Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hi, it's Damien and welcome to another episode from New You.
Now we're going to be exploring a tour today. A
particularly powerful tool from neurolinguistic programming an LP, it's called anchoring. Now,
it doesn't matter what emotional states you're seeking or what

(00:29):
you're seeking to do. It can be confidence building, calming, focus,
and dealing with anxiety. There are tons of things that
anchoring is a quick and effective way to access those
emotional states whenever you need them. So what actually is
anchoring well, Anchoring is a method used in NLP to

(00:53):
link to a specific stimulus. So you can have a sound,
a touch, or even a gesture. So as an example,
if you wanted to feel comfortable, you could say touch
your earlobe and you could train your mind that once
you touched your earlobe you felt confident. It can also
be used to bring back certain memories and specific times

(01:16):
in our lives, so it allows us to create connections
directly to these points. And so in essences about creating
a mental and emotional shortcut that lets you access states
like calm, confidence, focus, anything when you need them. And

(01:38):
this can be truly transformative because you can access those
resourceful states at will, you can become more resilient, adaptive,
and empowered to face challenges. Now, anchoring isn't just for
healing your personal transformation, it's also manifestation. When you use

(01:59):
it anxiously and consistently, it becomes a powerful tool for
managing your emotional states. So with manifestation, really, manifestation is
about aligning your energy, thoughts, and emotions with what you
want to create or attract in your life. And by

(02:19):
using anchering, you can purposefully tap into the emotional and
mental states that match the frequency of what you're trying
to manifest. Let's say that you were working on some
abundance success, so you want to embody the feelings of
having those situations now, So anchoring lets you program and

(02:41):
access those states like gratitude, confidence, and excitement, emotions that
align with the energy of the desired outcome of what
energy you would expect to feel when you have what
you're trying to manifest, And by using anchoring, you access
that straight away, which creates a much more powerful environment

(03:05):
for your manifestation to happen. And it's the same with
self transformation and healing. We can use it to create
states so our mind is in the perfect place to
transform our lives. We are creating the state that we
need to be in to make the outcome we want.

(03:26):
Be it healing, be it transformation, or be at abundance.
So how does anchoring work well. Anchoring taps into how
your brain naturally links emotions to sensory experiences. It's very
much like Pavlo's dogs. We're conditioned to salivate when they
heard a bell because they linked it with food. In

(03:50):
a similar way, you can train your brain to associate
a particular emotional state with a specific anchor. You are
already doing it, believe it or not. As with most
self help work, self transformation, self healing work, most of it,
you're already doing it. The difference is that now we
are going to make it a conscious activity. We are

(04:12):
going to make it something that you plan to do.
Now how it works In simple terms, choose what state
you want to be and is it confident, is it calm,
is it excited, or is it focus? You can do
more complex states, but let's begin there. Now. What I
want you to do is intensify that experience. Just recall

(04:34):
or imagine a time when you felt that emotion, when
you felt that state that you needed to do, and
you turn up all the dials, make it a lot
more vibrant, make it that, make it louder, turn up
every sense. And when you feel that it's at an apex,

(04:54):
when you feel that it's you know it's really happening,
create a stimulus, create an anchor, something like touching your knuckle,
freezing your thumb and finger together. But press it hard.
Don't just soft touch it. Do press it hard so
it's very noticeable, and then release it now. Once you've

(05:16):
set it once, you can use that same stimulus to
recall and step into that emotional state in the future.
So just trigger the anchor, press the finger and thumb together,
touch the knuckle wherever you decided your trigger would be.
Do it now. So how does all this benefit you.

(05:37):
Let's take a very real situation. Imagine you have a
big presentation coming up, or perhaps you are to have
a very challenging conversation. Instead of relying on WheelPower alone
to calm your nerves or boost your confidence, you could
simply activate your anchor to instantly tap into those feelings

(05:58):
of confidence or calmness that you've conditioned into yourself. So
as you can see this can have a profound impact
on your ability to perform under pressure, reduce anxiety, or
even reframe limiting beliefs, and step into a more empowered mindset.

(06:20):
Anchoring is something that is already widely used by athletes, performers,
and professionals to enhance their focus, their intellectual and emotional states,
and you can use it to reprogram old responses that
no longer serve you. It's like installing a new button
you can press any time and access your personal power.

(06:46):
So let's just take a moment and let's go through
a full exercise. So if you're sack comfortably, if not,
just pause this for a second. Just pause this episode
and restart it when you're ready. But find yourself somewhere comfortable. Okay, good, Now,
just for a moment, choose your desired state. Where do
you want to be, What emotions do you want to

(07:08):
be feeling? Choose whatever feels right for you. Now, close
your eyes and think back to a specific time in
your life when you felt this emotion deeply. If you're
anchoring confidence, think about a time you succeeded or felt

(07:31):
completely in control. If you're anchoring calm, imagine a time
when you felt at peace, like sitting on the beach
or after a deep meditation. Really immerse yourself in that memory.
Relive it. Where are you, what were you seeing, hearing, feeling,
Bringing every sense to life. Make it vivid, make it vibrant.

(08:00):
And now for step three, amplify the feeling. Turn up
all the controls. Let's make it loud or brighter. Let's
make it the bigger version of itself. Amplify that sensation
as much as you can everything you notice about it,
take it to the nth degree. If it's confidence, imagine

(08:24):
yourself standing tall, your shoulders back, with a sense of
power in your body. If it's calm, notice how you're
breathing become slower and deeper. Notice how your muscles relax.
Feeling intensely as if it's happening right now now. When

(08:47):
you feel this emotion at its peak, choose a unique anchor.
This could be a simpler squeezing your thumb and forefinger together,
tapping your wrist, squeezing the ear lobe. Whatever feels natural
and easy for you. Apply this touch where you are
fully immersed in the emotion. Hold it for a few moments.
As you continue to fill that state and step five,

(09:11):
release and repeat. Once you've held that state for a
few moments, release a touch, take a deep breath. Now
let's repeat that process against the Strengthen the anchor, bring
back that emotional state, intensify it, and as it reaches
its peak, apply the anchor again. Repeat this process five

(09:35):
times to really set the anchor, and then test it.
All you have to do, don't think about it, just
apply the anchor. Whatever anchor you created, apply it now.
Like many things, the more you practice it, the more
ingrained the anchor will become, the more it will be
part of who you are, and the stronger and the

(09:58):
quicker you can return to that state. So that's how
you create your very own emotional anchor. At a conscious level.
This is something that people do without realizing it. We
have habits as if you're a poker player, you'd call
it a tell things we do insert an emotional situation,

(10:18):
so it's your body language. You can tell what emotional
states you're in by your body language. But conversely, if
you exhibit that body language, you will create that emotional state.
This is a very simple but a very powerful technique.
It's something that we use a lot within an LP.
We use a lot in hypnotherapy and meditation. In fact,

(10:41):
most self improvement work. At some point in time you'll
be using one anchor or another, and it's something you
can use whenever you need to quickly access a positive
state in your life, whatever the situation, whatever you want
to access the environment. It gives you somewhere where you
can you can really tap into it. Remember every step

(11:05):
towards healing his progress to stay kind, stay strong, and
keep transforming. And then until next time, take care
