De Leitch Reports Radio Network presents StockyardsBank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. To interact
with the show. Call us ateight five nine two eight oh two two
eighty seven at eight five nine twoeight oh cats, Welcome back to stock
Yards Banks Sunday Morning Sports Talk.I am Anthony White along with Larry Walk

(00:34):
and Van House. Thanks for thelast two hours talking to Vince Merrow and
Jill Julian Tackett of Commissioner khe SAA. There are referee positions open out there.
It's been through a lot weather, all kinds of weather probably happened this

(00:55):
past week. Two postpone games, canceled games and rearrange games, and Vince
has most of the staff. Ithink we're gonna have ten wins or more.
Some of us thinking thirteen wins.So it has been a great show
thus far. Just want them kindof crapt things back in regroup. See
where we are collectively, Larry Vaught, after the past two hours finished up

(01:19):
this final, I where are youat? Mentally? There's been a lot
to take in. It's been ait's it's been a lot to absorbed.
I've liked it. I mean,I think we've enjoyed listening to Julian information
on what he had to share. And I always like Vince because I say,
he's the associate coach, recruiting coordinator, NFL lias on tight ends,

(01:40):
coach, goodwill ambassador. But hecan go through that whole roster for you.
And I mean, and the guysthat he mentions you pay attention to
ye. And I'll again, likeI could ask. I could talk to
Vents for two hours and ask questionsand things. I mean, I still
think one of the best recruiting moveshe made was when you get Dion Walker.

(02:00):
But everybody's recruiting to be an offensiveline and that's what Vince said.
He could be a great one.But most schools weren't wanting to say,
hey, well, if you wantto play defense, will let you try.
Why in the world would you notsay, okay, we'll see,
like what Vince did, and thatgot him in the door, and he
just stayed in the door then, and look at what you've got now,

(02:20):
I mean, you've got a guythat even even Annoir who never walks to
you, don't get too glad sayinghe got a chance to be a top
five NFL pick. I mean, for anwar. That's as far out as
he's But when he said it thefirst time at media day, tell us,
can you repeat that? I'm afraidI didn't hear that right, And
I said, could you never sayhere? You're telling aunt dae't. I'm
he's sure if he's gonna start naturearound and say he's gonna be a top

(02:42):
five pick. But yeah, so, I mean, really appreciate Vince.
I always been willing to come onwith us, and hopefully we'll have him
on again a couple of times duringthe season after some big games. Not
that I want to well, notthat I want to question the big dog,
but let me ask you this. And he has a lot on his
plate, just like you name andthat's why it's like Alexa Farr. I
haven't heard his name in a while, but I think he's transitioning between he's

(03:05):
in the tweens this and he doesthis too well and this too well,
where they really don't know where they'regonna use them. Sometimes you got running
back who catch the ball a lotand running backs who run the ball,
so you get stuck between whether you'rerunning back or receiver. Those type of
things do happen. Larry but areyou playing just playing? Are you surprised
that uh Shamar Porter wasn't brought up? Yes, I was okay, And
I still think that might be agafway to ask Fence about. Yeah,

(03:28):
he'd just set a little bit morebecause you can't get through the seasonal like
five receivers or something like what they'retalking about, right, And I think
Samar is bigger than Burying. He'salmost as fast as as Varying. I
mean, he was a top threehundred recruit, had his choice of anywhere
to go, and I mean Ireally really like him. I've watched some
of his film. I got tosee him play once in high school and

(03:50):
I was down in the Nashville area. Yeah, and I've talked to him
a couple of different times. Ithink he's a guy that Yeah, I
think somewhere along the way you're gonnasee him get his change. I think
him and Anthony Brown, they've gottwo dynamite receivers. Of course, they
just got a commitment from another guyin Florida receiver that I think it's gonna
be a really big time player fortwo for him and hardly gilmore So.

