Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Stockyards Bank Sunday Mornings Sports Talk, presented by
the lead Troop Barde Radio Network on six thirty WLAP.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Welcome back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I'm Anthony
White along with Jack Pilgrim and Larry Vuck coming to
you from cloudy overcast It Downtown Lexington, Kentucky at clarks
Main Street Market Studios. Return, Refresh and refuel today at
two thirty tvt lie Familiar. We'll take on the war
(00:31):
whatever they're called Auburn's alumni at two thirty. You can
catch that on Fox fifty six. Jack Pilgrim, I don't
know if you got to watch the game Friday against
Strolls Squad. Some of the old the guys back Archie good.
One looks good. You know my homeboys from a north
side of Lexington called Dryon Lamb Bucket that's just simply bucket.
(00:56):
He can still fill it up. The Harrison Brothers have
it for guys how to play football. One has his
hand rapped up, but he's still stroking. What do you
think about the TBT? Why you were a welcome of
miles into the world and as well as watching taking
part taking in basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Well I set a very unrealistic expectation but also the
perfect standard of Kentucky basketball for Miles where he got
to see Kentucky basketball players up fifty in the fourth quarter,
press full court pressing, and you know, getting after it
in an absolute demolition. So yeah, I got we got
off to the perfect start of his BBN fandom. So yeah,
(01:38):
Miles was sitting there watching with me, and where we were,
you know, Katie was kind of in and out dozing
off and you know, after a long day of labor
and all that. But yet we didn't miss it and
we had an absolute blast.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
It's just you know, I love the event.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
It's so cool to you know, get these guys and
just kind of remember what the you know, what their
why was when they first signed with Kentucky and kind
of bring back that nostalgia and the feeling of of
you know, being wanted and being needed and having you know,
this fan base that's the most passionate invest in in
you know, all of sports, in my opinion, but certainly
(02:12):
college uh you know, college basketball, and kind.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Of get show them that love again.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Like I take a guy like Khalil Whitney, you know,
who obviously had a regrettable Kentucky career ended on a
sour note, and fans kind of turned on him because
they felt that he turned on them, like it was
a very understandable, uh you know, mutual relationship once he
decided to quit the team and you know, middle of
sec play. Uh so like it would make a lot
(02:38):
of sense for fans to view his time as a
you know, as a negative one and not really be
willing to embrace him again and all those things. Uh
but you know, kind of he apologized and kind of said, hey,
this isn't uh you know, I want to make things right.
I'm coming back to make things right with with this
fan base and and show them that, hey, you guys
still have a you know soft spot in my heart
(03:00):
and I'll always you know, appreciate you guys. And it
was just like you know, flip switch, just you know,
constant you know, outpouring of love for for Khalil Whitney,
and he got to feel you know, breakaway dunk, you know,
Ali yup slam and memorial costium. He gets the standing
ovation you know that that's what this stuff is all about.
To get that full circle moment and kind of let
the past be the past and focus on the now
(03:22):
in the future.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
Just awesome stuff.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Saying with Archie Goodwin, he got to explain himself and
why you know his year whether Kentucky gost It's first
an it and you know under John Caliperry, why that
was why fans kind of didn't necessarily love Archie Goodwin
and kind of he got to tell his side of
the story and show that, hey, I grew from that
experience and hopefully we can now kind of let the
past be the past and focus on the now.
Speaker 5 (03:44):
So just a very cool opportunity for all these guys.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
And you know, we'll we'll always take a fifty point
win to open this thing. And I can guarantee you
the whole Pilgrim household will be watching it two thirty
this afternoon.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
And Willie caldy Stein look pretty fluid. So it seems
like he's older. It seems like he's aised a lot,
but uh, he was pretty fluid. Uh moving around the basket.
