Ain't your daddy? He said? But you know you will

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I'm looking forward to a couple of interviews and then
we're gonna get in a couple of people business as well.
Appreciate you guys. I can't wait till get the show started.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
Yeah, let's get it started.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Man.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
First guest, let's let's bring him out.
Speaker 9 (04:28):
This is Bob Bush, CEO of with Tumbo Coffee at
the Steve Harvey Golf Classic with the Baller Alert show.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
That's going, mister, mister bunch. How you doing, sir?
Speaker 9 (04:38):
It's great. It's a wonderful day. I got in very
early this morning. I was in Florida. But uh, you know,
since my golf game isn't as good as my talking.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
But you guys, okay, okay, I appreciate that.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
T us a little bit about your company, Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 9 (04:55):
I started the company about almost four years ago with
the Kembe Mutombo was an NBA Hall of Famer. Of
course we know that global humanitarian. I've known him for
thirty five plus years when he was a freshman, seven footer,
gangly coming in from the Congo going to Georgetown. He
went to school with my little sister and I would
(05:17):
pretend to come visiting her because to make my parents happy.
But you know, back in those days, the Hauwyers were bad,
and so I'm there trying to hang out with the
Kimba and Alonzo Morning and those guys and pretending that
I was there to see my sister. So that's been
a very long relationship there, and we decided that you
wanted to take some of his humanitarian stuff and create
(05:37):
a commercial enterprise that can still give back into the
communities he cares about in Africa, particularly with women farmers
and what coffee, because the story of coffee is very interesting,
you know, I'm sure how many of you guys have
heard about Italian coffee.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
I've heard about it, but not too much about that.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
I went to Costa Rica and they have their own
coffee and it was pretty delicious. Yeah, that's that's I know,
they make their their on coffee.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (06:05):
So most people don't know that the birthplace of coffee
is Africa. And in Africa it's Ethiopia. And there's a
little port in a place called Yemen, one of the
smallest countries, in one of the poorest countries in the world,
and is a port called the Mocha Port. And the
birthplace of coffee comes from eastern Africa. And yes, it
(06:25):
ended up in Costa Rica and Brazil and all these
other places, but the most of the coffee came out
of Africa and to Kim and I started focusing on
coffee because the country of the Congo used to have
a very vibrant trading of coffee. But you know what happens, right, Oh,
(06:46):
these shenanigans, these political issues, these international trade issues, et cetera.
So he's got a very significant foundation with hospitals and education,
and I said, you know what, let's let's not do AID,
let's do trade that's a way to empower our people
and the continent and your particular people through commerce and
(07:06):
not charity.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Whose idea was the coffee? Like, whose idea was it?
Your idea? Was it his idea? Is he a coffee
drink or are you a coffee drinker?
Speaker 9 (07:13):
Well, yes, he's definitely a coffee drinker. Coffee seems random,
Well it's not random. One the Congo drinks grows a
lot of coffee that dies on the venture and dark coffee.
So I chuckle when I say he's a coffee drinker
because he likes the coffee like a lot of kids do, right,
They want the flavor and the sugar. So I said, man,
(07:36):
this isn't coffee. This is a coffee flavored hot beverage.
But if it's a if it's a good coffee, Like
do you put ketchup on a good steak? No, you
put ketchup on a burger. So all these people out
there thinking that they're drinking great coffee.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Yeah, So how should coffee be consumed.
Speaker 9 (07:56):
If it's a great coffee, it should be smooth, You
should enjoyed black. But you shouldn't have to mask the
quality of the beans by putting all this flavor and
sugar in it, which is typically what you get from
some other brands out there. By Starbucks, I didn't say that, but.
Speaker 6 (08:11):
Perhaps, but a lot of people don't know that coffee
is a fruit.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
Yes, and it can be healthy for you. Coffee is
a fruit.
Speaker 9 (08:19):
In fact, they call them cherries at the at the
part at the earlier part in their of their life cycle.
Speaker 6 (08:23):
So you're educated because it can be healthy for you
without like you said, all.
Speaker 9 (08:27):
The edits and you know it's and it's okay to
add a little. So today you guys should definitely try
some and I can bring some out to you. We
least some flavored coffees and some unflavored and so yeah,
you want to have your coffee if you wanted a
little bit of flavoring. We're a little bit of something
in it. But what you don't want is that the
other stuff sort of overpowers, at least for me. But
(08:47):
that's how people like it. I would say, it's it's
certainly better than certain other you know, sodas and some
other things you can do.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Right, you get the.
Speaker 9 (08:56):
Caffeine, you get the which is a boost for performance,
and then you can get some different flavors so you know,
we allow our customers to determine how they want to
have it. The best thing for us is it's the cause.
It's great coffee, it's a great cause where you're really
trying to support female farmers in our seven African countries
(09:16):
that we source from. And it's the storytelling because most
people don't understand that Africa is the birthplace of coffee,
and so when it ended up in Brazil and close
to RecA et cetera, that was a couple hundred years
journey before it got to Latin America.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Interesting.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
So if people want to learn more or want to,
you know, donate to the cause, where can they do so?
Speaker 9 (09:37):
So so one of the things that's different about us
than other charities and foundations. We don't need your charity.
We're creating an economically sustainable business model. So they buy it,
You buy it, and you know that what we're doing
with the money is to have social impact. So we
want to make sure that first you've got to love
the coffee, you appreciate the cause, and then we and
(09:58):
our supply chain and value chain make sure that money
gets to where it needs to get.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
Where can we purchase it?
Speaker 9 (10:04):
You can go to Tumble Coffee dot com coffee, and
the most of our business is corporate, but we're now
starting to do Amazon and the website.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
So y'all are getting it out to the people, trying
to get it out to the people. So I want
to switch gears. Now we are here to talk about
golfing as well. How long have you been golfing?
Speaker 9 (10:23):
I've been golfing poorly for about forty years.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Golf right now?
Speaker 5 (10:30):
So you his friends left, so y'all said he not
not good? So how hard do you think it is
to golf?
Speaker 9 (10:43):
You know, as with anything, whether you are working on
your golf game or working in your coffee game, it
takes practice, it takes resiliency, it takes putting the work in.
And I've just had so many other things I've put
the work in. I just haven't put enough work into
my golf game as I have in my other businesses
and in my in my uh coffee game. Which is
(11:03):
why I'm well, I'm talking to you guys and not
on the course.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
And we'll continue to keep up the great word with
Tumble Coffee. We appreciate you, mister.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
You get back working on your game. We go get
back to talking.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
You know.
Speaker 9 (11:16):
One of the things we'd love to do for you,
if you like, we could come up with a code. Yes, yes,
is I don't know whether it's a baller load or something.
We could create a coupon code for anybody that follows
your show, and we'll track it and make a donation
to you. If the balloer Alert has a foundation, or
(11:38):
if you guys want to do an affiliate program where
you can make some money from it, we can create
some some income from you through time.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Gentleman that you got to talk to anyway, his name
is Gerard. Yeah, you gotta give us some love advice.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
Well, let's start here. May we try the coffee on
on camera, just to make sure.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
That go with it.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
I love that idea, as long as you promise to
be truthful about like I said, I want honest opinions.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
I think we should start there because that's going to
determine whether we want to go forward or Now.
