Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ex president of the Sons of Ben Matt Gantastic X
head Capo Adam Booth X player and forever a Union
legend Sebastian Latou. These may be exes, but they're the
experts when it comes to the Philadelphia Union. This is
Exes in the U.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Welcome back, everybody to another episode Exes in the U.
Oh man, what a week we've got ahead of us,
behind us, all around us. And it's a holiday weekend too.
You know what could be better? So again, I am
joined by former KAPA head Capo Adam Booth and current

(00:40):
Union legend Sebastian Latwo. Gentlemen, how are we doing on
this beautiful Friday morning?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Tired?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
When he's Tydam, I'm happy to see this sun today.
Tonight's Dan great with for the game tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Oh, Tomorrow's game looks absolutely phenomenal. But before we get
into that, Adam seba New York City City Field, the
Union lose one zero in a pitcher stall. I don't
have a lot to say about this game. I hope

(01:17):
you guys have more, because it just was disappointing all
over the place, at least in my mind. Which one
of you, gentlemen, want to take the reins of this
recap of New York City SABA you want to jump.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
In, Yeah, I go first. I mean, there's been two
games that we don't score, which you know could be
a little like alarm you know, to kind of like, hey,
let's let's get more offense, you know for the team.
You know, we started really strong, you know, scoring so
many goals in the first three games. Now it's kind

(01:51):
of like, you know, the first time that you know,
we got like three results without a win, not playing
let's say, great offense TV. I think we kind of
like we're liking of of solution, you know, liking of
maybe you know, movement or you know, the way to
break out of the New York City defense. Knowing that, yes,

(02:11):
we talk about it, you know, playing on a baseball field,
it's never is it. It's not as much pace on it.
But yeah, I feel we're kind of like always doing
the same thing, you know, crossing, try to have like
hope hope football, you know, into the box. It was
a lot of shot from distance, you know, most of
them were you know blocked by by New York. But yeah,

(02:35):
I feel like the the creativity offense needs need to
be better. But I think it's the first time. Let's
say now, you know, and it's still in the season,
the team, let's they come to a little adversity to
react this weekn Atlanta and get a police results. So,
you know, a lot of things happened in the past
a week or two, you know, between the cars that trade,

(02:56):
a few injuries, you know, like in this game, we were
missing Andre you know, pretty much not having him to
it's a it's a bumber. So you know, it's a
lot of little thing for the team. But yeah, they
just need to, I think, find a way and somebody
need to you know, become more ready there into the
offense to to try to get the goals. I feel
Barribone dam Any you know, sometimes have the same style

(03:19):
of play. You know, there's a not a lot of
run or third runner you know into the space to
you know, open those lines. But yeah, it's a I'm
not you know, let's say crazy, like, oh my god,
what's happening. I think it's just a movement of the team.
And I always happen in a season as goodly happens early.
But we I think for sure need to see something

(03:41):
different against Atlanta. Offensively just to you know, get more offense.
I feel like Areo didn't really attack. You know, New
York CLFC was more consoled about defending. And I think
the team is very sex sex successful. When Wagner and
are like push forward, and when we have them pushing forward,
you have more people in the box, you cannot create
more movements. And yes we can get counter attack against this,

(04:05):
but it's what happened against Orlando. You know, we want
four two and you could have been four for. But
you know, at the end, Rick could made a save
in the first half. You know, the second is the
goal we got against that game was a little bit
you know, it's fortunate. I think he should have not
come out, you know, as far. I think he misread
the play. But yeah, you know, it's a working process.

(04:28):
But yeah, I'm not too worried. I think the guys
who should have a good reaction this weekend against that LATA.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Yeah, I mean one nothing game Rixen for Blake, which
are like, wow, I didn't even expect that at first.
And you know, like you said, that goal was just
a mistake on mostly rix fault. You know, Rex part Adam,
your thoughts on this and your thoughts on Wayne Pennsylvania's

(04:55):
least favorite son, who got a clean sheet.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Look, first, I want to I think we don't really
give credit enough to the pipeline of goalies that the
Union have created for Major League soccer, between Freeze, between McCarthy,
you know, between all these guys who get out there,
and it just seems like, you know, Andrew Rick, he's

(05:21):
still a little green, you know, he still has some
moments of youth behind him. But I feel like he
will be another, you know, really solid major League soccer
goalie in his future as well. You know, I think
this game was a slop fest in every conceivable way.

(05:42):
At this point, I'm tired of complaining about play playing
on baseball stadiums because it's just the mean. It is
what it is at this point, you know, and if
there's any benefit to it. This was the slightly larger
baseball stadium that we played in, and it's also a
stadium that New York doesn't play in as off, so
maybe the playing field is a little level in that respect.

(06:03):
But ultimately, look, you have a situation where you get
sixteen shots only three of them get.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
To the net.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
That's not great. Gotta figure out why that's the situation?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
There?

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Is it service?