Things he did during the game looked well. I got
to look into some of the interviews I've seen it
on YouTube. I got to get look on some of
the interviews of the former players. But old Bucket, like
I thought there was a dissension between Old Bucket and
(04:17):
the University of Kentucky. Dryn lamb Uh did he Did
he speak on why he hasn't returned to Kentucky in
a long time or is that just something that they're
not going to discuss. He was three from six three
or six from the uh from the arc, so he
still can fill it up.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I don't know if there was any I mean, I
think he had a you know, still going with a
solid pro career overseas and you know, kind of just
focusing on his journey and you know, just he's he's
always been kind of a character in himself in its
own right, so you know that might just play a part.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
You know sometimes like the.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Harrison Twins, they they didn't come back until they did
this time last summer, and you know, he now they're
you know, regular staples of Lexington and being around and
you know, this experience kind of reopened that door for
for them. And I think Doron Lab was just kind
of in the same boat where life got busy and
kind of taking care of himself and his family and
(05:14):
his loved ones and just kind of you know, let
you know, his time in Lexington kind of be on
the back burner a little bit, you know, focused on
the nostalgia and he'd hop on podcasts and talk about
you know, that championship team and all those things, but
didn't necessarily, you know, wasn't ready for that chapter to
be you know, reopened and you know, focusing on you know,
what what happened and how you know, he's excited to
(05:37):
be back in all those things. But he's been a
great sport. His interviews have been great, you know, talked
about how he thinks his his twenty twelve championship team
is the best to ever come through Lexington and he
kind of, you know, has takes pride in that said that.
You know, he his middle name is now Champ. I
know you're throwing the bucket bucket nickname around, but he
said his nickname is Champ, and I think that's pretty cool.
So yeah, I think I think Doron is still still
(06:00):
got it. I still love to him throwing those three
goggles up after every make and seeing him back in
blue wearing that number twenty.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
Jersey's pretty often.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Larry Vaught take away from TBT anybody you have surprised
to see back and any of the takeaways and that
fifty something point win.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
No, I don't think there's anybody surprising. I'm glad. Archie
was always one of my favorite players, and as Jack mentioned,
was pretty misunderstood because one of the probably worst decisions
that John Caliperry made when he was coaching at Kentucky
was when he turned that team over to Ryan Harrow
thinking he was.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
Going to be able to be his point guard.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
And that just was not a very good decision, and
why they didn't switch that, I mean, I'll never quite
understand that Archie had to play out a position he
had a lot of times try to make plays kind
of because there was anybody else to make a play,
kind of similar to what we tell talked about what
Jaalen Lowe had to do with Pittsburgh sometimes because nobody
(07:03):
else could score, so he had to try to score
and take some bad shots. Archie had to do a
lot of that. He get out of control, yes he could,
but still a lot of that was because he didn't
have any choice. So I'm glad to see Archie back
and enjoying himself. And I also like the Willie college
Stein approach to playing and everything you know what he's
(07:24):
doing right now?
Speaker 2 (07:25):
What is he doing.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
He's playing golf over Frankfurt Country Club this morning. Really, yeah,
they got a tournament over there, and will he's been
playing all weekend, so he's back over here to finish that.
It's a fifty four whole tournament over there. By buddy
Bruce Brown comes back and runs that tournament. He's hit
the golf coach Development University now used to be the
(07:47):
head professional there and he's known Willie for a while.
And Bruce of course is the one who tried emphasized,
tried to help your buddy Adam or with his golf game.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Willi's. But Willie's always had that rock star mentality, like
it's just you know, I guess he kind of minds
you of Dennis Robb and all the tattoos and just
high energy all the time. So I'm not surprised that
he's burning at both ends. And he's still probably he
maybe thirty by now. I don't even know if he's thirty.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
I think he's like a five or six handicapped golfer too.
Oh wow, he could play pretty well, yes, yea.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
He has to as custom made UH clubs though you're
that big You don't just use you don't just go
to Dixon just pick out clubs. You gotta get those
things extension.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
You just don't.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
You're exactly right about that.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yes, Jack Pilgrim, Uh so Marquis Warrick. I was gonna
have him on the show just because I got a
lot of friends who went to Henry Clay High School
and Warwick is the all time leading scorer, but he
did not play at the University of Kentucky. Jack Pilgrim,
what is uh, what is Quasa's connection to my familiar.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Lexington Baby, That's that's about it.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
And and I think just the value, you know, what
he did to Henry Clay and just the connection of
Kentucky high school basketball, and you know, that family is
so you know, wide and thorough. Everybody knows, you know,
everybody in KAA. And and I think that was kind
of a you know, hey, what are you doing? I
know you're you know, preparing, he said in a previous
(09:24):
interview about looking at the you know, G league options,
summer league options, what he's going to do overseas. His
agent was kind of working through all those options because
he's clearly a player, you know, dude, dropped seventeen against Kentucky,
I mean eight months ago, so the dude knows how
to play.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
He's you know, I.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Think just adding some young fresh legs was very important
to go alongside Ansley Aumanor. I think that was, you know,
one of the more underrated pickups for for La Familia
this this offseason.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
But yeah, I think just the.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Fact that he was a Lexington native and grew up,
you know, as a star at Henry Clay. I think
they just wanted to kind of put two and two
together there and add some fresh legs.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Quise, we gotta get you on here. Britney's gonna join
us at ten thirty. So that's why I kind of
nix having you both on here, because one of you
gotta get the team ready and the other one you
gotta get prepared to go for about twenty twenty five. Quast,
I need about twenty five out of you big dogs. Jack.
