, yeah we did. They did.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
I have time to watch it. I was too busy
at the show thing.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Yeah, but you were texting us.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
That was yeah, you texted me, and that was just
kind of like yeah, yeah, Matt poking the bear and
being weird that the bear bit him back.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Yeah, yeah, the bear one. The women played Zombia result
they treated zombie like the French treat of the US.
That was three nothing.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
I really need you to call it, not Zombia and
maybe Zambia because it sounded like zombie nation For a second.
I was like, I can't with you right now, but
you want.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
The Minnesota accent, Yeah, I would would. I cannot believe you.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
God, there's nothing there, no, there is not us.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Faced New Zealand. Yes, four to one. Union alumni looked great.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
In that game all over the place.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Now, Adam, does that mean Tommy Wilson is an American
hero even though he's Scottish.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Yes, as many as many American heroes as there can
be from places in an actually America. Yes, that look,
he's if you're producing some of the greatest talent this
country is seen on a soccer pitch. Apparently, Nate gets
the penalty. Nate gets the penalty.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Nate also kicks the first one. That's the deflection that
becomes Zimmerman's goal.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
He started every game, and every game.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Paxton has looked really good and did score and and
Jack even though he hasn't been starting except for now.
He looks really good. So the Union Academy products are
showing their their quality while we are all zoning out
watching the game currently while we're recording this.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
No, it was a great thing, but it was great
timing on Sewan to actually put the game on while
we're doing a podcast. Will definitely pay attention. Look, it's
on brand. It's on brand for sure.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
I mean in Tuesday right now.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
And I just so he's a score hold and the
winds we can just tacond of the group and they
should play Morocco on Friday at nine am.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
That'll be That'll be a barn burner right there.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
So she want to take a long week end. They'll
take off Friday, and what's your game in the name.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
I don't think I can convince my wife to watch
more soccer after both the Euros and the Kopa that
was a lot. It's for your country, I mean, it's
for her country too, and she still doesn't care.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Yeah, the US women beat Germany four to one. The
US women just looking every bit as formidable as they
ever have been. Yeah, So the Olympics have been giving us,
at least US fans a lot of joy lately. So
we're gonna see and like I said, we're watching this
now and the US are up to nothing, and like
like Sebastian said, they win this second place and we
(26:36):
move on, which I don't know the last time US
soccer has moved on in an Olympic game. Look here,
since we made the Olympics.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
We're gonna we're gonna look back at the archives of
all these tournaments and be like, wow, American soccer has
not been great at these games before. But yeah, no,
I mean, look it's a it's a situation where I
don't like the term Golden generation because I think the
great people of Belgium will tell you what that actually equals,
and it's not a lot. But you know, I think
this is a time period where development in the United
(27:06):
States is at an all time high and you have
a lot of good products. We're looking at three Philadelphia
Union products on the screen simultaneously right now, and it's
it's showing you that, you know, the youth are coming
in this in this league from this country. And if
we can continue to develop in places like Philadelphia, like
Dallas and other parts in between, you know, this is
(27:28):
it's gone. Twenty twenty six is going to look interesting.
But I'm going to need some coaching first.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yeah, and speaking of disasters, you know, as I always
like to think of other countries and it could be worse. Yeah,
Canada took a page out of the If you ain't cheating,
you ain't trying.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Oh Man.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
The women's soccer team assistant coach and an analyst got
kicked out of the Olympics after New Zealand said they
were spying on them with a drone. They pulled the
Orlando Yeah, they pulled the Orlando.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Oh man, no, you can't pull the Orlando.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
And then there the General Secretary of Canada socker Kevin Blue,
revealed that spying was also attempted by the men's team
at the COPA. He admits to this. I mean now
he says Jesse didn't know anything about it. So we're
gonna say Jesse can still be the Canadian hero.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
How how did did Jesse not know?
Speaker 2 (28:17):
I don't think he reviewed the tape and that's the
only one only there for three weeks.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
Did Jesse sees this tape? It's like, well, this is
not a weird shaky cam from Like how did you
obtain this footage? You shouldn't have this, Like how does
Jesse not know?
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Look?
