Speaker 5 (03:32):
You want annoy an interesting little question about Pooka. What
so Pooka has Ursall rightly pointed out as that the
dam of door knock.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
And mage R.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
And her sire is Big Brown, the latest resident that
fabulous place in Georgetown, Kentucky, Old Wyeah. How about that?
Speaker 6 (03:54):
How about how's it doing?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
I know we're getting a lot of calls now wanting
to take it out of retirement.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
That's great.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
We get calls like that every once in a while.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Oh funny.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
Somebody called the other day wanted to breed the Bellamy Road.
Speaker 7 (04:07):
Oh funny, And then.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
They yelled at me for not letting them breed to them.
Speaker 8 (04:10):
Oh it's funny.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
They're done. They retired, like yeah, knock, get all the
matter with you?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Yeah, did you ask bellym rude?
Speaker 5 (04:16):
He had a lot of opportunities. Bellowman Road was there
for yeah decade, Well he did. It's a lot of
these words. They did it long enough, fun by appointment, only.
Speaker 9 (04:29):
It wasn't exactly the passion of the moment.
Speaker 7 (04:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
So anyway, Prairie's up to eighteen I think plus one.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
That was.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Bread on air Dree and one huh, I.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Think Brett Bread Deadwin Bred Jones.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, and we were putting it together. We just thought that,
but that no, we got a little note that they're.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
Counting one for Bretton one hundred and twenty for Brie
or something, you know.
Speaker 7 (04:58):
I mean, it's a fabulous year, really good.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
The way Bret's going, he's gonna be catching up pretty soon.
Speaker 9 (05:03):
A boy, oh boy, yeah right over there. Yeah, they
gave us the crack.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
And oh yeah.
Speaker 7 (05:09):
Well when you very first started out, Oh.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
Yeah, if you want to tell that, Raarry was the best.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (05:16):
So there were two people I called right away. Ursul
was the third.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Oh he knew I didn't have any money last time.
Speaker 9 (05:28):
When I first saw Ursul, he had.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
His phone number written down a piece of paper. He's
going to give it to me, but instead he put
it in his muff and swallowed it like it was
spy material. But I went over to see Uh. I
went over to see Governor Jones and uh and I
and and doctor Byers was the other one. So I
went over to see and and Alan Kershaw. So I
guess that's three. But Barry was great. He he was
(05:55):
went into his office and I say, Governor Jones, my
name is Michael Blowing and I I just retired from
working for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and I'm coming down
to I want to do a I want to do
a retirement home where people can come. We want to
do what the horse park does with these great horses,
only do it on a larger scale and have it
(06:16):
only for thoroughbreds. And I explained a little bit more
as we went along, and he says he's looking at me.
He's trying not to look at me skeptically, but he
couldn't help himself.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
And he says he was honest for a politics.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
Very very honest for anybody, very honor and he kind
of at the end of it, he goes, after I
explained it, he goes, Okay, let me get this strike.
You're need to get these horses, right, Yeah, you're going
to bring some of them home Japan, right yeah. And
you're not going to breed them.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
No.
Speaker 9 (06:51):
And you're not going to raise them no. And you're
not going to sell them no.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
And he looked at me and he goes, well, what
exactly are you going to do? I'm going to put
him in my yard and hope people come visit and
looked at me. Yeah, I might as I would have been,
And he would have been more less surprised if a
Martian showed up, right, And then he reached into his
lap door, and he took out a tattered check book
(07:17):
and he wrote old friends that checked for five thousand
dollars and handed it to me and said good luck.
And it was if to say goodbye.
Speaker 9 (07:27):
He's awake over there, he is awake.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Yeah, yeah, that was wonderfy. But that's not the case.
He came and saw the horses we retired, you know,
afternoon the lights stood over there. Yeah, and you and
I was over there. So we ended up retiring some
really nice ords, and Brett retired mccrack and so, yeah.
Speaker 7 (07:49):
They're wonderful people, wonderful book.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
And I can understand, you know, in retrospect, I really
understand the skepticism, like who is this moron?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Right?
Speaker 5 (07:59):
And I can understand it. But it's taking a long time,
but it's worked out really well.
Speaker 9 (08:04):
Now.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
You know, John's doing a great job going forward. I mean,
some unbelievable stuff he's done already.
Speaker 7 (08:09):
Yeah. He's a good guy.
Speaker 9 (08:10):
Yeah, it's a really good guy.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
Yeah. I just think it's funny.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Can I tell that story about Burry's first horse?
Speaker 4 (08:17):
No, go, please, I want to hear.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I love Jones. Anyway, he told us this that when
Jackie was going to law school at age forty nine. Anyway,
and we were riding over there, see condering me in
coming to talking to the other law students.
Speaker 9 (08:36):
Oh great, yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
So we were riding over there in my truck and
he told me the story and I have to add
this in too. And when he got there, he said, well,
I wouldn't be here. It's if Jackie ellis bird dog
in me all the time.
Speaker 9 (08:51):
Artist.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
But anyway, he talks about this horse. Uh that was
that was a loose one here it comes.
Speaker 9 (08:59):
Oh yeah, yeah, uh.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Loose horse out there. Uh we were driving, we were
driving the UK wherever he's going to give that talk.
And he got to talking about his first horse of
his and he was still I guess probably still in
college or something like that. But and lived was living
still in West Virginia, and uh, this fellow down there
(09:23):
had this Philly and asked Barry if he would split
expenses on him, you know, so he wants to run her.
And he said all right. So Barry said that he
was trained around around feel the corn out there, galloping
and everything, you know, finally got him ready to run
at Bailey Park. Took him up to Beauley Park and
I said, I went up Aaron said, I was green
(09:45):
as the gold. I didn't know, and I figured out
how to buy a ration for him. So I bought
a ration for him, and I didn't know how to
read one, he says. So I was afraid about somebody
claiming her. I'd fallen in love with the Philly, you know. So,
he says. I walked into the racing Sirctury's office and
(10:06):
these two old fellows there sitting there, and and I said,
excuse me, He says, I'm new to this, and uh,
would you look at the past performances here and there's
Philly and and see if there was any He's somebody,
if somebody's gonna claim her, he said, all right, So
said the old man looked at it and waited and
(10:26):
looked up to me and says, I don't think so, son,
But if they do, you were lucky, son of a bitch.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
That was very great.
Speaker 7 (10:36):
Story, you know.
Speaker 9 (10:37):
I was that I happened to find myself at the chapel.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
The other day.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
I can't imagine red mild Chapel.
Speaker 10 (10:43):
Yes, and uh.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
And there was a race at Mahoning Valley, yeah, and uh,
people a lot of people don't bet my Hooning Valley.
Speaker 9 (10:53):
I liked.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
I liked the less expensive tracks, shall we say? And
I looked down in one of the eyes had a
horse there and his name was j. Bernardini. Huh, J Bernardini,
that's his name, y Jay Bernardini.
Speaker 9 (11:10):
Done just like the horse.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
So I said, Wow, Jay Bernardini, I claimed the horse
from him. Name did invigorate.
Speaker 9 (11:19):
Like thirty years ago.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
Yeah, And he knew I loved that horse. Yeah, And
he actually won a couple of races for us. He
retired after I broke him down.
Speaker 10 (11:32):
Felt terrible about that.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
He retired four thousand dollars short of making one hundred grand. Huh.
And and but Jay told me right after I claimed him,
he knew how much I liked the horse. And he
came over and he said to me, Michael, he said,
I want you to know something.
Speaker 11 (11:47):
What I said.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
He was going to say, I'm going to claim this
horse back, but he didn't. He said, I'm never going
to claim that horse back.
Speaker 9 (11:53):
He's a really, really good horse. And he said he's
got this.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
Ankle thing and if you take care of that, you know,
and he gave us all these instructions, and then Big
Gray went out of one, three.
Speaker 9 (12:03):
Or four races for us after the farm.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
He's buried in my backyard, is that right? I'll be darth.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
When you bury him back there?
Speaker 7 (12:11):
Do you do the head and the hoof? No, you
do the whole thing.
Speaker 9 (12:14):
I don't even believe that half the time. Who's going
to chop up a horse to bury him?
Speaker 6 (12:19):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 9 (12:20):
I don't know either, So.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
No, we get him all well, they all get into cropsy,
so we know why they passed away. And uh, then
we get him premated.
Speaker 7 (12:29):
Oh gotcha? Okay, yeah, that makes a lot.
Speaker 9 (12:32):
What's wrong?
Speaker 5 (12:33):
The only horse buried their whole was Precisionist because he
was the first one that.
Speaker 7 (12:38):
Died there, is that right? I don't remember.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
And he was a great horse in the Hall of Fame,
of course, and he's amazing animal and very smart and beautiful,
and he's I think he's the last that goes that
horse again. Wow, hey, guy.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
They catch it. He wanted to get called in, He.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
Had enough for that.
Speaker 9 (13:01):
He wanted to have a little run around for a while.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Help me.
Speaker 10 (13:04):
Yeah, yeah, huh.
Speaker 6 (13:09):
I haven't seeing loose horse around here in years, not
up here.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Well, okay, they know he's just he's got the lead
rope to get the horses.
Speaker 9 (13:21):
He knows where he's No, it wasn't a shank.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
It was a lead rope. Was it a shank? It's
the matter with him? How do you put up with this?
I can barely put up with it every other Saturday. Hey,
I got a I got a loser of the week.
And then I want to introduce my friend Mark.
Speaker 9 (13:41):
Yeah, a loser of the week.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
Okay, my favorite, my horse is I'm really glad Fairgrounds
has started racing again.
Speaker 7 (13:53):
Oh is it whim today?
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Yeah? They might have started yesterday. I don't know.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
I couldn't go yesterday. Do a difference.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
That's in New Orleans, right, Yeah?
Speaker 5 (14:03):
Yeah, beauty started yesterday.
Speaker 9 (14:05):
Oh I think so too.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Maybe wednesday makes sense.
Speaker 9 (14:10):
So assuming that they stay on the turf, that the
weather's okay, and they're going to stay on the turf,
I have.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
No idea about the weather down there.
Speaker 9 (14:18):
And I know it's the sixth race.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
At the fair Grounds, mile of sixteenth on the grass,
optional Flamer. Fifty thousand non winners of two other than okay,
every one of these horses except for one. I guess
there's a couple more. Anyway, there's a horse here named
Hidden Class.
Speaker 12 (14:43):
Great name, huh and Hidden Classes has only won two
and his last race is terrible.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
He finished sixth by twenty three and am.
Speaker 9 (14:56):
Yeach, Now that's a loser.
Speaker 7 (14:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
So but if you go back a little wait, if
you go back a little ways, you see that his
turf racing, his turf races are better. So I think
that he's.
Speaker 9 (15:16):
What is he laughing about.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
I'm trying to give him some information here. I'm trying
to make him a rich man. He's just sittling over there.
Speaker 9 (15:24):
Shortly.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
I've tried to stifle it.
Speaker 9 (15:30):
Stifle yourself.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Remember that he is.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
Yeah, yeah, so his name is Hidden Class.
Speaker 9 (15:34):
He's the number five.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
Joe Sharp trains him, and Joe Sharp likes to do
well down at Fairgrounds. He likes New Orleans and he
usually does well down there.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
He spend the winter in down there.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
I haven't heard about Joe Sharp lately, and that's interesting.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
He wins.
Speaker 5 (15:49):
He wins a lot of races all over the place,
and then on and then on. Exciting news this week
is on Wednesday, Bob baffersk a horse going to Churchill.
Speaker 9 (16:01):
He's breaking the.