I was watching how good they look, and uh, we
got one of the cants and I don't one of
(10:23):
the other canters or the other canters probably extremely busy
at this point in time, but uh, do you see,
I know we're the number one seed. I know we
already Kentucky lums, do you see there being a challenge.
Do you think you're gonna breeze to the championship or
do you think there's not gonna that there's any possibility
that we don't win the championship. And I say we
(10:44):
as a lot familiar.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Oh it's all we a lot familiar where we're all
a BBN family. So yeah, they'll they'll be challenged that
there are some other you know, good lot familiar there
TVT teams, and lat Familiar is definitely among the best.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
I think they are the best.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
But you know, it's it's a winner, go home tournament,
and we've seen you know, the biggest surprises of I mean,
we just saw Indiana's team. It was the you know,
a two seed just get knocked out this weekend before
you know, just in the opening round. So we just
this happens in this format. Weird stuff happens. So you
can never just automatically pencil yourself into a championship, as
(11:22):
we've seen and you know the big show with March Madness.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
But I do think that this team.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Is younger, you know, more athletic, better defensively, deeper, more talented,
upside I think than last year's a lot familiar team
and that they were a couple of buckets away from,
you know, winning the whole thing and you know, getting
a chance to compete in the actual championship.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
So I do think that they are going to make it.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
I do think that they're going to win it just
because they I mean, they're there is we saw the
other night. I mean, it's gonna be tough to be
the team that is as deep and talented with shot
makers and defenders. I mean they were picking up. When
you have shot Wood coaching your team, you know they're
going to be hard on those. You know they're going
to be tough. You know they're going to defend. But man,
when he was having their guy's full court press and
(12:08):
with you know, up fifty points in the fourth quarter,
that was kind of when it hit me like, all right,
maybe we're going to win this whole thing.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
That was that was the difference. They just kind of
had that edge and that ins factor. I think they're
coming for the smoke.
Speaker 7 (12:19):
Hey, Jack, you kind of led me into my question
for you was how much of a difference does the
coaching make compared to last year's team With this year's team,
Sean Wood's being on the bench last year as an
assistant with Tyler Euless because Sean Woods still wants to
win more than anybody in the building.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Yeah, And I think it was a perfect kind of
test run for Tyler Eulis last summer to kind of
get his coaching feet wet, and you know, it was
a nice little stepping stone. But and again, how under
overqualified can you be for something like TVP.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I mean, it's it's a summer, you know, July basketball tournament.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
I don't know, But you can.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Definitely say that Sean Woods is certainly not underqualified and
in that regard. And I do think that, you know,
just so much of events like this is a want
to and a drive and a passion for winning. I
don't think there's going to be a massive difference in
drawing up plays and being kind of this you know,
X's and O guru at this state and something like this.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
So much of this is.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
A hey, we want it more than the other team
and just kind of you know, instilling that, like, hey,
we're going to beat the brakes off you, and we're
gonna have a lot of fun doing it. I mean,
I think that's why that fifty point win and them
getting after it and smiling and you know, kind of
just taking pride and absolutely dog walking that first opponent.
I think, does I think that's a Shawn Woods thing.
I do think that's just a hey, we're here to
(13:43):
win this thing. We're not you know. I know it's
fun with the alumni and you know, networking and seeing
all your old friends and faces back back back in Lexington,
but we have a job to take care of. We're
here to win a million dollars, and I do think
that coaching is a big part of that. In Shawn
Woods is definitely the man for the job.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
And Jack putin before we let you go because we've
got to get the break. We have bills to pay.