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Whatever? Shout out to Canada. I'm I hope. I want
Canada to be good because I believe it helps KUNKA CAF.
If Canada is a good, strong nation, you know, they
have a nice young core of young athletes coming out
of there. Canada should be good in the next couple
of years. I just do you know? And look, if
he ain't cheating, you know, you're not trying exactly insert
(28:53):
the Houston astros here.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
You know, well, I think they did have success. Oh no,
they know they want a couple.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
They want to they don't have to give the trophy back.
So I feel like, you know, not positive for them.
By the way, I just want to point out your
transitions today have been fantastic.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Thank you. I've been doing my prep work. I'm doing
my Justice March drown over, iHeartRadio and prepping as much
as I possibly can.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
I Look, I'm good. Look, it's been fun.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
So in some news we'll get into this. The there
is a town hall. Yeah, town hall for you, the fans,
the season ticket holders, not just the sons of Men.
Because I got an email.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Yeah I got that one too.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
You got it too, and you're not going to participate
in the town hall.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
When is it?
Speaker 2 (29:39):
It is August the thirteenth, from six o'clock to eight
pm at Union Yards.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Uh? The owner? So, Jay, Richard Leibovich, Tim McDermott, and
ERNs Tanner are going to sit down and answer fans questions,
kind of like the meeting that they have with the
Sons of Ben, but open it up to season ticket
holders and kind of let them know where the money goes.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
It's okay if I have a question to as them.
I just go to them directly.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Look, I'll ask on his draft, why did you trade
Sebastian those years ago? Like I'll just go straight up
and be like, no, I have the real questions of
the audience.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Please none of them where I think maybe just team, but.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
I don't know what. And the the funny thing is,
I go on, Adam, did you try to R s VP?
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Here's the thing. I thought my presence there would be
not welcomed for multitude of reasons, so I just kind
of sat down. I'm good, I'll I'll let the kids
figure that one out.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
I think I'm away for work, but I said, you
know what, let me r s VP and I just
did it live while we're here. Unable to secure seats
at this price level, which was free. So I'm gonna
say that they probably might have sold out. I'm not sure.
So there's going to be a packed house in Union Yards.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
I mean, look, all right, I can't just for two seconds, please?
Can I just ran for that for two seconds? Place?
What are we doing? Like? What are we really doing here?
Like I'm a fan of multiple teams in the city,
and I'm like, I'm used to them being bad, and
I'm used to the like questioning ownership. I'm still not
one hundred percent sure if Josh Harris has all the
(31:11):
best interests in the Philadelphia seventy six ers. You know,
I don't know you're a season ticket holder. Have you
ever met I've no. I met Adam Aaron once. That
was a fun time, But yeah, I've never met Josh Harris.
I have been a fan of all of these teams,
and I've looked at management and I've wondered stuff. I
wondered what the Phillies were doing. I've wondered what the
(31:31):
Flyers were doing. They none of them had the perennial
amount of success that the Philadelphia Union have had consecutively.
And then to go on a skid, a real skid.
And I'm not saying I'm not trying to diminish the skid,
but on a real skid after you basically were one
of the darlings of the league for the better part
of a half of a decade. It just seems to
(31:54):
me that like the visceral reaction to being bad for
a couple of months is a bit much, and the
respect as always or these are fundamental issues It goes
back to the parking lots not being paved. It goes
back to spending money here and then basically telling your
fan base we're not going to compete with certain clubs.
I understand that fundamentally, but I just don't know what
(32:15):
trying to be accomplished in this moment. The owners know
you're upset, they're upset, they want to play better, they
want to put a better product out there. Now, I'm
not trying to diminish the idea of being upset and
protesting your team if you feel things are bad. But
I just don't know how we got to hear so quickly.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
Is it because and just because I heard from some
of a friend of the things rise of the season
ticket price from Lasio to this year or something.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
Atlanta did that, and Atlanta had a fully functioning protest
about that. And I believe that it's protestablele Like, if
you're telling me about your pricing out fans, which happens
in literally all the sports we have in this country.
