Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were now listening to the podcast for Geeks and
the Stuff they Love, where each week we'll talk about
everything from anime to movies, games and prop collecting with
the people who create and love it. I'm Jeremy, I'm Vince,
I'm James, and bit is your geek. I'm gonna show
you a clip right now. Yep, uh, and I'm gonna
I'm gonna show you a bunch of clips. You're gonna
(00:21):
kind of guess. You're gonna guess where they're from. Okay,
so let's start with semi easy one. What is this
from Slyders? No?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
That is that is a guess a McDonald's commercial.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I'm McDonald's commercial. Best guess is that what you're going with? Uh?
First off, what is this?
Speaker 3 (00:47):
It's a peaky either or basically, it's a shoe shiner.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Originally it was it was originally true shiner's true true,
and there was two of them made. This is one
of the two. Mm hmm. I was behind somewhere, Uh
are you? I can't even flip back, so I can't
see you guys. But anyway, yeah, Vince knows though. So
(01:15):
so here's a question for you, Vince, because this comes
becomes important later on. How can you tell the two?
Do you know how to tell the two p k
meters apart the the two props?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
I think it's the the buttons, right.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
It's it has to do with the screen the ale. Well,
it's it's how many lights. There's there's one that's like
thinks I think seven, right because went to sixty seven,
and then there's one that's like less. I feel they're
both yeah, way to go. No, but this but that's
important because it tells you where they were because the
(01:53):
first one, the one became popular in the first uh
first Ghostbusters. It melted right between what Ghostbusters won and
Ghostbusters two. And so you can tell if it's from
if it's the same one as was in Ghostbusters one
by the number lights uh, and then the uh which
(02:15):
one's from Ghostbusters to Biden the number.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
That's the low.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
So this is this is from one of those. This
is one of those two props. But you're correct and
saying it is not Ghostbusters though. This is from the
Fall Guy in nineteen eighties.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Lost their Lives.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Let's get it out of here. And this is the
one clip that I will say, actually it is being
used as it was in the Ghostbusters to sense ghosts
and so. But at the same time you have the
fall Guy. Uh not not the movie that came out recently,
uh but but right by the same name, but the
(02:55):
original Fall Guy. And the reason why we're talking about
this and why I'm showing you this is because there's
something that's that's called you know that's famous now, which
is reused props, right, recycled props. Because this prop was
made not by uh, you know, the Ghostbusters team, but
(03:22):
was made by prop house when Ghostbusters were done, which
was a low budget movie, which always blows my mind.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah it's a low budget movie. If you want to
make it now, it's gonna be a big budget movie.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Oh yeah, yeah, easily right, although it looked I mean,
it looks huge budget, right, but at some time. But
so the props when they were done, they went back
to that prop house. And when that happens, these prop
houses just keep on renting out these props so they
get used multiple times. They don't just appear in one movie,
you know, they basically have their own IMDb. Uh. So
(03:56):
I'm gonna show you some different clips. We're gonna look
at some of the some of the different places the
p K meter has been seen, and uh, and about
its history, because honestly, here's another But this looks like
Star Wars at the beginning, doesn't it. This is a
(04:17):
TV show. It was called Condor. It was made for
TV movie and uh, in this movie you got this
these robots And apparently you can use the p A
p K meter also to reprogram robots. Uh so that's
what she does?
Speaker 3 (04:36):
She Uh so this is this is what where Endler
got their aesthetic from. I guess that's right.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
It looks I think this came out of a post
uh the you know, Star Wars, but I mean definitely
those the outfits, like the right colors and stuff right there.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
You go. What's that so? Well it looks looked like
a like a ghostbutter belt as well.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Oh really, Oh so more than one thing might have
been used. Yeah, it's well. And the other thing to
keep in mind, that's cool about that prop that that
the Vince could tell you about. I still got a
reprogrammed mine. Uh. There's a little soldering trick with the
one from from Spirit Halloween that you can do so
you can run it. Literally it works just like the
(05:22):
real one and it's just a simple thing. But but
at the same time, like each of these actors, when
you see people using it, they're not just pushing a
button and making it go like like there's they're actually
having to you know, press things, and they have to
train them beforehand on how to use it, you know,
and so so uh so, yeah, so Egon he got
(05:46):
trained beforehand. Part of the reason why to use it
was because he was the one that was the first
to kind of figure out how to how to make
it look right when he would make it go up
and down, to the arms going up and down, the
flashing lights, the frequency, all that stuff. So each of
these people when you see them using it, like there
was time that was spent the you push this button,
year oldest thing and it does this and that, and
(06:08):
so they didn't just can't. Yeah. Yeah, this this scene
right here is from a show that I remember watching,
and I didn't I hadn't seen it actually for years
until last night.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Actually, So.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
This is from Misfits. Misfits of Science is what the
name of the series was. And I didn't remember who
was in it. I mean, big stars are we're in this.
