Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ex president of the Sons of Ben Matt Kintastic, X
Head Cappo, Adam Booth, X Player, and forever a Union
legend Sebastian Latoo. These may be exes, but they're the
experts when it comes to the Philadelphia un Yet this
is exes in the you.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Welcome back everybody to x is in the U. Gentlemen.
We are on episode nineteen. Of course, I am joined
with Adam by Adam Booth and Sebastian Latwo. Guys, it's
been a week since we've been together. How's everyone doing so?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Very good? Doing very good Perfinitly, that's great.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'm after the Eagles defeat. I'm not doing as well personally,
but we also have a Miami defeat to talk about.
So well, we're gonna see how we do. Maybe it's
we're gonna heal during this entire pod together.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
I'm gonna need you. I'm gonna edse you like tak
a xanax or something. I don't know. Everyone needs to chill.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
People are chilling. Well, we do have to talk about
the Miami game. Now, Sebastian, you did not do the
radio for that game, so you go to South Beach Nope.
I was on my couch, as were a lot of us. Adam,
I'm assuming you were on the couch as well.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
I was actually in Marlton, New Jersey, getting prepared to
watch the UFC fight, and it happened to be simul
casted at the Chickis and Pizza over there, and they
had like three or four TVs with Apple TV. So
shout out the Chickis and Petez Marlton for Union fans
over in you know, the other side of the bridge.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Wow, the way to represent South Jersey. So Union Miami,
as we know, one to three. But it's did it
start out that way? No, it started out gangbusters. I
mean the Union go up early, and Quinn should have
had goal number two almost as.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Early, and and three and three and possibly four.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, so this is a lot of missed opportunities. So
I'm gonna have mister Latou, who's on the couch observing this,
lead us off on your thoughts of the scheme and
what should have happened.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
I mean, great out again after say, you know, with
the one we did Red Bulls, this one was perfect
two minutes in one zero and we're like, you know,
we're feeling good ab ourself.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I think it's the best way.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
I think the game plan was good, but like you say,
I think we need to pull it away. You know,
we need to get the fact that Miami was sleeping
for the first twenty five minutes and minimum get two
you know at that point. But we you know, kind
of wasted some chances. We talked about it like this
morning was doing the show with Shane and it's kind

(02:44):
of like the killer instincts, you know, from the forward
to be able to put away in other chances because
you know with the team like Miami at home, MISSI
coming back, they we're going to know to react a
little bit, and it's what they did, you know, one one,
two one, and then I feel like we could have
even maybe go to die. You know, at the end
of the game, we got like a few gifts from

(03:05):
the Miami defense, but cannot threw them away and at
the end, you know, last goal, you know, kind of
like for the Edges.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
But it was not a bad performance with the team.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
He's just you know, defensively, when you do those mistake
against those guys, you know, you pick ash Adam.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
You have any thoughts on this matter, I mean, look,
it was one of those games where one I didn't
really think they were gonna going into it, be honest
with you, just because it was just a lot of
different factors of just the circumstances. I mean, when you
tell me Blake's out and you know you're gonna like
just to start with, like we're gonna lead off with, yeah,

(03:42):
your goal is out versus messy, I'm like, Okay, probably
not gonna be a fun day for us. But started
out great, you know it would continues to put up
numbers that I think people are not going to acknowledge
are really good, Like he's actually been a very consistent player.
But I think again for the price tag, I think
people were expecting more.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
They want a.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Diego Dassi basically out of it, and it's not necessarily
what you have in the gentlemen. But I think Mikuel
UDA's numbers are absolutely nothing to sneeze at.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
This season, he got.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
Beat by one of the greatest players of all time twice,
and then Luis Sworez, another phenomenal player, just did a
little poop and just did a how's your uncle to
end the game, and I mean, look, I kind of
left it being like, yeah, Okay, that happened, you know,
and I thought at times they looked good.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
You know.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
I think the fact that you had twenty shots on goal,
or twenty shots and you had eight of them on goal,
you know, you out shot Miami by double and then
some you know, you got a lot of chances and
you should have buried a couple of them. I think
Calendar deserves more credit for how good of a goalie
he was because he even when he was sprawling and

(04:54):
getting out, the fact that he was able to get
his body in front of a couple of those shots
that should have been just easy. Tappens in a lot
of ways. That needs to be like, truly acknowledged. But
I just think that, you know, it's hard to just
to you don't want to do a scheduled loss situation
and be like all, I'm gonna swallow this and move on.
But I definitely believe that, you know, that's tough. That

