Speaker 1 (00:07):
This is the home of the Wildcats. Six thirty WLAP Welcome.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Back, Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I'm Anthony White
along with Larry Vaught and Jack Pilgrim talking UK sports,
all things UK sports. But the biggest news right now
is our cats went down to ods for Mississippi and
took one from number five old miss Rebels. The phone

(00:32):
lines are lit. You can join them eight five to
nine to eight zero two two eight seven eight five
nine to eight zero Cats on the big ass fans hotline.
You can join us. Let's get to the hotlines and
thank Jeff for holding through the break. Good morning, Jeff,
Thanks for holding through the break. What do you got
for us?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Hey them guys. First of all, I just want to say,
if Kentucky lose to Florida this Stappabunity volleyball, they forget
about winning the SEC. They've got to go on a
long winning streak now. They played one of the toughest
non conferce sketchs in the country. I watched them play
two or three times and they lost Rutherford. They were
transfer portal had lost some other people to our thing.

(01:14):
But if there right now, they're not playing as well.
Hope that they get it back together. I couldn't be
that lost to Aubron too on the road. Harbard's not
that good. Alan come they played a half the schedule
can't take you away. It was very disappointing. So if
they don't win, they can forget about the trick of
sec towns that I'll bet I'll be done if they
don't win this avenue so out. That's my prediction. Number two.

(01:35):
I don't know where you guys get these callers. I'm
telling you right now, I'm about I had it up
to here from calling this show even listening to it.
That last guy wish his name Wendell tell you his
name was Wendell. Yes, sir, he needs gonna hel help
Bull County. Don't be a room for thank you football,
so helping them? They have been lost one game with
two years. They apparently they got no more. Jacob Tammy's

(01:57):
nowhere apparently retired. They ain't got nobody played football no more.
Apparently apparently they just forgot football. But you're gonna play baseball.
I guess now whatever they do, rolle all Weather for
what they got, so lo help then win a football game.
Don't be talking about stuts. Okay, I've had enough to
hear with this stoop stuff. Okay, Larry, the play at
Georgia was fourth and eight from midfield. The play yesterday

(02:20):
was fourth and seven from their own twenty Okay, stoops.
Why he went for it is he said, well, I
could get a one on one with Brown, number one,
number two. The reason he went for it on fourth down.
Some other occasions it was one in two yards. He said,
I want to steal a possession from old Miss. That's
why he went for it. Okay, I am so sick

(02:41):
of it. We did no respect any way, period. Okay,
we're not gonna get any hen we be old Miss.
But this this, it was his business of the fourth
and eight punting business. He can't. He made the decisions
he wants to. He's the coach can take you football, Okay,
not Anthony why and you play? I'm not nothing against you,
but not at c White, nobody in the media, nobody,

(03:03):
fan base or nothing. He's the coach, not Larry from Lebanon,
not Bruce that calls in these shows, not Windoll. Okay,
so don't be back. The guy is the winningest coach
in Kentucky football history. He's the longest senior in the
SEC for a reason. They gave him time. They're not
like Auburn getting rid of somebody in two years. I mean,
we're not like that. If you want that, go root

(03:25):
for them. Go root for Alabama and Auburnd go root
for them. I don't need you. Go root for Murray State.
They gave up seventy two North Dakoty yesterday. Go go
root for them, Go windle the root for Burry Stay
or Easter or more heads. Go root for the Pioneer League. Okay,
I'm sick of it. Absolutely. I don't even want to
call his show anymore because I'm up to here with it.
I'm about I mean, I wish I had come through

(03:45):
this telephone and find them brick cars and beat their
bruk down.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
No, Jeff, thanks for the call. Thanks for the call, Jeff.
I like Jeff for a Kentucky or not for ka Tucky,
for Tennessee. He is for a volunteer. Why I'm not
gonna say volntarer beause I don't thin he's volunt but
for a Tennessee and living in Tennessee as a Kentucky fan,
he's more passionate than most of our fan base. I
do like the passion that he brings to the show.