Speaker 4 (06:16):
You know?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Is it the fact that you are missing some key components?
Is it the fact that you're still trying to figure
out what the next steps are offensively without godzdag could
be all the above and truth be told. To lose
that game only one nothing not that bad, all right,
Like we are all prone for panic anytime a loss happens,

(06:39):
especially in a sport where you only play about thirty
six games anyway, But I look, there's worst losses that
you can definitely have, and I definitely believe you're in
a position to rebound this weekend, burn the tape. But
if there's anything to take from this, you do have
to figure out why you can get sixteen shots on

(06:59):
goal or sixteen shots but the only thing you won't
get on you know, And you have to figure out
where is the precision coming, because it's you're getting opportunities clearly,
you're in positions to put this in and around the net, clearly,
but you're not getting them on frame. And as good
as I believe Matt Freeze is, if you only have
to save three balls the whole game, he's gonna probably

(07:22):
get a clean sheet. That's how talented he is.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
So yeah, the stat that I read was, you know,
we've won one win in the last five games and
we haven't scored in the past two. So that's just
something you said. They're we're getting opportunities, but they're not
making them into great opportunities. They're they're pretty you know,
I hate to say it week week looking shots on

(07:47):
goal where you know you or I could probably block these.
So I'm not sure some of you as a goal
striker when when these guys are doing that where they're
they're getting opportunities but not getting like great shots on
how do you prepare for that? How do you how
do you can math that? How do you come back
out against Atlanta and and and and start really firing
on on goal? You know, how do we get Guzana

(08:09):
sit down?

Speaker 4 (08:10):
I mean sometimes you know, like you go through little droughts.
You know, you happen to me in my career, so
it's you know, you need to take confidence, you know,
because that's always come in your head when you don't,
you know, from the ball in the back of the
net after I feel like, you know, Danienni coming into
the team with Baribum, you know, it's kind of like

(08:30):
a little interchange between the three. Not sure who's going
to play this weekend, but you need to find you know,
like the automatism you know between between them and chemistry,
it's very important. I feel like when you play with
two forward, it's always a you know you have it
or you don't. You know, it's something you know, like
I felt a lot when I play with the Aarondo Moreno,

(08:51):
you know, sometimes with any one guy it's like you
need to communicate, like sometimes it's just a relationship, you know,
between two guys three guys, you know, to make things work.
But it takes a few games. It's not you know
right away. Sometimes so I think, you know, we the guys,
the guys in front, can do a better job doing this,
you know, playing off each other, you know, kind of
knowing the strength of each other, the stuff they like

(09:13):
to do to maybe play better together. And and then
I feel like it's a service too, like we just
talk about it, like I don't think that receive a
lot of the ball. You know, it's usually like hopefull
ball into the box and stuff. You know, when you're
forward and you're marked well because you guys know bad.
But I always see the leading scorer you know, the
league with six goals, so they're like, okay, we're going

(09:35):
to mark him tight, not live a lot of space.
So it's it's not always easy because you have extra
attention on you. So he has to come from somebody
else to you know, create something as well. But yeah,
it's a little thing, you know, between confidence, playing well together,
the chemistry in front, you know, with the guys, and

(09:55):
and knowing too, you know. I think in the mid
field of the union, hopefully I see there could maybe
that guy to create more, you know, with like more
vertical paths you know, to find not always just side
to side and hopeful for a cab in a cross,
you know, to to help the team win. So I
would like to see that more, you know, like more
and more energy. That's what I talk about that I

(10:17):
feel like the energy kind of slow down a little
bit the past couple of games, the way they've been
attacking and you know, flying forward to put the ball
in the back of the net. So yeah, you have
to come from everybody.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
You know.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Lukage did it at the beginning, you know, like it
cannot be always him, you know, he has to always
be somebody else, know, to step up posing for one
number one on the list, you know, a queen still
looking for his first goal as well. It's kind of like,
you know, all of those things need to come together,
but the next time it just you know, can we yeah,
bring everything together in one game and and feel like, okay,

(10:51):
we saw the relationship you know between the variables. The
diamond is the Vassie left the valuable like the queen,
and you know, finding the good paths to the variable
not always just shooting from you or three years out
or you know, try to do a hopeful boying across
and hopefully hoping for the best. So it takes time,
but yeah, does sometimes comes in mind. And I hope

(11:11):
it's still early. Like I said, there's nothing to worry about.
We are still you know, in a good place in
the standing. But I think as fun and you know,
knowing the team, you always want know, you know, especially
when you didn't score a goal in the past two games.
So yeah, I kind of want to have a you know,
a great defermance against Alan because it's a good team

(11:31):
as well, and I think we can do it. It's
just it's a little day click you know you can
go always both ways. It's it's the beauty of the sport.
It's something you can be like on the roll and
sometimes you're like, why is it not working? And he
has to come from you know, everybody. It's not just
one or two players. It's the entire group in the team,
the coaching stuff, and end the fan as well.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, well, I know as a fan, we we definitely
are hoping for more, you know, goals to get this
team clicking again and the energy you talked about Adam,
speaking of disappointment, I wanted to get to Union News,
but I wanted to start this off with what I
thought was one of the most disappointing things this season
Union Yards Kai Ti. I sampled the Kai Tai drink

(12:14):
at Union Yards, and let me tell you, everybody out
there for twenty four dollars after tip for one drink,
don't make the same mistake Matt made. Don't get it
not good, don't don't do it great name, bad execution,
don't do the kaitai. Just saying in fact, since they've
had the Kai Tai, I don't think we've won a game.

