Speaker 1 (00:00):
Clark's bumber Shop, Return, refresh and refute, guys.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I have returned.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
I'm refreshed and I'm refuwed because there's new hope. And
I've been on sitting on the other side of the
fence from you guys for several weeks now maybe months,
And now me and bo No, we got two friends
on the other side of these microphones.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
So how are you doing this morning, Jack Pooper?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Well, we can take a victory laugh against the one
of the worst teams in the mac Hey, I'll take
it now. I'm just giving you a hard time. Now,
I'm thrilled. Man, it was a really fun night. I
just it was nice to just kind of be able
to let go, let loose a little bit and just
enjoy Kentucky football without having a you know, quarterback battle

(00:48):
or you know, we're playing for this or what happens
if we don't, you know, you could just watch it
and really enjoy a relaxed, feel good twenty five point
win where you know, defense was left a lot to
be desired.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Didn't love you know that.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I liked how fired up Brad White was after the fact,
but man, the offense was absolutely humming. And then you
got to give credit where it to do there across
the board because passing attack was incredible and the rushing
tackle attack once again was incredible. And I need to
figure out how to buy a seth McGowan jersey.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
And Jack, you are right.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
It could possibly been one of the worst college teams
in college football, but we did show our quarterback shows
a similars a lot of things I spoke about last
week that you know, quarterback stays in the pocket, steps
up in the pocket, uses the pocket the way the
pocket is supposed to be used, and we looked like
we had a quarterback. So no matter the level of

(01:44):
competition it was, it looked like there was a whole
lot of light down.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
In the front of the tunnel.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Larry Vaught twelve of twenty one, two and forty yards
two touchdowns. We got a quarterback. And there's you can't
I don't think. I don't think you could put any
gloom and doom on this Sunday except except the skinners
winners did I think Pitt may have Craig's number.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Other than that, I think you can't put in gloom
and doom on this Sunday.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Okay, So we're okay. So we won't mention what they
gave up three hundred and sixty yards passing, So it
was but it was a huge way and Cutter played
really well, I thought in his first start. A little
perplexed after the game when Mark Stoops was so noncommittal
on who would be the starter in the quarterback in

(02:41):
the next game. I don't think I've ever heard of coach.
Maybe you have, Anthony. I'll kind of defer to you
on this talk about that he had to talk to
his players first for to be able to name his
starting quarterback. Do you usually get to vote on who
starts a quarterback?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
No, you don't.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
And I'm starting to be convinced from our fan base,
and you know, talking to you a lot and talking
to other people, I'm starting to be convinced. And I've
told you this all along. Mark Stoops is a player's coach. Now,
mind you, Back in the eighties, nineties, early two thousands,
coaches didn't care what we thought. They grabbed you by
the face mask. And as I've told you, I've had
coaches assault players before. If I mean legally, it'll be assault.

(03:23):
If you if you push, punch, kick a player. Business
it's just never reported because back then it was something
that was understood and I ain't gonna say welcome, but
it was just kind of part of the process.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
And I've told you this all along.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Mark Stoops desired to appease his players and keep his
players around. To me, as a player, I love it,
but I would never take advantage of players have taken
advantage of it. And it's just he I know he
wasn't raised up that way. His last name is Stoops.
I'm certain he was not raised up that way, but
and I think it may have been something that you know,
he was raised up like me, did not appreciate it.

(04:01):
So he allows his players autonomy and you know, a
whole leash rope to do whatever they want to do.
So now it's unheard of, but being Mark Stoops, I'm
not surprised.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Larry Okay, well just kind of surprised. Didn't mirror a
coach ever talking about that he couldn't maybe starting quarterback
killer talk to his players. But regardless of Cutter did
the things he needed to do. I mean, they had
what six plays of over twenty three yards or six

(04:34):
receptions over twenty three yards and got some exposed toess
back in there. They had a couple of pretty big runs.
That was nice to see. Saw the offensive side, I
think you had to feel really good. I know, maybe
there was a time or two Cutter tried to force
the ball in that maybe you would have thought, well,
maybe he shouldn't have. On the flip side, you could say, well,

