the first thing you should have thought. Of, WELL i
just it is disrespect for your right BECAUSE i, mean
eventually we're going to have you in The hall Of.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Got how you?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Doing good?
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Money i'm.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Good finally made it back. Over how long have you been?
Speaker 4 (00:48):
BACK i would say it's been like four weeks now.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
And it's a lot warmer here than it was.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Over it's so much nice.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Now now over is home In. Australia, Yes so that
was that your first time to be home in a.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
While NORMALLY i go home that time every, Year so,
yeah it's been ABOUT i guess nine, months ten months.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Okay, so and as you were telling, us your cold
In australia and our cold In kentucky are still quite
a bit. Different your cold back home is not like.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Zero, no and what months do you? Have what months
do you have the hot light here In, australia.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
We have It, November, December, january, Okay so just complete opposite.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
There so when we're having the, cold they're having the.
Warm and when we have the warm the.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Cold.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Huh most people go To florida for the, summer you go.
Home so last year's, Season i've got a whole lot more.
FAMILIAR i hadn't been WATCHING uk basketball Since Mickey, demos
which you may not know who that, is but that's
that's way. Back but you, Guys Coach brooks and you
(01:56):
guys brought a lot of. EXCITEMENT i like watching you
shoot the long ball because you, tall you averaged were
you averaging like ten and ten most of the season
you kind of dropped down to about eight and, eight
but we can count on ten rebounds to ten points
for you knocked down a couple big. Shots BUT i
became a fan last. Year how was the season for
you last? Year first first year In. Kentucky, yeah the first.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Year, obviously it was different coming FROM juco into THE Sec,
conference so that was kind of a big. Step but
it was just so much. FUN i just loved every.
Minute and then the fans Of kentucky just supported us
from the, start so that was really. Cool and then
the coaching staff and Coach, brooks, like he's just an
amazing coach and just he helped me improve And i'm
(02:37):
excited to see what this season brings.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Now Am did you kind of withhold some information from
those of us in the. Media were you not completely
healthy the second half of the season and just kind
of all kind of kept that to yourself further and
let the rest of us know, That.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah we. DID i was a bit, SICK i think
by the end of. IT i guess they caught it
walking PNEUMONIA.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
I, had and you kept playing through all of.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
That, YEAH i just had to keep. Going BUT i
mean it happens during during the long, season so, yeah
we kind of kept it quiet and just pushed.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
THROUGH i had walking pneumonia. ONCE i couldn't get out
of bed for ten, days and you just kept.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Playing, yeah were there any type of regimen or anything
you did like during throughout the, game throughout the week
to help, you like to prepare for that, because LIKE i,
saying once you, tired your body's. Tired and then there
was a couple of times where you look, tired but
you looked tired because you were on the courter. Lot
you didn't come off a whole, lot but Were there's
certain things you did during the game to try to
keep you loose or at least keep you in the fluid.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Motion, YEAH i, guess like halftime kind OF i guess
taking some like gatorade or like drinking stuff to HELP
i guess refuel your body to get back out there
in the second.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Half it was it is it.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Kind of like adrenaline when you're on the court doesn't go,
away or you were you fighting through it the whole?
Time like are you pushing through knowing, like Oh i'm,
tired but you're pushing through, it or was it once
you're on the court you kind of forget about it
for a little.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
While, yeah once you're on the, call the adrenaline kicks
in and you're just LIKE i just have to keep,
Going like you don't really think about it as much
because you're just thinking about the game so much, so was.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
That kind of a decision you Made Coach brooks Made
cami over, here made to about kind of keep that
quite so that opponents wouldn't know that you were not.
Healthy was that the thinking behind.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
That i'm, Honestly i'm not too. Sure it just kind
of if you're, sick you just have to keep. Going
so we kind of didn't really talk about. It it just,
okay you just had, to, yeah keep.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Going really, Now anthony used to get on me all season.
Long he worried That Coach brooks was wearing you all.
Out he was playing all of you too many minutes
that you're gonna that you're that you were going to wear.
Down you couldn't you couldn't keep up and everything like.
That playing as many minutes as what most of you.
Did was that was it as? Hard it's What anthony
thinks it?
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Is or is it no big?