(04:12):
I mean, Limb is bringing ina lot of big time receivers. And
as I said, I watched CutterBowley last night. Really like Tim,
you got the commitment from Stone Saundersin the twenty twenty five class or either
we had him on his day adon with us. So those those guys
want to come play for Limb. And as you did say, uh,
as you did say you saw Schmarplay down in Tennessee. The phone number

(04:34):
to reach the show is eight fivenine two eight o two to eighty seven,
because Jeff from Tennessee did call earlierbefore we had the Big Dog on,
so we had to push him back. If you do want to join
this show, talk to Van orLarry. I'm here if you've got to
say something to me, but youcan reach the eight five nine two eight
oh two two eight seven's eight fivenine two eight zero cats. Van,

(04:56):
Where where are you at mentally atthis whole? I know you know a
lot football, but when you whensomebody inside of the locker room, it's
throwing in, it's throwing the verbagearound, and the confidence of the Big
Dog is throwing around. Wolf.Where are you at? Man? Man,
I'm yeah, I'm feeling good. That's one more thing I would like
to say about the officiating. Ithink, honestly in this country need to

(05:18):
start a program in high school tryingto teach the kids who are not the
greatest athletes how to stay in thesport after high school and be officials.
I think they need to be aclass that can bridge that gap. And
it's not only in trackers, andI mean not only football. Track is
another one where officials are are startingto wean themselves out because it's all of

(05:39):
the baby boom boomers guys. Weneed to get some young officials and track
two involved in sports because not likemister Tacker said, now everybody after high
school continues there their athletic career afterthat. But as far as the football
team, man, I can't understandhow we at UK can't get on the

(06:00):
bandwagon with this team with all thedepth and like coach said earlier, is
is we play a lot of freshmanlast year. Now I think about the
biggest improvement is from the freshman toyour sophomore year. If those guys were
good last year, they're gonna beeven better this year. With a spring
in the strength and condition program isa big key for all these young kids

(06:21):
coming from from high school in thehigh school rank because your your body starts
to develop. So I think thisyear it's going to be a great year
for us. Like coach said,if God willing, we stay out of
out of the out of the trainingroom, I think this is gonna be
a special year. And you canhear it in his voice that how excited
to hear is for this first game. And I know we talked about this

(06:45):
on the locker. I can't.I think. Okay, So Larry Vault
has us eight and for it,I think Larry vall, Oh, I've
gone up, I've gone well,we're going back. No, we're going
back to last week. Okay. And I want to see evil, even
with all that blue kool aid youjust drink. I want to see I
want to see Silvan, Larry said, which is all of all of his

(07:09):
projections are understandable to me. Hesays Alabama and Georgia probably gonna be ones
we would likely not win or it'llbe tough to win. He also thinks
Tennessee is Tennessee and Tennessee Tennessee Ufor four years and the other one Mississippi
States. Yeah, Mississippi State, which yes, And I'm on the Mississippi
State bandwagon. I think that's gonnabe one we may overlook. So so

(07:32):
I don't have a problem with thisfor I don't know if he which one
of those four or which two ofthose four he's gonna change now that he's
up to ten or eleven wins. But but where are you at? I
know eleven? I may be goingall the way now, So you got
any arguments with Larry or you thinkLarry is just you think Larry is just

(07:55):
in those four games, because Idon't see any problem with those four games.
No, I don't. But here'sa great think about where the program
is. Just imagine in ninety fiveif you saw George and Alabama again,
you were calling those as losses juststraight off the bat. Now those are
those two, don't look and nowand now we're in a game of oh
well, I mean they on papercould probably will probably be the butt.

(08:18):
There's a chance that we can probablysneak one of those. And I think
that's where we had. This isthe thing about mystp State and it is
that you've got a whole new staffcoming in a different offense, which this
guy is not gonna run the Leachsystem, I'm sure, and those guys
were recruited for that system. Ithink you got to look into that and
see are they gonna be able toadapt offensively to this new scheme in year

(08:43):
one. That's that's asking a lot. If that happened to kentuckt We've been
all where our offense is gonna struggle, So why can't we say that two
other teams. I just think thereare some things with Georgia new quarterback,
Alabama new quarterback. I think Tennesseecoming to our home this time. I
think those are the difference makers thatI can see us at least winning two

(09:03):
of those. And that's why I'mstaying ten wins because I think we can
win two of those, and Iwill standing strongly on those that we can
win ten games because I think wecan get miss Standing Starksville, although we
both know how difficult it is toplay that, and I see, there
you go. That's that's why Iwent back and pick Mississippi State because Anthony
keeps telling me that, because it'sso hard to play down there. If

(09:24):
they don't fool pointing you, wegot a chance. They food coachers and
who knows what they're gonna do toyou down there. So I'm still having
a hard time because Van Kentucky hasnot beat an SEC West team on the
road since back in two thousand andten. I think it is when U
Joker, when they've won that gameat Auburn and they used three different quarterbacks

