Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good morning, got the Big Show on the radio. Coming up,
we'll play Beating the Blonde for that big old low
Tiger's prize pack. Like we said, get your name and
a half of that one of the con Big Show
motorcycle custom built by Rick Bray of RKB Customs, Big
Show Bike dot Com. Check it out and now let's
check it out Man Mark Packer from the ACC Network
(00:21):
for the Big ESPN. He is a man as we
is zero in on college football.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Good morning, pack Good morning, Johnny, and zero is the
number because this week is week zero, Oh conboy. Two
hundred and twenty six days ago, the University of Michigan
won the National championship. Jim Harball with all that cheat
and took the money went to the NFL, but he
brought a title to good folks and inn Arbor, Michigan.
(00:48):
We have not had college football since that night, and
again we fast forward it to this week because this weekend, Johnny,
it is week zero, the start of the college football season,
which means we're now going to have forty five consecutive
weeks of college sports, whether it be football, basketball, baseball,
(01:10):
women's soccer, tennis, whatever makes you happy. Forty five consecutive weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Johnny Quick quick Man back. There's either like six or
seven weeks only without of college sports.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
He's just showing off for you.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Now, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
What you can tell the super blue Moon arrived on Monday.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Johnny hadn't been all of a sudden, He's doing math
by Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Oh my goodness, I.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Know this much.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Tomorrow John Boy completely separ I'll get back to football
on a second. But tomorrow the ACC Network, in which
as we're at work, we celebrate our five year anniversary.
We launched that sucker five years ago and so a
big celebration up in Bristol, Connecticut. We'll have a special
anniversary show tomorrow night on the network and all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
So five years old, little birthday party for the Agency network.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So we'll check Shout out, yeah, shout out to all
this morning people up there in Bristol.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Will put this thing together.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
So forty five consecutive weeks, which means for basically the
guys out there again.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
I'm not gonna take away from the women, because the
women are great sports fans.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
But if you didn't get it done this past weekend,
whether it be repairing something at the house or picking
out that.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
We it ain't happening. It's done.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
So mean, if the trash is still sitting there on
the stoop, it's gonna stay there, because you know how
we operate, Johnny. Once the football season gets here, we
are basically mushrooms. I mean, we just sit there and
watch and consume all of it and don't know who's
gonna win. And there's gonna be great storylines and all
that stuff, and you know, we really don't know what's
(02:55):
gonna happen, which is the beautiful thing about it. But
I've read something this week, john Boy. One hundred and
thirty two million dollars were spent last year by colleges
to buy out coaches who had been fired thirty two
million dollars by institutions around the country. And believe it
(03:17):
or not, I started messing around and I read that
stat I'm like, surely Vegas has odds out, and they do.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
So I'm going to.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Give you the three coaches who were on the hot seat.
And again we've not even had the first game yet.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
We get Georgia, Florida State in Ireland on Saturday, we
got SMUs and New b the ACC They're going to Nevada,
and then they got games like Montana Stated, New.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Mexico, and Delaware State in Hawaii.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Those are the four games this week. Next week, it's
go time. But here are the top three coaches on
the hot seat. Billy Napier at Florida four to one
to get fired, Sam Pittman in Arkansas is five to one,
and Mario Chris have bought Miami six to one. Those
are the top three leading candidates to lose their jobs.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
And we're three days from kickoff. That's how crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
If you don't think the college game has morphed into
the NFL, you're out of your mind.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
And ironically, those three of those coaches I just gave you,
Billy Napier at Florida, Mario Chris Baut Miami.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
They're playing each other next weekend in the swamp.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
So somebody's starting off zero to.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
One already from that perspective. But that's the world that
we're living in. But the good news is this season
is all bit over. Talking season is all bit over.
We finally get to football coming up this weekend, and
we got to go across the pond with Georgia Tech
Florida State in the best game.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
So it's here. It's good that we're ready to rock
and roll.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Let Southern Fried Football live and rejoice for another season
coming up.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
All right, finally made it back back. Good deal, but
a good deal, and just right quick. Those three coaches,
do you think God like they're hoping that they'll be
the one to you know, reach your goal of getting
paid without wig working, Johnny.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
As you well know, when I started doing the radio
twenty some odd years ago back at FNZ, one of
the things I said, and I have a minute from
day one, is that the goal of every American worker
is to be suspended with pay. If somebody is crazy
enough to write you a check, not to get your
ass out of bed.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Where do you sign? I mean, it is like a
beautiful thing. Really, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
That's awesome, Bud. All right, Pack, we'll talk to you
next week. Buddy. Just get it going. Thank you, my boy.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Let's go. Let's kick the pig. Let's go, Johnny, all.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Right, we'll be watching Pack on the ACC Network celebration
tomorrow night. Let's make sure to do that I did well.
