Speaker 2 (00:10):
Definitely a different type of process.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Cut down or freeze m.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
You know, being a coach's son, jackson, of course, Uh,
they keep reaching? Why stop the thing said? Hit by pitch?
Oh hello everyone, welcome inside the Red Earth Production Studios
for this edision of YBM cast Baseball Talk powered by

(00:45):
Game seven Baseball, Game seven baseball dot Com. Fall ball.
Can't believe that, Kevin, fall ball?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
To put your mind around that right now?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Oh mercy, But I'll tell you here's the way I
look at it. Fall balls coming up right to me.
Get a bunch of your buddies that you go to
school with some friends. You want to get some swings
and you want to keep yourself sharp, Get some shirts
made up. Call your team the snot rockets, the snow cones,

(01:25):
the dirt bags, the innings eaters, whatever it is. You know,
make one up, have some fun with it, go out
and enjoy the fall. That doesn't mean you can't compete
or work on your swing or all those types of things.
But if you want to keep yourself just moving through that,
that's what falls for, right Kevin.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Absolutely, try time the hone in the craft and get
some more swings and innings in and pointing time in
before the winter training begins.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Exactly. There you go, so hey, full full slatest schedule.
Got some stuff down of ballparks of America with Game
seven Baseball. They've got all the stuff out at the Whack,
the first ones at Ozzie's Illinois up there in Q
Town if you want to get over, if you're up
around Quincy, Illinois. Q Town's got it going up there

(02:19):
with Game seven Baseball Tennessee. If you're in Tennessee, Uh,
check out what they're doing for the fall schedule all
on Game seven baseball dot com. There you go, welcoming in.
It's been a while. We've been running around all over
He's been all over the country. I've been all over
the state. The Guru, Kevin Moulder. Good to see you, buddy.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, good to be back it. Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
We're winding everything down. And Kevin just got back from
the Future Games over in Lake Point. We just finished
the state chainampionships for American Legion in Sedalia. So we're
gonna give it. We're gonna talk a little bit about
these things. I'm going the state championships, Kevin, we saw
some really good stuff. Moberley Sixers won the whole thing.

(03:16):
This year, they took care of business. They come back.
Jackson Angle leading the way. That kid's a stud. He
can pitch, he can hit, he can play shortstop. He
is a tremendous athlete. And you know the thing of
it is, well, if you just kind of see him,
he doesn't really look like it, but then he just
goes out and plays baseball.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, that's phenomenon. I know that was one of your
favorites for the spring season when we were talking high
school baseball, and they had a great season. They got
that championship this summer, right, So congrats to Mobray and
well deserved.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Absolutely. They brought in some of the usual old suspects.
Kate Boum was good. Mitchell Bruce who's going to Crowder
uh pitch for that squad as well. Cooper Harvey. I
think you're familiar with that name. Yes, yes, yeah, he
was on that Mobley squad West trand he's going to

(04:19):
uh gosh, where's he headed to? So I think he's
going to Moverly Area Community College as well. A group
of them. Logan Easley from Southern Boon was on that
Mobley squad. So it's a pretty good it's a pretty
good team. Pretty good team. They're taken to the Mid
South regionals, so it'll be interesting uh to see.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Saw some other guys Festus, which is always a good
They always bring a good team uh to the state championships.
I thought it was interesting saw Mason Shermer, pitcher of
lefty going to Crowder. Uh bummer was man he was.
He started on in the late game and a big

(05:03):
old thunder boomer, the only one of the week came
through at about eight thirty Thursday night and gilded and
he had started. He was the starting pitcher for that game.
Oh yeah, that was kind of a bummer. That was

(05:24):
kind of a bummer, and we had a pretty good
uh yeah, because who was going I think it was
they were playing. Were they playing Jeff City Drew it
was and gosh, I'm trying to remember who the kid
going for Jeff City was. It was a really good
matchup and both guys that started very well. It's gonna

(05:46):
be one of those ball games we saw. Gavin Williams
was playing for Jeff City. There. Class one Player of
the Year out of Saint Elizabeth brought a lot of
those guys, a lot of kids from the Fatima State
championship team. Schloop Colton Schuler the catcher there from Fatima.