(05:15):
is tough. But in a deeper point, Miami is just
going to be like this until they decide not to. Like,
they're just going to be on a different level because
they just have this gap right now in terms of
talent and look, I don't know their financials.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
I don't know how that works.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
I haven't done all the studies because I'm a Union podcaster,
I'm not a Miami podcaster. But it's just like, as
long as they're able to have Beckham, the backdrop of
Miami and you know, Florida taxes and all that in between,
they I don't know why that.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Team can't just do that and yeah, yeah, I mean
which I mean, South Florida is a hotbed of athletic
youth and name a sport.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
You know.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
So here's a question for both of you. Does Blake
stop that suck goal? Yeahah probably yeah, yeah, probably So
Unlike you, Adam, I thought even without Blake, I thought
we had a chance of getting a result. Did I
think we're gonna I hoped we could win. I thought
it was going to be a one, one two too.
That's what I thought. Once I knew Blake wasn't in.
I thought, maybe we can squeeze this out because maybe

(06:17):
Messi's got some rust on them and we can exploit that.
And the other thing is Miami's defense is not that good.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
No no, no, no, really not. I mean again, we had
twenty shots.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, we had twenty one shots. To eight. Yeah, you
know they scored three on eight. We had twenty one
shots and got one. Yeah, we should have had more goals.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
No, yeah, no, And I mean ultimately you're one hundred
percent I correct about the defense. And as the game
went on, I was like, oh, maybe we might sneal,
Like maybe it would be a smash and grab.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
We've been on the doorstep all night.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
Like I if the beginning of the game Adam and
end of game Adam was that it was there.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Yeah, like I would say the game was there for us.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
You know, there was a lot of opportunities for us
to make it to nothing, to to tie the game
to at least, you know, retie the game after we
got down to one. You know, there was opportunities we
didn't get there. But you know, I don't feel discouraged
by this game, if that's the result of this. I
feel that there was a lot of good there. And
I think if you had a healthier union, there have

(07:17):
been a lot of great there, you know.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Goodt I don't feel discouraged by the performance. There is
a sense of panic, and I'll get into that please.
But the other question I have for both of you,
do you think the referee is going to get into
trouble because he gave a yellow card to Lionel Messi
does that get in trouble by the league? Like I
don't think I've seen that.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
I was allowed.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Yeah, I just think something like it's like when you
see a batter argue with an umpire, but it's like, yeah,
but it's Barry Bonds, So they we're gonna kind of
let Barry Bonds argue with this umpire a little bit
longer than like you know, Alec Bohm would be allowed
the leash. So I mean, look, I think he has
a moment though, did you think does he make MESSI

(07:59):
sign the card?

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Like after the game rep has a messy signed the card?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Could you imagine?

Speaker 5 (08:05):
Or a third party not the rep, but like a
third part on his behalf.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Now I've got a question for you being a striker. Yes,
is Sam cursed? He has had so many opportunities and
has blatantly missed, Like do we have to do like
Major League the movie and get Jabou in the locker
room or sacrifice a chicken? Like why can't Sam get

(08:32):
his first goal? Where he's had all these opportunities. I
literally texted someone, is he cursed. Did somebody did ex
girlfriend put like the meloy on his shoes or something.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
I mean, it's it's a comment. It happened to me
not to not to go for a game. It's it's
holy know when you're because especially coming to a new team,
you want.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
To get if he has the chances, it's not like.

Speaker 6 (08:56):
He doesn't, so I always it's a positive because.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
He creates some some opportunity for himself.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
You just need to put one in the back of
the net to kind of get the monkey out of
his back. But it's it's not easy, but I'm sure
the one is going to put.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
I think it's going to be very important.

Speaker 6 (09:13):
I don't know what I have a feeling about the
fact that, you know, people are going to criticize, criticize, critics,
and usually when you're getting criticized a lot, it's where
you kind of, let's say, make people shut their their
mouths exactly, and and they're like, oh my god, you're
so good and thank you for scoring this goal to
make us maybe make the Player of this Year or

(09:34):
you know, qualifiers for the next round of the player
for whatever it is, maybe the who knows.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
It for Birks entire career.

Speaker 6 (09:44):
But it's just yeah, I mean he's in a r
right now, but he is you know, he could just
you know, they need a little extra and hopefully you know,
he can find the back.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Of the net.

