third career start. He'd finished second by neck in his
debut at sarah Toga after a trouble trip, came back
in his second to take a maiden especially at Belmont.
His first start at three was in the Grade three
(02:17):
Gotham at Aqueduct, and the official chart reported that he
quote bobbled at the start to finish third. Moving to Keenland,
he set the pace and then now Grade one Bluegrass

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Good morning, everyone, and it's another pretty day here in
the Commonwealth. Yes it is, and it's a little bit cheay,
but supposed to warm up in the seventies, I think today.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Well two seventy. Anyway, they it's right now, it's thirty nine.
Oh there's no wind, no rain either, Unfortunately. I'm waiting
for rain.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
We need it.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, that's great. And John's here with us this morning.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Yeah, John Nicholson from Old Friends.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
And he's got a really pretty sweatshirt. It says Old
Friends on it.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
She's she's Jackie. John's got on his lovely sweatshirt, says
Old Friends on it.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
It's beautiful.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Jackie is already working on her to get one and.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
We can do that. They are on sell at our
gift shop, jacking, and they're paid for it.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
For God's sake, it.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
All goes to the horses. Remember that, It all goes
to the horses. Absolutely. We've got some nice, nice apparel
items in our in our gift shop. That's great.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yeah, I haven't been in there. Well, tell you the
truth is Michael a couple of months or so ago
said talking about missus pastures trees, and he was telling me, oh,
they're here, and they're there, and behind that bathroom door,
and be over that, and I went to all those places.
It was like a scavenger hunt. And I thought, finally,
(05:06):
I think it's a joke on me. So I got
in the car and went up to the gift shop
and she gave me someone a little bag. I mean,
it was almost as if you couldn't take better care
of gold than take care of the Spence's pastors.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Missus Pastures is the currency upon which old friends operate.
There you go the horses. They I mean, that's what
they live on. They love that.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Oh my gosh, our two go nuts. I mean they
really really really like them. I think they like them
better than the apples, to tell you the truth, although
Tubby likes that.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Well, you know, Michaels told the Story of a thousand times,
but it just bears repeating that. You know, we are
a retirement home, and so some of our guys are.
You get a little long in the two and then
it comes time for them to lose their teeth. Yes,
and the folks at Missus Pastures, which is an all
tech company, by the way, they now send their Missus
(06:12):
Pastures and ground ground up. Not all of them but
we have tons and tons of the cookies. But so
that Silver Charm and Touch Gold and a few of
our others who have to have mush. Yes, that they're
all crumbled up for them, so we don't have to
crumble them. We don't have to take that.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
That's wonderful. I think that's the coolest thing I've ever heard.
Now an all Tech is a wonderful company. Gosh they're Irish,
yes they are. And was it doctor Lyons? Doctor Lyons?
And I remember when they first got here. It was
one of those things Fanny fan fan of hand mcgreth,
(06:54):
you know. And he's a blacksmith, oh yes, And.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
Some reason I was out in that direction.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
And Fanny said, wait a minute. You don't get who
he is, you know. And I got a little background
on it, but boy, he's done a lot.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Well, he's wonderful man. And it's interesting that you that
you mentioned him, because the last time I was on
the show was back when I was single, you know,
And now I.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Am uh I noticed you change an old, old.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
Married man, you know, the ball and chain and all that.
But I Janna and I got married two weeks and
one day ago, and we would not have gotten married
were it not for piercing Dear Drelians. They are the
ones that introduced us. Uh, actually did introduces we knew
I knew her, but they were the matchmaking engineers.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Did she not work for him?
Speaker 5 (07:48):
Yeah, it still does.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Oh good, Yeah, that's how I met her. Well, no,
I met her because of Millie, right.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Yeah, And it's and it's all of a fun circle.
But Deirdre Lions in particular, you know, we all got
to be friends. During the World Equestrian Games. Jana was
working at spend at Spindle Top across the street from
the horse park, so Altech's headquarters during the World Equestrian
(08:20):
Games was essentially Spindle Top. And of course I worked
with Doctor Lions very closely with the games. Their sponsorship
of the games made the games possible, and I worked
very closely with missus Lyons. And as a result of
all that, they said, you know, you need to you
need to spend time with more time with Jana, And
(08:41):
I said, oh, well, now I don't know, but they
were right and I did, and we did, and two
weeks ago, ten years later, we got married.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
That's funny. And we were so long and long ten
years for one of those guys that stand in front
of the door for a while.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Boarding I do. You just can't rush into anything, and
but we would. We went to Ireland recently, uh and
went to the Pierce Lines distillery in Dublin, and I
must say that is so impressive. There's like a twelfth
century church that had that had crumbled and he revived
(09:21):
that church and put a I mean, it's made a
gorgeous architecturally. And that's the Pierce Lines distillery right by
the Guinness plant in Dublin. Beer oh yes, oh yeah,
the bourbon barrel al Kentucky l that's all all that.
Pierce Lines was a got his doctorate as a brewer,
(09:44):
you know, as a beer guy, worked for Guinness in Dublin,
figured out that the byproduct, the yeast byproduct of the
brewing process was really good in animal feed. Oh, and
took that idea, came to Lexington with a few thousand
dollars in his pocket in nineteen seventy eight, and the
(10:06):
next thing, you know, it's all over the world.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
But the last thing I would say is it's a
reminder that you know, and here Jane and I got married.
Jana and I would not have met were if you
boil it all down to the essential truth, we would
not have met were it not for the horse. The
world of questioning gangs where the and the horses involved
in that brought Jana and I together. The horses just
(10:31):
keep doing things for us all the time.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
That's wonderful. Now she's still working there, she is. What
does she do?
Speaker 5 (10:37):
She is the global director of Corporate Hospitality for All Tech.
And you know, doctor Mark Lynes, Pierce's son is the CEO.
There are eighty countries across the world. They're important to
the economies of a lot of countries and to a
lot of places within these countries. So they're always entertaining
(11:00):
you know leaders, business leaders, political leaders, uh, diplomatic leaders,
and so they have to have, you know, the proper
protocol and do things the correct way. And that's that's
Janice's responsible.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I bet she's great at it. I just well, now,
I bet she travels a lot.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
She does, and she keeps people on their toes. I
know that because she keeps me.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
I bet you, I bet you've got her hands full of.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
Yeah, I'm always having my lessons on the p's and
q's and I'm getting straightened out all the time.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Good for her. Well, congratulations, that's just wonderful story. I
had no idea of the background of all of it,
because that's kind of fun.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
And it all started with you know, we were talking
about Missus Pastors, which is an all tech, all tech company. Yeah,
one more good thing they're doing and our horses love them.
Last night was a big night for old friends. We
had the parties celebrating the arrival of Big Brown.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
You're going to have a big show. We've got something
here we got coming up on for it.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
Well, it's last night, well and no more. Maybe I
hadn't got the memo if there is.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
But oh, I know what it was. It says October
fourteenth through the eighteenth, which means we missed it.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
We missed it.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yeah, well we'll shoot, well, shoot, we miss things. I
apologize to people because Miss Betsy's home and you know
she can't be by herself and we can't go out
just well, well.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
You understand that you guys are you guys are coming
to see us all the time. But we had we
had people drive in from New York, oh yeah, and
from Ohio, from Tennessee to see Big Brown to see
Big browns Andy Cohen, his principal owner, flew in from
New York Wow, and has been with us, and it
(13:00):
was just it was just really wonderful that horse is.
It's amazing what they do. He's a you know, he's
a stallion, and you and you get you always say, oh,
he's a stallion. He can't have people, and oh that
he just he took picture after picture and he loves
to be hugged and muzzled and and it was just
and he couldn't get enough of it. He just, you know, finally,
(13:22):
I know he slept well last night, but it was
it was eight and nine o'clock and people were still
still wanting to have their selfies with fun. So it
was just it was just really really special. What a great,
great horse. I think we need to reinvigorate a campaign
to get him in the Hall of Fame. Oh good,
(13:44):
think he's worthy of it. You know, uh one seven
out of eight of his races, you know, the Derby
and Preakness, the Florida Derby, the Haskell. I mean, this
is a great horse.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Yeah, I wonder they have a nominating committee. I guess
that's where you go first.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
Well, we're gonna have to learn all the politics.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah, that's it. That's that's how that's all structured.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Yeah, I used to have the vote.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah, well that's okay.
Speaker 5 (14:13):
Step one is you need to get Ursel back back
on it. Yeah, so that'll start it, and then you know,
you'll be our end.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
He was. He some people get those kind of positions
and they go okay, click, not Ursul. Ursul would go
through the background and the p pps and his life,
its life depended on it, and.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
Well that's why everybody ought to do it.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Well I know, but you know, well anyway Ursel did.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
Yeah, well we'll get Ursel back on there. But but
so now think about this. We we now had old friends.
Today as we speak, there are three Kentucky Derby winners
that you can go see. You go see our old
buddy Silver Charm, who is in the stall next to
Big Brown. Oh wow, he's thirty years old, is still
(15:02):
just doing great, and he loved he got his share
of missus pastures and the shredded carrots and everything last
night too, so he was pretty pleased. And then of
course this spring we had I'll have another come in
so uh, I know it's just it's you know, just
fine and exciting and the you know, the future is bright.
(15:24):
We also celebrated last night a couple from Tennessee have
come into our world, Bob and Beverly Skinner. And bob'
said an old commander of nuclear submarines, no interesting guy.