(06:07):
A lot of those guys playing on that Jeff City squad.
It was really good. Schneiders. Riley Schneiders, the pitcher out
of Blair Oaks was there pitching for that squad. So
a lot of good baseball being played. It came down
to Moberley and Kirkwood. Your boys, Kevin, you got to

(06:32):
give a shout out to Kirkwood. Post one fifty six
got into the championship game, played some really good baseball.
I'll tell you I hadn't seen Nick Copeland play a lot.
He was really good.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Kevin, good player, two way guy, really nice defensive endfielder,
and really good on the mountain too high pitchability, has
a really nice breaking ball competes going to Barry College
down in Georgia. Yeah, congrats Post one fifty six. So
the heck of a run there.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Absolutely those guys, they put it together. They had some
Webster Groves kids, I know, showed Ishiyama's there playing and
what what what I thought was tremendous when we saw Ishiyama.
I think he was playing second base there for Kirkwood
High School. He was catching for Post one fifty six man.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Wow, okay, VERSI versatility.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
And doing it.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
That is a good job.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
It was impressive. I was like, that's that's Ishiyama behind
a plate. I'm like, what the heck they we didn't
have anybody. He said he'd do it. Gotta love all stuff.
Gottle of that stuff. And you're right. In the semifinal,
Copeland pitched that game really good on the mound. He

(08:11):
has a mid eighties fastball that was really good. Curveball
was working. He and I liked what you said about him.
He is a competitor. That kid just competes at a
high level. And one of the kids, Teddy Clinton, came
out ten inning game with them and Moberley in the

(08:36):
pool play two to one ball game. Moberley beat him
two to one. Amazing baseball game went ten innings. Kevin
and Teddy Clinton pitched nine of them.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
It's impressive work, I thought.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
So he was just really good. He's one of those
guys you know, spun it around. He was on. Everything
was work and he was able to get guys out.
A lot of ground balls, a lot of things of
that nature, and and he just it just a lot
of fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
So an old school pitching duel in a championship setting, right,
that's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Absolutely, and Moberly had Oh my goodness, that was Cooper
Harvey on the mound west Rand High School. That was
a lot of good stuff to like about this year's
state championships. There was some really high level baseball, although
Moberly took care of business in the end, got away

(09:39):
from I think. I think they Kirkwood extended themselves as
far as they could go, got to that championship a
little lighter there in the pitching, you know, and then
you throw Jackson angle on the mound and that's how
deep Moberly is. They saved Ingle for the championship game.
So when you got that right, Yeah, So I'm looking

(10:05):
forward to Moberly coming into the Mid South Regionals. But
my goodness, there's going to be some tough teams. I
know a lot of people never heard of. Probably some
of these teams not familiar with American Legion baseball. But
you got the Mountain Home locker Room out of Arkansas,

(10:27):
and I guess they're one of the top teams down there.
I don't know if you've heard of them.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
We had in one of the bigger tournaments there when
I was in high school. That was used to be
a huge deal going down there and playing Mountain Home
locker room. That the full town would show up for
that tournament. That was one of the highlights of my
high school summer baseball career was getting to go playing
that tournament. That was a huge, huge deal at the time.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
They still host that tournament. Sedelia was there this year.
I think Moberley went down there. It's still a big deal.
He'll host that tournament so in.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Front of Ale.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Yeah, Sedelia is another team.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Shout out to Connor Spinage who also was running the
tournament there in Sedelia. Have you been to a Liberty
Park Stadium recently? Their day field in Sedalia.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
I haven't been there since the renovations, but I've been
there a good number of times.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
They did a fantastic job renovating that. It looks great, Kevin,
it looks great. Uh. It's full turf infield and outfield.
They redid the fencing. It's they did a great job
doing that. Man, It's a great park to go and
watch a baseball game in. It's kind of like uh,
you know, the older fields. It's like Ron Sick a

(11:48):
little bit, the Big grand Man because uh, and it's covered,
it's it's just a it's a great venue. And what
they did when they redid it, they did it right
well because to State Fair College plays there. Community College.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Now State Fair is going to move their games to
an on campus field next spring, but they had played
there before that.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Okay, that makes sense, and I understand why they do that, right, yes.
And then you got that independent team there or collegiate team.
The Bombers play their Sdeli Bombers Bombers yep. And I
think Sacred Heart High School plays their games there. And