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Deal playing all the minutes that you all all.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
PLAYED i, mean by the the end of, it it
definitely takes a. Toll but in the in the, season
in the, moment you really just don't think about, It
like you step on that court and everything disappears like
you're just playing the game you. Love so, yeah in the,
MOMENT i guess no one really thought about. It we
just wanted to win and just wanted to keep the season.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Going AND i kind of, imagine OR i kind of
wondered where practice is like with like You key And,
Strack like you guys were just just mountains down, there
like making it tough for people to make. Shots you
and you actually all three of you can play outside
of the, lane but you're all. Tall you seem taller
on the court than you do in real, life and
you play bigger than. That LIKE i, said you get
(05:38):
you get.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Rebounds, well she's the tallest person in the room right.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Now Well i'm just, saying but for her, game because
she can play, outside like it's kind of a stretch
her And tiany, Both AND i just kind, of you,
KNOW i think practice will be fun because you guys
are all getting, rebounds you guys are all being really.
ACTIVE i just wonder what kind of what practice is
like with with you Three.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Normally like we go into practice and we all like
everyone rotates between every, Position like so, say like we're
doing a drill and there's like a guard and the
two posts in, there but we all rotate between all
three of. Them so it's just it's just so fun
to see that we can all just be on the.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Outside do, you, uh do you do you practice against
or are you all on like five on? Five, like
are you And key And strac all no noise on
the same? Team or do you go Against key or
do you go Against? Strac what do thatose? Competition? Like
are there am or times there a practice where you
compete against those?
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Two, no normally we play against the practice. Guys, OKAY
i mean here and. THERE i think maybe a couple
of times we played against each, other but, yeah normally
we're we play against the practice guys and we're all
on the same.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
TEAM i was, Wondering, LARRY i was just kind of
wondering what that was like Because Jess sinetderger AND i
never really get went against each other a whole lot
maybe spring here and, there but it was like when
you go ones against ones in, football somebody, loud they
don't care that.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
You they team made. It that's WHY i wanted what
it would be like you guys going against each. Other
was it clawing and? Scratching?
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yeah, NOW i mean we're talking with to me hazard
or THE uk women's basketball team and be a senior this.
Year you were kind of sneaky last, YEAR i, thought
because coming out of the junior college. RANKS i think
in my mind, ANYWAY i just envisioned you were going
to be And i'll see you could come up here
and really shoot the. Ball you're gonna be a three point.
Shooter you just run down the court and kind of
put up those, threes have a big. Time but then you,
(07:32):
know by the time the season's, over you're you're in
the top ten in the league in block, shots WHICH
i wasn't, expecting which is obviously a mistake on my.
Part you were in the top ten or fifteen in
rebounds along with your three point. Shooting so is that
just always been if you just always been that versal
of a PLAYER i can do all those kind of,
things or that kind of change once you came over
(07:53):
to The United states to. Play, Yeah, SO i.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
MEAN i would say throughout my, whole, like gess, career
that's been. HAPPENING i definitely have had an eye for.
REBOUNDING i guess a few coaches would, say so that's
kind of just sticked with, me just going after the
ball and getting those. Rebounds but, then, yeah block. SHOTS
i guess it has kind of come a long. WAY
i guess you could say because coming here and being
(08:19):
a part of like the strength and conditioning definitely helps
like the reach to be able to jump up and
block those. Shots SO i think it definitely has improved
since coming.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Here so In, australia did you grow up just playing?
Basketball did you play some other sports when you were?
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Younger?
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Yeah SO i did, PLAY i guess a lot of
sports WHEN i was really. Young SO i played like,
CRICKET i think for a couple of years WHEN i
was a, kid and THEN i started actually doing rhythmic,
gymnastics WHICH i really, love LIKE i wish it went,
further BUT i THINK i was getting a little too
tall for.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
That so, yeah you're kind of tall for a, gymnast aren't.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
You.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, Okay and THEN i guess.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
The other the main SPORT i played was netball.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Netball, yeah, okay tell us a little bit about what
do you know what netball?
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Is? Anthony, no she didn't say. Footy i'm just happy.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
She, okay all, right so tell us a little bit
about what what is?
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Netball so netbles like, basketball except you're allowed to dribble
and there's no backboard on the.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
RING i Thought i've seen that. BEFORE i Think i've
seen the picture of. That so it's just a basket
sitting out in the. Middle are you shoot it like
a basketball as?
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Well, no you shoot it like closer and it's kind of,
LIKE i guess more touch on.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
It oh the wonder she could shoot the. Ball there's
no backboard or.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Nothing, Yeah so what ages.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Did you do?
Speaker 4 (09:36):
THAT i did it UNTIL i actually came over to the,
state SO i was probably around twelve to like maybe seventeen.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Sixteen, Okay so do you think it Is anthony? Right
is that what has made you such a good?
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Shooter you?