I can't remember what the dad's name is from alf
that guy he's he's in this. Courtney Cox is in it.
(06:49):
Who I have a history with. Spent three weeks or
four weeks with her back in the day before she
made it to friends and and stuff. I didn't have
a as an experience. But at the same time the
season this as one of the main characters. This is
before that you know before friends as well. Who else
(07:09):
is in a whole bunch of people though. It was
quite surprising, but they the company that did all the
Ghostbusters stuff. In order to set up this particular room
that we're seeing these scenes in, they they just brought
in a pile of their props and so there's a
few Ghostbuster props that are hidden throughout this room. So
(07:31):
it's a little bit less. They don't like use the
Beha meter, but it makes appearances throughout within the environment,
and so if you look real closer you screen grab things,
supposedly you can see it. I haven't been able to
see it. Yeah, but it's video, of course, it's well yeah,
(07:52):
and that's the other thing is yeah, these are nineteen
eighties low quality, uh you know, probably recorded on VHS.
I tried, I went onto, I went onto all these.
I went onto Amazon to get higher quality copies and
it was still unpaid for it, and it was still
that level. So hey, the two other series that are
(08:13):
kind of like that, the feature of the pKa meter
were actually, well, I should say, two other episodes. One
is the kit versus car episode of Night Writer, and
then the other one night Writer something rust. Basically it
was in two different episodes, though supposedly it was inside
(08:36):
the semi you know, in their little science area. I
didn't see it, and some people, when I kind of
read up on it, said that what people think is
a meter is actually another device that looks like a
similar kind of thing, but it's it's another like sci
fi kind of prop. So it's hard to tell that
if it really made an appearance there, but it's definitely
(09:00):
in this movie. Yeah, they're using it. You can see it, gotcha?
Can you guys see that? So one guy's target, you
got one of the one guy's talking into it. This
guy they're using it to track things. Do you guys
know what movie this is? Yes, Stargate, Nope, it's it's
(09:25):
older and Stargate, but it is. It is a classic.
If you have not seen this movie, this is a
must see movie.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
The start, what's that predator?
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Predator? Nope, it's not, but it starts. It starts a
pretty big star of the time, which was it stars
Roddy Roddy Piper from the old World Wrestling Federation back
when it was the wwf uh and uh it was
called They Live. You guys heard that?
Speaker 3 (09:59):
See you know familiar?
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Yeah, the classic movie a sci fi movie. Basically, aliens
have come to Earth. They're slowly taking over mankind in
the background and reprogramming them with hidden messages, and Roddy
Roddy Piper happens to get a hold of some sunglasses
that let him Skelton face kind of things. Yeah, yeah, yep.
(10:24):
This is because the year that this came out. Uh,
this literally came out the same year as is Ghostbusters,
the first Ghostbusters or guess is that the props Now
it looks like they have multiple of them, but it's
really just one prop. They're they're just cutting multiple scenes
so that it looks like, uh, it looks like there's
(10:45):
several people. It looks like there's multiple.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
That's cool.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Straight from rock Roddy Piper to the other side of
the Vendean yep. Also w w f right. Yes, he
and Christopher Lloyd were in a movie called Suburban Combando.