And Enema became a big oil executive. And he and
his wife just have always liked horses, and they're retired
(15:46):
and have come into our world, discovered us, and we've
become great friends. And they we were able to announce
last night. And this is a big this is important,
the Robert and Beverly Skinner Medical Fund for old friends. Oh,
now that all of our horses now will be will
(16:07):
have their surgeries there, their inevitable surgeries, uh taken care
of by this fund. Oh, isn't that we we have
always provided with our partnership with Root and Riddle. But
you know we have to pay for them and surgeries
anybody in the horse business knows. But call it surgery
costs with all these things, and so now it and
(16:30):
now so now it's like our horses have their Medicare plan.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
That's well, they're more solid with this and there with
Medicare but they had to say safe and yeah.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
But but it's just it's just we we always we've
always provided it and we've always the Lord has always
provided one way or the other. But it's you know,
but you never know. And and there's all in all candid.
There's always been that big, big bill from Root and Riddle.
They are wonderful. They give things at a discount. They're
(17:03):
always their force and they never demand. But now we
got them covered.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
That must be I think if that was me, what
it would be was relief.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Yeah, it's just something you don't have to worry about.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Yes, Yes, that's amazing.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
It's expensive to take care of these horses, and it is.
We have to pay for it, just like everybody else.
And so this was a big deal for us. So
we had a big celebration last night.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Oh that's super duper. I am so glad. That's great.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
We got a report card from you guys on our
two out there and a great picture and who took
a picture?
Speaker 5 (17:38):
That picture too be and Laura Battles takes most of
our pictures, I'm not exactly sure about.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Yeah, it was really good. In particular, they were the
trees were behind them in the fence and the sun
must have been sort of afternoon and the sun was
right on them and they look so shiny and prettio
that beautiful picture.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
We send out report cards a couple of times a
year on every one of our horses to their families.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Yeah, that's wonderful.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
You know that. Maybe Tubby's talking too much in class,
you know, but Battle plays nice with others, you.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Know whatever, Yeah, that kind of you know. Yeah, it
was something. There's something about seed and I think somebody
put out a problem. Oh that's fun. I love it.
That is such a good pool. They're from Tennessee.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Huh.
Speaker 5 (18:38):
Yes, they've lived all over the world and you know,
and the oil business and in the nuclear submarines that
they resided in outside of Knoxville. And saw the article
where Michael was was semi retiring, and I was coming
on board and thought that was just interesting and drove
up here. We didn't know them and just well in
(19:00):
love with the place and love the horses, and now
they're kind of they're part of the family. And they said,
what what can we do? You know, what really is
the need? And you all know this better than any anybody,
But horses are expensive. You know, there's a reason we
went to cars, you know exactly. And it costs several
(19:21):
thousand dollars a year to maintain a horse. But then
the unexpected happens, and the time that you that older
horses spend in the hospital just happens. And to have
created a fund that is going to cover that was
a really serious, wonderful contribution on their part. And they're
(19:41):
very nice people. Isn't it funny how really nice people
are attracted to this.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Oh yeah, yeah, isn't that great? Some well, you know,
sometimes you think you're getting scammed with charities and stuff.
If you can't get scammed, little friends, they.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Got to eat, that's right. But talk about an open book.
Just come on out. We'll show you. Yeah, you know,
it's not complicated exactly. Here's what you know. Here's all
the you know, the feed tubs, and you know, two
hundred and eighty horses take a lot of feed, they
take a lot of medical care. Dental work and pedietry
are very important to us. And we're not hammering shoes
(20:22):
on in the same way they're doing here at the
training center at the track. But but there's therapeutic shoes
on many sure, and we all, you know, they've got
to be trimmed or we have a wonderful partnership with
the Kentucky Horse Shoeing School, which is just great. Yeah,
students come out and do that. We have a good
relationship with Kimmy, you know, the equine Management schools. So
(20:46):
we've got a lot of wonderful partners and supporters. But
it's still very, very expensive.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Oh god, yeah, I got a dopey question for you.
He's gonna put up Christmas lights.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
But well, not like the horse park does.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Betsy and I worked the horse Park class Saturday and
they've already got them stuck in the ground.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
I remember my days there. That's that process would start
Labor day putting those things up. And and you don't
people don't realize they're not like what you have in
your front yard. Those things are heavy, yeah, and commercial
and complicated in the electricity, and it takes ku and
all this complicated figuring out that you don't blow the
(21:31):
fuses and all that. So so we love Christmas at
Old Friends and we will have our Christmas giving tree
up and there's well, we certainly love the holiday, but
we don't put up the lights like old Old guy.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Well you could put a little string up there at
the gift shop.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
Yeah, you're right, you know that would be something, you know,
that'd be a good, good project from Michael. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm glad you said that.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
We're kind of keeping busy. You don't want to, you know,
you leave old people alone and they kind of go bad.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
Let him get stale, so we'll put him in charge
of fail that's right. We can't let Michael get stale.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
You said stale, I said go bad.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
Well, we can't break bad here. That's okay, So that noted.
That's on. That's a memo today to Michael. You're in
charge of the Christmas decoration.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yeah, and you can see it so well from the road.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
See that's just kind of.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
There's a tree right there too, so it's dead.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
It's a Now it's a statue.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
It's it's Medina's spirit.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Are you going to do their statue?
Speaker 5 (22:39):
Well, we'll put some lights on the statues. Medina's spirit
is this is the horse and the statue. That wooden
carving of the tree that's not you know, knocked down
with the weather. So you know there you.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Are, there you are now see we got to take
care of Michael. Yes, these elder leave people, they not.
We need to keep busy and happy.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
All right, that's there, you go. That's right. He's still
doing a pretty good job.
Speaker 7 (23:04):
You know.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
He empties the he empties the garbage around and collects
and then he collects the recycle stuff. And so really
he's doing good. I think I put him up for
Employee of the month. He's a candidate. He's, you know,
got a few things to work for.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Yeah. Did you ever have a dinner and give him
a cheap gold watch? Cheap funny?
Speaker 5 (23:27):
Yeah, there you go. We'll work on that too.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Yeah, that's funny. You know, here's the cheap cold watch.
Now go.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Give him a dinner.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Let me interrupt you here, Okay, go ahead. The Grade
one win A Bright Future by the Great Curling is
available for your inspection at Cleveland Farm where he's going
to stand his first season. It stood in twenty twenty five.
This horse says all the credentials to be an outstanding sire.
He wanted the highest Grade one level. He is by
a great sire and improving sire sires and his damn
(23:56):
one stakes and produced two graded steaks winners Right and
Musical Mischief, the latter a Grade two winner and Grade
one place earner of over five hundred thousand. He also
has the confirmation to match his pedigree. Go to Clayburn
and judge for yourself. We think you're going to like
what you see. Right Future won his career debut ed
Goldstream Park, followed by another score over the same course,
(24:19):
then moved to Saratoga to post back to back wins.
The second he is in the Grade one jacket Clip
Gold Cup. He also won a Grade three Savage a
mile at Marmouth and the careers and he had earned
nine hundred and forty seven nine one hundred and forty dollars.
Curling studfee has climbed to two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
(24:39):
That's because he sires runners like Bright Future and also
Champion two year Old. He's of good magic who has
sired winners of the Kentucky Derby in Belmont Station his
first two cops. His fee for twenty twenty four was
one hundred and twenty five thousand. Right Futures female family
has produced literally dozens of runners, among them the brilliant
(25:01):
Housebuster and a Grade one Hopeful States winner named Newtellfellow
Who's Run Happy and of course run Happy is Bright
Future stable made out of Cleveland farm called Jacob west
at eight five nine nine eighty seven two three three old.
Go take a look at Bright Future in the website
is Cleverronfarm dot com. Well, if if you're in a
(25:23):
horse been the this' is a couple of names. Some
people down at do business down at the parish, Kentucky.
Of course they're closely affiliated. As a matter of fact
fact they're wont in the same and Cleave War Agency
an Indian Creek farm. Of course. Indian Creek just made
news during this last yearly in Salem. They sold a
(25:43):
five million dollar a year in which topped the sale. Uh,
but that's you know they I know that horse had
to look like a million dollars. It looked like five
million dollars. But all their horses went over. They they
know they've got great horsemen there Indian Creek, and it's
a great place to board.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
And guy who he's playing straight, you know he's not
gonna he's he's very up and up.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Who's at Shack oh Shack Parish. Yeah, well he's got
one flaw. He's a friend of mine, so I'll probably
drag it down a little bit.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Nobody's perfect.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Yeah, Shack is a good guy, great horseman, and he's
been running this Indian Creek for how long now, And
if you want somebody to board horses, if with uh
salehorses for you at auction. They've raised and boarded and

website which is Indian Creek k and also the clay

nineteen thirty one, a vintage year, and they've been providing
equine insurance for that would make it wor ninety three years,
that's I think, so yeah, I'm afraid so.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Anyway, but he was very successful in the business, even
though he found it doing the depression. But he was great.
They gave great service and the knowledge of the horse business.
Those qualities are still carried on and so if you
want to do business with. Somebody knows what they're doing.
(27:52):
Just give shack Bruce. Isaac's a call over at the
at the insurance company over there. The Cleaveward Agency number
over there is in the eighty five none number nine
eighty seven eighteen sixty one in the office is right
there on Main Street eleven on two Main Street in Paris, Kentucky.
