Speaker 5 (05:41):
Well I hope I'm glad to fly that brought you flowers.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Well, you know, so, he said, I hooked those there
for above ground.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah, exactly, that's exactly what I say.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah, but they're so nice.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
Yeah, well, you know what he's like when he gets
around a couple of those nurses. How tolerable.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Well, i'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
People a lot of attention to nurses. He said that
one of.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Them, you know, I mean, yeah, yeah, I really had
to say really wonderful words about uh Baptist healthy used,
he said, a Baptist. It's hard for me that they
center Baptist.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
But the chief, I guess he's chief cardiologists. I had
gone to him before I had an irregular heartbeat years ago,
the days after I was almost That was the day
you married Ursul, So that was understanding. Was that a
regular Yeah, that was the irregular one. Well, I'll tell
(06:40):
you what. We got married and missed the Derby that day,
you knew the marriage would work out. Then what well,
if you missed the derby to get married.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
It doesn't it doesn't count.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
No, No, if you missed the derby, it meant he
really meant to lock him to get married. Oh well, okay,
that would lay in myself astream for this.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
I know it. But anyway, doctor Oslam is besides being
a genius. I mean, they were going to go in.
He had a couple of places, you know, and arteries
and stuff. And if you're over fifty, no, yeah, I
think I said you can't have open heart surgery and
(07:21):
this heart Ursul's would have been eligible for that, and
he couldn't do it. He's too old.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
And doctor Osam said, I think I can do.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
This and it said one stint furst of that?
Speaker 5 (07:35):
Two? Wow, I know?
Speaker 1 (07:38):
And I said, oh, thank you, doctor osm. I prayed
for two stints and he said, thank.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Heavens, you didn't pray for three because.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
This was.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
So But what do for God?
Speaker 1 (07:50):
We're lucky we got somebody like that, I mean, And
he walked into his room after it was all over,
you know.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
I mean we all collapsed, Yes.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yes, super duper guy and you know, you're indebted to
people like that. That's and that's a wonderful hospital too,
really cute nurses. It's great for you know, male patience
keeps their spirits up.
Speaker 5 (08:17):
Well yeah that in the bourbon. Yeah, yeah, spirit.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
It's gonna be a good holiday. So anyway, I just
wanted to mention that because what a fantastic job did
So what do you.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
So I'm gonna say one more thing about the bottle,
so if people want to buy it, it's for sale.
And the gift shop we're actually licensed to sell oilhol
How you are. I'm telling you this, John is fabulous.
You're getting all this stuff done that we could never
get done in yours. I've tried to get these bottles
made for a decade, trying to convince somebody to put
out old friend's bottles. And he gets together, you got
(08:51):
a license, and he hicker, yes, my, but you have to.
They won't let you have it for free, and you
can't steal it. You have to like pay for it
for got that much pay for the bourbon.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Yeah, Listen, I can remember when liquor licenses for like
eighty five thousand dollars years ago. Yes, surry Bob. They
were hard to get too.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah, you were just bootleggers, lived it right now exactly.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Trying to think of that old lady in Harlan that.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Was a bootlegger.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
Well, these bottles are beautiful and it has a career
highlights of silver Darmas Hall of Fame stuff and they
would graciously want.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
And how's he doing?
Speaker 5 (09:32):
He's just crazy, some believe all I got a few
months ago, so did John and Soda Antonio that you know,
we're counting down and uh, because he wasn't eating well
and his eyes were a little you know, yeah, droopy.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
And well, you know it was it was a goofy summer.
It was too hot, too hot first, just hate it
when it's that hot of stuff.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
Stopped eating kind of you know. But now with the
grass coming back up, he's great and he's gained weight.
We had all kinds of people on tours yesterday that
were thrilled to see him and along with a lot
of the other horses. You know, it was really really nice. Yeah,
yesterday was great. We were mobbed with people, Yes, wonderful.
You know if you and kind of Kinglin leocked out
(10:17):
on the weather now horrible all that got on other
things too. I went to the chapel, I went to
Kingland and there's a woman, a trainer named Lindsay Schultz. Okay,
she trains some horses from Breton Jones. Oh okay, for
Brett and that's how I know her. And she had
(10:38):
two horses in the other day, and nobody paid any
attention to her horses because you know, yeah, my god,
he's Lindsay Schultz. And she's up against Chad Brown and
Todd Fletcher and I you know, Kenny mcgath and all
the rest of them, and uh and they both went
off at really good odds and both of them on
Oh yeah, for her, she's the one that trains the
horse named after you know Diane's proclamation.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Oh yeah, what is that again?
Speaker 5 (11:03):
Don't come looking? Don't come looking what Diane said when
she looked at she's she said, I'll go with the
only one to condition that you know, when I leave you,
you won't come looking. So yeah, that's a one or
she has don't come looking.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
I'm gonna write that down because I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
The exact phrase.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
That's wonderful. Now, how long will will your tours go?
Up to Thanksgiving.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
I'm not sure exactly. I got one today. In fact,
they have to leave a little on the early side
because they're coming to nine o'clock. I had a nice
one yesterday, had seventeen people on my little tour. And
then there was the buses bus from uh bus from Ohio.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
And John is still coming up there with the bus.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah he's working, So he's working.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
So I don't know, he's working something out with John. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
just as the people are going. Just really like the
like all we have such great tour guides now, you know,
really good tour guys, and and people really like to
come and they come back. The guy came yesterday on
my tour. Who is this fourth time on a tour
(12:14):
in the last couple of years. He comes from the
state New York, No kid, I love that any other
interesting place.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
A lot of people getting out of New York this
day these days. Yeah, that's getting a little called up
there now upstates they're different too.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
But I love Manhattan.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
You don't like Manhattan ors, you know. Then I was
in New York one time in my lifetime, and when
I went to work for the daily rationing form, they
flew me up there. Uh, I wanted to look at
him and look them over before I go to work
for him. I would pick it at the time.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
Oh my god, I don't blame you with your talent.
I just to tell you kind of jump into anything,
to tell you the truth. When I had a advertising agency,
that partnership, and you know, our partnerships.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Are like marriages. Either they work or they don't. Yeah,
we were very successful. But I quit and I didn't
know what I was going to do or anything. And
they called me from New York. They were looking for
somebody that worked at the at the the Daily Racing form.
Out of came Officer Keenan the Kentucky Bureau. And I
(13:28):
turned them down the first time, and then they called
me back and flew me up there and asked them
for the pretty good money and what I thought at
the time, and I worked for him for fifteen years.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Yeah nice, Yeah, no, I like it. I'm now now.
Last time I was in New York, I was sixty
years ago or something. Yeah, and it was great. It's
cards there now they oh I didn't know that play.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Yeah they have cars there now. Cars sixty years ago,
I wasn't sure it.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Was Yeah, now we I had a friend and his
sister were friends and they lived on Montalk Point. He said,
you gotta come, you gotta come. I think I took
him up to our camp once or something. Just we
were real good friends, and uh, we want them to
(14:26):
stay at their house. And then we went into Manhattan
a couple of times and it was it was nice.
I mean there was uh and see any crime anything.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
It was just and I was shocked, shocked. I say,
had the price of food, but that than that. I mean,
that was a big deal in those days. Four dollars
and twenty five cents for a sandwich.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
In New York. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 5 (14:52):
It was something I made that pretty expensive and I
don't really miss it a lot, you know, going there.
But uh, but it's fun. It's fun in Long Island's nice.
Montark Points.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
That was somewhere Amityville. The house the house that is
in the movie or something.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
All that house was it was the Psycho Howned house
or something.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Something like that. But we could swam. It was really
Now that was that was a great deal of fun.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
But anyway, Oh, he's getting that look in his eye. Huh,
he's getting to look in his eye. He's got to
do his ads.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Now you're not going to leave, are you?
Speaker 5 (15:36):
No, I'm not. I got to give my loser of
the week, I know. And then I've been picking so
many winners. I'm losing my losing spirit.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
No, why don't you go over to start trying to pick?
Speaker 5 (15:48):
Everybody does that.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah, but that's what I've got my niche market.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Here, a friend of mine said, jump, she was taking
her stoff jellfu Well, So.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
See the sycamore yesterday. It's the sycamore yesterday.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yeah, they ran yesterday.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Yeah, they certainly did. And the horse that won has
a has a connection to old friends that John will
explain next week. But he has a connection to old friends.
He went off at thirty four to one, and I'll
go to cook anyone.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
And I had the trick back there, which was I
try fact, it was very good because the two horses
that ran one two, Randy ran one two in their
previous race. I couldn't understand why John Blaskus gets on
this thirty four to one shot and nobody's betting them.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yeah. See, that was one of the things when I
would try to look at it, I think, what's Mike
Smith doing coming here from California.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
Right right, Yeah, I let the jockeys do a lot
of handicapping for me.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Yeah, I think they know.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
And the top jockeys get their top choices, and you
got to double check and make sure.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
That not only that for crying at all, their experience
for crying out loud.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
