Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ex president of the Sons of Ben, Matt Fantastic X
head Capo, Adam Booth, ex player and forever a Union
legend Sebastian Latou. These may be exes, but they're the
experts when it comes to the Philadelphia Union. This is
exes in the U.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Welcome back everybody to an exciting week of union soccer.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
This is X's and the U and I'm Matt and
as a former president of the Sons of Ben, I'm
joined by one mister Adam Booth, X head Capo and
of course former player and current and forever legend Semashial.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Two guys, we got a lot to catch up on.
We skipped a week, so we got a lot to
talk about union soccer. How's everyone doing so far?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Pretty good? Thank you?

Speaker 5 (00:47):
Good Adam hanging in there, my friend hanging in there.
Ready to get to it.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yeah, all right, well let's let's talk about the good
the bad. Now it was really the ugly and the bad,
and that would be Toronto on tie you know, ninety
first minute equalizer kind of thing, you know, just not
not really great, not not really great. And then we
have the Open Cup versus the Red Bull. Good result,

(01:14):
entertaining game.

Speaker 6 (01:15):
And then we had the Union at the Red Bull
again not so not so good. So who wants to.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Kind of go through the past week or so and
just give an overall view of your thoughts and feelings
in the Union?

Speaker 6 (01:27):
Adam, I think you're up.

Speaker 7 (01:29):
I mean, look, if you look at if we started
the Toronto games, particularly, that was a disappointment across the board,
mainly because you knew what you could have by beating them.
You know, that could have definitely put some some separation
in between you and some of the guys you were

(01:49):
chasing you right now on both sides of the coin
Western Conference and Eastern Conference, and it could have put
put together, put away a team that frankly, ironically enough
is playing better as a leet.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
Toronto, you know, for what that is worth.

Speaker 7 (02:06):
But definitely a team that was beatable, especially in a
situation when you were at home, to give up a
goal that late, especially at several times you thought you
had the two goal lead. Apparently you did it, and
then you had other opportunities but you just could not,
you know, slot those home.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
There have been as many games as.

Speaker 7 (02:24):
The Union have had where you see them snatching a
victory out of nowhere, including the Open Cup game that
we'll talk about, you know, where it's just you're down,
you're up, you're down, but you still get the victory.
That was a game where it should have been to
nothing and you should have sealed that away. You left
the door open long enough, and Toronto looked their professionals

(02:45):
on the other side of the ball, and eventually, given
enough opportunities, they were able to crack the nut and
get by the Union for a lad equalizer.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
I've always hated early goals.

Speaker 7 (02:56):
You know, I don't know how Seba feels about them,
but when Indiana scored in the first four minutes, I
always feel weird about those goals. I don't know if
if it leads to a weird sense of security or
it's just it makes a weird dynamic where I feel
like you're more susceptible to get scored on later than
if you score, you know, twentieth minute and on.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
Personally, that's just a weird feet.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Let's get subble on that now, because I feel the
same way as Adam when when we score early, I'm
more worried, and I know that's probably illogical, but I
just something happens when the Unions score early, I don't
feel good.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Adam Nuts, I don't mind it. I think you two
are jinxing it, so I stop thinking like that. But no,
I don't mind it. I think it was good, like
a good stuff.

Speaker 8 (03:46):
I think the ways the pleasant feels I said ten
fifteen was exactly the way they should have played Toronto.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
But then I feel like it's kind of a thing
of the season.

Speaker 8 (03:53):
And we play a team we don't play for nothing,
and we know we are better than them.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
We kind of drop a little bit and like you
say it, it's going a second.

Speaker 7 (04:01):
What is huge.

Speaker 8 (04:01):
It's some things that we didn't do. And then yeah,
we got to bat in the in the bed at
the end and it came back. And of course you
know you're like, ah, you know me support need to
get to two more points.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
But no, I really don't mind's going early. I think
it's good.

Speaker 8 (04:14):
I think we should, you know, keep attack Engels game
like the first fifteen minutes.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
It's a it's too sure, especially when you're at home.
You know, I think it's good.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I know logically it should scoring early feeds right into
another team and should work with our pressing the counterpress.
It should do something. But this season, every time I
feel like we scored early hasn't been great. But anyhow, well,
I'll stop drinking it just because you told me to
and I always listen to you, Adam. What were your
thoughts on uh? You know what do we guys? We

(04:45):
want to get an Open Cup? I mean, that's that's
the better story. I mean, I don't want to beat
on Toronto from two weeks ago. Who wants to discuss
Open Cup?