Uh have you ever seen that? I don't know why
you Actually I watched it last night. I watched Paradise Religious,
(11:28):
which what's the one What's the one that he's in
where it has the guy thrown the dog behind him? Guys,
there's there's one where he's riding on a motorcycle and
it's become it's become very broadly shared. He's riding on
a motorcycle and in the background, as he's riding along,
(11:48):
you see this guy at the park throwing his dog
into the lake.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Okay, like mister mister nanny apparently.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Oh was it mister nanny? Okay, there you go. Yeah, yeah,
if you watched that show, you'll see that. It's it's
a class it's it's become a highly meaned scene where
he's throwing the dog. Bit Anyway, this movie, though, Yeah,
he comes. He's basically like a futuristic command of guy
that comes back and he has all these tools he
doesn't know how to use.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Really, in a few years, I can pull off Hulk's
haircut as well.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I guess could you let it keep going? Yea, let
a coach line.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Save the girl, Yes, I saved the girl.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
There's Christopher Lloyd, this girl.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
We can find them with this. It's zeros in on
the gun's electronic signal. This Why did we just use
this in the first place? Shut up, it's a shut
up Christopher Lloyd being young?
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah, yeah, this is early days but the same time again. Yeah, Now,
I don't know if that's actually Huld Cogan's hand though
now to think about it, because each time the show
they don't really show him holding and using it directly,
or that's Christopher Lloyd. I guess that's supposed to be
holding it. But again, this is where you know, you
know that they had to learn how to use it.
So they learned how to use the p K meter
(13:10):
and make it do its little function. I think that's
part of what's kind of fun about this, uh, this
whole thing. But look at it go again. How you
can tie down which which movie are sorry, which era
it's from, is based on a number of that machine.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
That machine has a whole fan base, Ronnie.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Oh yeah, yeah, we'll come back to that here in sack.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
So so one last movie that this is gosh, I
got to look at.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
What I do know what I'm looking at right now?
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Well, i'll tell you here. What is it like the
name of the movie The Other World? Yeah, Rules of
Attraction is the name of this one?
Speaker 3 (13:49):
All right? This is definitely not a monetized podcast.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
I guess we top of the people.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
The Muscular turn West World.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
How am I supposed to do my job?
Speaker 3 (14:09):
I don't know what you're talking with? The exceptional replacement
that guy that's.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
He played my favorite Martian years and using a lot
of you know a lot of different shows like comedies,
things like that. Another show with some kind of big
actors in it, but really low budget sci fi B
movie our series, I should say, Other Worlds.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
But in this.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Episode, and at the very beginning also of every single episode,
it shows a clip of what you're about to see,
which is.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Now he's got it just holding it in his hand,
which which is basically the mode. It looks like the
polisher at that point. It doesn't look like he never
opened up the arms on it.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
But but in in the hull clip, it looks like
the motor just gave out. You see one arm just sagging,
so it might just beat at the mall.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
It could be I thought, I thought that was sort
of the effects, like the sort of show that it
wasn't in that direction. It was in the other direction
because they can they turned with the car.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Oh maybe yeah, because it can open one arm or
the other. He does do some scanning with it, like
I said, give me a and in the intro, and
the intro is the it's a huge hand. In the
intro they show him actually scanning the hand closer and
it does have the arms out a little bit but
(15:35):
at the same time. So so that's I mean, yeah
for the pKa meter, the multiple places that it's appeared.
But you're right, you Vinzorie noticed it. Off to the
right here we have a very important recycled prop. Not
just a very important one, but it holds the Guinness
Book of World Records record for being reused the mo
(16:00):
and at least in sci fi movies and TV shows.
And this prop has a lot of different you know
names to it. This was built by John Zabruki of
Modern Props. Modern Props is one of those companies that,
like I said, had multiple things they rented out. This
(16:23):
is just one that every single time sci fi people
came along or were making a show. They would see it,
I think in their prop house and say, yeah, we
want to use that and so. And it actually has
multiple names. I had to look them all up because
I can't remember all the modern props. One nine five
dash two nine zero dash one is what it's most
known for. It's also the dual access generator, the dual
(16:47):
laser generator, and it's nicknamed the most important device in
the universe by its fans. And so, yeah, I'm going
to show you. So this time we're going to do
kind of the opposite. I'm gonna have you, guys, guess
what what movie it is that it's that it's appearing
(17:07):
in our show. I tried to do this last night.