(04:10):
Sometimes he gets a little bit over the edge. But
Larry Vaud, I don't know. He called and excuse me,
I don't know. I kind of you understand the inner
workings the Danville and Boyle County a little bit more
than I do. I know there were some coaching changes
over the past couple of years that may not have
went the right direction, just like in Mercer County we

(04:31):
got a probably our favorite coach over in that area
is in Mercer County. But I just was referencing that
Danville has just been titled town since Larry's been living
and since I've been knowing Larry, I know they've always
been when the title. I know they've been on the
rough street. But Boyle County Danville is that like Kentucky Louisville?
Like is that something? You can't put them both together,

(04:53):
because to me, they're both together Boyle County and Davilope.
Like if they win, which everyone wins when they're the
same kids.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
It's a little more of a rival. Yeah, there's there's
been a lot of things go on the last few years.
That have led to maybe one team being as strong
as it is and one team being not as strong
as it is. So you have to live there to
understand what has happened.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
All right, I can say something real quick.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yes, if you if you're not gonna say nothing to
Jeff CLOWNE want Jeff call him back?

Speaker 5 (05:28):
To Jeff is we may hear the last from him,
because he said he's fed up with all of us,
and then when he uh said that about Wendell and
some other callers, he immediately hung up, So we may
not hear from Jeff in a while. But I want
to say that, Okay, I don't need callers threatening each
other with physical art. Okay, we don't need that. You

(05:49):
can argue and complain and point fingers all that, that's fine,
but don't be threatening the callers. Okay, yeah, we don't
need that.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
We've got to figure that is true, that's true. Don't
threaten me either, because I'm not a little When he
asks how big of a boy are you? I ain't
ain't a small guy.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
I mean I got threatened once as a call screener
years ago, and somebody said they were going to come
down and wait for me outside with a baseball back
because I refuse to let their calls on the air.
It was on a message where this true story.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
It's not funny. It's not as funny as I maney.
I'm sorry, man.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
I can laugh about it with myself because nothing really happened,
but I don't want to put anybody in a position
to where they are scared about calling us up and
venting and going through the therapy that we usually do
here on Sunday mornings.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
So see, I like it better. Like I've got a
friend Steve Kate, who call him mister Barco Riadyville because
that's where he works in Gatlinburg. But he's down here
on a little trip and he has had his brought
his Kentucky swag within because he was sure Kentucky might
be able to win the issue. So actually they win
the game. He goes out to the Animal Kingdom Resort

(07:01):
wearing all his UK gear, him and his wife, and
he calls me from over there at and tells me
he's running into all kinds of Kentucky fans. There's shouting,
Go Cats, Go UK, just having a big time there
at the Animal Kingdom Resort. Actually the Kentucky went over
over Ole miss That's the kind of thing we need.
And Jeff, Jeff's a good guy. He just got a
little passionate this morning. I don't know, I don't know

(07:22):
what he's so upset about. I mean, just enjoy the win.
I mean. And I also think, Anthony, it's a good
sign for UK football when we're second guessing and wondering
and talking about things like fans have about UK basketball forever,
because as you've referenced before, just getting to bowl games
not good enough anymore. And when you want to set

(07:42):
the bar higher, that means that you got fans that
are passionate and want to criticize and want a second
guess because they want to win. And that's a good
thing because I can remember a time that wasn't necessarily
the case.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
That is true. We winning an SEC on the road.
I'm telling you in vanhus both, if you take out
the South Carolina game and give us another Mac, another
MAC or two opponents before we get to South Carolina,
then the Georgia the same gauntlet we had or I mean,
I guess, ain't two games. I think we're Ever since,

(08:18):
ever since that South Carolina game, we've been pretty well
prepared a couple of bad decisions against Georgia, a couple
of good decisions as old miss, and we're sitting here
with three and two we come out, I think, just
play any type of football against South Carolina. We're looking
at four and one. Jack Pilgrim, how do you feel
about old mister? Jeff? I know you were a host

(08:39):
of this show before you became a father. Uh, and
you've had to screen some of these calls and wait
to see if you're gonna dump somebody or not. Jeff's
passion for you. Have you been threatened ever before? Because
because you you write some you write some stuff to
the edgy people may not agree with.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
Yeah, yeah, I mean not to that extent. But uh, hey,
I'm glad that you're the one field in the calls
right now about me. I can just sit over here
and laugh and just say, hey, I'm it can go
one one in one ear out the other on my
end and it doesn't FaZe me. But I'm not the
one receiving threats. But yeah, it's at to Larry's point, like,

(09:23):
I'm glad that we can have productive conversation and debate
about the stuff that matters with you know, the growth
of the program, and you know, little nitpicky things about
well you're not giving this enough credit and this and
that versus just you know, constant negativity and all the
programs not living up to the standards. You know, Oh