Speaker 6 (04:53):
The sea? You want to, Adam? I think you're on
Open Cup duty right now? Oh yeah, I mean my
the game that could never be happening for some reason.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
My favorite tournament in the history of mankind, let me
tell you.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
And I don't know what the soccer gods have against
Philadelphia playing this game, but they were trying their damn
just to make sure that they didn't play it again.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
And I was there.

Speaker 7 (05:15):
I left it halftime because I have a child and
I just felt at that point, you know, coming home
at one in the morning wasn't acceptable, even from my standards.
So but look, you know, credit to the staff at
Subaru and everyone who hung around for that long and
definitely wanted to see some soccer and you know, I
know they're the not the our friends, per se. But

(05:38):
credit to the Red Bull fans who stuck around through
all of that and stuck around through a one month
delay to begin with. About the game itself, you know,
it was one of those kind of games where it's
a classic game with the Red Bull you know, where
the Union, Oh, they're gonna give them a chance, and
then they come back, and they're gonna give them a chance,
and they come back, and then finally in the last minute,

(06:00):
you know, Marco Fabian scores a pass and we move
on to the next round of the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
You know.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
It was that kind of a match.

Speaker 7 (06:07):
And uh, to get you know, to get the players
on the score sheet that we did, I thought was
very important, especially.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
In that kind of a competition.

Speaker 7 (06:17):
You know, I thought to have a center back scoring
your goal to seal it is very vindictive of the Union,
you know, and the total soccer approach. I feel like
this team has a lot of times, you know, where
at any given moment, it can be anyone who's on
the end of the score sheet.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
It was a classic.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
It was a classic battle, you know, it was it
was just a slug fest it was good soccer, you know,
in less than favorable conditions, and it was a classic
battle between Red Bull and Phil in the Union, and
you know, to come out on that side of it.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
And look, we're going to talk about.

Speaker 7 (06:54):
The loss that we suffered in a couple of minutes,
but you know, of the two games to play, born
to win, I was hoping it was going to be
that one. So great way to move on to the
semi finals, get yourself some momentum moving on in the tournament,
and you know, the dream of the Open Cup is
still alive and that's really exciting.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Exactly, Subo, your thoughts on beating your former team.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Thanks now.

Speaker 8 (07:21):
I mean, despite, like Adam, I was a true fan,
so I was staying till the end of the game.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
No, sorry, Adam, he was too easy. It was toosy
after no, but he was there. He was definitely you know.

Speaker 8 (07:35):
Two hours not easy for the guys to stay.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
In the game.

Speaker 8 (07:37):
But he just shows I think that game that even
if we are down the goal, there's a great mentality
in the team to come back. So never you know,
be too upset when the Union is downe we can
always come back. And he happened twice in that game,
plus the winning goal by McCanne. I think it was
you know, great for him especially I think on the
first goal he could have Mabe done better, you know.

(07:58):
But then you know offense TV is scoring and give
you know, the win in the next run for the guys.
But yeah, to be shot on the Tonto game, for me,
it was kind of like I said, something we need
to be better scoring the second go or something.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
We didn't do much.

Speaker 8 (08:12):
You know, this isn't at home, so hopefully, you know,
it's something we will talk about, but try to can
bring it again Chicago this weekend.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
Hopefully.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, And like Adam, I left early too, so sub
was the only true fan here. Apparently I had an
early morning and I go when they started that, I go,
there's no way I can stay this whole time and
make Thursday being anything functional. So it's like, nope, I'm
gonna have to go home and watch this on TV.
So that kind of that kind of sucked, But yeah,

(08:42):
great comeback when had some spirit. That's what we want
to see more often. But then we go up to Harrison,
New Jersey and did not have that. We had Glossness
was out because of a card accumulation, Indiana was out
for a concussion, Blake goes down what halfway in the
first half, and Rick comes in. So the biggest thing

(09:04):
I thought was Bruno taking the penalty kick. I mean,
right there, we should have been up one nothing. I mean,
somebody you want to go first on what your thoughts
on the penalty kick? I mean, shouldn't that beat high always?

Speaker 8 (09:16):
I mean, you know, the many score when we won
in Chicago this year, so you know he felt confident
to take it.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
It's I think it's all about confidence.