Speaker 7 (16:03):
I saw where he shipped in. I saw that.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
The horse is named Barnes and he's named him after
Jimmy Barnes, his top assistant all these years.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Oh that's fun.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
I think they they purchased him Amy Zaydon, who's one
of Bob's good owners. He owned Medina Spirit owns them,
and I think they paid like three point two million.
Speaker 9 (16:27):
His name is Barnes.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
He's in on Wednesday, day before Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Oh good, we'll have to pay attention.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
And I think I think Bob's gonna come in and.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Be there good.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Yeah, yeah, he'll be good. But you're going to freeze
his tail off.
Speaker 7 (16:44):
That's not good.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
If Wednesday is supposed to be terrible, Well, what are
you gonna do?
Speaker 7 (16:49):
What are you gonna do?
Speaker 6 (16:50):
You can't can't do anything about it?
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Okay, anybody? I want to introduce my friend Mark. So
this Mark otto. Mark has been supporting old friends every
practically every since as we started from one. You know,
he's gotten things, donating things to us and helped us
with get our fence up and do all kinds of things.
But he's got a really cool show. I was actually
on a show. Oh my gosh, he's got his own
(17:14):
podcast now.
Speaker 7 (17:15):
Oh is that? See?
Speaker 6 (17:16):
I don't even know how that works.
Speaker 9 (17:18):
Well, he'll explain it to you.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Okay, so this is my friend Mark Arto, who can
tell you all about that. Here's your don't forget your
loser of the week, loser of the wet. You know
what happiness is? You know what I discovered last night?
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Well, this is grace.
Speaker 9 (17:32):
I was going through the deep recesses.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Of my wallet looking for spirit and I found a
credit voucher for one hundred and twenty two dollars.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Get for where found are a credit voucher for where?
Speaker 9 (17:45):
From the red mile?
Speaker 1 (17:46):
What do you think they didn't give you money?
Speaker 5 (17:49):
Well, you can, But usually I keep like, if it's
on the weekend and I'm doing well and I got
a voucher at the end, I'll put it in my
wallet so I can use it the next day.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
He usually osam, Yeah, what how does he know that?
Speaker 5 (18:04):
How does he know that?
Speaker 7 (18:05):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (18:06):
We all support racing in our own way.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
The only guy I know the pics losers. Yes, sir,
well I've got a I've done a lot of that Myself's.
Speaker 7 (18:17):
Not on purpose.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
I had the fair grounds too. I spent a winter
in the fair Grounds.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Fabulous down there. I love that place.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
I liked it too. Yeah, I was down there with
Jack Hodgens. Winter of nineteen fifty five nineteen fifty six,
wow man.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
Winter or winter of nineteen fifty five nineteen fifty six winter. Okay,
be careful.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
He was a tough old man. I was with Jack Hodgins.
He was a tough old man to work for.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Yeah, he was all right, how are you good?
Speaker 7 (18:49):
Good?
Speaker 10 (18:49):
Thank you for having me.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
You're welcome.
Speaker 13 (18:51):
Now what is it you've got to be here?
Speaker 1 (18:53):
You're you self fencing minary.
Speaker 10 (18:56):
Yeah, I've originally was with another friends company for years
and years. A lot of people knew me from that.
I'm Marcatto and I've recently gone to Origin Point Brands.
We make all of Wolven wire horse fence, you know,
Wanta Garden. But we're back in the industry, back here
to support everybody.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
So I'll be.
Speaker 10 (19:15):
Banging around the farms again like I always have been.
And then yeah, the you know, we make a really
good product for based in Summerville, South Carolina, so you know,
based right here in the states.
Speaker 11 (19:26):
Yeah, and where.
Speaker 10 (19:30):
I am bouncing between Michigan and Florida, so I kind
of go kind of follow the industry. So as you know,
this time of year, everything kind of gravitates south. Our
industry kind of migrates like Greek geese, So we end
up either Okalla or you know, golf Stream for this.
Speaker 9 (19:45):
Side of the country.
Speaker 10 (19:45):
Oh yeah, I spent a lot of time in South
Florida in the winter and then kind of follow it
back north to Kentucky, New York in the summer.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
So and when you're at golf Stream, do you like
golf Stream better?
Speaker 10 (19:58):
I love golf Stream. I'm one of the weird people
that actually loves it. I think I think it's a
neat all politics aside. I think it's a really cool format. Yeah,
you've got restaurants, a casino, the racing, you know, if
you want to take your family there. And I don't
get me wrong, I'm not sponsored by a golf Stream.
I'm just giving you my opinion. That's a funny place
(20:21):
to go. And it's a beautiful track.
Speaker 7 (20:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (20:23):
I mean it's one of those tracks where you're sitting
there staring at water, palm trees in the ocean. It's
pretty hard to have a bad day.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Yeah. Yeah, I've driven by.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
It will be terrible traffic, but the rest of it
looks great.
Speaker 10 (20:37):
The traffic. But you know, it's kind of one of
those things too where when you get used to it,
and I understand why people like going there. There's always
a way to get around, so like if traffic backs
up on one side, you can actually get into the
track from like one of three ways.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Oh no kidding, see il shit the whatever the A
one A or one or.
Speaker 10 (20:58):
Whatever off the federally get off the side by the
barn and going way down at the end by the shops.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
And do they always have a pretty good crowd generally.
Speaker 10 (21:07):
Yeah, like this week it'll be really busy. I'm going
to be there this coming weekend and it'll they.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Fill up all right, because it's of course the holidays.
Speaker 10 (21:18):
Churchill does as well. You know, I've gone to Churchill
many years at Thanksgiving and it's a great day to
go to the races. I tell everybody if you ever,
if you don't have something to do, or if you're
looking for a place take your family, take them to
the race on a holiday. It's a great place to be.
Usually they do very good food, they have a big crowd,
and generally the trainers bring something special.
Speaker 9 (21:40):
Yeah, so it's a pretty.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Good day, doesn't Keenland do something like turkey or something still.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
The turkey for Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
No, no, I don't know either. No they don't. Okay,
I just wondered.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Yeah, so great.
Speaker 10 (22:00):
So now the other thing I'm doing is I started
a show. It was actually BBS Radio. We're allowed to
plug down. They approached me about doing a show and
I said, I'll do a show if it's about absolutely nothing,
And that's what it is. It's Hollywood and Horsepower and
we are on all Apple and Google platforms for podcasts.
(22:22):
We're on Westwood One New York and then BBS and
it's basically a show about the story behind the story.
So we have everything from people from horse racing, people
from car racing. We had Carry Earnhart on the show,
Who's Dale Earnhardt's son, has Sandra Baker's coming on the
show in a couple of weeks from Hollywood, had Michael
(22:42):
Blowing from Hollywood. So we've had everybody you know in
the industry. And what we like to talk about is
what people don't know, you know, the story in the story.
So we're hoping we can get Artha to come on
the show and tell us some of the stories about
horse race seeing in the past, because there's nobody that's
a better storyteller than hers.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
Oh yeah, oh maybe Michael today is.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
A photo finish, today is an exterminator. Pardon today, you're
doing exterminators?
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Yeah, I was. I was reading book and right across
his oh bit, And then I got Joe Palmer wrote
an article about him.
Speaker 7 (23:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Uh, And I thought, I'll just put those two together
and we'll do a little something on it.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
Yeah, very fun the I know that.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I've been told the Irish really like that because they
don't have a background in American racing like weed, so
they like that kind of stuff.
Speaker 10 (23:46):
I love Ursul stories. I listened to them all the time.
And I love the CD too that goes you know,
goes back.
Speaker 11 (23:53):
You know.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Those were Joe Palmer.
Speaker 10 (23:54):
I love that.
Speaker 9 (23:55):
Those are great stories.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Yeah, came right out of this book, you know. Yeah,
It's been used.
Speaker 9 (24:03):
A couple of times. Those are the best books.
Speaker 10 (24:05):
I've got a lot of books like that.
Speaker 9 (24:08):
Yeah, that's it, you know, a funny story.
Speaker 10 (24:11):
And everybody knows this. I didn't come from horse racing.
I was raised on a beef farm. I was in marketing.
Speaker 9 (24:16):
What kind of beef, beef and crop we.
Speaker 10 (24:20):
Had quarter horses around, but never you know, like throw us.
And so when I first came here, I was fortunate
enough that people were very kind. People like Bob mac
out at Woodford Feed kind of took me under his wing.
He really, you know, everybody can blame him for me
wandering around. He was the guy that would point me everywhere.
(24:41):
And he was actually the guy that pointed me towards
Michael and said you need to go out, and I
just drove in the driveway and introduced myself and that's
how we met. And but it was interesting. I would
go to like the antique shops, the tag shops and
buy the old books and sit around at night and
read them Thoroughbred Times, the reviews, all those things from
(25:04):
way back in fifties, forties, anything I get my hands on.
And you know those.
Speaker 9 (25:08):
Books you can buy him for twenty five cents, nobody wondered.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, but it was a library. Yeah, And I.
Speaker 10 (25:14):
Learned so much, you know about that was kind of
where I started kind of putting the pieces together. And
I mean, most everybody's forgot more than I know, but
that was where I learned what little I did now.
But it was interesting because books like these that you
have here, I've got a lot of them. Yeah, and
it was it was amazing. It was fun to go
back and look, it's too bad they don't make those
(25:35):
kind of books anymore.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Well, nobody writes like that will publish.
Speaker 7 (25:39):
Nobody writes like that and not that good.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
I mean that.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
I don't think anybody's ever come anywhere near him.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
I'm reading Red Smith's book. I picked it up to
read it again. And he has no coach to being
as good as pob He had a great.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
Reputational writer, storyteller good.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
But that's yeah, that guy was Palmer.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
Was a gift.
Speaker 10 (26:06):
But yeah, yeah, I really enjoy listening to your stories.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
John Tanner Foot fifty years before or forty years.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Oh yeah, he was writing about in the about nineteen
ten twelve.
Speaker 7 (26:20):
And that kind of stuff.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
Have you ever read him?
Speaker 9 (26:23):
I haven't looked that upatinated.
Speaker 10 (26:27):
Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Yeah. And they made the movie Kentucky.
Speaker 10 (26:30):
Oh yes, from a book his book.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
And Michael, what movie did he write the script for?
Was it Notorious or something like that?
Speaker 9 (26:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (26:41):
It was one of the hitchcock one of the.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Hitchcock on Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Yeah, yeah, look came up and I'll have to Yeah.
Speaker 9 (26:49):
Yeah, well that we lot those old books.
Speaker 10 (26:51):
And I love the connection between that and Hollywood too.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Yeah, we've got an old Saturday Evening Post of all things.
Speaker 7 (26:59):
That it was your mother.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
There's Ursul's mother and it's in an old secretary that
she and it's still stuck with her stuff because I
don't want to touch it, you know. I mean it's
it's been there forever and the Look of Eagles is
in that.
Speaker 9 (27:15):
Yeah, that's where it was first.
Speaker 7 (27:18):
Yeah, it's pretty.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Well, you've got we've got the book.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Oh yeah, I got.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
It when I was My mother used to give me
books at Christmas. The Look of Eagles Prince is the
name of the book.
Speaker 6 (27:32):
A good collection.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Where are you going when you leave here?
Speaker 10 (27:37):
I'm going to Louisville this afternoon, Churchill, Yeah, and then
back to Michigan briefly to see my kids, and then
Miami Golf stream Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Okay, Well stop by again when you're in town.
Speaker 10 (27:51):
I definitely will. We definitely have to get get Ursula
on the show.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
So well, that's why I do that.
Speaker 10 (27:57):
Tell some stories and here here's some of the stuff.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
We don't know.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
We want to do it by phone or something.
Speaker 10 (28:01):
Yeah, that'll probably the best. If you, I mean, if
if you, if it's harder to do that, I'll come
down and sit down with you.