There I said that twice. You're talking about intw conspirait yesterday, right,
that won the mistakes out there.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
But that there thing, no, no won of kinglind won, the.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Sycamore won the sycamore. Yeah, I've got it here somewhere.
Movie we'll get We'll get to it somewhere there.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
Then somewhere down the line, down the line, there's a
good name for horse. It is a lot of good
racing today. Oh and this morning at nine o'clock at
the horse Park having the dedication of the Cody's Wish
statue they Jocelyn Russell did and it's absolutely gorgeous. I've
seen spectactics were making the movie.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Then, yeah, that's why about that movie. Somebody called me
about that movie, you know, and I don't even remember
what the call was about.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Paul Hollerin, who's an old New England turf writer, he's
wrote the he's writing the book, he's finishing up the
book on Cody's wish, and he's writing the movie. Oh
good good, there's somebody who knows what they're looking at
when it comes to horse racing.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
So that would be really well.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
Thank god, no more than he's eighteen and a half
hand weird, that's anyway, that's times so crazy if you
understand what's going on.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
That was a Seabiscit movie. Dad War was eighteen hands. Yeah,
I see you. You should You should have heard the
people squealed.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
And you're telling me in the theater it was in
the horse business because oh my god, you are you
going to do that?
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Oh okay, don't let him get away? Well all right,
well I'm not well. He could in stay the top
of the hour, can't you.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
Well, I'm so sit back there by nine o'cive.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Okay, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
I'll give you my thing, really and then you can
get to the business in hand. So in the seventh
race at Keenland today it's an allowance race. Non winners
are one other than the very important distance of a
mile in three sixteenth Okay, pay attention?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Are you paying attention? I'm paying attention.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
That it's hard to him betterble boy. Anyway, there's a
horse here who's twenty to one on the morning line
that Robert Medina has called. His name is Fayette Spirit.
He's a Kitten's joy Y.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Yeah, it's a miles three sixteenth on the turf. He's
the number four horse, Fayette Spirit, written ridden by Christian Torres,
who has not won a race yet at Keenland. But
he's He's had seven months and finished second twice and
third ones and I don't really care. I hope he
doesn't win because I'm only going to play him behind
a few horses. But I think he's got a real
chance to fit in in the money. And he's twenty
(19:55):
to one on the morning line, number four, Fayette Spirit,
who Fan.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Spirit five is kittens joy Gone.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
I plead that now we have his we have one
of his best horses at the partment, Big lukid.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Oh yeah he was. He was a terrific study Altasi
list and then the whole list, you know, Americancy leading Shire.
Then he was the leading grass Shire for four or
five years.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Yeah, I know. We when we got our last set
of cats, we named one of them kitten Kaboodle and
somebody came up with the name for a horse. You know, Yeah,
I heard something kitten kaboodle.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I thought that was kind of well, we call it noodle.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
There's two kittens Joys in this race. Good one that
Steve Asherson has who might make it in there too.
He's got a Jose Ortiz, which is always an important factor,
and he's got a real shot that that kittens Joy
and that it's a funny thing is kittens Joy, who
was of course on by Ken Ramsey. Ken Ramsey's got
the one and it's it's not a kitten droid. So
(21:05):
it's going to seventh race. It's going to be an
exciting race. I think I love the long distance grass races.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
It's an allowance, right, and hell much.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Money one hundred twenty thousand, Holy cow. Yeah, three year
olds and up which have never won a race other
than maiden claiming your starter or which you've never won
two my health and all that money. Yeah, I wonder
how fun they pay back?
Speaker 2 (21:29):
I know, probably cuts off at fifth.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Well.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
The thing I like about my horse, fad Spirit, is
fan Spirit is a gelding who's run twenty two times
and finished in the money ten times. So that's what
we like to see, consistency. We don't care if they
have the winning spirit. I prefer them to have the
losing spirit. But speaking spirits, the silver Charm Old Friends
(21:57):
bourbon is available in our fabulous gif shop and you
can come buy and buy a few bottles. Honestly, I
think they sold out of the first leg of.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
That's wonderful all that. It's really nifty looking and it's
really nice, and we got to thank all the people
at lives purp and and Johnathan's working on all of them. Mine.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
I'm bugging John to do cards like baseball cards. Yeah,
I know, it's a great idea.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
I think you've got more.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
Important things on his plate right now. He's doing some
really important stuff. Oh my racehorse, you know, the my
racehorse people. They're all going to have a party at
the farm. Oh are they really? And they've been buying
these jockeys and it's going to be really really great.
We got to do that show live that morning from Yeah,
that's drag. The patient will have to go out on
a road.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Yeah, I'll come get you. What it was to show
up at Old Friends when we own two of them
I'll come get you. One of them just worked at
half and forty eight and something. He got hurt names
putting in, but he's coming back. And the other one
they're trying to find a home for him.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
You got a bad case of the slothes.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
The first one actually one his first start.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
It was my empire maker, wasn't he.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I think so? Anyway, he paid the purse was like
thirty six thousand or something, and we gave them. Listen,
this is such a good idea for a Christmas present.
We gave one to Patrick and one Toesther, and Patrick said,
you know, I own.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
A couple of hairs on the horse. I should have
earned probably a dollar and a half, and I want
it right now. Well, one of the great things about
my resources is obviously nobody's in it for the money.
They're in it for the fund. And they've really brought
the fun back in for everybody because everybody can afford
you know, one hundred.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Bucks or whatever it is.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
And it's just a lot of funny. You see those
people getting together now, it's like it's like a cult.
It's like they get together and there's a whole bunch
of them and they're all coming to this bar. Well,
you know there's a month Texas terry. Yes, she's got
I don't know how many she's ahead, two hundred and
thirty forty dollars. Really yeah, yeah, good for her fun.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Well, well this has been fabulous. It's great to see
you for more reasons than one. Yeah, or maybe there's
only One's not sure. It's just went back. It's a
little chili. They're heading done a Floorida.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Oh gosh, chili. The coldest temperature Yesterdam was one of
the coldest thirty seven in Cynthiana. You know, I can
go out my front door so a rock and you know,
hit that place though.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
A complain about the heat, complained about the cold, complaint
with your weather. Oh well, because you can't do anything
about it, that's right percent.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
But I still no, I'll tell you my complaint.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
I'm so sick of this. What is you get up
too early? Yes?
Speaker 1 (25:03):
That leaves November the second I.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Get my hour back. I thought they were going to
change that.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
You're working on it.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
They're working on changing it and leaving it.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, one way or the other, and I don't care. Yeah,
I got it. Okay, he's gonna check it out. I
think he's going to the risk. I think you're going
to that.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
I think you should do the apps. I think I
better do some somebody's gonna pay for this. It's great
to see you.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Well.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Thank you for coming min oh yeah, thank you, thank you.
Beautiful day for it. Sure if anybody wants to come out,
you can come out and.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Come out and see everybody. We're gonna have a lot
of fun today.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
All right, my friend, thanks for coming back. Goodness always good.
How long is with you? You know it's quicker for
you to get here? And there was gooden to the
old place, isn't it. It's about the same, about the same. Yeah, okay,
all right, thank you for October four, sant Anita Grade
two two hundred found out of Oakley Stakes was won
(26:03):
by Explorer, a two year old Philly She's by blame
and three stars. Explorer won her debut at del Mar
and a maiden special. She won by four and three
quarter links frents second after an eventful trip in the
Grade one del Mar Debutante over seven furloughs, then won
the Great two Oakley States over a mile and of
sixteenth one by four and a half lengths. Going away
(26:27):
like most of the Blames that she loved the added
distance told for three hundred and fifty thousand dollars as
a two year old in training Sale Explorers trained by
Bob Beffert, was bred in Kentucky by Messenger w Farm.
This last week we were talking about the most recent
Grade one winter side by Blaming that was the victory
(26:49):
by Sabaian is a four year old four wover in
France and Bread and owned by the Auga Cohn Studs
when Sabaian won the Group one pre von Europa and Cologne.
He's the seventh Grade one of Group one winner of
Blame unless, of course, headed by the classic winning Phillies
Senga over in France and what paint, What paint winner
(27:12):
of the Grade one Coaching Club American Oaks in this country.
Now Blame is started fifty four stakes winners, one hundred
and one hundred and three steaks horses. Fifteen percent of
his starters of arn black type. That means you have
a great shot of adding black type to your marriage
produce record with Blame and as an added bonus, he's
(27:32):
a great source of stamina and the demand for his
daughters as potential stage producers is growing by leaps and bounds.
Just last week the Grade one First Lady Stakes was
won by simply in Front and she's out of a
mayor by Blame Eclipse Forward winner. Blame is a Clavern
bread standing at Claven Farm in Queeries to Jacob West
(27:55):
at eight five nine nine eight seven two thirty three
old and the website is farm dot com. Of course,
Clavern Farmers over in Paris, Kentucky. And there are two
organizations over in Paris one and the same you might
as well say, the clay Ward Agency and Indian Creek Farm.
(28:17):
Two great organizations over there. The Clayward Agency was sending
way back in nineteen thirty one by mister James clay
Ward and they've been ensuring thurdbreds ever since and been
very successful of what they do. That's because they do
it very well there. You know, they give you a
(28:38):
great service and they have a thorough knowledge of the
horse business. And those qualities were carried on right now
as we speak. If it pertains to the third bred,
the professionals of the Claveward Agency and a great position
supply the best coverage at the best price available. All