Are you do you schedule your breaks? Since you know
with a little miles in here, are you scheduling your
naps and breaks? Are you just getting links when you
can get them?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
We have a So Billy will go down about one
o'clock and we've Katie and we're just talking about that
because I mean we're we're running on like a combined
like I don't know, hour and fifteen minutes over the
last three days, just the timing of everything. I mean,
just getting to the hospital at one one am and
the baby not coming until four fifteen. We don't fall
(14:33):
a fleet for the very first time till probably six
thirty seven that morning.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
So I mean we're just our whole schedule is way off.
Oh yeah, we.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Decided that at one o'clock when when Billy goes down
for his nap, I think that's gonna be our We're
gonna disconnect from the world and you know, close the
blinds and turn all the lights off, and we're gonna
have the best naf of our lives. So I think
that's where we're trying. But there's no such thing as
a set schedule when you have a newborn that is
approximately I don't know, forty.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Eight hours old or whatever he is now, well, good.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
Luck with that.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Welcome to the world, Miles. We will continue this show
after this. You're listening Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Stalk
on news radio six thirty WLAP.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
This is Stockyards Bank Sunday Mornings Sports Talk, presented by
the lead Troop Boards Radio Network on six thirty WLAP.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Welcome back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I'm Anthony
White along with Larry Vaught and Stockyards Bank has been
your trusted partner for a long time. Larry Vaught, do
you know I don't even know if you listened to me,
you know how long do you know when Stockyards Bank
has become a trusted partner? If you don't, I'll let
(15:48):
you know.
Speaker 6 (15:50):
Trusted partner this show.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
No trusted partner of anyone looking to invest financially over
one hundred years ago. Yeah, since nineteen hundred them for
how are you there?
Speaker 6 (16:03):
I was just thinking of getting here.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
That is Larry Vaughda. I don't want to beat this subject,
and we will have Brittany Harris coming on at ten
thirty to talk about laphamidion TBT again. That's gonna take
place today at two thirty at Memorial. But there was
a question poseding I like our fans and our listeners
to be part of the show. So my only reason
(16:30):
I am going to submit this statement that was made
on our social media which is at Sunday Am Sports
on Twitter x formerly known as twitter X. He says,
I know a guy who's convinced that Vince Merrill leaving
UK was not entirely Vince's idea, he believes it was
part of a change of the culture. He wants to
(16:51):
know if we've heard anything about that, and do you
subscribe to that idea.
Speaker 6 (16:59):
I've heard so much about different things on vents, but
I don't I don't know exactly. I don't think anybody
really will, except him at Martin, about why I did
or didn't leave. So and I don't think that it
was designed to change the culture or anything like that.
I think the culture change was already in place, because
(17:20):
they already had a number of guys that had transferred
out and a number and a huge number of transfers
ain't already brought in. So I think the culture change
was very much already put in place, and in fact
before Vince left for Louisville.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
So I guess the bigger question just so we can
kind of dead in this subject on this show, I
think the two sides are did Vince see the writing
on the wall and decided that he wants to jump
ship before this thing sinks? Or the other side of
(17:56):
it is did Mark Stoops see the the direction of
the culture and he made the change? So I think
those are the two sides to visit side that you
know what this I don't like direction. This is going
to let me go get a new beginning and a
new jump start. Or did Mark do you think Mark
Stoops felt as if, you know, we need to go
another direction and certain people weren't good for the culture.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
I think that's a million dollar question, buddy. I think
it would probably depend on who you are talking to
as to which answer that you might get, and there
might be a little bit of truth to each side.
I mean, I don't know. It's still just one of
those perplexing things. It's really unusual to ever see an
assistant coach stayed any program for that long, especially with
(18:44):
the number of opportunities events had to go other places,
And so I think you never know all those things that,
oh they were all with good friends for an awful
long time. The event's cut it offul a lot of
credit for what was going on with the UK football
an up along time.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
So I don't know.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
I would like to just think, and maybe I'm just
naive that it was just a great business, professional opportunity
for Vince. He decided maybe that was the right time
to make a change. He just made the change, probably
asking the wrong guy because I stayed one place for
forty one years until I got fired, so I probably
don't know.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
I think it would make a great thirty for thirty,
especially when Vince when he came on the show after
you know, leaving university saying that he wanted to talk
to Mark about the situation. So I don't think either
one of them have talked to about it. It will
be a great thirty for thirty. What else is gonna
be a great thirty for thirty is Brittany Harris joined
us to talk TBT and my Familiar when we come back,
we will be back after this year. Listen to Stockyards
(19:43):
Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk on news Radio six thirty WLAP.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
This is Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk, presented by
the lead troop Forde Radio Network on six thirty WLAP.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Welcome back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I am
Anthony White along with Larry Vaught. This hour of Sunday
Morning Sports Talk is watching by a country boy brewing
and we are now. We are now glad to be
joined by director of Marketing for lat Familiar TBT. Brittany Heres.