Speaker 9 (28:07):
Whatever works.
Speaker 7 (28:08):
Did did just get Ursul's book?
Speaker 10 (28:11):
Yes, oh good, I've got.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Some good stuff there too. COVID kind of got that.
Uh yeah, it came right with COVID.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
So anyway, we'll stop that.
Speaker 10 (28:22):
Thank you guys for having me.
Speaker 6 (28:23):
Yeah, anytime. Stop.
Speaker 10 (28:25):
We enjoyed the show a lot.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Thank you.
Speaker 10 (28:27):
We'll be seeing me again, and we'll be you'll.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Give me origin. I could give you my phone number.
Speaker 9 (28:33):
Yep.
Speaker 10 (28:33):
We'll get that before the end, and I'll stick around
till the end.
Speaker 9 (28:36):
We'll get it.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Come all right, all right, I'll do it. Back to
Michael well claven Farmers. War Wheel has been steady of
climbing the list of leading freshman sires fourteen of one,
and they're winning at major tracks the winning and Keenan,
and they winning at Saratoga and Woodbine, Kentucky Downs, colonew Downs.
Elis Barb three of already earned black Type two at
ghost Stream a third at Kentucky Downs. War Wheel displayed
(28:58):
the ability to win on dirt grass and his progeny
is doing the same. Will of Will won the Great
Classic Grade one Freakness and the Grade one makers Mark
Mile on grass and on his way to accumulating earnings
of over a million, eight hundred and eighty one thousand.
The ability needed to win at the highest level on
both services is typical of the progenitenty of his sire,
(29:20):
the international successful Warfront, sire of going on one hundred
and twenty stakes winners and son of the sensational Sara Danzik,
who sired one hundred and ninety eight stakes winners while
standing at Claybourn. The Damn of war Will is one
of two hundred and ninety four stakes winners sired by
noted soth saddle as wells. In addition to classic winn
of war Will, she has produced a champion two year
(29:42):
old in Ireland and she's a half sister to a
champion fantastic pedigree. Watch for more runners of war Will,
and he has seven two year olds that sold for
one hundred thousand dollars or more that breeze up sales.
His fee for twenty twenty five I was twenty thousand.
Stands of nurses give Bernie Sam's or Jacob West to
(30:04):
call them eighty five, nine, nine, eight, seven, two three
three oh, and the website is cleveand farm to dot com.
I want to talk a little bit about my friend
Shack Perrish, who was doing very well. I had had
a few health problems there for a while, but he's
hitting on all eight no, and I was talking to
(30:25):
him yesterday. And Shack, of course runs Indian Creek Farm,
which is closely affiliated with the insurance company. Clay ward
Agency was founding founded back in nineteen thirty one. That
was a vintage year. Happened to be my birth year.
You fir eighteen eighteen?
Speaker 9 (30:44):
What I missed that part?
Speaker 2 (30:48):
That just makes me ninety three? There you go, anyway,
brod Jalis So only the only thing about being old
I had if I if I don't forget it, i'd
drop it. These days, one of the two is going
to happen nine times out of anyway. Well, anyway, The
(31:10):
clay Ordinating Seemed was founded in nineteen thirty one by
mister James clay Warden. I had occasionally meet him many
many moons ago. Yeah, I guess he was buying horse
insurance from my dad when he was managing Dixianam and
but very successful even though he started right, you know,
right through the depression. But if it pertains to the
(31:32):
third and the professionals over to clay ordators here, or
they've been supplying the best coverage at the best price
available and been doing it for years, they need to
call a Shack or Bruce Isaacs. Let me get in
the phone numbers in eighty five nine number nine, eighty seven,
eighteen sixty one. Officers are living on two Main Street
(31:52):
and Parish main Street's are one way street in parish,
you know, so watch for the funeral homeowner right, and
a couple of doors down you find you. You find
Shack in the parish pap and hopefully in good shape.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
They don't need that, hopefully not a few blocks.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
But but you know, you get older, you think about
those things, don't Yeah, no kidding, Well anyway, Indian Creek
a raising boarded and so many of the world's finest servers,
and so the best place to get in touch with
them is go to the website. And if you believe me,
if you if you're selling horses at auction, let me
remind you that Indian Creek sold top price earling five
(32:33):
million dollar yearling now at the September sales this year
out of Keenan and.
Speaker 7 (32:37):
Earth so broad and bought his lunch.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
So I wasn't under bitter, huh. I was definitely an
under bitterer.
Speaker 9 (32:45):
I love that flight.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Way under little Oh yeah, it's great.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Okay, Well, anyway, the website is Indian creekky dot com
for Indian Creek is they do a great Hell if
you on a board two horses that have themselves for you,
they do a fantastic job. I've got great horsemen over there.
So that's two goodnesses to remember if you're and a horseman.
There's a Clay World Agency and Indian Creek.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and Ursa Ellis.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
No, I wanted to mention, well, Michael's still here Silver
Charm ten years at Old France December the first Yeah,
I'm trying to figure out how with.
Speaker 5 (33:39):
Michael when I was at fourteen and he's still got
a wonderful disposition.
Speaker 9 (33:42):
With Diana, they both have wonderful dispositions to put up
with me, Silver Charm and Diane.
Speaker 6 (33:48):
You're putting them in the same category.
Speaker 7 (33:50):
Pay attention.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
Diane has moved up in class out. Chip will say theatre,
they go and go Silver Charms my favorite living she
it's the truth. I tell the truth on my tours. Yeah,
I tell the kids when they come, I'll let your
parents tell you.
Speaker 9 (34:08):
They like you both the same.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
That's totally not true.
Speaker 9 (34:11):
It's totally not true. All the parents say the same thing.
Speaker 5 (34:14):
And then they say it and people say, what's the best.
Speaker 9 (34:16):
Day of your life? Oh, well, dad got married?
Speaker 5 (34:19):
Okay, I'm good. Then they say all the day my
son or daughter was born, yeah, or the day my grandual.
Everybody says the same thing. No, they're all fill out
the super yeah, silver Charms at the top of the list.
And on December first, twenty twenty four, marks the tenth
(34:42):
anniversary of his arrival at old Friends. The single greatest
day of my life.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
All right, we know got that.
Speaker 8 (34:49):
I put that on his.
Speaker 6 (34:50):
Tombstone and he knows it. Let me ask him they
like today? Has he got a blanket?
Speaker 13 (34:57):
No?
Speaker 5 (34:58):
No, Doctor Byers hated blankets.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
Yeah, unless well, let's say that's somewhere to get well.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
It retards their their heating system that runs down their back,
and they sit that blanket on there, it's washing it down.
The air doesn't get in there.
Speaker 9 (35:10):
Warm mup.
Speaker 6 (35:11):
Naturally they've got some kind of Yeah, and.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
So we have a couple of them where the heating
system is already broken.
Speaker 9 (35:19):
So that's who gets the blank.
Speaker 6 (35:20):
And yeah, I think I think the very bad thing.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
Is a freezing rain on them.
Speaker 9 (35:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
I think Marissa put a blanket on they know the
people cut.
Speaker 7 (35:30):
Yeah, we does.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
Freezing rain a couple of times. And when they're thirty
going to be.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
Thirty one, that's well, Carolan we have he's thirty two
and he he has his blanket.
Speaker 7 (35:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
And Bolden Boss he has a has a has a
has a has a light blanket because of her scars
from er burned when she got burned in that fire.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
That was hard.
Speaker 9 (35:54):
So she's got one and a few others.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
Yeah, it around.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
Well you know who needs someone who doesn't?
Speaker 5 (35:59):
So I needn't anybody worry about me putting age in
a blanket or no, no, no, no, no, don't now.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
John said they're going to put up a shed. Yeah,
pretty quick for the old guys, because that the one
Paddick didn't have one.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
We're gonna wait, Billy Bill Billy, he'll be over there
doing it in a week or show.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yeah, Well, this thing is Sunday, December first, from noon
till two, free admission.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
That's really nice.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
To try and get Sandy Hatfield to come over, because
Sandy was with him all the years that he was
at Three Chimneys and.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
She's still at three Chimneys and she retire.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
Oh good, she's still there.
Speaker 10 (36:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (36:40):
Yeah, she's great. Yeah, she has known her forever and.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
She loves him. I mean silver drying. You can lead
him her all a dental floss. I mean he's just
like so cool.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Yeah, that's wonderful.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Yeah, he goes in at night, he goes.
Speaker 7 (36:52):
That's what I was gonna say.
Speaker 6 (36:53):
I thought John said that or something when when people.
Speaker 9 (36:57):
Came come to work for OPENS.
Speaker 5 (36:59):
I always used to tell, look, you people, I hire
you people because you know what you're doing and I don't.
Speaker 9 (37:06):
That's what we're paying you.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
Yes, so but there's one thing I'm going to tell
you that's really true.
Speaker 9 (37:12):
And I said, these horses have been told what to
do their entire lives.
Speaker 5 (37:15):
Yea, all the time. Go here, go there, get in
the truck, getting the trailer, go on a plane, do
a workout, back in the stall, go race, come back
in the stall. So now our job is to figure
out what they want and when they want it, and
let them know if they're in charge, and their whole
(37:35):
disposition changed. I mean they think it's kind of a jackie.
Speaker 9 (37:43):
Who will kim up today?
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Oh my god?
Speaker 5 (37:48):
Yeah. So Silver Charm did not like the traffic at night.
He didn't like the car lights, and he doesn't like
to get petted on his head. Other than that, you're fine.
And so we bring him in at night and we
don't put him on his head.
Speaker 6 (38:03):
That's good. Now is he going to be thirty one?
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Yeah, that's say, hey, thirty one. And I think that
other horse that got turned out with them might be
thirty two. Yeah, I forgot its name. Anyway, there you.
Speaker 5 (38:22):
Are he yeah, they're you know, it's amazing. And he's
right next door to Touch Gold. Now Touch Gold of
course beat him in the Belmont, out of the Triple
Crown and others, and they look over the fence.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
And who would have ever thought when you started out
doing that, you'd have Touch Gold.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
I know, the.
Speaker 5 (38:43):
Charm and them in and all have another and Big
Brown and all their stories. Every time I'm listening to FanDuel,
I guess it is now there's always something connected to
one of our horses, like we've we've got warriors reward
at the farm now and and the last week or
the week before, his offspring won the double at one
(39:05):
track reward ors.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
O fun anyway, Well, I sell something on TV, I
mean on my phone. I'll have another busting it around
at Patty so good.
Speaker 5 (39:20):
He just flying And when Lava Man was one of
Doug O'Neill's track ponies that he brought actually brought, I'll
have another to the starting gate for the derby. Yeah,
and I got to somebody sent me a fabulous picture
of I'll have another acting up and a lot of
men reaching over and giving him a little nip on
the neck, you know, behaviorself. And now they're now they
(39:43):
now they're across. They're across there, right across from each other. Yeah, yeah,
he likes it when you do that. I'm gonna fight
on the neck occasionally.
Speaker 9 (39:53):
He got to behave himself.
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Anyway, I'm gonna go, but I I have it's great
teen you. John's doing such a great job on all
counts and working really really hard, and that's great. He'll
have some announcements coming up soon.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
They'll be really.
Speaker 9 (40:08):
Okay, cool, really great, all right.
Speaker 5 (40:11):
All right, see you.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
In a couple of weeks where you're going.
Speaker 10 (40:15):
Huh oh, that's right.
Speaker 5 (40:17):
I'm gonna make so much money at the chapel. I'm
just gonna move into the Red Mile sleep on the floor.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Oh, I'll bet you. I'll bet your dying thrilled with that.
Speaker 9 (40:26):
Thrilled. Yeah, well, she shrilled to get me out of
the house.