(12:35):
I know because and one of the things that was fun,
Kyle Zimmerman, the head coach at Smith Cotton and coach
Brandon Mooyer from Moberley High School, they both came down
and called every single game with me. Man, it was
so much fun.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yeah, that was a lot of fun. And of course
these guys there's a lot Smith Cotton kids playing on
that American Legion team for Sedalia, and uh, you know,
it was a lot of fun. There was good, good
baseball all the way around. Getting back to a Mountain
home locker room, Arkansas. But I wanted to give a
shout out to the coaches, because man, when you can
put a couple of coaches there talking baseball, given their

(13:19):
insights and they know a lot of these kids, it
just it was a lot of fun. They were great.
So shout out to coach Zimmerman, Coach Boyer. Appreciate you guys.
Uh the Ponta Talk Red Sox. You can't say that
too fast, Kevin. The Ponta Talk Red Sox are out

(13:42):
of Mississippi.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
They beat tupelow which Tupelo has been there the last
few years, and that Tupelo team was pretty loaded. So
Ponta Talk got them this year. That's Mississippi. The Bossier
Phillies Post two O two out of Louisiana. When I
saw the picture, the championship picture is a bunch of

(14:06):
grown men standing there. I think they got a lot
of kids. They had a lot of kids coming back
from college. This team is really good. I think there's
a lot of JC Division one JC kids on this team,
a couple of Division one players. This team's loaded, so
I'm looking forward to seeing them play. Pittsburgh Post sixty

(14:30):
four out of Kansas got the victory there. You've heard
of the Eight of Braves. They've been around a while, right, Yes, Yes,
Post seventy four out of Oklahoma they're going to be there.
You got Columbia, Post nineteen out of Tennessee is going
to be there. So that's what we got Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kansas, Oklahoma,

(14:55):
and Tennessee. Really good baseball states man for the Mid South.
When we are looking forward to it, Washington Post to
eighteen Kent Getzie and his group they are hosting and

(15:16):
so they get a bid to the as a host team,
they will be in it. So we've got eight teams
starting next Wednesday, we're gonna be out there. Joe Buehller's
done a great job. Gosh, I'm forgetting. I'm just gonna say,
mister Hendrickson because I can't come to the off the

(15:39):
top of my head. The catchup for boards, Noah Hendrickson.
It's his dad that has been instrumental in putting a
lot of this together out at the Post to eighteen. Man,
it's an undertaking to host one of these Mid South regionals. Kevin,
It's I would imagine it's similar to what you know
when you put on these big events. It's it's crazy.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Oh yeah, A lot of things go into that to
pulling something like that off. And they have a great
facility out there in Washington to make it make make
that happen. But that's you know, that's months of planning,
even a half here of planning. I'm sure to put
that all together. So looking forward to just seeing how

(16:22):
that all plays out. That's gonna be a great.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Event, absolutely, And this is the first time appreciate can't
Getze in his group for us to be able to
go over and be part of this, and we're looking
forward to live streaming it. So make sure you hey
while you're here, if you want to watch some good baseball,

(16:44):
if you can't get out to Washington, if you can't
get to Ronsick Park, hit the subscribe button, hit the dinger.
It'll get you a notification for all the live events
coming up next week. I'm looking forward to it. It's
gonna be a lot of fun. Ah, Kevin, you were
down in Lake Point, Georgia this past week. I know

(17:09):
I got to see Coach p He looked a little tired,
you know, it was tough because I felt I felt
a little bit of that because we left last Wednesday
to go go over to Sdele. You drove it there,
got set up, did games Thursday, Friday, all day Saturday,

(17:29):
did the championship game Sunday. We drove back home Sunday afternoon.
We were back at car Shield Field on Monday morning
for the PC last two games of the PCDL League
on Monday and Tuesday, and got to see coach Perkins
and he just got back and I think everybody was
a little lagged.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
It's understandable. We hit it pretty hard. You know, it's
three events in one event if you will. You know,
this year we had the Sea Your Future Games, which
has turned into a really big deal. It was tremendous,
tremendous success. We have the what I would call the
original recipe the Future Games, which is the going to

(18:13):
be Junior uh two bees. Then will start receiving phone
calls from colleges on August first, and then we have
the Junior Future Game. So and we were highly successful.
Had a great run. Our Senior Future Game team, which
we combined with the State of Kansas to make a
mo Can team, went three and oh that team had

(18:36):
a bunch of good arms and great showing from a
lot of the Missouri players. Uh Cooper Callahan starting shortstop
for Blue Springs, South state champion shortstop at a phenomenal event.
Grayton Suferling, who was the closer for that in that game,