(20:17):
Good morning, Brittany, good morning.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
How are you.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
I'm doing good. I'm doing good. Fifty points in't enough
for you all? Are you're the coaching? How you just
handled the marketing? You don't handle the coaching or anything.
Because fifty points as a whooping?
Speaker 4 (20:33):
That was wild.
Speaker 8 (20:34):
I think we are a fourteen and a half point favorite,
So it was pretty insane to get to see them
do that like that. Like even towards the end, you know,
they were really just trying to put on a good show.
They were having a great time playing with each other,
and you could really tell that the chemistry and the
energy was so much fun. Everybody had big smiles on
their face. I was asking them as they were coming
(20:55):
off us, look a are you guys having a good time?
Speaker 4 (20:57):
And they're like, yes, we're having an awesome times. They're
a great time. It was so much fun to see.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
And is it do you feel the energy or the
passionate Sean Woods or is that just something that's that's artificial,
because it seems like anything he touches and anything he does,
like you can just feel a vibration from it.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (21:17):
I mean if you ask all the players, they would
say that the energy is real.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
It's very intense.
Speaker 8 (21:24):
It really propels the team and pushes them forward every
single time that they're in a huddle, or they're talking,
or they're in the locker room. He's really running that
team and really the driving force behind everything that they do.
They really respect him, they trust the things that he says.
You can hear him, you know, coaching on the side
and really getting them into things.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
And it's been really just amazing.
Speaker 8 (21:47):
But it's very authentic and you can tell he's excited
to be a part of this team, that he really
cares about these players, and that more importantly, he cares
about the state and the city and he understands what
it means.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
And speaking of the state and you know some of
the guys, but at that return, I know we last
time we talked, I don't think we had the roster
solidified or we could really discuss it. But how how
easy or how challenging was it, because we got some
guys coming back to the state that hasn't played basketball
in this state for years, over a decade. So how
(22:21):
tough was it or easy was it getting some of
these guys returned that we haven't seen play in a
long time.
Speaker 8 (22:27):
The really the only difficult thing about getting players to
play for us is whether or not they have time.
You know, the guys that we have playing all have contracts.
They're all playing overseas, so it's about whether or not
their you know, this overlaps at their season. But when
we speak to them, you know, the opportunity to come
back and play for fans again is something that they
(22:47):
all want to do. Archie Goodwin, you know, had not
been back in ten years and so being able to
come back and play for our team, I mean he
smiled the entire time every single one of the events.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
It's it's a different.
Speaker 8 (23:00):
Feeling coming back and playing for us and playing for
you know, for them, playing for these fans. That's what
I'm playing for a lot familias. It's getting to play
for Big Blue Nation game and it's an honor for
them and they feel it the second that they step
back into the Kentucky.
Speaker 6 (23:17):
Hey hey, Brittany, somebody asked me the other day and
I really didn't know the answer. So I said, I
all ask Britney or twenty on Sunday, get an explanation
for this. When you go out and get these players
and bring these players in here are here for a
good period of time. Well, how does all the financial
resources for this work? Do players get a stipend just
(23:39):
for coming only if they play? Where do you go
an manage to get all your money to pay all
the expenses and everything that goes along with putting this
team together.
Speaker 8 (23:49):
That's more of a twenty question that you know, we
do have a lot of great sponsors that make it
possible for us to bring all these guys back to
do all these things. Davis Sports Score is just an
amazing sponsor for us. They help us do all the
things that we do. We also have a lot of
wonderful partners in Kentucky that you know, provide things for
(24:12):
the guys, like the Elwood Hotel who has been a
great hotel partner for us. You know, we have other
wonderful food partners, you know, Boondogs and Wing King and
Coke Consolidated and the Alumni Center and all of these
people together combined to really help make this possible. Afletico.