(12:35):
So I'm calling for a ban on the Kai Tai
until they reformulate it. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
But just just let you know what I believe they
haven't realized in the city yet is if you put
a tiny statue of William Penn on top of your beverage,
it means you're gonna win a championship. So, like, that's
how it works here. You always need to keep tiny
statues of William Penn and to put on top of

(13:01):
structures and objects to then declare them worthy enough of championships.
That's how we do.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
So the Kai Tai is served in a bucket on
the Yes, they pre make it, so they should put
a Billy Penn on top of that bucket.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
On top of the bucket or the or the mixing
station for which it is made in either way, put
the William Penn once top of like.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Look, they could dip copper Billy Penn in that drink
and it still won't make it any worse.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Look, here's the thing. Union. I'm available for creative directing purposes.
If you need someone who wants to curate a better menu,
maybe talk to some mixologists. We can talk. You know,
I understand not everything's going to be a home run,
you know, you have some thoughts. They're good thoughts, but uh,
you know, maybe we can work on this, Maybe we

(13:47):
can workshop this a little bit.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
And we know you're available from the hours from four
four am to seven am, so that's a great time
for you to do some of that work.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Let me tell you, I do some of my best
work between the hours of four am and seven am,
which is set my Phillies team up on my MLB
the show twenty three play through where I think I'm
in the year twenty twenty nine, and I have Ronald
Acunya and sho Hao Tany on the roster. So you're
boys doing well.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Very good. Other news, the primary transfer window closes on Wednesday,
the twenty third. I don't think we're expecting much. But
the big news Adam and Seba's favorite tournament is coming
back to Subaru Park May seventh. The Union face Indy eleven.

(14:33):
It is May seventh. I believe it's a Wednesday, right,
May seventh. Guys, what do we think of the attendance?
We getting over ten thousand people for this one.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
I hope it's six six and a half people, and
I hope I can hear Seba from the broadcast booth
down in the river end, because that's that is the
Open Cup.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
I loved.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
I loved an Open Cup where all of us had
to move to the middle of this river because there
was not enough of us to spread out. You know,
I love I love that old school feel because you
know what, we got too many of these transplants. Now,
got too many of these people invading the space. I
want to get back to the roots, you know. I
want to get back to the essence, like the salts
of the earth. You know.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
See, I'm opposite because of all the complaining I saw
on social media's last year, I'm expecting seventeen nine hundred
and eighty seven people and people outside the gate the
way people were complaining that you took away my Open Cup,
And I'm like, I know who you are behind your
Twitter egg and you are never at an Open Cup game.
We haven't had a home game since twenty eighteen for

(15:37):
the Open Cup.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
That blows my mind. And I was thinking about that
the other day because like we've been in the Open Cup,
like they just took the Open Cup last year. Yeah,
but we haven't had an Open Cup in Philly yet.
You had the pandemic, yeahda YadA, YadA. But still it's
been like six years, six years since we've had.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Longer because open was my first year as president, twenty eighteen.
We're talking black and white, olden days. They have to
pick up the phono go well, holy, Holy, that's how
long ago it was since we've had an Open Cup game.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Look, I love the Open Cup, and you know, I'm
thinking about it. I love about the Open Cup. And
you know, Sebastian Latwo is the all time leading scorer
in the competition. He probably loves the Open Cup as well.
But one of the things I love about the Open
Cup is just the idea that I get to see
Indy eleven. I've heard about these guys. They've been like
social media darlings over there for a while. I love

(16:31):
their name, love their badge. They sometimes play in Lucas
Oil Stadium, which is cool as hell for them, So like,
this is what I love. I hated when we played
other MLS clubs in the first round. That bothered me.
I was like, uh oh, I don't want to play
Columbus again. You know, I don't want to play New
England again. Give me the Rochester Rhinos, you know, give

(16:53):
me a PENNFC. Give me to give me like some
of the Richmond kickers, like.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
I want, I want someone I have to see Northeastern Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Yeah, bring me the nor' Easters. Oh my god. Yes,
I love that stuff. So, you know, love your Open Cup.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Glad it's back now, Sebastian. It's true, you're in training
to retain that goal scoring lead and you're gonna make
an appearances as a guest for against India eleven.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
No, it is false news, fake news, fake news. Yes,
no I am not, but yes, I am still currently
the leading score in the competition in the modern era.
If I guess you go with the world of the people.
But yeah, I love this competition. I want it my
first you know time with Seattle, so I have one