Speaker 6 (09:55):
But but yeah, but like you know, to come back
on your question too, I just wanted to add, like,
you know, the game, Mimi, I I think we had
a good game plan. I think it was good and
I think it should give them really like some thought
about if we play Miami again. You know, we are
not here yet qualify for the player because we have
a long way to go, but if we do, we'll
probably play.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Miami again and can we get the rasor there?

Speaker 6 (10:17):
I think we could, but they need to believe that
it's possible and not you know, be twenty minutes and
not you know, getting the ball in back of the
net and then let them play. But I really think,
like what we saw on Saturday, that if we have
everybody healthy, everybody ready to go, we can definitely give
some problem to Miami and maybe knock them out of
the playoffs if you know, we have a full performance

(10:39):
against them.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
I could agree more. Even I think Joe Tanzi sends
out his emails, and his article was the positivity or
pasadelphia of the scheme. There were a lot of good
things to take out of it, which as a sports fan,
it's really hard to talk logic and go, oh, we
had some positives about the lost because it's still a loss.
Where I'm concerned is we have got how many games up?

(11:06):
We are in eleventh place and we have six games left.
It's kind of now we're never Now. DC is at
thirty three points, Toronto's at thirty six, and even oh
geezh Carolina is at thirty eight and they're sliding. So
is it possible that we can make the playoffs. Yes,
it's still mathematically possible, but we need to get results

(11:29):
in Our next game is against New York City, Yeah,
who have not won in seven games.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yeah, they're they're an enigma. Yeah, I don't get them.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
They got a one to one tie with d C. Yeah,
so they trade penalty goals penalty kicks for this. But
the other thing is Jack Elliott because the yellow cards
is going to miss this game. Yes, so I guess
Nate's gonna go move to the center, I mean center.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
Center, I would assume.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
Yeah, I think that's how that's as is going to
be there on the outside, the outside, and then you
know Kai is going to play double duty because he
always likes to cover for the center backs anyway, So.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Let's get into chop up New York City. Seba, what
are your thoughts about New York City? And are you
are you going up to call this game or are
you staying in behind?

Speaker 4 (12:22):
Dude?

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Well, I think we have to fill a buster right
here because we've one of the most lit So Adam, wy,
don't you fill us in on New York City.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
And what you think?

Speaker 5 (12:29):
I mean, Look, I think right now with their form
because they've been an interesting kind of scenario all season.
You know, they came out kind of hot in a
way that made them, you know, interesting, They made them
compete at a high level, and I was kind of
shocked to see what they were because like roster construction wise,
I'm not sure what you really have with this team.
It's definitely a far cry away from the TATI you know,

(12:52):
NSCFC teams that actually had some identity.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
But you know, for a while they were playing well
and they were getting.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
Results, and then it's just kind of a slide and
it's not necessarily playing poorly.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
They just haven't been scoring goals.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
They just haven't been able to get you know, the
ball in the back of the They've only scored more
than two goals once since June, you know, and I
was on a four to two victory against Orlando. Other
than that, it's just been a result after a result
of two goals, one goal, two goals, one goal, two goals,
one goal, zero goals, two goals, one goal. They haven't

(13:25):
been able to find anyone to score a lot of
goals for them right now. So I think New York's
and enigma. I don't know what to really make of them.
Their defense is solid, you know, their midfield has a
lot of creativity to it, but they have nothing really
on the top of a viper of venom. So it's
for the taking for the Union. You know, they've played

(13:47):
well in the Yankee Stadium those of as recently, you know,
and just in general in New York as recently. So
again this is this is definitely for the taking. And
if you take the positives away from the Miami team,
you know, I definitely think Union should that they can
get a result here.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah, it's helpful, and yeah, I guess we have been
playing better Yankee Stadium on a small pitch, but historically
not Sebastian. You thought someone who look sunny.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
Yeah, sorry, my my mic was mute earlier. No, I
mean it's a quick turn a round again for the
They play midweek and New York City is in front
of them, and they have a lot of stuff to
play for. You know, there are three points away from
the red balls to get like maybe the fourth place
and get the home game, you know, advantaging the first
runner of the playoffs. So it's a lot for them

(14:34):
to play as well, and they know that if they
beat the Union, for sure they are you know, in
the player probably, so I know, motivation on both sides.
But like you said, I think at the Yankee Stadium,
on this small field, it's it's just a battle. You know,
it's play much who want it more? You know who
who won the second ball? You know who the in
the midfield play you know quick and usually, like said,

(14:56):
pieces are huge over there. So I will hope in
know Caback got his best delivery for that game with
Jag Mglin and help the team, you know, deliver some
good boards to score some goals. But missing Jack, you know,
we are missing size in the box. So it's gonna
be it's gonna be a battle, and and they need
to get a resort because not winning a Miami or

(15:18):
not getting a point, I think we need to you know,
stay close to d C because this doesn't play Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
We are three points away from d C.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
So if we get you know, one point and then
we beat DC, we pass them.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
From d C. So it's a big week.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
So let's see who is healthy, who is ready to
go small feast and you know, a battle and New
York player for some stuff, it's not they don't play
for anything like maybe the year before. So yeah, it's
gonna be. It's gonna be interesting. I think it's gonna
be not very a pretty game. I think it'll be ugly,
but it's gonna be who you know, who wins the game.