(18:58):
came out and through one fast all below ninety three.
It was ninety three ninety four. The whole time, local
guy Uh from Saint Louis Patriots havely Cox kind of
put his name on the radar because he had been
flying a little bit under the radar and he was
ninety one ninety three. A. J. Jones from how had

(19:21):
a great event and just committed to Maryville University. You
Berdie Wilson from Kickapoo was down there, just committed to
Missouri State. So there was a lot of a lot
of good things happening in a you know, in a
condensed window there. But that senior Future Games team a

(19:44):
lot of really good players, and just the recruiting cycles
getting pushed back further and further, and there was a
ton of schools there for the seniors, and you know,
it did it didn't disappoint. We had about seven guys
throw ninety one or better. Down there top one up
to ninety five, so wildly successful. And that was a

(20:08):
lot of fun for the Senior Future Games and then
moved into maybe I'll hit on the Junior Future Games
real quick. We had another We were the defending champions.
We didn't bring home the championship belt this year, but
had a great event. Nonetheless, we won our pool. We
played Ohio in California in the opening two games and

(20:33):
won both of those at Florida and bracket play and
beat them. And here's a name for you, Brady Dorman,
that is JD. Dorman's younger brother, was phenomenal it shutting
out two hit Florida in the first game of bracket

(20:53):
play in eighty three eighty six and high pitch ability.
And these are kids are gonna going to be high
school they haven't had one day in high school yet,
so he is going to be an absolute star. A
lot of really good players on that on that Junior
Future Game team that we'll have our eye on over

(21:13):
the coming years. But then lost a hard fought battle
to Team Wisey in a three to one, so nothing
to hang our heads about there. Had had a great
show in with that group and then with the regular
future Games team, if I may call it that another
just good show in Wintererpool beat Illinois, beat Wisconsin, and

(21:36):
lost a tight one with Indiana. And you know that's
the one where you know you're not necessarily playing to
win games. That is a showcase game. Kids are throwing
a couple of innings a piece, but a couple of
the big names or big winners from that event. Ryan
Dobratz out of Liberty was ninety ninety three and causing

(21:59):
a stir that one. He's gonna get how.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Did Doe Brats do in the sense of because I
know he struggled through the high school season, he was
struggled with his control. Was he has as? Is he
working through something?

Speaker 1 (22:13):
I was? I was, I was push back on that
a little bit. Uh. I think he had a pretty
good season. One thing to remember is all these kids
were sophomores playing, So if you got a factor in
the teams they were playing for. And I don't want
to dive too much into, you know, the dynamics of teams,
but then when you surround him with like talented players

(22:35):
and and put him in certain situations, they're often more successful.
And he certainly was. He he threw two great innings
versus Illinois who had some power arms. Uh, and he's
going to be fielding a lot of phone calls here
come August first, and would be one of the respects
in the in the state moving forward.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yeah, I get that, but all I saw was what
I saw when we did because when we saw him,
he couldn't throw his track. That's all I'm going off of.
I mean, it wasn't matter the guys around him and
the kids are walking around the bases, and that's all
I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
I saw him. That was probably one outing, but I
saw him multiple times this spring when he was good
and then it kind of faded out, which happens with
the younger pitcher sometimes. But that is a sure that
is going to be one of the true elite arms
in the state moving forward. That's a power arm. Now
there's gonna be issues with who can catch home and

(23:35):
you know, also one thing to realize on power arms,
a lot of times they do walk more guys and
they strike more guys out because no one can hit them,
so they're throwing more pitches. Guys with less stuff get
put in play when they do get into the zone,
so they don't have opportunities to walk the batter is

(23:55):
often so counts go deeper because kids simply can't hit it,
if that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Dope brats and and you know you have Jake Greer
behind the plate with liberty and you know when you
start seeing guys and I'm glad he showcased well, I
really am. I just hope there. You know, as you
as you look through the future and whatnot and coming
into a situation, I always look at young players in
this respect. Then you come back to you to that place,

(24:28):
you know, do you have that mentality as a leader
to take your team on your back and put yourself
in that space and work with the teammate you have
and be able to be successful and as a young player,
you know, just as you said as sophomore, when you're
talking about that, I want to see how he does

(24:49):
as a junior. Did he take those lessons? How is
he going to learn from that and move forward into
that next part of what he does as a as
a high school player, because I think that has a
lot to go. Uh, you know, with with a player
like this, he is, he's got all the talent, everything
is there, but now can you put all those things together,
work through some of those things and learning from that

