Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ex president of the Sons of Ben, Matt Gantastic, ex
head Capo Adam Booth, ex player and forever a Union
legend Sebastian Latou. These may be exes, but they're the
experts when it comes to the Philadelphia Union. This is
exes in the U.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Welcome back everybody to them in another week of Union soccer.
What's happening in the Union Verse again? I am Matt
can Dazak, former president of the Son's Event. I'm joined
with ex head Capo Adam Booth and forever Union legend
Sebastian Latoo, and we are exes in the U. This
is episode number forty one. We are officially middle aged guys.

(00:41):
We are We're getting ready to wear some cargo shorts
and jeorts. It's gonna be a good time. But we
are now talking about your first place. I'll be morally bankrupt,
Team Adam. I don't know if you knew that, but
apparently they're culturally bankrupt according to one fan in Chicago.
But we are going to talk about the Union, So
don't we get into universus Chicago Union women one nothing,

(01:05):
And I mean here's the that's not even the weirdest
thing Aleandro and Padoya starts it right back. I mean
that that was probably the first thing I saw. I go,
what the hell's going on here?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
And you know what.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
We we Chris Donovan redeems himself from La and gets
us a penalty kick and we go up one nothing. Ah, Sebastian,
you want to take this over since you're the real
fan here and you can, you can let us know
how that game went.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Yes, you know, because I guess you didn't see the
game match, so I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Tell it for you.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
But now it was I would say, celius, celious game
from the team. You can't see that that a long
time with a little break to prepe that game, and
kind of before this good offense of Chicago who didn't
do much, I would say in that game. So he
was a very good defensive game from the team. And
at the end, yes's a bit lu key to get
this piquet from a Prisdonovan cross into the box and

(01:59):
just know, very good defensive play after being a point
zero and getting the three point which getting started on
the three road A game Chicago was maybe the easiest
out of the three, but I think it was still
pretty hard because they are pretty good when they play
at home. So now we got three points. Quick turnaround

(02:20):
and getting ready for Columbus, but we get the three
points with the starting nine ups that we are not
maybe thinking of saying, you know at the year, but
all the guys really stepped up and the big game
as a team to get the results.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, Adam, your thoughts on the game, and I mean
talking about.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Well, we talked about like last week and I think
I said it was one of the more impressive or
two weeks ago when the Union basically played with not
quite a skeleton crew but definitely not a full strength
squad and walked away with three points. I think this
might even top that win for me because this was

(03:04):
a professional win from a team that looks like they're
ready to actually compete for trophies. And it was something
where you might not have been at your best defensively,
you allowed probably more shots than you would have liked.
But Andrew Rick was for the task, you know. Starting
Badoya at right back was very it was unconventional. I

(03:25):
was almost looking for him and thinking he wasn't even
on the roster, and then I found that he was
at the very top right under Rick. And I was like, Oh,
that's where he's playing today. But you know, I think
this was a next man up mentality. You said, Hey, guys,
we don't have everyone to this week. You know, we're
still waiting for a couple of people to come back.

(03:45):
They'll be back soon, but we're still waiting for some
of them to come back. Can we hold it down
in Chicago against the Chicago team that, despite the fact
that they cannot win at Soldier Field to save their lives,
is not a he say, terrible team. So to come
out of there to g up early in the match,

(04:07):
you know, it's one thing to smash and grab, it's
another thing to defend for eighty minutes basically a one
nothing lead, and that's essentially what they did. And to
get the points here to keep yourself clear of both
Columbus and Cincinnati and Nashville who all won, you know,
I think that was really important as well. And this

(04:29):
was a professional win.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
The one quote I read Philly dot Com kind of
sums it all up, and it was about Padouia Bradley,
Carnell Vadoya is shown he's a real teammate. He understands
that we're on a special mission here and after seeing
the recaps, I was just you know, taking a page
out Adams booth where I was watching it on two
three times to speed to try to get what was

(04:52):
going on since I didn't miss the games I had
at an event yesterday. They're playing like a team, playing
and simple. I mean, what were we missing eight players
that we were missing from this? And they a lot
of teams or professional teams that rely on star players.
If they're missing their star player, I'm looking at U
six ers fold up. They fold like a folding chair.