Speaker 4 (09:51):
THINK i guess it definitely. Helped probably took my mind
off basketball and kind of played multiple, sports WHICH i
mean always.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Helps and you Don't you said you don't, dribble so
you just passed the ball until you get close enough
or you can? Shoot can you do Like Steph curry
just like shoot from far? Away obviously the closer the,
Better but can you shoot it from far?
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Away you?
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Can?
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Yeah can people block?
Speaker 1 (10:12):
It?
Speaker 4 (10:13):
Yes? Huh you have to stay like three feet away,
okay and LIKE i, mean if you jump up you
can block people's.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Shots, Okay so is that a very popular sport In australia.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Then, yes for girls, mainly but it is coming along
for boys as.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Well, okay so you're playing rugby or anything not?
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Rugby my brother, played BUT i did do a little
bit OF afl.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Rules is that WHAT georgi talking?
Speaker 4 (10:44):
About georgia talks about.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
You, okay, yeah so so did you like?
Speaker 4 (10:47):
That? Yeah that was. Fun, yeah it was good.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Fun played against the.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Boys, no it was like a girl's, competition girls. Competition,
okay so we played against each. OTHER i did. THAT
i think for a. Year it was pretty fun. That.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Now georgia kind of Insulted anthony when she was in
here with us because.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
She didn't kind of.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Downright she talked about how The australian rules football was
a lot tougher Than american. Football they had it easy over.
Here they just rested in between plays and. Stuff but
you kind of feel the same, way definitely think the same.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Thing. Wow it's because like you have pads and there's
so many stoppages in the. Game.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Wow So i'm just, Saying, anthony they don't just mind
coming and disrespecting.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Anybody, wow well you want to be? Honest oh, absolutely this.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Is that's why we do the. Show but that is
the second. Person how don't you think about? IT i
guess it kind of. Is but, YEAH i GUESS i
really don't have an argument before you want to break,
bones y'all break a lot of bones and. Stuff we
break bones over.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
HERE i, mean, yeah there is.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
A few, bones like they jump up to get marks
on people's backs and. Stuff.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
HUH i to think about.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
It we're gonna take a, Break, Leary, OKAY i gotta
re Refocus. Jazz we will continue to show you this
one after this. Break, well you're listening To Stockyards Bank
Sunday winning The Sports talk on news radio six THIRTY.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Wlap this is the home of The wildcats six thirty
w l A.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
P welcome Back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports. Talk I'm
Anthony white along With Larry vaught and still joined By Amelia,
HASSETT Uk Women's Basketball Senior Ford this, Uh Stockyards bank
is your trusted partner since nineteen hundred and, Four so
(12:37):

banking and financial. Needs if you would like to join the.
SHOW i can't keep you the. Number, today you can
join the show eight five nine to eight zero two
two eight. Seven that is eight five nine to eight Zero, Cats.
Amelia so this year's coming, In LIKE i, Said i've
became newly invested to women's basketball with you guys And
(12:58):
brooks coming, in AND i thoroughly enjoy watching you guys.
Play last, year The boss spent a lot of time
In george's hands because that was probably the best option
to getting you guys into whatever sets or opportunities for
you guys to score. Points is this year is going
to change because you, know you guys probably having more
experience Under brooks And george is no longer.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Here does it?
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Change is it gonna go through the big? Three we'll
call you guys to be. Three is it gonna go
through you? All or is it still gonna be a?
Point is That brooks thing is point guard heavy?
Speaker 4 (13:27):
OFFERS i think it could. BE i guess nearly the,
same but probably a little different now That george's. Gone
but we have got another point guard coming. In obviously
she's a, senior SO i think having her we'll definitely
having her experience as well would definitely help bring the ball.
Out but, yeah, HONESTLY i guess we haven't really started
(13:49):
team practices as of much, so but still kind OF
i guess learn each other a little bit through watching
individuals and all those, workouts so we'll see see what. Happens.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Now intrigues me about this. SEASON i, mean she had
two players last year THAT i think Coach brooks was
counting on a lot In Jordan obie AND i don't
really KNOW i col Her domy BECAUSE i don't, KNOW
i don't know how to pronounce the full, name is It? Perova,
okay tell us a little bit about them just from
what you've observed from being, around about what they're going
to bring to the team that we didn't get to
(14:21):
see last.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Year, yeah both of those players are going to bring
so much for. Us so super excited to see what's
going to happen with. Them but, yeah they're going to
bring a. Lot obviously they're physical and obviously DOM i
heard she's a great, defender So i'm excited to see.
