and the history of the thoroughbred industry. Harloway pulled away

now live from Kentucky's Bluegrass region. Here's Ursul.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Well, good morning everyone, and we were here in Bourbon
County looking out.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Over the farm, broadcasting from home.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
What's what we're doing? Pretty rigid with rigid aready now
and uh John Nicholson is doing us from old friends.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Going to have a party over there pretty soon to
understand every.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Party Friday night, Ursul and with our new partners and
friends at my racesource dot com. So yeah, I love
my graceurs I think that's.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
The coolest side ever, the.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Best idea there ever was at ranks right up there
with the idea of old friends. Yes, and uh so
it's uh it's something we're really looking forward to. And
uh I talked to Michael Barons, the CEO and driver
and mover behind my race Source at the Eclipse Awards
last year, and you know, we said we we got
(04:53):
some common ground here, and I was so impressed. Michael
Barons came to the to the farm last Springs. As
we set it up at the Eclipse Awards, and as
we just were getting to start talking, I said, let's
just take let's just jump on one of the tours.
There was just a tour coming by and we just
kind of tagged on with one of our tour guides
(05:15):
and he said, John, he said, these people that are
here are more my race horse type people and even
the people who are going through the turnstiles at the
race tracks. And he said, because they're here because they
care for the horse first. And that's the whole idea
(05:36):
with my race source. It is ay intimate experiences, you
know with a as an owner, but really with the
horse itself. They get so excited, ye and and really
are devoted to these horses that they all own a
share or two of.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
In my goodness, just in the time that I've been
at Old Friends, he's the gray one, the the previous
And I went down later the well early the next
year's early this year to the Pegasus at golf Stream.
He had a big tenth set up. Never must have
been three or four hundred of the my race horse people.
(06:16):
They're just you know, having a big time drinking a beer,
having the hot dogs and wearing the buttons of the
various horses they had running that day. And then you know, boy,
when they win, the Winter Circle is quite a sight.
You can't get near it. You can't get near it.
And so what you know, and Wayne lucas you know,
(06:40):
may he rest in peace. One of the last triumphs
he had was seized the Gray and he said he
just shaking his head and laughing and couldn't been happier
to see all those people in the Winter Circle the Pimlico.
So so anyway, the Winter Circle picture, you could see
him way in the background. Yes, that's right, Yeah, yeah,
there he was there.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Well, the difference in how you feel is when you're
standing there at Keenland or somewhere else with I own
a part of that horse, that's right, and I well
know where, what time, how long are we staying or something.
You know, it's just a whole different attitude. It's great, no.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
And you you all have experienced this, But there is
no better feeling than I have a horse, one of
your horses win. Oh my lord, I say a home
bridge when you oh yeah, raised a home bridge, you know. Yeah,
we're not happy every now and then yeah. Well course
in your case, they're shouting our soul, our soul ours
from the crowd. And now not everybody gets that, but
(07:43):
when we're out of town, it's it's like that was
the last my last winter at and that was out
of Keenan Kan. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
And your brother was in the picture too, wind picture. No,
he likes you can see that.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Yeah, I grabbed him. I was running down to the
getting the picture and I just grabbed me. Come on,
you know, and say less it's hurt Okay, you know.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Well the party is Friday night and it's it's a
fundraiser four old friends given by my race source, which
is just what a what a wonderful partnership that is,
and all their folks are coming out. But everybody is welcome. Now.
The tickets are are one hundred and fifty dollars. We're
gonna have some pretty They're going to have some stars there,
(08:29):
some notable people we know. We know Wesley Ward and
Victor Espinosa, an Acrocrado and some others wow yet to
be named. Uh are going to be there, great silent auction,
good music, good good UH buffet and you're gonna hang
out with Silver Charm you're gonna hang out, big Brown,
(08:50):
You're gonna hang out without having another love of man
and everybody's they're all going to be dressed up for
the party. And so go to our website, old friend
equine dot com and see if you can get a ticket. Yeah,
and I won't hear you off Friday night.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
That's great, what a great idea. What time is it
it is?
Speaker 2 (09:12):
I'm sure I can remember at seven pm as I
looked at my phone seven.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
It's still light at seven and that.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Yeah, yeah, good it is? Yeah, change November that weekend
in November first and second that's Sunday at second, so
it's like two o'clock in the morning on Sunday the change, and.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
So get up at two o'clock.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
You get that out of sleep back. Yeah, and then
I'll be driving uh in the in the bright sunlight
when I come to see you on Saturday mornings. Yeah,
how about that? Yeah? Is that right?
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yeah? I think that. Then it begins. I have the
darker earlier, lighter earlier, I think is the way that works.
I think fall back? Yeah, yeah, now I know we
get more sleep this time.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Yeah, I get my hour back. I'm moan and groan
and complain off spring all.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Now you'll be back in a good Moody's been grumpy
for six months. Now get that back.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Well, that's so good. I just think that's much fun.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
I'm excited about it. And what you're right, what a
good group. It represents all the things, all the good
things that are happening in racing now, and there are
good things, and it just I just love that it.
What it's going to do is that we've got all
these thousands and thousands of people who come and and
just and everybody comes away happy. They just do. They
(10:38):
come away and this gives our visitors a chance to
own a thoroughbred race horse without without you know, mortgaging
the retirement account or anything, and allows them to participate
and by doing that they will make a donation and
(11:00):
two old friends. Part part of that goes back.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
I wonder how many horses they've got out there now,
because they're always coming up with another one, you know,
and easily they're well bred and they're going to big time.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Trainers all right. You know. It kind of runs the gambit,
which is the front of it too. Yeah, and you
keep up with the ones that are you know, struggling
a little bit, and you keep up the ones that
are just conquering the world. We've got Laneway out there.
It had a nice, very nice career. And it's funny,
(11:34):
you know, late Laneway that is not necessarily I'm the
you know, right at the center of the action with
Silver Charm and Big Brown and the others. But we
get a lot of requests can I can I go
see Laneway? And because they're a Marstrokes, I'm the owner,
you know, can I go see my horse?
Speaker 1 (11:52):
And well we've got too of the of the horses
of yeah, and the one to my racehorses.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Now when we gave them for presents to Patrick.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
And Esther one each.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Oh, and then they get all the feed and the
email and all that kind of stuff and tough. Now
I didn't make it. He just didn't. So he's been
trained at some nice farm where you know, we trained,
and now they're going to find a home for him.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, that's and that's great, and everybody follows that just
how much you know what's gonna happen? Now, what do
you think he'd make? Will you make a good jumper
or you know or yeah something you know, Well.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
It's good to know they just don't dump them, that's right.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
And and I'll tell you that's a good point, Jackie,
because this is very You couldn't have a stronger statement
from my racehorse of their commitment to aftercare. Yes, stand
a partner with old old friends. And I know they
have relationships with other organizations as well as well they
should and that's just that's just great.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yeah, and it makes it great Christmas present. I mean
a fun thing. Open that up and well, I know, I.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Guarantee you they have they don't you know that'll be
a unique present.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Yes, it is. Well, our other one started in one
is first start a thirty six thousand dollars purse, I
can't remember, huh. And but then he got hurt for
some Yeah, but now he's back. He's just had his
last work. I think he starts somewhere on the twenty ninth.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
They'll send us bulletins and then I forward the bulletins
to Brussels.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
You know it.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
It's Patrick forrest Eschers is the one. I don't know
how they divvied it up. I don't care, but they've
still got one competing. Yeah, it's is just now you
couldn't give a nicer, more fun gift. Exactly.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
It's just and unique.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
I'm telling you that's that's just great.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Yep. Yeah, there's no doubt. So we're gonna have fun
on Friday night. Look forward to everybody being there.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Now, traditionally, when is it to officially help the tours?
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I forget that, you know, I should know this off
the top of my head. We begin to wind down
the first part of November, and by Thanksgiving we're we're
not doing tours except for special special still call you
can call it. I want to arrange a private tour
and we'll do that. Reading stock single start in November,
(14:34):
and that's usually in the middle of those breading the
stock sing is when the changes. Yeah yeah, weather tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Oh yeah, must be nasty late tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
I was checking because of them. Or no, that's right,
we're Saturday, aren't we. It is tomorrow? Yeah? Yeah. Comes
after the football game tonight, Yeah, the key phrase being
after the game. That's when the wind comes and play
tonight they played Texas. Oh I know, yeah, but I'm
(15:09):
gonna I'm gonna going got good tickets. I've got I'm
a season ticket holder with my sons, and we we
are just die hard. We're tap be lievers. We're gonna
go uh one of these years.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
You know, do you tailgate or do you not? We're
a little past.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
I used to tell gate when I was younger, and
certainly did when I was in school there in a
big way, but not not as much now. We've got
I got a nice parking ticket from a ticket parking
pass from a good friend of ours at the K E.