(05:15):
So this team doesn't. They're down how many guys? You know,
some guys are coming back, but they're injured, and we've
got guys on injured guys on an international break and
they go into Chicago and they win. They got it done.
Was it the prettiest thing in the world?

Speaker 3 (05:29):
No?

Speaker 2 (05:29):
But was it a win? Yes? Are they in lead
for the Supporter Shield? Yes? Are they number one on
the East? Yup? So yeah, I know, there's nothing you
can say except holy crap. This team is showing signs
of being very special and this could be one of
those seasons that, as Union fans in five years from now,

(05:51):
you might be looking at highlights of this on your computer,
wondering like why you didn't thoroughly enjoy the twenty twenty
five Union team. So I was thoroughly, thoroughly happy. And
I'm glad, you know, not glad, but upcoming and we'll
talk about that is Columbus on a Sunday. Let's get
into a little bit of Union news. Guess who's back, Adam,

(06:14):
Adam and sebah Bribo's back. We got him out of there.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
You know.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
I don't know if it was a special ops or
just an American Airlines flight, but Baribo is able to
come back. He's still a little hurt, he's tweaked. So
and this is what we've got. Westfield's out with an ankle,
Barribo a calf ur A's still dealing with the gloin
Ian's still battling the meniscus, but we hear he's getting better.
And Bueno's got a hammy. But Bueno came in, so

(06:40):
I guess the hammy is is better. I do have
some other and I promised you guys Union Business Academy news.
Remember we were talking about how the Houston Texans stole
some people from the union. Adam, did you see another
member of personnel from the Union is leaving our area

(07:01):
technically and going to Houston. Do you know who that is?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Who's it this time?

Speaker 2 (07:06):
It is Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant got traded, minority owner
of the Philadelphia Union, has defected to go to Houston, Texas.
He's now a member of the Rockets. You know, I
was taken him for the Sixers. If we could have
gotten rid of Paul George straight up, I would have
made that deal in a heartbeat. But we're not a
Sixers Pods. So how you take Durant over? Yeah? Oh cute. Yeah,

(07:28):
congrats to Jacob gleasdis made the All Star Game, third
third star, third time on the All Star He'll be
in Houston, Texas and time makes the team, which you understand,
Golden boot. But no Kai. I'd like to get Adam
and Seba's opinion. I thought Kai has been putting on
a really good season so far. No All Star Game

(07:49):
sub about any thoughts on that?

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Yeah, I mean it's no Kai. It's uh we say
poor style game. You know ehel knows the best goo
U show. You know something, it's it's out to make it.
If you're not a designighted player in the mentality of
Wedy started and if it's a fans or if it's
everybody is a mix of everything. But I feel like
the Union being first have more than two players in it.

(08:14):
It's just how I feel. I think a LOOKI ordainly
could have made it as well, you know, because I've
been like amazing from Beigome of the Year. You can
you know, yeah, for Cai, you can talk keep them
like the right vacuation with Westfield, I mean it was
like some guy we really play playout.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
So it's it's okay.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
I think it just makes I think the team even
more hungrier to show that what they can do of
who is get a little chip on the should or
to not make the hor Star Game but converts to
tie and to you know, chake up to represent the
team over there and yeah, a little bit too or
start to don't see as much in player.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
But it's okay, I'm gonna take it.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
It's gonna be one less game for them so we
can focus more on the first team since right now
we have a few injuries.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
What would you add your thoughts on the Kai snub.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Good I mean that means he plays less matches, and
he doesn't have to travel to Texas. He doesn't have
to play. He does have to travel to like do
extra hours on a plane and extra hours of training
with guys he doesn't have to win games with. I'm look, man,
I'm anti All Star Game. I think I've said this
for a while, especially now with our league being the

(09:23):
way that it is. I think it's insulting to us.
I think it's insulting to MLS to have an All
Star Game, especially against single squads like they used to like.
I feel like it's just shows our desperation to be
accepted as opposed to a actual displaying of talent of
our league. So I'm against it. And I'm happy that