That and Then, Jordan, yeah watching her in practice in her,
individuals she's just she's a great, player so Was.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Jordan the potential is she a point guard type player
or more of an off guard OR.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
I think she's more of an off, guard but she
can also go down there in the post because she
is a bigger body in. There so, yeah it'll be exciting.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
To see what she.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Brings so does your role changed any this?
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Year you?
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Think talking With Coach, brooks you said quite, similar playing
inside and out the three four. There so, yeah just
excited to get on the floor with or all the.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Girls it's because you guys seem so versatile and the
LIKE i, said even at your, height being able to play.
Both who on the team do you guys say, no
you cannot shoot three? Pointers or Does brooks allow everybody to?
Shoot because Even clara can't, shoot they allow. Her is
there anybody in your team that they say no everybody
grab their head when they's about shoot a three?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Pointer, um, no.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
There's not no. One he he encourages. EVERYONE i think
before practice we do a drilline it's Called, princeton and
we're all out there shooting threes as a post group
and a guard. Group AND i remember we had our
first team practice and we Did princeton And he's, like,
Okay so whoever gets the highest score doesn't have to
run or like do do something and the post group
(15:55):
one by one. Point so oh, Wow, yeah we can all,
shoot so it's it's.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Exciting so so are you the best shooter on the.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Team oh, GOSH i think we have some really GOOD.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I, said don't be. Modest don't be modest.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
Here, HONESTLY i think we have a lot of good.
Shooters SO i feel like all of us together we
can be the best shooter as a, team best team.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Shooting, okay now you have one freshman coming in And Kaylen.
Carroll what is she going to add and does that
help with more depth on the inside and offer you this?
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Year, yeah it.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Does having, her SHE'S i guess she's one of the
most funniest people That i've. Met she has an outgoing.
Personality so just having her presence out there and her
being able TO i guess learn from Like clara And
tianni and it's just, yeah it's really good to have
her out there and it will definitely provide some depth
(16:46):
for that for.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Us and who is coming to this.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Year, obviously to, me it was pretty obvious who the
who the leader of the team was last, year AND
i think That brooks likes to have, that have that
leader on the floor so we can translate the game
through the people on the. Floor doesn't have to stop
the game as much because he plays you all forty
minutes a game, Anyhow so who is the who's going
to be the, Leader who's probably the person everybody's going
(17:11):
to look to what times get rough or Who's brook's
gonna yell at first when the team's not do what
they're supposed to.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Do, YEAH i THINK i think this year it's going
to be a few a few of the girls being that.
LEADER i THINK i guess Having tony in the point guard,
position she will obviously be there kind of translating what
Coach brooks wants for, us and then just having like
the experience of Like tianni knowing exactly what Coach brooks,
(17:37):
wants and then Obviously clara being with him for her
thirty year. Now SO i think it's definitely going to
be a little bit of everyone kind of stepping up
in their.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Roles what is there With Coach brooks that resonates with
international players so? WELL i mean with you you Got?
Elsa is it Ved fords coming in this year From? Sweden,
yeah Obviously georgia Was. Australia you've got another commitment out
Of canada coming in for next.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Year.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Dom what is there about international players that resonates so
well with Coach brooks that makes you all want to
play for?
Speaker 4 (18:11):
HIM i think just his culture and him as a. Person,
honestly he is such a normal, Guy like you just
talked to him and he's just a regular. Person you
don't really think of him As Coach, brooks but then
you get down on the court and he's just a,
yeah HE'S i don't even know how to explain, it
but he just really draws you, in and just having him,
(18:32):
there knowing that he has your, back draws you. In and,
YEAH i guess he likes his internationals knowing that they
playing back. Home we don't Really we like to share
the ball a, lot and that's kind of what he
does here as. Well.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah, Yeah georgia kinda told us she Had american players
were selfish or thanks the way she, well that's the
way she ordered, It. Anthony that you, KNOW i don't
think she meant that as a terrible, thing but just
that you all just were used to passing the ball
a lot more so obviously.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
You agree with.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
That, Yeah, DOUDE i definitely.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Agree and they played football without past they.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Got, yeah they're a lot, Tougher so they're, bore they're more,
unselfish and they're.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Tougher before we go to, break who's your favorite coach
on the?
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Staff, OH i would have to Say Coach.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
Brooks.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Yeah if she wants ask her who her favorite assistant coach, today, well, yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
That's kind of WHAT i. Meant who's your favorite?
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Assistant that's a hard. QUESTION i feel LIKE i like
them all, Honestly like this is the. TRUTH i Like. Josh,
yeah he's. Cool he when my when my dad came,
Over coach p was, LIKE i just love your. Dad
his accent is just so.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Good so you don't who do you spend the most time?