(15:50):
T parking lots.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
So that's right there, and that works out, works out
very well.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Yeah, that's that is good. We used to have basketball
tickets and we have to park in the dark of
the transy.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
You know.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
That was Yeah, that was a hike and do the
hike down. Yeah it wasn't terrible, but you know still, the.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
First day Jack and I ever had was I took
her to a football game.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Really, yes, did we win or lose? We'll say you
were smitten. He was so smitten he couldn't you know.
He wasn't paying attention to the game. Oh yeah, yeah,
And I was scared to dad. Yeah. This was after
my first wife had passed away and I hadn't This
is the first date I've had. How long and I
(16:40):
figured I was safe going to a football game. Okay
he was was he? Yeah, he was safe. Well that's it,
it's it. Well, whatever it did, it worked, you know.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Yeah, that's fun.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Yeah. Who would have what would that have been like
in the eighties or yeah, eighties Jerry Clayburn was a coach,
oh man, some decent teams.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Who was the Italian guy before that?
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Fran Cercy he is still doing fine. He's a friend
of he's actually a friend of Jana, and I'm a
jan in particular. And I think fran is like eighty
five but going which is young as we know Ursel,
but he's going strong. And he saw him at a
golf tournament last year and is that right? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:28):
I met him once.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
I just that's why I can't remember his name. He's
still he still is very supportive and active for his
teams that he coached here, especially that seventy eight team
that was ten and one. And yeah, yeah, Derek Ramsey
a year was that seventy eight? Oh that's interesting And
I actually all that on the seven I get to
(17:51):
get it exactly right. Seven. It was quite a football
blue and he's a great football player and a good guy.
He's a good friend of Jan and Ius as well.
And now he is uh, he's got a house here
in Lexington, in the house at Lake Cunbland, and he
is you know, he's was a government official for both
(18:11):
in the Bevan administration and the Fletcher administration. And the
Bevan administration he was the Secretary of Labor and Economic Development,
a workforce development and it was a real promoter of
the idea of apprentice workships and apprentice programs and some
kind of vocational efforts for kids, getting corporations to pay
(18:36):
for vocational education. It's real, real, you know, real big
thinker that way. And as you know, just I think,
continue to serve Kentucky, always giving him back and uh
that's that's the way. Derek is still the leader of
that football team. They still you know, they still looked
(18:58):
it was yeah, he quarterback, didn't he He was quarterback
in college and then switched the tight end and the
pros played for the Raiders and uh and for the Patriots,
is that right?
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Yeah, good for him, big guy, I mean, big heat
from you, Reckon. He was originally from Florida and when uh,
when he was from a little town in Florida and
they recognized an uncommon football talent and he ended up
moving with his coach to New Jersey. And I'm trying
(19:34):
to think of where exactly in the New Jersey. I've
heard him tell the story one hundred times, but to
a bigger high school. He and his buddy Art Still
got together there and they were they were kind of
a package. How about that.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
That's interesting.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
We got Art, yeah, and Art still Art is still.
Art still is still in the community and doing and
doing good things, good as well, good guy, my fun stuff. Yeah, absolutely,
matter of fact. Interesting. Well, I'm going to be at
kinglyin tomorrow with Derek Cramsey. Derek and his very lovely
life wife Lee Wow, are going to be in a
(20:10):
little group with Jana and I nice. Yeah, now that
you mentioned that, So I will Derek, if you're tuned in,
looking forward to seeing you, And if you're not, I'm
going to tell y'all to send him our best, that
our soul. And Jackie said, and Jackie Adam and even
that's like.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
We went to a Bob Copelan.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I don't know, ninety eight year old private birthday or something.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Anyway, there were Bob went to Ohio State. I went
to Ohio State one year. Okay, me and Jerry Lucas,
and that was the biggest bunch of athletes, Jack and
so there at Nicholson And of course they didn't know
me from a load of coal. I mean I'd see
(20:58):
him walking across the camp. Was with their little group
of admirers, you know. Yeah, so somebody was here, several
people were here for Bob's birthday.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
From Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
And I told him, I said, oh, yeah, Jerry Lucas was.
Guy said, wait a minute, he's good friend of ours.
I'll call him up so you can say hi. He
said he didn't know me. I mean, you know, it
was just one of those great memories.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Well, I'll State had some great, great teams backed Jerry Lucas.
There were kind of rivals with University of Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeahincinnati beat him in the big old Yeah Oscar Robins.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Wow did I you beat him at home? Ye? At
the old Coliseum Monroe. But it's amazing. Who was it?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Was it? Bobby Knight and handle Check with all that team.
They were the ones on that team.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
They had great teams.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
The football team didn't get together the Rose Bowl because
they got caught cheat.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Oh all, it's an injustice.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Wasn't pete.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
It was a little cheat. Well that's what usually get you.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
I said, Hey, I'm only going to be a freshman
here for one year.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Let's go well the lesson and asked, we're going to cheat,
go big? The exactly all right, let me do it
commercially here on bat note. On that note didn't take

you know, of course he was a Western guy, you know,
and he had some literally had that saddle at the
(28:20):
How much it go for? Well it was interesting. Everything
went for a lot. Yeah, and the boots were like,
I mean fancy, fancy, but they were eleven and a
half or twelve and a half or something like that.
And I heard people say, boy, I'd love to have those,
but I you know, one guy said, I'd be swimming
in that thing, you know. And so the bot I
(28:44):
think the boots went, but not for they were like
market value. Everything else was just over the over the
moon extensive. Michael and I went out there and so
let's go out and have lunch and maybe we'll pick
up something about Carsmatic for example. You know it's really
yeah like his you know, his the stall tact that
(29:06):
you know has winner of this that you know, de
Wayne Lucas trainer, so forth and so on. And we
were quickly out of our out of our league. Yeah,
and but it was fun to see see people there
and the I mean the people were bidding a lot
of money on just fun stuff, all tack boxes.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
And things like that and that what the tech box goes, remember.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
I mean thousands, I mean liquors. Yeah, I mean it's
gosh yeah with with his initials on him, but you
know it's that's a conversation piece for yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Yeah, some id love to have that.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Yeah, And so it was Tom Biderman was doing his
usual good job at auctioning, and yeah, it was you know,
vigorous bidding and and just a lot of a lot
of memorabilia, a lot of pictures, thumb trophies, but you know,
just a lot of a lot of stuff he had
(30:05):
he had in his home and had in this barn.
It was pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Do you remember what to saddle one for? No?
Speaker 2 (30:11):
I don't know. I bet that was a lot of talking, huizing,
but but they were all everybody was shaking their heads.
And how you know how big the prices were?
Speaker 1 (30:24):
That's good? Who got the money?
Speaker 2 (30:27):
You know, that's a good question. I I don't know
if that went to one of his charities or I'd
say it's ultimately going to go to one of his
mad Yeah, maybe he went to his wife. Huh, not
that you would need it. I went to the memorial
(30:47):
service at Churchill Downs, which is very you know a
lot of laughter tears type thing, you know, and his grandson,
who's a major in the Air Force, spoke very eloquently
and movingly. And then, uh, mister Lucas's last horse was
Major Blue, who was named after his grandson.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Oh what about that?
Speaker 2 (31:11):
That's interesting.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Yeah, that's nice.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
And Major Blue is now the latest retiree at Old
Trim at Old Yeah, that's nice. Uh, he did and
and was hadmonished success. I'm not sure what I think
he won a couple hundred thousand something like that, but
it was you know that that was the last the
(31:35):
last horse. And he is also being groomed now to
be Lava Man's new roommate, new paddock mate. Oh, I'm
going to see how that goes. Yeah, LoVa Man's relationships
have been kind of hit and miss. Is that right,
does pretty well for a while, and then he'll fall
out with his roommate and uh, and that that doesn't work,
(31:58):
and then we have to find somebody else and oh
that's funny. And then he's by himself and he does
that pretty well for a while, and then he gets antsy,
like you want somebody in his paddock? And so isn't
that major police? The next, the next, the next one.
How many mayors have you got like in paddocks? I
think we've got between fifteen and twenty in that range,
(32:19):
is that right? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Are they on the hill like up the hill.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
On the Iron Works Pike side? Oh, so if you
drive yeah, you drive past the farm and make that
right on the iron works. They're on that quadrant of
the farm.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Oh okay, I see, and then you can you go
in there? Is there somebody there?
Speaker 2 (32:39):
There's we've got a gate there, Gate three. I like
it because it makes it sound really fancy. Well that's
gate three of the farm. But I mean, if somebody
wants to go see him, we'll take them back there.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
It's great. Yeah, that's what I used to say. When
you get your own farm and you move in, put
a seven on that barn over there.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Oh, barn seven. That's a great idea. Yeah yeah, oh yeah, yeah,
it's barn barn seven, so we don't get get our
barns confused. Yeah, that's that's Can we put a number
on the run in ship?
Speaker 1 (33:17):
I guess that. Well, it's funny. We used to have
a good time. Somebody said, what do you arsa?
Speaker 2 (33:25):
What are you going to name your farm?