(17:39):
title in this country. But now it's a good competition.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
I like it.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
Unfortunately, Adam, I will not be there.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
For that game.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
I am.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
I am away from my coaching license, so I will
not be you know, supporting the team, but I will
be watching. But it's it's a fun competition, especially when
you have a team like yeah Indie to come and
try to upset you. You're going to albably see maybe
some changing in the lineup from the Union since the
MIDWIO game. He might see guys you don't see a lot,

(18:09):
So it's it's a you know, a chance for all
the guys who don't have a lot of playing time
to show what they can do. And usually it's what happened.
And all the time when I wanted to Seattle, we
pretty much play like the bench player until the semi
final and then you know it was like the best
team to go win it. So yeah, it's a I

(18:29):
think it's a good competition for the group because he
means something. It's not just a friendly game that you
just play and you know, you know you don't play
the best player, but it's just to helping others in
the group, and the Union group needs that, especially with
the young guys, to play, show what they can do
and beat teams who are very hungry. You're going to
see in the eleven who's going to to want to

(18:49):
come here and get a result. So yeah, it's gonna
be a fun game, and of a fully suber Park
would be not just two or three thousand, but you
know like six, seven, eight, maybe ten would be great.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
And no Indy is coming off beating Miami FC. No, no, no, no,
not that Miami nor the other Miami. But they came
off an extra time win. And when we beat in
the eleven, I'm getting confident. Now we face either Pittsburgh
or New York City and we get the home match,

(19:22):
so we'll have a second home match win. Could you
imagine if.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Pittsburgh beats New York City, bring on the River Hounds.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Can we have a state championship?

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Yes? Can we get a Commonwealth Cup going here? Can
we please like that? See here's the thing. I'm actually
a big advocate for pro rel myself. I love the
idea eventually of the whole pyramid being open. I understand
why the multi millionaire close to billionaire owners of Major
League Soccer would be against it. I'm an economics person

(19:56):
as well. I get it. You don't want to be
open to losing money like that by going down in
your division if you're Chicago or someone else. But anyway,
but I just love the idea that the Open Cup
gives us this opportunity to just make the pyramid open
and have you know, Christos FC and all these random
like you know, uh, liquor stores and taco stands and

(20:20):
all this go all the way ac United, you know,
like that's that's that's the beauty of the of the
Open Cup. And again I get to see the whole roster,
like this is the stuff that made Danny Cruz and
Michael o'hood heroes and the people's eyes in Philadelphia, you know,
the Open Cup.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah, so Open Cup May seventh. Get your ticket, all
six thousand of you. But yeah, other union news, and
we didn't cover it last week because I just missed it,
but uh, the Union signed a Neil Pierre to to
a contract, So I guess we've got them for a
couple couple games we're going to see, so try to

(21:00):
get some depth in that center back so we may
see him coming up shortly. And then we've got the
Club World Cup coming to Philadelphia. I don't know if
you saw that, but FIFA's president was in town, running
the Rocky stairs, doing everything, pandering to the crowd, donating
a million dollars to youth soccer and everything.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
But he was so European the whole time, Like he
was like he was like my first holiday in Philadelphia,
like clichade to the maximum. Outside of going to Patentinos.
I was like, I'll look at him on holiday.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Yeah, exactly, and again July fourth weekend, everyone Nashville, Philly
Sports Trips dot Com, Sebastian Latou fireworks, we get the
revenge on Nashville. It's gonna be a good time, So
get out there. We I actually made some arrangements for
some special items coming our way for that. So you know,

(21:57):
if you're a fan of laundry, let's say we're going
to have some, So Adam, you might want to try
to get a get a boy's day you and Leo
come out to Nashville. You know, see if you strap
them in.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
I think my son has to get a couple of
more shots before I'm allowed to bring them to the South.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Yeah. And then remember August second, we've got the Frankfurt game.
Maybe the return of Packson Aaronson We're gonna see. So
that's that's Union news, and then let's get into League news.
The Board of Governors authorized a second phase of exploration
into the potential move to international soccer calendar. No change

(22:37):
till twenty twenty seven, but they're exploring that move to
move to a European international calendar, which I know, Suba
you're in favor of. I'm mixed because I hope that
they do it right where we want it. Sea games
in February in the Northeast, and we would travel to
Orlando or Miami, but I don't know if we would
if the schedule makers of the MLS are good enough.