Speaker 4 (19:38):
With Coach chicks is my?
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Position Coach, okay.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
So Coach, hicks you're her. Favorite and we had Coach hicks,
on didn't? We, yes we that we did have her

the way to go get a sweet treat and we're
JUST i guess talking in the whole thing and just,
yeah SO i.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Guess that'll be up ON Uk athletics and then maybe
released on social media AND i also will be looking
for that this. Week And gamby that's That's Gabby. Brooks
that's how hard is it to be the coaches daughter
and be on a. Team do you all ever complain
to her about what her dad's making you all do
or ask her for her dad's crazy or anything like,
that or do you avoid doing?
Speaker 4 (21:24):
That? NO i THINK i think she complains. Too in
the locker. Room it's kind of like A i guess
you can call it a safe space where we will
just talk and just everything is set in that locker.
ROOM i don't know what hasn't been, said but, YEAH
i mean no one really thinks about. That it's just
kind OF i guess he's a coach out on the
court and, yeah they separate it really, well so she.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Might just get as upset with him as you would or. Something, yeah, Exactly,
Okay well that would be.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Interesting so what does she call Them, Brooks Kenneth, kenny?
Dad what does she call?
Speaker 4 (21:56):
THEM i, mean she does call him, dad but Coach.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
BROKE i, guess, yeah, okay that's. Good so one THING
i also want to ask you about your journalism, major
which we don't always see in a lot Of DIVISION ie.
Athletes what made you want to be a journalism major
and kind of what kind of future aspirations do you?
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Have, yeah, SO i guess being involved in college, sports
like college, basketball it definitely you kind of see all
these people interviewing, you like all THE espn people sitting
at the table and THE sec, network and it just
sounded really cool to me to see them, there like
doing what they do with the, sport and it just
(22:38):
made me intrigued in what kind of goes on behind
the scenes a little. Bit and then, YEAH i, thought
why not try and get into that after basketball is?
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Over and, yeah so you're talking more like the broadcast
journalism versus the writing. Part, okay, okay so maybe you
might want to be a writer. TOO i wasn't, Sure
but so if you kind of apple any kind of,
thing are you just kind of observing all that you
can of the networks and different, People, yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Just, observing trying to make a few connections in the
sense and just seeing where it takes. Me.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Really, now you hosted AN sec network episode last, year
kind of giving the scouting report for a. Game that's
something we might see you doing more of this.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Year.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
YEAH i thought that was kind of a cool thing
to see me up there outside of. Basketball but, yeah
maybe hopefully it can happen again this. Year it would
be really.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Cool what was the toughest part of?
Speaker 1 (23:33):
That was it something easy came natural to, you or
were you nervous or what was the toughest part of?
Speaker 4 (23:38):
IT i would definitely SAY i was a little, nervous
but being able to have a few. RETAKES i didn't.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Know you took retake okay.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Versus here what comes out comes?
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Out?
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Right?
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Bo a doctor up some of the, things but bo always,
says don't worry About i'll take it. Out but people
still listen on the regular, airways which it's already out.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
There.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Yeah, now if you go to the podcast Or iHeartMedia
radio with you have The iHeart.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
App, NO i, DON'T i don't have to get.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
It good.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Answer good. Answer so you've got a future in this,
field say that's what you got to be able to.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Do that's a has been pushing at the past couple
of weeks, so BUT i, figured you, know you young
younger generations would already have that app on. There but
if people want to listen to, you you should have
had that because they can listen to us on their
phone On iHeart. App they could have been listened to you,
now but they can also go back and listen to
the podcast later on what you're telling you?
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Wrong but so do your parents back? Home do they
sometimes you use like something like that to listen to
your games to watch your.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
Games, yeah so they can watch my. Games it took
them a little bit to try and figure it out
BECAUSE i THINK i understand that WITH spn there's like
A vpn you have to, use and so it took
them a little, while but, yeah they sometimes if we
have like a TWELVE pm game, here it's like two,
am and mom and dad are both off and watching.
(24:56):
It i'm like And mom's, like she's, LIKE i do
it every. Time And i'm, like, Well, mom you can
like rewatch, it and she's like, no because if you
text me in the morning saying did you watch the,
game AND i say, no then AND i feel a certain.
WAY i was, Like, mom it's, okay that's so early
in the.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Morning so when you went back, HOME i, mean do
a lot of people there follow you Here?
Speaker 4 (25:15):
Kentucky, now, yeah a lot of people do actually follow.