(15:54):
And New York knows they are good in those small space.
They have the player. But I think we can maybe
put more easy ketty teams of the game.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
And I want to touch on things you said big week.
I want to add another word. It's a busy week. Yeah,
they're coming from Miami, they go to New York and
then on Sunday they have DC So that's three out
of the seven games they had. They have six games left,
they're gonna have two with short rest and trying to
get everybody back. You know, we still have guys that

(16:23):
are banged up from their international duty, which we'll touch
on when we talk about the international break and what
happened with USA and Canada and the other teams. But
you got some guys banged up, including Andre. I haven't
heard that he's back yet because with the groin, that
is always concerning with me because a lot of people
are like, oh, he doesn't have to run. Well, that's
how he pushes off to make those diving saves. Is

(16:46):
having the groy muscles healed and healthy. So you're concerned
about are you going to get a hundred percent Andre?
But right now eighty percent Andre is probably better than
one hundred percent Rick and Oliver, So I don't know
what we have. Yeah, and Sebastian, have you heard yet
about if Drey's going to be playing.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
No, surprised to not seem in Miami being of the week.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
I think he was ready to go, but you may
have got something doing prisics.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
So yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
Hope it's uh, it's not too too serious and we
can have him, you know, for for the rest.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Of the of the season.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Yeah, because this is this is the now. We're never
push so but the only thing missing, Elliott, and this
is just me being a total optimist. Because it's a
small field, maybe it won't matter as much because New
York really can't spread us out, and maybe Nate can
do a good job there and that's not going to
be as detrimental as it would be on a real

(17:42):
soccer field.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
I mean, honestly, I think, you know, as a person
who is slow but tall myself, I believe it's actually
decently beneficial to play on a smaller pitch because you can,
you know, you don't have to exert yourself and you
don't get beat as often. So but I think it
also mean, yeah, for that exact thing what you say
is true, we're going to have, you know, less opportunities.
They're gonna have less opportunity to just straight flat foot

(18:05):
race us on a shorter.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Pitch, so that'll definitely help, you know.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
I think it's it's one of those situations where this
is where the Union get tested and their real identity
is shown because you know, your backs are against a
wall against an opponent that you know, I don't believe
is inherently that much better than you, but have definitely
put together a better season so far. And like, if
Andre Blay can play, and you can, you have enough

(18:29):
of the bullets in the chamber, you should go and
get it, you know. And I think you're more than
capable of going to get it, you know. I think
even though you've lost close games, you've played the best
of Major League Soccer had off for the last couple
of weeks, and you've stood pretty decently against most of it.
So I mean, you played Cincinnati, you played Columbus twice,
You've not played Miami like. You've played a lot of

(18:50):
tough games, you know, recently. I know they're not all
qualifi as Major League Soccer, but you've played these guys
and you've proven that you can at least hang. So
I think this is a moment where if you can
make this result, you can go down to New York
and take all the points for if let's say, you know,
then you have a confidence going into the playoffs, saying,
all right, I don't really fear a lot like I

(19:13):
don't I'm not scared walking into Columbus. I'm not scared
walking into Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
You would even be scared playing Miami in the first round. No,
But it's like it's not saying anything bad about Miami. No,
I'm just saying that they keep playing well and we
have everybody healthy. Yeah, it's the playoffs. This is the
American version of anything can happen. So anything can happen exactly.
But we have to talk about DC a little bit.
I mean, normally we don't go into one or two

(19:39):
matches down the road, but because this is such a quick, fast,
short week, We've got New York City tomorrow night Wednesday,
and we've got DC on Sunday. Luckily it's back home,
but this is back to back to back, and DC's
sitting at thirty three points and they tie New York.
So they're playing a lot better than they were in
the beginning of the season, just like we're playing better.

(19:59):
So randomly, Sebastian, any thoughts on DC for Sunday. I
know we're looking way down the line, but it's coming
up quicker than we we would like.