Let's play Mean the Blonde, all right, Tyler, Yeah, that
look on your face off one eight hundred Big show.

just as everyone predicted. They came in number one, and
they debuted with the forty one million dollars.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
So I'm confused. Is it a remake of the original
or a prequel?
Speaker 6 (22:26):
It is the eighth installment, so it's in between. It's
in between the earliest one and the last one. All right,
so it's the eight installments. But I think that I
think the aliens are the same.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Well course, I just kidding, all right.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
Deadpool Wolverine came in second place. Not too shabby for
Ryan Reynolds. It ends with us. His wife's movie, Blake
Lively is in. It ends with us, and the topic
there is it's a little deep. It's based on a
book and that deals with some domestic violence and so
but it's doing well. It's hanging in there at number three.
Wisters came in fourth place, and to wrap out the
(23:03):
top five, Coraline number five.

Hey, Michael is awesome. All right, Joey down Water City, Mississippi.
You got your big old prize by good game, buddy,
all right, man, I enjoyed it. It was fun, good
morning big shows on the radio, and it has been
request time. Not even gonna mention how wonderful those two
(33:20):
rounds of wordy word. Alright, let's go to bit request.
Chris Holms out of Beckley, West Virginia says a fellows,
could you play an unknown history with Clyde? It's stupid
but hilarious. Where wore do you hold all counts? Chris?
Coming up next? Good morning but shows on the radio,
(34:06):
BI requested this morning. Chris Helms out of Beckley, West Virginia,
was the heir of Clyve.
Speaker 10 (34:15):
We all know history, but there's so much more we
don't know. I'm Sir David Attenborough and this is unknown History. Chicago,
nineteen twenty five. On a brisk January day, Johnny Torrion,
(34:38):
the crime boss of Chicago, retired, and a new boss
filled his shoes. His name was Alphonse Capone, and he
ruled the windy city with an iron fist. He was
the face of organized crime in America. But what you
(34:59):
don't know is he was only the face. The mastermind
hid behind the scenes.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
His name.
Speaker 11 (35:10):
Was Clyde.
Speaker 10 (35:10):
Heah, Yes, the brains behind the nation's biggest crime syndicate
was a camel. His identity was known by a rare fuel,
very rare. Clyde knew early on that his anonymity was Paramoa.
He needed a smoke screen, a diversion, a larger than
(35:32):
life character who would be his avatar?
Speaker 1 (35:35):
But who who?
Speaker 10 (35:41):
After a lively evening in the theater, Clyde had an
epiphany a hair. He chose a young up and coming
stage actor named britt Margolis Farwood. He carefully crafted his
persona and with a little reconstructive surgery and a brand
new wardrobe, created the man you know as al Capone.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
You can go a long way with a smile, You
can go a lot farther with a smile and a gun.
Speaker 10 (36:08):
No, no, no, And while everyone had their eyes on Copone,
Clyde worked his magic. He built an illegal empire worth
one hundred million dollars in today's money, that's one point
five billion dollars. But where it is the head that
(36:43):
wears the crowd, Capone had a bull'seye on his back.
Greed and jealousy drove people like Bugs Moran to try
and eliminate scarface, but Clyde couldn't have anything happened to him,
so he did what any good businessman would due, and
(37:03):
on February fourteenth, nineteen twenty nine, Clyde liquidated the competition.
It would become known as the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre.
With that message said Capone was safe, Chicago became the
(37:25):
crime capital.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Of the world.
Speaker 10 (37:28):
But it wouldn't last. You see, like most actors, Brett
Margullus Farwood began to live the role. Driven by his
enormous ego, he decided it was time he.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Take the raids.
Speaker 10 (37:42):
Clyde remained calm, cool and collected. He quietly sent a
messenger to Elliot Ness of the US Treasury Department. He
delivered a package of bookkeeping legers. These would implicate al
Capone in a colossal tax evasion scheme.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
This cord finds Alvas Gabriel Capone guilty.
Speaker 10 (38:16):
The man the world knew as al Capone was released
from prison in nineteen thirty nine. His mind ravaged by
venereal disease, he died a slow, painful death. He was penniless.
The question that has never been answered was what became
of his vast fortune.
Speaker 5 (38:36):
Well.
