Σήμερα, Κυριακή των Μυροφόρων, η Εκκλησία μας τιμά τις μαθήτριες του Κυρίου, οι οποίες πρώτες πρωί πρωί της Κυριακής έζησαν το θαύμα της Αναστάσεως.
Επίσης, τιμούμε τους δύο μαθητές του Κυρίου, τον Ιωσήφ τον από την Αριμαθαία, ευσχήμονα βουλευτή, και το Νικόδημο, νυκτερινό μαθητή.
Ο μεν πρώτος τόλμησε και ζήτησε το σκήνωμα του Ιησού από τον Πιλάτο, για να το ενταφιάσει. Ο δε δεύτερος δάνεισε τον τάφο του, για να εναποθέσουν το σεπτό σκήνωμα του Θεανθρώπου Ιησού Χριστού.
Οι Μυροφόρες πηγαίνουν στον τάφο του Ιησού Χριστού, σύμφωνα με την παράδοση, για να πάρουν τα μύρα στον ηγαπημένο Διδάσκαλό τους, αλλά, στον άδειο τάφο, Άγγελος Κυρίου θα τις πληροφορήσει για το μεγάλο γεγονός της Αναστάσεως και θα ζητήσει από αυτές να μεταφέρουν το χαρμόσυνο μήνυμα στους Αποστόλους, πράγμα που έπραξαν, αποφεύγοντας να πουν το μήνυμα αυτό σ’ οποιονδήποτε άλλο στο δρόμο, γιατί τις κατείχε τρόμος και έκσταση.