(09:46):
in the game. That's when RandallCoplay quarterbacks up and the buck is gonna
stop this year. Okay, Ilike that, Okay, okay, okay,
But I did want to ask youthis van for we head to an
early break so we can talk.I do want to find out the thoughts
on track because last time we hadget you all track there. I think

(10:07):
we're gonna track Jack down around eleventhirties and see what happen happen with his
basketball A second a performance. Uh, how did you feel about with this
game? You're at the cornerback position. You want to see a rotation at
cornerbacks or do you think we werefortunate enough to have a lot of guys
who can rotate at that position orsome people you want to have them them

(10:30):
two guys out there having their businesstill they get tired. Look, I
honestly think you need at least threebecause here's the deal. If people don't
fans don't get this, and thisis why I don't like playing man to
man that much. When you getBaryon Brown on a nine route, which
is a goal route down the sidelineand he runs full speed and they don't
throw it to him, and knowwhat he does. He taps his him

(10:52):
and he goes to the sideline,A new guy comes in. Know what
happens to the corner. He runsback to the line of scrimmags. He
gets the new guy fresh. Soyou always gotta get at least three to
four so you can rotate series orevery other series of two series at the
time. So I think you reallydo need three to four. And I'm
I'm a big fan of JQ andI've been saying, I said you Phillis
was gonna be the break up guylast year, so I'm not shocked by

(11:15):
him. And then you got Harriston, Harriston, you got Robinson. I
think you got enough guys there toreally make a difference and get us back
to when we had Lonnie Johnston, west Street and my guy Baby. When
I think it's so underrated in thisprogram, I think getting back to at
least three high end guys. Highend guy's gonna make a real difference with
his defense. Well, I'm allfor that. I'm here for that.

(11:37):
I don't not really worried about ourdefense. I think everything hinges on the
offense line. So that's why Ithink. That's why I'm going to get
the eye tests and in person.I'm gonna be there on September second.
Yeah, weak from six days away. Yeah yeah, I'm gonna be there.
I'm gonna be there in person.Man, and uh, I didn't

(11:58):
want to have another little follow upbefore we go into this break and come
back and talk to Van about howgreat our track programs has produced some national
stars as well. We sent Isent. I'm not gonna say we.
I sent our trusty in turn,Jake over to across the street to Rupperna
to find Jack Pilgrim playing basketball andthe Celebrity Fantasy Challenge. And I know

(12:28):
a couple of years ago I wentover there when that that center was just
being built, and I roamed aroundtrying to find out what was going on,
see how it looked, and Iwas escort I was detained and escorted
out promptly by three very nice pleasantwomen in uniform. They were nice.
They escorted me out. My manJack, My man Jake didn't get any

(12:50):
different treatment. He went over there. He was detained as well, but
he was treated a little nicer becauseapparently Jack Pilgrim was not at Rupperina.
The game they're playing is not arep arena. Young Jake is running around
checking doors. Here comes the uniformover there. What are you doing,
buddy, I I'm looking for I'mlooking for my friend. I need to

(13:11):
get a message to him. Well, what is your friend doing? Well,
he's supposed to being there playing.Nobody's playing basketball here. So just
to let you all know that ourtrusty in turn Jake did run over there
to try to catch up with Jack, and Jack was not there. He
did get detained and got removed promptlyand without any without any scars, Yeah,

(13:31):
without any scars. He's here,he's healthy, he's fine. So
if anybody's concerned about it, ifyou've seen a guy who you know being
escorted out a Central Bank center, then it was it was our intern Jake.
It will be back to talk alittle bit more and listen Enjoyable Sunday
Morning. Sunday Morning Sports Talk you'relistening to stock Yards Bank Sunday morning sports
talk on news radio six thirty wLP. This is the home of the

(13:52):
Wildcats, six thirty WLAP. Welcomeback, stock Jerks based Sunday going to
sports stock. I am Pantony Whitealong with Larry Vault and Van House talking
UK sports, Kentucky high school sports, and uh, I think we're going

(14:15):
to transition. We got a coupleof collars who We're gonna get to those
first. Then we were probably tryingto transition into a little track and field
because apparently Kentucky former Kentucky athletes aremaking a splash nationally, world, internationally,
yeah, oh all's internationally. Yeah, so representing the United States.