Speaker 9 (12:07):
I now know why Octavia is part of this program. Smart,
So if you give me a minute, I'll bring you
some out.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
All right, we're still rolling right, so we are we
are alive. He really came back with the coffee.
Speaker 9 (12:20):
Yes, of course, that's why we're here to show you
some coffee.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Love tumbo coffee. Now, which ones, which ones?
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Which?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Which?
Speaker 9 (12:27):
So this is Archie who's supporting us today? This is so,
this is our fan favorite. This is the blueberry cold brew.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
I want that. Okay, let's get it started. This is
called blueberry.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Okay, that's good for me.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Sice coffee.
Speaker 6 (12:51):
I can smell it actually from smell the blueberry too.
That does smell good.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Wow, this is good. This is good.
Speaker 10 (13:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (13:01):
Now, are you a regular coffee drinker or are occasional?
Speaker 2 (13:05):
But my wife is this is a duty coffee drink.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
I am a coffee drink.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
I'm a coffee drinker as well. This is really good.
Speaker 9 (13:10):
Oh, thank you appreciate that very good.
Speaker 6 (13:13):
Is this good heated too? Or can it just be cold?
Speaker 9 (13:16):
So we have coffee that's that's done with the hot brew.
That's so the reason why this is a bit smooth
and it's a little bit of a different taste profile
because it's truly an iced coffee because it's on ice.
But the brewing is done through a cold brewing process,
so the beans are not heated in the same way.
Which means the chemical process is different. It tends to
(13:37):
be smoother. The flavor is a little bit more intense
than you would normally get.
Speaker 6 (13:44):
I would I would buy that blueberry.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
That's good, all right.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
And he did not pay us for this ad just
to let you say it's good.
Speaker 9 (13:55):
But we will make sure that your office gets some
after the show.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
I say, let's say, let's okay, okay, and which one
is this one? Mocha, mocha, mocha, I.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
Love me somemocha.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
Cold brew?
Speaker 9 (14:16):
What you think? Bt?
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Damn?
Speaker 4 (14:17):
This is good?
Speaker 9 (14:19):
Like the blueberry better, blueberries better. I like the mocha better. Actually,
oh we got we gotta vote from Ferrari for the
for the mocha being a little bit better than the blueberry.
What about you, Octavia.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
I would have to say the blueberry is a little
bit more tasty.
Speaker 9 (14:31):
Yea, all right, So we got two for the blueberry,
one for the mocha.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
I picked back up my blueberry.
Speaker 9 (14:36):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Like the mocha.
Speaker 5 (14:39):
That's good because he's not even a coffee drinking right.
Speaker 6 (14:42):
And the blueberry is not overbearing. It's not like it
doesn't take over there. It's just.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
It's like like blueberry, but you can still taste it
as like good rich coffee.
Speaker 9 (14:54):
Right and there what it was we were it was
very important that I said, they didn't have this artificial
taste to it.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
I like that.
Speaker 9 (15:01):
Yeah, I like that very good. So we got vanilla.
We also have hazel nut, and we can do depending
on the size of the client, we can actually do
custom blends and things, you know, tastings with the company
and they go, you know, we'll create a special blend
for them or for the celebrity so that the flavor
profile sort of fits when they want.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
I know, a lot of rich people buy y'all coffee.
Speaker 9 (15:27):
Hey, well we need we need to get it out
where we can.
Speaker 6 (15:30):
Yeah, listen, with this being said, I you know, I
recommend people check out my Tumbo coffee, my tumble dot com,
tumble Coffee dot com.
Speaker 9 (15:39):
Dot m U t O m b O coffee dot com. No, no,
no bad coffee in my house, right, No, no bad coffee.
Speaker 6 (15:50):
Much for letting us taste tests, and we look forward
to the partnership because this has been approved.
Speaker 9 (15:58):
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Ball Alert.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
This is a blueberry moment.
Speaker 11 (16:01):
We'll be right back with more of the Baller Alert Show.
You're listening to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
What's up? What's up? Vince Carter? Here, I'm chilling on
the Baller Alert Show.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Man the Man, the myth, the legend, the lesson.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Vince Carter, He's here.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
How's gone?
Speaker 4 (16:19):
I'm good?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Now, you're a good golfer, sir.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I enjoy it. I played? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Was that a yes or no?
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (16:26):
It was like, we know you do that basketball?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Was I saw you turned in your card?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
We shot fifteen hundred today?
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Wow, I'm hearing the more negative the better correct. Okay.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
So I started in ninety eight, so that's when I
came out and I kind of caught the bug, meaning
the addiction twenty ten eleven somewhere in there. And since
I've retired, that's kind of been my sport. That's kind
of been my competition. So so playing twenty two years
and abruptly stopping, you know, I stopped doing COVID. I
(16:58):
had to find a competition. You know, you just don't
turn that off. Do something for so long, you just
can't turn it off. So that was one of my things.
When I was retiring, I was kind of concerned about
not being miserable because that fit fed my competitive spirit.
That's what I'm routine based. So I like to be routine.
I did the same thing or pretty much the same
(17:19):
thing for twenty two straight years, and now to turn
it off, and just like all right, here I am world.
So I was always playing golf, and and I kind
of dove in a little more, dove in a little
more to where I got myself to a single digit
just because I enjoy the sport and I enjoy the
competition because I don't know if you guys play golf
like that, but you can have a great day one day,
or a great shot one hole or a great shot,
(17:41):
and your next shot can be disaster. And that's the
competition of it, the focus, the mental focus of it,
which I enjoy.
Speaker 6 (17:47):
Did somebody put you onto it?
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Dean Smith, my college coach, is the one University of
North Carolina or North Carolina? He told Antoine Jamie said,
and I she said, hey, you guys should start this
sport because business, deals, opportunity, there's a lot of great
things that comes with golf.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
I was like, cool, how many how many deals category
you run out?
Speaker 4 (18:09):
I just say, a bunch of opportunity? Playing golf, meeting
Steve Harvey, Steve Harvey on the golf course, through golf.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Yeah, and that's understand here too. Like a lot of
the a lot of people we've been interviewing today has
been talking about the opportunities and the deals that come.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
Most of the people I know are from golf courses, wow,
or playing golf, or we had the conversation like, oh
you golf, Yeah? Where Oh should be playing Florida? Oh,
let me when I come there, I'm gonna hit you up.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Question.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
I do see nothing else.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
I do see a lot of NBA players that past
and present, they go straight to the golf course outside
of any other side extra sport.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
So I didn't get a chance to play during Coke
in the bubble with those guys. But I was already
playing but hearing Like Jason Tatum, he's the guy that
picked it up and now plays a lot. There's a
lot of guys that play. I mean, it's just it's competitive,
and it just depends on the person. Like some people
go out there and play like I don't understand how,
or some people just go out there and play it
for the joy of being outside. I don't play this
for for the joy being outside.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
You other NBA players because of the competitiveness of the.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
If you got it, you got it.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
If you love you love it. But there's people who
try it because of I'm just gonna see what what
it was about. And then those guys who once you
get kind of caught up, like, Okay, I want to
get good at it. And I'm gonna use Charles Barkley
for example. Charles bark who's good. He had you know,
we know the infamous yips and just and he was
on my team today.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
And how do.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
I mean he's he's a single digit as well now
just from working at it because he's a competitor and
every shot he hit bad. I mean, I'm surprised everybody
didn't hear him yelling. And that's just the competition and
the competitive side. So I also play in the tournament
in Lake Tahoe all athletes, so you played player, Remember
Steph Curry hit the whole on one yo anymore? So
(19:56):
a lot of US athletes go out there. That's like,
that is our tour championship like the pros, and to
play against each other in competition, and that's that's like
I mean when I tell you guys talking jump to
each other and really competitive outside of their own sport.