you need to do is called Shaq, Paris and Bruce
Aswicks over there, a couple of really nice guys. And
(29:01):
the number over there is nine eight seven eighteen sixty
one eight five nine nine eight seven eighteen sixty one.
Offices are right there own Main Street in Paris, Kentucky.
Main Street courses one way street going north. It's eleven
o two Main Street in Paris, Kentucky. If you're driving along,
(29:22):
look for the funeral funeral what do you call funeral home? Home?
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Get that awful? That's your last home?
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Well avoided at this time.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
You can go one step ahead of one.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Step ahead of them. Anyway, Yeah, I go. So the
number to call over there is right They're eleven o
two Main Street in Paris. It's it's nine eight seven
eighteen sixty one over there. And then of course Indian
Creek is one of the most successful and the most
beautiful horse farms in central Kentucky. And once again that's
(30:00):
a good one of the good guys in the business.
And uh, they do a great job of They've raised
and boarded and so many of the world's sinus their
beres down through the years, and they know what they're
doing over there. Their horses look great. When you walk
into the sales ring, you can depend on that they've
been around long enough to give you a good position
in the sales and so forth. So if you and
(30:23):
it's a great place to board your horses. If you're
going to board harks, you'd like somebody to sell them
for you. You couldn't do any better than going with
it with Indian creekky dot comments in Indian creekky dot com.
And once again they guy to talk to his shack
parish number over there is uh eight five nine nine
(30:44):
eight seven seven four four three.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and urso ellis.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
All right? Moving right alone? And Michael check that really
be honest, didn't he? Well? Half hour that's how it happened.
That's about right. That's about right for Michael, you.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Know, kind of get there and go to the chapel.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Go to the chapel. Yeah, you can tell them where
the chapel is.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
And Michael's estimate wherever they're playing bets.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Yeah, well basically it's the Red Miles.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
On Keenland, now Keenland.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Well, well, but they go out to the Red Mile,
that's where that's where the chapel is. You know they
get it.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
They run a red mile at the same time. It's Keenland.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
I think you're probably opened for bess.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Well, I have to find that out. I don't think
that's a good one.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
We'll take a break here and need to run out
there and check you. Well, okay, I'll see you all right. Well,
let's take a look at some of them taking the
time here. The steaks is spaces have been run in
the last week or so. You know it's not far
(32:08):
off to a breeders cup.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
Oh, I know that that's November first and second.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Well, speaking of that, the Grade one six hundred and
fifty sound not of Clayburn breeders futurity was one but
Ted Knafi Ted Knafie, I know. I love that.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
For anybody that hasn't heard Ned Toffee is the manager.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
At Spencerft did toffee and.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Somebody mistakenly instead of putting ned toffee, they put ted noffee.
So they named the horse Ted Noffe, and that son
of a gun can run. I mean, it's just hilarious.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Well, it's got to be the favorite as we speak
now for the Breeders' Cup juven Philly, there's a cat
walking and go as to her. Pray, preddy cat. She
wants to come in and eat. She's already eating. I've
already fed her. Go to the next door, honey, all right, okay,
(33:13):
come on in. That cat's older than I am. She's
the sole survivor.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Of that was funny. She was real worried when you
weren't here, was she? Yeah, she went to the chair
and she went back, and she went to her speed
and back to your chair and you weren't here.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
She was real kind of she's the lone survivor out
of the four four cats that we got out of
the humane stuff that after fourteen fifteen years ago. Knows
how old this cat is, but now she's been a
funny kind of a cat. She came around and she
stayed with us for a couple of three or four
(33:55):
years and then just disappeared. And how long was she gone?
Speaker 1 (33:58):
A couple of years anyway, more than that three four?
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Yeah, I don't know. Then one day she showed up
on the on the back porch and she's been here
ever since. Yeah, Mike Wall saved her life. Yeah, doctor
Wall in Paris. Yeah, there's another really good guy.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
She had gotten something on her face. Remember he said
something bitter, she did something.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
And uh, he took care of her.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Yeah, and now she's not a special diet. That's fun
I expend that's how you know it's special. And what's
funny is she gets a certain kind of can captured.
But she also can eat the kibbles.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Yeah, she loves the kibbles.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
I mean, she just wanted to know what's going on
here with no kibbles and.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Run over and get some shi when she came back
after being answering for five or six years and she
wasn't housebroken. Yeah, and uh, we keep a kiddy little
box far back out here in the office and she
uses it sometimes and most of the time she goes outside.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
Yeah, she's.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Well, I'm not I teach about too interested. And they
were all the life story of our cat.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
I don't know, well, they were all we always kept
barn cats.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yeah, and she therefore were the last of the you know,
she was the last one. So here she is saying,
we've had a couple of old tomcats that would show
up to it. They were wild.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
You know, it's funny. Did she ever name them?
Speaker 2 (35:44):
We call them something I forget.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
But yeah, that's funny.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Remember the little gray one that showed up at the
Little tom Cat. He was a lovely little cat. Yeah,
but he passed away too. All right. Well, once we're
getting back to this to tea nothing. He's by in
the Mississifal courses stands in America's North, America's leading sire
stands out of Spencer Farmbury Aaron and Marie Jones. I've
(36:10):
got some stuff on the information on him later on,
you know. But he he won the fraturnity that he
just breathed. He won about two and three quarter links.
This is the assume command and the infistration drew off,
drew office right for the further here ind and further
in front. He got so as it as of right
(36:34):
now he is the favorite for the Breeders' Club funeral. Wow.
So another one who was in the mischiefs.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
Yeah, that's unreal. It's amazing. It's just around the corner.
Hen two weeks, three weeks.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Here's some other stakes versus here. Let's say the Grade
one first Lady steaks out of Canan. It had a
part eight hundred down dollars. Uh, four year old fully
Naice simply in front one that by some upfront read
by Bill Harrigan and Michael Petronzilo Pantangelo. Harrigan's easier to say, yea,
(37:17):
sounds like a Nashman and an Italian. There. Uh the
Grade one Champagne Stakes. Uh, Napoleon Solo one that by
Leam's Map read by John Gunter, and you were with
Bloodstock and that was a pretty impressive way. He's the Champagne.
You know, there's a Grade one stakes race up at Belmont.
(37:41):
You know a lot of a lot of good stud horses.
If you're looking back up and they wanted one of
Champagne as two year olds. It's kind of a it's.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Such a famous race anyway, you know that's another race.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Yeah, of course it's Saratoga, but but it's uh gained
the reputation that has been Uh, the winners are going
to be successful and stood sure. Napoleon Silo is by
Liam's Math read by John Gunster and Nero West Bloodstock.
Let's see what time is it now? I'm going to
(38:19):
do a few few for a few more. There's Spinster
Stakes of Torpedo. Anna were in fourth, Adam and she's
and uh, you know she just not what she was
last year and and kennemy Peak, a tranger was came
(38:43):
up and said, she's probably going to be retired to
be pread. Who would breed her to? Who? Anybody? You
want to exactly?
Speaker 5 (38:54):
True?
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Yeah, they'll come looking for.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
You, I'll bet you Perabsolutely.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
I believe they do that at Spensery. That's where I do.
I think they go out and shop. They shoppered them.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Yeah, well and you've got something to sell, hey.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Yeah, yeah, a lot of theoum do that. Probably in
stood too.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Well.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Anyway, Ginger in the Winter is by horse Na hot Tail.
I don't know hot tail from low Tail, but I
think it stands. A came in and anyway, that Spencer
winner was with the cave at bredon the second tors
Easier in the second Nitrogen. The Grade one present Steaks
(39:40):
at Belmont Park went to Iron Orchard and Aron Orchard
is by another one those Spencer porson this one by
authentic of course. He won the authentic one of Kentucky
Derby and he and he was by in the Mischief
and he's really coming on it stood. It was a
(40:01):
little slow getting started, but he's rolling now. Is a
two year old winner of Grade one stakes. Yeah, so
authentic is going to be an authentic sire too. I
think it's some bread pine red table. He's a New
York bread. But of course the Grade one racement, the frazette,
it was open to all kinds of whatever. It was
(40:25):
wide open, not restricted to anybody. New York region field
of ten in this Philly came up from well off
the pace there and one going away by nose looks
like the foot of the authentics run the better they get,
that's true. The Grade one American Pharaoh Staks and American
Pharaoh as you know that earlier Daniel Jackie, he's going
(40:47):
to go to acolate. What was she going to? How
gong to Australia? And yeah for the seed breeding season
down there. Yeah. Coast Triple crime winner the Great one
American Pharaoh stakes at Santa Anita was won by maximums
Mitchell Sons in Torpedo reread by Serra Fear Farm in Kentucky.
(41:14):
And of course Maximum Mischief is not one of those
successful size over at Squenslip Farm. The Great two Old
Gleaf Steaks and Santaneda want to explore and explorer is
by blame read by Messing. I would Messing w farm
(41:36):
an the s I n g W. I know that's.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
That must be something they know.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
I guess I don't know with this. This filly would
bread by By is trained by Bob Backing and trained
by those people, and she one pretty you know, off
by herself going going around two turns. The whether the
blames run the better as far as that goes, I.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
Mean no, I was just looking at something about them.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
Oh, I'm way behind on them.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
Reading in a southern hemisphere. Yeah, we breed January through
more or less May June. Theirs is May June more
or less through December January, so you can breed you round.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
I better catch up here.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
Last Sunday Woodbine the two hundred found out a cup
of saucess Sakes was one by Dixie Law to Old