(14:37):
We are going to get to thephone. And I think we have Daniel
on hold. Thanks for holding Daniel. How's it going? Oh fine,
thank you, UK class of ninety. I live in eastern Pennsylvania. But
my comment is about the basketball schedule. I saw where they scheduled a game
here in the Philly area to playpat Oh, they blew the opportunity.

(15:03):
Penn's home court is the Pilestra. The polester is a college basketball history museum.
That's where that game should be beingplayed at the playing in the Sixers
Arena. See, it's eighteen thousandpeople. What do they show it up?
Maybe halfway? It's like, mybest comparison would be to play at
Butler. You would want to seethat game at Hinkle. That would be

(15:24):
awesome instead of playing in the oh, whatever the name of the arena where
the in the app the Pacers playand don't forget the name of that arena.
So I'm just I'm saddened that they'renot playing in the Pilester. If
you guys have never heard been inthe Polester, if you like college basketball,
I would tell everybody to try tosee a game at the Pilester someday.
It's just it's it's a history museumof the game. Thanks for taking

(15:46):
my call. Hang up and listento your comments. Appreciate it, guys,
all right, thank you. Yeah, I think that's part of a
devil hitter up there with what Villanovaand UCLA in the other game, and
I'm sure the Sixers arenas why JohnElipari Wills Fargo Center. Plus it also
gives Aaron Bradshawn d J. Wagnera chance to get back closer to home.
And it might also be the JohnCalipari's recruiting a couple of gays from

(16:08):
up that way. I was gonnaask him was he a UK fan?
I couldn't tell by the comments becausewe just came off with talking about thirteen
in old Seasons and he jumps inhere because he don't want his playing as
the Will's Fargo Center. Well justbecause he's from Pennsylvania. But why was
he a UK fan or not?Yeah? I think he has Okay,
Yeah, I've talked to him before. I'm pretty sure. Okay, with
Larry Vouchers for you, Daniel,I apologize for white comments. Yeah,

(16:32):
he's a class at ninety alone.Come on, man, yeah, I
don't mean. You know how manypeople that are graduating Kentucky that can't stand
us. They point a good point, especially at the nineties. Man,
come on man, no man,uh, we are gonna stick to the
phone lines, and I think wehave John Short holding on. John Short,

(16:56):
appreciate you for whold on myself.Yes, sir, yeah, Jay,
thank you. We're not gonna bethirteen. It will be fifteen wins,
no losses, no times. Ilike it, John, I like
it. I like that. Ilike that are you are you going over
there September two, because it's probablygoing to be agrees, Yes, sir,
well, I don't think it'll beat the game, but be to

(17:18):
watch him and listen to it.It'd be Jim Danny can be barn Burn
every game and we're gonna win andI know so. And the Charles Grub
playoff is gonna be. We cantake you Vandonville with Georgian all mammon,
George Vans be in it for sure. That's for Sharruno, that's gonna happen.
I can take you Vandy, gonnatell you whin the whole thing?
You know, John Vandy just barelybe to wi you to start the season.

(17:41):
Oh if he Doug. And letme ask this question. Who won
a volleyball game last night Kentucky?Did? They came back and had a
really good win after losing that openingmatch. Uh Rutherford had seventeen kills I
believe it was or Yeah, andfreshman Brooklyn Delay Junior and Lamb both had
thirteen kids. Also, good bounceback for them to come back after losing

(18:03):
that opening game at Colorado State beatNorthern Colorado. Li stide there's good and
we're gonna be a picks for afive games another. Okay, John Short,
that's the that's a home opening. We're packing the stand challenge. What
is it? Yes, pack thepack the House challenge Friday night. Are
you gonna help him pack the packthe house? Uh? John Short,
I don't think so. Let itbe a good games. They canna be

(18:25):
televised or what SEC network? Itwill be televisuys yes, and you can
catch him on the if you wantto catch a radio here six thirty.
Who was good? Sounds good?I'll be ready seven pm. All right,
John Short, We appreciate you, man, And I'm gonna tell Vince.
We have Vince kind of geared upearlier talking about thirteen and oh I

(18:48):
can't really end at thirteen and ohbecause of your thirteen. No, you
gotta play another game, right,Larry's right. Yeah, So I'm gonna
got a call event Vince back andlet him know we are at fifteen and
oh yeah, we're just going on. All right, appreciate your call.
Thank you. Ah well, weare going to first. Now we're gonna

(19:08):
we're gonna hit the break first.Okay, we are going to talk track.
I promise you we're gonna talk talktrack because last time we have van
On and Larry was in studio andwhen we got off Larry, Larry gave
me a tongue lashing man because wedidn't get to talk track. When we
have van On, we didn't geta chance to talk track. He and
I don't like the negative Larry Man. I don't like the net Larry.