Me my grandma she has like Every friday night she
gets all like her, friends like her older friends together
and they have like a wine, night and she was,
like you have to, come like they love you so,
much they need, you they need to see. You and
LIKE i go in, there me and mom go and
(25:36):
sit with them and justin and they're, like oh my,
gosh like it's so amazing what you're. Doing And i'm
like just sitting there like all these questions fired at,
me but it's so it's so.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Sweet so are they getting pictures with you and? Stuff
like fans here would?
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Too, um a little, BIT i guess they. Can they
kind of fangirl fanboy a little. Bit but, no it's,
yeah it's really. Sweet how much people follow you back home.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
And it is THE uk fans. Here did they or
did they surprise you any last year with the attention
they have on women's?
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Basketball now, YEAH i would say it definitely did surprise
me obviously hearing how not many people did follow. Them
it was more just the. Boys but now, yeah coming
back this, year even like we went and Watched gabby
And tianni get baptized there the other, day and like,
Me clara AND kk were waiting in the snow cone
line and this little girl was Like amelia AND i was,
(26:27):
LIKE i don't even, know, like how do you even recognize?
Me SO i think it's it's really cool to see
how many people follow.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Us and after games when you all usually go around
and kind of greet fans or sometimes come back out
in sound autographs and do things for. Fans is that
just spontaneous something you all wanted to. Do is that
Something Coach brooks makes you? Do is that Something camy
makes you come out and. Do how does all that
kind of go?
Speaker 4 (26:50):
ABOUT i guess just us running, AROUND i guess it
just kind of. HAPPENED i mean maybe it happened a
few years ago, too BUT i, mean, yeah we just
do it and then coming out and sign and go To.
GRAPHS i guess one day a few of us or
like the whole team went out and then now after every,
game like fans just wait. There AND i mean we
don't want to like just, leave like we want to
(27:12):
support them like they support. Us So, yeah we just
go out and sign.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Autographs have you, Noticed, anthony how much better the female
athletes aren't doing that than the male. Athletes, SEE i
don't even know what you're talking about. NOW i, Mean
i'm not talking bad in Your i'm not talking about
in your talk about. It i'm smarter today right.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
NOW i do think the guys would like. TO i
do think the guys because because now you're throwing shade
at Like Ty bryant and some of the really really
good Guys.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Jason, shade they just don't do it BECAUSE i don't
think it's because of the.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
PLAYERS i don't think it's because of the. Players, no
that's What i'm.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Saying but you just know that the men's teams don't
do that as much as what the women like. Gymnastics
SOMETIMES i think there's more people there for the autographs
and there are for the. Meats sometimes they come from.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Everywhere But i'm just now getting involved in these female,
sports and they are very they are very friend. Friendly
SO i do agree with you in THAT i never
really looked at it that. Way BUT i also know
me my playing days That i've always wanted to give
autogress IF i could because there's gonna be some day
nobody's gonna remember your name or your. Number, Larry, yeah
thirty two. Thirty glad you're in finding me.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Today.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
YEAH i played over In europe for a little, while
played football over, there kind of BECAUSE i know the time.
Difference you typically speak to your family and friends and
you're late and they're up, early or you the one
getting up early and they stay up late to. Talk
what's usually the norm for?
Speaker 3 (28:32):
You what it works?
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Best normally because my dad is out really. Early he
gets up LIKE i guess five him or, something SO
i normally talk to him when it's like nine time, here,
okay and then mom the. Same but the on weekends
it kind of works out well Because i'm just chilling
like in my house at night time and there eating
breakfast or kind of catch them when they're drinking their. Coffee.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Wow so as we get ready to the, season be
cranking up, here as you, said very. Soon but there's
been recruiting, season AND i know we can't really talk
about specific, recruits but there's been a couple of pretty
high profile commitments for The University kentucky and women's, program
and they both have talked about they want to be
part of what's being built. Here they like what's going
on here, now they like what the future of the
(29:17):
foundation that's being. Late how does that kind of make
you feel when you see highly ranked players, saying, YEAH
i want to come To kentucky now because of what
the players here are doing right, now which means what you're.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Doing.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
YEAH i think it's really cool to see two great. Commits,
obviously be you committed so, early them coming next year
is just really. Exciting BUT i, think, yeah it does
a lot for the. Program obviously knowing that the first
year That Kenny brooks Coach brooks was here and then
see it involved so quickly is just really exciting to.
(29:52):
See so, YEAH i can't wait to see what the
future holds For kentucky.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Basketball so it should be LIKE sec championship this. Year
you think that's the?