take the cup and saucers. She won about two and
a quarter widening lengths with the two crops of rushing age.

Just say you're talking about that A Mendego as a
two year old one the Great one Belmont States one
of the Grade one travels from the Grade one Florida
Derby n third. He won the Grade three Holy Bull
(43:36):
and run second in the Kentucky Derby. Here in two million,
seven hundred and thirty five thousand, three hundred dollars. He
is the number one son of the popular Shire Constitution
who stands for one hundred and ten thousand, and his
damn is the Grade two stakes winner Tis that is
by one of the old time greats. Tis now Tis
the Law stands over to Ashford stud that's a farm
(43:58):
of the proven record of the bell up in outstanding size.
Please start as low as five thousand dollars live fold
and right now it would be a great time to
give them a call over there and book a mare.
They'll do their best to find the best merit, the
best price available for you. Number over thirt eight five,
nine eight seven three seventy eighty eight. And the website
(44:20):

and Tack and Paris quality service leather goods since nineteen
eighty two, nation's largest custom hawker shop, twenty thousand halters
a year ship worldwide.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Woo Quilling q U I L l I N dot.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
Com in Paris nine eighty seven oh two one five.
And you need to go online to look at the
stuff at Quillings because in the old days when they
head paper catalogs and stuff, things would change, you know,
and you couldn't put out another catalog.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
Every three four days.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
So they went online and you get a look at
the stuff they've got. Of course, I mean they're famous
for horse halters and you name it. And now now
breeding season will be coming up again after Christmas. Right now,
the sales are are Onmir's well.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
They got all these bloodstock. Say it's coming up.
Speaker 1 (45:31):
Now, coming up down. Yeah, that's where you buy all
the really gorgeous halters and stuff in shanks. If you've
got a shank, look you wanted to look nice? Then
of course they have belts. They're famous for their build
Everybody in central Kentucky's got a belt from Quilling with
(45:51):
their name on it on a breastplate. And that's just
a given. Now I was looking through here. They got
a lot of interesting stuff if you want to start
looking around for Christmas. Covered key tags and oh my god,
it's endless check book covers, paces to put all of
(46:15):
your credit cards and stuff.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
I've got one of those.
Speaker 5 (46:19):
Well my one credit card, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
Don't let me have one.
Speaker 1 (46:24):

We've got one of these.
Speaker 5 (46:32):
They're jingle sleigh bells.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Thinks small ones and large ones and that's fun for Christmas.
I've got one out packed away in the storage room,
ready for Christmas. So it's Quolling Paris ninety eighty seven

Speaker 4 (46:48):

Yesterday last Friday, they ran the Way to Jesmine stakes
out of Kenan. That was day four yesterday. And imagination
the lady, let me look at that imagination. The lady's
all one word won that one. She is by not
(47:45):
this time bread by as for you farming coach's next stables.
Another one incidentally raised over on McCauley feeds. Let's see
on the fourth that was uh, that was last Thaturday,
Degree two Thurber in Public of America Sex went I
(48:06):
went to praying. We used to do a lot of
that before we went in anything. Didn't do much food.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
We tried.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
Exactly, but playing playing praying is by the Cooma who
was a tremendous stud horse over at the Spencer Farm
at bred Brud Jeff Kerber in Kentucky. On Friday, the
grade three hundred and seventy five thousand, dollars for Tunity
Stakes in New York went to Intricate Spirit at two
(48:34):
Yoko by Complexity one three quarters in the one O,
seven and four That'll Win for You reread by Ben Henley,
Rebecca Henley and Jim Gray. Fold over there at Airbridge

I better take a break. Heare real quick and do
(48:55):
a Spencer fad. Authentic Bouldire in the Mischie Maximum Mischief
and the Cooma Side States winners last weekend. Authentic is
the sire of Behind the Orchard, winner the Grade one

It's called dais or Mark or Ron or daniel A
five nine two nine four years ero thirty in the
website is Spencer Farms dot com. Okay, and let's say.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
A few words about our friends Hale and Reagan Parker.
Speaker 5 (50:46):
They are terrific at what they do.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
And what they do is he.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
Sells horse farms and he's a horse farm and land specialist,
full time realtor of principal broker, or's member of all
these associations.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
So that.
Speaker 5 (51:05):
What's interesting about Hill is he is a license horse
player eleven states. He's years of experience ben horse's jumpers, steeplechasing,
and he has to come out. He trains, he's fought.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
I think he bought like sixteen acres on the back
of the training center so he can train off his property.
And we've seen a lot. He's great, he's really smart
and he's a really nice guy. So what this means
is you're looking for a horse farm, you need to
(51:42):
know what it takes. I mean, unless you're selling one
buying another. You have to where the barns and the
fences and the lads and everything go. You have to
know what it's going to be used for you. How
much stabling do you need?
Speaker 5 (51:59):
Do you need brief facilities, training facilities? Are you going
to board? If you're going to board, where are you
going to put the teaser paddock?
Speaker 1 (52:09):
For current out lab anyway, that's the kind of stuff
you want to get right at the beginning, because if
you don't, you're looking at a mess.
Speaker 5 (52:19):
I mean, really and truly.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
So you work with the.
Speaker 1 (52:24):
Experienced agents. He knows all the zoning and rigs and
water and all that good stuff. Waterers for purnt out
laban waters so.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
Fills a great guy. So I worked for his lovely
bride of course, Riggan. And they're just looking for wonderful people,
nice people, great people. I recommend them highly. We've done
business with them in the past and it was always
a pleasure. Oh yeah, and they walk extra mile for.
Speaker 5 (52:55):
You, which is really work hard, my gosh, I'll.
Speaker 2 (52:58):
Tell you what they really do. And uh so let's
uh healing Hell and Reagan Parker. Best way to get
in touch with him. I'll give you a sale number
here in a minute, But the best way to go
is to go to their website, your beautiful website, by
the way, Lex Horsefarms dot com, Hell and Reagan Parker
and the let me give you Hell's sale number. It's
(53:22):
an eighty five nine number six eight eight oh three
nine Hell and Reagan Parker, Lex Horsefarms dot Com.
Speaker 4 (53:38):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and ursul ellis.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
Oh right, we've got a couple of more staate verses
that have got more nne to look at, got homine,
We've got a bunch of them look at anyway, top
of the r uh. James Skelly is going to come
on with us, and James is turned in not only
be a great handicapper, one of the old time girls
(54:05):
of our book, but a real good friend.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
Absolutely, yeah, and came over to the hospital, came to
the hospital to visit me. I was you know, I
was honored. The great three Tillings were at steaks that
Santada went to tomorrow and tomorrow is the four year
old fib boat your row of courses and another one
standing over a Spencery farm out of America. Probably remember Jackie,
(54:32):
you remember Beholder? Oh yeah, oh yeah, great race mayor
shoot Listening's got a license to run energy bread Westpendthrift
Farm and that's.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
How to Beholder.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:46):
She it doesn't seem like Beholders old enough to.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
You know, that's a four year old. That's not her
first stakes for her.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
That's amazing.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Let's see you They the Grade three surfer Zuerl stakes
over Sannata went to Brave da Have as a two
year old Philly. We talked about this earlier season. This
stake's good a mile on the grass in two one,
pretty handy in n around one thirty five and two,
(55:18):
and she was bred by Spencery Farm. They having a
fantastic year. The grade two zoom of each stakes a
grade three I should say Santa Nato went to start
contrast Caravaggio, missus Jerry Emmerman, and I don't know where
Caravaggio instill the truth. I have to look him up
(55:39):
in the blood who stay in register. Let's see the
Bourbon States had a Keenan Grade two final score one
that but not this time. But but the b G
Stables Kentucky bread favorite in the race of twelve, led
virtually all the way either first or second, and won
(56:00):
by link in the quarter. Two year old Coote three
hundred down out of the Indian Summer Stakes at Keenan. Uh.
This one, also for two year olds, went to Schwartzenegger.
Is that's the name of that god used to be
a governor, weightlift or something in Schwartzenegger, Arnold Schwarzenegger in California.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
No, I don't know what he was where. It was
somebody married one of the Kennedy did Yeah, sisters, I'm
pretty sure that's true.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
Well Schwartz, I don't know a whole lot about him.
Maybe it was in the fourth grade before. He can't
remember how to spell its own name. I couldn't spell
it now s C h W A R C E
n E g g E R. Anyway, it's a two
cold by not this time brid but Frankflint Park stood
(56:57):
Franklin for farm. Mister also raised on a caller points.
He led all the way and we went going five
and night furlongs on the grass in one O two
and one went by half length. I saw that race.
It was an interesting race. It was rooting farm because
it was McCauley fees. The cup of sausa stakes of
(57:20):
woodbine went to Dixie Law by Tears the law over
at ashwood Stead and Dixie lawbred begarl and Eve Williamson
Burden Canada. But this is a it's an open race,
a cup and saucer and going a mile of sixteenth
(57:40):
on the grass on the weeds at hawth on the
Hawthorn Derby one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. That's a
lot of race for them money anyway. Uh, and I
got I won that three old Building by midship and
bred by Leonard Suptack Kent Turkey Bread by Midshipmen. The
(58:04):
Algonquin Stakes would mind Winter was the horse name shy Fair.
See why shy Fair by not this time but by
Mark Keller. And that was the last glass of the
stakes from last weekend. I guess I'll tell you I
don't know where they come up with some of these names.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
I mean, I ursa writess golf and I type it
and you try to keep up with it.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
Back when I was given the razors off, had a
fifteen minute show for I stopped doing that show in
nineteen ninety eight. Okay, I did that used to show
for forty something years. Yeah, and we run across those
kind of names that I put on my best Southern
accent and just slurred through.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
I know. It was a fun show to do though.
I had a bunch of nice sponsors with you know,
the internet put me out of business.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
Othing because they had they could get up to him.
Speaker 2 (59:13):
If I started doing this show in nineteen ninety eight
we've been doing it right, Yeah, And was it last
year last week? Had we missed?
Speaker 1 (59:23):
Yes, that was the first time since ninety eight, twenty
seven years worth.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
Yeah, lord, that was the first show we ever missed. Yeah,
good lord.
Speaker 1 (59:37):
And the first one we did out at Clayburne.
Speaker 2 (59:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:43):
And it was down by the standing barns or something
we were outside with.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
Yeah, we did it outside. It was fun, kind of
out in front of the offices, out right out there.
That's what we was.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
It was, is that where it was?
Speaker 2 (59:56):
I thought it was okay, well, yeah, you could look
right down on seats stood.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
Yeah, that was fun.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Yeah. Go virgin was s was standing there at the time.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
And uh, he's decided that one of our last horses. Yes,
that this passed away about four or five months ago
out of old true.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
But I'm I'm beginning to be condensed that when you
have horses turned out together and they're best friends, yeah,
one of them dies checks out. Yeah, the one checks out.
It's like man of war. What's it, you know, mister Harbort,
(01:00:39):
mister Harbard died and thirty days later, so that man war.
And I've seen horses do this all right.
Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
Last week we were talking about the wind by Innovative
in the Grade three times see Harry Stakes at Santaya.
Innovative by Complexity in the two hundred and thirty found
dollars graduate of the old BS April Sale bread by
hamat a Mumuti and Suleizia Farm. This week subject because