(09:44):
woe is me, Kentucky football pity parties that you know,
when when we always feel after bad losses. So I
appreciate being able to, you know, kind of get into
the weeds of some of this stuff and have heated debates,
even if it is does a result in very unnecessary threat.
So yeah, let's not let's calm down. Let's simmer down

(10:05):
a little bit and take a deep breath. It ain't
that serious. But I am appreciate. I'm appreciating the new
found excitement of this fan base. And you know, the
timing is so perfect because you get this win, you
get the bye week coming up, and then we have
Big Blue Madness coming up the week after that. So
it's like the best of both sides of the fan
base coming together for just a really really exciting time

(10:29):
for the program where it's an unbelievably important stretch for
the football team while also getting you know, obviously a
very exciting new era of Kentucky basketball started at the
same time the Big Blue Badness and Blue White Game
and all those things, So very good time for BBN.
Be a lot of fun, a lot of fun couple
of weeks.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Let's get to the phone list because when we come
back after this break, we're going to get Jack Pilgrim's
breakdown of what's going on in UK bassball in the
next couple of weeks, because he is absolutely right, and
they got one hundred dollars tickets available if you want
to watch him basket ball. What I heard last week.
I don't know if Jack had an update on that,
but let's get to the phone lines right now so
we can get the next the next one to Jack Larry.

(11:09):
Good morning, Larry from Lebanon. I'm assuming it's Larry from Liby.
What do you got for? Can you hear me pretty decently?

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (11:18):
Well, you got electricity, Yeah, I got electrics about wan
of them cranks, you know, crank, I got you. Hey, Hey,
you know what mean you mean? You've had her disagreements
over the years, But I tell you what, I've never
I can't believe Hi would get that serious my stuff.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Doing what you're gonna do?

Speaker 6 (11:36):
You know.

Speaker 7 (11:37):
I tell you what if I told you that's gonna
color if you use the baseball bat. I'm not very
good at hitting the ball, so take my first lick
count because I know how big you are. Anyway, it's
it's crazy, man. I'll tell you what, uh you know
for you know, exact real quick. I watched the George
and Alabama game. You know, you as an ex player,

(11:57):
do you know any certain team you roop for.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
No, Kentucky didn't misigan a little bit.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
But Kentucky, well, I didn't know if you like that,
you know, and if you just knew from the game
like that, and I but there was one hell of
a game. But anyway, as far as Kentucky, you know that,
I'll be honest with you, like and he I'm I
didn't think we could hold her offense. And I gotta
give Brad White credit, you know. Uh, of course I

(12:23):
was always a Stoops fan. You know, I've got a
little disappointment over the years by things. But but I'll
still buy Stokes. But but you know, as far as
as far as our defense, I was kind of shocked
that we actually shocked the past like we did. You know,
it was our main guy one of the brain guy
players out. You know, we done one. Heck with job.
You know, I'll give Brad White at a plus. I mean,

(12:46):
you know Wayne Kiff and he's always been known as offensive, you.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Know, one genius.

Speaker 7 (12:51):
But uh, you know, after the game, he didn't. I
listened to his comments and I didn't really Maybe maybe
I missed some of it later, but he didn't give
a cooking lot of credit. But I've heard you know,
when I listened to it, I was I was kind
of disappointed. I thought he would say, well, you know,
I give Kentucky credit. He really didn't. Said, well, we
didn't do this, and we didn't do that. You didn't
we didn't do this, And all of a sudden, I think,

(13:12):
come on, Wayne and give us craig. You know, Kentucky
came and in your house and we shut you down
and beat you. I mean, you know, they missed the
field goal. I'm glad he did because it probably went
in overtime. We had to, you know. But but as
far as our offensive players, you know, last year we
didn't use stand kid up. I thought the offense coordinator didn't.
But it seemed like this year they're using him more
and the brown kid that taught that fantastic past. I mean,

(13:36):
that was a heck of past.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
He called, Larry, we have to get to a break.
I do not disagree with anything. We have had some
disagreements over the years. I do not disagree with the
words you have said thus far. But we have to
hit the break. We were back after this year. Listen
to stock Yards Bank Sunday more of sports Talking News
Radio six thirty WLAP.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
This is the home of the Wildcuts, six thirty WLA.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Welcome back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I'm Anthony
White along with Jack Pilgrim for another fifteen no for
another ten minutes or so, and the great Larry Vaupp.
If you didn't know, Jack Pilgrim is of KSR, so
if you're a KSR fan, Jack Pilgrim is one of