Speaker 8 (09:25):
No kind of the fire was on him, even if
maybe I thought the referee almost we saw a handball,
you know, in the box right before that, But anyway,
we take the pk. But yeah, it would have been
you know, we score, I think we've be in the game.
I don't think New York is coming back. But it's
the you know, those type of games. We all know
that the trek as an end and it was a
long time the Red Bulls didn't beat us. But yeah,

(09:48):
it's you know, it was a lot of turnover in
the team and standing in even and a lots of
guys who you know, we saw that few times this
season who sometimes pay off a little bit. We lost
some as well help, but it was a long week
for the starters. And yeah, I think we were just
for me, like lacking a lot of chances. We don't
recreate a lot, not many shot on target or anything.

(10:12):
So it was kind of, you know, not the most
entertaining game compared to the one I was saying, like
we saw in.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Coloradull Home a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 8 (10:22):
But yeah, I feel like we're probably happy to get
the win, you know, an Open Cup when New York
didn't play maybe their best team in Open Cup, trying
to think about more MLS and try to make the playoffs,
so they put their best eleven. We maybe didn't put
our best eleven. But in a way that Brad Kanna

(10:42):
has been doing things, he has been paying off, you know,
most of the season, and it's maybe the only one
that we didn't get, you know, a positive result.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
But you know, that's okay. We are still in a
hunt for the shield. We are still here.

Speaker 8 (10:55):
There's still a lot of game to get played, and
you know, maybe it's better than the team is not
first anymore, you know, to kind of like chase this
shield that I think maybe we can be in a
better position if we are not, you.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Know, the the leader of the league. So yeah, it's
gonna be interesting, you know.

Speaker 8 (11:11):
I think now with a Saturday game at home, definitely,
I think three points much needed that game before we
go on a big road trip Cincinnati Vancouver.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Who yeah, I think we'll.

Speaker 8 (11:22):
Tell us about the end of the season if we
have very very positive results over there. Who knows can happen.
But you can see Cincinnati is really strong right now.
Winning three to win Parkland this weekend. It's, you know,
a team you want to win the Shield, you might
need to win, you know, in Cincinnati in two weeks.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Yeah, totally agree, and I would will say something when
that lineup, starting lineup came out. I didn't like it
at first, and I know now a lot of people
are blaming that starting.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
Lineup, but it worked.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
They were still zero zero until probably made the subs.
You know, It's not like and then all of a sudden,
like they the commentators are saying, oh, they're gonna load
up for the second half and push it. The only
thing I hated about the commentators is they had to
talk about the streak every three minutes and I'm like, well,
we just jinxed that one because they're talking about this
unbeaten streak.

Speaker 6 (12:14):
Adam, your thoughts on that Red Bull.

Speaker 7 (12:16):
Game, Well, they had to talk about the unbeaten streak
because it was such a boring game of actual soccer,
you know, like they had to, like, you know, make
drama where drama really wasn't manifesting itself on the field.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
I don't mind Bruno taking the penalty kick there.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
I think you know, you're gonna have to definitely get
him going to as the season goes on and as
we get ground to the end of the season, I
think now with four strikers, since you know, it looks
like the window is going to close up without the
other ones moving on. So if that's gonna be the case,
you're gonna have this rotation and you got to get
all these guys with the ladder going and all of

(12:51):
them got to have to see the ball go into
then as much as possible. And once episode is correct,
you scored against Chicago. I think we need to give
Carlos Cornals credit. He's still I think a really good keeper,
you know, and I think after he got benched and
had to come in in an emergency role on Wednesday
that may have, you know, lit a fire under him
a little bit to be a little bit better. He

(13:12):
made a couple of quality saves. I think that kept
Red Bull in it and allowed them to counter. Eventually,
a street had to end. Eventually, it kind of ended
with a fart, and it's kind of weird on how
you were hoping. Maybe if it's gonna end, let it
be a little bit more dramatic than that. But at
the same time, what Suba said I think is true
in a lot of ways. And look, he understands in

(13:34):
more than most. You know, the Union were staying in
first place, partially because of their own efforts, but a
lot because the teams around them are dropping points and
losing the teams and tying teams that they may not have.
I think it's at this point if the Union want
to win the Shield, they have to be in control
of it. And that means you're gonna have to win

(13:54):
in Cincinnati, You're gonna have to win against Vancouver, and
you're gonna have to put in really trump performances against
New York and whoever's left on your roster because you
are You've proven yourself so far this year. You're one
of the better teams in Major League Soccer. We don't
have to hyperbolize that anymore. You're it Now is time
to really put the feet to the fire.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
Losing Andres is tough, but we've seen Andrew Rick play.