(25:11):
as you move forward.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Yeah, and no question, and that's something you're looking for.
And just going off his spring, he had a you know,
he was five and two with a three point five
seven e ra A at Liberty. That's a that's a
that's a stud to me as a sophomore if you're
able to do that versus that level of competition. And
that's also the other thing you factor in is you
know Liberty's playing that that's one in one of the

(25:35):
premiere Obviously obsostition areas in classes. So those are things
that as a sophomore to me are impressive numbers. You know,
there's always stuff to get better at. But and he's
had a great summer, but he was one of the highlights.
Carter Martin for out of Warrenton also had a really

(25:59):
big outing. Uh showed really well. Those are a couple
of big ones on the mount Owen Hughes from over
in Rockhurst. Left handed pitcher ran up to ninety and
had a successful outing. Parker Sandstone out of Timberlin had
a good event as well.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Can I ask you about Sandsong because I haven't seen
him as much Kevin and everything I hear about this
kid is that same thought process. Has a is he
Is he similar to dough Brats in that respect? Has
he got that ceiling?

Speaker 1 (26:35):
They're very different. Uh. Dough Brats is you know, a
mountain of a guy, uh six, and Parker is more
of a athletic build. No, dough Brats is a good athlete,
He's just huge. Uh. Sandstone is more of a six

(26:58):
foot uh six foot six to one, uh right handed.
You know, he's put together fine, but physical attributes don't
wow you there. But he was. He was Timberland's number.
You know, I would call him his one A, one
B type thing. You know. They had Richie Swain, who

(27:22):
at times in his young career, uh struggled throwing strikes,
but kind of click this year as a senior for him,
Parker put up phenomenal numbers for them and was one
of their main starting pitchers as sophomore. And again same
thing as dough Brats, paying high level competition, uh weekend

(27:44):
week out.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Yeah, and we're gonna see it because these are two
guys we're gonna see for the next couple of years
here in the G A C. And I think that
and along with Carter Martin. I mean, these are top
three arms in the state, you know as part of
you know, understand what I mean, and these guys, So
I think it's gonna be interesting. I think Martin had

(28:08):
will have a harder road to hoe at Warrenton because
he lost some of the guys that were around him.
It'll be interesting to see how they retool and are
able to retool around him as opposed to you know,
a Timberland or a Liberty, which much bigger schools.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Yes, Refrac, there's Warrington. They compete the Class five level.
Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (28:30):
They are a Class five ye there, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
So you're competing against different situations there. Yeah, but yeah,
so some good showings there. You know, some other notables
Brandon and Not performed really well in game down there.
Who's been a two year starter at de smet Derek

(28:56):
Chupp was on the ball club. Young guy that didn't
get a ton of opportunity at Hell because of their
pitching death this year. But that's gonna be uh an
eye to keep on, an army to keep an eye
on six' six left, hander kind of an up and coming.
Guy then Some Kansas city Kids Spencer beltraump out of Park,

(29:22):
hill six' five, right hander kind of a, projection guy did.
Really Well, nathan eakins who we Saw at rogersville pitching the. State,
tournament HOWEVER arm i felt bad. For him he was
coming off with some mono but. STILL competed i think
he threw up, two zero's but velocity was a, tick
down but still. Performed Well evan MAGNUSON.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
And i thought his velocity was still pretty good even
if he's coming. Off mono he was still throwing pretty. Good, There, kevin.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Yeah it was he he brought that up. To me,
you know everyone wants the pr, down there and it
was more of. THE holding i think he did flash
it early and then it kind of, faded quickly just
because he told me he had lost. Ten pounds and
he's not a. Big guy so that's different than YOU

(30:16):
and i losing ten pounds when you're when you're starting
at a low. Number, already uh that's a. Big. Deal Uh,
evan magnuson who we saw was was a star At
the class five, state championship pitched in both the semis and,

(30:37):
the championship and he he picked up where he left.
Off there, another, projection, arm, tall lean athletic, and performer
and you know his best days are still ahead. Of
him velocity and whatnot is going to continue. To Come
And evan loftus would be kind of in that. Same

(30:59):
category so really good group. Of Pitchers cole chambers also
he was a. Two Way but cole got out on
the mound and threw. An inning and that's always a
tough ass for the. Two ways did you?