Speaker 4 (30:01):
GOAL i think after every practice we come in and
we SAY sec chance on. Three so it's been spoken out,
loud so it will, happen is.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Uh the, Landscape the landscape of college athletics is changing
and there's a lot of different things going on and
the well media wise trying to keep up with the
like the new uh the new becoming employees of the.
Universe are those things confusing to you? All or you
just go out and play basketball because you know there's
rosters shake up and there's.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Others there's other things that. Happen do you guys worry about?
Speaker 1 (30:35):
That does it bother you or change any thing about
your normal your approach to basketball or is that just
business and you let cameon them deal with it and
you're just going about business or does that affect you
guys some.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Somewhat, YEAH i think it's interesting TO i guess know
about it and kind of see how it all is actually.
Changing but, yeah once once we're out there on the,
court like that just, disappears like no one thinks about.
IT i don't even think the coach just really think
about it. EITHER i think it's more once you're off the,
court AND i, mean you have so many resources there
(31:06):
to help you out along the way to know how
TO i guess take it, upon like how to know
what to do if you're caught up in a situation or.
Something but, yeah once you're on the, court it kind
of everything. Disappears.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Wow, so so tell me when you're thinking about this coming,
season what excites you the most about this.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
TEAM i think the most exciting thing is the depth
that we have this, year and obviously having the Two
jordan And dom being injured last year and then coming,
back and then a few freshmen coming in and all
the transfers coming as. WELL i Think i'm just excited
to see how we gel, together especially because last year
(31:49):
we the core of us kind of came. Back so
having that, connection having that, bond and the new people
fitting right in so, easily it's just exciting to see
how it'll all work.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Out one of the new people that a lot of
us here in the state know Is Josie. Gilbert kind
of a little bit of do everything type. PLAYER i
always thought she's the kind of. Player she's on your,
team you loved. Her if she was on the other,
team you hate. Her what's it kind of been like
with her being From louswell and coming down and adjusting
being with you guys, Now, yeah it's.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
So funny that she's From, louisville, obviously but having her, That,
yeah very excited to see what she will bring to the.
Team she's such a nice. Girl love her, like we
all get along so, Well so she just fit right.
In so just excited to see when a few more
team practices kind of come, about to see what happens.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
There what if you're talking about this increased, Depth what
If anthony got his wish and there's a lot more
players play and suddenly you're only playing twenty two minutes a.
Game Will amelia still be happy this?
Speaker 4 (32:52):
Year?
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Then?
Speaker 4 (32:53):
YEAH i think. SO i, mean playing the minutes that
we were playing last year did get a bit. Draining
BUT i think if we can all play like less
minutes and be more effective out there throughout the whole,
SEASON i think that's What Coach brooks.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Wants Did anthony put you up to saying that.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Kind to tell him? Something, Because, Uh, amelia when we
were WHEN i was at the, game it was. Electric
it was electric at the memorial Against Kansas state and
down the stretch man it WAS i WAS i was
tired of just watching what was The and so that's
why if we saved some of them forty, minutes we
saved some of them forty five, minutes and she only
got twenty three minutes worth of my mileage on her.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Legs not saying that you guys, didn't.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
But it was just so electric there was no way
you couldn't be forced to play an extra, second extra
couple of. Minutes what was it like for you all
on the court BECAUSE i was, MAN i was, TENSE
i was. Tense yeah it.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Was that game was very, exciting just one point in,
it but, yeah being out there for an extra five
minutes in the, overtime it was a lot on the.
Body but having to didn't want it to be our
last game, together so BUT i, mean things, happened but,
yeah it was definitely definitely a tough.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
One, well let's hope you get to host again this.
Year that was a lot of. Fun, yeah that was.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
Exciting it's really.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Cool and my last, question just one last. Plea then
we have to go to a break because we gotta pay.
Bills but my last question for, you what if you
got to do a promo for the for this season
with what the fans could expect for them to get.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Out what are they going to see this? Year what's?
Speaker 1 (34:23):
What what would you tell the fans about this upcoming
season about you and you And Coach brooks and the
Old ladies basketball.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
TEAM i think just versatility being excited to watch us
watch our death watch everyone else be a team play
together and just growing from lost lost. Season really JUST
i guess see what.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Happens come on and watch our ladies.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Teams, yeah season starts when's opening game. Came so it's
just a few months. Away and just a few months.