Speaker 1 (33:27):
He said, I don't know. He said, let's the bank
name it.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Then.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Yeah, well I'll tell you've got a beautiful place place
out here. I love central Kentucky. Well it is, isn't
it gorgeous? It is? I was telling that we had
our weekly staff meeting yesterday, and and I was kind
of talking. I said, you know, guys, we we are
(33:56):
spoiled living here. Oh yeah, And and I I appreciate
living here. When I go around the tours for people
who aren't from here are just so I hate to
use the word envious, but they are saying to us,
my goodness, you're lucky to live in a place like
(34:17):
this and to be surrounded by all these horses. And
I was just saying, to our grief, I said, let's
don't take that for granted. To every day we get
to go out and be in the presence of these
all these horses, but I mean, the great ones. It's
a privilege and it's kind of every day for us,
(34:39):
but for other people from around the country and the
world to come in and you get to feed a
carrot to big Brown is something they talk about forever exactly,
and it's you know, it's not something that happens every
day that it's perfect that you can feed it, feed
(35:00):
the carrot to the one of the greatest athletes in
their sport and history.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Yeah, kind of watch that again, was right? Oh yeah,
he said, I didn't know if you bring the horses
that here the people will come to see him. He
was absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah, he said till prari He says that his phrase is,
and he does it on our video. He says, I
just thought I couldn't be the only nuts around here.
It turns out there there are plenty of other nuts, exactly,
Thankfully there are plenty of other nuts.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
And well it is Bill Vannon doing is. He's still
got a plenty for you guys.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Still he is still takes care of our farm that's
right across the road on Ironworks. And Bill is. Bill
is in good form, good always he is. He's he's
an entertaining feature of our staff meetings. Yes, you have
a hell of a Ressian in Midway. Yeah he did.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Remember he had a van service called the Flying Dutchman.
Isn't that right?
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Yeah about that? Yeah, I remember the Goose and Gander, right,
was that the name of it? What was the name
of that.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Place, the black Tulip, Black, that's good.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
I remember the names of saloons, the dousing Gander now
or the Great Goose now, something like that. But but
if that's right, the Black Dula.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Then they were having a party over there, Michael, was
you remember that Black tulip, and he said you all
be sure to show up, and I said, all right,
all right, So we walk in when I had a
check for one hundred dollars and not put it in
the pot thert.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
And went on. I found out it was the party
was from my birthday. I want to say, I'm over
getting one hundred dollars, gotcha, I bet you that's the
first thing you said that happy birthday? Or saw well
do I get my damn hundred dollars?
Speaker 1 (37:08):
By I was pretty much well.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
I didn't find out who they brought the cake out.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
That was a fun place and it was nice.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Yeah, food was great. That's my horse park days. I
used to take people over there.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Yeah, that's I don't know. I think of any business,
a restaurant's the hardest to hold on to and making
over and over.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Over the years. Tough business.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
It seems like they're real successful, but I don't know
what it is about.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
I got to catch up here, guys.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Okay, ketch up, all right?
Speaker 3 (37:42):

(40:11):
belt from clueing what your name tag on it.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Gotta have it, gotta have it, gotta have it.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Absolutely and Christmas is coming.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
I mean, how will people know who you are?
Speaker 1 (40:20):

Speaker 2 (40:20):
How will people know who you are unless you.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Just exactly and how do you know who you are?
You come falling out of some irish that's right. Yeah,
so you've got to keep get a handle on it.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
It's a practical different.
Speaker 1 (40:34):

Speaker 2 (40:37):
They're beautiful or.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
So, how will your leather built? You've had that thing
for a gazillion years. They don't wear out and they

Speaker 1 (41:01):
It's forty five bucks. And then they have the inch
and a quarter ranger belt, which is a buckle smaller
buckle over the top of the belt leather and that's
kind of fancy, you know. And then they have another
one you can get it with the what do they
(41:22):
creased that's what they call it. They crease down the
edge of the each side.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
Of the lower classy. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
Yeah, and that nice.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
But I'm seeing the picture of it that is really nice.
Speaker 1 (41:34):
Yeah, that is really nice and I'll tell you them. Fum.
We got a couple of years ago, more than a couple.
We got jingle bells. They make small and large leather.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
Uh what do you call them? Jingle bells?
Speaker 1 (41:51):
We got one with put on the front door. Somebody
comes in for Christmas. It just jingles. It's in here
some but I'm not sure. You have to go online
quote dot com? Now how many more?
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Two more? Uh?
Speaker 1 (42:08):
Sales coming up? That's all.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
That's where all the rest stock took. A couple of
breading stocks.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Yeah, so that's where they are going on now tip.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
Yeah, you get those really good looking halters sale halters.
I mean, nobody would send somebody into them big hot
sale like that with a crummy halt.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Oh no, considering all the work that goes in prep
for the those forces. And uh. Then I go to
your buddy. Those damn geese fly I just do not
like them.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
I just do John's favorite.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
Yeah, the geese, man, they knew I was here. Yeah,
they probably left Claven and came over here just for
the hell of it. That's that's right, that's funny.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
Well, and also they've got twitches.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
So there there you go. We were there. We went
to see some see some horses in Bourbon County up
by Carlisle and we came back. So let's let's stop.
We have lunch at Lil's. Yeah, and I'm just walking
down the street. We stopped in mcquillan's and just so
(43:27):
impressive and you could just spend hours in there. Yeah,
and with all the things they've done, I've got some
breaking breaking news here. We unleashed the research staff of
Horsetails and the director of research for Horsetails, as you know,
is Bo Robinson and his team reports that that football
(43:48):
coach that we were trying to think of, it was
Charlie Bradshaw. There, Charlie Bradshaw, he was the coach of
the ten thirty and at that time. And then and
then also I have received word that I that I
had it wrong. It's not seven o'clock next Friday. It's
five thirty.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Oh good.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
I think the silent auction ends at seven maybe yeah,
and we'll end at seven. So I saw the seven
and got mixed up. It's five thirty to eight thirty,
So come right after work and.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Yeah, because it's it'll get dark, but it'll.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
Be still late for that five thirty will still be
still wonderful, good idea going then get your bids down
on the silent auction that will end at seven. So
I'm getting it. I'm getting it together. Thank thank you
for our one of our listeners that I messed up.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
Well good, great, that's better. But anyway, quillen to you
like l LN dot com. Great, it's okay, said, well,
you were over in the Paris, what did you think
of the Sunday side I was thing up on the building.
Speaker 2 (45:02):
Wasn't that great? Uh? That is, I mean so so special,
And I understand the thing with that that Arthur attended
kind of unvailing of it was really really special, uh
as well, and you know very moving. Paris has done
just such a great job of embracing their heritage with
(45:24):
with horses, and it's a it's a special treat just
to go just to go to downtown Paris and see
all the all the statues and the murals that are
on the side of the door. Arthur was signing his
book but us from little there was frame zone mean
(45:49):
y yeah, yeah, I will tell you I recommend that book.
It's a Arthur's book is really really good and well
written and page turner. You know, you know, you knew
if you're you know, if you're been in the around
the horse world, you knew some of the big stories
(46:10):
well you know of Sunday Silence and all. But to
hear the backstories as told so well by by Arthur
from that personal point of view, it's a it's a
good one, right, yes, sir, absolutely right. He can sing, sing, and.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
Play, can write music.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
Yeah, and I didn't. I knew he was talented with
the you know, playing, but I had one other thing
I can see about him. He's a good guy. Yeah,
that's it. He had a good guy factor. But he
was pretty well connected to the whole Nashville music scene,
all those all those guys. Yeah, he really really was.
(46:55):
There was the shame there wasn't more of Arthur. There's
not more of Arthur to go around, exactly. It's not
a good stuff. Yeah, and you you are very correct.
A good guy.
Speaker 1 (47:07):
Yeah, that was nice he made. It's a picture of
him at the thing on the front page of the
Paris paper or weekly, yes, weekly. Yeah, my dolly got
to catch up with who got arrested and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Well, w e a k oh.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
Anyway, I had I lived in a town once. It
was so small. The top half of the front page.
Dolly Parton was coming and she was going to have
a concert. And they had a uh sign out front
Dolly Parton's coming, and somebody stole it.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
Dolly part sign.
Speaker 3 (47:57):
Yes, And.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
The thing on the newspaper said, bold thieves steal Dolly
Purton picture. It's a newspaper, the whole front page.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
I could see it.
Speaker 1 (48:12):
It was so funny.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
I could see that. You know, we're talking about unveilings
and things like that. Last week I went to to
the Cody's Wish unveiling. The statue of Cody's wish. It's
a horse park. Yeah, where is it? It's right, It's
beautifully located in the right by the Haul of Champions.