Speaker 5 (40:30):
Yeah, you know, but this is good. It's a pleasure
seeing you.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
Well, thank you for coming. And I had better. Yeah,
take care of some of our sponsors here, Yes, sir,
we'll see you.
Speaker 10 (40:46):
He's not going to earn any much.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
I try to bring Betsy out that thing on December first.
Speaker 9 (40:51):
Yeah, people, you should come.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
It's gonna be I would have the driver up though
in the car.
Speaker 6 (40:55):
Okay, okay, well you get on her.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
I'll have another okay.
Speaker 5 (41:03):
Oh, I gotta tell one more quick story. This is
a guy named Steve Wells.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Ok.
Speaker 5 (41:08):
He won the one of the contests, big contests, I
forget how many hundreds of thousands of dollars in handicapping
contest and.
Speaker 9 (41:17):
He runs and he lives in Fordville, North.
Speaker 5 (41:20):
Dakotah, population three hundred and fifty. Yeah, three fifty and
he owns a bar. It's called his name Steve Wells.
It's called Wells Drinking Well, oh funny, all right, and
he serves tacos and beer and stuff. And he was
on the he was so he was talking about he
was talking about the handicapping and everything. He likes the
(41:42):
bar because you know, there's not that many people in
there and he can handicap do all stuff. And he
sounded like a really neat guy. So we had an
extra paddock sign.
Speaker 9 (41:51):
For I'll have another.
Speaker 8 (41:52):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
So I thought, well, this is good for his bar,
so I just sent it to him. We'll see what happens.
Speaker 9 (41:58):
We'll keep people posted on.
Speaker 5 (42:00):
Oh that's fun.
Speaker 4 (42:01):
What a good idea?
Speaker 1 (42:02):
Good idea, Michael, Is that your idea?
Speaker 2 (42:05):
Well?
Speaker 5 (42:05):
Yes, well, well every once in a while, everybody.
Speaker 7 (42:12):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 5 (42:14):
Chris's getting a little nervous. We've been kept he's been
kept in the starting gate too long.
Speaker 9 (42:19):
He's starting to act up.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (42:21):
Absolutely, we're four behind. That's okay.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
We'll shoot a true two year old Phillip by Moneys
whipped Colts in one hundred and found other notebook stakes
at Aquaduct last Saturday, shooting trus Design nighted and designated
a Rising Star after she won a maiden specially keenan

the top twenty leading sires of the twenty twenty four

North America can match that stud. Fees at ash Ford
stud begin at five thousand dollars live full. And among
the latter group our Echo Town, who has already signed
two to two year old stakes winners as at first
cop this year and Motown the Great run winning son
of Uncle Olda decided thirteen stakes winners sixth graded two
of them at Kinlan from More on the stands at

All right, they's so good daily news. Rent a little
news item there other day. It was interested me. Uh,
the Alabama h b p A hopes, uh, the purchase
of Birmingham Track signals an industry return of racing down there.
Speaker 7 (45:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
So outfit that's buyingmum uh is a gaming. It's a
subsidiary of the poor band of Creek Indians. And it's uh,
it's what it's a subsidiary of that.
Speaker 6 (46:07):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
The the the people that are.
Speaker 4 (46:10):
Trying to buy it all the Indians.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
Yeah, the Indians. Yeah, going on the war path in
Alabama anyway.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
There the Creek Indians.
Speaker 8 (46:19):
I don't know, Jack, I think that's what you read,
but go.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
Ahead, Uh yeah Creek Yeah, okay, isn't that interesting? Yeah,
but you know they used to have racing and Birmingham.
How long ago was that.
Speaker 6 (46:35):
Herb Jones was twenty years I guess.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
Yeah. And Herb Jones, a freight gran friend of mine,
had trained all his life. And he took a band
of you know, band horses, took a stable of horses
down there after that meeting, and he left before the
meeting was over. He said that those were the most
inconfident people ever been around. He said they didn't know
(46:59):
how anybody down there that knew how to work with
you know, to sell mutual tickets even you know, and
he says, I read I rant a couple of horses there,
and I saw right away that this wasn't gonna fly.
So I left. He packed his horses up and lived
and sure enough it closed about two weeks later.
Speaker 6 (47:21):
Well, I bet those Indians have got it checked out
because they do a lot of gambling stuff.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 7 (47:30):
Yeah, they were not what to do.
Speaker 2 (47:32):
Yeah. Anyway, Herb gave me a money clip, uh before
he passed away, and uh it said something about uh
Birmingham Club, you know, like, yeah, I gave it to Randy,
friend of mine and Herb's son, and he passed away also.
Speaker 7 (47:56):
Yeah, terrible, terrible, And I got rid of it.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
I was next. Yeah, but anyway, that's it's been twenty
five years ago. With the head racing down there.
Speaker 7 (48:12):
Is that right now?
Speaker 1 (48:13):
When are they expected to open?
Speaker 8 (48:14):
Does it have any.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
Well, they're not sure they're going to get it yet.
Oh God, yes, good luck to them. Well let me
catch up here. The nation's leading sire in the missive
stands over a Spendthrift and the minschief is also the
nation's leading sire two year olds. The nation's leading shire
two year old winners is Wacoma, who stands at Spendthrift Farm.
For Wacoma has thirty five winners in his first cop.
(48:38):
The nation's leading second crop sire, Omaha Beach, stands at
spend Thrift Farm. Here is sided. The winners are nearly
seven million dollars in his first two cops. Ten have
won stakes this year. Among them they undefeated with the
Angels Winter Last Sunday. Of the one hundred thousand dollars
a key Scent stakes at Aqueduct, Omaha Beach is the
only second cop sar with a Grade one win in
(49:00):
twenty twenty four. Your Spendcrift stallions are dominating the silius.
That's said look to the Stallion rogers for future leading
cyrus and you will find the likes of Forte and
Cornick and Jasickie's Warrior Arabian line Tayba Yopahn, all with
superb credentials to become leading cyrus. Sons have in the

mischief include horses there Kentucky Derby Winter Authentic, who's climbing
the freshman sylist. It's got nineteen two year old winners
among them Mistakes winner and three others during black Type
in his first crop, and of course Golden Sands, a
three time Grade one winner that has sired seventeen black
Eye horses this year, including Kentucky Derby winner mister Dan.
(49:42):
He stands there at spend three Farmer. It's a great
stay in roster fee. You start a five thousand life hold.
People to call over at spend three Farm. The breed

(50:02):
to say something about one of our best friends is
Hill Parker, And it's.
Speaker 1 (50:06):
All right, I gotta say something. Listen, he just he's
a realtor and a horseman.
Speaker 7 (50:16):
But he sold a.
Speaker 1 (50:17):
Real nice farm last week. Yeah, it was up on
the internet and it was pretty real nice place. So
before the bad weather hit, I guess around here, Yeah,
somewhere in central Kentucky.
Speaker 8 (50:32):
I don't remember.
Speaker 7 (50:33):
But you know, another good one sold by Hill.
Speaker 8 (50:36):
He knows what he's doing.
Speaker 2 (50:37):
He's a job done.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
Yeah. Well that's his you know personality. He's very outgoing,
he talks, he gets The thing of it is is
he gets stuff done. If there's a question about zoning
or this or that, or restrictions on land, he's on it.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
I mean he knows it from front to back and
that's part of being a really good realtor. At the
same time, and for people that don't know, he's a
licensed horse trainer in eleven states, so he has trained
and ridden thoroughbreds.
Speaker 7 (51:14):
He's been out here.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
He's in fact, he owns a little bit of land
back behind his place so he can train, you know,
on these tracks and stuff.
Speaker 7 (51:23):
He's terrific, he really is.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
And what you don't understand maybe is when you buy
a farm it's got something to do with horses, you
really better know what you're doing. You better have a
lot of background because otherwise you won't have a clue
about barns. And so he knows the particulars to ask.
Speaker 8 (51:46):
Are you going to breed?
Speaker 7 (51:47):
That's a certain type of setup.
Speaker 6 (51:49):
Are you going to train?
Speaker 1 (51:50):
That's another kind of set up. Are you going to
set you know, doing for sales? Are you going to
prep yearlings? That determines what kind of place you're gonna
put together. So anytime you're interested in what you know,
he really knows his stuff.
Speaker 7 (52:07):
That's what I'm trying to say.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
It's called Lexhorsefarms dot com and it's.
Speaker 6 (52:15):
Got beautiful it's a beautiful website.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
Yes, great website is lexorswams dot com. As Jackie just
told you. And uh, it was a Hill's sale number
and it's eighty five nine number six zero eight eight
zero three nine Hill and Reagan Parker to the nicest
people you live want to meet, So give him a
call and get the job done for you.
Speaker 3 (52:41):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and Ursa ellis.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
Oh right here. Well, they're running a couple of stakes
today at Churchill, a couple of grated stakes. Hopefully see
James Cully who'll come back.
Speaker 4 (52:58):
Oh yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
We didn't ask him if he was coming this week.
But sometimes he does and sometimes he didn't. Usually, yeah,
usually he's in contact with us. But uh, hopefully he'll
show today because nobody knows more about racing than James.
Speaker 7 (53:15):
I know.
Speaker 6 (53:16):
And it's all up there, up to date, you know,
I know.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
It's all up there in its head. Pardon and I
said that all that is in his head, it comes
pouring out. Yeah, he didn't even use notes for crying out.
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
Well anyway, they run in the Chulouki Steaks and I
believe she was folded back in the late nineties, so
she was, but she they're none named the stakes race
up but it's a greade three race for three Rold's
on up Phillis and marriage going a mile and if
I have a call, right, she was bred by doctor
(53:53):
missus uh smiles her West in partnership with uh mister
missus mac miller. Ah, I met doctor West. They used
to own a farm on the road between uh midway
and the and the sales. Yeah, I believe it belongs
(54:15):
to Ashford stood now is that right? Coom or And
there raised a lot of runners, of course, mc miller trained,
you know, train.
Speaker 7 (54:23):
Mac Millan was on the show once.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we've had him on the show.
He was he wrote a did he write a book?
Somebody wrote a book about him.
Speaker 7 (54:34):
I have no idea.
Speaker 8 (54:35):
I don't remember.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
I believe we've got it. But he trained the Kentucky
every winter. You know, started out with working with horses
at came in. He wasn't a trader or anything like that.
In fact, they advised him not to try so you'll
never make a trader.
Speaker 7 (54:55):
Love stories.
Speaker 2 (54:56):
So he came on and got in h did extremely
well as a trainer and Siluki. Uh it's a Grade
three race. She was champion two year old over a year.
As a matter of fact, yep, it's got field of
eight going in there today it's for three olds up.
(55:16):
Fellow marriage going to mile goes off at four twenty five.
Amona a more I am o n r A mora
amore is number one. Uh beigali a p A g
A L l A Number two she's by blaming. Incidentally
(55:38):
it stands over to Clabron Farm. Number three is tax
by collected and collected stands as airdri stud too sharp
as number four Royal Spa is number five. Number six
is Positano's sons that whatever that means. By golden sands
(56:04):
of course. Uh. The side of this year's Kentucky everywhere
stands over it spind through farm. Oh god, here's this one.
I don't know. I wish, I wish this would scratch
what Oh e u v r E.
Speaker 7 (56:19):
Let's see it? Can I see it?
Speaker 2 (56:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (56:21):
Tell me spell it again?
Speaker 2 (56:24):
Oh e u v R E O O.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
O.
Speaker 7 (56:31):
Pray.
Speaker 2 (56:34):
I put on my finest Southern drawl, and Ray said,
out of it and on the outside it's fancy. It
was by justified, of course justified. The triple ground went
over at Ashwood stood leading third crop sire by the way, yep,
two figures. I never thought I could tell you this,
(56:56):
but it looks like it's going to be a better sire.