(28:16):
Great people at Indian Creek and at the cleave Ward Agency.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and ursul Ellis.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
You're looking at your watch.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
Yeah, you gotta go out, Yeah, I got it. Got
It's Danna's birthday.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Oh oh, well, happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
I want to show you one thing before you go.
I bought this especially to show you. It's a picture
a man of war taken in a match raise up
in Canada. And it it's not a real good picture,
but you get an idea of what kind of stride
(29:01):
this horsehead.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
My goodness, that looks like one of the old paintings,
you know.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Yeah, they thought horses looked like yeah when they painted.
Have you ever seen I mean he looked. Somebody looked
at it and said, my god, he's fine. Yeah, And
it wasn't any trick photography. It's old. It's just they
took what they said.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
That's something that is.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
I've showed that to several people and they said, my god,
I know, and.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
That you're right. It's not fixed. That's not a.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
No no, no no, that's the real thing. I mean,
my god, he reaches.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Out so far twenty eight feet.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Well it looks seemed more.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
Well, you know at the horse park they have going
the sidewalk that goes to his ferial site at the
horse park. Yeah, they did us said, here's one stride
of man. Oh my god, start to the finish lefty.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
I've never seen that.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Yeah, I've never seen anything like that.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
There's no other photograph that looks like that.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
No, they just happened to run across.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
It's amazing.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
I was always told that a horse will always have
one foot on the ground.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
See that's what that was such a dispute.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
For so long, and that that photograph proves at least
a man of war's case.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
Yeas not necessarily they're.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
All off the ground, if them. When I was a kid,
I used to hang up bookstores and there was this
book some man had done. He made a circular barn
kind of thing, and he put pictures cameras. Now this
is in the fifties, you know, techy, that wasn't Oh
(30:41):
and he had pictures, tookes all the way around to
prove that the horse had his feet off the ground
at some point. Yeah, that was pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Joe. That to Michael he got fell out of his chair.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
I just think that's incredible. That's a that photograph needs
to be accentuated. I mean, I'd like to.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
I wonder where it is.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
I'm going to take it down to the Bobby.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Well you ought to go out and see Rhoda out
of the library.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Oh yeah, the end, they don't have that picture. They
I've gone through the old thing, you know, and they
can keep files of their pictures, you know, and it's
not in there.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Well, well then you need to take it to Bobby
Shifflet and get a couple of them made, and take
and give one of them to the Kingland Library.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Take us by and see Bobby can do anything with that.
Oh sure, I'll bet you could. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Yeah, I've got a couple of really old pictures that
we've taken over there that they've enlarged, you know. So
you said, I've got these little three by three photographs
from nineteen forty three. You know, wow, and they blow
them up and.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
They do it real good shops.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
You know. When they had celebrated was one hundredth birthday.
It was what it would have been in two thousand
and seven, I guess. And uh. I walked in there
to uh it was the library at Keenan and it
(32:17):
was a picture of spy. There was a picture sitting
up there on the left that was I knew who
it was right well, it was a spot song and uh,
being o wives, I asked, you know, I said, what
are you doing with Spotsal's picture up there? He said,
ever wrote this was Rode. We were just trying to
find out the name of that horse. I know why
(32:38):
they call me, but because he was he was out
of a man of war mare. But anyway, they drove
out all these pictures and one of them is the
picture of man of war.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
It said.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
I looked at that, and I said that ain't man
of war. Yeah you know you would not, and uh yeah.
I showed her to Copeland and he says that ain't
man of war. And it was identified by the the
(33:13):
the veterinarian who had taken care of that horse. I
won't miss his name. But he said, that's that's the
best confirmation picture I ever saw a man of war.
It wasn't and I had to They wanted to argue
with me about it. I said, well, so I started
showing them different things. I said, if nothing else, look
at the length of the tail. His horse's tail was
(33:35):
hanging right down. They looked at Man of Ars tale
Man of Wars. Sure, yeah, yeah, it's funny before you
I know you have to go.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
But what about Sean Washington and the tours.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Well, if Shawn and I have been and our whole
team at Old Friends have been talking about a whole
tour program, you know, Sean's such a great tour guide.
I mean, there's hilarious he is. There is when you
say Unique horse Farm Tours, which is his company, Unique
(34:09):
is the operative word there, you know. And because Seawn
is such a great storyteller and a knowledgeable horseman, I
mean he's the real he's the real deal. But he
can he can tell the story in a way that
you just smile and laugh. And so he's going to
be up as really it'll be as we go into
next year. We're going to have a special relationship with Yeah,
(34:32):
with Sean.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Well, it's kind of getting into cold crummy weather. Spring
is where you want to go.
Speaker 5 (34:37):
Boom, that's that's exactly right. But you're talking about Rhoda
real quick. You know, we've had the pioneers of racing,
the Black horsemen and horsewomen exhibit at Old Friends, and
so everybody ought to come by and see that. If
you haven't seen it yet, Yeah, such a fascinating story. Well,
Rhoda came out and gave a wonderful presentation with a
(34:58):
slide show. Great, what a great speaker that took took
you through the really prior to emancipation all the way
to the day about some of the really great African
American horsemen and horsewomen there were and how important they
(35:20):
were to the development of our industry. And you know
then she said this was right downtown, that this location
is exactly where this person lived. And because I have
never had a real good sense of where the Kentucky
Association track was, for example, I just didn't I know
it was somewhere over on that side of town.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Was it Broadway?
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Oh no, it was down on Ree Street.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Okay, Well, there's a clue that that's a little bit
of a clue.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
There's a housing development.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Yeah, yeah, there's a elementary school that's right that now
is located in the infield of where the track was,
so it gives you a sense. But Oliver Lewis and
all these Isaac Murphy, all these really great horsemen that
had beautiful homes there and they just operated the industry
out of that neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Yeah, that's wonderful.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
And just really compelling stories. So come to old friends
and see that. But also congrats, you know, congrats and
kudos to Rhoda who put it together h and also
tells the story so well. The Kingland Library is a
real it's a jewels.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
Yeah it is. It's really wonderful.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
It's really great. Yeah, it's it's the.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Yeah, it really is a nice like And Rhoda is
one of those people I'm telling you, like your wife.
People meet her and they it stays in their head.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
Yeah, you know, I mean spelling person.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Yeah. And Millie there's another one. You know, there's some people.
Connor McCarthy's wife, she's like that too. Once you meet her,
you just can't get her out of your head because
there's such outgoing, smart by, you.
Speaker 5 (37:15):
Know, the people that light up the room.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Yeah, and that's the one.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
Uh I think, Yes, you're I'm married to one that
his birthday is, you know, coming up.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
And uh, better'll be a good birthday.
Speaker 7 (37:27):
I know.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
Exactly. I am mindful of these things these days for
the last two weeks in one day that I've been,
you know, a married, married man. But you're but you're
right about all that. But you know when you were
talking about the library, I mean the Kingdom Library is
to racing what the Library of Congress is to America.
I mean it is, it's the holy of holies as
(37:50):
far as.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
The isn't it great that we got it? Yes, I
mean there's so many sports just stuff spread around, but
this is great one.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
She took me down to. I'm sure you've probably seen
this too. The you know, the lower levels, which is
they have a system there that if a fire broke out,
that sucks all the oxygen out, so you better not
be down there with the fire, your your curtains. But
it's a sophisticated system to preserve all these old racing
(38:21):
forms and various documents that are.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Back to a couple of them.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
Entry.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Yeah, they've got a couple of dozen cassette tapes of
this show. I don't suck the oxygen out all by itself.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
Well, that's good that they had. They should have that.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Yeah, they were going to transcribe them, and I think
now they've realized you don't have transcribed stuff by hand.
You just put it in some kind of machine. So
anyway it.
Speaker 5 (38:52):
Might make sense out of all the things we talk
about them.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Well, oh, I don't know what's stretching it.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
That's back when we used to recording. Yeah, on a
lot of people I interviewed have been gone forever, Henry White, and.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Yeah, that's that's like that. And we had guessed every
show from different parts of the business. And that's pretty
well worth saving. I know Keenland did a series of
talking to people like interviews you did they did? You?
Henry White always comes to mind, But we had people lots,
(39:35):
you know, dozens and dozens that I think she wouldn't.
It's worth hearing those people.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
They're gone, well, but anybody, it's not. It's it's very accessible.
It's not it's no big deal to go there.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Just go there, and and I don't know what they
do with that.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
I don't know either. But they were going to do
that by hand, and then somebody said.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
Wait a minute, yeah, there'll be.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
A lot easier.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
Well, Rhoda will help you if you want to go
listen to some of those great interviews that you all
did with some some of the legendary people in our business.
They'll set you up with a recording and you can Yeah,
you can get that.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Yeah. Ursul did a fantastic interview with Penny Chennery.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Oh wow, Penny Penny. Yeah, yeah, that was when she
was living in Lexington, when she was living out that
was when they put the statue of Secretariat on that turnaround.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
Yeah, and she loved it because everybody in the world
was talking about Secretariat. Ursul asked her about the farm and.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
All these horses, you know, you know, first landing and
a bunch of horses.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Yeah, and she said that was fun.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
She ended, you know, she said, oh that was fun.
It was a great one. It got lost somewhere.
Speaker 5 (40:52):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
I think it's at the radio station.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (40:58):
Oh okay, okay, well actually a project we need to
find that.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 5 (41:04):
Yeah, I bet, I bet you's somewhere, and.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
God knows, I don't throw him now.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
Well, we asked Bull Robinson to look see if you
could find him, and he couldn't find him. You couldn't
find him down there. They ain't there goes. The station
has moved.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
Since ye downtown now, yeah, well are you going to
the races?