The aforementioned Graded States winners into we Could Spirit and Innovative.
Kale's Angel has won two stakes at Oaklawn plus another

The James M.
Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Thank you for stopping by the hospital the other day.
I was honored that you did that. You're a great
friend and I really did appreciate that. Man a whole lot.
Time is a thing. Thank you, thank you for doing it,
and I feel good. They put two stints in my heart. Yes,
you know yesterday so day before, day before. So I'm
(01:03:09):
kicking right now. That's out.
Speaker 7 (01:03:16):
That is outstanding. It was my pleasure to stop by
and see in the hospital and I'm glad you're.
Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Doing well, and.
Speaker 7 (01:03:23):
I mean you you're really something, Ursul. I really appreciate
everything you do. Hey, this weekend, we've got keeling going
on and racing all around the country. And if you're
looking for any handicapping products, past performances, petting information, data
files and more, bristnet dot com is your source. It's
(01:03:46):
the Handicapper's Edge.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (01:03:49):
Like I said, we have lots of reports, handicapping and
other information going on, and we're gonna have a brist
Neet Ultimate I mean, excuse me, a Breeder's Cup Ultimate
handy capping package that will be rolling out here in
the next couple weeks and it will have past performances
for all thirteen Breeders' Cup races, picks and other prim
(01:04:12):
other products to prepare you for the championship event at
Del Marra on October thirty first, at November first. But
but do you want to say that today at Keenlan
is one of my favorite races of the year. It's
the Grade one Queen Elizabeth the Second Challenge Cup stakes.
This race was won last year really impressively by She
(01:04:35):
Feels Pretty. And this year we got a really a
really good field of nine three year old phillies squaring
off at Keenlan. Number two Laura Lin, it's the morning
line favorite. She's undefeated from six starts, comes off a
win in the Great two Saratoga Oaks for Grand Motion,
(01:04:56):
and number nine ten is back to back winner the
rad want Belmontoak. She be met in in that and
then she won the Dueling Grounds Oaks last out. So
those two are really the top draws. But there's a
lot of other contenders in there, and you know, I
like Laurelan in there, but that race could go. You know,
(01:05:18):
there's a bunch of a bunch of good horses in
that field, so it should be a dynamite Queen Olyza
with the Second Challenge Cup out of Keelan today.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
Alrighty, al right, I love that, right.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
Didn't the Queen come the first one or something like that? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:05:38):
I think so she came either the first year or
the second year. And uh oh they hold bad weather too.
I mean that was a long time ago, but yeah,
it was a long time ago.
Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
But yeah, that's a fun thing.
Speaker 7 (01:05:53):
Yeah, this is one of the best. This is perhaps
the best two opening weeks of Keelan in the fall
weatherwise I've ever seen in my whole life. It's just
been every day out there, it's been sunny and nice.
And I get another beautiful couple of days today and
tomorrow at Aquila.
Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
Ah. Yeah, it's really been great.
Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
Sorry, is it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
All right? Jans James, thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
So much for stopping by.
Speaker 6 (01:06:27):
You know, we love you.
Speaker 8 (01:06:29):
And yeah, definitely, and I'll be I'll be looking with
you all get next week and maybe we'll start taking
a look ahead towards the breeders shop.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Sounds like fun. It's always fun to talk to you.
Thank you for calling my friend.
Speaker 7 (01:06:46):
Okay, God, Okay, y'all, y'all have a good weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
Thanks Ursel, thank you. All right, we're talking about that
Queen a little bit challenge cup today. Could you got
an announcement or tool over there? Oh yeah, I'll tell
you what about that Queen Elizabeth thing? Ye? Can you
do those announs? I need this?
Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
Yeah. The first year that the Queen came, I took
Betsy to make sure she wanted to see the Queen.
I mean she was on it and we actually saw
them drive by her little parade when we were lived
(01:07:30):
out at homework for him. But anyway, I took Betsy
to see the Queen and we were on the second
floor and we had a perfect view of the paddock
and here she came walking out. I said, Betsy, that
the Queen. There's the Queen. Hooray, hooray. And Betsy said, oh,
(01:07:55):
you know, where's the crown? What's going on? I mean
she dressed like Queen Elizabeth usually does, in a suit,
you know, and Lissie was pretty disappointed. She looked like
Grandma Sys. So anyway, but I'll never forget that.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
That was fun.
Speaker 1 (01:08:12):
So anyway, here's a oh yeah, the Sunday Silence Mural
is going to be unveilable in downtown Paris tomorrow. Beautiful
weather again dedication for the mural.
Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
It's a beauty.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
It's up on a second floor of one of the
buildings on Main Street, a new Equine art installation celebrating
the legendary resource set for tomorrow Sunday, two o'clock downtown Paris.
It's free, it's open to the public. It's a lot
of fun. It's a part of the third annual Legends
(01:08:54):
of Bourbon County Festival, which will celebrate the legacy of
Sunday Silence throughout the weekend part of their dedication. It's
the day long festival on Main Street in Paris. It
includes vendors and musical acts and all that kind of
small town fun stuff. Mount Music Ambassadors are going to
(01:09:19):
start at noon, Kentucky Wildhorses at one pm, and Mash
Grass are schedule. Anyway, it's nice. Paris is a nice town.
That's a good place to hang out, go to church,
get something to go downtown Paris and check out the mural. Now,
one other Derby winner, Mystic Dan, is going to open
(01:09:45):
his stud career at air Dree for fifteen thousand. He
last year's Derby Winter by Golden Scents. This is fun
because we go to Lill's in Paris and they bred
Golden Sense. Yes, Lara and her husband bred Golden Sense.
(01:10:08):
So everybody that goes to Lil's for lunch or whatever,
we're all cheering on mist extend by Golden Sense. What
a fun thing. I mean, that's just fits right in. Anyway.
He's going to start next in the Breeder Sculpter Mile,
and then he'll be at stead next year at air
(01:10:30):
Dree fifteen. And of course he also won the Grade
to Lucas Classic Grade three Blame runner up in the
Preakness and heads to the Breeder Sculptor Mile is one
of the leading contenders so and Gerban of course leads
(01:10:55):
the Airdree twenty twenty six roster at third. Well, let's
see eleven year old Stallion's first Kentucky bread Track crop.
It's the track next year. So that's really really a
fun thing too. I like nice people out there and
(01:11:17):
it's a nice place to.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
Do that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Everything.
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
Yeah, very good, okay, Jackie, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
Oh I also have forgot something else. Well, spit it out,
spit spit Okay. Fifty fifth it cluts Awards location in
Florida the Breakers Palm Beach, with the ceremony Thursday, January second.
(01:11:50):
National NTRA and Daily Racing Form and National terf Riders
announced Tuesday Static I think so too to return to
the Breakers for our fourth year in a row. Celebrating
success racing's human and equine champions is the highlight of
(01:12:11):
the year. It's perfect venue birding for the Eclipse Awards
takes place at the end of the year, et cetera.
So there you are. That's what's going, that's what you
What is there.
Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
To do in January?
Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
Well? That was it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Was it last year of January. We had those three
weeks of snow. It's past January.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
With us, is it? We got ice underneath?
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Yeah, we had about six or eight inches of snow
and we had about an inch of ice, and then
we had more snow, a couple of inches more at
least two, maybe three, and then ice. It was great, right, yes,
it was. I went out and stocked up everything, which
I usually do, and I usually wind up with a
(01:13:08):
bunch of sour stuff because you know, it's never spent.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
I think, what's that stuff that you'd like to drink?
Speaker 1 (01:13:16):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Oh, oh Christmas, you want to egnog? No eggnog. But
there's something else that's gone.
Speaker 5 (01:13:22):
Oh Irish, Yeah, yeah, the Irish stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
What the heck?
Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
I don't know, but we've got Irish whiskey in it
now I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
It's awfully good.
Speaker 1 (01:13:33):
It makes it very merry. You have to, you know,
let us know what the heck.
Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
We're doing much Neither one of us need the one
of us drink, I know, but.
Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
Then I will a little bit if it comes in
the product.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
That's that's what the one thing that I wouldn't mind.
I'm looking forward to, yeah, Christmas for yeah, and I
can pull that.
Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Side fire in the fireplace and drinking that yummy stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:13:59):