(04:56):
maybe he's just that confident in his receiver that he'd
go up and make up. So but I liked what
I saw from Cutter. He looked pretty decisive to me.
Now it was against the defense, not at the SEC defense,
but still I thought it was a good, good step
for him. It seems to me again feature quarterback in
the future, and he played that well. Now you've got

(05:17):
to buy a week, give him two weeks of reps
that first team, and now you see what he could
do at South Carolina. But maybe not because Park suits
City wasn't sure yet.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
And Jack Pilgrim, I know you said that Eastern Michigan,
like I said, maybe one of the bottom five ten
teams in college football. The one thing that I spoke
about last week, and I think a lot of things
when you talk to the players, are people inside the
locker room who kind of and I've said this before

(05:48):
and it happened a lot with Devin Larry, he's making
the right reason. He's trying to get it there. Now,
if the line gives some time, kudos to the line,
then me give Wolford and those guys.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
You guys are doing a great job.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Larry Vaught pointed out how much how many yards we
gave up, But Seth McGowan didn't even have twenty touches
or twenty rushes and had one o five one o
four net. But Jack Pilgrim, if our quarterbacks do the
things you're supposed to do, and we talk about this
on the show a lot of times, if you are
looking in the right direction, okay, if the if the

(06:21):
offensive line does not give you time to deliver the
ball on your progressions to the right receiver, then that's
on the offensive line. But an offensive coordinator and a
quarterback coach should understand that. Okay, he's trying to get there.
If we get him time, everything is there. So, and
I know you were speaking to Justin. You do have
a right to say that Eastern Michigan is not That's

(06:42):
not a parameter for the rest of our season, that
by any means, But the fact that cutter stays in
the pocket pushes the pocket. Now, in the SEC when
you push the pockets, you won't have a whole lot
of room. Which pushed the pocket means once you drop
back five steps, if pressure starts coming around you, you
don't blood out the left or the right. You step

(07:03):
up in the gut of the pocket like you go
right back where the center is. And then because you
are anticipating throwing the ball. A lot of people are
not anticipating throwing the ball, they will flush or release
out of the pocket left or right to the sidelines
just to get because it seems more.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
But if you are playing for your team, you step
up in the.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Pocket, which they call push the pocket, push up in
there and then but you are still looking downfield to
make a delivery of the football.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
And a lot of those things.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
And that's where I got a lot of optimism Jack
that he did all those things. As long as he's
doing it out, No, he's not going to have as
much time, The pockets won't be as clean, the pockets
won't be as big against SEC teams. But the fact that,
as I said last week, Zach comes out of as
soon as there was some pressure. He was left or right,
he was getting up out of it. Let me get
up out of here. So does that bring you any

(07:54):
kind of I guess motivation to think that this season
is going to turn the right direction. Like the defense
is not play well, and I have no doubt that
our defense is going to clean things up. But I
love the fact we got a quarterback, our offensive line
is offensive lining.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Our receivers will probably come around.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
But Larry Vaught and Big Dog and the rest of
Big Blue nations happy to our tight hands are being utilized.
So it's a great day, Jack, And you can't. You
and Larry are not gonna bring my day down.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Oh you just you just threw the M word. Am
I motivated?

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Man?

Speaker 3 (08:28):
That's that's the theme of the season, baby, of course
I'm motivated. Yeah, I was thrilled.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Man.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
I really enjoyed watching Cutter And yeah, again, there's just
a different feel and the level of confidence that you
have with him in the backfield that you know, it's contagious, right,
like when you see how Josh Tatis responds to you know,
the big plays made by Willie Rodriguez or you know

(08:54):
Kendrick Law getting down the field or you know, Fred
Ferrier out in the you know, run an upfield and
getting him some love as well. Like you just kind
of the way Cutter was able to spread the love
and everybody kind of built their own confidence, you know,
organically where it wasn't you know, one guy getting forced
said to say, you know, oh, we missed you last week,

(09:14):
so now we got to make up for it this week.
It would just the or the offense was free flowing
and organic, and it just felt like everybody was kind
of building their own confidence and playing unbelievably well, and
it just it Sometimes it just takes a quarterback change.
Sometimes it takes a guy that they believe in, Like
listen to the players, watch the players how they respond,