Speaker 5 (41:27):
Well I am, I will. I'm trying to get to
the racist this afternoon. Speaking of Big Brown. One of
Big Brown's successful progeny was Dortmund. And there's a Dortmund
colt named Brinda Chini is running today in the seventh
Is that right? Great too, And so I'm gonna we're
(41:47):
gonna try to get to see that race. And then
of course I got to go to the farm and uh,
he's got to check out our boy Big Brown. See
if he's after the partying all not.
Speaker 3 (41:59):
How he's run today?
Speaker 5 (42:00):
What a guy, Yeah, what a guy loves his fans.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
Well, it's been terrific talking to you.
Speaker 5 (42:07):
Well, it's always fun. And what it is a glorious morning, gorgeous.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
Yeah, tell your bride whoever from me. I haven't seen
her in forever.
Speaker 5 (42:15):
I will do that. I suspect she's listening well now
and hopefully that she's pleased that I did not forget
that it's her birthday, so well, good happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
You'd being a dog as for sure if you did.
Speaker 5 (42:28):
Yeah that I'm aware of that.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
Die for I have to give Jackie. She's said, Jackie,
you remember the day we were born, we were married,
and she forgets, but I remember.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
I don't remember the numbers. I'm not good at numbers.
I don't care about it.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
Meant because the horses too, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
Friends, mutual friends, Yeah, terry, Yeah, introd.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
All those horses. They are continuing to do things for us.
Speaker 3 (42:59):
I know my wife had passed away and and Jackie
was divorced, and anyway we were.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
We met and now let's come on face it. We
both had three kids. Who in the world wants the
carry thought it was a Brady bunch I had.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
I was driving a little Honda station Wagon, which is
about a size that there's coffee table or card table.
And uh, this friend of Jackie's he's driving a little
car like that. And Jackie said told her that, yeah,
but there's a feed tell on her back seat is
(43:43):
full of tack. She said, Oll, that's okay.
Speaker 5 (43:45):
Then that works. Well, I love I love that the
suit that you the suits that you got down in Midway.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
Oh, yeah, has three hundred dollars suit.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
Yeah. I told her I was fussing about that's you old.
She said, you think more about that three hundred dollars suit,
and it's getting married. I said, Hell, I've been married before.
I never had dollars.
Speaker 5 (44:11):
You know, just the right thing to say.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
So, yeah, you know, I really really reallybsolutely.
Speaker 5 (44:17):
Last of the great romantics.
Speaker 2 (44:19):

two Remnen and he did that as a two yul
of course, the Grade two Jim Dandy, the Grade two
Penn Derby, Grade two Resion Star, Grade three Westchester. On
(53:16):
his way to earning two million, two hundred thousand dollars,
he was in the thick of it every time he
stepped on a racetack. Xannon is by the popular start
from the fami an ap Indie line. First thiols are

(53:38):
two nine, four years oh thirty and the website is
expensifarm dot com.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
Okay, and now I get to say a few hopefully
good words for Hill Parker. Hill Parker's a great guy
by the way he uh and a great friend. And
he's one of those people with lots of energy. You know,
it's hard keep up with him, which is super when
you realize that he is a real estate agent and
(54:06):
a horseman. He is a horse farm and land specialist.
He's full time realitary, principal broker and on and on
with all those things. At the same time, he's a
horseman who has done it. He gets it. He has
years of experience in racehorses and events and jumpers and
(54:28):
steeplechasers and all that good stuff. He's a licensed horts
trainer in eleven states. He's been there and he's done that,
and that's what you need if you're going to be
able to farm. Now he knows what to say, for instance,
what are you going to do with the property? Are
you going to breed? Are you going to breed the race?
(54:48):
Are you going to train? Are you going to breed
for sales? And all that stuff is different. Every little
thing has got these different things, and that means that
you have to have the facilities for that particular choice
what you want to do. And then of course he
looks at the structures. You've got to check the barns
(55:09):
and where you're gonna put that hay, and where you're
gonna put that straw and all that good stuff. She
was it's a lot an access. You want to make
sure that you can turn a horse out without walking
a mile and a half to some padd off somewhere.
So anyway, he's experienced he's really a terrific guy. He's
(55:32):
Hill Parker. Here's his phone number.
Speaker 3 (55:36):
Yeah, let me give you good. Best way to get
in touch with Hill and Rigging they work together, of course,
is go to their website which is Lexhorseharms dot com
and the phone number is election to number. They live
in Lectionton sixty eight eighty thirty nine. These are nice people,
(55:58):
guaranteed they do agree. They walk the extra mile for
you exactly.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
Oh, in zoning, I forgot this. He knows all that stuff.
There's restrictions on property and stuff. He knows every bit
of it, knows where to find it.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
Yeah, he really was extremely helpful to us upon one occasion.
And nice guy, a good horseman too.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
Absolutely he came out, he has to come out here.
We'd be up in the cocker stand. He'd pull up
little horse trailer and all by himself, have two horses
in the trailer or something back the mount turn around
sort of half tie to the stuff, and they stood there. Yeah,
and I mean he didn't go off and leave him
(56:43):
not tied. That didn't sound good then, but that was
so impressive of how quiet, how good, how well, how
easy to handle. And then he'd get on him and
go out and work and selling horses, and he'd go
gallop and buy, flying down the track, and you'd see
him reach his left arm over in his right.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
Hand and checking stop that Stucker's clock. I mean, that's
pretty on it. Nice guy, good horseman, great horseman. You
do a great job for You're guaranteed he'll Parker sixty
oh eight eighty thirty nine lex horse Farms dot Com.
Speaker 4 (57:25):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and ursul ellis.
Speaker 3 (57:32):
Well. There were no other stakes at the Keenan today.
The ninth race goes off at five sixteen. It's supposedly
the Lexus Raven runs stakes Grade two. Got a field
of ten. Number one is fibber number two. And I
don't know how to pronounce this. M I U c
(57:53):
c I A m i U c c A c
c I A the hell does that?
Speaker 7 (58:00):
Man?
Speaker 2 (58:01):
I don't know, but it sounds like I'd see a
doctor if I had it coming out of my nose.
Speaker 3 (58:10):
Anyways, By Motoli, it's a very good sire over at
spend Through Farm.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
Very good sire. One of those leading freshman sire last
year and the leading second COPSI this year. My mayor.
My main Squeeze is number three, and the main is
spelled M A N E.
Speaker 2 (58:35):
Oh okay, gotcha.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
Twirling Queen is on number four. Number five is emery
by more than Ready. Number six is another motally two
of them in this v v's dream. Number seven is
a Minx palace by Palace malice. Number eight is U
N O L lay By, a horse that I never
(59:02):
knew exactly how to pronounce his name, k L I
M T Climp climp. What does that mean?
Speaker 2 (59:12):
I don't have no idea. I mean I kind of
thought it was somebody's last name, like Ed Clemped.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
Yeah you remember Ed, Yeah, I remember. I think he
had passed.
Speaker 5 (59:24):
Away, Hope.
Speaker 3 (59:28):
Climp used to staying, used to be standing. Well, I
forget what farmer was now, but he's gone, Thank goodness.
Speaker 5 (59:34):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (59:37):
Ripperton is number nine and on the outside is hauling ice.
Speaker 2 (59:43):
And that's well, that's funny, hauling ice. I think that's
a great name.
Speaker 3 (59:50):
Yeah, I bet I bet you that the track announcer
was glad that horse is gone.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
Yeah, fall here it comes hauling ice.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Yeah, oh goodness. But anyway, that's the two grated sticks there.
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Yeah. Let me tell you what Dortmund died when he
was ten colic. He was in South Korea, Is that right? Yeah?
Used to hate ship horses away from here. You know,
we've got the best bets in the world.
Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
That's scary. He was ten years old. Oh, hi, Betsy,
it's almost nine o'clock.
Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Here comes from man. Hey, I've already done it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Morning. Is it still morning?
Speaker 7 (01:00:50):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
Yeah, we just talk about Dortmund. He died of colic
in South Korea.
Speaker 5 (01:00:55):
Oh yeah, that's too bad.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
Yeah. Well, Grade one Winter Bright Futures by the Great
Curling is available for your inspection of Cleveland, BAMBI, Yeah,
I did that, David stood.
Speaker 5 (01:01:07):
As I did.
Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
I did it out of place, but I did it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:11):
Remember she won the fifteen Okay, she was in Ireland.
Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Well, James is there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Now, soot that mayor, and go ahead and do that
and we'll talk about that. Man.
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
Well, it's I've already did it. I did it out
of out of sequence, so I'll let James do something.
Speaker 7 (01:01:35):
Food.
Speaker 6 (01:01:36):
So good morning. Ear Sault and Jackie had mentioned that
Doormann passing away unfortunately of colic, and I was telling
her I just we I had just seen the news
like a couple of weeks ago where unfortunately Teppin had
passed away. Who won the twenty fifteen Breakers Cup mile
at Keeenlan And who was Teppin that? You know, Mark
(01:01:58):
Cassie trained and she was a great turf horse and
she won a bunch of grade ones, the Woodbine Mile
and other races, and when the Breeders Cup mile at
that first Breeders Cup at Keenland in twenty fifteen. And
then she sold and she sold to overseas and was
standing in Ireland and unfortunately died. I don't remember that
(01:02:22):
if it was in childbirth, but it was last year
or too. But the news just came out this year.