Speaker 6 (20:07):
I mean, it's, like I said, since a couple of weeks,
but it's it's a six months game.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
You know.

Speaker 6 (20:12):
For me, it's a team right above you kind of yeah,
like fighting for us almost the same spot, and we
play them at home usually. You know, we have good
success against DC. But they are good team. But I
don't think defensive lys are that good. I think they
are strong offensively if a Bentaca is always involved in
a game, being the reading so of the of the

(20:33):
league right now. But if we do a good job,
you know, and kind of score early and don't wait,
you know, to kind of just be up one zero,
like we need to get like two zero or three
zero or like a big game from from the team
and kind of get a good win. I think if
we get a good win against d C, kind of
pull us, you know, much more confident for the last
four games and try to get another good result away

(20:56):
and hopefully, you know, win against Atlanta at home. So
it's yeah, it's a it's a big game, I think, whatever,
But against.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
New York happened.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
You know, it's pretty much like the game we have
in hand against DC because they already have twenty nine
game we have twenty eight, and then it's like we
play them and then you play Atlanta and those two
teams is the one you're fighting, you know, the let's
say if we stay homeboard the eight and ninth spot
in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Totally agree ethan nine spot, and it really is this
DC game is I mean, you need a result against
New York City and the result against DC.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Do you want to break your news or yeah?

Speaker 5 (21:40):
So the sources I have have told me that the
Andre Blake will probably not play in New York on Wednesday.
So even more I think maybe you're holding him back
for that DC matchup if you feel like he might
be close but not all the way over there, because
you do have that proverbial.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
Game in hand if you will.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
So I mean, look, anytime Andrea Blake is not there,
the Union or a weaker team, but I still think
it's in front of you. I still think you have
an opportunity to get a result out of this. So
if you can't, I mean, look, this is this is
a situation where if you just hote Jose Mourinho parked
the bus and pray for it, I'll live with that.

(22:21):
I'll live with that midweek result. So you know, I
just will know not to watch but all the game,
you know, just most of them.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
I'm just gonna let everybody listening understand what we're going
through right now, because we just came off of an
Eagles choke and the Phillies losing, and we're trying to
be as optimistic as possible. Actually, I do feel like
we could get a result against New York City.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
I do, and we should beat DC.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
So let's get back focused on that.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
Why is positivity insanity in these days?

Speaker 5 (22:50):
I just I just need to know when optimism and
positivity became insanity?

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Well, here's why, because we're going to get into it.
The international break. Okay, US soccer, God, that's its Saturday
right now, US versus Canada, and we lose. I was
in Kansas City that weekend watch the first half. Yea
glad I didn't see the rest of it. Lose two
one to Canada. Not a good start for no Virus

(23:22):
because he's now hired by San Diego.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Ah right, right, right.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
He didn't have a good showing and he kind of
even called out the players on they have to have
a level of desire, desire that they weren't bringing to this.
And do you want to get into the quote from
former US citizen Jesse Marsh.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
I think he told.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
In US Soccer he might not Jesse marschh Uh, he
was not. He's not mincing words here, he said, and
much rather coach Canada than the US are right now.
You can see the mentality that is being developed. You
can see the way that the teams play, how much
they love playing for the national team and willing to
put their careers and lives in the way to play

(24:03):
on the line for the best so that they can
reach one another for the team. I wouldn't change coaching
this team right now, change coaching this team right now
for anything in the world.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
And here's the thing. I believe him, Oh.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
I wholeheartedly believe those gentlemen up in Canada are giving
their absolute all to the Canadian national team right now,
trying to raise their nation up to a level that
they've never reached before. And I'm saying because they too
are also hosting this World Cup with US, this is
a very watermark moment for the nation of Canada as

(24:39):
much as it is for Mexico and the United States.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
And what I'm saying is right now.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
Right before the biggest soccer tournament in the history of
the soccer federation, that is the United States of America.
You look lost, Oh, you look lost, And I'm I'm
really concerned about the next six hundred days of American soccer.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
On the men's side, women's side, I feel pretty good
about them. They seem like they should.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
They look fun, They look like they're okay men's side
for the next six hundred days, which is really what's
gonna be important leading up to this World Cup or thing.
I don't know about these gentlemen because is Poliitic the
leader that I need him to be, is Weston McKinnie,
the midfielder I need him to be. Is Matt Turner cooked?

Speaker 4 (25:31):
You know?