And it was a racehorse and he won a triple grass.
Speaker 6 (57:02):
I know, how do you beat that?
Speaker 8 (57:03):
That's amazing.
Speaker 2 (57:04):
He's got the champion three Old horse of the year
over in England too. Yeah, the horse that they sent
over here to the winner, the English Derby winner. I
forget his name.
Speaker 6 (57:15):
City of Troy, Yeah, City of Troy, Thank you, Jackie,
You're welcome.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (57:21):
Good for something.
Speaker 2 (57:22):
Hut fill in the gaps that I've forgotten. Yeah, I've
either forgotten it or dropped it.
Speaker 6 (57:29):
You know.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
I'll tell you my gaps are getting bigger, get more gaps.
Speaker 2 (57:35):
And I'll tell you what. But that's then they run
in a Commonwealth Thurstakes Grade three, three hundred thousand for three.
Old's going to mile and sixteenth on the grass. My
boy prince by Cairo Prince, Cairo Prince of course over
at air dream. I wonder who beat him? I look
(58:00):
down here and see Murray Murray Smith. Okay, Uh tell
us copy is number two by American Pharaoh Triple Crown
went over at Ashwood Stun. We went to see him down.
He's he's he's like a pony. He's so gentle, nice nice. Yeah,
pretty too good.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
You get to go out and scratch his withers and
do all that.
Speaker 7 (58:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
Uh, Dashman is number three. Uh. Number four is XR
Ben Derby. Piper's fact factor is number five. We'll take
it as number six. Like l A g y n
o s ka Pharaoh's I can pronounces anyway, g y
(58:53):
o is my pass? You pass on that one. Ley
knows I've already slurred through it, so we'll go. Yeah,
Number eight is hershey h e R c h ef.
You think it would be hershey because by twirling candy.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
Yeah, maybe they couldn't use that word.
Speaker 2 (59:19):
Well yeah that might be Yeah, you could always spell
it a little bit.
Speaker 6 (59:26):
H R s h e E.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
And a French horse with a very pronouncible name.
Speaker 7 (59:34):
Are you sure?
Speaker 2 (59:35):
Yeah? Evaded?
Speaker 6 (59:36):
Oh there you got.
Speaker 2 (59:38):
Even by a horse name of woot and Bassett holding
hold and over in. But he's a French bread anyway.
So those are the two stakes. And I think James
just came in.
Speaker 1 (59:51):
Good and it's nine o'clock.
Speaker 7 (59:53):
Hello, Betsy, hope you're having a good morning.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
We're in a tie this morning.
Speaker 6 (59:57):
Well, see Betsy, have a good morning.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
In here with ties.
Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
Oh my god, you look at you getting married or something? Yeah,
what's that?
Speaker 6 (01:00:11):
What's on that tie?
Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
Looks like it's silk?
Speaker 9 (01:00:14):
Yeah, a paint tie.
Speaker 6 (01:00:16):
Was horse.
Speaker 13 (01:00:17):
So I'm actually my anniversary or anniversary g gu me
was Wednesday, so seven years it's actually it was a
data anniversary of first date, so it was sixteen and seven.
And we always like to say that.
Speaker 6 (01:00:30):
Look at you, ain't you pretty dang.
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Got all about it? Take my head off.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Of yeah, isn't it terrible? You'd put on something nice
and people spirit working on you.
Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Well made it's charge from thirteen links out of it
to Window Derby a performance that brought you out of
your seat. Great run you. Also, after winning his career
debut by sprinting seven furlongs of one twenty two and two,
came from far out of it in the twelve to
be second in the Grade one Florida Derby, and he
play also placed in the Grade one Preakness and Grade
(01:01:05):
one Haskell Invitational. That's four consecutive Grade one steaks and
Aaron Twomey in five hundred and seven thousand, four hundred
and fifty dollars. He's a superb individual with a great pedigree.
His sire, Good Magic was a champion two year over
his year ran second in the Kentucky Derby. Is Studfield
twenty twenty four or twelve hundred and twenty five thousand,
(01:01:26):
which that's Good Magic we're talking about now. And he's
by curl In Whero stands for two hundred and fifty
that the damn of Mage is the stakes winn of
Puoka and Puca is also the damn of Donner win
of the Grade one Belmont Stakes, the Grade one Haskell
and over two point four million. So Pucko has produced
winners of the Kentucky Derby in Belmont. So there wasn't
(01:01:48):
no caming of surprise when she was offered the public auction.
She sold for two thoy nine hundred thousand dollars. Mayin's
had a very good first year. It stood in twenty
twenty four as a nice book of ariic stands over
their stood. It was just founded by Burdensey Jones, nations
leading breeder twenty four uh nineteen twenty twenty four stakes winners.
(01:02:09):
That's good news for me. Did you stand in? The
over lation was good? They knew how to raise runners
to days were stood and they raised nineteen stakes winners
this year. So far more on the stands that editors did.
It just called Shannon Kyle at eight five nine, eight
seven three seventy two seventy and the website is a
stood dot com. Well, now that James is here, he
(01:02:31):
could tell you a little bit more about Brisnette dot com.
Speaker 13 (01:02:36):
Yeah, bersnet dot com Boletsck Research Information Services. It's your
source of handicapping information. We have handicapping reports, tip sheets,
analysis for all the North American tracks and a lot
of you know, we have pass performances. Check out our
past performances and we have those for all tracks as well,
(01:02:57):
and they're free for international tracks. Racing, we got data
files for handicapping software programs and pedigree information and much
much more. Check out britnet dot com for your handicapping information.
Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
All right, you've got everything. They're not carrying the game,
are they?
Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
No? The football game?
Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
We've been trying to listen to Kentucky's basketball games. We
can't even find them anywhere.
Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
It's terrible.
Speaker 9 (01:03:30):
Well they're on the radio, oh yeah, radio.
Speaker 13 (01:03:33):
Yeah, but they've been streaming those games. Hopefully that's streaming
is over. But you know, they played with one of
the more teams of the nation last night, so it
was nice to see them win by forty nine.
Speaker 9 (01:03:43):
I mean, yeah, yeah, this guy's got it going on.
Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
The first question is where are you going?
Speaker 13 (01:03:49):
You look, I'm going to Churchill Downs today. We got
two graded stakes there. Really I think the late like
pick six sequence there is really good. Got a non
winners of two other than allowance, and then you've got
a pair of two year old maiden races that book
in the Races seven and eleven book in the late
Pick five and both of them have like million dollar babies.
(01:04:12):
Yenzer is a million dollar son, a twirling candy that
will make his career debut for Steve Asmussen and Race
seven today, and then the two year old Philly counterpart
Race eleven. He's got this Philly Sarapia who's a gun
runner and she making her second start stretching the two turns.
(01:04:33):
She costs a million dollars and ran the third first
time out to a nice Philly who came back and
won earlier this meet. So yeah, there's there's a lot
of other like real promising runners and both the races
seven and eleven those are that's the type of those
are the type of maiden races that some of those
horses could be heard from down the road. Obviously, next Wednesday,
(01:04:54):
Churchill is going to have Barns at three point two
million dollar yearly. Yeah, was purchased for Bafford. I guess
it was two year old at training, but he was
in pool one of the Kentucky Derby Future pool and
he was unnamed at the time, and they've named him
Barnes a lot of people have just assumed they named
it for Bafford's assistant Jimmy Barnes, but I will point
(01:05:17):
out that one of its top exercise riders for years
is Dana Barnes, so he's tied into two Barneses, so
you know there's the potential he definitely named it for
Jimmy because he's his right hand man and a huge
part of that whole Bafford, Organs, barn and Runners and such.
But I wouldn't just naturally assume that they could have
(01:05:38):
named it for both people. And he's going to debut
Wednesday at Churchill. Then of course next weekend it's the
closing weekend of the Churchill meet. So on Friday on Thursday,
you got it like a trio of steaks, got a
couple of good Philly steaks, one on the dirt, one
on turms. Friday is highlighted by the Clark, which will
have some good horses in it. And basically the Derby,
(01:06:02):
Clark and Oaks were all run back in eighteen seventy four,
so they're all the staples of Churchill down so it's
the very creation the Derby, the Oaks and the Clark
used to be the Clark Candy Cat.
Speaker 9 (01:06:13):
Now it's the Clark Steaks.
Speaker 13 (01:06:14):
It's the staple of the fall. Gonna have like rock
and Roll and Hit Show and some others in there.
There's a ten horse field and then on Saturday, next Saturday,
it stars at tomorrow two program and you're gonna have
the Kentucky Jockey Club for two year old males, a
Derby qualifier a mile on the sixteenth, and the Golden
Rod for two year old Phillies at a mile on
(01:06:35):
the sixteenth. So yeah, I got some big racing come in.
Fairgrounds opened on Friday, you know, yesterday, so they got
their opening weekend. They got a bunch of Louisiana bread steaks,
and they got big fields and their turf courses in
really good shape. So everything looks good for the Fairgrounds meet.
They're gonna have some new barns. The Jose RTIs is
(01:06:56):
gonna ride. They're all meat. Linda Rice and some other
trainers are sending strings there, so it's gonna be a
good meet. It looks like at Fairgrounds this winter. Next
weekend we'll also have some del Mar steaks as well,
So you know, this is a Thanksgiving weekend. Is always
a big weekend of racing, and we got some good
(01:07:16):
races today as well. Churchill's two steaks of the Grade
three Shalouki for three year old Phillies at a one
turn mile. The Philly to beat in there is too
Sharp for Phil Bauer. This is a Philly that broke
her maiden real impressively the second time out at Saratoga
too Sharp, and then went and ran second by a
(01:07:41):
head to Brightwork, who's a Grade one winner at Saratoga.
Loves the track. That was a big head second and
too Sharp came back and just want an allowance by
five lands, so she looks like the speed in there.
Speaker 10 (01:07:53):
The one to beat.
Speaker 13 (01:07:54):
The other one is the Commonwealth Turf that's also for
three year olds at a mile and sixteenth on turf.
That race has really three main contenders, Dashman, Hershey and Evade,
and I like Hershey. Hershey broke his maiden at Churchill
in June, first time out on the turf, and he
has run second and third to brilliant Birdie, who I
(01:08:14):
think is the best three year old turf force in America.
Scharita bo Seriavo is gonna have more than looks of
when the Braiders Cut Mile and Brilliant Birdie both in
Big Tom Grade one Turf raises next year. Yeah, she's
got two big time turf forces for next year. This
Hershey has run really well in his last two races.
He's like a improving, lightly raced type. So I'm gonna
(01:08:36):
give him the edge and the Commonwealth Turf number eight Hershey. Wow,
you know you got one other pick number eight Underhill's
tab in race six.
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
You know Bapa trained Cherluki.
Speaker 10 (01:08:49):
Yeah yeah he did, Yeah he did.
Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
I looked it up.
Speaker 13 (01:08:53):
Yeah, and she she was champion. She's a champion two
year old Philly. She didn't stretch out like they thought
she would, but she was still real talented, really good
at middle distances and you know, came to.
Speaker 10 (01:09:08):
The fall and won.
Speaker 13 (01:09:09):
I don't know what this steak was called, but I
remember they had the Breeders Cut the Churchill one year
and they had the undercard stakes on the Breeders' Cup
Saturday program and whatever the Chiluki was called before. Chiluki
won it that day and then they renamed the race
after they're renaming a race on Saturday's opening day. December
twenty sixth la see Pinkai Junior Stakes.
Speaker 10 (01:09:32):
Which is pretty good.
Speaker 13 (01:09:32):
It used to be San Antonio, and I'd look for
some other stakes to be renamed here in the future.