That's the tournament to see it, and it's just it's
a great feeling. Like we're not professional golfers, but this
(20:18):
is our passion, our our joy, our hobby outside of
what we do. And it's crazy to see, like how
competitive dudes are.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
Man, have you ever wanted to put on your own tournament?
Speaker 4 (20:29):
I have. I used to put on a tournament years ago,
and I'm thinking about bringing it back. But yeah, I'm
bringing it back and bring us back with absolutely man,
for sure. I mean that'd be great because I enjoy
I enjoy what golf tournaments do for people, bringing people together.
I've never been around y'all. I know who you are.
You guys know how we've never had the opportunity, but
the Steve Harvey Charity. You know what I'm saying. And
(20:52):
it's not through social media. It's through in person, in person.
But you don't we don't you know? I mean it is.
I came in into in the game when there was
no social media. So you meet the person, you hear
a person by word of mouth or when you actually
run into somebody. Now it's just a little different. So
the personal, the up closer person like that to people
like I try to support people all the time my foundation.
(21:15):
I have people who support me, but I enjoy being
here because I love what where the heart is and
what they're trying to accomplish.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
I'll ask your questions now. I know we're talking about golf,
but I have to ask you this. I was in
eleventh grade. You did that slim dunk contest, and to me,
that was the greatest. That was the greatest slam dunk
contest I've ever seen of all time. Appreciate you for that.
I appreciate those two years in Atlanta, right even though
we got you at the end. It's okay. Do you
(21:44):
think the NBA should stop the NBA Slam Dunk Contest
because I'm getting frustrated.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
I don't. I just I don't, and I understand the
frustration of it. I just want, because you know that
you're the bar that people are correct, and I'm going
to say I don't. I just want guys who enter
the contest to take it seriously. My approach to the
dunk contest at that time was like it was a
game day. I got my nap, like it was a
(22:09):
game day, I was focused, and I mean I was
still trying to get my cousin t Mac back out
because he didn't want to do it. But that, I mean,
this is something I always wanted to do. I wanted
to give the folks a show. And what you did.
You know, this is something I enjoyed to do, and
that's why you got the best version of me because
of it. And I just think today and this is
(22:30):
my opinion, and I know people don't have it whatever,
that's fine, but in my opinion, I just think guys
coming there and it's like, yeah, I'm here, I know
I'm athletic, I'm gonna go out there, but they don't
really put their heart in their approach. It's not like
a game day.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
But it doesn't seem like they taking it serious, seem
like it seemed like it's like an outfit contest like point.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
It's not like it's not like the approach of a
game day game day when you know you got to play.
You're coming out to the play your best, the best
you put on the show for the fans on a
game day. So I'd like to see guys take that approach.
I think you will see a better version of going
to come back. I mean it just you just gotta
get I mean it's hard to say. I like to
(23:09):
see them up the Anne and money and maybe that
that means nothing to him because of the contracts that
guys are making right now. So you know, it just
I don't know what what how you can do it.
It's just we have It's the mentality shift that has
to be, you know, for the brand, for you know there.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
Get it out.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
I just think guys are afraid of the negative feedback
if they don't win. Okay, but let me ask you
a question. Did you guys watch Zach Lavine and Aaron
Gordon when they went to add it?
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yeah, that was great.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
That think Aaron Gordon got negative feedback?
Speaker 2 (23:47):
He didn't.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
He put on a damn good show on The Gray Show.
And that's my point, corect You're talking about crazy and
this is the guy who didn't win. This is the
guy who didn't win.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
He didn't win.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
But it's not negative.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
But I think that's not winning.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
That's fine. But if you go out there and put
on the show, you like, he didn't entertained that.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was in a team.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
But what I'm saying I have been saying, but it built,
it built. It didn't just build Zach Lavine the Winners brand.
It also did for Aaron Gordon because the conversation was, dang,
he probably should have won the second time because he
put on a good show, and that's what people want. Like,
that's why you said, you're you're asking that because you
want to see a good show.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
I want to see what you did.
Speaker 6 (24:30):
That's an of an interesting show. Real quick, What do
you think about the women's Game?
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Now?
Speaker 4 (24:33):
I love it? I love it. So shout out to
Keisha Sales.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
She used to play in the w n B A.
She's now a coach at University of Georgia. So she
played for the Orlando Miracle when they had a team,
they folded moved to uh, Connecticut so which became the
Connecticut Son So I've always followed them and that was
my workout partner. Wow, Okay, that's why I worked out
when the summer when everybody was going to play, I
worked at her. She got hard and they I hated
(24:59):
working women because they played They played the game differently,
but at the same time, they're physically tough and that's
how they that's how their approach is to the game.
So I love it. I love the product. You know,
you hear people say, oh, it's boring and not seeing this,
but continue to watch, continue to watch this game because
you're now seeing more athleticism. Did y'all see the video
of the girl, the white girl throws the girl the
(25:19):
lob and the girl catched it? Dumbk this is what
we're about to see. Yeah, we're about to see. We're
seeing athleticism. We're seeing more, we're seeing different handles. You're
seeing guys, well girls with the ability and the flair
and the playing style like the NBA players.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
And we're getting generational talent too. Like I know a
lot of people being hey, you know Kaylin, But you know,
I love the way she's bringing excitement back to the game.
Do you think that uh, ladies in a w NBA
are targeting her because of the attention she's getting.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
This is this is what happens to a rookie. Yeah,
this is what happens to a rookie. This is what
happens to the marquee player. Angel rees, that's what she said,
as my angel, Angel ree the same thing. I guarantee
there's more girls like those are the those are the
marquee girls what we see. But we've all been through it.
(26:09):
We all been through it, man, I know, but that's
just what it is like. You got to earn your strike, Yes,
you got to earn your stripes. And remember this, I
say this all the time. You this is not the
I mean and I say this understanding, n I L
is what it is. Right. But when you go to
a professional world and you're in competition against other professionals
(26:32):
who are trying to feed their family, mortgages.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
Give you the business every time.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Family ain't not about to let you look You're not
about to look good.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Well, guess what I need to make my name. I
need to do my thing against you because I particularly
in the.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
W n b A because their their salary isn't very much.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
And I mean the the what's the other girl? Caitlyn's
teammate for the Aces. There were five games in and
that's when she found out she made the team. Wow,
that's crazy. You see what I'm saying. So to me
and like I said, people may disagree with it. The
WNBA is one of the harder professional teams to make.