Speaker 7 (14:20):
He's good. You know, the kid's ready. The kid even
stepped up a lot of ways in the New York game.
I don't worry too much about this team. I kind
of worry now that you've officially ruled out your center
back for the rest of the season. You're backup center
back and for the rest of the season, ivan Ian.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
But I think getting into the notes, man, man, you're
getting ahead of us.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
Well, I mean, it's all I mean, it's a segue.

Speaker 7 (14:44):
But I also believe it's like you have a roster
that's still good enough to compete at the highest level.
I think, you know, now you got some time before
the next Open Cup round, you know, formulate your horses,
get the line up you think is going to get
you three points each time, and let those horses run.

(15:06):
You know, I think this is the time to you know,
you can't overthink.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Now.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
Now it's time to play football, you know, and play
the best we can.

Speaker 6 (15:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
I have two comments on the Red Bull. One you
know who doesn't think Cornell is a good goalie? The
Red Bull Yeah, because in transfer they just picked up
John McCarthy Union Zone from LA. So I mean the
writing's on the wall for him. And my hot take
is after looking at the attendance and Redbell are not
getting in the playoffs. You know, I don't think New

(15:35):
York City is a two football town like La is
a two football town. Redbel should move to Las Vegas.
Go spend the money, get a big thing, move to
Vegas and get out of New Jersey. You're not getting
the support. I don't think you ever will just take
your energy drink money. You'll make the money back in
Red Bull and Vodkas on the strip. I would just
move that franchise. I don't think New York City can

(15:55):
support two teams. And you know, fight me if you
want to. But I I think New York City's Blue
not Red Bull.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
I'm not I'm not gonna fight you on that one.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
I'm I'm look. I don't like relocation. I think I
have a lot of friends who are a strong Red
Bull fans. You know, sebah for a hot second used
to play in front of those people. But man, it
is weird on they still cannot fill up that stadium.
They couldn't fill up Bradley Wright Phillips, you know they were.

(16:26):
They couldn't fill it up with with quality talent when
they were fighting for supporter shields.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
Fill that building up.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
I just don't know what the problem is. Fundamentally, it
makes no sense to me. It should be a hotbed.

Speaker 7 (16:39):
Northern New Jersey alone with even if you didn't touch
New York, right like, even if the city of New
York wasn't even factored in, Northern New Jersey should be enough.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
And it's weird that it's not.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Oh I'm telling you, I put that thing for sale
and get the get the Mayflower truck and get out
to Vegas.

Speaker 6 (16:56):
But let's get into some news. Ian as you leaked
it is out for the year. He was a one
year loan.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
I don't think the Union are gonna pull three million
dollars for the purchase now that he's only played four games.
So I think we're saying goodbye to to Ian dre
is out. Nobody's really said, but it's guessing two to
three games with a hamstring gleaz this gets a new deal.
And the last thing in Union player news is Arsenal

(17:27):
picked up Paxson Aarons. Oh no, Colorado picked up Paxton Aronson.
But I'm wondering if Seba thinks eventually he's going to
be going to Seba's beloved Arsenal. Is this a long
term plan from the Cronkey group to get Aronson in
the Premier League.

Speaker 6 (17:42):
But now let's talk about it.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Aaronson Colorado eight million dollars. The reason that's relevant looks
like the Union're.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
Going to see about one million.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Seba, you want to talk about Paxton's a big movie
and I yeah.

Speaker 8 (17:55):
I mean it's interesting choice from him being young and
a little bit last year when he got loaned, but
you know he decided to come back Colorado team and
is going to be a Guessini player. Let's see what
he does. I'm not sure you know about you know,
the choice of coming back. He might be because of

(18:17):
the work cup coming in so you can have get
me more more time and sure what he can do
and if he become I guess one of the best
in this league standing now until you know mid your season,
he could maybe make the world Cup, but it's a
long shot for him, you know, coming halfway through for
a team of Colorado, it's it's tough.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
It's going to try to, I guess, get the position of.