I mean, I would think Churchill Downs is looking at
getting a John Asher and you know they could they
could you know, honor some horses as well that have
performed there too. I mean they got to Chiluki and
some other ones, but I haven't had any new ones
too in a while.
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
It seems yeah, wow, very good.
Speaker 9 (01:09:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:09:58):
I saw them on load.
Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Barnes. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:10:04):
Yeah, they had a video of it.
Speaker 6 (01:10:06):
It's really nice. I mean it just.
Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
Walked out like you to where he was. He was
well behaved and all that good stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:10:13):
That was kind of fun because.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
Yeah, he was.
Speaker 13 (01:10:15):
They put him in the pool one of the Kentucky
Derby future wagers. I know a couple of people at
work at bet two dollars or five dollars at least
a couple of dollars to.
Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
Win on him.
Speaker 13 (01:10:25):
He went off thirty nine to one. Because he was
a nightmare for people that were offering wagering on that
because he was unnamed, gotcha, So he was like a
little bit of a headache. And because he was a
headache for these people. I know they just went in
bet two dollars on him, like if this order to win,
it'll be worth it, I bet you.
Speaker 6 (01:10:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:10:45):
We have actually pooled two of the Kentucky Derby Future
wager next weekend too, so that's always my favorite one
of the year. You also have the only sire wager.
You can wager on which sire will really you know
sire the Derby winner. And you know I always loved
this pool too. Over Thanksgiving weekend, I like to go
out there and bet ten dollars wind bats. I mean,
(01:11:06):
I'll pick the horses out, but I'll bet, like buy
like five or six of them, and then I'll put
them in an envelope and just shake them all up
and then let my nieces and other people.
Speaker 6 (01:11:15):
Oh one, that's cute.
Speaker 13 (01:11:16):
So they got a ten dollars wind take it for
the Derby next year.
Speaker 7 (01:11:19):
Oh that's fun most idea.
Speaker 13 (01:11:21):
Talking stuffers and then knocks out I don't have to
worry about.
Speaker 7 (01:11:26):
Yeah, that's funny.
Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
A couple of two years ago, I guess for stock
for you know, Christmas, we bought two of those horses
that you can buy like you know, an ear whatever
that stuff's called.
Speaker 13 (01:11:39):
Well, my race horse.
Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
My racehorse. Yeah, and the one is already doing hunter
jumper right, but the other one one again, Steve asked me,
since got him?
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Now what's his name? Forget what it is?
Speaker 7 (01:11:56):
Crime Andy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
He's won two races at Remington. It's a third win.
He's buy him by maker. Yeah, yeah, he for a
bunch of money for you.
Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:12:09):
I should try them on synthetics Terfoid this winter. Yeaheah,
that was fire Makers. They're good on synthetics and tar.
I mean they're good on dirt. They're good on all surfaces.
But I hear that he's running at Remming and he's
running on the dirt there. He ship him to Terfoid.
Try him on the tippeta. Maybe he'll take to it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
This don't have to drop on a note, my Golley.
Speaker 13 (01:12:31):
You know TURFOI is getting ready to start the week
after next, and you know their purses are up again.
Speaker 2 (01:12:36):
Like the condition books are here.
Speaker 13 (01:12:39):
Yeah, they made the special eight levels eighty grand, you know,
which is more than a lot of tracks, more than
more than golf streams. For example, Oakland will be higher
than eighty grand, but gold Stream won't be eighty grand.
It'll be maybe seventy and then even fairgrounds they're not
eighty grand. So the purse structure so strong at turf Way,
(01:13:02):
and the barns there just keep on. I mean cos
Asthmas and all these big barns in Kentucky, Cassie and others.
They're sending more and more horses every winter to Turfway,
and of course it's appealing for wood bind type horses
and other synthetic track horses and just seeing many more trainers. Yeah,
(01:13:23):
we're running during turfoy than used to be because it
used to be like you know, the persons are so small,
didn't have other than the big saturdays, didn't have like
you know whatn't the same level. But the horse the
horse quality has improved significantly, so they're looking forward to
simple meat as well.
Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
Well. When we would training, the persons were small, Yes,
they were twice as much as Riverdam.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Yeah yeah, So what times? Post time today?
Speaker 9 (01:13:50):
One pm?
Speaker 6 (01:13:51):
Okay, well time, oh you've got time. We're good.
Speaker 5 (01:13:54):
Well, enjoy yourself, thanks so much and thank you all right,
we'll have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
Okay, good Thanksgiving?
Speaker 13 (01:14:02):
Yeah, hey, happy Thanksgiving for sure. All the best of
all you all, and I hope you have a safe
and I'm trying.
Speaker 9 (01:14:07):
To wait for a holiday.
Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
Are you coming next Saturday?
Speaker 2 (01:14:11):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 13 (01:14:11):
I may have a conflict. I'll let I'll let resting
now though, for sure.
Speaker 6 (01:14:15):
That's good, wonderful, have a good time today, Thanks so much,
all the best of the Kentucky's three and oh against
the spread, covering double digit lines Georgia, Tennessee old myths.
Speaker 13 (01:14:27):
With only three teams that have laid more than ten points
to them, Kentucky covered all of them, so I like
them plus some points today against Texas.
Speaker 5 (01:14:35):
But who knows?
Speaker 6 (01:14:38):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
I think you forget about it.
Speaker 13 (01:14:40):
Yeah, you'll be good.
Speaker 6 (01:14:43):
See you next week hopefully.
Speaker 9 (01:14:45):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
Well cleven Farms war Wheelers City Climbing, who is leading
freshman sives. He's got fourteen winners so far. The best
thing about it is they're winning a major traction, winning
at Keenan and winning at Saratoga. They winning new Woodbine

to win on dirt and grass at the highest level,
and his prongineer doing the same war Will one of
the Grade one Classic Prenous stakes on the dirt of course,
and I also won the Grade one makers Mark Mile
on the grass and he accumulated earnings of a million
(01:15:26):
eighty one thousand, eight hundred and three dollars. This ability
to win at the highest level on both services is
typical of the protonity of the Warfront, who's going on
one hundred and twenty stakes winners now and son of
the sensational side Dancy, who sided one hundred and ninety
eight stakes winners while he was standing at Cleven Farm.
(01:15:49):

All right, we have a few words here about our
friends at Hope Well Insurance Agency in Paris. We've been
with them, she was.
Speaker 8 (01:16:41):
We've been with them.
Speaker 1 (01:16:41):
In Bourbon County for thirty something years and couldn't be
any happier. They are the nicest people and everybody in
Paris knows, and they're such a success. What there I
find interesting about them is they are not tied to
(01:17:04):
a big, big, giant worldwide insurance company. When you call,
they don't ask you if you want to press a
button for English. They are an independent insurance agency and
what they've done necessary clever. They take a carefully selected
(01:17:24):
group of financially sound, reputable big companies so they can
offer the best coverage at the best price. So what
they do is they shop around for you, and when
they do, they can provide you with a no cost,
no obligation review in comparison of your insurance. Every time
(01:17:46):
we've had something wrong, they've boom.
Speaker 8 (01:17:49):
That's it.
Speaker 7 (01:17:50):
That's how that works.
Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
They will give you a no cost, no obligation review
in comparison of your President Insurance can't lose Hope Well
company was established in nineteen fifty five, so by golly.
Speaker 6 (01:18:06):
They're doing it right.
Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
Otherwise they wouldn't still be in business. So it's a
local call nine eight seven two three four seven or
better yet. Stuff are the offices at A twenty Main
Street in Paris. When you drive in, it's on the right.
They are really nice, good people. They'll do a great
job for you.
Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
Wwtfam Georgetown, Lexington.
Speaker 13 (01:18:33):
WTF available everywhere with the iHeartRadio app now number one
for podcasting.
Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
Now back to Horsetails with Ursua Ellis.
Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
Okay. Today's winters last week Bold in Kentucky. Most of
them were anyway good Roan already, Oh okay, oh good,
Thank you Brown. Miss bron will Ridge to Brian Waldridge
down in Mississippi State. Briannie, you're doing okay now? Oh
(01:19:06):
I am.
Speaker 14 (01:19:07):
I was hoping that here if you had any Motown
steak twiners, because I always find out from you first.
Speaker 11 (01:19:12):
But we're doing well. How about you?
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
I think I did something on Motown already. Did you
hear it?
Speaker 6 (01:19:21):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
I didn't.
Speaker 11 (01:19:23):
Most hornings I listened, but I didn't listen this horning.
Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
I feel honest, I think you mentioned him.
Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
Yeah, I did hang on to look for the resum
Ashford stud.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
I know you mentioned him because he's doing well.
Speaker 2 (01:19:44):
If I tag it with him. The reason, the reason
that Brian's interested in that he's got a I guess you.
The weaning now is by Motown. Uh yeah, Motown just
tagged on uh it's side thirteen stakes winner and six
(01:20:04):
up and graded two of them and grated You're graded
stakes winners right out here at Keenlan.
Speaker 7 (01:20:09):
So that's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Yeah, it's pretty good.
Speaker 8 (01:20:14):
Good for you.
Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
Thirteen stakes winners a date and uh got one coming
up for grind.
Speaker 7 (01:20:22):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 11 (01:20:24):
I hope that's all. Was sure put on a growth
spurt lately.
Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
I know he went when he when he run? Are
you going to try to train him? I mean own him,
keep him and running or what?
Speaker 9 (01:20:35):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (01:20:35):
Yes, sir, I'll keep him. Well, we'll see what he
does so well, keep him around.
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Well he'll end up at old friends and.
Speaker 6 (01:20:47):
Yep that's where hours are.
Speaker 2 (01:20:50):
Yeah. Yeah, So what's going on down the Missippi? See?
Speaker 14 (01:20:57):
Well, I've been working on book chapters uh this week
for most of my time. But I've been trucking by
of my former residence is writing a textbook for veterinary teams,
so she asked me to write several chapters, which of
course I've been late doing but I'm getting there on those.
(01:21:18):
But one of the things that I found on my
book chapters it was really interesting and that's something we
take for granted. And the bit is that you the
gut has a nervous system that's kind of outside of
our our other nervous system. You've got nervous system that.
Speaker 11 (01:21:39):
We control, you know, controls your muscles, but you also
have what's called the ontonomic nervous system. So that's what
makes the gut move and all those sorts of things.
And I found a well, I thought a really interesting
article about how there's there's a nervous system that goes
to your gut and it you when you're good, moves.
(01:22:01):
It has to move in two different directions. And one
of the movements is is it a mixing movement. So
it's like if you, you know, if you have a
stress ball in your hand and you're and you're just
scrishing your hand back and forth, and those are the
mixing movements. But also has to do propulsive. You know,
things have to move through and and all of those
those those movements are controlled by what the autonomic nurses
(01:22:25):
and nurses we really don't control. But what interests me
in that and you and you know what we believe
this but don't know. And you know a lot of
people parting through this or post part of mayors will
call it or you can sometimes get a sequel rupture
where they're seeking the first part of large intestinal rupture
(01:22:46):
and mayors post foling, and a lot of times they
don't show you really any sign with that. The men
not even be calicky, and the secum has one way in,
one way out, so if it just doesn't dump itself correctly,
then it'll fill up with gas or feeding and they
can rupture just you know.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
With no signs.