(27:07):
Less teams, Yeah, not many spots and then I mean
we're seeing first round picks not make it, which is
insane to me.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. The girl friend the
aces got cut, you know, yeah yeah, five she got cut,
yeah yea, yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
I mean I'm seeing that they're not getting offered contracts
upon arrival because it's only twelve teams right now, gotcha,
fifteen positions for twelve teams.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
Y'all do the math and tell me how hard that
would be. Mind you, it's four hundred and let's just
say sixty positions in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
So you know, we always talking about appreciated this dude. Sorry,
this dude, this he's part of four hundred and sixty
people in the world and he would kick your in
La fitness wherever you know, take us. This This is
me sitting back at home, and it's not like it's
not like going at people. It's just I just want
people to think about what they're saying. Sometimes there's only
four hundred and sixty spots. So if you still see
(28:04):
that that dude or you feel like this dude sucks
and he's terrible, like you said, when you have to
line up with it, you don't see different. I mean
against the best player for every team or the best five.
So he maybe there's like eight nine players better than
him on that team. But guess who he plays against
every day.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
The top players in the wyrie every day and.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Get a chance of players, you know. So that's what
I'm saying. So like that's why them girls in the
w But it goes hungry. Yes, those girls are hungry.
And I learned I'm gonna tell you, I learned the
same thing. I play with Trey Young. He learned the
same way he was the marquet player. Gods were going
after him too, knocking him around. That's his boy, knocking
him around. You know what I'm saying. But my only,
my only beef, only beef with it is that's your teammate.
(28:49):
And Matt Barnes said it best. At no point have
we seen girls run over there, get up in another
another player, female's face, say oh, push the player. Sometime
get a technical for on her behalf teammates back.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
That happens in college. But it is a seem like
the w n b A is having a lot of these.
I think we'll start seeing.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Oh yeah, But I'm just just wanting people to understand man,
like this is a business man. Everybody trying to eat
man and it's not I mean, it's it's it's aggressive,
Like that's just what how sports are. It's like you're
just now starting to pay attention to this game. But
like I said, I hated playing against the when I
was in college. I hated playing against the girl. I'm
(29:28):
playing when in the post and big girl boom bowed
me in my mouth, bus my lit.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
I'm like, man, what like this don't happen in the men.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Because they play play physical. They just have to play
below the rim is physical. But now we're starting to
pay attention to it, and we're saying like, wait, no
you can't.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
Because of all the attention that women's basketball is getting.
Now now we're seeing in the NBA all the time. Yeah,
speaking to the NBC guys fighting the NBA speaking of it.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
We start to see it in the w A. What's
wrong with it? That's that's that's that's competitive spirit.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
I love it when you go over a board, you
do some stuff that's not uncofed for cool.
Speaker 6 (29:59):
But we see that all the Back in the day,
it was way worse.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Well before we tell you to play on.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
Okay, they was hand checking back in the day.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
All right, hey, before you go, who you got winning
the NBA Finals? The maps of the Boston Celtics.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
Oh my gosh, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Come on now, and in how many games.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
It's I think, I think and I pray for a
six game series. I think Boston has the better team. Okay,
I really do.
Speaker 8 (30:26):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
I think what Kyrie and and uh Luca are doing fantastic.
My only question and they're hot, they're playing on the
high right now. My only question is who is going
to be that third guy to help them? Because let's think,
let's think about.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
What he he He don't have to he's been he's
been helping him a lot with the threes by spacing
out the been having bad games again.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
Wait wait, wait, sit again. No, no I'm saying, I'm
just I'm just this is me talking as a bat.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
And I feel like he's been spacing out the floor.
He's been able to, you know, get open shots, which
is how because of Kyrie and Luker.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
Correct. Okay, So if I'm I look at Boston, I've
heard of people say they don't have I think they
have four defenders that can guard those two guys and
they can rotate them and as White back to Yeah,
but still even those four guys. What I'm saying defensively,
when guys are when when Lucas having a having his
(31:30):
way against Drew Holliday, well we're gonna switch the matchup.
We're gonna put Jaylen Brown if he's out quickening him,
We're gonna put Tatum. We can just rotate and yeah,
he may get the best of one. But as a superstar,
you don't want to give a superstar player the same
look all the time. If you give me the same
look all the time, I guess what I'm doing you eating,
I'm destroying your ass. But if you continue to give
me different looks and frustrating. We've seen last series Minnesota.
(31:53):
Finally they started double teaming Luca and and Kyrie and
making PJ. Washington lively, but making those guys be the
decision makers. Yeah, making James uh Jones Junior be the shooter. Yeah,
they've hitting shots. Cool, but are you used to that position?
(32:15):
Now you're you're being the playmaker, Now you're being the
primary scorer. Yeah, I know you can do it, but
like if you go through Onto and doing the entire
season lead your team. So that's what you you have
to decide. I think Boston has that ability. At the
same time, you're gonna be like, wait, wait, wait, what
Boston is gonna show up? That's my point.
Speaker 5 (32:33):
I think Boston is gonna show because Boston has had
time to rest.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
Keep that in mind, what Boston's gonna show up? As
far as settling, like, I just like, if Jason Tatum
is an attack mode, they're gonna win. They're gonna win
because it opens everything else, right, and he doesn't have
to guard the best player.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
He does not because other three guys can do it.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
Yeah, but if he's not going, he has Jayalen Brown, right,
and then Drew Holliday just can do whatever whenever, whenever
you need me. And there I hear ingus. Zingus presents
the problem because he's a stretch five.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
I don't believe in him. I don't like him, but
I believe him.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
But listen to me. He's a stretch five. So when
you put him in pick and roll and he pops,
who's in the paint? Your shot blockers are?
Speaker 5 (33:15):
I got you?
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Yeah? And then now on on defense, they can switch.
They don't have to be back in sit Mo. They
can switch. He might get cooked on there, but you
don't have to sit back all the time where Luca
Kyrie gets to pull up like, don't get me started,
Like that's you're great all day.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
You just gonna come on our show.
Speaker 4 (33:35):
Do you live in Atlanta or I live in Florida.
Speaker 6 (33:38):
See, we got to go to Florida now.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
I mean, I'm back and forth here.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
You tell us who we need to talk to.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I want you to come get that on TV and
do the announcing because you're a great.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
I just like to enlighten people like I played the game.
I like to be a coach. I'd rather be a
coach like this. People something to think about that you
go back and watch TV instead of being the coach,
because to the coach, the loyalty, the loyalty to the
coach right now is just winning. Coaches are getting fired
and that's just crazy to me. I just I don't know.
(34:09):
I mean, okay, what what did him do wrong?
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Nothing?
Speaker 4 (34:13):
He didn't win, didn't he didn't do nothing? Role, come on,
come on, give me because I'm about to give you
the other side.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
Well, the reason why I say that is because of
the simple fact that they got to where the Lakers
have been getting with egos to he made do with
what he was given exactly. He's not picking the player.