(09:38):
and that's their guy. You know, you both tight ends
live with with Cutter.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
They both talked about it after the game.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
I really enjoyed hearing that part that, you know, Willie
Rodriguez and Josh Cattis were both you know kind of like,
you know, hey, he's paying Cutter's paying rent with these
touchdowns that.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
He's throwing up.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
So it's just there's a vibe, there's a vibe with
the offense that we just didn't get the first two
weeks h And yes, I think Cutter is a big,
big portion of that. But I do not want Seth
McGowan and that run rushing attack to you know, it
may may not be as sexy as you know, the
downfield throws and you know, toe tap on the sideline
catches and things like that, but man, Seth McGowan is

(10:21):
just an absolute warhorse, an absolute bell cow bell cow
dog that that I feel really really confident in this
rushing attack and if you know, passing attack. If if
the rushing attack is going to be as good as
it is weekend week out, we don't need you know,
Brt Farvan the backfield with a quarterback. We just need
somebody to move the ball and kind of just keep
the defense held accountable in it. I think that's exactly

(10:43):
what Cutter did yesterday and is going to continue to
do as a starting quarterback no matter what Mark Steepe says.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
And Larry Vall, I got to hear from your voice.
I've done this with you for so long. I got
to hear from your voice, like I've been concerned about
you these past couple of weeks. You feel a little
bit better this way about our team, and I repeat,
Eastern Michigan may not be a decent they may not
even be a college football then it may be center

(11:09):
college level football team. But do you feel do you feel?
Do you feel a little bit better? Be honest with
me before we go to break it. Make me feel
say something? Make me feel good?

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Because I liked what I saw at a quarterback. I
think you have a guy now that shows you that
he can maybe play that position a lot better than
when it got played the first two weeks, just from
my observations. Now, am I been a concern me what
bread White had to say after the game and the
way his defense played. Yes, but we've seen bread seem

(11:45):
to be able to get things back in gear pretty well.
So yeah, it was a kind of win that you
had to see. You needed to see it that kind
of win to feel at least a little better going forward. Now,
does it make you jump up it down and say
I'm to go nine and three like Anthony is? No?
Probably not.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Come on, don't do me like that now. I asked
you to say something make me feel better. I didn't
tell you to slander my name and use my words word.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
I'm just saying I don't think Jack and I would
probably quite jump quite to the top of the mountain
with you quite yet. But at least there's now reason
to believe that maybe it could happen because you've seen
some things from the offense. You've got to have some
offense to be able to win with the schedule they've
got going forward. And now at least you see that.
And and Bret White's track record is what he didn't like,

(12:34):
get he'll get fixed. And maybe his guys just took
the game at lightly or something. I don't know, but
I'm pretty confident brand to get things down back up.
So do I feel better than I did a Saturday
morning before they played, Yes, I would say yes.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Let me ask you this for I go to break
Larry Vat, I'm gonna ask you this. If we have
this quarterback in last week at the beginning of the game,
where you get the lather up and you know, take
some some hits and you know, figure theming some things out,
do you think do you think the outcome of last
week's game is different if this is a starting quarterback? Yes, okay,

(13:10):
then that makes us three and oh if that if
if if it's if it's good enough as we.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Think it is.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Okay, well I like that, Thank you?

Speaker 2 (13:20):
All right, Well see we got we do have to
hit it break.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
But I will say this, Larry Wall when we come back,
Jack Pilgrim, we got the discussion. I really want to
have it. We're gonna talk about the game or some stats.
And the optimism that I have is see if it's
starting to trinkle down to other people. But if we do,
if the quarterback does not get hurt last week, and
you never really want to wish hurt or you never
kind of applaud or find any solace in a player

(13:49):
being hurt, we do not get to see cutter bowling.
And the other question is who examined who should be
the starting quarterback if there's that big of a difference
between the two quarterbacks. So that's gonna be the theme
of the show for me. But we're also going to
talk about we are running games back Jason Patterson, our
running back hot room, our running back depth chart room.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
I want to see what you guys think about that.
Let me know what you think.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
You could call us eight five nine two eight zero
two two eight seven eight five nine two eight zero cats.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
We will be back after this.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
You're listening to Stockyards Bank Sunday morning sports talk on
news radio six thirty WLAP.