Speaker 8 (18:38):
Miaalovich, who you know got sold like a couple of
weeks ago. But yeah, it had a bit of interesting choice.
But maybe you know it was his best, you know,
bed to be able to get more minutes and uh
and see what he could do to maybe been the
World Cup team.

Speaker 6 (18:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
And I joked early on when I was like, oh,
let's get when Daniel left to go, let's get at
Paxton back. But I was thinking for a loan, There's
no way if Jay and Richard spent eight million dollars
on a player that they sold for four million, I'd
go do a wellness check on them. So I mean,
good for Paxton, good for Eintrock getting that money for him,

(19:17):
Not great for the union because his incentives with Eintrock,
we're gonna be more money for the union.

Speaker 6 (19:24):
But they got about a million. Adam, you're giving me
a look your thoughts on Paxton.

Speaker 7 (19:28):
I just don't know why Colorado did it and that
makes any sense to me. I just I'm not one
hundred percent sure what Colorado benefits from this. He's not
gonna get acclimated enough to really help them. I don't
think you know that mid season MLS lull is famous
for guys coming back, especially guys who were in essentially
pre season to now just ramp up into a playoff push.

(19:51):
Because Colorado right now is seventh, you know, which is
the thought was the final automatic qualifier. So I mean, like,
and they're only two points ahead of the people in tenth. Like,
I get why you're trying to reinforce firepower. I'm just like,
is Paxton Aronson going to be the guy that's really
gonna get you over the line for the rest of
the season or is this like a long play? Is

(20:13):
Colorado supposed to be the prestop for every person coming
back from Europe and wants to play for the US
national team, Like, I don't.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
I'm not one hundred.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
Percent sure what this move makes for both Paxton, because
I mean, look, I'm a person who is like, if
you go over to Europe, try to stay over there.

Speaker 5 (20:30):
As long as you can, you know.

Speaker 7 (20:32):
I just I just feel inherently, especially if you come
from MLS to begin with, it's got you got to
stay over there a little bit longer and cultivate that.
I understand if no one wants him and he has
to come back, that's one thing. But if he had suitors,
I don't know why you're going to Colorado in this moment.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
And I just don't know if.

Speaker 7 (20:49):
Colorado, if this was the move of Colorado's trying to
make the playoffs and trying to make a deep run.
If Paxon Aronson's the dude for as much money and
they gave him a deep peace spot, so you know,
eight million in a DP for a guy who's showing
glimpses and who has a lot of potential. I mean,
his ceiling is is Jupiter, but.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
It just does it.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
It seems like a lot in a short amount of
time for a guy who's still trying to get his
sea legs.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Teams always overpay for potential, and then Colorado, he's the
fifth player on their team that's got US men's national
team ties. For Colorado, maybe they're just trying to collect
US men's national team I'm not sure.

Speaker 6 (21:31):
Listen, I hope Paxson does well.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
I hope we don't have to see them in any
kind of competitions, so I don't have to root against
the kid, but we're gonna see.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
But that was that was a mind blowing move considering
some of.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
The other teams in clubs Southern Sunderland was looking at him.

Speaker 6 (21:47):
So I don't know, but.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
We'll see it again.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
These people are smarter than I am, so I just
I'm not saying it.

Speaker 6 (21:56):
We'll see, but it could be a long place. So
Seba gets the same for Arsenal, you know. That's That's
what I'm thinking.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
Something's like.

Speaker 7 (22:03):
For the love of God, no can I can.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
We wait to get back to Arisional, to the eighteen
of Arsenal.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
And the only thing I keep looking at is social
media to see if is the union going to do something.
I keep hearing there in the works for something. But
the clock is ticking. It is three point fifty currently
on Thursday, and six o'clock is the trade deadline. Adam,
if you have to give it a percentage, do you
think the Union pull something out of the hat for
six pm today?

Speaker 7 (22:31):
So we got two hours now, I think maybe one
more deal and if it is, I think it's going
to be for a center back. My rumors were both
a center back and a midfielder possible, a ten esque
type of midfielder, not necessarily a dynamic ten, but of
creative if you will just to give the top.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Four guys, you know, a little bit more service.