It's time for craven d Yeah, that's two claven Warden.
Then you can take care of our friends over it
at Hopewell. Ye ahead to our couplefore Santa Nita. The
Grade two two hundred found out of oak Leave Steaks
was won by explorer two yo old Philly by Blame
(01:14:22):
in three starts to explore, won her debut at del
Mar and I made in a special by four and
three quarter links, ran second after an eventful trip when
the Grade one del Mare debutane that was over seven furlongs.
Then she won the Grade two oak Cliffs over going
over on the sixteenth one that one by four and
a quarter links going away, you know, like most of
(01:14:44):
the blames, she wants to go around two turns. Anyway.
She sold for three hundred and fifty thousand dollars as
a two year old and training sale exploring. She was
trained by Bob Baffett, which is a pretty good thing
to do, and was bred in Kentucky by'm mission w Farm.
Just last week we were talking about the most recent
(01:15:05):
Grade one stakes winner by Blame. That was the victory
by Sabayan in a four year old. She is a
four year old. He is a four year old fold
over in France, bred incidentally by the Alga Constas owns
them too. Sabaian won the Group one Prix to Europa
and Colleen and Cologne. He's the seventh Grade one of
(01:15:27):
Group one stakes winner by Blame, this headed by the
classic winning Phillips Senda Over in France and Wet Paint.
Wet Paint won the Grade one coaching covered American oaks
in this country. Blame As sired fifty four stakes winners
one hundred and three state horses, is an interesting stant here.
Fifteen percent of his started his veryn black type, so
(01:15:48):
he's got really a great shot of adding black type
to the Americas pridus record with Blame, and as an
added bonus, he's a great source of stamina and the
demand for his daughter as potential stakes producers is growing,
but leaps and bounds just like week. For instance, the
Grade one First Lady Stakes was won by simply in

Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
Well, that's true. Mike brought in milk and you know,
yeah necessities.
Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
Yeah, that's amazing. Anyway, now, Hope Well Insurance Agency another
fine group over here in Paris, Kentucky. When we moved here,
we didn't know, We weren't sure which church. Found that
out real quick and found out quick too that where
should we go for insurances? Hope Well? And we did.
(01:17:01):
We were never ever sorry, Ted McClain. Gosh, they've just
they're right there whenever anything happens. We haven't had all
that many. Well that time we got struck by lightning
or you know, and it's singed who singed?

Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
I mean it was wonderful because our lights were blinking
at it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:27):
It was a mess.
Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
Anyway, what I think is real interesting about them They
don't work for a mega insurance company like Worldwide and
you have to press buttons talk to anybody.
Speaker 5 (01:17:42):
They work for you.
Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
They are an independent insurance agency.
Speaker 7 (01:17:48):
And how that works.
Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
They went around and looked and they use a carefully
seglected group of financially sound, reputable company. So when you've
got an insurance need, if you needed for your car,
or your house, or your barn or what, they find
out which big company gives you the best price that works.
(01:18:16):
So because of that they can give you with a
no cost, no obligation review comparison of your insurance. They
were established nineteen fifty five, my gosh, so they may
have to be. You can't last that long without doing
it right. It's a full service agency. Give them a
call in Paris nine eighty seven two three four seven
(01:18:40):

that is the Frank that was tomorrow's stakes face at
team and interesting race here the Sam Huff West Virginia

Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and ursul ellis.
Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
Hearing, yeah, had the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Okay, yeah, I'm okay. Jacked my neighbor's space there, thank you,
thank you. A couple other states today at doc he's
got dog. He's got dog. He didn't him hear that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:04):
Oh see, he just gets tired of hearing me tell
him stuff, so he just is Ah.
Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
This is doctor Brian Warridge and down at Mississippi State
formerly Elections in Kentucky, and I hope he comes back soon. Hey,
good morning dog, Hey, good morning. How things a Kentucky. Well,
I'll let Jackie explain to you. Go ahead, Jackie.
Speaker 1 (01:30:30):
Explain what oh oh oh yeah, Okay. He had somewhat
of a heart attack, and we got him through a
couple of hospitals and finally got him to doctor Oslom
at Central Baptists, who's just wonderful. Anyway, he had a
couple of weak places in one of his arteries, and
(01:30:55):
I don't know which one, but they were going to
go in there and tried to put a stint in
one he got. When we got to Ozmon, he said,
you know, if you're older than fifty er, I think
it is you can't have open heart surgery.
Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
And that's what this was.
Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
Normally, if you were thirty years old, that was what
you get. He said, I'm going to go in there
and see what I can do. And he was for
sure going to put in one stint.
Speaker 5 (01:31:25):
And we got back after the operation.
Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
He had put in two two stints, and I mean
we were past happy. I mean, it was just fantastic.
Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
I'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (01:31:37):
When Ursul went in for the operation, his his coloring
was not good. He looked kind of gray. Came back
and he looked ten years younger.
Speaker 5 (01:31:47):
I mean he just started talking that hole.
Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
Huh was he growing whole?
Speaker 1 (01:31:57):
If he was there? See, I said, I told doctor
as I said, look at me. His color is great.
Something else is wonderful when he's growing hair on the
top of his head.
Speaker 2 (01:32:09):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
Anyway, Yeah, it's wonderful. He's a super guy. Yeah, urs
doing great.
Speaker 2 (01:32:24):
Yeah awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
I was wondered about that.
Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
I feel pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
Yeah, that's awesome. I was.
Speaker 1 (01:32:35):
I was worried.
Speaker 3 (01:32:36):
I was I was in Chicago when Resty let me
know about that and that, and so I was thinking
about you.
Speaker 2 (01:32:44):
Well, thank you so much, and I was lucky I
came out of it on top. So we're gonna be
all right for a couple more years, a couple more seasons,
you know, made even got you back to Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (01:33:00):
All right, Well that that will be to go. Now
now got more reason.
Speaker 1 (01:33:05):
Well, he said he's gonna call up Bob Copeland, who
got a stint. And he says he's gonna tell Bob
copelan I see your stint in Irasia stint.
Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
There you go, right, somebody accusing me who's having an
art attack show? I could be like, Bob, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
Well we'll call you the cardiac cats again.
Speaker 2 (01:33:35):
Yeah, there you go. What's going on down you little friend?
Speaker 3 (01:33:40):
Oh, I'll tell you. I was in here after midnight
last night. We had a runner of the Friday night emergency.
But we've had two jokes. That was my second emergency
last night. And older horse he was about twenty and
they called him quick but yeah, he had discharged toe
a nose. That there's really bad jokes. They'll they'll be
(01:34:03):
like they'll be colicky and this horse would even lay
down a roll, and they said when he every time
he coughed, he would want to lay down and roll
because it seems like it's really painful. I know the
horses that you know, it's something stuck in their something
goes and they'll they'll wretch. Your horses can't vomit because
the way the stomach's made, but they'll sure wretch. And
(01:34:24):
once they got here, usually they come here. I'll just
take the same in the scope that we used to
look in the stomach, because it's about it's ten feet long,
and I can just go and look in their windpipe
first and just see how much, you know, because they've
got saliva and feed material and their wind pipe and
they can get pneumonia from that. Then I went in
(01:34:46):
there and you could hear it in him. You could
hear it with you use your stepscope. They had a
bunch of just mucus and crud and saliva, but when
he looked in scope, he did have quite a bit.
So then we went down as esophagus within the scope
and it was about four feet from his nostril. You
could see the choke and it was really softly. If
(01:35:10):
I put the scope in there, I could make a
little tunnel in it even and so I think it's
a pell I think that's what the owner said he
was eating. But I couldn't. Our scope is pretty big.
I couldn't be with the scope. So I'd take the
scope back out and then we did it like people
have seen on the farm. You know, you got to
sedatum really well so they're heads low, because when you're
(01:35:32):
past your tube and you pump water, you want to
try and minimize how much of that goes down there
the windpipe, because you know that can kill them alone
doing that and put the pneumonia. So we sedated him
really good. And you can give them some other drugs
besides sedation to help their esophagus relax. And I put
I mean at Aubrey one of the one of the
good best things that they taught me that was you
(01:35:55):
put light of cane, just like you used for a
nerve block down your tube or down the scope, and
it helps to anesthetize it because it'll work locally. You know,
it helps to relax their muscles and get the spasm
out of the esophagus. So I put that through the
scope right on choking. So we passed the team and
this pump water and your cheege from blowing out mold nostrils.
(01:36:18):
It probably took us about ten to fifteen minutes and
we got the choke resolved and put the scope back in,
and his esophagus was healthy. You know, there wasn't any
tears or sometimes you can see where that choke was
because to be irritated. Every thing looked good with him.
And this morning his lungs are good and clear, and
I just fitting my mash right before he called me.
(01:36:40):
But I had another one this week and twenty something
year old minister horse, and that one, unfortunate owners had.
Speaker 2 (01:36:49):
Really noticed it was choking.
Speaker 3 (01:36:50):
And I think it was about three days into it
when he came and I tried everything I knew to
do to get that choke resolved. And when I did
the dumping of the water and as esopkis, just clear
water came out. I couldn't get to choked to wash out.
(01:37:12):
And on my endoscope of that one, you can see
it was hey that that choked him, and you could
see the hay and the zopkus. You know, once you've
done everything like that, about the only other option you have.
His was a lot closer enough, it wasn't too far
into the esopkus. But the only other option you have
(01:37:33):
is to put them under anesthesia, you know, prottle under
gas anesthesia and tilt the table with their heads down
low so all that stuff again runs out their nose.
And it was good a tube in their windpipe for this,
but I tra a vise them out. But you know
what I mean, that's quite a bit of money and
I didn't feel like it was more than about fifty
(01:37:55):
and success to do that. So the owner decided to
put put the little phony down. But at knee crouptcy
where that choke was says probably about three days the best,
you know, kind of listening to the history, I can
tell the esophagus was starting to kind of die back
in that area, and the lying of the esophogis had
(01:38:18):
even died off, and there's a muscular layer underneath that.
Even the muscle layer was looking bad. And then they
said everything past that is esophagus was really swollen, and
they said that's why he couldn't pass it. It was
too swollen. So we wouldn't have been able to fix him, unfortunately.
And surgery of the esophagus is absolutely terrible most of
(01:38:40):
the time, and it just doesn't do well getting surgery
done to it, and it wants to make scar tissue,
and you know, a lot of it you can't get
to and and you know, probably a third of where
it runs runs through the chest, you know, over top
of the lungs and the hearts. You really can't get
to it there very easy. So we've had two good
(01:39:01):
jokes this week.
Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
Yeamn, Hey, how's your coat doing?
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
He's doing well. You know they've got a rider on
him already.
Speaker 2 (01:39:10):
I gotta send you a picture. I got a picture
of him yesterday afternoon.
Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
With a rider on his back.
Speaker 4 (01:39:15):
I was so proud.
Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
Wow, we've never seen him since you came up here.
Speaker 3 (01:39:21):
No, it's killing me that I can't say him. And
I think I've got too much going on. I really
wanted to get to Keeland, but I think I've got
so much stuff I gotta get done.
Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
You're you're allowed the owner, you.
Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
Know, well, I know I'm I'm avacant. Hey, but he's
in good hands, you know, I tell you where he's
at at. I'm just taking amazing care of him.
Speaker 2 (01:39:46):
I see you went to race the other day.
Speaker 3 (01:39:50):
Oh yeah, yeah, if you got a race. Uh and
it's been you know, hitting the board too, so he's
been doing well.
Speaker 2 (01:40:01):
Well, that's good, all right, my friend.
Speaker 1 (01:40:02):
We will talk well.
Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
Thanks for coming in and we will talk to you
next week.
Speaker 3 (01:40:08):

doing all right.

Honest to goodness, that's the best looking equipment I've ever seen.
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
I'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (01:42:19):
It's amazing. Sally Vans has been in business for more
than sixty some years. It's a long time. During that time,
many of the greatest runners ever to step on a
racetrack have been entrusted to their care and they've learned
a lot along the way. Of course they have. It's
(01:42:41):
obvious their vehicles and equipment earned TikTok shape, of course
it is. They've got a beautiful place out there where
they rehab and service and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:42:51):
That's that's great.
Speaker 1 (01:42:53):
But the most single most important safety factor to sally
Van is the ability and experience of the people behind
the wheel. Are extremely proud of their drivers at sally Van.
They're experienced drivers and experienced horsemen, and that's.
Speaker 2 (01:43:12):
A two for your need.
Speaker 1 (01:43:14):
Think about that the next time you ship your horse
across the county or across the country. When you load
your horse into a sali Van, you can depend on
the fact that the person behind the wheel is one
of the best in the business. Folks at sally Van
wouldn't have it any other way, and that's why for
more than a half a century. Sali Vans I listened

Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and ursul ellis.
Speaker 2 (01:43:58):
All right, I'm in the mood. Yes, something from that.
Joe Palmer wrote, So, I want to read the about
the gas House Gang. That's always good for tears. That
it's always good for a tear, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (01:44:11):
Oh, it's wonderful. It's just such a great and calling him.
Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
That, Yeah, okay, the gas House Gang. The records say
that Jolly Roger earned one hundred and forty three and
forty dollars, which is wolfully incomplete. It was a great
streeple chaser in an era of great steeple chasers. He
won a Grand National at Belmont under one hundred and
sixty five pounds in nineteen twenty seven, waned again the
(01:44:38):
next year one hundred and sixty seven and for Missus
Payne Whitney, which was a good thing for a horse.
And after he left the races in nineteen thirty he
went back to the paddocks of Green Tree Farm, to
go old gracefully with the world's record for earnings by
chaser mister Whitney, and Missus Whitney did not know it,
(01:44:58):
but Jolly Rogers earnings days weren't over a good Many
tourists from owl and Maine and Kansas get the Green
Tree every year, and of course they want to see
famous horses. There were some children on the farm owned
by some of the residents employees, and they found this
situation interesting. You want to see Saint germains. They'd asked
(01:45:19):
a questionnaire. If they found that the visitors knew little enough,
they'd offer a man of war, and for that matter
of clips, whatever the choice, one of the youngsters would
run out and catch old Jolly Roger. There was a
very flashy horse with a blazed face and four white stocking,
and he could be lit by a chowel on a
silk string. The act was always good for a quarter
(01:45:42):
or a half a dollar, and Jolly Roger was probably
shown as much as any horse in Kentucky, though never
under his own name. Presently their share of his patterns
came Cherry Pie, which was one of Missus Whitney's best
loved horses, and then twenty grand with his record for
the Derby, and there was an Eastern Hero finally to
(01:46:04):
make a fourth. The farm staff, lamentously addicted to baseball
and broadcasting seasons, called them the gas House Gang. You
won't recall Easter Hero because he raced only over the
fences in England. He was good enough. Let his fame
rest largely on the way he played mary Hill with
(01:46:25):
the field of Antreque Grand National in nineteen twenty eight.
This was a notorious renewable renewal in which the forty
two horses started and only the one hundred and one
shot Tipperary team finished undamaged. Although the American entry Billy
Barton was remounted after pecking the last jump and finished second.
(01:46:45):
No others finished at all, largely because of Easter Hero.
He hit the canal turned fence, but instead of going
over landed a straddle of it. Billy Barton too close
to turn out. Get the cat out, cat came in,
got in this jumped up. Okay, you won't recall Eastern
(01:47:09):
Hero because he raised only fences in England. He was
good enough at the same risk, largely on the way
he played mary Hall with the field of the entry
Grand National of nineteen twenty eight. This was a notorious
renewal excuse me between the Latin of sneezing and the
cat I don't know if I'm won't finishes. This was
(01:47:29):
the notorious renewal in which forty two horses started when
only the one hundred to one shot Tipperary Tim finished
and damage to the American entry. Though the American entry
Billy Barton was remounted after pecking his last jump and
finished second. No others finished at all, largely because of
the Eastern Hero. He hit the canal turn fence but
(01:47:51):
instead of going over landed a straddle of it. Billy
Barton too close to turn out period fence ditch and
Eastern Hero and one prodigious lead with several others fell
and the more refused Eastern Hero finally fell back off
the fence into the ditch on the near side, where
he ran up and down for a while and nothing
(01:48:13):
followed behind with an attempt to.
Speaker 3 (01:48:15):
Jump it all.
Speaker 2 (01:48:17):
This got the field to half a dozen or so,
and Andrew's murderous fences took care most of the few
which has got over twenty grand had won the Derby
in nineteen thirty one in track record time, sweeping down
the stretch with a prodigious rush. He was later tried
in the still it but proved incurably sterile. There was
(01:48:37):
an attempt to train him again. He ran into the
first Santa Nita handicapp in nineteen twenty five, but this
didn't work out well either, so he was brought back
to the farm and turned out with the other pensioners.
It would be nice to think that these four old
warriors remembered their days of glory and argered during the
hot summer afternoons about whether steeple chasing was honest though
(01:49:02):
the paddocks. Though the chances are they didn't, but at
least they had the big paddocks and the tall grass
in their own company and long years of idleists. As
the years passed, their reputations were largely forgotten. There had
always been plenty of horses better than Cherry Pie. While
Away broke twenty Grand's Derby record with an even more
(01:49:24):
spectacular ruge, many another horse came down at Entry through
the detriment of the field behind him, but year after
year doll Roger held to his record. No other steeple
chaser had ever earned so much as he but fast
even than the race horses runs. The white horse cherry
Pie was the first to go. He died in nineteen
(01:49:46):
forty seven at the age of twenty seven. In February
nineteen forty eight, Eastern Hero rose to his last fans,
and then a month later, twenty grand came in his
days at the age of twenty. This left Jolly Roger
An aging twenty six, as a literly survivor. In all
the years this year left the fences, his record had
(01:50:09):
remained virtually the only money record except top flights, which
had withstood the big purses of the nineteen forties. Then
on July two, Elkriidd's ten year old veteran of one
thousand fences, took off the field of the Indian River
steeple Chase at Delaware Park and with a purse of
eight eight hundred dollars, set a new steeple chasing mark
(01:50:33):
for earnings. On July three, the Gas House Gang was disbanded.
Jolly Roger died at Green Tree.
Speaker 1 (01:50:42):
Wonderful. Nobody can write like that, Nobody ever run across No.
I mean, that's just amazing. He's just wonderful.
Speaker 2 (01:50:53):
Alrighty, where are we.
Speaker 1 (01:50:55):
Talk about that? What a great place the training center
is to train.
Speaker 2 (01:51:02):
To train horses. I miss it, we do. We're doing
the show from home now, mostly because of my health.
Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
Yeah, but that's the training center that just gets keeps
rolling right along.
Speaker 2 (01:51:17):
Training Center is a great, great place to train horses.
Jack and I. How many years will we out there? Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:51:23):
Lord, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:51:24):
A long time we went.
Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
I mean we were in our share, didn't we Yeah
we did, Yeah, we didn't. Mostly they weren't in the money. Yes,
that's what that's what we were trying to get them
to do. We trained them all to go along because
we never had a whole lot of pedigree.
Speaker 1 (01:51:41):
Well we didn't have some of them didn't have a
whole lot of speed.
Speaker 2 (01:51:45):
Yeah. But so you trained to go along, Yeah, and
horses will come back to him. Yes, we had a
good percentage. I think we had a little over thirty
percent in the money. Maybe in the money.
Speaker 1 (01:51:59):
I'll look it up.
Speaker 2 (01:52:01):
You better look it up, because you're wrong. How come on,
I've put the damn good money.
Speaker 1 (01:52:07):
Yes it is.
Speaker 2 (01:52:08):
Yeah. We found out that if you changed him to
go along, they would come back to you, and you
get a piece of the first yes, and pay shipping.
We had a lot of fun doing it too, we did.
I remember Jackie would get so nervous right when, oh
my god, we take them over and put this tack
(01:52:30):
on them and everything, and Jackie always had to go
to the restaurant.
Speaker 1 (01:52:33):
Yeah, it was unbelievable. And Herb Jones boys, they helped
us a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:52:41):
Yeah, of course Herber did. God bless him. Oh yeah,
Herb was great.
Speaker 1 (01:52:46):
Yeah, not good buddy, he was.
Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
Yes, he really was. He passed away. Like I said,
you wonder when.
Speaker 1 (01:52:52):
People when they go to heaven somebody like Herb. I
wonder if he's training them up there.
Speaker 2 (01:52:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:52:59):
It's that fund of think about, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
Oh he's a great guy.
Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
I reckon, we've got racists up there getting back to
the training center. If you've got a couple of earlings
that you've just got through breaking this at that time
of the year that they do that, yes, and you
want to get them started, you can do it right there,
right there, very right there, because they've got that start.
Add on that five ahs mile track down below, you
(01:53:29):
can start them out on. Yeah, and then when you
get them florid up along you move them up to
the mile track.
Speaker 1 (01:53:36):
Yeah, and they can they.
Speaker 2 (01:53:38):
Can work up there, and they're great tracks, but.
Speaker 1 (01:53:41):
They are they really are in great shape.
Speaker 2 (01:53:44):
And and so it's really really really good, good place
to train your horses. You know that you've got that
mile track of five ahs mile track.
Speaker 1 (01:53:54):
And they got gallops too.
Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
Yeah, we've got grass gallops do you want to get? Yeah?
They also they got a start and the gate with
a great crew. Yeah, so you can screw them all.
Speaker 5 (01:54:09):
You know what else is up there?
Speaker 1 (01:54:10):
Handy is walkers, hay and grain. You can think you
can go right up there and buy hey.
Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
Especially and ye business although Jerry passed away, you know, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:54:23):
But it's handy.
Speaker 2 (01:54:26):
Yeah, it's handy.
Speaker 1 (01:54:28):
Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
They got a starting gate with a great crew. He's
got a crocker.
Speaker 1 (01:54:33):
Yeah, so about that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
There's a whole lot better driving when I was doing it.
Speaker 1 (01:54:38):
I remember when you first started. Somebody waltzed in from
the racing commission and well, where's Marilla's the cocker? I said,
I don't know, he's you know, you were somewhere and
he said, how much is he betting? I said, he
doesn't bet all cockers. Bet I said, no, no, no
(01:54:59):
he doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:55:01):
Why never heard of that?
Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
I said, well, you're hearing out, but now he doesn't
that and he kind of got disgusted and walked out.
I guess he was looking for tips.
Speaker 2 (01:55:11):
He was looking for tips. Yeah, I just figured you
were alive. Why you know, he did one or the other,
you know. But they do have official clock and they've
got those grass gallops. The facilities are found. You see
a quiet atmosphere, horses you will, Yeah, you can take
them out and graze them. If you're lucky. You can
(01:55:32):
rent a pattern.
Speaker 1 (01:55:33):
Yeah, it's real good because if you take them off
the farm to the racetrack, well that's a tremendous difference.
But if you take them off the farm to the
train center, it's a little like the farm and a
little like the races.
Speaker 2 (01:55:47):
That's exactly right. I'd say there's the rent. There's very reasonable.
As a matter of fact, if you call over there
and then then you just got a couple of horses
you want to take out, and you call over and
they're full, which they probably will, be the best thing
(01:56:09):
you can do is just start walking through the barns. Yeah,
we had Jack and I had Barn fifteen out there
for years, and we always had a couple of extra
stalls that we could yeah double yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:56:22):
That was kind of fun. We had a lot of
people in there we liked