Speaker 7 (14:25):
This is the home of the Wildcats, six thirty w LAP.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
You got giddy a white man. We whipped up on
the team.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
We should have whooped up on I'm sure people will
find a reason that we should not have whooped up
on them, or that that whooping wasn't what it was
supposed to be. But I got Larry Vaught with one
foot on the bandwagon and Jack Prigrim I think is
hold on to the bandwagon like he's holding on I
think he wants to jump on there.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
He's just scared to take his feet off the ground.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
But if you would like to join the show again
A five nine two eight zero two two eight seven
eight five nine.

Speaker 8 (14:55):
Two eight zero Cats, Hey, you know what I did.
I'm sorry, come on, but come on. Since we're talking
about the wagon, you know what I did yesterday. The
garage door is open. I know it kept getting stuck
a little bit la. The door is open now. Okay,
I'm not saying the bandwagon's out of the garage door
yet out of the garage, but the door's open.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Oh oh well, we well you know what, Actually, you
can pull it out next week because there's a bye week,
so you don't have to.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
I might push it halfway down the driveway. Larry, you
gonna come help us.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
I know Jack has kids and everything, and he's gonna
be probably busy anything.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
Boat needs always be there to help him.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
So you're gonna help us with the bandwagon.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
As far as letting people get on, yeah, they get
it out.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Of the garage.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah, get out of the graage so people can't get them,
they can't get on as long as it's in the garage.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Yeah, I'll help. I'll help push it out.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
All right, let's get to the phone lines. Larry, what
do you got for it? And you bet? And you
better not putting no doom in gloom on this day.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Oh, no doom and gloom.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
I think the Cutter would have played last week.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
I think we won that game.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Thought next time you see them?

Speaker 6 (16:09):
Well, but anyway, uh, you know, I guess the only
negative I've seen mostly was the defense they I don't
know whether they just just laying backer there. Seems seem
like they got some big chunks of the already, especially
on the outside. You know, they went up the middle
a few times kind of closed that down them. But

(16:30):
I don't know. I'm kind of like Clarrybond. I'll kind
of wait to see still because you know, this team
we played last night, they got beat by Nadie Falls
or somebody like the week before. You know, that was
definitely a lesser aim by note by any means. But
I mean, I know you're gonna laugh. But you know,
when you step in the sec even your lesser teams

(16:51):
are good. Look what Many done to South Carolina. Of course,
I think their quarterback I heard early, but Thlanderbilt. I
don't know what they got going down there, but seemed
like me the through program is in the right direction
big time. Now I don't I don't know nothing about
this coach. I have no idea where you come from.
But I mean the guys that has done a great
job too. But you know, Kentucky, I'm gonna wait to see.

(17:13):
You know, you gotta we gotta see what played. The
stronger teams really get a good indication of what's going
to happen. You know Turtter, you know he he did
he did step up in the pocket and he didn't
make I didn't think he made a lot of bad
crows like the other quarterback did. It seemed like he
was more, uh say, more cruel in the pockets when
I'm trying to say and uh, you know, I just

(17:34):
it's just one of those deals that that I think
the Brad White's defense. So I think everybody's seen what
we were saying. We all of a sudden there wondering
why what's your opinion on that?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
That?

Speaker 6 (17:43):
Why why do you think they got so many chunkyards.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
I'm gonna say this first, Larry. I'm gonna say this first, Larry.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
You you praised Vanderbilt for, you know, the program being
changed around, but you also started the conversation off saying,
if we played Cutter Bowl they quarterback last week, we
could be three and oh. And I'm not going to
should have cut a wood of stuff. I don't I
don't do football math like that, But we could have
been three and oh had we had a competent quarterback
to make decisions. And everybody's going to bring up the
timeouts and some of the fumbling around on the decision making.

(18:11):
But to answer your original question, I just think Brad
White does we has to do the win. I've said
this for years. He makes the right football decisions. He
puts the guys in position to be successful, so he
doesn't put him in compromise positions.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Ever.