(14:21):
the best writers reporters in the business. And because you
are one of the best reporters in the business, Jack Pilgrim,
before we get back to the phone lines and talk
more football.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
But this.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Probably a basketball school. I ain't gonna lie. I did
ask Coach Curry. I said, if I come here and
play football and I played basketball too, he said, yeah,
we got one of the best basketball teams in the
country until you get here and then they don't allow
you to play basketball. But Jack Pilgrim basketball is right
around the corner. What'll be looking forward to And it
is one hundred bucks a ticket because last week we
brought it up and they were saying it was only

(14:56):
like fifteen bucks a ticket for the Blue White game.
Fifteen twenty bucks. Now they want one hundred bucks, Is
that true?

Speaker 6 (15:07):
Yeah, So that's for the Blue White game.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
It is a.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
A Club Blue fundraiser event that you know, we got
to kind of just rewire our thinking into the future
of college athletics and what that looks like, and that
is that that's the future we got. You know, we
if we want to fund these teams with the collectives
and and you know, rate raise money for nil, you
got to figure out how to do it some way.

(15:32):
You know, sometimes the twenty twenty five bucks a month
subscriptions don't don't necessarily cover all of it, and you know,
you got to get creative in different ways. So I
think Mark Pope and Club Blue came together for try
to try to get a little creative on how they
can make an exclusive fan fan event with with the
Blue White experience, and so they're taking it to Memorial Coliseum.

(15:55):
That's going to be a new, new, kind of updated
thing that we haven't seen in a very very long time.
And the way Pope describes it, it's going to be
hands on, You're gonna the coaches are going to get
miked up, it's going to pull on scrimmage. Basically, what
you see at the Joe Craft Center on a you know,
daily practice is what you are going to see a
Memorial Coliseum that day. So they they're describing as like

(16:18):
an all access past, if you will, and seeing this
program in a way that you just haven't in the past.
So you're you're kind of you know, the goal is
to get what you pay for, while also if you
just think at the macro level, kind of take a
step back understand that if you're paying a hundred bucks
to go attend this event, that hundred bucks is going
toward the Caleb Wilson's of the world, and the Chris

(16:40):
sineax and the Jasper Johnson's and a Kayden Lewis is
and the recruits that fans are so desperate to add
in today's nil world. It helps add to the pot
that the collective pot to it to help you know,
fund some of these kids and some of these recruiting
pursuits that Pope and his staff have. So yeah, all

(17:00):
things considered, it it's a good thing for Kentucky basketball
and kind of adapting with the times but also just
kind of making the most of it and then making
it a very very cool, exclusive fan event. But also
Blue White Big Blue Mattnis tickets were free. You were
able to go on Ticketmaster get them for free, and
they sold out in twenty four minutes a couple of
days ago. So that's going to be you know, normal

(17:25):
big Blue Madness event that's gonna be very very cool.
With the glass floor that you have to see at
the All Star Game and some of these different cool events,
they're bringing that something that's never been seen before at
a college basketball event. And so so fans are able
to be a reparina for free for that one. And
if you want to up a little bit with Club
Blue and spend some money and help help with recruiting,

(17:47):
then the Blue White games for you as well.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
And we got about a minute so with Jack was
talking about two weeks from now February Friday, October eleventh,
the Big Blue Mattis. I didn't know those tickets were.
You're going to be a reperena at seven pm. You
can also catch it on SEC Network. But a week
after that for one hundred Bucks and Jack Pig, I
don't know if you've ever been in sales when you

(18:09):
say bucks instead of dollars, it seems like it's not
as bad. So one hundred Bucks Blue and White preseason
event six pm at Memorial Coliseum. What are the differences?
Big Blue Madness is pure entertainment, and you said the
one hundred Bucks Blue White preseason game is more practice
and you get to see the hands more hands on experience.

(18:32):
Or is Blue White have or the Big Blue Madness
have a little less hands on experience?

Speaker 6 (18:37):
Nailed it? Yeah, I think the Big Blue Madness is
going to be what we've seen in the past. They're
going to find ways to be entertaining, and you know,
put Mark Pope spin on it. I mean, if you
look at what we did for his introductory press conference,
think something similar where I'm sure he's going to maximize
the nostalgia. We already know that the glass floor is
going to be installed, It's going to be a basically

(18:58):
full court projection projection screen that's kind of interactive and
kind of goes with the players footsteps and you know,
as they go up and shoot shots and layoffs and dunks,
that kind of follows their tracks them along on the floor.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
You know, it's cool.