There's so many just amazing partners that we have here
(24:35):
in Lexington that help us get all these guys back
here to do all these wonderful things. Blub Blue has
been wonderful to us. We had an amazing bottles signing,
bottle signing down at the Spoken Spirits, the Kentucky Card
Shop put on a great autograph signing down at the
Elwood Hotel. I mean, there's so many people that we
could thank, and you know, they really every me and
(24:57):
twenty and all these different sponsors work to bring all
these guys here, you know, help set up all these
events and really get the players ultimately to help them
win that money.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Brettan.
Speaker 7 (25:09):
Both the autograph signing at the Elwood Hotel last Monday
and the bottle signing Thursday with Club Blue both great events,
and it was awesome to see the former players back.
Do you kind of get the sense that when they
are back, they haven't been here for a very long
time talked about Archie Goodwin. Do you get the sense
(25:29):
that they're just a little overwhelmed of the outpouring support
that the Big Blue Nation still has for him.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (25:36):
Yeah, And I think that they know it, but I
don't think that they realize like how solidified they are.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
And you know, these fans history.
Speaker 8 (25:46):
I do because I'm a fan, but it still surprises
me to get to see it. Some of my favorite
things to do are to get to see all the
fan events and get to see the fans, you know,
lined up inside the arena waiting for them to send autographs.
But at the autograph signing, that's something that's really unique
because you know, we make a poster that you can buy.
(26:06):
There are stuff some online they're signed that they can
buy the Kentucky Park Shop, but they can also bring
in a personal item. And seeing these items that people
have kept in their house that they've had made or
you know back when you could print, back when they
printed physical tickets and they had their faces on them.
They've saved these tickets inside their house for a decade,
(26:26):
just waiting for these guys to come back and sign them.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
I think I'm amazing.
Speaker 7 (26:30):
I'm sorry, I think I know what you're talking about
with the physical tickets because at the autograph signing on Monday,
I brought a ticket in that had Archie Goodwin on it.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
I mean I was amazed by that.
Speaker 8 (26:43):
I mean amazed by that somebody made individual shirts assault
their seams on it. I mean there were these big
plaques that people had designed, just really amazing unique things and.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Just getting to talk to them about it afterwards.
Speaker 8 (26:58):
I think that those things really like make it sync
into them, like how special they are. Aaron Harris's girlfriend
got to come with him this time, and so she's
gotten to really see, you know, what it's like. So
I'm sure when he's like, yeah, you know, I was
a Kentucky college basketball player, and you know, it's kind
of a big deal, I don't know if you know
(27:20):
like what that actually, you know who he is to
the fans here, So getting to see like the outpouring
of love for him, I'm sure has been just an
amazing experience.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
I showed Archie family members too, that come is really cool.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
I'm sorry. I showed Archie the ticket, the season ticket
from twenty fifteen that had him on there, and I said, hey, man,
you might have signed this for me, and his eyes
got real big and he said, where did you get this?
I told him, I said, it's part of the season
ticket packages. We get these great season tickets where it
used to with former players on them. He said, man,
I played in twenty twelve, thirteen, this is twenty fifteen.
(27:56):
I said, this is what they do. I said, image names,
you know how it goes these days, and he kind
of tapped over to Aaron Harrison. He goes man, did
you know about these tickets? Which kind of told me
that their eighteen year old, nineteen year old kids, they're
kind of left in the dark a little bit about
just how much the fans love these guys and what
(28:17):
they keep. And I had an extra ticket for Archie
and I gave it to him. I said, man, I
want you to keep this for you, but then your collection,
and he smiled and it was just a really great
exchange that I had with Archie.
Speaker 5 (28:28):
Good one.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
So hands off to the Kentucky card shop you and
twany Club Blue putting this together because it's been a
blast over the last week.
Speaker 8 (28:37):
I actually had the photographer take a photo of him
taking a photo of.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
That Okay, good good, because.
Speaker 8 (28:44):
I thought it was he was putting a photo of
it up on his Instagram. So all the guys were
taking photos of the stuff and the fans brought, so
you know, I was telling the photographers was like, take
photos of them taking photos because them getting excited about
what you guys brought was something that I thought was
really cool to So I actually just sent them a
(29:05):
link to the photo album yesterday that has like thousands
of photos from all the events of stuff so that
they can download them and save them and share them.
So they're really excited about that, and that's something really fun.