Speaker 7 (18:28):
This is Stockyards Bank Sunday Mornings Sports Talk, presented by
the lead troop for IT Radio Network on six thirty
w LAP Larry.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Vutt, Jack Pilgrim, the Tleado Rocket scores sixty points yesterday.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
How many points did I say, Jack Pilgrim?

Speaker 1 (18:50):
He said sixty? Anthony Faunbaum, Yes, sixty. But everybody's concerned
about us. Our coach needs to go. This is not
going to turn into one of those shows. And I
apologized last week it turned into it why our coach
to stay here? And Larry Vaught, I did want to
ask you before we get to the phone line, Larry Vaught,
I did want to ask you what was your take?

Speaker 2 (19:13):
What was your take?

Speaker 1 (19:14):
And I gave you my perspective on him asking the team.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Was he did he ask the team if he could
change the quarterback or he wants to see how And
it's really not a question.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
I think you asked the team.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
I think it is a question you ask the captains,
and the captains make that decision if it is questionable
but it doesn't surprise me being Mark Stoops, which I
think sometimes it helps them and from my perspective, sometimes
it hurts them because you are supposed to be the
leader and this is what you all say. He's making
nine million dollars, you make this hit. Everybody else ain't

(19:48):
making nine million dollars. And to be quite frank that,
I believe that is part of the reason to beg
dog game here. He asked people to make decisions that
he didn't want to make and if it didn't go right,
he didn't have to take response ability for But we
won and I'm still getting But what do you think
about the whole idea that Stoops made the comments that
he had to check with the team or he had

(20:10):
a discussing with the team before making a quarterback decision.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Larry Vatte, I would hope it was just coach talk
after the game, and that he's not going to be
doing that, that he's the head coach and he's going
to him and his offensive coordinator decide who's going to start.
That you don't need input from whether you're a high
school coach or NFL coach or whatever. I don't think
you put it up to a vote or a popularity contest.

(20:38):
I think that was just something he just was saying
because he didn't want to He just didn't want to
answer the question or make a decision right there on
the spots, So that just kind of came to his mind.
And I don't I don't think that's what he's going
to do. I think he will obviously make the decision,
and I don't think I think he was the order
of be reckless. If he announced it last night, well,

(20:59):
I think prett damn reckless to be dead to start
cutter bowling in two weeks myself, that is true.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
I will ask you this, and this is in all honesty.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
If he made the decision, because and here's the thing
that we talked about a lot last year. You talked
about it a ton. Maybe you had inside intail or whatever.
But if he loses a locker room, then you go
to where you were last year. We probably had better
talent last year. We lost the locker room at some point.

(21:29):
We don't know if it was amongst themselves. We don't
know if it's holding accountability. So how do you feel
if his choice was let me ask him. I don't
want to lose the locker room again, which I absolutely
agree with your first answer.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
I love your first answer. I'm on board with your
first answer.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
But the idea that last year we may have lost
the locker room, maybe the thing was before I lose
the locker room, me let me check the temperature of
the locker room before I make this decision.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Well, if the temperature of the locker room is not
to play the guy who looked the best accord, and
you've got enough problems in your locker room anyway, it
would seem to me that you after question the football
IQ of everybody in that locker room. So I mean,
I don't know. I just don't see any way that
he cannot do it. And I know it leads you
back to the question about that they just below the

(22:18):
transfer portal again when it came to the to the
quarterback and you've.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Got to search somebody sitting already in y'all.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Yeah, right, you got a guy obviously in your locker room,
and you were about to jump over him and possibly
losing Larry Vaux.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
And you got a lot of money invested in him.
But name of the games winning, name of the game
is to win games, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Anthony.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Yeah, or cash your checks every whatever day. They get
paid on Tuesday. In the NFL, you get paid on Tuesday. No,
I'm not saying that's what he's doing. Man, jack Pot,
let me go to you, because Larry vash on the
dig holes again, dig dishes. How do you how did
you feel about the comments of checking with the team
or checking the timbers of the team before make a