(09:46):
Yakub and Tye are getting recognized for how good they
are as players. But if they could do that and
not go to Texas, I would love that too. That
would probably be the ideal thing for me. So I'm
anti All Star games. Historically, I think they've run their
course in every sport pretty much. I don't know why
the Pro Bowl is a thing. It's obvious. The NBA
All Star Game they don't care anymore. The MLB All

(10:08):
Star Game they don't care anymore the NHL All Star Game.
They don't care anymore, So I mean anti All Star Game.
But if I could, if I could diverge from like
a four and a half second tangent, Matt, I apologize
for this. I just wanted to say, after reviewing so
far half of this season and this roster and watching
the game last night, Artz Tanner has to be the

(10:30):
leading candidate for Executive the Year correct, because I at
this point what he is doing would be considered witchcraft
in other places, like the amount of energy and effort
he is getting out of a team that is basically

(10:51):
put together by a lot of guys that you may
have heard of or never have heard of, and they're
beating everybody, and they're competing against everybody, you know, I mean,
has I've already mentioned uh several times on this pod.
They dropped four points from very winnable games so far
this year. There's a good argument that they could be
at least six to eight points clear in the supporter

(11:13):
shield race right now, because that's how efficient the Union
have been all season. And it's with he's over here,
everyone's like, oh, we need more players or we need
more roster space, Like no one thought that the ben
Bender move would amount to anything, and he's already had
an instantaneous impact on this roster. You know, I look

(11:35):
at a guy like Indiana and I look at and
I hate to compare this, but I look at a
guy like Daniel Gazdag who's still waiting to get on
the score sheet for Columbus after all, and he will,
but did not one.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
He did get one?

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Did you get one? Well, he got one?

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah, was it like I thought it was on my list.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
In Okay, So he got one. So what I'm saying
is the production that he is getting. And everyone's like,
I'm gonna miss Jack McGlenn, I'm gonna miss Godsdag, gonna
miss all of these players, and the Union are playing
as well as we've possibly ever seen them play soccer.
Like this run that they are on is absolute jugger
not worthy, especially thinking about how many players they don't

(12:15):
have right now, and like I just it's halfway through
the season. We can talk about this later, but it
just it fell to me, were such of the visceral
that came from this offseason that this front office deserves
their flowers because what they're doing right now and what
they've done for the last six years with the preserved
budget that we have is a borderline masterclass.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I could not agree more. I agree with you. Also
anti All Star Game. A couple of people ask me,
you go to Austin for the All Star Game? Going?
Why would I Unless somebody's flying me out there and
paying me, why would I go? I mean, I get it.
It's great for league meetings, owners get to talk gms,
you know, happy for the guys to get an All
Star bonus. The one thing I do like about Kai

(13:01):
not going if because Kai Wagner, with a chip on
his shoulder, is a better player, So keep chipping away
at his shoulder and let's see him have a hell
of the second half. Good news, Djjy's back. I don't
think he played, wasn't available for Chicago, but he's back
with us, so that's hopefully against Columbus we'll be seeing

(13:22):
him and I think Dre will be back too, So
I think we're slowly getting there. Everything falling into place,
so fingers crossed. It's going to be an interesting second
half of the season. We have some Club World Cup Adam,
You and I were there in attendance, sat in the
same row, hung out and watched the mighty mighty Chelsea

(13:43):
take care of business. My impressions were good guy. The
Tenise fans were awesome. I've never been a but very
knowledgeable about the Moroccan Professional League, but I would watch
that any day of the week just for their fans.
I was there for it. But let me tell you,
for the World Cup coming up, we got some issues.