Speaker 6 (19:12):
It's very very cool interactive thing. But that's going to
be for just the casual fan to just go enjoy
and meet the team for the first time they'll do.
You know, it's it's gonna be big bloom Mattis as
we've come to know it and enjoy over the over
the over the years. Blue White Game is meant to
be a competitive all access pass behind the scenes of
you know, if you're a diehard Kentucky basketball fan wanting

(19:35):
to see how Mark Pope coaches, how Cody Fieger coaches,
how Alvin Brooks and Jason hard and you go down
the list of of these coaches to see them in
their element, uh and see this team in their element
as a full court uh, full on scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Oh that is Jack Pickle. Follow him on all your
social media networks, Jack bigrim Ks are we will be
back after this year. Listen to Stockyards Bank Sunday morning
sports talk on news radios WLAP.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
This is the home of the Wildcats. Six thirty WLAP
Come back Stockyards Bank Sunday. One of the sports talk
I am Axel Foley otherwise known as Anthony White, got
Billy Rosewood playing the tunes every week. Also known as

(20:21):
one half of the Blues Brothers, and our man Bo
Robinson and the Great Larry Vault. Because he's just great
and he's over there with the good weather. Is that
things are going great. UK's winning. The big Ass.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Fans hotline is lit up eight five nine two eight
zero two two eight seven eight five nine to eight
zero Cat. Continue to send your text your tweets in
because whatever they call now sis is not Twitter. They
may be called xis. Send your xes in, uh into
the studio because I am still single.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
Uh well, hey, what did you say?

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Well, the thing is called xes instead of Twitter tweet.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
You said you're still single?

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yeah, so if you.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Anyway, So now we need to get him a dog
and a wife. That's what he's saying, both w Larry Vaught.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
I don't have electricity in my house right now, so
what am I gonna do with the dog?

Speaker 5 (21:17):
You're gonna have to get a backup generator. So now
you need a dog, a wife, and a backup generator.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
You know, Tom Lea's don't pay that well he might
if to no time Lea's gonna give me an increase
in pay, then I will. I'll take them. The problem is,
I do not want to have a pet go through
any type of abuse because I can't be there or
they're not getting the nurturing and the assistance they need.

(21:45):
That's my whole concern.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Huh, your wife would be there? Who That's what both said.
We'll get your dog, a wife at a backup generator.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
Sheesh. And if you had a big ass fan then
that could power enough energy to keep your else running too.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
That sounds like a whole lot of That sounds like
a whole lot of work for a person that's forty
seven years old. And I'm halfway through life. I'm halfway
through life, Larry, And let's stick to the subject, Billy
and Larry, let's stick to the subject. Because we did
go down to the Oxford, Mississippi and win twenty to seventeen.

(22:22):
But the phone lines all right, it up, I am
I actually do I will like a dog. I just
have to find a way so they won't be abused
if I'm not available to take care of them because
I have other obligations. I've lived forty seven years of
my life traveling when I want to, how I want to,
as long as I want to, and to have to
plan for an animal. I think that if Jonie Fowler

(22:43):
and a w nineteen seventy four collector can find a
way for me to find house sitters, and I think
the players should do that for me or some of us,
then I'm honestly, Larry, I'm gonna get become more serious
about it.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
Well do that? I mean, you never know what they
could come through and help you with their anthony.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
You know who can Larry at bark And Park.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
They're going to be out at the bark and Peer
on Leastown Road from twelve right.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
After the show is right right after the show is
twelve before least Time Road, bark and per.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Gym Per bark and per to two of the gymnasts
that we went down to the or some of the
gymnasts we were at the karaoke with are going to
be there. So going out there and see Johnny. We
have some soccer players there. Maybe they can help fix
you up with a dog today.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
I like them. Little gymnasts, I like them though, those
those some some sweet little little individuals.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
And volleyball as well, no not voll gymnasts and softball
and a thought. There were two sports soccer soccer, okay, soccer,
women's soccer, women's soccer nationally ranked soccer.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
Team nationally right, yeah, okay, yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Head on over to bark and per. And you know what, Larry,
what you've been missing the whole boat, on this whole thing.
If you wanted me to have an animal, any of
our any of our listeners, can just buy it for me,
and then that way is a gift. I'm cheap, I'm
not cheap.