(23:00):
quarterback decision.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Did you feel any type of way? I don't.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
I think it's just to be respectful to Zach Calzatta,
to his absolute credit, was on the sideline and talking
to Cutter and was attentive and positive and uplifting, and
you know you there were there were camera shots of him,
you know, really digging in and being a good teammate.
Because yeah, it could have been very easy for him

(23:24):
to pout and be you know, negative Nancy on the
sideline because he lost the job and all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
But now he was at doing what slow second? Jack,
you think, do you think he's lost the job? You
said lost the job? And I don't want to put
that on my dame. I mean, I know, but.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
If I would be stunned, as Larry said, I'd be
stunned if if we see the offense move and operate
the way it did with Cutter leading the charge and
not move forward with him the rest of the season,
Like I mean, I be stunned.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
So yeah, I wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
He didn't officially lose the job in name, in you know,
official title, as we heard Stoops say. But I don't
think you know, and in the heat of the moment
emotional press conference, you're gonna, you know, say something like that,
Like I think we all can see with our eyes
that it's Cutter's job to lose this point moving forward.

(24:25):
I guess it's probably a better way to put it.
In an uncomfortable situation. I think Zach handled it really well,
and I think it's just to be respectful to him
by not saying, oh yeah, I mean can can are
we watching the same game? Of course, Cutter is going
to be the quarterback because you know, he moved the
ball a hundred times better than Zach ever could the
last two weeks.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
You know, Stoops of course.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Isn't going to say something, you know, as egregious as that.
So I think it was just a way to be
respectful and kind of give credit where it's due to
Cutter and say he had a good game, but also
not you know, throw throw Zach directly under the bus,
just just a weak removed while he's also banged out.
I mean, that's not fair to him either.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
And I'm gonna ask you this, Jack, I don't know
if you've kept up with I don't know if you
read between the lines that you kept up with. I've
said all along that I thought, obviously will Cox has
it off the field issues going on.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
He's not gonna be available. I don't think this year
at all.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
But I've always heard that Jason Patterson was the guy
probably over Willcox. He just got hurt early last year.
And then they came in this year and I've been
making a little grumbling. I ain't made a huge grumbling.
I've made enough grumbling to let you know that Seth McGown,
everybody loves him. You know, he was out of football
for a while, came back, Jason Patterson has done nothing

(25:45):
but do the right thing all the time.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
And we start this season. I didn't make a big fuss.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
About it, but Seth McGown and Dante Dowdell gonna be
the you know, so why does Jason Patterson have to
take a back seat. And this reminds me of the
whole cutter bowlie thing. We never really got that, we
saw some glipse of curlor bowlie. You keep bringing people
in over him whatever. Let him fight through his problems,
whatever his problems are, let him fight through him. If

(26:14):
he throws five picks in the game, which I've seen
Tim Couch do, let him do that. You know, learn
from those. If you don't get to make mistakes, you
don't learn from mistakes. But even in the running back room,
and Larry Vaught may know because I talked to him
off the air a lot more than I talked to
you off the air. But I was like, Jason Patterson
was supposed to be the guy, like what not? All

(26:35):
of a sudden, Jason Patterson seems to be number two.
And to me, his vision is better, his hips are better.
But seth McGowan Jets man, he's he's just a man's man,
which is fine.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
So I don't mind them one two punch.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
I don't even mind Donald Donald took off last week, yeah,
last week, and no two weeks ago and got up
through there. My point is, what is, what do you jack?
What do you think the idea of how the running
back room and maybe Jason Patterson isn't two on the
depth chart coming into the next SEC game we play

(27:09):
after the bye week.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
But I've already I've said.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
This before the season even started, that Jason Patterson should
have been one or two or in the rotation of
one two or one, two and three. Now after yesterday
it looks like he probably she'd be number two. But
how did he ever get out of the talking from
one or two if all he did last year was
get hurt? And and Bolwear told us last year before
we brought all these guys in here that the young

(27:34):
guy that has the most upside, does everything right, was
gonna be Jason Patrick Patterson.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
He just happened to get hurt last year. Jet Jack.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Yeah, And to clarify, Suit said afterward that Dante Daldell
got banged up and that's why he you know, ran
at eight times and we didn't see him again the
rest the rest of the way. So I think it
was kind of a mix of both. That the Patterson, yes,
absolutely deserves some run, and he's been playing great and
doing doing the right things behind the scenes, which cannot