(14:04):
Our security guards have got to learn how to, you know,
maybe have people lift up their hats to make sure
there's not a flare underneath their hat. Maybe pat a
toddler down, because some of these fans are not above
putting a smoke bomb in their own their baby. They
will do that to get the child in. Because I
did witness some contraband being removed from a toddler as

(14:24):
we were going in, So I think the security staff
might need to call us. We can do a little consulting,
let them know how you can use scarves to smuggle
things in, just to keep us all safe in there.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Adam, you got thoughts exact opposite. You give everybody a flair.
What are we doing? Give everybody a flair? Teach them
how to use them properly, to give everybody a flair.
I adore the fact that we literally set the sprinkler
system off at the leak a financial field because Flamingo
brought that many flares into the apps. Freak coolutely, God

(14:57):
dag it. This is when everyone talks about the filling
be a sports fan and how rough and double we are.
I'm like, you've never seen Red Star Belgrade do a thing,
do a single thing ever in your life, Like you've
never seed, literally just PSG fans after they've won a thing,
do anything like. I can't imagine that the American mind

(15:17):
can't comprehend this stuff, and I want them to see it.
I want them to unlock the potential of the American
sports fan by seeing them bring flares into Charlotte, North
Carolina and possibly burning down a section that is so
important to the culture. So I know I am not
don't take the flares out and currently bring distribute flares.
Distribute the safest version of a flare that's ever been flared,

(15:41):
Give them out, give smoke bombs the flares to everybody.
Make this thing look like the Champions League Final. Give
me all of that.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I need to bring someone in on the Sebastian what
are your thoughts flares smoke bombs at the stands? Are
are you pro or do you think we need to
put some safety caps on things?

Speaker 4 (15:59):
I mean, and I grew up with Claire, you know
in France, so usually likes they're not allowed, but they
always a sneak into the stands, especially like you know
supert or group, but it's usually safe. I'm not the
guy who is holding it. I'm sure it's pretty warm
in his hands, but yeah, it's it's how the fans are,
you know, in Europe, in you know, Morocco, all of

(16:21):
you know those crazy fans who you know, chant and
dance for you know, a ninety plus minute to NonStop.
It's what they love to do. So you know, it
brings a different type of atmosphere that any Americans saw
during any American football or basketball or whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
But it just makes it.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
You know, let's say I tipic to what is for
a soccer game in Europe and even basketball. I mean
if you can see they do it even like sometimes indoors,
so it doesn't matter. But yeah, outthough usually it's a
it's I grew up with that. I was young in
a fan group in France and they always had it
and especially when the score, you know, it's kind of

(16:59):
like the Avid Avid ready for it and when you
score it swear.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
You you know, pop it up.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
But it's yeah, developmentality, but we'll see, let's make it safe.
So nothing crazy happened there in the stands. But it's
it's some things that's yeah. It's a it's of fen
thing to see you, especially when you're in the stadium.
Manu speed us the atmosphere.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
I've got two thoughts now. One, I'm predicting that now
Sebastian Latwo and Adam Booth will be leading people into
Lincoln Financial Field next year shirts off flares up. That's
my prediction. So we'll we'll get into that and a
little history. The last time a flare was shut off
in Philadelphia, Adam seven hundred level of the VET against
the San Francisco forty nine ers and the result we

(17:42):
got in jail and a judge, Seamus McCaffrey in the VET.
So I'm not sure how Philadelphia's react with flaires.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Look, this is supposed to be the land of freedom, right,
all right, We're the home of the brave.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
Right what the rockets glare yeah, okay, you're right.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Look out look the birthplace of America, the birthplace of America.
We won a revolution? Or what we do? We do it?
Look forget a security. If you have France playing in
Lincoln Financial Field, I'll be with seven in the front row,
sharing them into the stadium. Don't start me with a
good time sounds good?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Speaking of good times. Nashville two weekends away, two weekends away,
July fourth. If you were going down, we still have
tailgate packages, including a tailgate shuttle bus to the game.
You can get seats through us or having your own
seats and then come back and you will be partying
with sebastianal Lato. So I'm very excited. As we get
closer and closer, I'm feeling like a kid at Christmas.

(18:38):
So if you are going to Nashville Philly Sports churchs
dot com, you can get the tailgate package. You'll see
me and all my glory. But then again we'll be
led by Sebastian Latwo so, and I don't know. We
might get to the fireworks store, we might get some flares.
You don't know what's gonna happen. Last thing on cleaning
up on Union News I'll be a second. We still
got Frankfurt. I haven't really delve into what that's going

(19:01):
to be like, but I'm hoping to be home in
time so we can check that out. Here's the best
part about rumors as we talk about Germans, Adam, have
you heard that your executive the year said no to
Thomas Mueller? Just said no, we don't want you, we
don't need you. And the fan base reacted accordingly, cried wined.