There is a couple I can't I can't recognize us here.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
What have you found?
Speaker 1 (17:15):
All I found is that these red lights keep moving
back and forth.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Aside from that, this thing seems to have no other
function whatsoever is involved.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
But it must have some sort of function. I mean,
why would they govern one put all that money to
a thing with red lights? I keep going back and forth,
doesn't make any sense, keep working.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
So making making fun of that prop and things. There's
William Shatner. Do you know what movie that's from Stargate? No,
it's it's from a It's by the same people that
made Naked Gun things like that, and it's it's a
(17:52):
sci fi military comedy.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
But they yeah, they have the And of course William
Shatner has multiple times where he makes fun of his
role as appen Kirk and things. So here's some different shows.
So let's see how quickly you guys can identify the show.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Oh yeah, okay, what fa.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Yeah, uh, I.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Know what this is.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
But I came m the neighborhood, so.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
I can google the movie.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
You look it up.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Austin Powers Despire. Check me.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Uh, this is actually the first one. Yeah, so yeah,
it's in the background. He also backs a car into
it in that scene. But yep, Austin Powers. Okay, so yeah,
there you go.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
This one.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
I don't know what it is. Maybe somebody out there
this watching this can help us out. And then keeping
in mind also that this is uh, I'm trying to
remember that sometimes that this is only an audio for
some of you. So the last scene that I Zowe
had basically, yes, Austin Power is in the foreground in
the background. You can see this machine.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
In this scene, we got this lady walking into the laboratory.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
If I may, it's like a kink dungeon like with
the amount of tools and stuff that she's going. It
does look it does.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
She is you'd know her from Star Trek the next generation.
She's from that. But this is not that's not what
this show is. Show your or it's some kind of comedy.
It's but there's the machine in the background, its flashing
red and lights, and.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
It's a definitely movie. What do you think it is?
Speaker 2 (19:49):
No, No, I was wondering if like the way that
they're using it is to change consciousness.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Yeah, I think I think so share power. I can't remember,
but when I chronic vibes, it kind of looks like
kind of looks like this is probably he would have
been a kid when they made this, probably because this
looks like early eighties, maybe late eighties, early nineties, because
she this is definitely just about when she would have
(20:15):
been in Star Trek. She was only in the first
only like the first season, and then they killed her off.
I can't remember.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yeah, she felt in the dark raid or something.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Yeah, any rate, all right, if you look really closely,
you can tell what it's from.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
I look close near, can you tell?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
I imagine you mean, like using the monitor, but I can't.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Yeah, the little the little tiny monitor you can barely
make out. So there's there's a scene where in the
foreground is this machine and then in the background you
can see a little monitor that she's talking into and
they're wearing Star Trek uniforms, but it doesn't look like
a Star Trek sat Otherwise. What's funny is I do
(21:03):
recognize too what they're using to make that little futuristic
monitor is the back of a camera. That's an old
Cinetech camera right there. But anyway, so like the ones
you would use to film on stage and stuff, So
this might actually be the back of a monitor. They
super imposed the image, but at the same time, so
Star Trek okay. And then it's also a classic so
(21:34):
you got the the machines in the foreground.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Mm hmm, it looks.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Yeah. I think Vince has to say it again, Vince
the last star title?
Speaker 3 (21:46):
That is it? Yes?
Speaker 1 (21:47):
It is? Wait years that come out? Do you know?
Are you looking at.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
I haven't seen it in a good while. I saw.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Or something or earlier. No, I mean it was it featured.
So the whole premise of this movie was that you
you'd go and play a video game. I can't remember
if he played it on the arcade, right and uh
in the name of the video game is the Last
(22:16):
Starfighter and if you've got enough high enough score on it.