(22:59):
But they're they're they're they're taking it to another phase
for for internet any I know we've talked about it,
but any thoughts on on that, guys.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
I mean, I think it's possible again, it's just yeah,
it's just then like the question, like the question of
making I think it's possible. The thing is can the
team make enough money because of the TV right and
the fire you're going to compete again NFL. You are
going to complete at all the sports, you know, because

(23:31):
right now just baseball pretty much of course hockey you know,
with the player starting. But it's it's all of that.
It's it's all about I think money, TV rights, you know,
having the team being followed. But I think you know, calendar,
especially if you put the same calendon in Europe, you'll
be the same date for international, which is much easier,

(23:54):
you know, to manage the roster. You're not going to
play a game with missing you know, six guys or
you know seven guys or hopefully is the team starting
to have been more and more international players in that team,
and then yeah, it's you know, in Europe there is
you know, thirty eight game in a season, you know
in regular plus they have like a cup and the

(24:14):
shield and you know whatever it is. So it's a
lot of games, plus the guys who play Champions League.
So it's possible to make it. You know, it's especially
if you maybe have a very break in the winter,
which could be you know happening, just because we all
know the whether it's tough in the Northeast. But yeah,
they could make it, but it just maybe a team
will be on the road for you know, three weeks

(24:36):
at a time. But it's uh.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
I think you would see more weekday games too. I
think you'd see like, okay, the Union or Lando on
a on a Saturday, but then they're gonna play Miami
on a Wednesday. I think it's gonna see more of
that because you don't want to face the NFL every
weekend or college football, so I think they would try
to take advantage of midweek games too. I think maybe
that works.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
But and it's what you know a baseball tim does
you know when they go to the you know, West Coast,
they do a trip, you know, they spend like, you know,
two or three weeks out to just play all the
team over there and came back. So it could be
one of the things I think we can see from
from MLS as well, to just play you know a week,
you know, like you said, like a Saturday Wednesday or
you know La and you know San Diego and then

(25:18):
you do it again and you do like Vancouver, Seattle,
you or whatever you could be, but you could be
a possibility, especially like saving on trips and money for them.
So we'll see. It's uh, it's it's not a lot
of like four and you know against but at the
end it's you will know that money and decided for
a lot of.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Things, casuals, everything around us. Adam, let's a little sad news.
I don't know if you saw this, but former.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
I have so many thoughts. Oh, I don't even know
if you knew so many thoughts.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Well, let's let's hear your international calendar thoughts.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
For that rolling twenty five minutes and we got time.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Here we go.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
One.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
I think it's a bad idea. Only for everything that
Sepi said in terms of television and in terms of
competition of other sports, you're gonna get swallowed, especially in
some of your best markets. You're gonna get swallowed. Because
if you have a Saturday in Columbus, Ohio, do you
think called the Columbus FC is gonna outdo anything that

(26:21):
revolves Ohio State in the city that day? You know?
Can you even have the two playing on the same
day and make that a logistical not nightmare? You know?
Like that's one for things like the idea of you
trying to play the sport against the NBA is regular.
I mean, like even the NBA knows it can't really

(26:43):
be a major entity until after the NFL is done
because it'll always be swallowed to the point where the
NFL has taken Christmas from them, you know. So it's
one of these things where I'm like, does soccer have
enough market share all ready to then infiltrate the normal
calendar of sports in America and it not be swallowed

(27:05):
by it? Some markets, yes, other markets know, and ironically
the larger markets that it needs for sustainability or the
markets that it doesn't have, it doesn't have new York.
It doesn't have Philadelphia, it doesn't have Houston, it kind
of has Los Angeles, but it doesn't have a lot
of the other major markets that you would need to
make that sustainable during the winter time. And also, and

(27:27):
this is the irony is Seba told me about this
after the last time I tried to justify the geographical
location of America versus Europe, being like, well, if they
can have the Winter League in Copenhagen, why can't we
have it in America. North American winters are harsher than
a lot of European winters, especially in the northern parts
of the country. So I'm like, I don't know how,

(27:49):
Like we have a majority of all of our teams
in this country play above the Mason Dixon line, I
don't know how that's going to be sustainable in a
winter calendar, playing in that level of cold. I understand
the travel, but you know, historically MLS was putting these
guys on charter on wasn't even playing these guys on
charter planes. It's all a couple of years ago. So
I just don't really like it until we figure out

(28:12):
a lot about the logistics. And I think it's gonna
take more than two years to figure that out.

Speaker 4 (28:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Now your other question was.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Got I go to always said like if there is,
like I kind of look at the days, maybe twelve
to fourteen teams. The weather is okay, you know in
the winter, like it's the same that you don't want
to go play in Dallas and your son in July
it's hot, grocious, you know, and we did it so
many times, so like you could play like when the

(28:41):
weather is less the worst, which usually is what January,
like December, January, February. I would say like those three
months because you start this is in the twenties, you know,
second of February is this year, and play at home
so it doesn't change a lot. And you play in
the city against Miami in the stadium with minus you know,
three degrees, it will happen. You just don't know the weather,
especially with the climate right now change. Nobody knows what's