And if you know the horse park, there's kind of
(48:35):
a triangle of the big Barn, the Breed's Barn, the
Haul of Champions, and it's suitably, inappropriately and aptly put
right there in the middle. You know, there's statues in
their statues. This is a moving plaza and they did
a great, an interesting and great thing. You know, the
(48:58):
picture of Cody Cody Dorman with in the wheelchair, with
being nuzzled by a coach wish. Yeah, well they've taken
the horse part of that, made a sculpture out of it,
but left you as the person to be nuzzled by
the horse. And really interesting idea, very moving and the
(49:22):
very first person after the unveiling that got to be
uh nuzzled and interacting with the horse was a little
boy who had the same edition, Little kiddy. Very touching
and it's you know, got an interpretive, interpretive words all
the way around, and it's going to be a great
(49:43):
it's a great addition to the horse park. And when
they're doing a movie and they're books coming out and
the movie rights have already been sold, special time. Well,
they're in two stakes in New York, Class said and
runners by spenders Dames one both of them. The Good
Glen Cove Stakes was won by Love Severe three year
(50:04):
old Philly by and The Mischief, written known by Edward
and Beverly Seltzer. That was her third stakes win.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
And she's one of twenty one twenty twenty five stakes winners.
By in the Mischief, who's lead over the nation's second
ranked sires over.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
Five million dollars now.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
He's also the leading sire of twenty twenty five graded
stakes winners were fifteen and Grade one stakes winners with five.
While we're at it, let me point out that the
nation's leading first Cop Shire the Open stands at Spinthrie.
So there's the number one ranked second Cop Sire but
Cooma and number one ranked third Cop Sire Omaha Beach
(50:41):
the other stakes winner. Other stakes run last Saturday in
New York was one hundred and fifty thousand dollars Artist
Sugar and it was won by Major Duds by both
dor Major Dude that has won five stakes now four
of them graded stakes and over a million four hundred
and eighteen thousand. He was great by Clear Sky Farms
(51:01):
and he was sold at Saratoga was a Uning for
five hundred and fifty thousand. A Grade one winner and millionaire.
Boat Dure was the nation's leading Freshman's South of his year.
He signed nine twenty twenty five stakes winners, seventeen during
Black Sye. He is one of one hundred and eighty
two stakes winners by the superior Sima Dalidoro and he's
(51:22):
out of the ap Indiemy Globe Trot damn A two
Grade one winners Great Pedigree Boat Yours living up to
it from all on the sands over at Spencery Farm,
the breeders farm called my friend dez of Brian or
Mark or Daniel at a five nine two nine fours
years zero thirty and the website is spencer farm dot com.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
Okay, thank you, it's time to say a few words
round our buddy Hill Parker. He's a horse farm land specialist,
full time relator, partner, principal broker, don and none and no.
Now what that means, ins is when you do all
that stuff, you know, all about the zoning and regulations
(52:05):
and state and local and all that jazz. We know
he knows all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
That's a given.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
What you've got to remember is he's a horse farm
specialist and he's a horseman. Years of experience training everything
from jumpers to racehorses, steeplechasers.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (52:28):
I mean he knows the front and back of the
horse business, that's for sure. In fact, he bought I
think he bought sixteen acres out behind the training center
so he can just cross over and train there. It's
a great idea. He's what this means to you if
(52:49):
you are looking to buy a farm, you have to
figure out what the property is for. Are you gonna
bread or train or sell or well, there's all kind
of questions to ask for different answers. Breeding requires a
different layout and stuff than training and so on. And
(53:12):
then what are you going to do down the road
If you want a marina for something, your kid grows
up and she wants an arena, Okay, you can do that.
That can be working too. The plans and then the
barns and the stalls and all that kind of stuff
(53:32):
where you're gonna store they That is so important. All
of it's important. And if you don't know, if you're guessing,
are you just putting plunking stuff down, you're going to
be in trouble because you'll be leading the mayor right
by the teaser paddock and none.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
If you ought not to do that, not to do
that now? All right?
Speaker 3 (53:54):
Well, the best best way to get in touch with
with Hill is as one as you go to is
Website's a great website lex horse Farms dot com and
he and rigging the new business together over there. Hill's
cell number is eighty five nine number six year eight
eighty thirty nine. Great people, great horsemen, and just to
(54:17):
the nine and fief we ever want to meet. That's
Hill and Riggin Parker of Elect's Horse Farms dot Farm
in Lexington.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
Don't your website's great that you go out. Yes, it's
a good website. Do one of those.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
I wish I had some.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
Oh, I'm gonna look at that. That's yeah, that's good. Well.
Hill represents the fact that we are the horse capital
of the world, right and there is so much diversity
in the horse world in central Kentucky. Now, all you
have to do is drive between where we are now
in Midway, you know, or to Frankfurt Pike, and you'll
(54:54):
see every kind of operation in the world, in the world.
You know your third bread breeding and you know the
classic third red farms, all these equestrian farms, all these
hunter and a venting, and I know everything in between.
And so in each one of those, like you're saying,
(55:14):
has special needs and special things you need to think about.
And Hill's an example of somebody that knows all of it.
Speaker 1 (55:23):
He's done it all, he's done it all, done it all.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
And I want to think, by the way, Donna of
our wonderful staff at Old Friends, who was the listener
who was kind enough to remind me that it was
five point thirty nine seven. He's really great. She does
all the work for us to be accredited by the TAA,
the Third Red Aftercare Alliance. Oh good. And boy, you
talk about a process. It's a foot thick the paperwork
(55:51):
that you have to go through, and as it should be,
you know, any you can't have people just saying I'm
a Third Red retirement place and you don't know about
really whether they're giving in the right kind of care
or not. And that's the truth. And they really investigate
and they make you jump through a lot of hoops
and they should and yeah, and it's a we're proud
to be a credit by the t a A. But
(56:13):
but Donna is the one that does all the legwork
for that. And especially when you're like old friends and
you have five farms, that's you know, and you've got
to provide all the information about every every single one
of them. And I'm glad she's doing that. She does great,
She does great job. And she keeps me straight on
what time a party starts that everybody, that's right, that's hell,
(56:42):
that's the important thing. Yeah, that's that's right. Exactly.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
Well, are you going to the Breeders Cup.
Speaker 2 (56:50):
I am not. That was a last minute and decision.
You know, we got the Breeders Cuff coming here next year,
and I'm going to go to something I haven't I've
not in my years, have not done that. I think
if I'm going to travel a great deal, this is
the better place for me to travel. And that's to
the to the Racetrack Symposium at Arizona exactly. That that
(57:15):
happens every December where they really get together, uh, a
lot of leadership and discuss roundtable discussions on where we're
at on all this, you know, on all our big issues,
what's the future going to hold? That? I interesting speakers
and everybody's kind of it's one of those places where
people kind of give their thoughts about things, and I'm
(57:38):
gonna I'm going to do that. That's the first week
and December. Yeah, and make sure that aftercare. I think
aftercare is going to be discussed a lot, which is great.
That's something that wouldn't have happened twenty years ago. And
yet another compliment to Michael blowing that he you know,
shone a light on this whole, this whole issue of
(58:00):
aftercare unbelievable. So there'll be a lot of discussions out there,
and we're going to weigh out on our thoughts about things. Man,
I'm going to do that.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
Well, I was trying to think next week. It's Michael,
and are you going to come follow if you're in
town the following week?
Speaker 2 (58:18):
And I think, yes, I am in town. All right,
that's just what I wanted to. Yeah, make sure we
keep your chair here, and you know, well, thank you.
I appreciate having this chair here. Good.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Get a press nameplate for your following up chair.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
I will feel like I have a long last arrived
that I've got it right right. What see that our
palatial studios here looking out this beautiful farm. So life
is good.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
Life is good. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (58:54):
So I'm going to scoot out. I'm heading to the farm. Yeah,
I got stuff going on today, So sallow, that is
mister Scully going to join us today, I certainly hope.
So okay, Yeah, a.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
Lot of racing boys, lots of fun stuff.
Speaker 2 (59:07):
Well I'm gonna get my pencil out and get all
the winners from there. You go, Okay, thank you so much.
We'll find out if James has gone. I'm sure he is.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
Gonna talk about Airdred and then we're going to get James,
our good friend, James Scully, and to give us a
winner or two. Everybody needs one.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
Anyway. Well, the air Dress stallions collected Gervin and up
Stark sided stakes winners last weekend. Vy Bear is a
four yearl full of a collected one of the Swing
Time Stakes at Santa Nito. Other twenty twenty five stakes
winners but collected include thought Process, one of the Grade
two San Clemente at sant Anita, man Citi, one of
(59:48):
the Grade three Woodstock steaks, and of the one million
dollar King's Plate, the most coveted steaks in Canada. I
can't get used to calling it the King's Plate. Through
all my lifetime, it was just that was the Queen's course. Well, anyway,
it's the same race has changed changed, Sexius. How's that? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
Anyway, then there's graded place. Little Jamie winning the way
with the last stakes at Tampa Bay collected a Grade
one winner to Medion nine hundred and seventy five thousand
dollars east Side nineteen stakes win of his first three crops.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
Gerwin is the.
Speaker 3 (01:00:23):
Sire of Dazzling Name when October eleventh rather one hundred
thousand dollars White Clay Creek States at Delaware. She has
also won the Seraate Stakes at Mamouth and three of
her four starts. Gerwin is already a proven Grade one sire.