(19:32):
So we're gonna come back after thisbreak. We're gonna talk a little bit
track. Then we're gonna catch upwith just one thing. I want to
nit pick on basketball. That ohjust like the other guy like Daniel.
Daniel got you going. If yousee, if you're in Van, I
won't agree with that. All right, We're gonna continue this show after this.
You are listening to Stockyards Banks SundayWant to Sports Talk on News Radio
six thirty w LAP. This isStockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk, presented

(19:57):
by the lead Trip Born to RadioNow work on six thirty w LAP.
Welcome back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning SportsStark. I am Anthony White along with
Larry Vault and Van How's This hourof Stockyards Bank is brought to you by

(20:19):
a country boy. We have beentalking all things Kentucky football, Kentucky high
school athletics, and now we aregoing to transition a little bit over into
other sports. And we do havecallers. We will get to the callers
first, then we will get toLarry's grudge that he has let him hold

(20:40):
that in a little bit longer. So we take our next caller, caller,
how are you doing? Welcome Sundaymorning Sports Stalk. Hello, Hey,
how y'all doing. We're doing good. I was wanting to tell y'all
something. To high school football courtand coming to Lason and twice this year,
I want all to think about that. Yeah, they're coming to what

(21:04):
Lexton Catholic this Friday night, aren'tthey? The end of the day,
they got that Fregdon Douglas at Corbyn. Yeah, that's that. Games should
be a huge, huge game,I said, I was. I was
hoping to see Corbyn play Friday nightat Garrett Canny in the Garrett Canty Bowl
against North Harden, But the gamegot canceled because of the lightning. But
Corbyn's got a lot of starters backon both offense and defense. They've added

(21:27):
the Smith Twins, the transfers fromConnecticut, who originally from Somerset, who
are both top three hundred players.Their quarterback Kade Alam is elam and so
I think one of the better playersin the state of Kentucky that probably doesn't
get the recognition that he deserves andgot a big tight end put put Petroski.

(21:48):
Well, what is this first thing? I know his dad was Tony,
but it's not sure. I'm notsure it's gonna gonna be a high
level athletic. Yeah, if youget a chance to see Corbyn, I
think you will enjoy them. Waitingfor boil Canny again, maybe I would.
I would guess if I was pickingright now, that would be the
state championship matchups right now, Iwould think of that Class four A.

(22:11):
Y'all have a given I fifty elevenwins? All right, I appreciate it.
Thank you for the car. Ithink that Corban team is gonna be
fun to watch. Their quarterback wasexciting, the running back is exciting.
And plus I still think we getin the twins. Larry, I do
too. So I do too.I won't see what we got. I
remember he's starting Jared's faith it's Gerard. I want one of the first one

(22:36):
of the many that miss pronounced it, so make sure we get that correct.
I don't know who, uh whomixed it up. It mustn't bean
you who mixed it up. Ithink most of us still because he's spelled
j E r O D. Untilyou talk to him, he just thought
it was Jared didn't. He waspretty polite and didn't really correct many of
us. And I had a chanceto talk to him recently and he just

(22:57):
said, by the way, it'sride, what do you mean? And
so okay, I we did geta tweet Larry. I don't know if
you can make a little bit moresense of it, but it seems sympathetic,
so I did not. I donot know. I'm kind of in
the dark like you. Little dudeFindley, little dude birthday is today and

(23:23):
Finley's favorite color is purple, andthey want to keep his memory alive.
So us at Sunday Morning Sports Talk, it was gonna wish uh Finley a
happy heavenly birthday. And if youhave the opportunity to go outside today or
you want to represent, wear thecoupor purple because that a little dude's favorite

(23:47):
color and we are representing for littledude Larry. Okay, that sounds like
a lovely tholf, all right,And following that, we're gonna follow up
with Larry's grumpiness, not just observation, all right. Observation is fine,
and I just don't like that everyyear it seems like during the high school
football playoffs that Kentucky basketball plays italmost every Friday night. They got a