Speaker 10 (38:37):
Clyde retired quietly, investing in a mattress company in t Neeck,
New Jersey. In nineteen forty five, a malfunction in the
machine that made the inner springs produced a weak thin,
flimsy spring. Now, anyone else might have just fixed the
machine and moved on, but not Clyde.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
So now you know who to thank every time you play.
Speaker 10 (39:03):
With a slinking the baking you're baking the bad thing.
Speaker 5 (39:08):
I begin.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Until next time.
Speaker 10 (39:11):
This is Sir David Edinburgh reminding you that it's not
the history that's known, it's the history unknown.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
As as David Homes makes the radio, Oh run man,

Speaker 5 (40:50):
Nothing, neph tickler, but you know it's man Dabbert. How
good does it ever? Get?
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (40:54):
I seek your point? But how is Old Delbert.
Speaker 5 (40:57):
Dumb as dirt and twice as wormy dragged me up
to see me mov and West Jefferson over the weekend,
and of course we had to take care of some
business for old man Palmer.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Who's old Man Palmer.
Speaker 5 (41:10):
That's all We all drunk used to live down at
the end of me Mall's Road. Detected on Debard something
fierce when he was growing up. Yes, the cool bus
would let Debord off at the bottom of the hell
right in front of old man Palmer's house. He'd set
up there on that porch of his and with a
bottle of homemade corn liquor and a big old piler off.
And when Debort did get off the bus, old Man
(41:30):
Palmer to holler, get away from my Papay you snot
knows little Palm. He chuck a rock right at debar
Gem upside the head more than one time.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Old Man Palmer sounds like a main drunk.
Speaker 5 (41:41):
Yeah, he was so where up at me Mo's house
about a month or so ago in the fall rings.
It's old man Palmer's doctor says his livers are failing
and he ain't got long to live, and he's asking
to see Debart. I said, well, Devard, you ain't really
gonna go over are you. Never says well, if he's
a dying I reckon it be the right thing to do.
(42:01):
So went over there. There's old man Palmer laying in
the bed all shriveled up. He says, Delbert, come on
over here. Devil goes over there, real cautious liking and
stands beside the bed. There old man Palmer says, son,
I'm fixing to die. I know I was cruel to
you all them years, and I wanted to say I'm sorry.
(42:22):
Let me tell you why I did all them main
things to you.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
You know, Oh, man Palmer sounds a lot like President Clinton.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
So he starts telling this story. He says, Son, my
life run off and left me back the time you
was born, and I knew i'd never have no youngins
of my own. Well, every day i'd see you getting
off a bus after school, it just reminded me how
longs of my life was. I just couldn't take it,
and that's why I chucked all them rocks at you.
It was the main thing to do. And I want
(42:53):
you to know how sorry I am. Can you ever
forgive me Dever says, well, I reckon.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
So oh, never forgave after all that time. That's a
pretty big thing to do.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Speaker 6 (43:05):
You know.
Speaker 5 (43:05):
Even old man Palmer's eyes was kind of well enough. Yeah,
he said, thank you, son. That means a lot to me. Now,
before I die, I got one lish request, And since
I ain't got no family, you're the only one that
can do it. FIRMI look down there beside the bed,
See that jug. That's my very last batch of corn liquor.
(43:25):
Take it with you when you leave. And when I die,
I want you to come out and bring that jug
to the cemetery and sprinkle it over my grave. That
way it'll soak up into my bones and I'll be
able to enjoy it for all eternity. Which you do that,
Firmi Devor says, well, I reckon. So so I picked
(43:47):
up the jug and we left. Well, me and my
all call last week, says old man Palmer has finally
kicked the bucket, and Dever says, well, I don't reckon.
We got to go up there. So we went up
to the cemetery Saturday afternoon with that jug of corn liquor,
started looking for old man Palmer's grave.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
Uh huh.
Speaker 5 (44:02):
And I noticed as we're walking along, Devert's doesn't pop
the cork out and he's taking big old swigs out
of that just uh, I said, Deborah, what the word
are you doing? He says, what does it look like
I'm doing? I said, but you promised old man Palmer
you just gonna sprinkle that on his grave? And Devor says, oh,
I'm going to I just thought i'd run it through
(44:22):
my kidneys first man, oh man.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
The last word after all, I guess.
Speaker 5 (44:33):
Pay back is run. Hey, I gotta run here. Me
and brother Teresa gon go to work. You say, letter wrong, Yeah, well,
well you telling him? I said, you know what you mean,
y'all can straight off right?