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Go ahead do you project him more as a pitcher
or or? A fielder.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
That's a. Tough one, probably fielder probably, positional player but
he's good on, the mound and you know it's a
tough position because you're, you know you do, a showcase
then you're playing games and then you come in. And
pitch but he threw a, scoreless inning closed out the
Game versus WISCONSIN. For us also hit a home run,

(31:44):
that night so he had a. Great event hit. REALLY
well a couple of the. Offensive Stars carson Ludhauser FROM
eureka uh had had a. Big event.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
He hit a stream was as because he broke his hand, right.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Yes, thumb yeah and he's back. In business caught. All
summer peo for our catching situation was really good this
year because we Also Had andrew maltsby out Out, of
staley which also talks about how the Depth of Staley
because maltsby wasn't the starter because they of Course Had

(32:27):
eastern philippe uh, the senior so a lot of depth
there behind. The plate the the big offensive Star Was
ryland sutton Out. Of ozark caused quite a stir one
day he in our Game. Versus illinois he had went

(32:47):
three for three with two doubles and a home run three.
RUN homer i was player of the GAME for us
there and a Win. Over Illinois landon cleet was another
one that is one that kind of jumped on. Some
radars six four left handed hitter Out of. Camden ten
good athlete plays Infield at. Camden ten we had him

(33:10):
out in the outfield and he worked out as an infielder.
As well but versatile athlete and. Upside Guy zachary eman
Out Of southern boon ran a ran a six to
three there and hit a triple in the in, the game,
and uh it's it's fun when he gets the small

(33:30):
town guys, in there, and uh they performed and he.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Certainly did we We Met rylan sutton Youth baseball midwest
when he, was twelve we had done a we were Down,
In springfield missouri for and we went by the it
Was The, midwest MAVs which they've chaid that's gone through submiterations,
and whatnot but his dad. And whatnot they had. That

(33:55):
Team if i'm, NOT mistaken I Think sebastian normal was
on that, team too and h that was just a
juggernaut of a Team and sutton's been those those kids
have been really good for a really. Long time, and,
yes No because norman's. A senior so it wasn't that
there was. Another kid i'm trying. To remember there was

(34:15):
three or four kids on that TEAM that i got
to go. Back through i'm going to have to go
back through and watch my winter. Workout.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Tour kevin Maybe Maybe tanks sims Or brooks kettering were on, That.
Team bros some good kids out of.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
That, group yeah there was and there, has been, you
know out Of That springfield.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
And it wouldn't shock Me If ryland sutton was playing
up a couple of years when he was, you, know
fourteen thirteen, years old that that wouldn't be. A, Shocker.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Yeah so this has been, a while and that's always
what's what's interesting to ME is i hear these Names
and i've ran into his dad a different few, different
occasions and it's. BEEN nice i really enjoy that part
of it because we've had those contacts through and To
see sutton and the way you put that there is,

(35:08):
you know a. Stand. OUT uh i like. That kid
it's gonna be fun to watch because he's he's coming
into his junior year There at. Ozark, correct, yes yes that'll.
BE fun a couple other.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Notable Performances max partney Out of hillsboro hit a, home
run one of the top left handed hitters in the in,
The state so that was good. To. See uh luke
Mcartee from de smet got To Represent. Teams select, you
know this year a catching situation was so deep and
it was great to be able to get another catcher.

(35:50):
Down there luke got to Go To teams select and
went five, for seven hitting over seven hundred there with
a with a. Double uh so performed. Really well so,
overall overall, great event great, week event over four hundred
college coaches and scouts there and just another good showing

(36:11):
uh For the missouri boys and just building off the
momentum that. We've had then that list of alumni is getting. Pretty, distinguished,
so uh, it's going well.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Real quick what is, your, thoughts uh because we haven't
talk since UH The. Mlb, draft.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Yeah well it. Was going it was kind of an
interesting year. To follow and, you know the first. Two picks,
you know the mL draft is as wild then, you
know they they put out the, you know their rankings.
And whatnot, you know we have our own. National Rankings

(36:52):
baseball america, has it, you know and they'll come out
and draft a guy not anywhere close to the top of.
The ranking, So Now eli WILLITTS was i think the
fourth rated kid by all by all accounts, of Fact
the cardinals were projected to possibly, select him But the
nationals took him one. To one and then with the,
second Pick the angels came out of left field and