(24:12):
game Friday November the tenth game FridayNovember seventeenth, Friday November the twenty fourth,
And I mean, I know there'sdifferent reasons for it, maybe sometime,
but could you play at least oneof them on a Thursday or one
of them on a Sunday or somethinglike that. And just I know you
don't play on Saturday because the UKfootball is playing, but this seems like,

(24:32):
you know, if it's being afootball state like it is, you
could stay away from that. Butthat's just a little nitpicking thing I have.
It probably doesn't impact at ten. It's a lot. But if you're
just kind of a casual fan andyou have your choice, I can stay
home on a November night and watchUK basketball on TV, or I can
go on out to the high schoolfootball game. I think it probably hurts
a little bit. But that's justnot a little little pet peeve Ben does

(24:57):
that? Does that bother you?I know, Uh, I don't know
how big of a a city, football city, Baton Rougees or the state
of Louisiana in general. But Larrydoesn't like the UK basketball is having games
on the same day that the highschool is trying to culminate their season with
people becoming champions. Well, Imean, I will say this, the

(25:19):
real football fans that's two early itseems to be worried about basketball. If
we had the state championship game, you are not going to the Kentucky versus
East West Centenary College at ruh.I'm just I mean, if you're a
true football state, that game needsnothing to you. You just watch it

(25:41):
on tape the leg or or watchit on YouTube. There's no way I'm
missing the state championship football game.Well, maybe maybe that's why I need
to approach it. Then then actuallyit's hurting UK basketball going school football playoffs.
Okay, I think I'm gonna changemy thinking on man, Okay,
don't mind. So when we seethose early season attendance figures that maybe the
games aren't sold out, now Iknow why. Okay, thanks man,

(26:03):
Okay, I feel better now.And we are efforting to find out where
Jack the pilgrim is at. Idon't know if he's in the ice bath.
Maybe Jack gave him forty over there, so maybe you know he's iceing
his arm. I ain't no telling. Well, he's not as fast as
Alexa Holmes of the UK tracks. We won't be able to find Jack quite

(26:25):
that quick. But Van, whenwe're talking about track, that the anchor
leg that Alexis ran in the WorldChampionship and the is it the mix four
before the officialty? That was amazingHow she chased that that runner down and
won that event. Yeah, thatthat was as as the race progress.
And Matthew Bowling didn't give Alexis aleague. I just knew I would have

(26:49):
put everything on empty Ball would havecame away beating Alexis Holmes to the to
the Finns nine. Empty Ball hasa much better flat pr somebody. This
race is over. But here's thething, and that's why I tell all
my sprinters, the Mari Relay isa different race. I know you guys
hate running repeat two to three hundredsor whatever, but the Mari relay,

(27:14):
you are not running up for her, You're racing the person in front of
you. And with having that thatthat target on Fimpty bowls back. I
think propel alexis to her pr andthat's what's so great about track man is
is you can also come out ofyourself and do things that you didn't think
possible. And for her to splitus up forty nine to bring that gold

(27:37):
medal to the to the country,it was amazing. Yeah. The then
unfortunately she found women get disqualified forbad baton exchange. Yeah, that was
uh. You know, sometimes insports you can you can not have that
that focus, and I think that'swhat happened to her is that that was

(28:02):
a heat race and all we wantto do is bring up a ton of
around and all she had to dowas just stop. It just advanced.
All she had to do was stop, and I think her focus wasn't quite
there, and when she hit thatthat rail, I think it threw her
off. And once once that happened, she lost I guess space of where
she was and that was just thatthat hurt more than the adulation of winning

(28:26):
the gold medal, because she alsolet a team down in the finals.
I don't think there was no chancethat we were not gonna win a gold
medal. Yeah, so she wouldhave came should have came home with two
gold two gold medals exactly, andnow only two gold medals two gold medal
ward fees too, because she's anice little bonus when you win that World

(28:48):
Championship gold medal. Oh yeah.I tried it with with my amateur knowledge
and amateur experience as a track run. How do you mess up a handoff
on the four by four. It'snot the four by one. Were you
trying to maintain speed focus? Ithink I think that's right, right,
It doesn't I've I've personally never seenit happen. But if you watch the