(19:24):
Had no logic whatsoever why you don't want a thirty
five year old guy for ten million dollars a year.
Would you like to talk way into this adeem a
little bit?

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Okay, let's just let me put it as a really
nice analogy. Imagine, if you will, you are a person
who might have struggled in your dating scene previously. Like you,
you think yourself, you're a nice guy, you got a
good attitude. You know, there's a lot of good quality,
positive qualities about you. But you just you've kind of struggled.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
And then someone comes along and says, you know what, I.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
See something in you. I see something in you. I
think you and I can have a mutually beneficial relationship.
And you look at them and you say, you're the
first person to really ever say that to me. But
do you automatically start to date them?

Speaker 2 (20:11):
That's my all the rebound you do.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
I gotta be honest with you. I understand why the
union fan was intrigued by the idea that Thomas Mueller
decided to talk to us. Say hey, Union, would you
like my services? I am more than willing to come
to Chester, Pennsylvania and kick some balls for you. And
I say to myself, that's fantastic, Thomas, happy to have

(20:34):
your board. How much are you asking for? Eight to
ten million? You say annually, So roughly sixty seven to
seventy eight percent of the active union budget is what
you're asking us to add on to the budget to
have you here. How old are you again? You'll be
thirty six in a month. What's the union status right now?

(20:57):
They're in first place four points clear. They don't even
have fully their full roster available to them. I'm good,
but thank you for the offer. I mean, I wish
you luck on finding the next person involved. I think
I need to wait for someone who fits me a
little bit better in what I need right now.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
And I want to get Seba's opinion. But I want
to preface this Ella. He's been fucking to Cincinnati and
Los Angeles. Cincinnati made an offer they unknown amount in
April and it was dismissed. Los Angeles they're saying was
a seven million dollar offer and it was rejected. So
that's where we're getting this eight to ten million number.
So my question for Seba, a player of his age,

(21:38):
could he at thirty five, could he succeed in this
high pass you know, this high paced, high pressing system,
you know, would would he be beneficial? Could he fit
into this team? And would it be worth that exorbitant
amount of money? I guess that's my question for you, Seba.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
I mean he could you know, and I feel like,
you know, when his car out, he's a small player,
you know, like it's kind of almost the same that
you hear from you know, Bradac Karnet talking about Bed. Yeah,
that is a team player. You know, if you have
a star who come and know that. Okay, I'm not
at my prime, but I'm want to come and help and
you know, be here for the guys do what I

(22:15):
kind of don't need to be the star and the
scoring goals and need to do come shore and think
about myself and not you know, putting my team first. Okay, signing,
but not for this amount of money. For me personally,
I think it's not it's just too much. But I
would like to have a guy like him for sure
and the team. He can bring so much. But for

(22:36):
that amount of money, knowing that we are first and
we did it without him, it's not good. You know.
Imagine you sign a player like that in the group
how it is right now. It's not somebody who can
I think with the same mentality, you know what I mean,
and you can.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
You can.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
You could disturb the entire chemistry right now you have
in the team. So it's it's something that you really
need to think about, especially for that amount of money.
It's it's a huge decision. I will not take anybody
for CROs and you know, it's say like one medium
maybe is the most I would spend. Maybe two if
it's a young player we can show and help and
it's hungry and you know, but other than that, no,

(23:12):
I keep this roster how it is right now.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
Maybe we need to have one more odd or.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
Two if we see up injuries. But I think we
are good, you know, with what we saw, and everybody's
stepping in, don't don't Tomas for this season?

Speaker 3 (23:25):
For sure?