(37:15):
took a kid a little bit further down that was
projected to be kind of a mid to wait. First
rounder so a lot of it is like, financially driven, and,
like hey if our cap for the first overall pick is,
you know nine and a half or ten, million dollars
but he's willing to sign. For, eight well then we got,

(37:37):
you know one and a half or two million bucks
to give down, the line and that kind of came
into play with one Of the, Missouri Boys, camden lohman
was selected in the eighth round By, the mets and
slot value in that, situation is, YOU know i don't,
know exactly but let's call it two hundred and fifteen.
Thousand dollars maybe it's two hundred and thirty eight thousand

(37:58):
dollars somewhere in. That, neighborhood well he signs for just
short of eight, hundred thousand so that there's a game those,
guys play and it's kind of a. Jigsaw puzzle so
they don't necessarily draft based on, you know straight down,
the list and certain guys that might be higher ranked
go in the eighth round and lower guys go above

(38:22):
them because they can sign them. For cheaper so it's
it is always an interesting an interesting thing.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
To follow that's two years in a Row the mets
have selected a player Out. Of, missouri well and.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
They got a couple because they also drafted And Signed
wyatt vincent Out, of nixa which was a little bit
of a time and he did sign and he signed,
for overslot which. Is good, so yeah a Couple of
missouri boys there gets to get in, the call which was.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Really, Exciting Yeah trey schneider over. There, Already Now cam
lohman and Why, at vincent what do you think? Of That?
CAM loman i really. LIKED him I liked i like
watching the guy just AND when i talked To. Cam loman,
you know there's there's guys that just seem to know what.

(39:24):
They're taught they they they have it spinning in their
brain and they understand exactly what they're trying.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
To, Accomplish, kevin, yeah no, YOU know i still Remember
cam owman's coming out party a couple of years Ago
To scout day. With us it was the Mid One Bandit.
SCOUT day i remember him hitting. Eighty, eight uh it
Was On Super, bowl SUNDAY and i, remember thinking, my

(39:52):
god who is this kid and how green he was
and completely off, the radar and he was a future
gamer and had about a nineteen pitch outing over two
innings and just completely dominated at, eighty seven, eighty eight
maybe touched in, eighty nine and it's kind of exploded.

(40:14):
Since then got, YOU know i know he's joined UP with,
P three, i believe and just he hadn't touched any
of that before this point and then he's just exploded
over the last eighteen months or whatever that is to
get to. This point so really cool story and also

(40:35):
kind of goes to show, you that, you know young
guys will walking in like just because you're not a
star in middle school or you know you're underweight, or
whatnot a lot of that changes come. High school, so
yeah it's always important to keep that. In perspective and
that's another story right there of a guy that just

(40:57):
worked extremely hard through those middle years of, high, school,
sophomore junior senior year that maybe wasn't the most highly
regarded guy as a freshman and turned into the top
regarded guy at least IN the mlb you know side.
Of things and Then Also ethan rodgers was out, Of

(41:18):
loan jack. Was, drafted uh still waiting to see what,
happens there whether he's signing, or not but so pretty.
Good representation three drafts out of the high school boys And.
From missouri so PRETTY happy I.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
Got i got to see one Inning Of. Ethan rogers
he when we did went To the missouri high school
Baseball Coach Association All. Star game, he CAME which i
thought was fantastic and pitch an inning there. He is
he's definitely. A dude. You know it's fun to watch

(41:57):
with your own eyes some of these, guys pitch and
he was. Really Good carter martin was, there too but
didn't get To see. Carter pitch he'd shut it down
pitching wise at. That point, but uh he still can swing.
The back that's a big, kid Man Not. Carter Martin.
Jordan martin, Excuse Me. Jordan, martin, yeah, OKAY yeah i

(42:22):
got the.

Speaker 1 (42:23):
And that plays, you know to kind of what we
were talking about early with, you know a Guy Like,
Jordan Martin, tyler wood them and their Agents Like jordan
martin was Represented, by boris who was notorious for wanting
his kids to go. To school and he has a
presentation in the in a math equation there for the

(42:46):
kids and the families to show, like hey earning power
and uh development and. And everything so he had an extremely,
high number As, did wood and so they didn't. Get
drafted that that doesn't mean teams wouldn't have drafted them
had they had a. Different number so it's always an

(43:06):
interesting process and kind of gain that, the agents kids and,
teams play and it is one of the more complex
and tough to figure draft processes of the of the all.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
The sports and that to, Your point i've never paid
much attention TO the mlb draft until the last, few
years talking with you guys, and WHATNOT and i still don't.
GET it i watched This and, i'm like what are they.
Talking about it isn't LIKE The nba draft OR the
nfl draft or anything. Like that it's, just different.