He's not the GM, so he can't say the GM,
I need this person, this person at this bron the G.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
But he got them into the playoffs? What did he
do last year?
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Got him get into the college finals? And he's fired
the facts.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
He's fired now enough that wasn't enough.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
But I think I think the players have come back.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
I think the players got too much power now. I
think the players are making so much money that they
can say, hey, this coach is making way less than
i'm making, get rid of me.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
I think I'll say this. I think it's more in that.
I just think you know, now in the sensitive generation,
when you coach, you too hard to yell at your
coach and hard they're like, nah, man, hey, b you're
doing that. I'm me, I'm I'm making fifty year. If
you're an organization, guess what you say, Is it easier
to get rid of a coach or a player?
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (35:19):
And you're dealing with to replace the coach and the player,
because yeah, so that's just how it works out.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
We appreciate you.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
Man it all day.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
No, we got to do a show for we gotta
get management info.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
I got a lot of good stuff. I just like
to enlighten people, like I said, just to give people
something to think about it for your discussion. I know
you people have leave comments all the time. That's what
that's why I enjoy doing. To give you something to
think about. And you're welcome to have your comments. I
just want you to think about facts how I see.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
It or we see it on the other side, and
just see, like shout out to your legendary, your legendary
sneaker line the shocks because those because of you.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
Man, we got the legend. Vince Carter right here on
the blah blah blah show.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Won't have ball or what type of robbing said us up?
Got a nice little you know what I'm saying, robbing.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Out here looking dapper.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Yeah, Robbin is golfing what she had said she was
coming back like ten minutes ago. She ain't made it.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
You look like you about to start golfing out there too.
Funny moment.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Funny moment. It started raining and I told BT, I said,
give it about ten minutes. All the ladies are gonna
come back real fast on their golf carts. And it
was about seven and a half minutes and.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
They was in single found. Everybody car pulled up in
single foul line and Robbers said, look, didn't I tell you?
I said, you was not lying? Okay, what's how big Zach?
Local green, local green? What's up?
Speaker 6 (36:31):
Listen, that's why my hair is like this.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
It just you ran about it. As soon as soon
as it started drizzling, you ran inside.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
But you know what you called it, because it's like
as soon as you felt the first drop, you said,
it's about the right and then it just started pouring
down rain and then I had to grab the chairs
like incredible hawk. You know, I've been in the gym,
so you know.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Fashion over, bro, fashion over.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Oh yeah yeah yeahsion over getting me right for the summer.
Yeah yeah, you know, I forgot to put my sun's
screen on so I might good might get a little
dark out here. Yeah, ain't talking about the son.
Speaker 6 (37:03):
We got sorbet as well.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
They fixing it up over there one time for the
ball or kuak here. You know, we're on the golf course,
so the knees is out and were looking cool. Mister
Pancho from Breakfast at Parties is here. Yeah, we had
to beg them to do this interview.
Speaker 12 (37:17):
Yeah, because y'all know the same what I do. But
this is Pancho aka Barney of Breakfast at Barney.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Now you have one of the best places to go
get brunch in the city of Atlanta.
Speaker 12 (37:30):
Man, I just put it into work, you know. That's
how we became the best because I put into work
and I've been putting in the work in Atlanta since
five Are you from Atlanta? No, I'm from outside of Savannah, Georgia.
I'm a real life country.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
Boy country boy.
Speaker 12 (37:44):
Yeah, straight out of Glenville, Georgia. It's about forty minutes
outside of Savannah, Georgia.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
So's I watch Food So Good?
Speaker 12 (37:51):
Absolutely because, but also because I started traveling at a
young age.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
So my palette is a little different.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
You do have a nice palette.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
What you were saying, what brought you to the restaurant business?
Speaker 12 (38:03):
Because I used to be in the club promotion game
and it's not creative enough for me. So I wanted
to create my own lane again. So I ventured into
the hospitality space. Even though the club game is hospitality.
But I'm older now, I got kids, and I wanted
(38:24):
to create something where my parents and my kids can
come enjoy.
Speaker 5 (38:29):
Now, what would you say the best spot? I mean, well,
the best food to try breakfast at PORNI I think
it's the catfish and spaghetti. What do you think?
Speaker 12 (38:37):
Definitely the catfish and spaghetti. And let's be clear, French
nobody had the catfish and spaghetti on their menu breakfast part.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
This is a fact.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
This is a fact.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
They they didn't even know it could go together. Facts,
you know. But don't forget my twenty four Carrigo pancakes cakes.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Crazy big, Yeah there edible, too big, but so you.
Speaker 12 (39:03):
Can, but so you could take them home, okay and
enjoy them later, because all you gotta do is slap
them in the oven, warm them up, and you good
to go.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Okay, you done got comfortable with us?
Speaker 6 (39:14):
Man, Keep going no real quick that it's a vibe
at your restaurant. And did you expect it to be
so popular so fast? Because that's like an Atlanta staple,
Atlanta fan favorite.
Speaker 12 (39:28):
Well, I'll say this, I didn't know what was gonna
be big as it is, but I knew it was
gonna be big because God gave me the vision and
create it.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
Yeah, you have all the celebrities come there. You know what,
I just sent somebody to your restaurant maybe about a
couple of weeks ago. That was like, what's the breast
breakfast spot to take my mom to? I said, you
gotta go to breakfast Barnies.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Are we gonna get another location eventually, you know, like
I in Georgia right now, but you know, you know eventually,
And simply because this is my first restaurant ever.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
I've never worked in the restaurant space a day in
my life.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Wow.
Speaker 12 (40:05):
So I'm learning as I go. So I gotta take
my time because I can't mess this up.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
This for us.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
I want to also say it's great customer service every time.
Y'all have never had a problem there. And I waited,
like you gotta wait because it's it's gonna taste good,
the food's gonna taste good, the vibe is good and
is nice.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
The music is great.
Speaker 12 (40:27):
Honestly, customer service was one of the main focuses I
wanted to pinpoint because I wanted to change the narrative
of black restaurant.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Talk about it, talk about it, there yet, Nah, because
that should be on the list.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
Mister, Hey, you're gonna come through.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
I like how you talk about customer service because we
just had a topic about this maybe a couple of months.
A couple of months ago, we were talking about how
the customer service in Atlanta is so terrible and the
food is so expensive. Make it make sense.
Speaker 12 (41:02):
I can't talk about nobody else, but I know when
I want. When I came into the industry, I wanted
to give you a great product with great service.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
So you do. For sure.
Speaker 12 (41:11):
We spend a lot of time in training our staff.
My staff goes through training quarterly, you know, because it's important.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
Okay, Well, we appreciate you.
Speaker 6 (41:21):
Sir, Yeah, we appreciate you. We got to broadcast live
one day from breakfast at Bart's.
Speaker 12 (41:25):
Figure out you ain't got to be on camera next time,
but y'all got to come experience it in the rich
Life room.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
Can Can we talk about the rich Life roo room?
Speaker 12 (41:35):
Cour rich life room is because I come from the
club industry, and I know certain players don't want to
wait in line.