Right now, my season tickets just went up with the Sixers,
and I'm saying, you're pricing out people who've been propping
up the bad times and now you're propping them up
for the good times. And the irony is the prices
(33:07):
won't go back down. You know, we're not going to
see the season tickets go back down if they keep
going on it is if they.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
Go to higher place, that's okay, but they need to
get I guess Steph falls more prize out putting into.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Better then.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
I don't know what they're asking for anything.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
Yeah, it's like if you're if you're gonna ask the
season tickets, that's a conversation piece and I'm here for that.
I don't from us. I've known that's not the core
of the conversation and it maybe should be, but it's
but it's everything else in between.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Let's let's just.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Take a look around here. Everything in America has gone
up substantially in the last four years, and the Union
haven't really raised the prices that much. So eventually it's
gonna raise like we're not Miami now. The one thing
is I will give the front office and ownership group
credit that they're willing to sit down and talk to
the fans because you don't get Jeffrey Lorie to talk
(33:56):
to them. You got a press conference, you know, Jeffrey
Loriie drives around when the Eagles are winning in his
golf cart with a ton of security, waves that people
and then gets to his suite. You know, you don't
get David Blitzer and Josh Harrish hanging out and taking
Q and AS from anybody.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
You do get Middleton throw you baseballs.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
And n Hilferdy now as the CEO of Comcast spectacor
will walk around a little bit. But you don't get
you don't get any of the Comcast people telling you
why they're making Bundy.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
Oh my god, can we have Brian Roberts at a
Q and A. I need that, I crave that.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
I would just ask about my rising cable bill.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Not one person when they address hockey at You know,
as a Union.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Fan, you should have a little bit of pride that
your ownership's willing to listen to you. But I'm sure
people are going to complain, like I can't get there
on a Tuesday night. Why don't they open this up
to like webbs, you know, so I can call in
or something. There's still gonna be people that will probably
protest the town hall book. What do you got to do?
Speaker 3 (34:54):
And life comes at you fast. Look Ultimately, if you're upset,
I'm here for you to be upset. I'm kind of
conf used by why it's at this level, but you know,
I get the emotion of that's a bat on the
field at the uh, we're looking live, We're looking live. Yeah, no,
this everyone who's also going to be like, hey, did
Adam catch the bat in the field? I did? Yes, no,
(35:16):
But yeah, look, I just I hope that my biggest
issue is that we use this moment to kind of
go at each other in a way that is a
little bit uncomfortable to me because I just don't understand
where a lot of the anger and the visceral is
coming from. So I hope we just kind of, you know,
ease up on each other with this, and I hope
it kind of quells some of everyone's anger about it.
(35:37):
But ultimately, if you have to ask me, I'm still
kind of confused about the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Well, let's just let's just look back at the season.
What a season this has been so far, and we
are at the end of July. We still have a
lot more season left, but the two highlights of the
season has been a stinking raccoon on the field and
a fourteen year old kid.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
You leave that raccoon alone. That raccoon is a National
treasure raccoon. Wait he like what other animal outside of
fang his T shirts about him?
Speaker 4 (36:06):
Exactly exactly.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
So that's been the season. But luckily the play is
coming back and hopefully everybody can enjoy the rest of
the season. Now, we did have the NWSL game super Park.
I want to it's coming up right, No, it's uh,
it's happens And that was nothing Gotham versus Washington.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Correct, well, I think there's another one coming up too,
but no, but no, yes, the one against Gotham already happened.
It was Washington Gotham that happened. It was a good game.
Nice to see a decent crowd up there for both
of the teams. Give us a team already. What are
we doing? This is like the what third or fourth
time we've done this? Because are we still prepping to
(36:48):
see affilies and market? Are we just using the space?
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Like?
Speaker 3 (36:51):
What is space? It's in borderline insulting? Now, just give
us a team already. What are we doing? I just
get do it? Do it?
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Why?
Speaker 3 (37:00):
What's the problem, like other than people don't want to
buy the team. But it's just I can't imagine.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Sebastian's watching you explode right now.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
I can't imagine that Toronto, Boston, the Bay Area, all
of these places that people who are willing to invest
in sports teams in Philadelphia does not It just doesn't
make literal any sense to me, Like it just you.