Speaker 1 (43:41):
The tough thing. About it and now it's changing a
little bit because college baseball is really, taking hold and,
you know Like the Cardinals Selected, william doyle who is
a star and, is Known And katie anderson OVER. At
lsu you know his Performance. At omaha so people will know,
those names and those guys will rise quicker BECAUSE the

(44:03):
sec is playing at such a high level that that
they're able to bypass some of the. Minor leagues and
you'll even see occasionally a college pitcher, in particular come
out of the draft and then be a call Up
in september and pitching in a bullpen. Or something, in

(44:25):
fact there was a couple of years ago For the
royals kid OUT of, tcu Pitching The College world series
And The Major League world series in the, same year
which is pretty. Pretty well but basically, in baseball you
draft a kid and then you don't see him for,
you know four to. Six years so it's it's tougher

(44:49):
to follow THAN the nba draft OR the, nfl draft
where you're seeing these GUYS on tv and then the
next year they're drafted and they're playing for that that.
Professional team, in baseball even the college guys usually take,
you know a couple of years of development through the
minor leagues to get up to the.

Speaker 2 (45:10):
BIG leagues i and to, YOUR point i THINK that's
i think where we may see a little bit more
of that with college becoming like it is and with
the lesser amount of the rookie, you know, the leagues the.
MINOR leagues, i think, you know because what is a

(45:32):
Kid From, Kansas city calcavecchia, or something what's, his name
the right fielder that shot up, through there that's there Now, Cagli, on, yeah.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Yeah and now he was a Star at florida and
he he was a, high raiser but he was a
huge deal and was actually drafted as a two way
so that's one of those guys that was a star
and a. Known guy uh but even he took, you
know a year or so to to make it through

(46:04):
and that and. That's exceptional that's like one of the
fastest risers you'll see for positional. Players especially, so.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
Yeah yeah because hitting. Is hard but Kid Like.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
Caim lowman, you know there's a high school guy that's
signed and signed for a good amount. Of money, you know.
Dream scenario we're still looking at four years most likely
to make the, big wages and that's if everything. Runs
perfect you know that they're going to. Protect them there's
a gradual. Build up there's so much the development that

(46:41):
they have, to do. You know so when he's, twenty two,
twenty three that's when they'll start to possibly be able
to crack into the to the. Big lakes, you know
it's in a blue mood a twenty year old or
a twenty one, year old but those are few and.
Far between pitching.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
Every, fifth day trying to get to one hundred and
seventy to two. Hundred innings it's just a, different world.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
Isn't, It yes.

Speaker 2 (47:14):
Kevin always, fun man, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (47:18):
Absolutely. Enjoyed it there, you.

Speaker 2 (47:21):

In washington missouri for and a chance to head To The.
World series And The American Legion Baseball world series is
still you know they they show all those GAMES. ON
espn i ain't got a shot, At. That kevin it's

(48:03):
still TELEVISED. On espn they put it UP ON, Espn
u so that's a. Big deal one of THE things
i think it's cool folks about this is the if
whatever team wins here in This Meet Mid, South Regional
American legion baseball takes, that team puts them on an
airplane and sends Them, To Shelby. North, carolina uh they paid.

(48:25):
The expenses they paid their expenses while they're there in
transportation for all, the teams, the coaches and they get
a chance to play in front of that they Win
The world, Series, there uh they fly all those kids
and what not To the world TO The Mlb. WORLD
series i Think it's, game two Maybe it's. Game three
it can't remember which one. It is to be recognized

(48:49):
there At The. World series it's it's a, cool DEAL
and i think it's it's really neat for that's a.
Great EXPERIENCE and i think if you get a chance to,
do this To play american leisure baseball in THAT, NINETEEN
u i think you. SHOULD try i think you should
put yourself in, that place, you know put. Some, teams it's,
you know just that's the once in a. Lifetime thing,

(49:12):
you know not a lot of kids get to do.
That thing that's just.

Speaker 1 (49:15):
My home, very, cool no. Very cool looking forward to
following that here Down.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
To washington, absolutely everybody thanks for. Tuning in have a
great day In. The lord all, You, pitchers kevin you know.
The deal.