Speaker 2 (23:26):
All right, we're on the same page.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
I mean, look, it's like if anyone watched that one
season of Ted Lasso or they got zav and it's
just like he's great, he's fantastic. Did they need him?
And they really and in the end they realized we
really didn't. And I get I love the idea of
Thomas Muller. I think he's one of the greatest players
who's ever played in the Bundesliga. He needs all the
accolades and flowers that are deserved. But I'm looking at

(23:52):
bentech A, I'm looking at one of my personal favorites,
Olivier Jeru. I'm looking at a lot of these signings,
the Bernadette, the insignees and all these guys have been signed,
and I'm asking myself, where's DC right now? You know,
where are a lot of these clubs right now with
these signings, and what have those signings even done? Like

(24:15):
I'd rather get in a vander you know, I'd rather
get a Diego Rossi then I'd get a Thomas Mueller
at this stage, because what is that going again, what
Sepa says is correct. You're going to do that for
two million dollars, sign me up. But if I'm paying
you eight million dollars, which is more than almost half
my budget actively, then that means you probably want the

(24:36):
ball a lot. And I already have the Golden Boot
winner in my roster right now, so I don't know
if we can fit that in. If this is like
a number ten, if this is a midfield or something else,
but as a striker, no, no, we don't need it.
It's unnecessary.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Smart move for saying thank you, no thank you. I mean,
I know people are gonna Upseex. They want the shiny
new toy, but this is the thirty five year old toy.
And the main us that was the first one I
came up with when I thought about this was Jiro.
I think he's got one goal this whole season.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
So I love Olivia. I have his jersey in my closet,
like I'm one of his biggest fans, but he has
done very little today. Gareth Bale had a much larger
impact on LAFC than Olivier Eru did. It's it's incredible
when I see this, so I'm like, look, play like
I don't want to win the off season. So many

(25:28):
Union fans are concerned with winning the off season, and
I'm like, that's not what this club is about. This
club is about getting you to the threshold of winning
trophies as much as possible. And there's been very few
teams in MLS that have been as consistently good over
the last six to eight years than the Philadelphia Speaking.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Of Philadelphia Union players and alumni, we're going to talk
Adam's favorite subject, the US men's national team. In the
Gold Cup, they advanced. They played against Danley's Haiti, Brendan,
Quinn and Freeze all got starts representing the Union. Be
had an assist, Matt gave up his first goal, and
it was really pretty much on Matt for giving up

(26:09):
that goal. Quinn, you know, he got close two or
three times, and that was pretty much it. Paston got
some garbage time. Glenn came in for Quinn at some point,
but the US got the win two to one, and
we've got Costa Rica on Sunday six pm in Minneapolis. Adam,
give me your overview before Seba comes in and tells

(26:29):
you you're wrong, and the USA are going to be okay.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
I mean they're probably gonna win the Gold Cup. They
might they might lose to Mexico I think in the final,
but or sorry, in the quarterfinal, which is a weird
thing because now that's how the bracket worked. But I
think if they beat Mexico on the quarterfinal to win
the Gold Cup, I still don't think this means anything,
Like I just don't. I'm sorry. They don't look good.
That gave against A eighty. They didn't look good. You know,

(26:57):
they're winning these games and they should be. Like KONCACAFF
is probably the most lopsided federation in soccer in FIFA
because it is so top heavy, with like three and
a half teams. Then I'm just like, yes, the United States,
you should be able to beat ninety two percent of

(27:18):
the teams that play in Conca CAV just straight up
in any given day, even if you're playing your B squad.
So cool, I am. Another Gold Cup would be fun.
I don't see Policitics out there. I don't see Weston
out there. I don't see a lot of the guys
that I need to see before we get ready for
next year. If you want to tell me, the Club

(27:38):
World Cup is a dress rehearsal for the World Cup.
The Gold Cup is the dress rehearsal for the World
Cup as a national team, and I need to see
these guys out there. But that being said, shout out
to Matt Freeze because I really hope he pushes Matt
Turner and I really hope that we have a healthy
goalie competition going into twenty six because I don't think

(28:01):
Matt Turner is it and it would tickle me pink
to have a boy from Wayne between the pipes for
the United States and a World Cup on home soil.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
I hope Matt Freeze pushes Matt Turner right back to
England and we forget about him. So Matt on Matt Crime,
I'm all for it. The one little side note before
I asked Sebastian his opinion of the men's team and
his prediction against Costa Rica. The one thing I noticed
on set plays I just was watching it because it's
Brendan Aronson and Danly Jane Jocks. Brennan was looking annoyed