(29:02):
going to happen. Like it's kind of crazy. But you
can spend three games or the entire month of you know, January,
and you just play on the West coast, or you
play in Texas or you're playing Florida for all the
West coast team like Boston, New York, Philly, Minnesota, Columbus,
like all those guys. Okay, you're not going to be
home for for those months plus. It's great because nobody

(29:23):
wants to come to watch a game in the stadium
at that time, so they're prepared to take maybe a
trip with a cheap flight to go see a game
in La or go to you know, Florida and Orlando.
It's I feel like it's it's possible, but it's like
you said, the people at the league who make the
schedule need to do a good job to know. Okay,

(29:44):
the weather at that time of the year, it's, you know,
a great weather to play, so occur and not make
make me play you know, in Houston and it's one
hundred and ten degrees with a one hundred percent humility.
It's terrible.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
So what you're saying is we need to bring back
the Tampa Bay Mutiny that we can have more teams
in the South so we can even out the numbers. Listen,
and then the schedule can work out that we can play.
We need more Southern teams.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
We could play Vancouver in December because they have a dome,
and then we can all go to Whistler and go
skiing and snowboarding. I'm alright with that.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Oh my god. I just I'm just thinking, can you imagine,
like they can't do this, but can you imagine just
Minnesota in January doing anything.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I don't want to go to Minnesota in October anyway.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
We have to send Minnesota on like a month long
vacation down to the Deep South and say here, you're
playing Florida, you're playing Texas, you're playing in LA. We'll
see you in March and back home.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
And what you can change is like you can play
everybody like we have like study plus team now in
the league, play everybody they don't like. I really don't
like it when you play like Boston's three times two
at home, one away, it's I don't like it.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
It's not you know, I think we should be on
this committee. That's what I think.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Like, as a fan, you want to play against every team.
You know, you don't want to just evencouver every three years,
or you know, you want to play one home, one away.
Everybody does it, and that's it. It's how it should be.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
I want to see Austin, I want to see Seattle,
you know, I haven't seen the Galaxy in forever. You know,
I can't even tell you last time we seen San
Jose in Philadelphia. Like it's one of those weird things
where I'm just like, yeah, I don't want to play
New England three times in any year. We don't have
to play New England three times in a year anymore.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
But like I feel like it's especially with you know,
all the starts and everything, like you want to say, like, okay,
we play them when they were at their best, like
right now, the best team, you know, the LFC. We
don't play them a lot enough to you know, compare yourself.
You always play like the Montreal and you know whatever
the new like New England right now, well not very good.
It's tough to kind of like when you have like
a big game to compare yourself if you never play

(31:47):
them so and it doesn't create I like rival too,
you know, like you don't see the fans being celled about,
Hey we play LFS in a final we lost. We
want to play them a game before the year, but
we don't, you know, like Okay, well I guess there's
no animosity or you know, you know what I mean,
Like what the fanal looked for to be like, hey, okay,
you beat us this year.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
But we got to that yere, you know, yeah, and
you're one hundred percent right said, because like, one of
the greatest revalies in the NBA is Lakers Celtics and
that doesn't make any sense other than just the fact
that they played each other enough in finals to make
that a rivalry. And I'm saying like, you can have
cross country rivalries if you cultivate it, and Philadelphia LAFC

(32:28):
was budding to be one of those because when you
have a final like that, I'm Major League Soccer. I'm
trying to get LAFC in Philadelphia on the TV as
much as possible for the next two calendar years. Like
that's just me, you know, It's like I just say myself, Oh,
we had one of the greatest MLS Cup finals of
all time. I'm sure Philadelphia is upset about this. Philadelphia

(32:49):
being Philadelphia when it comes to sports, Maybe we should
have these guys play each other a bunch of times. Nope,
let's have them play New England three times in a year.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Yeah, So let's did a lot to do, but they
got they got two years well well speaking of a
cross country I mentioned Vancouver. I don't know if you
saw it at him, but they tried to outdro the
union with Rakino with a mouse. A mouse invade it
the pitch and the goalie scooped him up in his
goal cult you know, his hamburger helper gloves and got

(33:18):
rid of the mouse. But the funny thing was the
mouse almost over shot Brian White, who scored four goals,
and because of that, he's tied with Bribe over the
Golden Boot because of a four game match, four goal match.
I mean, so we need tie to have a four

(33:40):
goal one just to make sure heason in charge of
the Golden Boot.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
That's my thought.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
But that that was a hell of a game against
Austin FC.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
Look, I've always had a soft spot for the white Caps,
you know, maybe because they're all the way over there.
I don't see them too often, but man, they are
having a moment right now Vancouver.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Yeah. Yeah, So, And like I was saying, there is
sad news to report former FC Cincinnati player Aaron Bupenza.
He's passed away at twenty eight after falling from his
eleventh story building in China. So he left FC Cincinnati
was playing over in China. So rip in condolences out