Speaker 8 (24:13):
I'm frugal.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
I think they told you they would help take care
of it for you know.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
The players looked at me. They all looked at me
side I like like like crazy. But I'm saying, if
somebody decides, you know, we're gonna sponsor a white a dog,
then I'll be a little bit more aft to change
my lifestyle and and adhere to whatever transitions I have
to make in life.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
Well, I imagine what you get. Maybe we get a
gofund me page going for.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
You, Larry vol I think you could use a pet.
You've been through a lot these last couple of months.
I think a pet would make it, would soothe you
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
Yeah, I've got friends that let me enjoy there, so
that's good enough for me.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
There you go, that's that's a great right, Larry Vaught
doing what the great Larry Vaught does. And you know
where else can help you out, Stockyard's Bank. They've been
your trusted partner since nineteen oh four, So head on
off to syb dot com for all your banking and
financial needs. And if you're listening to this show, you're
listening to it because this hour has brought to you
by Country Boy Brewing. So thank you d H and

(25:20):
the fellas for producing the good beer. Let's get back
to the phone line A five nine two eight zero
two two eight seven A five nine two eight zero caps.
Let's get in and see what Mark has to say.
Good morning Mark, thanks for holding Larry Vats trying to
marry me off, get pets and don't want to apologize

(25:40):
enough for me telling this is the coldest defense ever.
Well the seventies, I think with art stealing them. Guys
may have an argument, but this is one of the
best things. What do you got, Mark? Are you still
still celebrating? Are you on the bandwagon with me and Billy?

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (25:56):
I'm I'm on the bandwagon. I've been on the bandwagon.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
I have a sickness. I'm yeah.

Speaker 8 (26:01):
You can't football fan. But during the during listen to
you guys, I looked up one the reason why Stoops
plays the offense he does is he's trying to hide
talent because it to slow down. I mean literally, he
waits to like four seconds before they hike the ball.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Is that literally just to hide.

Speaker 8 (26:19):
The talent because the other teams have more talent. There's
one too, So we all calm down. Okay. University Kentucky
football is one hundred and nine years old and has
a losing record. We've lost thirty seven times the Vanderbilt. Okay,
so let's enjoy when we win and commiserate when we lose.

(26:41):
But just relax, it's all fun. I mean, we've lost
the Vandys thirty seven times. Okay, so enjoy Stoops why
he's here.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Enjoy the wins. Wait a minute, I want to are
you not Mark k whye on X machine are you no? Okay,
go ahead?

Speaker 8 (27:02):
No, No, I'm a different Mark. I hope I'm not
ruining his name, but uh but no, yeah, this is Mark,
and yeah he I don't understand why people are so upset.

Speaker 9 (27:14):
We won be happy.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
I don't think anybody's really upset. I think I think
more people are more frustrated because we dropped the South Carolina.
If we don't drop the South Carolina, we are where
we are now. I think everybody's happy and giddy.

Speaker 8 (27:27):
If if I asked you in the first of October,
what is UK's record at the beginning of the year,
and you said three and two, the only difference is
you thought we would have lost the Old miss instead
of South Carolina.

Speaker 9 (27:41):
That's the only difference.

Speaker 8 (27:41):
We are exactly what they were, exactly where we thought
we would be according to the polls at the end
of September than we were at the beginning of the game.
The next the next three games matter. If those three
games go our way, then the next set of games
Tennessee and Texas. If we split those, is that not

(28:04):
a great season?

Speaker 4 (28:05):
And to beat Louisville.

Speaker 9 (28:08):
Again we have a losing record, Well, I mean.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
So it happen'd day that'd be dating Thor. I was
predicting going to be a great seat. That's what I said, Martin.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
Mark.

Speaker 8 (28:22):
Do you want to know why why he plays as
slow as he does. I'll listen. Thank you for let
me talk. Thank you, gentlemen, Thank you for the call.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Mark Mark brought up a good one.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
I did.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
I did not think. I did know that we swapped
out in my thinking, we swapped out the South Carolina
for the Old Miss game. But if we rocking, Larry Vaughden,
and here's where I'm at, If we're rocking and rollingd
like I think we are now, then even in me,
swapping the South Carolina for the Old Miss game means
that some of that Tennessee game that I gave up,

(28:52):
a couple of those other games I gave up maybe something,
maybe not so much the Texas game. Everybody, you can
stick to you eight and four. I might, I might
be still back on for nine and three if we
are rocking and rolling, Larry vaut When this last time
we played a bad game, I'm not saying I'm not
saying bad decisions, bad decisions, But how many bad games

(29:14):
we played this year? One exactly. So if we are
rocking and rolling, and you know what it came to
this season, Why did I tell you I was so
optimistic about this team? What was the one factor? Defense
and the focus, the focus of cutting down on mistakes.
If we continue to progress and cut down on mistakes
and layers are like execution, cause our offense is getting better.