It was the way that the that this alien you
know group was was finding their starfighters to you know,
help them with their federation and stuff. These some of
these suits too that they're wearing are repurposed actually from
(22:37):
another movie. But at the same time, the way that
they look that they gained popularity is definitely this show,
so you can kind of recognize it just by it.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
I was gonna say that the concept of the film, like,
I haven't seen this specific film, but I've seen the
concept and other things, like I know that there's a
South Park episode where they have the gold the Golden
PSP to control the Armies of Heaven against the Armies
of Hell.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Yeah, and I'm sure I've heard of like other places where, but.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Yeah, I think I think there's been other shows that
literally have have you know, pulled from this that you
know the other There's so many clips that I found,
but on the flip side. Uh, you know, for the
most part, I think there comes to be a point
where they skip over someone that last one was Star Trek.
Most of these are gonna be Star Trek. But on
the flip side, I am curious if you guys will
(23:29):
recognize this one because this was a huge show when
it came out. It was a TV show, a TV series.
It has been remade more recently and uh yeah, so
you'll see it in the background. You might recognize the
show from the ships. It's kind of dark, kind of blurry,
but that's nineteen eighties. You guys know what it was.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
It's love Bella Starglecta.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Is it no original now it would? I think it
came out just after that. It was. It was made
for TV show. I remember I had nightmares actually from
this show. Ah, so the show featured. Let me see
if you guys can guess it based on the description show.
So the uh, the the Earthling is is who's sneaking around?
(24:20):
So so there's there's people come from out of space.
They come to they tell everyone that they're here to help,
that you know, they're the Earth's great and that they
want to work with us and stuff like that. They
look human and and then eventually you find out spoiler alert,
you find out that they're like lizard people and they
(24:42):
have wear these like these masks things.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Oh it's a documentary.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
It's not a documentary. This happened yesterday in the future. Uh.
The part of the scar me. For some reason, there
was a scene where the lady has a baby and
the baby is like all lizard and for some reason
that freaked me out. I had nightmares everything else about it.
(25:11):
I think it was probably eight or something when it's
come out. But anyway, oh, okay, yeah, it was called
the Which which stood for Visitors, and they remade it
fairly not too long ago, I think on Netflix or something.
I made a new version of it. But at the
same time, I don't think it did very well. But
(25:32):
it was so big back then, like when you went
to school, you're like, oh, did you watch the episode
last week or last night? And uh, yeah, it was.
It was a little it was kind of intense, but
now looking back on it, it it wasn't that big
of a dell. So anyway, I have no idea what
this one's from, but this next one you probably you
(25:54):
might know what it is, just from seeing the person. Uh,
so we have get the name of the actor here.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
I thought it was Earth Final Conflict or Alien Nation?
That last one?
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Oh is that that last one? The last clip that
I can I'm not sure that that was V.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
I thought it was.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Was Alienation V for visitors this one. So without giving it,
it's hurd for me to give it away unless I
knew the actor's name. But uh, you got a doctor,
a doctorate in you know something. He's talking into a recorder.
(26:34):
You'd recognize him as he moves mars.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Yeah, I think I know, Yeah, I think you're right.
You're probably right. Is it the Hulk?
Speaker 1 (26:47):
That's right? This is the original TV series? Oh wow,
so this is doctor Banner. Uh, you know, this is
the actual this is the big scene, you know, where
everything happens and they've got that machine going in the
background doing nothing.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
That was.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Bar band that comes in. That's that's from one of
the episodes. Actually. Yeah, so they move around back and
forth and it's in the background of his lab throughout
that series.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
The series.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Do you really I think what was the show he
was watching the other day where they made fun of
the end of Yeah, the Oh gosh, what what is
it that I was watching and the guy went walking
away at the end and they played the music he
had his backpack on.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Yeah that's yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Yeah, and uh but yeah, from the original series, at
the end of every episode he'd go walking away, they
play the sand music because he watched.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Yeah, I don't know what the show was. I was
watching the other day, but yeah I did too. So anyway, yep,
the flash James Lady got it. I don't know how
you figured it out so fast. Is yeah, yeah, he's
got the flash here. He's also inside a lap and
you got the machine is going in the foreground.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
That's where he was born.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
The original winner Is this the one that But anyway, uh,
most of these, like I said, most of these have
been Star Wars, the original Star Trek, the TNNG uh
you know it's also it's appeared in so many that
I was like after I was pulling some of these,
(28:35):
like I'm not gonna bother to keep showing. But it
looks like it's a Star Trek.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Some kind of supply or something, right like those those.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Are attached to. I think it's Une's. This is Yuan's laboratory,
I think. But anyway, yeah, everywhere you go, it's an
important device in Star Trek, no matter what universe, no
matter what.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Are they using it as a coffee table there?