Away the Full edge will be out, soon, Correct, okay so,
okay so looking forward to.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
It come and check out the. Ladies we Appreciate Amelia
hassett for join us this. Morning we have one more,
segment but we're going to take a break and we'll
come back and close this thing out after. This you're
listening To Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports talk on news
radio six THIRTY.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Wlap this is the.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Home of The. Wildcats six THIRTY, Wlap Stockyards Bank Sunday
Oneing Sports. TALK i Am Anthony white along WITH i
Guess Larry vault because everybody has left the studio AND
i am here by. Myself we like to Thank Amelia
hassett for join us this. Morning they have a lot
(35:43):
of things going on with the women's basketball, team so
we can get over if you get a chance to
check it. Out it's high. Energy Crennie brooks has a
great brand of. Basketball the atmosphere is. Great the New
Memorial COLLEGE um is just great. Itself just a partaking any,
Event BUT i don't think you would be disappointed by
(36:03):
going to a women's basketball, Game Larry vall as well as, volleyball.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
Gymnastics YOU i, MEAN i guess.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Anything but since we have been we really had a
lot of fun in gymnastics last. Year of, course we
had a chance to get to know a lot of
the gymnasts starting when we went to the karaoke event
with them last. Year but hopefully we'll get something back
on campus and started getting a couple of them back
in studio with, us and same with. VOLLEYBALL i think
the volleyball team is going to be terrific this. YEAR
i think you just look at everything they've got And
(36:32):
i've been had a change to kind of As i've
been in the coliseum just to watch them hitting and
stuff a little, bit and they just look really. Good
SO i think they're going to be. Fun and THEN
i think THE uk women's team is going to be
really good. Again basketball Team i'm talking.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
About right, Right you think that, volleyball volleyball will be
better than twenty?
Speaker 3 (36:51):
One you think was that twenty?
Speaker 2 (36:52):
One i'm not going to say they're gonna. Better and
it was the twenty twenty season and they won the
but they won the championship in twenty twenty, One is that?
Speaker 3 (37:00):
RIGHT i count it.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Was it started with the WAY covid kind of messed.
Up but Now i'm not gonna because that team Had
Madison lilly And Gabby curry AND i mean a lot
of really good players in, there so they're gonna have
to up their game to show me they can do.
That But Brooklyn delay and some of the players they've
got and the transfers they brought, in they've got a
chance to be really really.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Good and has media been?
Speaker 1 (37:25):
SET i don't know if any of that public knowledge or,
anything just to kind of give heads up about women's.
Basketball has media day in and that stuff been set
or is that still in the works and something we're
not talking about them for football basketball women's.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Basketball, no that not any exact date it's been. Set you,
know that'll be probably Mid october something like that for
THE sec media, days and usually for the local media
it'll be usually Early october sometime For Big Blue madness.
Normally i'm warring. IT i thought what you were talking
about when THE Uk Football Media day was going to
be because they're at THE Sec media days this. Week
(38:00):
BUT i haven't seen a day for the local media
day yet.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Either what days are you? Football? On?
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Thursday the last, Day thursdays last day up A friday
was the last.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Day now it Goes monday Through. Thursday and it's a
Brutal it's brutal from a working standpoint because a lot of,
guys you've been there and you've gone through four coaches
and players On, monday four coaches and players On, tuesday
for more teams On wednesday, sometimes But thursday you're just
checked out. Mentally you've written all the football stories you
want to write for a, week so you don't have
(38:32):
quite as much attention on you On. Thursday so but
Still mark soups like a lot of people because he
really hadn't talked off. Summer SO i think there'll be
a lot of things come out there and you can
watch it all on THIS sec network and see what
he has to.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Say AND i can't remember what you said in the.
Past do you put do you put any stock in
the placement of the? Coaches uh time on the podium where.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
NO i sometimes claim they try to kind of rotate it,
around BUT i don't THINK i think they really.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
DO i think he's always last day.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Is that's what it seems to. Me that's what it
always has seemed to.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
ME i agree.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Exactly and this is going back for thirty years ago
WHEN i was the first started or forty years, yeah well,
yeah forty years ago WHEN i first started going now
THAT i think about, it but, yeah seemed Like, KENTUCKY
i always never got WHAT i considered a favorable slot
because the first two days are the favorable slots because
you've got more people there and the media people and they're.
Fresher but now with everything beat on THE sec, network
(39:28):
maybe that kind of eliminates the bias and everything gets equal.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Attention that Is Larry. Vaught we appreciate everyone for listening.
In we have to Thank Jack's Piper.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
One thank your mother for the present she sent. ME
i cannot wait to get home and put it up
on my.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
Porch i've been trying to get it to. You she's
gonna be happy that you finally got for doing.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
That thanks To Jack.
Speaker 1 (39:49):

vaff for coming in studio and joining you. Boy Thanks