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Is our defense cook? Is Sirgeniodst not the man I
thought he was? Is Reinya not use? Not worth the headache?
At this point, it's just to me, like, when is
my U twenties coming up? When are we gonna call
up Brendan and the rest of the kids, Paxton, Pax, Jack,
not Brendan, Yeah, Paxton, Paxton, and Jack and and and

(25:55):
Quinn and all these guys to start playing for the
senior team.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Because I'm at this point saying, the senior teammate it.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Now, and let's talk about this. The second part of
the international break was New Zealand. New Zealand got cooked
by Mexico three to nothing.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
Before this, absolutely obliterated and we.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Tie them one after saying that we needed to do better,
this is what we get. So there's a lot of
questions for US Soccer and the only solution is who
do we officially name punch? Punch? So we've got the
coach and he will be in attendance for the October

(26:34):
friendlies seb.

Speaker 5 (26:37):
I have to ask you something as a as a
European yourself, do you believe because of the competition level
of the other nations in the in like the European Championships,
the Nation League's just friendlies, do you believe that helps
teams like France, Spain, Germany maintain a level of I
mean to put a better word, desire and attitude for

(27:01):
where the United States has routinely said they're not going
to get up for nations like Haiti, Honduras. You know,
when we play a lot of the teams that we
just feel inherently superior to, it feels like the US
only wants to get up from Mexico, you know, and
the rest and everyone else is kind of like, oh,
it's a friendly Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
I mean it's like, you know, you see the europe
right now as it plays the Nation League, you know,
and I can tell that you like friends, don't really
care about it, even if it's the competition, you know,
but doesn't really matter. It's just an extra game for
all of those players. You know, we don't really want
to play much. It's more for the coach to kind
of see who could be the next one. So it's

(27:40):
usually like the new guy you know, coming to the
team to do like something good about it. But for
the US, yeah, playing all those you know, let's say
not high level country in soccer, it's and do you know,
let's say a big flight across the Atlantic every time
to complay it. It's not fun for them because they

(28:02):
are tired jet like everything. They play one, you know,
one two games maybe and then go back when those
games doesn't have to get played or there is nothing
for you know, it's not a competition, and then you
have the competition for qualification. But now you know they
are automatically five of the World Cup, so how can
they be motivated too, Let's say play hard for their

(28:23):
country and the motivation right now It's like you say,
nobody knows who is going to play and they have
a new coach and or I don't know what he's
going to do. But it's pretty much here, everybody started
the same way. Now show me what you can do
when you play for your country. Do you have the
desire to have your heart to play for the team
or you play for yourself?

Speaker 3 (28:42):
It's I think it's just, you.

Speaker 6 (28:45):
Know, try to build, you know, the best compatible team
to play for each other and let's say not be
ridiculous during your own World Cup.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
And the one thing with Jessin Marsh's quote, not only
was he PRIs in Canada criticizing US Soccer as an organization,
but I think he had some questions about the players.
Like we just said, do they have the desire? Do
they care about their European careers more than they do
performing for the country. And I can't answer that because

(29:16):
there's some guys that are playing really well in Europe
and not playing well for the US, and then there
are other guys that are playing for the US but
can't even get time with their clubs. So I'm just
questioning everything from the players to the coaching, to the
development and of the direction of how we're going to play,
what kind of strategy, what are we going to use.

(29:38):
It's it's a mess right now for US soccer men's cider,
not the women.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
This is what happened with Belgium.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
You know, they had that beautiful Golden generation de Bruynner, Hazard, lacu.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Veho culti, everyone in between.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
And how many turphies do they get out of that sessue?
And I think one of the problems with that is
because the level talent was so big, and Belgium is
not necessarily a country that is just producing bodies all
the time. You had a situation with Belgium where they're like,
all right, we're gonna ride these guys out in for
the tape pops. But then what happens with francis every

(30:16):
once in a while, Yeah, you got Grizman and you
got all these guys.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Who've been there for forever.

Speaker 5 (30:20):
But you know, at this year, Didier Deshaump said, all right, Grizmand,
you're not starting anymore. You might have to come off
the bench now because there are people ahead of you.
You know, there might be more talented individuals than you.
And I'm like, or we cannot grandfather. This US national
team into the World Cup if they're just not going
to put up anything that shows me that they're ready
for it, you know, like we cannot just.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
Sit with holistic.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
And Way and Musa because ah Musa decided to convert
from an Englishman to an American and that's and for us,
that's a big deal. You know, Oh man, a European
wants to be in a United States, Like that's a
big deal, and like that's not It shouldn't be a
big deal. It should just be like, Okay, cool, he
found himself an opportunity. But it's like these guys have

(31:04):
not done enough winning of anything outside of the Gold
Cup that has me saying, yes, they are ready to
defend their homeland and what will be probably the most
talked about, expensive planned World Cup in the history of
the sport.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
There's so much riding on this World Cup in the
United States for the future of and like you said,
even the future of Canadian soccer.