Speaker 2 (01:02:28):
Is that right? Well, I don't feel when they send
him to Ireland.
Speaker 5 (01:02:31):
I think I could this.
Speaker 6 (01:02:33):
Oh yeah, for sure it was a total accident.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Yeah, god knows, and they don't.
Speaker 6 (01:02:37):
Well, they could take care pretty well, they say, and
even in South Korea and in a lot of these countries.
But still that's just a shame when they when you
hear that news. But yeah, good morning, it's good to
be with you. We've got gonna have a sunny day
out of Keenland today. A lot of racing going on.
Were two weeks out from the Breeders Cup, so it's
(01:02:59):
coming quick, and I just want to mention brisnet dot com.
Let's dock Research Information Services, your source of all any
kind of handicapping information. We have past performances, tip sheets, analysis,
data files and more for all North American tracks, plus
(01:03:21):
like this morning's champions Day. And we have international pps
for Ascot that are free. Our internationalpps are free at
brisnet dot com, so check us out. We're gonna, you know,
with the Breeders Cups right around the corner, they're gonna
have the pre entries announced on Wednesday and then they'll
draw the field so following Monday, and we've got a
(01:03:43):
great Breeders Cup handicapping package. It's going to have a
whole bunch of handicapping sheets, fair odds analysis. We've got
a great Breeders Cup International Scouting Report that's going to
have the low down and information on all the international
runners from Europe, Japan, wherever they're coming from. And also
(01:04:07):
if you sign up for this package, we'll give you
twenty percent off any other products we have that aren't
included in it. So make sure you check out britainet
dot com for all your handicap and needs, especially with
the around the Breeders Cup here very good.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Breeders Cup start on Thursday, the thirty first.
Speaker 6 (01:04:25):
No, it starts on Friday, the first, Okay, got it. Then, Yeah,
they run five five juvenile races that day, the Juvenile Turf.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Sprints of Courses Saturday.
Speaker 6 (01:04:36):
Saturday, they run nine races and they've changed changed. Yeah,
it's two weeks away and they're gonna I think they
draw the pre entries Monday, but they announced the Wednesday.
So basically that's going to give you a feel for
the fields. Because horses can cross in er. A lot
of these international horses will, but you have to give
(01:04:58):
first preference. Like it'll be interesting to see, uh you
know everybody. I mean thorpede Anna looks like she's definitely
gonna run in the distapt but she could still cross
enter to the Breeders' Cup classics. So there'll be some
we'll see some We'll see some horses cross enter to
multiple to two races, but they have to give first
and second preference, and that doesn't always hold. I thought
(01:05:21):
the one of the greatest examples was when Mendelssohn won
the Breeders' Cup juvenile turf. They actually made him first
preference to the juvenile, second preference to the juvenile turf,
and then because they have to put that in two
weeks out, they decided to run him in the juvenile
turf and he won it. So yeah, it's good, doing
(01:05:43):
pretty good at stud out there at Ashford. Yeah, they're
loaded with stallions out there. Definitely justify uh you know,
the hottest, the world's hottest young sire out there.
Speaker 7 (01:05:54):
So yeah, the.
Speaker 6 (01:05:58):
Racing today, Keenlan, We do have a pair of steaks
going on today. We have the Grade three Perryville for
three year olds and at seven furlongs and that drew
an absolutely fascinating field book them Dano, who I thought
was the best three year old sprinter dirt sprinter in
(01:06:19):
the nation earlier this year he sort of didn't like
go on a little bit in the summer, had a
real tough race in the Jersey Sour Steaks and then
ran third in the Alan Jerkins Memorial. But he he's
gonna run now in that Perryville and he'll probably be favored.
But we have locked who is coming back. He ran,
(01:06:44):
you know, he won the Breeders Security last year and
then he was second in the breeder or third in
the Breeders Cup Juvenile and second in the Breeders Cup
Juvenile and then he was a top derby contender coming
into the year and he was training for the Fountain
of Youth and had some kind of issue with his
leg and didn't miss the race after entering in it
(01:07:04):
and has been off till now. So they're getting him
going again. They got Knight's Bridge in there. He was
a horse by Curl and it broke his maiden going
a mile on the sixteenth on the dirt last year
at Churchill on Breeders Cup Friday Day by like eight Lentz.
I thought he was brilliant and actually bet on him
in the first Kentucky Derby pool or maybe the second one,
(01:07:25):
but the one over Thanksgiving and then he has only
run once. He came back and won an allowance by
nine lentz, but he had some kind of skin disease issue.
He's finally got it behind him. He got some other
nice horses in that field as well. And then the
other race, the feature is the Grade to Raven Raven
(01:07:47):
Run and that's for three year old phillies at seven furlongs.
You know we're two eight weeks out from the Breeders Cup,
but this race has produced a Breeders Cup Phillia Mayre
Sprint winner before. Shamrock Rose won this race back in
twenty eighteen and came right back two weeks later and
(01:08:08):
won the Philiamare Sprint at Churchill. So I don't think
any of the runners in this year's field, but the
one to beat in there is number five Emery. She's
going She could have run in the Philiamare Sprint. She
exits the second in the Test to Ways and means
it will be one of the favorites at del mar
in that Philiamare Sprint. But instead she's going to go
(01:08:31):
for this race, probably point for all those big grade
ones next year. And her main rivals are my Main
Squeeze who exits a big win at Churchill Downs and
it's a great two winner, and Fibber who ran second
last time on my Main Squeeze but didn't have the
cleanest trips. I got a couple of horses of interest
today that I will have that I think have a
(01:08:52):
chance to run well. First off in race eight. It's
an allowance race. I like number one Perros. I like
the races. He's stepping up in class for mic Maker,
but I think it's a little bit of an underwhelming
field and he's got a chance carry his form forward.
And the other horse I like and Race ten a
maiden race for two year old phillies on the turf.
I like High Breeze number eight. So number eight and
(01:09:16):
Race ten and number one in Race eight are my
two plays today. I do think the favorites in those
two steaks, the Raven Run and the Perryvale look pretty formidable.
Speaker 3 (01:09:27):
Ursul Okay, but.
Speaker 6 (01:09:29):
I know you got something all like wind up for me?
Uh this was racing. Uh something you gotta something you
wanted to show me?
Speaker 7 (01:09:39):
Is that right?
Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
Who showed you?
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:09:42):
The Man of War?
Speaker 6 (01:09:43):
Okay, Oh okay, I.
Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
Thought you had to.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
I wrote that in to show to John.
Speaker 6 (01:09:49):
Okay, sounds good, sounds good.
Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
I've shown to a bunch of horsemen and most of
them just Joe's dropped.
Speaker 5 (01:09:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:09:57):
Last week, I'll tell you that Queen Elizabeth, that's a
the biggest race of the second weekend, and that she
feels pretty really got back on track, looked awesome, just
blistered the competition, you know, one in commanding fashion. So
I thought that was a real encouraging performance for her.
She's like back on track now. This year has not
(01:10:18):
gone how they expected it for her, and it's always
good in my mind to see if fella get back
going in the right direction. And she looks like she
could be really good next year. So yeah, we got
got some racing for sure. This Weekend's gonna be a
little bit slow next weekend and then we'll.
Speaker 5 (01:10:37):
Be in the Breeders' Cup.
Speaker 6 (01:10:39):
You're not going, Yeah, I'm not going to del Mar,
Gonna be watching on TV. Been to a lot of
Breeders Cups and I've been to Delmar before, but not.
Speaker 7 (01:10:48):
Going this year.
Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
It's a fun tractor go to it.
Speaker 6 (01:10:51):
Oh yeah, I mean just the area around it is great.
I mean it's way you know, sant Anita, I think
is a beautiful venue, and I love the location in
the mountains and everything. But there's a big difference to
me being down there in San Diego or being in
Los Angeles. It's just so relaxed. It's just a different feel. Yeah,
(01:11:12):
you can see the beach and the racetrack, and they've
got lots of little supporting towns and there's places to
stay around La Jolla is the town del Mar's in
and so yeah, I've been out there several times and
love it.
Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
Yeah, great fun track to go to.
Speaker 2 (01:11:30):
Well, yeah, it's great to go. But by golly, you's
I swear you see more on television, you know, I mean,
you can't be everywhere when you're you will be here
next week.
Speaker 6 (01:11:42):
But yeah, I'll be here next week and I'll definitely
give you some Breeders Breeders Cup picks the following week.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
But now, are you going to go to Keenland for
Breeders Cup where you're staying home?
Speaker 6 (01:11:57):
Well, I'm gonna probably stay home, but I might have
of like some other stuff, like some video work or
something to do as well.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
So I'm not sure what the plane is we want
if you're gonna just give us.
Speaker 6 (01:12:10):
The winners. Yeah, they've they've switched the schedule around this year.
I mean, the cl Classic was always the last day
on Saturday for you know, thirty nine years or whatever.
Last year they actually moved it to seventh. So after
the Breeders Cup last year, they ran the Breeders' Cup
Sprint and the ter Sprint on Peacock And because the
(01:12:33):
NBC went to UH football Fox or whoever has it,
and then uh, this year they're making it the fifth
race of the nine races. So after the Breeders' Cup Classic,
you still have the Mile and three other races, but
the Miles, the big one that's after it. You know,
(01:12:54):
that's to me, the Miles always one of the most
compelling races. Might not be a race that everybody remembers,
but I think as a handicapper and horse player, the
Miles always one of the most Capelli races.
Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
It seems like the only reason they do that is
the time.
Speaker 6 (01:13:10):
Yeah, I mean, and you know, if this was on
the East Coast, if this was in New York or
hear in Kentucky or somewhere, I don't think it would
be a problem. They could, you know, basically, get them
get the Classic going at four forty five if they
wanted to, or for forty. Yeah, but in California it's
just three hours behind, and they don't want to start
the Breeders' Cup races at nine thirty their time or
(01:13:30):
whatever they would have to do.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
But the next day is the end of daylight savings.
We all get our hour back. So thank you, Lois.
Speaker 6 (01:13:40):
I'm not a big fan of regular time. I liked
daylight savings. I'd go for it all year round.
Speaker 8 (01:13:46):
Oh no, no, no, no no, they stole by hour
and I god, I want it back, cold, dark and cold.
Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
That's kind of stuff.
Speaker 6 (01:13:59):
You got to have a great rest of your weekend.
Always pleasure to join you and always. That's a lot
to anybody listening.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
Yeah. Absolutely, I wonder who our other listener was after
mom passed.
Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
We don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
We'll have a good one already. Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
We'll see you next week. All right, all right, all right,
let's see where we are. Where we are is favoring
Farmer Farm. Okay, A Grade one win A Bright Future
by the Great Curling is available for your inspection over
at Claven Farm where he's going to stand his first
(01:14:41):
season has stood in twenty twenty five. This horse says
all the credentials to be an outstanding sire you want
at the highest Grade one level. He's about great sire
and proving South sire. His damn one steaks and has
produced two graded stakes winners, Bright Future and Musical Missie
the Letter, a Grade two winner and Grade one place,
(01:15:02):
earning over five hundred and fifteen thousand. He also has
the confirmation to matches. Pettygreek go to Clemingham, take a look.
I'll be glad to show him to you. He didn't
judge for yourself. We think you're gonna like what you see.
Bright Future won his career debut at gold String Park,
followed by another score over the same course, then moved
to Saratoga to post back to back wins. The second
(01:15:25):
of these was the Grade one Jackety Club Gold Cup.
He also won the Grade three sabote a Mile at
Momoth and the careers in he had earned nine hundred
and forty seven thousand, nine hundred and forty dollars. Now
you know Curlin Stutfee has climbed a two hundred and
fifty thousand dollars. That's because his size runners like Bright Future.
(01:15:45):
He also started champing to your Good Magic, who has
signed winners of the Kentucky Derby in Belmont Station his
first two cups. His fee for twenty twenty four was
one hundred and twenty five thousand. Bright Future's female family
has produced literally the the black type runners, among them
the Brillant Housebush, also a Grade one steak swinner. You
(01:16:05):
want a hopeful Steaks That was new Tellerfellow who is
about Run Happy. It's in the same pedigree because run
Happy is right. Future Stable made out of Claven Farm
called Jacob West at eight five nine ninety seven two
three three. You'll go take a good look at Bright
Future and the website is Clavenfarm dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
And I guess to talk about another fine outfit in Paris, Kentucky,
and that would be the Hopewell Insurance Agency.
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
We've been with them for years, well, they've.
Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
Been around for years. For crying out loud, we've I
guess we've been with them thirty years. But they were
established in nineteen fifty five. And when you're hunting around
for something like that, you think, now, who's been a
success at it and who ain't. And somebody's been around
since nineteen fifty five knows what they're doing obviously. So
(01:17:00):
it's the Hope Well Company Ted McClain, and you know
over there on main streets it's they're super people. We've
always been more satisfied. It's an independent agency.
Speaker 5 (01:17:13):
This is a butte.
Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
They don't work for some mega worldwide company that doesn't
know anybody's face or anything about people, and they work
for their client. So what they do is they use
a carefully selected group of financially sound, reputable companies. So
(01:17:36):
what they do is they go shopping for you so
they can offer you the best coverage at the most
competitive price and.
Speaker 6 (01:17:45):
Not for yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
So also they can give you a no cause, no
obligation review in comparison of your insurance. And you know
when they've shopped around, they've shopped around to the right places.
It's terrific. It's a full service in show and agent
sy they're a local number nine eight seven two three
four seven or stop by the office at eight twenty
(01:18:07):
Main Street. Just open the door, walk in and it's
that kind of service, of that kind of good people.
Speaker 5 (01:18:14):
They'll do a great job for you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
All right, Well you tell you George, Those alable everywhere
with the iHeartRadio app now number one for podcasting.
Speaker 4 (01:18:27):
Now back to Horsetails with ursul Ellis.
Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
Okay, and we talked about the Rave and Run and
the Perio stations running one of the other grated stakes today.
It's a lot of racing day. That's the Ontario Derby
at Woodburn and it's got a field of seven Baylor's
out Roscar two ghosts, Swift Delivery Dresden, Roe Babou and
(01:18:55):
Miss Roberts and the letter Fold in France. I understand
ghost Eppers have retired. Yeah, yeah, I heard that last week.
I think he went back. He was sending him back
up to Canada. They've got is that right farm up?
But at fir retirement.
Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
Yeah, but that's speaking of that sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
Yeah, they are. They are tomorrow running a couple not
they're not grated stakes, but they're running a couple of
stakes at Kielan at Belmont Belmont, they run the Athene
of Steaks. It's a mile and a half on the
grass for three o's and up Phillis and mayors. Got

were coming to Kentucky.
Speaker 7 (01:21:28):
Brian just trying to get ahead of paperwork, and I
have some classes I have to teach, and then I
got some research projects we want to do. So I've
been just trying to get off underneath paperwork. But if
(01:21:51):
I can find a way. Next week's when I was
really wanting to come.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
Roger. I want to make it to Keenan.
Speaker 7 (01:22:01):
Oh yes, sir, they're still they still running next week
hopefully they are. But I haven't even looked to say
the truth?
Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
Is your coat up here now?
Speaker 6 (01:22:11):
Now he's here.
Speaker 7 (01:22:12):
I'm hoping he doesn't know he's a boy yet. I'm
hoping that if I can keep him here till late winter,
that's gonna be my goal. If he can not get
too interested in being a colt until then, I'd like
to you, Okay, keep him till the end of winter.
Speaker 2 (01:22:31):
Okay, who's he turned out with? What's he turned out with?
Speaker 7 (01:22:36):
He's turned out with the whole group up there. He
and Murty get along really good. Now they raised together.
And everything he's not, she doesn't care. So we've got
you know, him and I love my other retired mayor.
And we got Sonya's old riding horse. And then we've
(01:22:57):
got the Many that came from Kentucky, and they would
get a little he's a tiny little many that we
adopted here. That was another orphan. And uh, they're they're
big buddies. Him and the new Many. They they're usually
within about twenty feet each other when they go outside
and raised in the pastor.
Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
Stand Is that many stand by in case the little
silver Charm goes to that pastor in the sky.
Speaker 6 (01:23:31):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:23:32):
He would do it because this this that horse. He
loves people, because he's because he's in the in the school.
You know he was. Here's the rescue that adopted him.
They do amazing work called rocking or if anybody wants
rocking our horse rescue that they wants to follow him
on Facebook or anything. But they they will go to
(01:23:55):
sail barns and the and they they will get anything
of the sail bar that's in bad shape. I mean
they do. I mean it's they're there angels for what
they do. And you should see the horses they rescue.
And he was folded in a sail varn, and so
they knew, you know, that he wasn't going to get
up a good start in life. So they went and
(01:24:18):
bottom and the mayor ended up projecting him. So I
tell he ended up at the school. So of course
you know he wasn't but I don't know. I think
he was nineteen pounds or something. So the bad students
fell in love with him. So he was spoiled really
bad before I got him. So he loves people. He
would take a person a person job somewhere because he
(01:24:42):
would be happy at it.
Speaker 3 (01:24:44):
Okay, all right, anything exciting going on down there?
Speaker 7 (01:24:51):
Well, I saw some Kentucky news. I was interesting. I
had read some about it, but I saw a news
story about it that about tape arms becoming resistant to
d warmer. And yeah, tape arms are harder to diagnose
in horses because everyone's got dogs and cats. You know,
(01:25:13):
you see those little, uh, they're called proglottieds, those little
little pieces of rice that and really what that is,
that's the last piece off that tapeworm, and they'll just
break off and they'll pass out the manure. And those
things are really just packet full of tape arm eggs,
is what they are. So the tapeworm eggs got ahead
that stays attached and here comes thos proglotted. So they're
(01:25:37):
very hard to see in horses. You know, you almost
never see proglotteds in equine manure. I guess I can't
even clearly remember ever seeing one, and so they're hard
to diagnose that way. And it's not really common to
even see tape arm eggs. If you do routine egg
(01:25:59):
per gram check serve vehicles on horses, it's not all
that common to see tapeworm eggs because eggs are usually
in those proglotta's those sections. So it's kind of unusual
that there's just an egg that you can find. But
one thing they found is at UK and know their
names up there in Kentucky, have noticed is there de
(01:26:20):
worming horses for tapeworms. They're starting to see some resistance.
So you know, normally if you use a D warm
worm that's that will kill whatever worm you're after, you
should see a ninety percent or better decrease in the
eggs from when you d worm them. And then you
(01:26:43):
come back and you reacheck them ten to fourteen days later,
you should have ninety percent or more reduction in eggs.