(29:11):
race, she she was in laneone when the income and runner came,
she hit the rail. And whenshe hit the rail, I think she
lost where she was on the track, and I think that threw off mentally
and that's why she rent out thezone. And uh, speaking more of
I thought we had several people metalin the in the world. Yes,

(29:38):
champions, yes, if if youknow how I kind of I don't like
in football hall some teams say weare quarterbacked you and then we are linebacker
you and all this stuff because it'sall in a space of time. Sometimes
right five years you might have themost linebackers drafticks at her, but Kentucky

(29:59):
is a fish. The hurdle youand the reason why I'm comfortable saying that,
especially on the women's side, wehave the NC double a wanted Me
to hurdle record, where the indoorNC double a hundred meter record because New
Jip broke the record, but itwas at altitude, So those are two
records in college. Sydney has toform your meter record in college in the
pro ranks, and we had threehundred meter record outdoor until after some broken

(30:26):
last year, so we almost hadthe record in every hurdle event for the
women's until last year World Championship. And this year we came away with the
silver and bronze and the wanted Meto hurdles with Camacho Quinn and Kenney Harrison,
and then Daniel Roberts won the bronzeand the one ten hurdles for the
men. So if Sydney would haveran to forging me to hurdles, we

(30:47):
would have won that too. SoI don't can anybody say we are officially
hurdle you and why so why youdidn't run hurdles at UK instead of playing
football, and that way we wouldn'twet. I don't have had that one
in ten season, the honest aspect, I never because no, no,

(31:10):
because I was supposed to run Ihad the option to running track when because
track is really my favorite sport. But when I came to Kentucky I was
supposed to be red shirted. Iwas also seventeen, So that's how all,
yeah, we're gonna red search youwell doing sprint don fall camp?
Like nah, well, we're gonnastress that you gotta play this year.

(31:32):
So during spring I went to coachSmilt and said, Coach, am,
I still gonna be to run trackin the in the springs, Like nah,
as you gonna have to play springfootball because you have a potential of
being a starter next year. Sothat's why I didn't run track. Okay,
that makes sense if you wanted tenand everybody should have a chance of
being a starter. I'm just playing. So do you think Jack Pilgrim started

(31:56):
on his fantasy thing? We're aboutto were gonna find that? Oh,
Evan, I think you got Jackover there, don't you? Jack,
I, Jack, you are probablysomebody who could have played on that nineteen
ninety five football team. Or howdid you do? How did you fare
today? Jack? Four? Ithouldn't You're right because I came four Jack,

(32:22):
how'd you fare today? So itwas it was a rough one.
We uh just just point point bank, point blank period. Our team is
not good? Are are reserves notvery good? I personally, I think
went to like eight, eight andsix today. It was an okay day
on my end, but just notnot a whole lot of help there.

(32:45):
And uh yeah, oh and fouron the weekend, it didn't win a
single game. My record of backto back championships here at this event was
was a catastrophic disaster this time around, No no three peat. So you
were a starter, I'll tell you, yeah, Yes I was. I'm
the I'm the ultimate. I'm theultimate hard screener, put back specialist,

(33:08):
knockdown mid range jumper here or there. But we we had a bad injury
on Day day one where our seconddraft pick ended up going down down for
a season ending injury. So westarted out at a disadvantage, and unfortunately
it was The results followed as aboutas well as you'd expect, Jack,

(33:29):
But weren't you probably the youngest guythere? Should you wore those older guys
down? As the weekend went out? True? Oh, I do.
I throw my weight around, throwmy muscle around. And I had several
people say that they're not used togetting, you know, banged and thrown
around like the way that I was. So I was proud of that effort.
But you know, I'm not aI'm not a I'm gonna go hunt

(33:53):
for my shot type guy. I'ma I'm a facilitator. I'm the the
the gluke. I'm the ultimate gluke. But unfortunately, when there's not a
whole lot of scoring on your team, glue doesn't help a whole lot.
When it's a that your your wholeproject is falling apart, you need more,
a whole lot more than glue. You are aware you almost got the

(34:13):
trusty intern Jake arrested, right wouldhe went over the arena looking for you?
He went over the rop arena lookingfor you to get we're at the
Joe Craft Center. It would havehelped us to know that we're hoping they