Speaker 11 (01:23:05):
We worry about the hospital because you know things like
you said, if you just put a horse in a stall,
it can affect it. When I went to to Scotland
to that meeting and then some things I read for
these chapters, it's really interesting if you if you bring
a horse into a stall, they've shown that the amount
(01:23:26):
of manure that it'll pass will go down. The horse
can drink more water, but the amount of manure. If
you just take a horse off past or pinning a stall,
it's then new production will go down. So you know
that probably feeds into this as well. And then it
was those marriage plus fall a marriage. You know, one
thing we've always kind of thought never really need the
institute is maybe when the foal is being born, you know,
(01:23:48):
the foal has to literally flip from Lenon's back to
kind of turning over to where it's sort of like
a you know, a dive position, like going diving into
swimming pool. That maybe some of those movements, you know,
this whole kind of kicks the gut and maybe irritates it.
And I can clearly remember, and I should have taken
a picture of this. I can clearly remember the mayor
(01:24:09):
we took the surgery that was about a day post falling,
and she had a perfect little full sized horseshoe bruise
on her large intestine with that follic kick, that mare
making its turn. And yeah, so I think that that
feeds into it maybe, just and what they go through
folling does and then you know, we take on the surgery,
(01:24:33):
we literally strip the intestines, the small intestine to get
all that feed material out and that can irritate it. So,
you know, I think that's part of why we sometimes
get these weird post folling or maybe way you have
a horse that goes to surgery and it doesn't, you know,
it doesn't kind of get its movement back, doesn't start
making Minera's grips. It's because we affected this little gangly
(01:24:58):
that kind of a little spot for those where those
nervous system works and make it not move correctly. So uh,
really interesting to me, hopeful it's interesting to everybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
Very interesting. Yeah, that's really good. If you named your
cold chip.
Speaker 11 (01:25:18):
I have not officially named them, so I'm lazy, and
I have the microchip. So once I put the micro
chip in, I'll have a name reveal. But I do
have a name. I've picked a name, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
Cheese Cheese, Mo Cheese Cheese Cheese is on the list.
Speaker 11 (01:25:41):
I think if they reject my first name, cheese is
number two. I don't know if the other owner is
going to go for that, but I do like to
name Mo cheese a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:25:50):
Do you as much as we pissed to you about it?
Speaker 11 (01:25:56):
No, I think it's a great way. Maybe you get
some sponsorships. You know, we can to get everybody lined
up with some cheese every month in a sponsorship. If
you have an nil, have an nil agreement.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
Okay, Well we got to let you go. So thanks
for calling, Thanks for calling, and good to talk to
you again. I hope you hope you're coming up here
pretty soon.
Speaker 4 (01:26:17):
Happy Thanksgiving?
Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
Oh yeah, happy, I have a give.
Speaker 11 (01:26:19):
It's changed again, but I am getting warmer to actually
having a date at least in December. So it changed
on me again because I keep forgetting things and uh,
but I hope at least looking like maybe mid December,
something's going to happen. I've got to breathe the Kentucky air.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
Okay, all right, well, thank hey, We'll talk to you
next week, all right.
Speaker 11 (01:26:42):

walked out of a Sally Van to win the Derby
or the Breeders Scrubber triple Crown. And I saw Jeff
getting off of Sally Van. I think it was at Churchill.
(01:34:05):
I can't remember exactly, but it was impressive. So think
about that the next time you ship your horse across
the county of the country.
Speaker 7 (01:34:14):
Believe me, if it's good enough for Justify, holy Cow,
it's good enough.
Speaker 4 (01:34:20):
For wherever your hauling period.
Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
So sally Van's are always in great shape person behind
the wheels, and experienced driver and an experienced horseman. And
you have to have those two things.
Speaker 7 (01:34:34):
Because you just do.
Speaker 1 (01:34:35):
You're trusting your horse to the driver of a sally
Van and he you just figure he knows what he's doing.
So folks at sally Van wouldn't have it any other way.
And that's why. For I don't know how many decades.
Ah my god, it feels like they've been in business forever.
(01:34:56):
It's the safest.
Speaker 8 (01:34:57):
Way to the winter circle.
Speaker 7 (01:34:59):
Give him a call.
Speaker 1 (01:34:59):
It's local number two five to five nine four oh

at sally Vans dot com and enjoy the ride.
Speaker 3 (01:35:12):
Now back to Horsetails with ursul Ellis.
Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
Okay, Well, I was browsing through some of these old
books that I've got at home when I was in
the nineteen forty five American Racehorses, and I stumbled cross
the obituary of Exterminator and his very great racehorse. He
died that year and I want to read it because
it was really, really, He's worth writing. Joe Palmer wrote it.
(01:35:42):
Of course, of all the horses which died in nineteen
forty five, the greatest by pounds and the oldest by
years was almost legendary Exterminator, the weight carrier, the stayer,
the stretch runner. He had lived a little over thirty years,
a great age for a horse. Many horsemen, through him,
thought him the greatest horse they had ever seen. Many
(01:36:05):
racing people who had never seen him knew of him
as a sort of symbol of indestructibility, of stamina and
of thirdid courage. He made his lass race at Dorvale
Park in June of nineteen twenty four, and since then
he has been a pensioner and a favorite, first at
Reminic Hall in Virginia, later at count MANORSTD, and finally
(01:36:28):
at Sunbriar Court in Birmingham, New York, where he died
on September the twenty sixth. He was buried there beside
his old stablemate Sunbrier, whom he had planted as head
of the stable in nineteen eighteen. Exterminator was fold on
May the thirtieth, nineteen fifteen, at Almahurst Farm. It did
(01:36:48):
not then bear that name, it Silver and Jessmin County,
and he was the son of McGee and Fairy Empress,
which W. P. Might had brought from Mail. Mister Knight
died before Exterminator was sold, and the mayor passed to
his mother, Miss m J. Missner. Actually Missus Misner was
(01:37:10):
the breeder of Exterminator. The but another son, Dixie Knight,
attended to the business affairs of the farm, and it
was in his name that was finally officially listed him
as a breeder. It was the third son, g Il Knight,
father of Henry and Joe L. Knight, who suggested the
meeting with McGee, and this was apparently worked out on
(01:37:33):
a partnership basis, for when Exterminator was sold in a
pattick at Saratoga in nineteen sixteen, he was cataloged at
a property of Knight and Charles W. Moore, the latter
owner of McGee. He was bought for fifteen hundred dollars
by cal Mallam, a native of Alabama who had settled
in Electionington and had been very successful in owning and
(01:37:54):
training horses. He bought Exterminator and several other yearlings, mainly
with a view of telling him later the prophet. In
the same year, the late William Sharpcimber bought an imported
colt named Sunday for six thousand dollars, and not caring
for the name, he changed it to Sunbriar. In nineteen seventeen,
Sunbrow was the leading two year old colt of the season,
(01:38:17):
with winnings of fifty nine thousand, five hundred and five dollars.
Exterminator having got into a bad physical condition that had
been guilding, and he was raised race once at Latonia
three times in Canada. He won two unimportant races and
a total of one thousand, three hundred and fifty dollars,
but at three the pass of the two horses costs.
(01:38:38):
Sunbriar had refused to extend himself and he works, and
mister Kilmer wanted a horse to work with him. Exterminator
had been going well at Lats and finally mister Kimber
bought him for nine thousand dollars in cash and two
maiden phillies by Ogden. Henry McDaniel was training the Kilmer
horses at the time, and as he recalls the matter, now,
(01:38:59):
mister Kimber told them not to start Sunbriar for the
Derby unless he could guarantee the cold to win. And
this is a quote. If I could guarantee a horse
could win, said Uncle Henry, I'd run a three horse parley.
Then I'd have more money than you, and I wouldn't
have to be bothered with you anymore. Mister Kumber was
careful to state that he had not bought Exterminator to
(01:39:22):
run in the derby, and all his life he said
Sunbriers could beat the Exterminator doing anything, but it was exterminated.
They won the Kentucky Derby at the extreme outsider, while
Sunbrier stayed in the stable, and it was Exterminator whose
fame grew year by year, coming to a conclusion perhaps
when he won the Pemnical Cup for the third consecutive
(01:39:43):
here he did as much as for the Saratoga Cup twice.
He had won the two mile Autumn Gold Cup at Belmont.
The weight he carried has become a legendary and perhaps exaggerated,
but he was given one hundred and thirty pounds or
more on thirty four occasions, and once was handicap at
one hundred and forty pounds. He won the Kentucky Handicap
(01:40:05):
on one hundred and thirty eight pounds in the Toronto
Autumn Cup under one hundred and thirty seven. He could
and sometimes did win at six furlongs, but his routes,
but the routes from a mile and a quarter and
up were his favorite distances. When he left racing Wars
at nine, he had started one hundred times and had
won fifty races, earning two hundred and fifty two thousand,
(01:40:26):
nine hundred and ninety six dollars. The biggest person he
ever won was fifteen thousand, seven hundred and twenty five dollars.
Nine trainers handled him. Nine trainers, mister Kuhmer switched about occasionally.
An exterminator ran for them all. He shipped well, he
ate well, he ran well. Every time he went out.
He did not grow sour, and the punishment no cunning
(01:40:48):
after a long experience. He was an honest, lovable, hard running,
plain looking horse, and he became a hero to the public,
which affectionately called old Bones because of its angular and
ungraceful frame. He did not God's way or tracks, or
horses or distance. One of the great races was for
(01:41:10):
the Pemlical Cup in nineteen twenty one, which he fought
Boniface every step of the way and one only in
the last tribe. Henry mcgannel was training Boniface at the time.
Bill Napp had Exterminator. After the race, Uncle Henry commented
Exterminator drew a knife on him. After mister Kilmer's death,
Exterminator remained a great favorite with his widow and with
(01:41:33):
the children of Birmingham, and then they gave him a
birthday party every year, the last one coming three days
too early so the children could enjoy festivities on a Sunday,
May twenty seventh, nineteen forty five. That was what Joe
Palmer wrote about wonderful in nineteen forty five as he
(01:42:00):
passed away. Okay, ooh as see what are we doing now?
We got there Bent Training Center to talk about.
Speaker 6 (01:42:09):
We had great place to train.
Speaker 2 (01:42:11):
Yeah, that's your huh. Okay, I was more to do.
I can do. I tell you what to do. I'll
just go on and read that column at uh that
Joe Palmer wrote in American Race Horses not American race Horses,
and one of his columns Ago didn't in his book,
(01:42:35):
Uh this was racing after the title of the Singer's
two guildings. After arms second race at highl Ear, there
was a great shaking of heads. Looks like his wash
up was the consensus. He had shown no early speed,
and he had gained only gradually on in different horses
(01:42:57):
to be in the undistinguished third. It was a sad
showing for horse which in nineteen forty six and nineteen
forty seven could blow down anything on four feet at
a mile and a quarter. Jimmy Jones, who trained the
eight year old son of bull Leave, was at the
door of the press box. We'll go on with him,
he said, but it's one hundred to one. He'll never
(01:43:18):
win another stakes race. He underestimated. The fourth estate. One member, modestly,
turning his back for a moment, produced a will to
dollar bill and took one hundred dollars worth of this.
Jimmy accepted the wager, but then set up his book.
Several of the persons were searching themselves menacingly. Did exterminate
(01:43:39):
every winter stakes after he was eight? Jimmy asked. There
was no immediate answer, but later there was a look
into the records. On April the twenty first, nineteen twenty three,
the great Old Gilling picked up one hundred and twenty
pounds and beat another Kentucky Derby winner, Paul Jones, the
neck in the Philadelphia Handicap at hopt and Grob, giving
(01:44:01):
the the contender twenty pounds. He ran in two other
races that year, each time under one hundred and thirty
two pounds, and was once third one second beat the nose.
He won three races the following year at nine, but
they were not stakes and he was in with lightweights. Recently,
Arm was out again, and this time he won, brushing
(01:44:21):
away an inferior fuel easily and running seven furlongs of
one twenty three and two. This was the stakes race either,
but Arm seems to have found the early speed he lacked.