Speaker 4 (31:28):
There's Mexican soccer.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Yeah, there's North American soccer riding on this and I
have no confidence and we're going to find out. October twelfth,
they play against Panama in Austin and then Mexico three
days later in Guadalajara.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
Oh, so they're leaving the country.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
They're leaving in the country.

Speaker 5 (31:45):
That's also something that bothers me. We never leave the country,
and we never test ourselves. Everyone comes to Kansas City
or Columbus, and that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
We don't even put.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Them in major cities anymore. No, we send them to
No disrespect to Columbus, Ohio. We discussed. It is a
real place.

Speaker 5 (32:00):
But I'm saying, we keep sending our national team to
like the most random parts of America. You know, We're
never send them to La anymore. We're not even sending
to Miami that often.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
They moved the friendlies in Kansas City. That game against Canada, Yeah,
was supposed to be at seven o'clock at night. Yeah,
the Kansas City Current we're playing at seven thirty. They
moved the US men's national to three p thirty so
they want to compete, and they still didn't even have
half of that stadium, Sporting Case Stadium sold out.

Speaker 6 (32:30):
It's just so disappointing to jump on those guys like,
you know, you talk about the players and everything. It's
imagine when you play for the best team in Europe
for some.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Of them are the pressure.

Speaker 6 (32:43):
You know, they're there and they come here and nobody cares. Yeah,
the stadium is not fair, so it's kind of like
they come here as the player those game has no meaning,
So how do they want to be motivated? Like right now,
I think it's still too far from them to understand
the importance of the competition. But you need to have
people like come and watch and care and you know,

(33:06):
but it's not the case right now.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
So that's why when they come here for those games.

Speaker 6 (33:10):
You know, it's not disrespect or whatever, but it's just
like it's not motivating for them.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
It's which I totally understand.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
It's just like they play a big game, let's say
the weekend before with the club where they got like
trash talk by all the fans or whatever, we really
care when they lost, and then they come here and
it's kind of like, okay, well nobody really care too
much or we don't hear a lot about it. And
soccer is not still here yet in the country, and
when they're playing Considence is half of the stadium empty.

(33:37):
They can feel it too, so they're like, it's okay,
if you know, I don't.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Play my level.

Speaker 6 (33:41):
I'm still one of the best players in Europe. So
I'm going to come back, you know, next time, to
the team and play. It's it's very hard, you know,
when you have like a big difference between where are
you playing club and when you come back to your
own country.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
And some people care, but not as much.

Speaker 6 (33:56):
As you know you would be in a country like
like a soccer concrete.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
And just to wrap up this international break part, it
did suck. It sucked for the US, it sucked for
the Union participants. So I'll just run through it. But
Rebo was limited, Gazdagg didn't even make the trip. Blake
Injuris is growing. DJJ plays a full minute for a
Haiti and found the back of the net, but then
he got crushed on a slide tackle and hurt his

(34:23):
ankle and so we don't know where he's at and
that was injured. Well, well I was injured the twenty
ninth minute. So you know, this was not a good
experience if you're a US or Union fan for international soccer.
I guess we're just gonna have to hold our breath
and see what happens in October.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
At least we had a break.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, that was the good thing. Adam Sebastian and I
we took a week off. It was really that was
probably the highlight of the international break. Union news. Not
a lot of news out there. The rumor is still
training camp. We're gonna keep you updated. I'm trying to
find out when can we make an announcement when they're
gonna know, but we're gonna be talking about a new

(35:00):
spot for training camp and possibly I'm hoping for a
live pod. We're gonna see get your vaccinations. Uh League
four League news San Diego. Sergio Ramas is probably gonna
go to San Diego. That's the rumor. Okay, yeah, sure,
the rich getting richer. The hell is real was zero zero,

(35:22):
so I guess hell is reel in uh in Cleveland
and I mean Cincinnati and Columbus.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
It was real from my eyes. Yeah, sure.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
L Traffico was four to two in the Galaxy's favor
Are the Galaxy back? The Galaxy?