(34:34):
While sorry, Jack did make thathappen. And if you guys could all
pitch in. Let's go fund me. We need to get uh, we
need to get Jake out Jack.If you got extra, some extra chips.
We need to get Jack Jake outman, because yeah, they detained
Jake and we got to finish theshow without him. Well happened. What

(34:57):
happened? I didn't even know thathe was trying to come. I find
he went over there to get footage. He starts checking the doors at Rupp
Arena, shaking all the doors, and uh, he wants to tell you
himself. I think, no,we don't hear you, so you don't
have So he went checking doors atRupp Arena and uh, they've seen a

(35:20):
guy, just a guy, youknow, you know what Jake looks like.
So he looks suspicious. He checkingdoors and they asked him to promptly
leave, and they promptly escorted himby there. He was unscathed though no
no hairs on his head were harmed. He tells how to reach out to
me. He could have hit meup and I could have directed him,
but it would have been down thestreet. It would have been inconvenient for

(35:43):
him. But it's all good.I apologize, Jake. It is no
problem. We are gonna come backand finish this show out to these last
ten minutes. You are listening toStockyards Banks Sunday when a sports talk on
news radio six thirty LAP. Thisis the home of the Wildcats. Six
thirty WLAP. Welcome back Stop YardsBanks Sunday Morning sports Talk. I am

(36:13):
asking me White along with Larry Vaught, Van Hives and Jack Pilgrim trustee.
In turn, Jake and Evan onthe ones and two's Bow Big Blue Bow
has the day off. We gottaget around the horn really quickly because you
know this is a heart break andonce this show is it's over. There's
no more of this. So beforewe get up out of here, Jack

(36:36):
Pilgrim. Game day is Saturday, now Friday, packed the pack the house,
volleyball coach Skinner in them. Butthe next day ball State comes to
Fayette County to see our cats. What do you need to see? What
are you looking forward to see? Now? Either one what you need to
see or what are you looking forwardto see? Him? I want to

(36:57):
see a win. I want tosee seven remaining upright, and I don't
want to see a lot of creativityon Liam Cohen's part. I want him
to say, is Vanilla is humanlypossible to just kind of get us to
the Florida game and he can actuallyunleash the beast, then that's what I'm
looking forward to. I think Ithink we're going to kind of kind of
kick the can down the road untilthe real stuff and the SEC play and

(37:21):
van do you expect us to sayVanilla? And what do you need to
see? I think everybody's most interestingon what you need to see and what
do you expect to see? WhatI need to see is I need to
see the old line improvement. Ineed to see this kicking game improvement.
Those are the two things I think. If we can improve an old line

(37:42):
and improve in a kicking game,I think that goes well for the rest
of the season. And you havea problem with us not being in Vanilla.
Are you with Jack that I don'tshow nothing. Let's just come in
a strong arm. If if weare Vanilla, that means the progression of
all all fence is not very good. If you can't show some creativity earlier,

(38:06):
that means you have really no creativitslike having two starting quarterbacks. You
know what I'm saying. So Idon't think you have to stay totally vanilla
because hopefully, like Eddie Graham usedto do, each week, the playbook
opens up a little bit more.So I would like to see some excitement.
I'd like to see some big plays. It's kind of like what Liam
did the first time around in thefirst couple of games, and we saw

(38:29):
some over routes from from from oneday, then a couple of screenplays that
went big. So that's what Iwould like to see, some excitement.
But I gotta see that old linein that kicking game though. That's those
are the two things that heard uslast year. Larry will quick before we
get up it. What does theold man have to see? Well,
I gotta see this with Vince Merro, this till man. This is said,
remember one game at the time, buddy, and we have a good

(38:51):
team. So I'm good. Hey, if you got Vince Merrill texting you
on your personal phone, not yourwork for your personal phone, you are
that, do Larry Vaught? Youare him? Events is just a good
guy. Yeah, he's him too, all right. When we have concluded
this show, I appreciate everybody forjoining. I appreciate Larry Vaufer coming to

(39:12):
town. Jack Pilgrim, finally catchingback up with us. Van Hoy's Central
Standard times on getting up early andhanging out with all day, Jake alluding
the security to make it out ofCentral Bank Center to get back over here
to us safely and uh Eving forkeeping us on the show. Thanks a
big Big Dog Events and Jillian TackettGo Cats pack the house. September one

(39:37):
at Reperta, We are out ofhere, just the Stockyards Bank Sunday.