He guess here that Jimmy made a bad bet, But
Arm will have to go aways to merry comparison with
the angular big frame Chestnut, which had captured the horse
(01:44:44):
players a generation to go. The most weight Arm ever
carried was one hundred and thirty five pounds and a
sixth Fair long Fall high Weight Handicap at four years old,
and Trude North gave him five pounds and beam he
carried one hundred and thirty two pounds four times and
was eating them all of them. He never won more
than one hundred and thirty Exterminator, which at the same
(01:45:07):
stage of his career had raised ninety three times against
sixty nine for Arm picked up more than one hundred
and thirty pounds exactly thirty times, he won sixteen of them.
His best weight carrying effort was in the Kentucky Handicap
of nineteen twenty two, when he was given seven. The
race was then at a mile and a half and
(01:45:29):
exterminated him look one hundred and thirty eight pounds over
the course and one by length and a half from
five brand a four year old under one hundred and
nineteen he won the wood bind An Autumn Handicap under
one hundred and thirty seven pounds, and he repeatedly repeatedly
under one hundred and thirty five in the Ohio Jockey
Club Handicap in nineteen twenty carried one hundred and thirty
(01:45:52):
four pounds and one at two and a quarter miles.
There were some other points of difference too. It has
always been doubted, but here the Arm could go more
than a mile and a quarter and this has been
confirmed more or less, but default since the stable residently
refused him to send him further. A regular fall event
used to be external. In his conquest of the two
(01:46:15):
in a quarter mild Pimlical Cup, he wandered under one
hundred and twenty one pounds in nineteen nineteen, under one
hundred and twenty six in nineteen twenty and one hundred
nineteen twenty one. He tried it again in nineteen twenty two,
but his years had got to him and he was
third behind Captain Alcock, which got twenty pounds and Paul Jones,
(01:46:36):
which got twenty seven. For another thing, armand Mud in
the Pimlical Special, he made one pass at cosmic Bomb
on a wet track and then began falling back, leaving
the task to fervent. Exterminator took his races as it
came hotter cole Weat to drive doesn't need a track,
no no distance, And the other hand he got an
(01:46:59):
old warrior probably never had the high order of speed
which Arm commanded at his best. It would be a
mistake to think of Exterminator as a plotter, for he
wanted six felongs as leader as his seventh year. But
it is doubtful that he could have armed up at
the middle distances, but at staying at wait, carrying and
(01:47:21):
accept him any going. We haven't seen Exterminators like since,
though Discovery came closed. Even Exterminator was the invincible giant
that he seemed as one looks back through the years.
He was giving his heaviest task in the Independence handicap
of Antonia on July fourth, nineteen twenty eight, when he
(01:47:43):
was assigned that his heaviest burden one hundred and forty
pounds to care for a punishing mile and a half.
This student of performance, then an innocent of college age,
was sitting thoughtfully in a handbook up on North Limestone
Street in Lexington, Kentucky the time, reading the Constitution. Maybe
it was a ration form I forgot, which there was
(01:48:06):
in the race a horse named Firebrand, which, like Exterminator,
was the son of the imported Staian McGee, and also
like Exterminator, was a big, raw boned, gritty stare. One's
heart went out to Exterminator under his crushing one hundred
and forty pounds, but Firebrand had only one hundred and sixteen,
including mc garner. At the peak of his form. Five
(01:48:28):
Brand at from the fourth of July is a good
enough hunch bet for anybody. It was decided Exterminator and
Arousing six five grand won handsomely from devastation, and this department,
for some four hours was the wealthless juvenal in central Kentucky.
Exterminator and five Brand are both gone now, so is Latonium.
(01:48:51):
So was the money. But all of them were grand
while they lasted. That was old Farmer. He's the best best.
Speaker 7 (01:49:01):
No two ways about it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:03):
Just you can't think about that is you know, you
can go back and reread that stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:49:09):
It's just as good.
Speaker 1 (01:49:10):
Yeah, you sometimes pick up on different things. Well, well,
here we are at the training center and it's cold.
Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
Had had a loose horse this morning.
Speaker 7 (01:49:24):
Yeah, I never see that. He's all tacked up and stuff.
Speaker 8 (01:49:27):
That means the rider fell off.
Speaker 1 (01:49:32):
You know.
Speaker 7 (01:49:32):
He just galloped by.
Speaker 1 (01:49:33):
Here once and then they came back and here some
guy got him.
Speaker 2 (01:49:38):
Yeah, he went back by and then they caught him
right out here.
Speaker 7 (01:49:41):
Yeah, he was tired of it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:43):
Yeah, he was looking to be caught.
Speaker 6 (01:49:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:49:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:49:46):
It was yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:49:49):
Fun tracks looks good.
Speaker 1 (01:49:51):
They floated it, of course, did it read that much?
Speaker 2 (01:49:55):
Last night?
Speaker 6 (01:49:56):
I don't know, but it was floated when we got here.
Speaker 2 (01:50:00):
Must well usually the money then. But the tracks are
always good. It's good.
Speaker 8 (01:50:05):
Oh yeah, it's just good.
Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
We've got two tracks out here and you know, both
of them very very good.
Speaker 6 (01:50:13):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (01:50:15):
Okay, they as I said, they've got two tracks out here.
That of course, they've got a five h mile track
which is good, a good place down below where you
can take babies, take babies down there to keep them
out of the way.
Speaker 1 (01:50:31):
And you know, the gallops are good because they used
to get used to galloping.
Speaker 13 (01:50:36):
By people and other horses.
Speaker 1 (01:50:40):
That's the whole thing they have to get used to.
You know, when they show up here they've been broke
a little on the farm and all that kind of stuff.
Where it's awful quiet, nice and out here when it's
training hours, when the tracks are open, they get to
see all that stuff and they have to be exposed
(01:51:00):
to it.
Speaker 8 (01:51:02):
So it's it's a it's a great time.
Speaker 2 (01:51:04):
Of course, you've got to starting to get right right
then here and yeah, a starter over there, yes, and official,
got an official clocker, yes.
Speaker 1 (01:51:15):
And at the URSA f LS memorial trackers hawkers whatever stand.
Speaker 7 (01:51:26):
Yeah, that's fun.
Speaker 2 (01:51:29):
It was fun. I've got how long was that? I
was there? Ten years? Clocking? Yeah, actually we stopped training.
Speaker 1 (01:51:37):
I know, it's hard to remember. It's hard to figure
that we did that all that time.
Speaker 7 (01:51:41):
That was fun.
Speaker 2 (01:51:43):
Used to the show over there, Yeah, I used to
do the show from the Yeah, great drink would come
at ten o'clock and we you were doing the show
with it then too. Racing. Yeah, God, you've been with
us a long. How long you been with us in
the studio?
Speaker 10 (01:51:59):
They thing out, probably, uh, sixteen.
Speaker 2 (01:52:04):
Years, sixteen or seventeen years, he says, I.
Speaker 8 (01:52:08):
Haven't coming out maybe how long have you been with ups?
Speaker 2 (01:52:12):
But some of us, I'm gonna driving on for eleven years.
Speaker 1 (01:52:16):
Gosh, I don't understand the time going.
Speaker 8 (01:52:19):
I mean, it's just tremendous.
Speaker 2 (01:52:21):
It's the whole time.
Speaker 5 (01:52:22):
I've been doing that.
Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
So yeah, yeah, the old time, but years.
Speaker 7 (01:52:28):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (01:52:29):
You all had show Dammer out here that had come out, Yeah,
studio after he quit. I've been since then, yeah, Sean Dammer.
Speaker 2 (01:52:40):
Yeah. Well, anyway, it's a great place to train horses
out there there. I say, they've got the two tracks
and Jim Pennegast runs a place and he's he takes
care of the tracks here, and it takes care of
the tracks of Keenan.
Speaker 4 (01:52:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:52:58):
I noticed that we had had a storm that left
some damage in piece by piece.
Speaker 4 (01:53:04):
It's it.
Speaker 7 (01:53:05):
They fixed it.
Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:53:07):
I know this barn behind us, the doors were kind
of munked up and stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:53:11):
And now they've got new doors and they're painted and
it all.
Speaker 2 (01:53:15):
I think they're remodeling that. This barn right down here.
Speaker 7 (01:53:19):
At the top of the hill.
Speaker 2 (01:53:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:53:21):
Yeah, well they fixed up one end of it.
Speaker 7 (01:53:23):
Whatever they did, I.
Speaker 8 (01:53:25):
Don't know, but it looked from ice.
Speaker 2 (01:53:27):
Yeah. But it's a great place to border have been
to train your horses, and a lot of horses come
out here and win and so forth.
Speaker 8 (01:53:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:53:34):
And now turf Way is opening up, so here we go. Yeah,
big big winters at turf Way. You got any winters
from last week?
Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
And well we got about four minutes. Yeah. Well, let's
see what else is Who else is running? Oh? They run.
I didn't give you this when they running running the
stakes out of del Marden. They goes off at seven.
The two races at Churchill. Let's see when they the
Chulouki as I said she was a champion two year
(01:54:08):
old for the I've got some stuff on her and
we look up at it later on. She was a
champion two year old over a year. I think back
in nineteen ninety seven and Bob Baffin trained her and
doctor mens Ark Smile West Breader. Doctor West was a
Dennis and they've trained they better in partnership with mister
(01:54:35):
Missus mc miller. Of course he trained.
Speaker 8 (01:54:38):
Wasn't that Smiser West? Wasn't he from Midway?
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
Yeah? So was mac He lived down in Midway anyway. Yeah,
I've tried to think of the name of the horse
that he trained and won a.
Speaker 8 (01:54:53):
Derby, but don't ask me. I can't remember last year.
Speaker 1 (01:54:58):
Yeah, I mean really, that's one of those things that
it's like being a race announcer. That's the racetrack. You
can either remember them, are you can't? And I'm on
the list if I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
Well, they're running them the Chilouky Sakes at Churchill today
and the Commonwealth Turf Cup, which is the greatest sake.
Also there are one other greatest sakes you're running today
as out of del Mar the Native Divers Sakes, who
was Native Diver was a great favorite of racist tracks
out there for several years and up and down the
(01:55:34):
West coast and everything. They brought him east for one time.
He didn't run very good in the east, but really, yeah,
but the Native divers one hundred thousand and three and
up going a mile and eight. Mirra Marty has got
the rail. He's by in the missief Ultra Power is
number two. Skinners number three, number four salesman who was
(01:55:58):
an Irish bread Dublawe Tarantino is number five, by pioneer
of the Nile over at Ashford stood. And then the
mixed two. Just a field of six mixed two is
by good magic, three of them. Incidentally, three of the
six we're raised on McCaulay products good. So we'll have
(01:56:23):
to watch that, Jackie.
Speaker 7 (01:56:24):
Yeah, we always do.
Speaker 1 (01:56:26):
When we watch, we watch for all the sponsored sources,
and McCauley's speeds great.
Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
And if you're looking for stalls out there the Thirber Center,
the number is eighty five nine two nine three eighteen
fifty three and it's astrogen penagas and he will direct
you too if you've got to stop stalls open, and
if not, the best thing you do is just if
you just need a couple of stalls is walk through them,
(01:56:54):
take a walk through the barns out here and ask
if there's any empty stalls. Yeah, all right, well it's
time to be a laugh. We appreciate you listening, Okay,
And what time? Who they playing today?
Speaker 8 (01:57:10):
Wat?
Speaker 2 (01:57:10):
Never? Man, they're playing textives? Where's Texas ran? Right? Rank
number two in the nation playing a Texas Well, I'm
gonna put on my on television on what I don't
think I was gonna watch it. Put on your black
(01:57:31):
arm brand, friends, But anyway, we better go. We'll talk
to you next week.