(34:18):
to the FC Cincinnati family. And did you see the
Chicago Fires set an all time attendance record. I mean,
Chicago loves the fire. They had sixty two thousand people
at Soldier Field. Oh wait, they played Miami, that's why.
So that's why Miami sold out Soldier Field. I mean,
that's why Chicago sold out Soldier Field for the first

(34:41):
time and a long time. Was Messi came to town.
But and then Miami will face Vancouver next. That's on
the twenty fourth in Vancouver, four thirty April thirtieth in Miami.
This is Messi's first game in Canada. That's really odd

(35:01):
to me that this is his first game since he's
been in the MLS in Canada.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
So he went to before he went to Canada.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Yeah, can we get a tariff on him not coming
back then? Can we do something like that, like once
he's in Canada that Miami's got to pay one hundred
and twenty five percent tariff on bringing him back.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
If there's ever been an exception to that particular rule,
it is Leonel Messi. I can safely say that much.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
So yeah, that's that's the league news. I don't know
if you saw this being the Italian that you are, Adam,
but Western McKinney is among thirteen soccer players being investigated
for illegal gambling in Italy. That doesn't bode well for
the US men's national team or Western in Italy because

(35:47):
they kind of frown on gambling, don't they, Adam in Italy? Yeah,
well they do with their professional play.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
I mean, yes, yes, a professional athlete should not be gambling.
But let me tell you something they do not frown
on in Italy is betting, because that is a that
is a lifestyle. You go to Sicily right now, you
can find betting kiosks every like, you know, four to
five blocks sports too. They don't even care if it's

(36:14):
real or not.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Yeah, and then moss Lah commits to Liverpool. Our chances
assigning him for the Union just diminish because Liverpool signed
him to a two year deal.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Guys, it's Kevin de Bruyner. He's going from one shade
of blue to another. I don't know why you guys
don't see the riding on the wall. This man was
made for Chester.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
I think Miami has something to say about that.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
They how how even can they sign more players? How
there's supposed to be a salary cap?

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Matthew tell me, Adam, where there's a commissioner, there's a
way you know that.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
God, I'm just I was told this was supposed to
be on the up urns Tanner do a hissy fit,
and every day I feel like he was justified. But
that's fine.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
I'm over here, all right, guys. This week Saturday night, Atlanta,
Atlanta comes to town Saba.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
You call him the game, Yes, I am.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Well, let's say, let's let's chop this up. Atlanta is
in eleventh place, They're coming off of one zero loss
to New England. They are off to the worst game
start and their history. Can the Union take advantage of this?
Is my question? Which one of you gentlemen want to
tell me that we can take advantage of this first

(37:38):
and beat Atlanta?

Speaker 3 (37:39):
They better take advantage of this. It doesn't like look,
this is a this is there's no must wins this
early in the season. But if you do not kick
this dog while it is down on your home stadium
when you need a desperate win yourself after your release
in stretch, you gotta have a conversation with yourself, like

(38:01):
you have to take advantage of these guys.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Yeah, but we are probably missing Andre Blake way now
and then Baizo are all questionable for this game. So
so what are you thinking, Kim? Can we take advantage
of this this Atlanta team?

Speaker 4 (38:18):
I think we can, but again, don't be thinking it's
gonna be easy because there are other eleven plays. They
spend a lot of money, have a new coach as well,
you know, a new team. They have two guys on
front with Admiran and Latlas who is you know, pretty
good gout some goals already for them. So yeah, let's
be careful. But I think we are coming into like
a little stretch for the Union right now. I know,

(38:41):
hosting Atlanta, following week we host DC and then we
go to Montreal. Can we get the max points? You
know in those three games? I think it's it's going
to tell us a little bit. Okay, where are we at,
you know, because those teams I think as of now
we should be better than them from our wellbinion of
the season. So yeah, we need to try to get
me mom, you know, the mix point, especially at home,

(39:03):
you know, to win would be great and see what
we can do in Montreal. It's not always easy to
play there, especially because they are pretty bad as well
right now. But yeah, it would be we can get
nine out of nine points.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
I take it.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
But you plan now two teams in Atlanta who and
DC who have too big forwards, you know, good to
challenge for the defense. But I think we can do it.
It just again for me, just bring back the energy
and it's what I told in the show, and I
need the fans to bring it back as well. You know,
let's stop being you know, sleepy and know your tough weather,

(39:36):
but the guys need it, you know, on on the field,
when you feel the stadium really be behind you and pushing,
you feel the energy and you want to to attack more.
So hopefully all of that, you know, come out on Saturday.
But I'm pretty confident that we can do a good
game against Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
And it's gonna be beautiful weather, so there will not
be excuses for fans not to show. It's gonna be gorgeous.
It's a holiday weekend. You know, you've got to deal
with your family on Sunday. You might as well go
and have a really good time Saturday night at the
Soup and cheer on the boys. Adam, your thoughts on
the midfield? Are we gonna see some of the young

(40:16):
guys only Vasquez Cavin? I mean we we're still trying
to figure out who's coming in for Gazdag. What are
we gonna do? Like, what do you think we're gonna
see out there?