Speaker 5 (41:42):
You talking about that backroom.
Speaker 4 (41:43):

Speaker 4 (43:14):

Speaker 10 (43:14):
I really love lemonade, and my dad wanted me to
start a business, so that's what happened.
Speaker 8 (43:21):
I just want to start a elimonade business.
Speaker 6 (43:22):
Okay, So what have you learned about the lemonade business
so far? It's a lot.
Speaker 10 (43:27):
It's a lot of things like don't give up on stuff.
Sometimes it will be like hard, like it would be long,
but you still don't want to give up.
Speaker 5 (43:35):
Okay, So what do you What do your friends think
about your your lemonade business?
Speaker 8 (43:40):
They think it's cool.
Speaker 10 (43:41):
Sometimes they ask their parents for money to also buy.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
Okay, now is there a website? How can we purchase lemonade.
If they're just seeing this for the first time.

Speaker 6 (44:52):
I don't know why I wore black today, But you

Speaker 2 (46:07):
Man, how you doing today?
Speaker 5 (46:08):
First I'm doing?
Speaker 2 (46:09):
Do you golf?
Speaker 5 (46:09):
I do?
Speaker 8 (46:10):
Go?
Speaker 4 (46:10):
Okay, so what was your We was eight under today?
Speaker 2 (46:13):
Okay, eight under?
Speaker 1 (46:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (46:14):
And I heard I heard eight under was actually damn
that's pretty damn good.
Speaker 5 (46:16):
That's pretty good. Man schools on what that is because as.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Eighteen holes par seventy two. So in golf, subtraction is
better than the addition.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Okay, So so you want to be under?
Speaker 1 (46:27):
You want to be under?
Speaker 5 (46:28):
What marve do?
Speaker 1 (46:29):
He was behind us?
Speaker 3 (46:30):
I didn't see him, but I came hit a couple
of shots. We had a young kid ten years old
named Kemden guiding on our team, and dude is amazing.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
He's pro.
Speaker 4 (46:38):
I heard, Oh man, he's incredible.
Speaker 1 (46:40):
He's incredible. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (46:41):
We're just trying to school the culture a little bit
on golf, because you know, we don't really like, oh okay,
really good turn.
Speaker 5 (46:47):
Us should but it should.
Speaker 3 (46:49):
I mean, you know, it's a lot of money out there,
a lot of deals being made, a lot of conversations,
a lot of intelligence just where people come to get
it done.
Speaker 5 (46:57):
You dressed like you play, now, that's so much justification.
Speaker 6 (47:01):
I do play sometimes I'm trying to learn you just
for that case, thank you.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
Yeah, not so much, y'all.
Speaker 2 (47:06):
But I mean comfortable as comfortable as fletes on them ones.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
And you.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
Now how important it is for your mental health to
test the waters of golf.
Speaker 8 (47:18):
Man.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
So I don't know if it will help you, it'll
drive you crazy. I mean really, it'll do both. Like seriously, man,
Like you get out here. You know you need the
vitamin D, right, so you get outside, you get fresh air.
So it's good on that respect. If you take it
too serious, it's more stressful.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
It is helpful.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
So none of us are prosed. It's what we do
for a living, and so we win at the game
that we play and then we come out here and
do this for recreation.
Speaker 5 (47:43):
Yeah. So golf is also I don't want to sound crazy,
so it's not a team sport.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
It depends.
Speaker 3 (47:50):
You know, the Ryder Cup.
Speaker 4 (47:51):
So you got the United States versus h.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
Versus.
Speaker 6 (47:56):
We have no idea what we're talking about. So and
you know, a lot of community, especially the younger folks,
they don't know. So can you just break us down school.
Speaker 3 (48:04):
When you're out there, it looks like it's an individual sport,
but in order to be good at golf, you got
to have a team. Come here real quick, this a
little this is a little pro right here on pro?
Yeah yeah, come here, just a little this this He
was on my team. He was on my team. This
is my guy right right there. Tell him what your
name is?
Speaker 11 (48:21):
Man?
Speaker 1 (48:24):
Yeah, he's.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
What was your score today?
Speaker 8 (48:29):
I think we shout eight under?
Speaker 4 (48:31):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (48:31):
So you you said weed? So this is the wee
that you talk about.
Speaker 5 (48:35):
Now.
Speaker 6 (48:36):
I heard Steve Harvey was making fun of you earlier.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
One handicap probably Wow.
Speaker 7 (48:44):
I'm going to tell you something that might be a
little shocking to you right now, but I'll be a
real daddy.
Speaker 5 (48:52):
What do you think about that?
Speaker 8 (48:54):
It shook me a little bit. I agree with you though, okay?
Speaker 2 (48:59):
And you're ten, yes sir.
Speaker 8 (49:03):
In September.
Speaker 2 (49:04):
Man, you're very wise and well spoken for a ten
year old.
Speaker 8 (49:07):
My man, Thank you?
Speaker 6 (49:08):
And when did you start playing golf?
Speaker 8 (49:10):
Five?
Speaker 1 (49:11):
At five?
Speaker 6 (49:13):
He's gonna be taking over here.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
So you what what made you say I want to
play golf?
Speaker 8 (49:19):
It was I picked up clubs at first?
Speaker 2 (49:22):
Was it a bat? And you just was swinging it down?
And instead of up.
Speaker 8 (49:26):
Somebody clubs I think and I swung it, and from
there on I just fell in love with the game.
Speaker 5 (49:34):
Now, did your parents start molding you into all playing
golf as well?
Speaker 8 (49:38):
Uh huh, well not really, No, it wasn't. It wasn't really.
My dad put it in high school, but it wasn't him.
Speaker 5 (49:46):
So this was just a sport that you just decided.
That's so cool.
Speaker 4 (49:49):
I do got a gift.
Speaker 2 (49:50):
Man, you look real smooth, my brother. You got the
whole you know what I'm saying. You got the under
armor belt. You know what I'm saying. Where did you
get this shirt from?
Speaker 8 (49:56):
This is Grayson, this is too, and then the shure
is it looked.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
Like a real golf player. Man, We appreciate you guys.
Speaker 1 (50:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (50:05):
Yeah, don't forget about us either.
Speaker 6 (50:06):
Man, when you start when did you start golfing?
Speaker 5 (50:08):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (50:09):
Wednesday?
Speaker 4 (50:10):
Oh, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 5 (50:11):
I was like, I was like, now, now, I started.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Playing about four years ago. I played a little bit
in college, but start taking it.
Speaker 1 (50:17):
Here's about four years ago.
Speaker 6 (50:19):
Okay, okay, okay, Well we're happy to see you out here.
Did you stay during the rain? How did that go?
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Because I know it poor, it poor, So we went
under the tent, okay and stayed under there for about
thirty forty minutes.
Speaker 6 (50:31):
BT was convinced that y'all were just golfing in the rain.
Speaker 5 (50:34):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought y'all golf.
Speaker 8 (50:37):
In the rain.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
I mean you can, but it's hard.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
It's hard.