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Well it is the last Starfighter. You know, they walked
up to it and got food.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
The reason I mentioned it is because you were saying, yeah,
it's it's a very impulsant device, and I'm literally seeing
them like use it just to put stuff on.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Yeah, yeah, they're like, god is it's in the background
of this scene and you got somebody randomly sitting there
and the other just trying to figure out what it's
supposed to be doing. But anyway, yeah, we'll skip over
all the the Star Trek stuff. One of the last shows, Uh,
this one, right, do you know what show this is?
(29:40):
This guy walks in and he says Captain Rogers, sir.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Oh this is.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Mister, yeah, mister, see my name Rodgers. Neighborhood, Different neighborhood.
The next scene, the next scene, he walks in and
takes his shoes off. Actually, this is a scene.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
That they have more.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
This is still still the same show.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
It looks like French Napoleon soldiers, like French Napoleon pirate soldiers.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Yeah, these guys, they they are all they all have.
I actually remember this episode. It's crazy, it's stuck in
my head all this time because I used to watch
this show. So this is Buck Rogers. I used to
watch this back when I was a kid, and this episode,
these guys can all use their minds to control stuff.
(30:41):
There's a scene that was for TV thought to be
too hot where they one of the female characters. They
all are like, hey, we want to see what's underneath
and they start off thinking, uh and stuff. So may
if for that era they were like, oh, we might
cancel the show the same time this. Uh, then these
(31:08):
guys this is the kind of the last one that
has that in there. But at the same time, uh,
this device has has been become so you know, it
has such a fan base it people are making them,
they're building them. There. I saw a couple I think,
(31:29):
uh tested Norman Chan went out and talked to a
guy that's he's he made it kind of a this
I think about this long, this big one that he
had out for display.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Just because he's all into LEDs right now.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Isn't it wouldn't be that hard to make. I mean,
it's not a you got to you got stuff that
you can easily three D print and then yeah you
can use that filament and run the cross for sure,
and then you just got to and then run series.
So I think there's like four lights in each one.
They just rotate. But but yeah, these are.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
The ghettout race tubes, right, Yeah, that's what they look like.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
So yeah, these are these These are just two examples
of the props that are reused and repurposed and have
made appearances across you know sci fi show So.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
If you can, I mention, Yeah, when was it prop
store last year? And I hope to go this year
as well, So so left to chat with. But there
was a a coat, a dust coat from Blondie from
the Good and Bad and Ugly like to Eastwood. That
(32:44):
coat up until like two weeks before I went, there
was in a costumers like a rental shop being rented
out for the theater place and all that kind of
and they they were visiting or some with the collection
and then one of the props are guys man like,
do you know do you know about?
Speaker 1 (33:04):
You know what this is?
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Do you know what this is? And it's sold for
about like eighty thousand or something, but just just to
be they have to actually cancel the reservation for the
theater group that was arounding it for like fifty bucks
an hours or you were even or something, and they've
just found it because a lot of stuff has been
reused over the years, and one of these things was
that those custom shops or prop shops, they just yeah,
(33:27):
they have a set stock that you can hire basically.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Well, that's part of the reason why some of these
disappear into ambiguity too, is because they don't have a
lot of investment in these props as just props sometimes
you know, and stuff. Dan Lanagan I do want to
mention real quick that Dan Lanagan has started a new
channel for sharing some of his different props and this is
down with a couple of his friends to go through
each of his propsy ons and the pKa Meter is
(33:51):
one of those they do. They actually take his PK
meter and open it, which is something he said he
would never do, yeah, in order to be able to
see what it was really made up of. And they
bring in the actual polisher and hold it up to
figure out how I had to be modeled and if
it was the actual one on the inside or if
(34:12):
they just used it for casting and stuff, so be
sure to check out his chance trying to look up
Cinema Relics is the name of the channel.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
I'm quitting the podcast. I'm going to watch that a test.