Speaker 3 (40:27):
I think you have to figure out I think they
should play, but I also think you have to figure
out of who you have in that like that veteran presence,
like between Indiana, between Quinn Sullivan, between a lot of
these guys that you think are midfielders with more offensive

(40:48):
per chanp. You got to figure out who wants to
take the reins for Gazdag. You know, that's the real
first question because if coach is gonna stay in this formation,
it requires a certain level of offensive prowess. And I
think about real quick when Alexandrovechkin passed Wayne Gretzky's goal total, right,

(41:11):
and it became a really big deal. And I believe
Alexandrovechkin first ballot Hall of Famer and one of the
greatest of all time.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
Duh.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
But someone wanted to point out and I found it
borderline hilarious that he's still about four hundred plus behind
and assists of Wayne Gretzky like he got him in goals,
but like no one remembers that Wayne Gretzky was a
pass first hockey player who also scored a lot of goals.
Like the man was a distributor. If you will, you

(41:39):
need someone to go from distributor Quinn Sullivan into let's
be ovechkin, you know, be a little bit more offensively forward,
And I think that's what I would hope for him,
because he does when he was motivated, he could be
as offensive as anybody else. It's for me, it reminds

(42:00):
me of Anthony Fontana, right. Anthony Fontana was a goal
hungry midfielder and sometimes it led to some defensive laps,
but for the most part, you always knew that he
was going to be sniffing around the net. I think
I just need a little bit more out of Quentin's
Sullivan in this moment to be that kind of a
sniffer around the net as much as he is a distributor.

(42:23):
And otherwise, yeah, bringing the kids, let's see what they got,
and especially you know the open cups coming up. I
would be shocked if Kevin's not getting substantial minutes against
India eleven. So we'll see what these guys are going
to come out with sooner or rather than later.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Yeah, Saba, your thoughts on the lineup? You know, is
it is it more Indiana replacing Gays Degg? Do you
think Bradley's going to get creative with some of the
young guys coming in?

Speaker 4 (42:47):
Yeah, I mean it could be he just you know,
it's been two games without raising a positive residor so
I don't see Breddy kind of being scared of making
change and giving us a chance to someone like I say,
I've Phoenix still a little bit early in the season,
and you know Indiana just started in New York, not
really like you know, the best field to start. You

(43:08):
want to give him one at home as well. I think,
you know the same between Damiani and Valible, you know,
like the chemistry is still not there is or maybe
going to come in. Its just like, yeah, a little
question mark on Foster, but a little bit more time,
more games to see what's going to happen. But I
you know, the Union two got a great win last

(43:29):
week against Atlanta five to one. Some guys who play
played well some of the young guys, so you know,
hopefully maybe you can see more of them coming off
the bench. If we don't see much happening, you know, offensively,
I feel like it could be a possibility. But now
I'm confident on the guys that are going to react,

(43:49):
and so I don't see a lot of change into
the lineup. It's more into the defense right now. You know,
between the right back you know, Areo or westfield. It
could be center back as well. You know, right now
we have like uh, you know, Makanya and Gladness. But
you know it's yeah, I don't think we can be

(44:11):
too much change. I think it's the same, but we
could seem, you know, quicker change during the game if
we still don't see a lot of creativity offensively, it's
my it's my point.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
Okay, Well, everybody, we're hoping we turn the falset back on,
get some good goals a bit against Atlanta. I am
hoping we see everybody out there at Super Roup Park
because it is going to be an absolutely gorgeous Saturday,
So no reason not to come out. If you're not there,
tune into the radio because mister Latou will be with
Dave Leno and everyone. Don't forget Sebastian. You still got

(44:47):
room in the camps for everybody down a while we're crushed.

Speaker 4 (44:50):
Yeah, sit room. I'm gonna post it on my social
media this weekend, but yeah, need to be quick because
until May first, we have a little discouncer. Make sure
you take advantage of it.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
All right, So May first, and Adam the Phoenix, you're
heating up right? When's the home opener?

Speaker 3 (45:08):
First game is away at DC for all you sickos,
I want to come down ninety five. I meet us
at Christian University. It's April twenty sixth, and then our
home opener is against Toronto, so we're going international with
tariffs and everything to start the season against the Toronto Rush.
And then May twenty third rivalry with the New York

(45:30):
Empire coming to town. And by the way, May fourth,
as you would suspect, is Star Wars Night, So if
anyone wants to enjoy some Frisbee and some Star Wars,
we're here for.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
You, all right, everybody, Well, thank you very much. This
was episode number thirty four. X's in the U. You
can hear us all on iHeartRadio as well as Fox
the Gambler and we're looking forward to a big win
against Atlanta tomorrow. Guys, thanks so much, and hap Easter everyone,