His Dorf Vader has won the twenty twenty five running
of the Ogden Fifth Stakes at Saratoga. And then, of
(01:00:46):
course there's Falsest, who won Grade one steaks out in California.
Gerwin won a Grade one A Haskell Invitational and a million,
six hundred and twenty four thousand dollars Upstart side the
winner of the two stakes last weekend. The found Dollar
Display Stakes at Woodbine went to Jupiter, a two year
old that earlier we run second in one hundred and
(01:01:06):
twenty five thousand dollar Victoria six of Woodbine. And then
this zip Start, a three yeld shilly be up Start
she won the West Virginia Breeders' Classic Stakes. That was
a third stakes win. She's earned over one hundred and
eighty four thousand. Upstart himself earned a million, seven hundred
and thirty two thousand. He's approven Grade one story. As
(01:01:27):
a matter of fact, his leading money winner is xend
on Zandan won Grade one stakes, earned a too million,
two hundred thousand dollars and she was bred by Eddristudd.
Found a burden see Jones had raised right there on
Erdrestudd from more on the Sands that Eddre Stuod just
called Shannon o'Kyle at eighty five nine eighty seven, three
(01:01:48):
seventy two seventy and the website is edrestood dot com.
Whether Kentucky handicap of sheet is available? And hopefully we
got James Scully to tell us a little bit of
about what's going on over Boostock. We started information services. James,
are you with us today?
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
M thank you?
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
Are you there?
Speaker 3 (01:02:19):
James? H?
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
H Is that okay? James? Good morning?
Speaker 5 (01:02:30):
Hey, good morning, ursul.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
By. How are you doing this morning?
Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
I am doing really good. Just gonna be another beautiful
day in the Bluegrass, and I'm gonna have a good
racing program in Queenland. Steaks graded steaks both for sprinters
to Perryville and the Raven Run for three year old phillies.
And uh, I guess sound looks like the weather is
(01:02:58):
going to be good. Uh for more day to day
and then one more week of racing and then draw
the Breeders' Cup. Pre entries will be released on Wednesday,
so we'll have an idea where horses are entered and
cross entered, and we'll start looking for closer to looking
more towards the Breeders' Cup. But I do want to
(01:03:18):
tell everybody out there that if you're going to be
any handicapping information or thoroughbred information, bristnet dot com is
the place to go. We have got all kinds of reports,
handicapping analysis, tip sheets, workout reports and more. We've got
past performances, data files, pedigree information, American produce records, brisnet
(01:03:42):
dot com. It's the handicappers edge.
Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Very good, good well.
Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
I think, yeah, Mattsvilly is gonna be really tough.
Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
Ragcon.
Speaker 5 (01:04:01):
She's gonna be tough if anybody has a chance to
beat her. I like that number seven made for Brittany Russell.
That Philly is very intriguing. She's won three in a
row from Maryland and Delaware and her numbers are real strong.
But it's tough to go against the favorite in there.
That Ragtime. I really liked her winning the Grade three Dogwood.
(01:04:22):
I thought she might get it. Phillia mayor sprint off
of that race, but he'll point her for that race
next year as a four year old. And it looks
like there's plenty of speed in there to set the
table for number nine ragtime in the raven run.
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Okay, all right, that's everybody write that down. I'm sure
rest is somewhere. We're writing that down right now.
Speaker 5 (01:04:46):
I'll give you one other horse one race earlier. Race
eight today is a turf allowance and I number nine
Genius Jimmy in there. He's fifteen to one.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
On the morning line.
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
You know, even if he doesn't win, he might pay
good if he runs second or third. But he gets
he gets John Velaskaz he won nine of his first
thirty one starts at Keeenland. He won five races on
that first Saturday of the meet. And Michael McCarthy trains
this gelding and yeah, he's, you know, one of the
(01:05:18):
better trainers out there, Michael McCarthy. So I'm gonna look
for Genius Jimmy to run well at race eight, number nine.
Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
Okay, that's great. Oh, anything else you can tell us
now a little bit more about what what you got
coming up for Britain Net.
Speaker 5 (01:05:36):
Yes, We're gonna have a Breeders Cup Ultimate Handicapping and
package at Brissett dot com. Gonna offer past performances, tip sheets,
some Breeders Cup primer materials and more and have more
details about that. This just coming this next weekend, but yeah,
(01:05:58):
look for that at percent dot com. And yeah, we're
gonna have all these expert handicappers for vide picks and
I'm gonna have like I said, workout report information and more.
So I'm getting really excited. Uh, you know, this year's
Breeders' Cup Classic Ursul, it's gonna have a really strong
(01:06:19):
field and I'm excited to see solid he running against
these older horses like Fierceness and Sierra Leone as well
as Forever Young come over from Japan. So it's promising
to be a dynamite Breeders Cup Classic at del Mar
on November first.
Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
Yeah, kind of looking forward to that one. That's just
wide open.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
It really really is.
Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
You know, the Euros will be really tough in the
turf and uh, but there's a you know, I think
the juvenile came up good. We got some two year
olds like that Ted Naffert. No, for you, we tell
run a Keelan and then Bathens course has several or
under consideration for the juvenile so that division looks pretty good.
(01:07:10):
Early horses, the two year olds that hope to develop
into Kentucky Derby contenders next spring, that division looks pretty good.
So I'm excited to see both of those races. Those
THESS can be a little bit of a measuring stick,
and only I always think about past editions of the
Breeder's Cup, and the first thing I think about was
that year's classic. And obviously you know a lot. There's
(01:07:32):
there's been some years where it wasn't much to think about,
and then there's been some really good ones as well.
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Yeah, okay, well, I guess you you can pick at
Kentucky Handicaps sheet up at the Red Mile out there,
can't you?
Speaker 5 (01:07:49):
You can, yeah, at the Red Mile. We've got it
at some locations where they tell the racing form, and
we also have uh other tip sheets as well, like
the scratchheet available. But they touch your handicappers good because
you get analysis on every single horse as well as
(01:08:10):
a little betting strategy, and it lifts a whole bunch
of wagers. Suggested wagers that the handicapper is gonna be poying.
Speaker 3 (01:08:19):
Great people over there. Really appreciate them the services you
provide to me. And I couldn't. I couldn't do a
radio show with that bloodstock research. I'll tell you that
right now.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
And the first thing I wanted to do is go
to it and lucas forward to continually.
Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
And I hope you and Jackie have a great rest
of your weekend, and I'll talk to you all next week.
Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
Okay, my friend, good talking to you.
Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
Thanks so so PLA.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
All right, at James, it's so much fun to.
Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
Talk to heself thinking, aren't strives the crazy? And I'm
sitting here. Every time I turn on you know, every
time I turn on my phone, I get an ad
for how to keep from forgetting stuff, and I think,
oh my god, I drink all the honey in the world.
(01:09:19):
I wouldn't come up with.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
Oh, I know what you're talking about, exactly, exactly exactly. Well,
let's see what we've got coming up today. Take a
look at the stakes or two. Of course, he likely
gave us a rover the Raven run out of Keenan
(01:09:41):
post time five sixteen to day. It's four hundred thousand
dollars Raven run from grade through grade two, and it's
kind of really nice feel in there. I've got a
bunch of clients with horses in there, and there's a
delightful claire of a thousand words over spendthrift and viction
them was ben through and strong State Volleyball Princess by
(01:10:05):
Motown and Motown is one of my favorite stud horses,
you know, and.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Mine and he's doing well now that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Oh and Brian Michael's got a Motown coach, you know.
And it didn't read that Merrimac. They should have Brian Waldridge,
Brian walderch discuted.
Speaker 3 (01:10:29):
And let's see there's a reputation is by boat the
oar and usher by tis the law. These are all
clients are my simple joking, a practical joke. Vodka with
a twist, a thousand words, Kappa Kappas and Omaha beats
and then the two voocoma was on the outside. I
(01:10:50):
mean it would be. They're running a transpoint stakes grade
too up at Belmont today. Two hundred thousand for three
old fillish on a mile and eighth. It's got a
field of eight. Here's one you might like jacking and
number eight post position horse named Decadent. What decadent d
(01:11:13):
A D E c A d E n T. Why
was the name of horse decadent?
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
It was like in the Mischief for something no Bury Jones.
Breading is by Gervin.
Speaker 3 (01:11:26):
And let's see also in the field as an Irish
bread on a railbocal Queen fast Market when Finnity like
were Selda Fold in France. Let's see because you know
you get a bunch of these farm breads. You know
that's the grass snakes right yes, ready for candy as
a twirling candy. Pretty pictures of munnings over Ashford stood.
(01:11:50):
Then the Mackenzie and Decadent is by Gervin. They're running
the Perryville Stakes out of Keeling today. It's got a
light field of six uh gaming has got the rail
by game Boy. There's a couple of in the midschiefs
in there. Taylor's virgin By in the mischief and barns
(01:12:11):
By in the minchief. And then there's a owing Almighty
by Spkestown Captain Cook a practical joke and Rolando By
by the Cooma. They're running tomorrow. They're running the Dowager
Stakes and we'll get into that later on. It's a
bunch of nice, nice kind of horses running the mistakes
(01:12:36):
races running today. I don't know about going to the
races tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
I really can't. Yeah, it's supposed to get really nasty tomorrow.