So it's a little harder. Tapeworm says, they don't pass
eggs much anyway. But they were noticing than in these
horses and then D worms with D warmers that should
get tapeworms, that they were still seeing tape arm eggs.
And I went back and looks and worked at UK,
(01:27:06):
and we only have two drugs that killed tape arms
and horses, and one's called prosy quantel. That that's in
there's an ibor making gold and quest plus that's prosy
Quantel's in there. And that's a really specific anti tapeworm drug.
And they found that in urines only about twenty percent
(01:27:29):
of them are were effective. And then they found in
another drug we use is strongent, you know, the yellow
D one where the pair tail. If you double those
that you have double those that'll get tape arms and
only about fifty reduction in those. So it's it's unusual
(01:27:53):
because that's one you we don't necessarily think about that much.
H you know, I D one you twice a year
for tapes usually, but you know, like all the other
other wormers or other parasites, you know, they're starting to
get some resistance to it. And you know, tapeworms can
cause problems like they really right to get in the
(01:28:15):
horse where the ilium's small intestine comes into the secum.
The sekum's over there on the right. That's kind of
start of the large of testing is they can affect
how that testine dumps into them into the cecum and
down here we see helio impactions, which is feed and
tail gets stuck in that ilium. You know, pretty commonly.
(01:28:38):
You don't see that in Kentucky really so, and that's
due to the coast of Premiere grass Hay that's here,
but you know in Kentucky gets here those those impact
inter suceptions which really got to kind of get like
we take your sock off of it. The telescopes into itself.
You can see some of those and and just abnormal
abdemony as a movement. So you know, it's just just
(01:29:02):
gonna show our de warmers are starting to lose their efficacy.
And there's not there's not anything that anybody knows everything.
I know that that's gonna come and take the place
new drugs anytime soon. So we just have to be
really careful with the drugs we have.
Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
No Okay, okay, well let us know if you're coming
up here, make sure you come by.
Speaker 7 (01:29:33):
I've got a I've got a couple of things they
gotta do this week, and I if they if it
times out at the right spot in the week, I'm
gonna be able to do it. So there's any way
I can't, I'm gonna make it up there.
Speaker 3 (01:29:46):

if you want, well, whenever you want.
Speaker 3 (01:37:32):
Uh, I'll tell you what I think. I'm a little
change of pace. Okay, I think I'll read something from.
Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
What are you going to read?
Speaker 3 (01:37:41):
Gas House Game?
Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
Okay, I got to tell you something real quick. The
Gas House Gang, you know what who they were?
Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
Well, I'm gonna tell you in a second.
Speaker 6 (01:37:51):
No, not the horses.
Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
Where that came from?
Speaker 3 (01:37:54):
Oh? I think it was the old Saint Louis Brown team.
Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
Yes, And they went to New York to play, and
they stuck. They had dirty uniforms, none of them had
a shower of bath or anything for days, and they
looked like the wrath of God. They were so terrible.
And in New York in Lower Manhattan. There was a
lower east side large gas tanks, and it was a
(01:38:18):
foul smell, and the neighborhood was filled with drunks and
unkrowly people, along with plenty of vagrants. So when Saint
Louis blew into town to play New York, they named
him the gas house Gang because they don't now you know.
I looked that up because I had never known why.
Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
Okay, okay, okay. This is a written by Joe Palmum,
and I've got a few minutes here I think to
read it. I'll go ahead and read this now. The
record say that Jolly Roger earned one hundred and forty
three thousand, two hundred and forty dollars, which is wolfully incomplete.
(01:38:58):
He was a great steeple chase in an era of
great steeple chasers, and he won the Grand National at
Belmont under one hundred and sixty five pounds in nineteen
twenty seven, wanted again the next year under one hundred
and sixty seven pounds. He ran for Missus Paine Whitney,
which is a good thing for a horse. And after
he left the races in nineteen thirty he went back
(01:39:19):
to the paddocks of Green Tree Farm to grow old
gracefully with the world's record for earnings by chaser Missus Whishy.
Missus Whitney did not know it, but Jolly Rogers' earnings
days weren't over a good Many tourists from Hour and
Maine and Kansas get the Green Tree every year, and
of course they want to see famous sources. There were
(01:39:40):
some children on the farm owned by some of the
resident employees, and they found this situation interesting. I want
to see Saint germains. They'd ask a questionnaire. If they
found the visitors knew little enough, they'd offer a man
of war for that matter eclipsed. Whatever the choice, one
of the the youngsters would run out and catch old
(01:40:02):
Jolly Roger. It was a very flashy horse with a
blazed face and four white stockings, and he could be
led by child with a silk string. The act was
always good for a quarter or half a dollar, and
Jolly Roger was probably shown as much as any horse
in Kentucky, though never under his own name. Presently to
(01:40:22):
share his fathers came Cherry Pye, which is one of
Missus Whitney's best loved horses, and then twenty grand with
his record for the derby, and there was Eastern Hero
finally to make a forth. The farm staff, lamentedly addicted
to baseball broadcasting season, called them the gas house game.
You won't recall Eastern Hero because he raced over the
(01:40:45):
fences in England. He was good enough, but his frame
rests largely on the way he played Mary Hell on
the field of Aintree ran nationally in nineteen twenty eight.
This was the notorious renewal in which forty two horses
started and only the one hundred to one shot Tipperary
tim finished damaged, although the American entry Billy Barton was
(01:41:07):
remounted after pecking the last jump and finished second. No
other finished it all but largely because of the Eastern Hero.
He hit the canal turn fence, but instead of going
over landed the straddle of it. Billy Barton, too close
to turn out, cleared fence ditch, an Eastern Hero and
one prodigious leap, but several others fell and more refused.
(01:41:30):
Eastern Hero finally fell back off the fence into the
ditch on the near side, where he ran up and
down for a while and nothing followed behind. With the
attempt to jump it all. This cut the field to
half a dozen or so, and ain'tries. Murderers. Fences took
care most of the others, which had got over twenty
(01:41:50):
grand had won the Derby in nineteen thirty one in
track record times, sweeping down the stretch with a great rush.
He was later tried into stud but proved in gervery stero.
There was an attempt to train him again. He ran
in the first fast Santinita Handicap in nineteen thirty five,
but this didn't work farewell either, so he was brought
(01:42:10):
back to the farm and turned out with the other pensioners.
It would be nice to think that these four old
warriors remembered their days of glory and argued during the
hot summer afternoons about whether steep who chasing was honest,
though the chances are they didn't. But at least they
had the big paddocks and the tall grass, and their
own company and long years of idlest As the years passed,
(01:42:33):
their reputations were largely forgotten. There had always been plenty
of horses better than Cherry Pie. Whilaway broke twenty grands
Derby record with an even more spectacular rush many another
horse came down at Aintree to the detriment of the
field behind him, But year after year Johnny Rodgers held
to his record. No other steapoo chaser had ever earned
(01:42:54):
as so much as he, but faster even than the
race horses runs. The white horse Cherry Pye was the
first to go. He died in nineteen forty seven at
the age of twenty seven. In February nineteen forty eight,
the Eastern Hero rose to his last fence, and then
a month later, twenty Grand came to the end of
his days at the age of twenty. This left Jolly
(01:43:17):
roger An aging twenty six, as a lonely survivor, and
all the years since he had left the fences, his
record had remained virtually the only money record except top flights,
which had was through the big terraces other than nineteen forties.
Then on opal on June. On July the second, Elkridge's
(01:43:38):
ten year old veteran of a thousand fences shook off
the field in the Indian River Steeplechase at Delware Park
and with a purse of eight eight hundred, set a
new steeplechasing mark for earnings on July the third, the
guest House Gang was disbanded. Jolly Roger died at Greentree.
(01:44:00):
So that's the story that.
Speaker 8 (01:44:03):
I don't wonder if they know where that paddock is
over there.
Speaker 3 (01:44:07):
It was part of g Gainsway, now.
Speaker 2 (01:44:10):
I know, but I wonder if they know what paddock was.
That's kind of interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:44:14):
Well, it had to be a field in those field, okay,
paddock field whatever. Okay, moving right along, Where are we
at Spendthrift. Okay, let's see. Let's take a look at Spendthrift.
Talk about Golden Sands by in the Mischief east side
(01:44:37):
of Winter in the Kentucky Derby. How can you improve
on that? Well, he's a top ten SI in twenty
twenty four. He side thirty winners, thirty stakes winners, eighty
did have won a place, and it's feed for two
thousand and twenty four with ten thousand dollars stands of nurses.
There's another ranked son of ind Michief on this year's
side is He stands for sixty five thousand, ranked below
(01:45:00):
Golden Streams. Go figure. Golden Sence stands at spend three farm,
the Breeders Farm, as does one of his sons by
my standards, went up to me in two hundred ninety
four thousand, four hundred and twenty dollars. His fee is
five thousand dollars. Stands in nurses. He is also a
strong representative of the nation's number one sideline. And remember
(01:45:20):
Golden Cents won three Grade one stakes, won the Grade
one Breeders Cup mile twice and earned over three million dollars. Now,
let's call your attention to another Kentucky Derby horse standing
his friends with Zendon. He didn't win it, but he
placed in it. He did win a Grade one Blue
gear Safe and the Grade two Woodward. And in addition
to the Kentucky Derby, he placed in the Grade one Travers,
(01:45:43):
the Grade one Whitney, the Grade one Metropolitan, the Grade
two Remsen that was as a two year old, the
Grade two Jim Dandy, the Grade two Pennsylvania Derby, the
Grade two Risen Star, and the Grade three West Sister.