So that's really cool that you did that. I thought
that was amazing. He kept that ticket, and I know
it really meant a lot to him.
Speaker 7 (29:23):
I've been going around telling everybody my friends, Yeah, Archie
and I are cool. Now we're good.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
Yes, yes, No, that really did mean a lot to him.
Somebody made a poster for Aaron Harrison. It said Clutch
underneath it. They made one for him to sign and
one for him to keep, and he kept that. So
just know, like the players do keep these things that
you guys give to them, that you make for them.
It means a lot to them. You know, they've been
sharing all the stuff that fans tagged them in on
(29:49):
their Instagram stories. So if you take a photo with them,
you tag them in, at the chances are they going
to share it, So that I mean, like this stuff
matters to them too. And I hope the fans when
they see that, they know that we pull them away
at the end of the game so that they can
go and do the press conference, but they would stay
all night do an autographs, you know, and they try
to do as much as they possibly can.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
And Brittany, are you there tickets?
Speaker 6 (30:12):
Are tickets still available for today? And if so happy.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
There are some.
Speaker 8 (30:17):
There are some limited tickets still available for today, so
you can buy them on Ticketmaster if you They are
trying to work on the link right now. So if
you go to take a maaster and search tvt if
you buy any tickets for the games today, you get
the both games, so our game and the other game
that goes along with that game. But we play at
(30:40):
two thirty today and so you know you're going to
want to get up the last remaining tickets. It was
almost full on Friday.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
If you came, it was an amazing game.
Speaker 8 (30:50):
They put on an amazing show and it was just
a fun environment to get to see all the fans
there cheering for them again.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
I mean big blue tes and everywhere.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
We're so cool and Brittany, it seems like actually is
going to just get ramped up more and more said,
with Sean Woods being the coach, some of the guys
who haven't played in a long time, De Royn Lamb
still can fill up the bucket from deep. My question
to you is, as a director of marketing. Some people
are gonna be done July twenty seventh, so I'm be
(31:22):
done July twenty eighth, So be done July thirty first.
But the championship is August third. Are you planning? Have
you planned all the way through August third as a
as a marketing director or are you just certain things
are coming up as as the tournament progresses.
Speaker 8 (31:40):
So you know, we lan up through this week, and
so we land up through Saturday.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
And so I this is a lot of work during
all these weeks.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
So as they keep winning and that you know, I
always tell them, like you guys keep winning more more things,
give me more things to do. So as long as
they keep winning, that's what we're going to do. People
continue to reach out to us about doing, you know,
additional autograph signings and you know, having additional events. So
as long as they continue to win, which I believe
they're going to through August third, then we will continue
(32:16):
to have things going on in the next intent for
them to see the guys and.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
How could look how could anyone get in contact with
your what's the best avenue to get in contact with you?
Or twenty or whoever. As far as making sure we
have events and things that will lead up to August third,
because I expect you guys a voice of trophy on
August third.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Yes, yes, so I don't open the floodgates. You message
is up a million things.
Speaker 8 (32:43):
But if you message the last familiar TVT Instagram page,
if you're a business, if you are a food vendor
or want to have a potential event there, you know,
please message me through there. I see all those message
either through the X page or the Instagram page, and
I will respond to every single one of them. If
you are a fan that has shared something or sent
(33:04):
me a message or asked about you know how to
find the staff page or where to get tickets, chances
are I have messaged you back to so you know,
I do message everybody passed certainly.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
As much as everybody back. I can attest to that.
Speaker 8 (33:16):
Yeah, so I message everybody back. So if you have
something like that, please get in get in touch with us.
I think there are a lot of people that wanted
to have events with us this year and didn't really
know how to reach us. So that is the best
way to be able to do at those twenty And
I see all those messages and I'm usually the one
that responds back and helps set up the appointments so
(33:37):
that we can get all these things together.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Larry, you're saying something.
Speaker 6 (33:42):
Oh, I was disguised, but I think I saw that
the Harrisons have something set up with the Scott County
Humane Group next or this next weekend already. So I
assume those are the kind of things if people are
interested in your guys are going to be more than
happy to do those things.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And they also some of the.
Speaker 8 (34:03):
Guests did a signing in Race and Worthington on Saturday,
So that was kind of the last minute thing that
they got asked to do, and they.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
Were very excited to do it.
Speaker 8 (34:13):
Really, you know, getting to go out farther in Kentucky
and meet some of those fans farther out in the state.