Speaker 5 (50:40):
Yeah. I was convinced.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
I said, man, they out there still golf and they're crazy,
Nona because we ain't see y'all come back.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
And all the ladies came back.
Speaker 3 (50:46):
The ladies was that they ain't want their hair.
Speaker 6 (50:47):
Mass immediately, I don't want Yeah.
Speaker 8 (50:50):
It was uh, they were like my hair goes looked
like Foster that it was.
Speaker 6 (51:00):
It was fun.
Speaker 8 (51:01):
The whole thing was fun. I just really really good
props to mister Steve for putting this whole thing.
Speaker 5 (51:08):
Guy, any of your friends played golf?
Speaker 8 (51:12):
I bet I have golf friends, but none of my
friends of school plays off like in what the fifth grade?
Speaker 6 (51:20):
Okay, sixth grade? Okay? Are you going to sixth grade?
Speaker 4 (51:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (51:24):
Okay, Wow, give him some shout outs.
Speaker 8 (51:26):
For you, though, pastor, mister Steve Harvey, and yeah.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
You better shout out mama and dad, Oh.
Speaker 8 (51:37):
Mom, dad, yes, my dad is my dad is mister
Steve though?
Speaker 2 (51:44):
My bad, my bad, my dad, my dad, my bad.
Speaker 5 (51:51):
Right, Well, I think you would be paying Steve back
when you get older, because you definitely got some skills
from what we're hearing about. So huh, you know made
the best of look and a success and we can't
wait for you to sit back and watch this video
ten years from now when you pro but just you know,
remember the little people.
Speaker 6 (52:09):
All right, thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
We appreciate both of you, guys, I appreciate you.
Speaker 8 (52:12):
Alert.
Speaker 11 (52:13):
We'll be right back. Stay tuned with more of the
Baller Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of
The Baller Alert Show.
Speaker 6 (52:22):
Hey, guys, is Edge Moore. Tina's right here on the
Baller Alert Show. Got the legend in the buildine Hello
God golfer Robers said, listen, Andie's gonna finish everything.
Speaker 8 (52:33):
I'm gonna lie.
Speaker 6 (52:34):
I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 14 (52:35):
I'm a very humble golfer because everybody should be humble golf.
Speaker 6 (52:38):
Because it's a brutal score. Say today, I kind of
got busy out there. I'm not gonna well, it was
a team score, so it's not it's we're playing basketball.
Speaker 14 (52:47):
I don't know when somebody else was keeping it, but
we got about eight birdies out there today, like real birdies.
Speaker 2 (52:52):
Like so I'm hearing the more negative because I don't
really understand golf all the way one. The more negative the.
Speaker 6 (52:57):
Better, definitely. Now, when did you time to get to
the to the hole?
Speaker 14 (53:01):
Less time, less strokes, less strokes it takes you to
get into the packet, the better the score.
Speaker 6 (53:07):
It be easy. We need a quick breakdown for the
culture because you know, we don't really golf like that.
Here here it is for the culture. Right, every hole
has a par that means you have that many strokes
to put it in the hole.
Speaker 14 (53:17):
So it's a par five. You got five times to stroke.
If you go one under, that's a birdie, one over
is a bogie. But if you make pars straight all
the way through, that's a perfect game. It's called scratch golf.
And you don't need any overstrikes or any understrikes.
Speaker 6 (53:32):
Is that clear? Yes? No, Tiger Woods is better than that,
better than scratch. He's under whatever the par is. So
if they say this hole takes three strokes to get
it in, Tiger's probably gonna do it in one or two.
When did you start golfing? I started about two years ago.
You're this advanced.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
You sound like a pro.
Speaker 14 (53:49):
You know why because I'm a junkie. Because I'm like
a golf junkie. Because now I just caught the bug.
Speaker 6 (53:54):
I just I love it. I wish I would start
made you catch the back. One of my girlfriends was like,
play with us. We got.
Speaker 5 (54:01):
I was like, golf.
Speaker 6 (54:02):
You would ask me this, golf, golf, What are you crazy?
But she was like, no, nobody's good.
Speaker 5 (54:08):
Don't worry.
Speaker 14 (54:08):
We're gonna we're gonna drive the car. We're gonna we're
gonna drink and play music. It's gonna be great. I
was like, all right, dope, let's go whatever.
Speaker 5 (54:14):
I like.
Speaker 14 (54:15):
You sound fun, it sounds fun, and it was fun.
I was terrible, and then I took a couple lessons.
Still terrible. I think just now I'm starting to like
find the pocket.
Speaker 6 (54:23):
That's consistent.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
Yeah, talks about you all the time, but you guys
are golf buddies.
Speaker 6 (54:26):
Yes, it's a great It's like, you know, some people
like meditation. They like different things. I think that's what
like golf. I call golf like walking meditation.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
Like that's what I asked. Does it do something for
your mental health? Does it make you it does you know?
Speaker 14 (54:40):
For me, it's like the one thing that I do
where I'm not multitasking, you know how that everybody says
you should be in the moment, be present. That's what
people do when they meditate. That's what people do when
they have a skill or something that they like focus on.
For me, golf, I don't take any zooms, no calls.
I don't do Some people do business. I don't do business.
I do my golf and then I get to work after.
So it's like, you know, it's like a little bit
(55:01):
of like a meditative type of thing, and it's hard,
so there's always something to work on.
Speaker 6 (55:06):
Expensive it's so hard.
Speaker 14 (55:08):
It doesn't have to be expensive. There's plenty of public
that's a misconception. That's why a lot of us don't golf,
because I think we can't afford it. You can't afford it,
I mean, listen, if you're buying the expensive clubs, of course,
but there are secondhand clubs you could buy.
Speaker 6 (55:19):
That are what I did.
Speaker 14 (55:20):
When I first started. I didn't I rented clubs. Why
I bought a secondhand because I didn't know the game enough.
Then I went and invested in a set of clubs
but you could play the public course for I've played
in Compton, I've played in the Bronx.
Speaker 6 (55:32):
I've played in courses. Yes, in the Bronx, and.
Speaker 14 (55:36):
You could play for I don't know. I don't want
to say a wrong price, but it's not more than
forty dollars.
Speaker 6 (55:40):
It's see there.
Speaker 5 (55:40):
But there are public places that you can play.
Speaker 6 (55:42):
There's plenty of affordable In most cities, there's public places
that are affordable. Quickly. What are some of the benefits
to golf, Well, I think it's different for everybody.
Speaker 14 (55:52):
I think some people like it. Some people say they
do a lot of business and things like that. I
never do business on the golf course, even though I
have met a lot of interesting people. You might go
off with somebody you never thought you would hang out.
What am I doing with this course?
Speaker 6 (56:04):
You both have a love for the sport. But I
think so. Some people say it's good for connection, connecting
and business and things like that. For me, like I said,
it's you know, it's just something to focus. It's like,
I don't know how to explain it. It's like a
meditation almost in a weird way. Do you ever do
you ever see yourself throwing a tournament in the future.
Speaker 14 (56:23):
I don't think I would want to throw a tournament,
but who's I would never say never. I might in
collaboration if that. If it meant something good.