(28:03):
be said about Jamrion Wilcox, But it was definitely a
mix of both that that Dowdell kind of went down
and Stoop said it wasn't anything serious, but it was
something that like, hey, could could become something more serious
if we keep running him into the ground. So let's uh,
let's let's just kind of, you know, put him on
ice for for the bye week and see what happens.
But yeah, I think Patterson's awesome. I think just seeing

(28:26):
how hard he runs a whole running back room. Man,
just they they run so hard and just with with
such intensity and intent, like there's a clear motive behind
every single run. It's my butt is my job is
to get my butt in the dze. It's beautiful, you know,
you there's there's a want to with it. And I
love watching all of them them play. I love watching

(28:47):
them all run, and you know it's it's next man
up mentality.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
You know.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
We we talked all week about Cutter Bowlie and just
the you know, him stepping up, and you know, Stoop's clarified,
you know, after saying Cutter, you know, I want to
see Cutter get a shot all that stuff, he kind
of backtrack and said, well, It's no different than me
saying that I want any player with the next man
up mentality that you know that I'm excited to watch
that guy step up into that role and see how

(29:12):
he takes on that role. Well, I think Jason Patterson
did the epitomized that. I think he did a masterful
job of stepping up when Dadel goes down to just
kind of fill that, you know, that absence that the
running hard and you'll get those tough yards and finding
the end zone. Man, I thought he was terrific, and
he certainly didn't do anything just like Cutter, he certainly

(29:33):
didn't do anything to give up his job. If he does,
you know, move up the death chart, whether it's a
two or you know, an expanded role at three. So
it's not just a two headed monster. They can kind
of push it to a three headed monster. But one
way or the other, that redshirt freshman is a player
and he is a very very bright future in Lexington Stoops.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Get Patterson in that rotation and run the damn ball.
That's what they want us to do. Let's get to
the foe lines and see what John Short has said.
John Short, I don't know how many Biggings you said
maybe you said thirty five Biggins, but we were kind
of close side.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
We felt a little bit short, but it was it
was enough bigginess to cover the spread.

Speaker 9 (30:14):
It's indeedy and we're gonna re sacro Line with ten biggas.
No Vanderbilt blew him out easily yesterday.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Yeah, if Vanderbilt is making the turn, that is going
to get Mark students on the hot seat because everybody's
want to know, how can Vanderbilt win, How can Indiana win?
If they can win to those schools, why can't we win?
Because they got a pony up and I know, and we.

Speaker 9 (30:36):
Even talking about this.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
We won.

Speaker 9 (30:38):
We beat some message yesterday volleyball all ready to play
that and say, but you win we have with Sun
message yesterday.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Wait a minute, oh certain message. Yeah we did. Yeah,
Eric Dickerson in them. Yeah, wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
They're rate number ten, They were rate number tenth in
the country, John Short and we beating three.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
To one and we won.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Yeah, but Pitt has our number. Hold on, John sure
Pitt had our number. That kind of worries me. We're
one of the best teams in the country and we
can't get over pitt.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
Hunh and we had we hadn't be picked for years.
So the last time it was seventeen years ago, in
twenty hundred and eight.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Oh I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yeah, Oh, Larry Vard, did you know that that we
ain't beat them in seventeen years Your grandson wasn't even born?

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Then, well, what six straight times? John? Is that writer?
Is it more than that?

Speaker 9 (31:29):
Let running one of that? But last have to be
a picture. It was twenty hundred and eight, seventeen years ago.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
Last we picture for him.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
And then let's make it nice in December when they
beat them this year.

Speaker 9 (31:41):
Right, that's right, that doesn't really counts. We we need
to We needed to have volleyball siver. You normally have
it most of Fridays and Sunday. Let's have it. Let's
have it Wednesday's Fridays and Sunday for all the college
teams have done three days weeks, two days a week.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Yeah, let him play.

Speaker 9 (32:03):
Yeah, he needs to listen to this show, to the show.