We need the rain.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
H we need the rain, but it's blowing in cooler
weather today is supposed to be in the eighties.
Speaker 2 (01:12:59):
Yeah, and tomorrow boom.
Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
Well, let's take care of our friends over at Clavern Farm.
And didn't take Annapolis long to serve notice that he
was something special. One of his first started as a
two old at Saratoga before and a quarter length. Then
he moved over to Belmont and won the Grade two
Pilgrim Stakes. In his second career start on July four,
he spented a mile and won thirty two and four
(01:13:22):
to take the Manila Stakes at Belmont and back to Saratoga.
He was a closing second and the Grade one Saratoga
Derby Invitation.
Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
Then he won the.
Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
Grade three Serenac by five and a half, came out
to Keenan and Annapolis beat older horses to win the
Grade one Kumo Turch Mile in the stakes work at
time of one thirty three and one. So an Appolis
opened a four year old season with a winner of
three hundred and found on the opening Verse Stakes at
Churchill Downs, followed by game closing second and the Grade
(01:13:55):
three Kelso and the Grade one four Star Dave Stakes
at Saratoga Hard Burns of a million, five hundred and
eighty six thousand, and he was retired to Craven stud which,
of course is the home he was internationally popular and
successful Sire War Fund warf Rounder inside one hundred and
nineteen states winners and these America's number one say by

Dam of Annapolis is the high Privet Stakes winner, Miamis
Sophia winner of the Grade two Gazelle States and placed
in three more graded states, including a second in the
Grade one Kentucky Oaks Incredible Dirt Family Annapolis is a

(01:14:41):
I take a look for them at the upcoming sales
and for more on the side over cleban Park called
Jacob West at eight five nine nine, eight seven two
three three old on the website is Clavenfarm dot com.
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
Okay, talk about my friends over at Oakwell. When we
first moved to Burnmot County, we didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Know particularly, you know, who sold insurance.
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
And who didn't, but we had plenty of friends.
Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
Here in the first place.
Speaker 1 (01:15:13):
They all said Hope Well Company. They you know, it
was just great. It was an easy decision. So URSUL
talked to Ted McClain and we've been with them ever
since and we couldn't have asked for any better service
or coverage or any of that stuff. We've been really,
(01:15:35):
really satisfied. And the Hope Wild Company, I think this
is interesting. I don't know anyway. The Hope World Company
is an independent insurance agency, which means they don't work
for an insurance company. You know, one of these worldwide things.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Has got.
Speaker 1 (01:15:55):
Some kind of a bird or something. Anyway, that means
what's interesting about that is they use they pick out
a carefully selected group of financially sounds reputable companies so
they can offer the best coverage at the best price.
(01:16:17):
So what that means is what they.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Can do is give you a.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
No cost, no obligation review and comparison of your insurance.
So you know, when you go to those big companies,
you're locked into a price. I mean, they ain't no
dickering or nothing. You just pay it or get lost.
So what you've got here is you've got choices. You
(01:16:47):
can you know, they can use two or three different
companies come up with coverage and all that stuff. It's
really good. I mean it's we had a claim, trying
to think it's been several months. Uh. And I looked
at the insurance check from the company that they used,
(01:17:08):
which was a company in Cincinnati, business about one hundred
fifty years or something. Turns out I worked for them
when I was in college. That insurance company isn't that
funny small world. But see that's who they use. People
who have done such a good job.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
They're in.
Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
Business what sixty years later?
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
My god.
Speaker 1 (01:17:32):
Anyway, so they'll give you a no cost, no no
obligation review in comparison of your insurance. They were established
in eighteen fifty five, so they got to be doing
it right.
Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
It's a full.
Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
Service insurance agency. Give them a call. Paris number nine
eight seven two three four seven better yet stopped by
the offices at Age twenty Mainstream in Parish. Can't miss it.
Just look to the right as you drive down main Street.
They are really super nice people. Smart Eno'll do a
(01:18:09):

the phone. Oh, I'll tell you what. I'll start doing
something for the Kentucky so Bed Odins and Breeders Association.
You just interrupt me if you get Brian. Okay, Okay,

Kentucky bed the Uh, it's brought to you by as
I said, the Kenturky s O Bed Owners and Breeders Association.

Speaker 1 (01:24:56):

Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and ursa ellis.
Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
No doc, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
Okay, well shoot shot tea fire, moving right along into
something that I know what the hell I'm going to do.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
Oh well, you.
Speaker 1 (01:28:38):
Can always talk about your two stints.
Speaker 2 (01:28:42):
Two stints in my heart.
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
Yeah, that sounds like a country song, doesn't it. Two
stints in my heart?
Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:28:50):
For you like that?
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
Well, let's see, we've got some other stuff that we
can do over here on my bridge, just for the
hell of it. And my breed read something.
Speaker 2 (01:28:59):
Out of it out of Joe Palmer, how's that sure?
What time is it? Yeah, we're good at plenty of time.
This is written by Joe Palmer, one of my all
time favorite writers writers, and it's the title of this column.
He wrote, horses are like some people.
Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
The surest way to write a successful magazine piece is
to write about men and women. For some reason which
evades me, even I seem to know know much about
one another, and prudery forbids an obvious suggestion, so articles
about one or the other.
Speaker 2 (01:29:40):
Are avidly read.
Speaker 3 (01:29:42):
Failing this, a man always makes the front pages with
an article on the relative intelligence.
Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Of animals, I mean the other animals.
Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
In most of these, the horse comes off badly, and
it comes to be an article of faith with some
of our sports writers that he is deficient in intelligence
compared to the other domesticated a semi domesticated animal. A
horse cannot pile up boxes on a platform so he
can get at a banana on the ceiling, because he
(01:30:14):
has no hands with which to pick up a box,
and he doesn't like bananas anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
He cannot very easily be.
Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
Taught to sit on his hinmequarters and beg because he
cannot be easily supported in this position as a dog
can be, and because it's a damn undignified position, either
for a horse or a political candidate, as horses realize
and political candidates don't. That doesn't mean the horse isn't
smart as will be freely granted by anyone who has
(01:30:45):
watched the lips Ns perform in Madison Square garden frolling
through intricate maneuvers under wood amounts to invisible gardens. A
favorite story in this corner concerns a horse who you
probably don't remember. His name was Sands of Pleasure, and
he was the first good horse to come from the
fair play with rockshand crossed was later made famous by Man.
Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Of War and others Fans.
Speaker 3 (01:31:11):
Of Pleasure was a stake's horse in his early years,
but as time went on he dropped down a little
and wound up running in flayming races. But like so
many of the horses with a turbulent blood of fair play,
he had his notions. He was beating the nose on
the post one day, this was before the days of
the finished camera, when the judges put the numbers up
(01:31:33):
immediately in hope that they were right. The jockey on
Sands of Pleasure came back to all his number in
the second slot and pulled up to unsaddle. The horse
tried diligently to throw him, and afterward tried to wrestle
down the groom who was holding him. And to kick
several innocent bystanders. The trainer was disturbed because the fair
(01:31:55):
plays were gone to grow moody and intractable as they
grew older, which it usually meant the end of the
racing usefulness. So he tossed the horse into a race
in which he didn't fit a few days later, just
to see, and sands of Pleasure beaten some five links.
Came back, blowing a little because he'd given it a
(01:32:15):
good try, but otherwise unruffled. Well, if there's a secret
to training horses, it's to understand how a horse thinks. Now,
this trainer wanted to putting two and two together. Next
time he started the horse, he gave the jockeys unusual instructions.
I think you can win this if you get all fast,
he said.
Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
But if you do win it, don't.
Speaker 3 (01:32:38):
Come back to the winter circle. Put him to the
outside rail to unsaddle. Sans the pleasure took the track
and held his horses, and one pulling up by a
couple of links, he came back to the grand stand
and was guided to the outside rail according to orders.
The jockey asked, would swore that The horse turned his
head and looked at him, then.
Speaker 2 (01:32:59):
Sands of Pleasure took the bit firmly between his.
Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
Teeth and went into the winter circle where it belonged.
So the trainer had figgured this went out correctly. In
that first trace, sunds of Pleasure had disagreed with the
placing judges and thought he had won, and he took
it badly, and another horse was in the winter circle.
In the second he knew he had been beaten, and.
Speaker 1 (01:33:21):
That was that.
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
In the third he knew, curse will that he had won,
and he was having no nonsense about it. In those
pre camera days, it was the custom of all losing
horse players to insist that the judges were a set
of per bride and competents selected for the duties after
an eye test in which not only couldn't pronounce the words,
(01:33:42):
he couldn't see the letters tans. The Pleasure thus proved
himself to have about the same judgment as a losing
horse player, which rated him close up behind the chimpanzee
and possibly ahead of the doll.