(28:33):
man Danly was putting his hands on him and he
was getting upset about that. That was I just found
that amusing for some reason, as a Union fan just
to just to watch former union on Union crime like
it was. It was interesting. But Sebastian USA, can they
beat Costa Rica? Can they advance? And like we said,
when this when this Gold Cup.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
I mean it's gonna be tough. I don't think that
above everybody. But I didn't watch at just the score,
you know, to one as they little mistake of Matt Frees,
who was a big one for goal keepers, so hopefully
his confidence is going in too low after that. But yeah,
I mean, what did we just lost against Panama like

(29:13):
a couple of weeks ago in National League or something.
It was like, so Panama is today and you know,
you talk about Mexico, but Panama is on the other side.
It could be another one who knock out the US.
There's no giving them. But I think all the players
who play in the national team right now, they know
that they know that they need to play at their best.
They cannot be relaxed and believe like everything is going
to happen and it's going to be easy. So it's

(29:36):
the only thing I will give them is that they're
all hungry to show what they can do so they
can win. Because they can become more a team with
all those players who never really play for the national
team and show what they can do. So it could
be that, or it can go a different way that
as soon as something bad happened or it doesn't go
their way and they go back and play together.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
And react, it's going to be.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
I seem to see against Chris Daika it goes nice,
no cold game, but yeah, I just want to see
if they're just bring a bit more fire into and
know the old fans number for a while, then make
it exciting. You know, it's the worries it about. But
I'll be watching the Union on Sunday. I'm not gonna
be watching the US because it's almost the same time.
So will you catch maybe the last seventy minds of
the US game.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting. I'm gonna see what I
can do split screens to TV, laptop or something for
the Union game. I'm in San Antonio, so I'm gonna
see if I can watch it. But you're right, it's
gonna be interesting. The only other international news the champions
Ship League. The schedule comes out June twenty six, So

(30:43):
if you're one of those fans of Wrexham. If you
you know, watching them on Hulu or FX, their schedule
comes out and you can follow it along and see
what's going on. Guys, let's get into it. We're road
tripping it again. We are Sunday ser said June twenty
nine at Columbus. Columbus is sitting fourth place. Who the
hell is gonna be on our roster? I mean Glassness

(31:04):
picked up another yellow card, so he's out on yellow
card accumulation. Blake is possible, maybe DJ and Tie is
I think still doubtful. So Saba, you've got any insight
into who the roster might be for this game against Columbus? No,
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
I know the camera light last night and after the
game in Chicago, but it's all about who's going to
recover the quick because my biggest question mark it's right back.
I know a bit oh yeah played, but I know
that West City is injured. It might not be back
for that game. We know Baizo maybe maybe not, but
Twigs as the muscle and are you always been the
national team, So it's a right back. And the other

(31:44):
thing is who plays center back? Because Gladness had a
communition of yellow car so he's not going to be
playing Conumbus, so defense. Yeah, so it's gonna be a
big question mark for that game. So it's yeah, let's
see what type of recipe Brady kind is going to
pume up for that game, what type of formation, and
we might see maybe some name we don't see, idiot,

(32:06):
you know, it could be a Neil Pierre, you know,
starting as a center back. We will see, you know,
I don't know yet, but I'm sure they already, you know,
work on the case, knowing that the yellow card of
glassness was the big thing to right back the big
thing as well, and now things they can manage into
the midfield and the offense. Hopefully Deny is good to go,
so we can have him back into the midfield and

(32:29):
we'll see, like, who step up as a center back
next to my canyon.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Adam, your thoughts on it's really our roster. I'm not
even talking about Columbus talking about how our roster is.
To see what we do about them. With your thoughts.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
If you get to tie out of here, I think
you feel very good about it, you know. I think
it's I mean, and again not because of the actual matchup.
I just think you're you got a match in it
right now. I hate the fact that we play in
these windows. I know, the MLS seasons long and you
have to get these matches in and there's already enough breaks, YadA, YadA, YadA.