Speaker 6 (32:08):
So that's right.

Speaker 10 (32:09):
This is.

Speaker 9 (32:12):
That's right, and who we played today, But it's not
some on the plus, it's not some on record television.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
We played for uh Houston. We do play Houston at
two pm, and guess.

Speaker 8 (32:28):
What what, we'll have it on the w l A
P for everybody.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Really, Yes, it's good. Yes, wow.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
So you can watch it on tv SEC Network Plus
and here right here on these very very waves at
two pm.

Speaker 9 (32:50):
Correct, Yeah, he's gonna he's gonna call the game on
the radio two o'clock.

Speaker 8 (32:54):
We hit the air at two o'clock. No, frank, excuse
no pa, no pre game like maybe thirty second that's
about it, and then we got right into it. He
joined in the spring, so this is his first volleyball match,
but did a really good job with softball. So I
think everybody will like listening to his play by play call.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
Are you on the bors? Oh yeah, okay, so you
got it all day? Okay, so you're working extended hours? Yes, okay,
what else you got for it? Well, Johns shure, there's
nothing else you can have for because we got to
hit the break all right.

Speaker 9 (33:24):
Oh, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
For your car, thank you for your optimism. We will
be back after this.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
You are listening to Stockyards Bank send him went a
sports talk on he was radio six thirty w LAP.

Speaker 7 (33:34):
This is the home of the Wildcats, six thirty Wlap, Larry.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Vought, Jack Pilgrim, especially Larry Vaught. I met a young
man yesterday named Jasper, this Spain. Jasper went to his
first UK football went to his first football game ever yesterday,
and he has his twenty two jersey. He's looking for
a marker so he can get autographs. I told him
who to get autographs from. Uh and Cutter Bowley is

(34:00):
one of the names. I told them to get autographs from.
Cutter Bowley, Uh, David Gusta, Augusta, uh Ty Brandt, Kendrick Law.
And I'm not I'm not throwing names. I'd like to,
you know, to be little in anybody or anything. But
I just gave him some names of people to look
out for. If he could, I said, everybody's gonna be
much huger than you. And I said, and if you

(34:21):
ever get a chance, get you a thirty two jersey.
And his uncle said, well he wore number thirty two.
Here's a really good player or whatever. Now Jasper is
looking for a thirty two jersey. So shout out to
little Jasper to Spain. Hopeful you got the autographs you wanted.
If you didn't, I can get you a thirty two jersey,
and I'll sign three and I'll have uh, what's uh,

(34:46):
trevar Linley, I'll have him to sign two. We'll get
your jersey signed for you. Let's get to the phone
line and see what Jake has to say. Welcome back, Jake.
What do you got for us? I can't remember what
you said last time you want here? And I think
you were on my side, so I think I'm going
to appreciate your game.

Speaker 10 (35:02):
Yes, I yes, I was on your side.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
But I had but I had.

Speaker 10 (35:05):
The old miss.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
I was seven and five, but I had old miss
when we if we beat.

Speaker 10 (35:12):
Them, we would be three and oh right now, that's
the one I had as our.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
Seven and five.

Speaker 10 (35:17):
And now now it looks like South Carolina is gonna
be gonna be the gonna be the next victim. Did
you havena they're gonna be old, They're gonna be oh
and three when they get when they when they come,
when we come to in their uh in a.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
Couple of weeks. I can't wait.

Speaker 10 (35:35):
I can't, I really can't wait. Now, did you have
Clark this afternoon too.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
And you're seven and five? Did you have us beating
Florida or did you have.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
Us lose that game, should win that game, okay, because
they are not looking very good right now. So that's
why I was thinking maybe we could swap off that
old miss for Florida win.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
Yeah, boy, that's that would be That would be the
thing to do, right there?

Speaker 2 (36:00):
What else you got for us?

Speaker 9 (36:02):
True?

Speaker 5 (36:03):
And and I'm and I'm happy that we got that.
Uh happy we got that volleyball game at two o'clock?
Is that the first one?

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (36:11):
Is that the first one Bowl.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
That you've gotten this this year?

Speaker 8 (36:16):
Yes, it will be the first game on the w
l A P for the season.