I know that meant a lot to those fans, and
they were happy to do it. We did an open
practice at Scott County Saturday afternoon that was ten dollars
and all that money went to the Scott County Booster
Club for the Scott County Basketboys basketball program.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
So we were really excited to be able to do
that as well.
Speaker 8 (34:38):
So we're going to be doing lots of events like
that throughout these next couple of weeks until the championship.
And you know the other great thing is that the
championship will be at Memorial Poliseum afore in it. So
you know, we want to continue to win, We want
the fans to continue to fill up these events. You know,
the Championship could be you know, just an awesome event
(34:59):
here unless and the great thing for fans to do,
I would encourage you guys to go to all of
our sponsors. Go check out Winking, you know, go flyballs, flyballs.
It's been amazing to us. Go check out past the garage,
Tech Tech Lax and see some of these businesses that
you know, love Law Familia and have helped support the
guys and get them here.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
And Brittany, thanks for joining us this morning. I need
you to do me a favor because I was talking
to Quise. I was talking to Queise Warwick this week
about getting them on the show. The Larry Vaught emails
me that I actually text message you and I kind
of did not get back to Cuease, and I don't
think he realized how big our show is. So he
was asking one of our one of his high school.
(35:39):
A lumps about it because he's the all time leading
scorer at Henry Clay High School. And then I didn't
get him on because you were coming on and I
didn't want to have too much TVT time taking up.
So make sure you Letquise know that you took his spot.
You took his spot.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
No, no, you should have bumped me. He would have
been better. I don't want to have to go to it.
Speaker 8 (36:01):
I don't want that's going to be shut around and
tell him that today, tell him.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Tell him we'll get him on next week.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
Now.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
I definitely wanted to get him on, but when Larry,
I kind of want to probably get you both on
the same time. And I also knew I don't know
how his warm up is getting ready for the game.
I didn't want to bother him. He was kind of
concerned about that.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
But no, Yeah, the same day is game day.
Speaker 8 (36:21):
Is the day honestly too that you know the guys
they're locked in right right, They've got their thing that
they're doing.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
You know, that's honestly too.
Speaker 8 (36:30):
I try to do as much of this too, so
they do all the interviews up until you know game days,
and then that's it, you know then any other time.
You know, it's my job to kind of handle all
of the questions for them that way they can they
can go out and win us the championship, which is
that's what we wanted to do. So I don't want them,
you know, I want them to stay locked in and
do those things.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
So thank you guys for having me on.
Speaker 8 (36:52):
I will tell him that he will be on next
on a non game day and hopefully he's not that
he got bump and he's lost in on that, so
you know, that's what he wants to do.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
He wants to go out there and win and play well.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Thank you for all you do and appreciate you for
joining us this morning.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
Britten, thank you so much for see you guys at
the game.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
We will be back after this. You're listening to Stockyards

thirty WLAP.

the Lead Troop Forge Radio Network on six thirty w LAP.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Welcome back, Stockyards Bank Sunday One is Sports Talk. I'man
Anthony White along with Larry Vauk thanks to Britney Harris
of Live Familiar tvt for joining us Bo Robinson, The
Blues Brothers cast some TV time. Did the Blues Brothers
enjoy Did they enjoy it?
Speaker 7 (37:44):
I can tell you this, they had a blast. It's
brother Jake's birthday weekend, so I can think of a
better way to celebrate than live familia. He gave a
picture of a guy that's kind of been around the
Big Blue Madness camp out. This guy's name the Big
Blue Midnight and he took a picture when Khalil Whitney
was here as a freshman. And the great thing is
Khalil Whitney recognized that picture and he said, oh man,
(38:08):
I remember that, and he signed it and everything. So
it's been a great experience and can't wait to get
back this afternoon for more lit familiar. It's like a
family reunion, although the food is not as good.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
That is true. And you can't take and you can't
take to go place and put him in the car
right and where you sitting behind the bench. How did
the Blues brother get such a good Oh?
Speaker 7 (38:30):
I don't know how they end up doing that.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
I really don't they know somebody in the media. I
wouldn't put it past them. Two hours down. We come back,
we're gonna talk a little bit more. UK football stoop
seems reinvigorated, determine, ready to do some things. We'll talk
about that, Larry when we come back. You're listening Stockyards