(29:38):
I mean, we're trying different things. So I'm that makes
me And if we can pick up two or three
first downs, convert two or three third downs, possession is
ball control, which Mark was asking about. Why is he
play so slow? We ran seventy five plays. We ran
a lot more plays than Lane Kiffin ran Larry Vaught.

(29:58):
One thing I'm telling you at the beginning of the
season was Lane Kiffin did not get to run a
whole lot of plays because he was not executing, like
they were not moving to change. So if you run
three plays in twenty seconds, is that better just to
run a whole bunch of plays or is it better
to run the plays and keep moving the change and
keep the clock running. If you just running plays just

(30:20):
to run plays, you you're gonna look like Lane Kiffin
and you're gonna be on the post game presser making
excuses and not giving Kentucky enough credit, which that doesn't
surprise me. One of the callers asked about that. That
doesn't surprise me, does it surprise you?

Speaker 4 (30:35):
Larry, Well, Kentucky had the ball for forty minutes, that's
how you run seventy five plays. Lane did give him
some credit. It was kind of boot begrudging, but he
did say and he praised Mark Soops a lot for
going on that fourth down thing and said, talk about
how that surprised him. Totally had a character for Mark.
You think maybe he might have thought back, maybe he
should have caught a time out with Kitch. He got

(30:55):
ready to do that to think about this, what is
Toops cut up his sleeve here now that we're gonna
they're going.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
To try this.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
But yeah, I don't have a like I said, he
should have probably praised him a little bit more. But
also before we get Vince on here, it's fair out eleven.
We've got a couple of people. And I want to know, too,
why do you think O miss fakes injuries on offense?

Speaker 2 (31:18):
I didn't know. Well, we fake the injury on defense.
You do know that, and that's something you practiced. That's
something that does happen in practice. You do practice faking
injuries when you're going against a up tempo team.

Speaker 4 (31:28):
But why would why would o Miss do it on
offense when they're wanting to play fast.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
You don't have an answer for me. I have no idea.
You're right, You're absolutely right. Offensively, you normally don't. You
normally don't fake an injury.

Speaker 4 (31:47):
I mean, did you see the replay where the quarterback
pointing to the running back at one time's won the
good and he just collapsed. It was like Anthony White
just follow out. I mean, I thought it was gonna
be a miracle they could even get him off the
field the way he just collapsed right there. I mean
he went to collapsed right now.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
I'm not one hundred percent certain because I said I
may have been involved in country boy during the game. Uh,
it was if we And one reason you do it
if you don't have time outs, that saves you the
time out because if you don't have time out, they
have to call the time out if you have an injury.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
So been a time, it was at a time where
that was an issue for him. So I don't know,
but they did it. A couple of times. I just
was curious.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
I do remember a couple of stoppages over injuries, but
I don't know. I have no idea. I have no idea.
How do you know they were fake injuries?

Speaker 8 (32:38):
Larry?

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Maybe it was hot down there like it is.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
Maybe there's the one video out there and it shows
the quarterback Jackson just turned around and he points to
the points of the running back and tells him to
go down. When he does, he just collapses. I mean,
he goes down. I mean that was an Academy Award
winning parents. He went down. I mean, I hope they's
got to start a GoFundMe h for his medical care

(33:01):
when he got off the field.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Hold on, let's get me. We got Vince coming up,
so let me get try and get one call in
here before we get to break Leary. Okay, because you
ask them about fake injuries and whatnot. Let's get back
to the phone line. Daniel, we got about a good man.
I'm sorry to put you in this situation where we
got the big dog coming up at eleven o'clock. What
do you got for, is Daniel?

Speaker 10 (33:24):
Hi, guys, I had a great memory yesterday when they
said that was UK's biggest road win since nineteen seventy seven. Wow,
I'm going to bet on one of the few, if
only UK alum who was at that game. That game
was in Penn State and State College, and back that time,
Penn State didn't lose home football games, kind of like

(33:44):
UK not losing basketball games back in that area in
that time frame. And in nineteen seventy eight, of course,
UK won the basketball championship and I thought, wow, Kentucky
must be one heck of a sports school. Well, as
I got a little older, went to the UK's a
freshman eighty six, I kind of realized that, well, maybe
not quite.