Speaker 6 (56:29):
For barbecue, I know you do that?
Speaker 2 (56:32):
Do that?
Speaker 6 (56:32):
We Actually we're gonn announce this week. I'll tell you
that early. Okay, We're about to announce this week New York. Yeah,
I do it.
Speaker 14 (56:38):
Annual barbecue. It's a good time. If you're in New York,
you should come out. Okay, But and I'm announcing this week.
All the information the day and stuff. Actually so but yeah,
who knows, who knows? But for right now I enjoy it.
Steve Harvey Tournament.
Speaker 6 (56:50):
I just came back from Pebble Beach.
Speaker 14 (56:51):
I had a Kith Kith did a big tournament out there,
which was amazing.
Speaker 6 (56:55):
And then call it's is next week you're gonna do that?
Speaker 11 (56:58):
I am.
Speaker 6 (56:59):
I'm like on tour this much.
Speaker 14 (57:02):
So you get invited to these things, Martinez to I'm
gonna make like jackets and mergers.
Speaker 2 (57:05):
Wait wait, let me ask your questions someone like if
your stature get an invitation, these invite only.
Speaker 14 (57:12):
Well and some of them I get invited to or
sometimes like this like baller Alert had a had to
force them today, so they invited me to play with
baller Alert. So sometimes the organization might I'm time for
ball Alert. I'm I'm playing with Robin and baller Alert today.
Sometimes it'll be like like Khalid's call and invited me
to his and then the Kith thing, the Kith team
(57:33):
invited me, which they had an amazing collaboration.
Speaker 2 (57:35):
You fly yourself or like things provide.
Speaker 14 (57:38):
Everyone is different every every system, especially if it's charity.
If it's charity, they all kind of Sometimes they might
have a sponsor that might be bringing people out. Sometimes
you just want to be there to support, so you
fly yourself out. It's different every time.
Speaker 5 (57:50):
So what are you enjoying more of these days? Golfing
or radio?
Speaker 6 (57:54):
Sto dif for skills radio I could do my eyes closed?
Can I golf still really hard for me?
Speaker 8 (58:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (58:01):
I feel like you are one of the greatest radio
personalities of all time.
Speaker 12 (58:06):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
But do you see any younger radio personalities coming up
in the game, because I don't really see a lot
of radio personality people say I want to be on
the radio. I see a lot of influencers and media.
Speaker 14 (58:20):
Yeah, Yeah, it's not like when we came up, everybody
wanted to be on the radio. Yeah, because radio is
I think radio hasn't done the best job at shifting
cultivat next generation of talent, I mean across the board,
across the country, I think, but there are some, there
is talent out there.
Speaker 6 (58:40):
I'm surrounded by talent. I have iver Vera, I have
Young Yeah, Nila Simone. You know, Gabe Nyc came, he
was my intern. He now he does on the radar,
you know. So I think there is talent.
Speaker 14 (58:58):
It's just, you know, we just need a kick for
to shift a little bit, and I think hopefully we'll
see that in the next couple of years, you know.
I mean, there's definitely people out there that can do
the work. And when you think about radio, it's not
just radio. It's not like what it used to be.
Radio used to be the only thing. So if you're
on the radio, you have the ears of everybody because
that was the only place you could go. It was
like the social media of the of the you know,
(59:18):
of the culture. But now there's so many places. So
even if you want to be on radio and you
want to be a radio star, let's just say you
can't just do radio.
Speaker 6 (59:26):
I'm just do radio.
Speaker 14 (59:26):
I got a podcast, and I got books coming I
got I just did a book. You know, I had
a book I did. I'm working on scripts now I'm
golfing at ball Alert. But it all started with it
starts with it. But also you have you know, I
have a social media platform that I take seriously. You know,
you have to everybody has to be there, has to
be hyphens Now there's too much, everything is fragmented a
(59:49):
little too much to just be on one thing.
Speaker 6 (59:51):
But you have done a great job in reinventing yourself,
especially in today's time.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Yeah, that's not easy.
Speaker 6 (59:56):
Yeah, yeah, you're right. How does uh, I know you're
on the every day. How does that work with your
schedule what you're doing all these things? Yeah, it it's good.
Speaker 14 (01:00:05):
I have a super supportive shout out to the team
at probably one five one. It's super supportive of you know,
I've always been really lucky like that that they understood
that I have.
Speaker 6 (01:00:14):
A brand and a and a career even outside of
what I do on the radio. Radio is a home
base and it's still there and it's amazing, and I
you know, and I show.
Speaker 14 (01:00:22):
Up and I deliver, but they're very supportive of Hey,
I gotta do this, I gotta do that, because it's
a win for everybody. It's it's like I told you,
you can't. Nobody could be successful in radio and not
be doing more than one thing on the radio right now.
Speaker 6 (01:00:34):
Not today. I took this week off because I'm on
tour and I'm on golf tour.
Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
I told you golf Tour.
Speaker 6 (01:00:40):
I'm on the Golf Tour Beach and I'm doing yeah,
and I'm talking to three shout out to thee and
we love you. So yes you're saying sorry, No, I was.
Speaker 5 (01:00:51):
Just saying that it's really hard to find radio stations
that will support the talent and what they do outside.
Speaker 14 (01:00:56):
By the way, shame on the program directors across the
country that not support their talent and support their talent
being as big as they possibly can be. I never
understand I never understand people who run radio stations that
I get it, you pay talent a certain to do
a certain thing, but you should want anybody who is
affiliated with you to operate at the highest level that
(01:01:17):
they could possibly operate and lifts them up and it
lifts your brand up. I don't understand that from from programmers.
So if you have a programming like that, you may
want to sit them down and have a real one with.
Speaker 6 (01:01:28):
Okay, what's the future. I'm just gonna ask this last question,
what's the future for radio? You know, you got so
many streaming platforms and everything seems stream nowadays, Like, I mean,
how does it? How does radio fit?
Speaker 14 (01:01:40):
I mean, I think, like you know, I think everything
has to shift. I think radio has to shift at
some point. I think podcasts have to shift. I think
social media platforms have to influencers have to shift. I
think we are constantly evolving, constantly shifting, and I think, yeah,
we always have to do that. But you know, radio
is still a very viable platform that serve a lot
of people, employs a lot of people, helps a lot
(01:02:03):
of people, and it's still there and it still very
active and so and I'm fortunate enough to be, you know,
in New York with Breakfast Club and Angelouye, and you
know what I'm saying, We we we we have powerful
people that understand that who are powerful on the radio,
but also understand that there are brands outside of what
they do on the air.
Speaker 6 (01:02:23):
And it's and it serves everybody. I think, legend. We
appreciate you taking the time. You've been sitting out here
in this heat all day. It looks so pretty. I'm
sweating perfect golf balls. That's true. I did do at holes.
I did a hole that just finished, champion, and I'm
thinking happy to meet you and a proud of you.
(01:02:44):
Thank thank you, proud of you too. You guys are great.
Speaker 5 (01:02:47):

Speaker 6 (01:03:28):

Speaker 5 (01:03:30):

know how good I'm gonna be, you know, trash in