Speaker 5 (35:34):
I think might be bad. The Galaxy are bad? Yeah,
or l A FC is kind of falling like weirdly
still good, but kind of falling off at the exact
same time, like they're not l A f C.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
L A f C.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
But they're all like very good. It's just like I
don't know if they're the Kings I'm used to them being.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Yeah, I'm not sure what's going along in the West
Western Division, but it's it's something to keep an eye on.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Slop a lot of slop out West.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
And remember remember September twenty fifth, all u US Open
Fans Open Cup Finals the twenty fifth on Apple TV
at ten thirty at night Eastern time. I don't think
only if the Union were in that what I stay.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Look, look, I love the Open Cup.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
You sucker's just like everywhere.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
I'm the biggest Open Cup guy.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
I will be the first person you how bad they
have been at marketing themselves as just a competition for years,
and like you had an opportunity with all the eyes
to be like, hey, we're gonna have some attention on
us for once. You know, people are going to pay
attention because you know all the protests that have been happening,
how it's disrupted all these things. And then they were like, hey,

(36:45):
we're going to put a final between LAFC and Kansas
City at nine to thirty Kansas City time.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Yeah, okay, are we are? We are we Italian.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
Now is this are we watching Calchow on a Sunday
at eight thirty?

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Like?

Speaker 4 (36:59):
What you doing here? Nine to thirty for a final?
Nine thirty for a final? Look whatever?

Speaker 5 (37:07):
I just I don't like either organizations because they've taken
trophies from me on on two different moments.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
But I mean, and keep in.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Mind then yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's not even
a weekend, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
It just it makes zero sense, like I anyway.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Sorry, So around the soccer New World La Liga has
introduced FIFA's new no race Racism gesture for referees. So
now the refs have a gesture, i'lla NFL football to
let people know that there's a racist happening either in
the crowd or on the field.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
Okay, yeah, I don't know what this means, but it's going.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
To be interesting. Maytimes this gets called.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
There's been a say a not to racism campaign for
like fifteen twenty years in FIFA.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
How's that going?

Speaker 3 (37:57):
How?

Speaker 4 (37:58):
How are you going? Good? How are you doing with
that speak?

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Good? Now?

Speaker 2 (38:03):
We did we cure, but we've got we've got a
signal for it now, I mean.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
Like again, I me as a black man. I like
not racism, but still that seems now on the opposite
side of this, uh.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
In a LA League team, Hugo Malo has been found
guilty of one count of sexual abuse towards a team mascot.
A team mascot before a game in twenty nineteen. He
allegedly touched the breasts of the woman who is wearing
the parakeet costume. So he hassaught a woman and a
parakeet at the same time. So he's found guilty of

(38:41):
one count. I can't make this up. So La Liga is.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
Saying no to racism.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
I guess I don't want to laugh about this book.
Good God, what is going on over in Spain right now?
And Sebastian, you vacation in Spain like once a year,
so maybe you can give us some insight on what's
going on.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Guys, I'm living in America is eighteen years now. I
don't over there.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Eighteen years Yeah, that is. We're gonna have to have
a twentieth anniversary for you.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
You're you're you're American self cana by cigarettes. That's how
old he is now he's been here. Yeah, you can
gamble in the US now and not all states, not
New Jersey.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
Oh yeah, true, but yeah, this has been a long time,
so I don't know what's going.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
On the way the way it's craziness. Just yeah, right, answer, the.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
World is crazy. And then uh, just just since we
are going to play New York City, it looks like
and why see FC's parent team, the New York Yankees,
their daddies, Yeah, have a collabed with AC Milan for
their own fashion and Adam, you would actually like this,
would I look pretty sharp? Except it's a combination of

(39:48):
the AC Milan logo in the New York Yankees logo,
very streetwear. Very you know, I'm sure the Cooligans will
be wearing it.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
I mean, why would you not, except for don't they
have a deal with Fan City or something like that.
They should, but it's just whatever anyway.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Whatever, Yeah, that's talk the world. So everyone, we're gonna
wrap it up. I want to thank of course Sebastian
the two for joining us, Adam Booth for joining us. Guys,
what are we thinking? We got New York City on Wednesday.
We're all saying we're getting on a result, right, you
get four points out of the weekend Sebastian, you agree

(40:22):
four points out of this week.

Speaker 3 (40:24):
Yeah, it'd be great.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
I would like that, all right, and then we will
talk to you next week as we wrap this up.
So everyone, thank you so much for tuning into X's
in the U. This was episode nineteen, bringing everything in
the universe and apparently what's going on in Spain too.
Thanks a lot, everyone, have a great day.