Speaker 9 (34:05):
The football school guy thought they were.

Speaker 10 (34:07):
But that was a great win for Kentucky in seventy seven,
and probably even a greater win yesterday.

Speaker 9 (34:12):
Congratulations to coach Stoop the rest of the team.

Speaker 10 (34:16):
Job well done, and I just hope they can keep
the ball from the momentum rowan.

Speaker 9 (34:20):
For the rest of the season and you know, let's
just keep getting the wins.

Speaker 6 (34:23):
Guys.

Speaker 9 (34:23):
Good job, well done. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (34:26):
Hey Daniel, that's seventy seven. Well that's what Dallas Owens
intercepted the pace and returned it for a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
Up.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
There wasn't it.

Speaker 9 (34:33):
It could be. I was only nine years old at
the time. Okay, I'll tell you a lot of the
specifics of the game.

Speaker 10 (34:39):
I just you know, as I said, I was going
to Penn State game since I was two years old
in nineteen seventy and as I said, Penn State didn't
lose at home, So for anybody to beat them at
home was just a heck of a thing. And it was, yeah,
just just a great memory. So for that, I thank
you k for it.

Speaker 9 (34:58):
And again, great job yesterday.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Daniel, Thank you for the car. We will be back
after this. You are listening to Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning
Sports Talk on news Radio six thirty WLAP.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
This is the home of the Wildcats six thirty WLAP.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Welcome back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I am
Anthony White, the conductor of the UK Football Bandwagon, along
with the great Larry Vaudt hanging on the bumper and
the bumper music is coming from Bo Rominson. So how
ironic is all of that? Larry vaud the phone line,
we kind of cleared the phone lines out. You know

(35:33):
what I would love to do, Bow tell me, is
it possible to have our big ass fans hotline open
while we have the Big Dog on, because you know,
when Big Dog comes on here gets as much airtime
as he as he wants.

Speaker 5 (35:46):
I guess it all depends on how much you and
Larry want to talk to the Big Dog, and if
the Big Dog would like to talk to the fans.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
I can do it, okay. I just want to know
because it's whatever he's comfortable with. No, it ain't whatever
he comes with me and Big Dog we like too,
the hard way.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
We are.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
We are both we are so if I tell Big
Dog when our fans, because on this show, the fans
can come on and say what they want. We had
a fan threatening other fans both Robinson, did you not
hear that?

Speaker 4 (36:15):
Earlier?

Speaker 6 (36:16):
I heard it.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
We had a caller off the air who said he
enjoyed Jeff's call, He enjoyed the passion, the emotion, and
then he said, what the hell has this turned into
the Paul fine Bomb Show?

Speaker 2 (36:30):
But That's what I've been wanting it to be.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
Du Speaking of fine Bomb, did you see what fine
Bomb said yesterday before Kentucky played.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
I did not give it to me, he said to me.

Speaker 4 (36:42):
The Kentucky here's a quote from her. He said, Kentucky
to me, is a one hit wonder. They put it
together against Georgia and they were brilliant. Everybody has made
that point, but I also saw them against South Carolina
and they flat out sucked. They can't be like that.
I think he was right, and the Kentucky went out
and showed him they weren't a one hit wonder because
they went out and did it against So Miss. So
I think going into the game that was a fair observation.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Larry Vaught, you've been doing this for a very long time.
Has pointed out on a Twitter x machine that you
said fifty years. Somebody said sixty years. You've been doing this.
I'm telling Larry Vaukt. When that game ended, there was
one person telling you that is not the team. That
was just one of those days. And I gave you
and Jack Pilgrim the opportunity to say, you know what,

(37:26):
I think it was just one. I don't think that's
who the team is. You didn't respect him. I'm not
You got Ann Wat's number, you know Ann Wares, my boy.
I'm not gonna tell him what y'all said. He probably
doesn't listen to this show. I'm telling you when I
sat back, when I sat up here three weeks ago
and told Joe Tail that this team ain't the team
that played against South Carolina. This ain't that team because

(37:48):
as a player, you don't just get slapped in the
face like that and just oh and just walk off. No,
you come back. You give Georgia thirteen points, then you
get Lane Kiffin only seventeen points down to their own crib.
But I'm already I'm already hyped up. The big Dog
is coming back. At the top of the hour. Both
Robinson's holding it down. Larry vag gotta be quiet. We'll
be back with the Big Dog when we come back.