On his word, on his way to earning two million,
two hundred thousand dollars, he was and the thick of
it every time he went to the post. Zand On
is by the popular shot up start from the aid
(01:46:06):
famed ap and d Line. His first rolds are due
in twenty twenty five and he's an outstanding visual fee
ten thousand dollars. For more on the stands expensive cause
there is Brian Mark or Daniel eight five nine four
as usual thirty in the website is spensifarm dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:46:25):
All right, now I get to talk about good old
Sally horse fans. One of them drove by the farm yesterday.
That thing was big and good looking. I don't know
they call him eighteen wheelers, but that it was beautiful.
It's they're special company. Down through the years, many of
the greatest runners ever to step on a racetrack had
(01:46:48):
walked into a Sally Van on the way to win
the Derby and the Breeders Cup and a triple Crown.
And I saw Justify get off of Sally Vans. And
next time you think about shipping your across the county
of the country, remember good enough for Justify, it's good
enough for you. So sally Vans are always in tip
(01:47:09):
top shape and the person behind the wheel is an
experienced driver and an experienced horseman, And that, my friends,
is a winning combination. Folks at Sally Van wouldn't have
it any other way, and that's why for more than
gobbled good. I don't know how many decades it's been,
They've been around forever anyway, The Sally Vans have always
(01:47:33):
been the safest way to the winner circle. It's a
local number two five five ninety four oh six. That's
two five five ninety four six. And see the website
at Sally horse Vans dot com. Enjoy the ride.
Speaker 4 (01:47:51):
Now back to Horsetails with ursul Ellis.
Speaker 3 (01:47:57):
Did they run an electus raven runs day today? Isn't
that right? I believe that's today, A beautiful day for it. Yeah,
out of Keenan. The first one was run back in
nineteen ninety nine. The race is not very old for us.
I go h philly name Dreamy Maiden wanted. Dreamy Maiden
(01:48:21):
was by Meadow Lake out of Spare Lake by Appalachi
Spare Lake. Her damn had was a good race mayor.
She had won stakes up in Canada, and she was
also the grand dam of a nice horse that had
(01:48:41):
one stakes racist Miss Zendaron. The second damn the damn
of Sparrow Lake was Easy Flight by Viceregal. That's Canada
was the damn of every Steady who was also racial
one stakes up in Canada. You know it's uh, it's
(01:49:05):
uh kind of an ordinary kind of family. She wasn't herself,
was not much of a producer. She didn't didn't produce
anything as a matter of fact. But many Laker was
my horse name Hold Your Peace, who was by speak John.
(01:49:26):
I think Hold her Peace stood in Florida. Uh but uh,
sweet John of course stood over here the immandor for him.
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
Yeah, that's a great name too.
Speaker 3 (01:49:37):
Yeah. The two thousand and two winner.
Speaker 5 (01:49:44):
Was No.
Speaker 3 (01:49:46):
Two thousand and two was a sight seek by Distant View.
Distant View is by mister Prospector out of seven Springs.
I got to see him. He stood over at Judmont
Farm wanting to look at the h he meden and
(01:50:06):
uh miss and Mass. I love miss and Mass.
Speaker 5 (01:50:11):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:50:11):
He's been always one of my favorite horses still alive
over there a Judmud by the way.
Speaker 2 (01:50:16):
Yeah, that's wonderful.
Speaker 3 (01:50:17):
And I looked at the Brent disinview out and disin
view to look at him, and I've tried to find
something nice to say about him, funny, but I kept
my mouth shut. But he was uh very crooked, say yeah,
(01:50:40):
but he was a good stud of horse, you know, uh,
he said, well, fair kind of stet arse. But he
was the swer of sight Seek, and Sightseek was out
of Viviana by Nuriev. I'm not mistaken, nu Yev stood.
I'm not so sure about that. Well, I think he
(01:51:06):
stood right across the street here, across from anyway. But
Sight's Sake is out of the Liviana Biev and Viviana
was also she was a stakes winner in France. She
also was the damn of a nice villa named Tates
Creek who won the Grade one Gamely Breeders Cup Handicap
(01:51:29):
and won the Grade one Diana Handicap, placed in a
bunch of other states. She went over to Ireland and
she had some steakes winners over there, and spirit Ridge
by Nathaniel was a group snakes went over there, and
she was a grand Dame of fulsom By in the
Mischief who went to Maion two hundred and forty four thousand,
(01:51:50):
won the Oakland Mile. She was a granddame also a
special Duty by Hennessy, and Special Duty was a champion
too ol'filli in Europe Highway Philly in France, and she
was the name of Presidency and Seitseek was a terrific
(01:52:10):
race mayor as the Three Oaks. She won the top
Flight Grade two, won the Raven Run Grade three. At four,
she won the Bill Dame Grade one, the Ogden Phipps
Grade one, the Gopher one Grade one, the Human a
disc Gay Grade one. By my account, that's four grade
(01:52:30):
one stakes that she won. She also placed in the
Grade one Santa Margarita, the Grade one Santa Monica Handicap,
the Grade one Bill Dame, the Grade one Ruffian, and
the Grade one Ogden Phipps, and the Grade two Rampart Handicap.
And she was a very ordinary producer. They Bretter, the
(01:52:52):
Empire Maker. It was unraised, the Breder, the Giants Causeway
was never named. Then she had her only black type
horn us a cold named Raison Diata by ap Indy,
and he ran second in the Curling Curling States at
Saratoga and placed in the Grade three Discovery Handicap. Went
(01:53:15):
to study over in Saudi Arabia. Understand Raison de Utah,
But that was that was not much of them of
a produce record for mayoras of that quality. Okay, let's see, well,
it's about time now to take a look at them
(01:53:42):
the Thirdbred Center. Some of the winners, recent winners from
over there. Yesterday Keenan. Paulo Lobo won a nice race.
Speaker 2 (01:53:53):
Out there, Yes, a lot of nice money.
Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
Yeah, and then it was yesterday that they before and
a meal one one at Horseshoe in Annapolis. And the
day before that and a meal one another one up
at Horseshoe in Annapolis. So that's that's pretty good.
Speaker 7 (01:54:16):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:54:17):
Other recent winners were were saddled by Edward Karamoy and
ed Rogan Camp, Papa Matashka, Michael and Ewing. Edward Karamoy
again that was he settled, went out of Keenan, and
let's see who else. Maria Pinzon had a winner at
(01:54:40):
down the Mountaineer. Not many people down here go to
to Not many people from training center go to Mountaineer
as a matter of fact.
Speaker 8 (01:54:52):
You know, that's that's you're right.
Speaker 2 (01:54:54):
I wonder why, I wonder if the roads are funkier.
Speaker 3 (01:54:57):
Well, I don't know, huh, I have no ideas. It's
not an easy drive down there. If you, thank god
you and I never had to go down there.
Speaker 2 (01:55:06):
Yeah, the run, I don't know. If there you get
better persons, probably better persons other places, and they run
at night, which means you'd have to spend the night.
Speaker 3 (01:55:21):
Well anyway, but this is a great place to train
horses right here, and you can you know, access you
were you a mile from the Internet and net if
you're going up to what used to be river Downs
up there and Turfway.
Speaker 2 (01:55:39):
The Turfway is up there down on the Levey.
Speaker 3 (01:55:42):
We took many a trip up the Turfway.
Speaker 2 (01:55:45):
C Yeah, it was river Downs and it was a floodwall. Yeah,
dressing it up.
Speaker 5 (01:55:52):
It's like I live on.
Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
Sanderson, East States shaboom or something. Yeah, I charge, Okay,
go ahead, I'm finished.
Speaker 3 (01:56:01):
They had a great grass track up there, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
Yeah, well I'm flooded every year.
Speaker 3 (01:56:09):
I don't know. But anyway, it was great water on it.
We used to run up when it was Riverdale.
Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
The world's greatest sandwiches. Yeah, oh yeah, brats and all
that kind of German stuff. Good food.
Speaker 3 (01:56:25):
Yeah, okay. Well, it's a great place to train out
here if you can get stalls.
Speaker 2 (01:56:31):
Yeah. I wonder how the stall things going. There's a
lot of people right now.
Speaker 3 (01:56:35):
They stay pretty much most of these people here and
now spend a year around.
Speaker 2 (01:56:39):
Yeah, and they've been here forever.
Speaker 3 (01:56:41):
Yeah, it's like we were here forever. I know, I
know she is, But it's Jim Pindogress runs it. And
of course the tracks out here are great. He takes
care of them tracks here at the third Bed Center
and they got two tracks. They got a grass gallop.
(01:57:03):
He also takes care of the tracks out of Canaan
and they've got a grass track there and their track.
But it's a great place. If you want to stall
or something, give them a call. Let me give a
gym's number. It's an eight five nine number two nine
three eighteen fifty three. But I've been giving a signal
and it's time first to say goodbye.
Speaker 5 (01:57:25):
Go cast, Go cast.
Speaker 3 (01:57:26):
Who did they play today?
Speaker 8 (01:57:29):
Quart?
Speaker 3 (01:57:31):
Who for?
Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
Yeah? Florida here there?
Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
They sure screwed it up lace. Oh my god, they
had it one. Yeah, but that's typical Kentucky, Kentucky for all.
Talk to you next week.
Speaker 5 (01:57:55):
Keeps it.
Speaker 4 (01:58:00):
Who cares about the clouds? When we're to getther sing.
Speaker 1 (01:58:06):