(33:04):
But I hate that teams have to play through these
international windows. And some teams are much more devastated by
the international window than others. That's just how that goes.
But that's okay. You know, you got to play the
games that are put in front of you, but you
get to tie out of here. I think you feel
really good about yourselves. Columbus isn't firing at the same

(33:29):
level that they have been in the past, but that
doesn't mean they can't get back there. And especially at home,
they're very dangerous. That's a that's a fortress that they've
created over there. So you you just really want to
make sure you survive injuries, no more yellow card accumulations,
and you know, move on to the next matchup, which
would also be very difficult. But you know, at this point,

(33:53):
you got to survive the next couple of matches with
the roster that you have, and then once these guys
start and you know, if you throttle August. You should
be in a really good bit. You should be in
a really good place. It's right now. This is a
tread water period which winning last night goes miles into

(34:15):
helping that out because now you have two more points
in the bag. Then you might not have had another night.
So that's that's good.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
I'm going full homeer because I'm just feeling this team
is like, Oh, you want to take our goalie away,
no problem. You want to take our center backs away,
no problem? You want to do you want to try
to keep our golden boot winner in a foreign country,
in a bomb shelter, doesn't matter. We're gonna do something
about it. So I mean, like you said, honestly, if

(34:44):
you ever go into Columbus and you get a tie,
you feel it's a victory. So for something like this
with this roster, yeah, I'd be thrilled with it. But
I still feel deep down inside we squeak one out
in the ninety six minute or something, it's gonna be
it's gonna be interesting. And then we've got Nashville and
if tuning up TV because you might see me and
some vational too light and flares in Nashville, you know,

(35:05):
so you never know what's gonna happen, but yeah, it's
going to be interesting. So I mean, any other thoughts
on Columbus or Nashville.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
No, I mean, I think I agree with that Adam.
A tie is for sure a great point to get
away because she was quick turn around and being able
to get the straight points in Chicago, which was you
know big in this three road game with not having
another full squad, you know, it's perfect, we have six
points ahead of Columbus. So can we keep the six
point and just get a tie and frustrate them and

(35:35):
maybe you know, get a little bit lucky and get
this win. We could, but I think it's more physically.
My question mark for the team is because it's quick
turn around, it was a big break. It's not easy.
So let's see how we can you know, manage that
game and have a good, you know, tactical thing plan
for Columbus because they are going to have the board
probably like seventy percent of the time in that game,

(35:57):
it's my guess. So it's going to be interesting to
see there's a run. Howmay guys can know COVID ground
and help you know each other and then it's gonna
be another day, I sing big team performance to be
able to just get a point. So it's gonna be
great until you know, we get everybody back.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
It definitely must watch TV if you're a soccer fan.
Between the US Men and then the Union playing, So
make sure you tune in. We're gonna put a little
housekeeping and wrap this up seven the soccer can it's
coming up when you're really quick, July twenty first, twenty fourth,
while we crush you.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
Ready, yeah, ready, and you know, make sure you sign up.
I give you a little code with you know, promo code.
It's about nine and you get a nice twenty five
dollars discount, so go ahead.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
And they still some.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Room, Adam, did you get that Seber nine? Do you take?

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Like you take four months old?

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Now?

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Sorry, you can still keep them you t jenifest?

Speaker 3 (36:54):
All right, Well that's fine. He'll come in a couple
of years though.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
For sure, there we go, Adam. We only have forards
action since we were going through a heat wave this
past couple of.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Days, the hottest of birds. Yes, we have Cultural Heritage
Night this Saturday versus the Montreal Royal. I like to
use their government name, the Montreal deve Royal. But yeah,
so we are right now in third place in our
division and for some reason, still in the playoff hunt.

(37:25):
I'm not one hundred percent sure, but we're forward for
but we're still in a big playoff hunt. So come
hang out with us this weekend as we try to
knock off French Canada and put ourselves in a good
position to make the playoffs and possibly even host a
playoff game, which for hot Burn Nation is an unheard
of principles. So good time. It's good time as an aston.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Billy Philly all the way. Well, everybody, thanks for tuning in.
This was episode number forty one. Yes we are middle
aged now and we're looking forward to this weekend. So
catch the Union soccer, catch the US men's team, and