Is it court to not enough corporations? Is it not
enough of the high roller money? Because even NWSL the
(37:32):
buy in is expensive, but it's not that expensive.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
I think it's expensive.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
It's just it's one of these things where it look
I I want to believe in no conspiracies, but it's
just the weirdest thing that this market keeps getting looked
over over and over and over and over again, but
they want to keep getting us in. Like they would
love if we were Gotham fans. They would love if
(37:57):
Philadelphia got behind Gotham, but they would be like, putting
a team here is no because Philadelphians are never going
to be prime to root for New York teams in
like any real circumstances. Even when we didn't have the Union,
I was a DC United fan because hell no, I'm
not rooting for New Jersey New York Metro Stars.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
For Seattle because Sebastial two was playing for them.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
You are er, thank you man, thank you.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
They were in they were in backyard soccer, so I
couldn't pick them there.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
There could be a savior for you Independence, Blue Cross.
They're investing heavily in every sports team. They're putting their
logo on everything.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
I will take the Blue Cross Blue Shield, ladies. I
will do that like I will rock at the jerseys myself.
I'll be a walking billboard for the organization.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
Just bring me you want to state farm.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Independence the show from the you know, from the from.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
The way way back. Yes, but they don't even have
to change the name. They could just bring back the Independence.
It'd be great.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yeah. I mean that those two teams coincide it, but
they were playing in Villanova. Look at it, the.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Charge Villanova. Yes, that's your that's your Adam Pedia for
the that's the Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
So I mean, no, we we I would love to
see us have a team. I think you have to
figure out where it plays and right now, could Super
u Park handle three teams during the scene.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
No, you don't put you don't play them at super
But I'm like, you put him at Sweeney like you
put him at you put him over at at Temple.
You know you can be hell put him over in
New Jersey for turf, We'll put him in Sweeney. Wait,
who is?
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Is there a non turf rule? And there isn't. But
I wouldn't want to see anybody playing. Oh, we've got
another goal for the US assist.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
Jack mc yeah, paradises.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
He wants to be the decks.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
The United States of America or Jack McGlenn. Oh, I
don't know who is. I had no idea.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
We got is in Germany? Right, I think he is
in Germany.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Germany.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
Yeah, that's the second of the game. He's been he's
been crushing it well.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
As this is starting to roll and I know we
want to watch more this. We're gonna put a little
bow on this. I think mister Sean Brace, executive producer,
veteran broadcaster in the Philadelphia market, has some va R
for us. I got two one.
Speaker 6 (40:11):
Tyler Adams said on the Cooligans podcast that everybody does
what the Canadian coach did Sebastelo two?
Speaker 2 (40:17):
Is that true? What fly the drones? Dude? Does every
team cheat?
Speaker 5 (40:21):
I never saw it and I don't understand Why why
are you playing your game? Because focus on your own team?
Speaker 2 (40:26):
Do you have a drone at Shipley?
Speaker 4 (40:29):
He's I don't need it.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Seems like a lot of work.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
I need to help my team.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
He's studying Agnes Irwin film all the time. Don't you
worry about it?
Speaker 6 (40:40):
And finally, I just want to say I'm right knack
and nack with Adam Booth.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
I have no idea.
Speaker 6 (40:45):
God bless the union, ownership and and all that, but
it's just wow, this season is a bunch of whining.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
That's that's really what it.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
Comes down to.
Speaker 6 (40:56):
Like, this team is struggling, but man, we've what six
straight season?
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Is a playoff action? Look, take a breath.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
I got three phone calls.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Take a breath.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
I got three phone calls from family members because the
Phillies lost the Yankees yesterday. The city's going through something.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
They're all the water right now, like it's football.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
I'd just say everyone thinks every game is like it's
one week, it's sixteen the whole season. Everything is in
the visual, Like I breathe, Hell.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
Shipley better come out of the gate heavy and hard.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
And face Oh my god, can you imagine the protest?
Can you imagine protests and brinmar all all of those
porschekai Annes coming up there being really upset.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
All right, everybody, this was episode number thirteen. Were talking
about protests, but we're not anymore. Everyone, thanks for tuning
into X's in the U and we will see you
next week.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
Everybody catch that No