Speaker 7 (22:55):
But I think if anything, you need to definitely show
up your center back situation going forward. So if you
can sign one thing, I would hope it would be
someone with a little hopefully some MLS experience as well,
so they don't have to get acclimated into the fray
per se, move down the stretch.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Forty five percent, maybe maybe a little bit less forty percent.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
I mean again, we got two hours, uh and obviously
I could have some egg on my face for someone
listening to this podcast a couple days from now and
we signed contact.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
But you know, Saba, what do you think? What do
you give a percentage for the next two hours lifetime?
You think Earth is going to pull the trigger on something?
Have you heard any rumors?

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Guys? I have no clue.

Speaker 8 (23:38):
I was no clue about my two trade happening to myself,
So who knows, you know, just like it could happen
in the last minutes, he could not. But maybe you know,
knowing that they put the just announced to put the
Glevinovitch on the you know list you know of injuries.
He opened a spot as well, so he could be
a possibility uses a right fit.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
I'm sure they would of it.

Speaker 7 (24:01):
And the trade for an international spot the other day,
if I'm not mistaked, Yeah, Oliver freed up that spot.
So I mean it's it would sound like a group
of people who were going to make a deal.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
It's just the time is ticking and we're in and
we will see but real quick. I always just love this.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
What I don't love it, but the story of Seba
getting traded, and like he was one of the first
people I've ever seen look completely dumbfounded when he found
out he got traded.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
Like you saw his face.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
He was like, I'm not one hundred percent, Like he
didn't understand what was going on, frankly, and I was
just like we were with him not understanding what was
going on. But like sometimes a guy gets traded and
you're like, yes, the nature of the business and all that.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
Somebody was like, wait, what do you want?

Speaker 6 (24:44):
Where am I going?

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Why where am I going? And I felt that like
I felt that oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:51):
Yeah, no, all right, little League news. As you know, Sun.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Has risen in LA and the Chicago fans gave him
a war welcome, and do you know what he did
to them? He paid them back with a penalty kick goal.
That's why you don't welcome the opposing team star to
your stadium. I don't care who it is, you just
don't give them a war welcome because they're not going
to repay you in kindness. That was That was terrible.

(25:18):
And then Matt Turner comes back and helps New England
not suck anymore. So those two moves were good. But
the only good thing about the last couple of weeks
Saint Louis bailed us out with Nashville since he and Charlotte,
thank you, Wilfred, you helped us out.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
You know, Red Bull beat Salt Lake.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
But yeah, that didn't help because I thought that was
gonna help us, and they did it anyhow. The League's Cup,
I'll tell you what, there's only one interesting thing about
the League's Cup.

Speaker 6 (25:44):
Adam and I had to update the new the new
the notes. The League's Cup.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
It's an MLS affair Miami versus Orlando City, Galaxy versus Seattle.
Everybody that thought it was gonna be a leag next
coming out party, third year in a row, the winner is.

Speaker 6 (26:02):
Going to be an MLS team.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
I mean, Don Garber might be a marketing genius because
he hasn't three years, said you know, the last two years,
and then this third the MLS is.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
On par is not better than LEGA at MX.

Speaker 7 (26:17):
I don't know when they're gonna they have to play
this tournament eventually in Mexico, right they have to, Like, eventually.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
We actually have to play this in Mexico.

Speaker 7 (26:24):
And I would be enthrall to see MLS as a
collective go down to Mexico and try to play this
tournament because I would just be curious.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
But we probably need an administrative change before we do that.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
But oh my god, we would need a well that's
because we would send the whole Marines with every MLS
club down in Mexico. No, but legitimately, I mean I'm shocked.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
I literally looked at the standings for this tournament and
saw that it was all MLS and saw how this
tournament began with MLS being taken behind the woodshed by
with every LEAGA MXC team. So the fact that it
is a four prong MLS affair in the final, including
La Galaxy. Color me the hell shocked, Like, congratulations, y'all,

(27:10):
I mean, shout out to the home country.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
I guess, yes about honey, thoughts on all MLS leagues Cup.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
No, I'm not going to lie to you. Bounty watched it,
so no quest.

Speaker 8 (27:22):
Yeah, I guess, but I got them say it's the
only competition if you play over there and four m
you know, it's a preseason as well, so they're.

Speaker 4 (27:29):
Not really in shape, you know. It's yeah, it's a
it's a weird competition.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Like you, I I would tune into each game, but
as soon as something happened on my phone or I
found out the Phillies were playing, I'm switching to something else.
So I would try to tune in, but it could
have grabbed my attention after you and your were it.