Speaker 1 (01:33:55):
Isn't that good?
Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
I love that story, Yes, said Joe. They're real smart.
That's you know.
Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
It's just that I think back years ago when they
used horses so much people that used them, half them,
ninety percent of them didn't know what they were doing anyway. Yeah,
and uh, every time something wrong, they blamed the horse.
And I don't know, I think I've noticed lately that
(01:34:26):
is something I've just sort of picked up. When you
got two old horses that have been friends and paddock
mates for years and they're old. When one of them
dies within about a month, the other one dies too,
I've noticed that, you know, they it's their companions. I've
(01:34:48):
heard that over and over and over. I'm thinking that
there's more to that than you know. So what if
I have a a.
Speaker 2 (01:35:05):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (01:35:06):
I have an announcement go ahead that Torpedo Anna has retired.
Twenty percent share of Torpedo is going to sell at
Keenland at the Championship sail twenty twenty four hours of
the year and a shoe in of the Hall of
Fame the first year she'll be eligible in nine and
(01:35:30):
twenty thirty one, she's been retired. The news came in
the former press release and out by Kentland McPeak Racing
in Hillendale. Additionally, a twenty percent share in the champion
will be offered at the upcoming Keenland Championship Sale at
(01:35:51):
Delmar on October twenty ninth. What's that two weeks Yeah? Yeah,
announcement was no superse as. She was a dull fourth
and the Spinster that is going to be her last race. Afterwards,
she would likely be retired because there's there's nothing wrong
with her. It's you know, sometimes you just say that's
(01:36:18):
enough for me.
Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
I think she's living for the breeding her.
Speaker 1 (01:36:22):
I just think that she was such a star and
that's a fitting.
Speaker 3 (01:36:27):
Way to get Can you make Pigot a marvelous job
with that?
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
Phi? Yeah, he's a good trainer. I just yeah, nice
guy too. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:36:36):
I told him one time a couple of years ago.
I said, now, when I get too old to ride
and everything, can I hop off for you?
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
Said she would show up.
Speaker 1 (01:36:48):
I said, okay, okay, I got a job if I
can keep walking. Okay. Old Friends and my racehorse partner
to support after care. So Old Friends Retirement Farm is
partnering with my racehorse with a Night Out with Champions Friday,
(01:37:11):
October twenty fourth at Old Friends And as we were told,
it starts at five thirty so it'll be light enough
to the whole thing. They're going to have what do
you call it, silent auction and good food and all
that kind of stuff. It's just just just as a
(01:37:31):
great idea and it's a great partnership. So if you
give race my racehorse their old friends a call and
get yourself a ticket, pretty neat idea, especially since the
weather's where you.
Speaker 2 (01:37:49):
Know it's gonna turn cold Thanksgiving and hot jazz.
Speaker 1 (01:37:55):
So anyway, one hundred percent of the net proceeds go
to old friends, and you go to old Friends Equine
and you can check out about how you get getting.
Speaker 3 (01:38:08):
Back to Kenny. You know he should have been he
should have gotten the eclipse of orders.
Speaker 2 (01:38:17):
Yeah. Problem is that they've made of those ballots out
of the sports for people who don't really get no sports,
but they're in the trainer in America.
Speaker 3 (01:38:31):
Yeah, thats if they had the choice of being number two.
Speaker 2 (01:38:38):
And money earned, because when they send that list out
they do it by money earned. Yeah, and these guys
over connected the you know someplace you know, they vote
for number one. Yeah, because Kenny was number two that
you even but I guarantee you in the trainer in
(01:39:00):
America rather than being number one, would settled for number two.
If among them, he'd settle the winners of the Kentucky
Derby in the Preakness.
Speaker 1 (01:39:08):
I know, I know, it's just they don't understand the
value of things if they're not really so he didn't
get me. Again, if you don't know the horse business,
you don't.
Speaker 3 (01:39:20):
He didn't get the eclipse ordinated.
Speaker 1 (01:39:23):
Ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (01:39:24):
Yeah, but but that's that was quite a feat. I
guess there's been somebody else in history that's done that.
Speaker 2 (01:39:32):
But I can't it before my time. Maybe I can
came in when they were hot, you know my head. Yeah,
I don't have to check it out and look at
him in the forties.
Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
Well, they're running the Dowager States today out of Telan
and it goes off what time forty four grade three,
three hundred and fifty thousand dollars for three old and
phillys marriage going a mile and a half on the turf.
Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
And the first.
Speaker 3 (01:40:11):
Dowager was run back in nineteen ninety two, so it's
not a real old state. For Green Noble won it,
and it was the mayor that won the first running
of it. She was by Green Dancer senator of Nadzinski
the second out of a time Valadora, but Douan Dwan
(01:40:35):
stood over at them. Jimmy Drymond had him over when
he had Domino stood over there. And the second damn
was wonderful girl by the acts second. The act second
was read by green Tree, but stood over it Dugal Heatris,
Yeah behind keenan back, are you know?
Speaker 1 (01:40:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
And I forget what he called all that far anyway,
but I remember he told me one time everybody made
money with that horse the acts the second anyway, I ta.
Speaker 3 (01:41:14):
Valadora, the damn of Green Noble is also the damn
of the Abigade of the Wife by a firm who
won good grade two steaks and sky Bound by sky
Classic who sky Classic was one of my favorite horses.
(01:41:35):
Stood over Pinno from yeah, many many years over there anywhere.
And the second dam was a wonderful girl, I said,
by the acts the second it was.
Speaker 2 (01:41:46):
And she was a full sister the Alataea, by the way,
and she.
Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
Was a pretty good kind of race. Members has the
dowager she she won three hundred and fifty thousand dollars
when the Labor Day handicap rocking Ham and placing in
some other stakes. And her thirty four was a filly
named Noble Strike by Smart Strike who won one and
(01:42:12):
was also a pretty good kind of producer and everything
like that. Now, the second running of the Dowager Stakes
was won by Navara my old Grand signor out of
Image of Reality by in Reality Image of Reality and
(01:42:33):
one of the Grade two stakes. She won the Grade
two more ladies. She was the damn also of besides
Nevara of Tussad was by old Grand Signor, and Tussade
was ended up being a brewed Mary of the issue
she was. She won a Grade one gamely and a
(01:42:56):
couple of American handicapped grade to a new ultra handicamp
way too. And to side was the damn of Empire
Maker that I remember, son of Unbridled that won the
Belmont Stakes, went to study. I think he went to
gain Gainesway, and they sent him overseas and then they
(01:43:20):
brought him back and ended up at Gains. The Empire
Maker was very much John Johnahville anyway, and he was
a half brother the Chester House by mister Prospector and
that person Prester House went to Arlington, me and and
the Eddie Reid handicapped both Grade one stakes earned a
(01:43:41):
million six hundred thousand dollars. He died real young, didn't
you went to stud was going to stood and putting
shore over Dreadmont farm and and passed away before he
got to cover a mayor Chester I remember very well.
And image reality was also the damn.
Speaker 2 (01:44:04):
Of besides I mean two sides.
Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
Was also the name of a Seattle slew mare named
Honest Lady, who was one of Santa Monica Handicapped Grade one.
And this that Breeders' Cup Handicap Grade two. Santa Maya's
Grade two breaders Cup print ran second in that ran
second in the metropolitan Hall of a Mayor. This is
(01:44:28):
a female family here of Chiseling Chisling by Woodman Woodmar
Woodman Woodman was a Prickness winner.
Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
Chisling won the secretary at stakes grade one. It was
also in the dam of Dekarchi by disinfused stood over
Johnny Bell and he was he was a pretty good
handicapper stakes himself to sell.
Speaker 2 (01:44:54):
And var.
Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
Let's see what else did you win if you won
the violent handicap And in a difference to the Dowager Handicap,
I ended up.
Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
Over in England. But it was the damn of a
horse named Indigo Shiner by ap Indy who went a
Jefferson Cup and Sinners in Saints and placed in stakes
and it was super nice. Thanks kind of a family.
Speaker 5 (01:45:26):
What do you need then for farm?
Speaker 2 (01:45:29):
Oh yeah, I'm supposed to do a commercial for Spendi.
Farmer came.
Speaker 1 (01:45:36):
I want to say thanks.
Speaker 2 (01:45:38):
Dev's thanks Davis.
Speaker 1 (01:45:41):
Yeah. He called up in her sent a thing saying
how you were after your part problem?
Speaker 2 (01:45:48):
This is very nice. Yeah. I ended up with two steps?
Speaker 1 (01:45:51):
Can it stands by? Golling looked at the home run.
Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
I talked to Bob Copeland the other day. I've got Bob.
Speaker 3 (01:45:58):
He had a heart attack a little before I had mine,
and uh tell you and I called him up from
the zimbaba. I raise your stint.
Speaker 1 (01:46:11):
Yeah you've only got one? Yeah, yeah, yea.
Speaker 3 (01:46:15):
Yeah till here, I said, pretty good shape for the shake.