Speaker 6 (27:47):
Yeah, i'd be I'd be more vested. I'm sure I watched.

Speaker 7 (27:50):
I watched MESSI play Tez, you know, I watched that.
That was intriguing to me. Suarez got two goals, you know,
like I was. I poked my head into the Seattle
game because I think their uniforms are the best in
the league right now. But that's about it, you know,
I mean, for me, the casual this tournament does absolutely
nothing for me, and I'm sure the ratings will reflect that.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
But fun fact, you know em unless it's doing on it.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Listen, it's a good thing that they're wrapping it up
because now the world soccer has opened up. The Premier
League's back, championships back, the league is back, Siria's back, everything,
he's back. So you know, it's it's it's competition, it's
real for for your soccer viewership. All right, guys, we're
gonna wrap this up, but let's let's get at it.

(28:32):
Chicago at home. Jack Elliott comes back to Philadelphia. I
don't think we give him a standing ovation because it's
just gonna bite us in the ass. You know I'm saying,
But who wants to tell us what's gonna happen in Chicago?

Speaker 6 (28:44):
Sebah? You want to lead us off with a little analysis?

Speaker 8 (28:47):
Yeah sure, I mean Chicago team, you know, same like
finding for a good playoff spot not here yet, need
to get more points playing as a union. I feel
like it's I think it's a good test for the
you because you feel like kind of like almost a
playoff game right now against a lower team and it
will be what will happen for the Union.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
But I think, you know, she can go very good offense.

Speaker 8 (29:13):
I'm a ci pers you know in from fifteen goals,
like they are pretty strong, I think offensively.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
I think their weaknesses their their defense.

Speaker 8 (29:24):
So could we like I always say, like keep you know,
putting some some pressure on behalf, making them you know,
lose the ball. But we need to be careful of
a counter attack kind of like where we have been
you know, doing the past couple of games.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
But yeah, it's a it's not gonna be a easy.

Speaker 8 (29:41):
Game, but I think it's a good game to kind
of get back into the you know, horses, and I would,
you know, love to see a full performance from everybody
because then, like I say, the following two weeks Cincinnati
and Vancouver will tell a lot about you know, the
end this season. So it's going to be a big game.

(30:04):
H She was going to come here to win it
for sure, but yeah, I feel like we have a
good chance to win, especially after losing in the Red Bulls.
I know the guys are pumped, you know to kind
of like get back and get a three points.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Yeah, Adam, your thoughts on this home game against Chicago
before a hell of a road trip.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
In the last five matchups, the Union are two to
two and one, and you should be five and now.

Speaker 7 (30:33):
And it's really disappointing this this stretch right now because
going back to Houston, followed up at Toronto and then
Red Bull. To take those and not have three points
out of all three of those scenarios, it's kind of deflating. However,
this is a beautiful opportunity to get back and get
back on track and get yourself right for the end
of the season. Chicago is playing well, but it's a game.

(30:57):
It's a win against Saint Louis, a tie against La
a win against Red Bull, a win against Montreal, which
seems to be a winning everyone can do.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
These days, and a tie against Atlanta.

Speaker 7 (31:07):
They're not as they're not as great on papers, maybe
their record says they are. And shout out to Jack
Elliott as captain here for that.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
That's fun for me.

Speaker 7 (31:15):
But you should get the three points here, you know,
and you should definitely use this as a get back
right situation because now you're chasing two teams in both
San Diego and Cincinnati, and.

Speaker 5 (31:27):
It's going to be a dog fights. Here any of
these points.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
That Chicago just got Joel Waterman from Montreal, so they
short up for defense a little bit in the transfer window.

Speaker 6 (31:36):
We'll see that. Does that matter at this game? Who knows.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
But yeah, it's up to the Union to get this
win because as you guys both mentioned, next two games
are away and no joke, and then we only have
a home game against New York City, so better get
the home points because we've got four games on the
road and only this one and the next two at home,
so it's time to get all right, guys, I think

(32:01):
that's everything, and we're going to see everybody tomorrow with
our Saturday at super Root Park. Thanks for tuning in, Saba,
thank you very much for joining us, and Adam you two.
Thank you everyone, thanks for tuning in. This was Exes
in the U episode number forty seven. We're going to
see at super Root Park this weekend and then we'll
see you next week.