I member, okay, okay, Well well they ran two States
and New York Class Saturday and runners by Spencer stands
one both of them. The Great three Glenn Cole Stakes
was won by Love Severe three Old Phillypy and the
(01:46:37):
Missive Britain, owned by Edward and Beverly Seltzer. That was
her third stakes win and she is one of twenty
one twenty twenty five stakes winners by in the mission
goes his lead over the nation second ranks ires over
five million dollars right now. He's also the leading side
of twenty twenty five graded states winners were fifteen and
(01:46:58):
Grade one stakes. It was with five five Great one
stakes winners in one year. Well while we added every
point out that the nation's leading first crop sire Yumpon
stance at Spencer so it was the number one ranked
second crop Sire Wacoma and the number one ranked third
crop sire Omahall Beach. The other stakes one last Saturday
(01:47:23):
in New York was one hundred and fifty thousand dollars
R Shillem and it was won by Major Dude. He's
by Boat Dior. Major Dude has won five stakes, four
graded and earned a million four hundred and eighteen thousand
bread but clearce cat farms. He was sold at Saratoga
brought five hundred and fifty thousand dollars. He was a
bargain running a Great one winner and millionaire Bautdor was
(01:47:46):
the leading freshman sary of his year. East sided nine
twenty twenty five six winners seventeen earned black type this
year and he is one of one hundred and eighty
two stakes winners by the top side of Dali Doro
out of the ap in the Mary Globe trop Glob
Trot Damn of two Grade one winners. That's a great
(01:48:08):
pedigree and both dealer, well, he's living up to it.
And for more on the stands over Spencery Farm. That's
the breeders farm called Dear's of Mark or Daniel. They
fout nine two nine four years your so he take it.
Look at a website which is spencerfarm dot.
Speaker 1 (01:48:23):
Com up about Sally Sally Vans great great start.
Speaker 2 (01:48:29):
And when you go to the uh.
Speaker 1 (01:48:32):
Auctions Nicole Peeter Wight's always got a desk in an
area set up, so as soon as the hammer goes down,
you go over and say, hey, see that one, send
it home. And they take such good care of your
stuff you don't have to worry about spending a gazillion
(01:48:53):
dollars and then have somebody mess it up on the
way home. So they've been in business for posh sixty
or seventy years? Is that about right? Good lord?
Speaker 2 (01:49:07):
Well, of course, oh there's not that old. But the
business is yeah, the business, that's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:49:15):
It's just so long. Many of the greatest runners ever
to step on a racetrack been entrusted to their care.
And I saw the picture of Justified getting off. I
think at Churchill getting off of Sally Van and that's
you know, they've learned a lot of way along the way.
(01:49:39):
It's obvious their vehicle, that's an equipment, are in TikTok shape.
Single most important safety factor is the ability and experience
of the person behind the wheel. They're very proud of
their drivers at Sally Horse Vans experienced drivers and experienced
horsemen and that's a winning combination. So and think about this.
(01:50:06):
If it's good enough or Justify, it's good enough for
money and you got in your stalls, would I say,
she whis So think about that next time you ship
your horse across the county or across the country. When
you load your horse into a Sally Van, you can
depend on the fact that the person behind the wheel
(01:50:29):
is one of the best in the business. Folks at
Sally Horse Fans wouldn't have it any other way. And
that's why for more than half a century Dali Horse
Vans has been the safest way to the winner circle
and by gotta lead the safest way. That took our
last two out the old friends. Two five five nine
(01:50:52):
four oh six. It's two five five nine four o six.
Speaker 4 (01:51:01):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and Ursa ellis.
Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:51:06):
Speaking of the Thoroughbred Training Center, we better talk about
them a little bit. Yeah, I kind of miss not
doing the program out there now.
Speaker 1 (01:51:14):
Yeah. It's we shift where we go and h for
a good reason, so we you know, it's it's a
great place to train. I just love people up there.
Speaker 2 (01:51:25):
We made a lot of good friends training out there.
Speaker 3 (01:51:28):
Yeah, we sure did. Yeah, And it's it's it's a
great place to train because you know, you can take
a green horse out there and break them out there
if you have to, and you can start started taking
yeah coming to you old out there and get them going. Yeah,
train them right out there, because they got everything you want.
(01:51:49):
You know, we've got a five ah mile track. You
got a mile track, and five ah mile track is
down inside the mile track and you can take them
the green horses down there and they know, get them
broken good and everything until they're ready to go up
with where the action's really going.
Speaker 2 (01:52:06):
On, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:52:07):
Yeah, And I'll tell you something else. I like, they've
got good barns for one thing. You don't want a stuffy,
closed up farn. These barns they've got these great big windows. Yeah,
pop those things over and catch it breeze. And then
what happens is after you're done, everything's walked, everything's put up,
(01:52:29):
everything's fed. Then they break this, break them, They break
the walk where you walk them, and that's you know,
if you're not careful, you get too much dust. You
pop open those windows. They won't have any dust. Yeah,
because you don't want to tug down in their.
Speaker 2 (01:52:48):
Lungs, that's for sure. We had Barn fifteen out there
for years. Yeah, great barn, great barn. Lot of fun
people we had in there. Oh yeah, it was fun,
good people. Well, anyway, they've got like I said, they
got that mile track and got the five acre mile track.
Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
And got starting gate gallops. They've got a cocker out there,
and ood lot better cocker than I was when I
was there.
Speaker 1 (01:53:17):
Does he's still out there somewhere? Come on, you can't
have a turning center without Susie.
Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
Yeah, they've got grab the said grass gallops out there.
Top facility is the best thing about it is a
nice quiet atmosphere out there that you can take your
horse out in.
Speaker 2 (01:53:34):
Grazy.
Speaker 3 (01:53:35):
If they did have some paddocks out there, not that
they've sublized. Yeah, you have to stand in mind for
those though.
Speaker 1 (01:53:44):
Yeah, gotta pay attention.
Speaker 3 (01:53:46):
We used to turn Tubby out and the damn paddock
out there, he get ripping and rowing and rip a
shoe off.
Speaker 1 (01:53:51):
I had his shoe off every damn time.
Speaker 2 (01:53:53):
I know. I said he was keeping me broke for
health Faerrier.
Speaker 3 (01:54:01):
Oh well, anyway, the rent out there is reasonable if
cal give them a number out there. If you're looking
for a couple of stalls, that's a five nine number
two nine three, eighteen fifty three is the number to call.
Speaker 2 (01:54:16):
And if if they.
Speaker 3 (01:54:22):
Don't have any stalls, the best thing you can do
is to just get on your two feet and walk
around and go through. Ask some people if you've got
some stalls that they will sub lease. Yeah, soublized, because
you know they.
Speaker 2 (01:54:36):
Have to pay rental.
Speaker 3 (01:54:37):
I don't know they were a horse in there or
not right, exactly real they have a horse.
Speaker 1 (01:54:41):
In there, you know, Yeah, and a lot of people.
Now I'll get ready to ship south for the winner.
Speaker 2 (01:54:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:54:47):
And if there's going to be a block of stalls
or a couple of whatever, yeah, get out there and
start looking because they want to rent those things out.
So it's a good time. Goes snorking round.
Speaker 2 (01:55:02):
Yeah, Well, what what does our time look like down there?
Speaker 4 (01:55:06):
Boom, oh, arcel, you've got about three minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
Oh, we've got three minutes, so we're going to oh cow,
got it. We could just start singing or something, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:55:19):
I can't.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
I can't put up and they sing it anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:55:26):
Big racing today, fun racing.
Speaker 2 (01:55:29):
Yeah, there's that's a track that uh.
Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
Races another tracks, you know, like they're running a nice
race stakes race up at a Mama Park today. It's
got a feel that goes off about four pm. It's
called the John Forbes Memorial. Got a nice pot one
hundred and fifty, found out a part for four wheels
(01:55:53):
and up good and it's got some interesting horses in there.
There are Number two is in the American Failure, one
of my favorite oasis. I understand he's going to Japan.
Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
Yeah, I wonder why money. I guess somebody said to getting.
Speaker 1 (01:56:12):
But now they're in northern Hemisphere, right, Yeah, so they're
on the same breeding schedule.
Speaker 2 (01:56:20):
Yeah, that we are. Yeah, that I like. Well, there's
a there is a Mendelssohn in there named rotten Dam
by Siena Farm.
Speaker 3 (01:56:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
Then one of the McCauley's class science yeah right, Rotterdam. Yeah,
and alas is the best.
Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
Hows there to go something for something? Dutch writer, damn Dutch.
Speaker 1 (01:56:48):
And yeah. The thing about it is is my mccaulay's
is very helpful. Like Amy Parker, you know she out
in Waism and does all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:57:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:57:03):
Yeah, And that's a hard thing to keep up with.
And that's just a free service that they do come
out and do that for you, because a lot of time,
as you're done, you put them up to salt, feed
them and then you walk.
Speaker 2 (01:57:16):
But if you've got somebody.
Speaker 1 (01:57:17):
Else chip in with a little time as a part
of their services, that that's a good deal.
